One thing I aaabsolutely love is the beginnings of recovery after a difficult illness (or injury or starvation or whatever that's taken a heavy toll on the whumpee's body), where they're no longer really sick as such, but they're still just absolutely out of strength to the point that they're hardly even able to walk across the room and still have to spend most of their time in bed, probably still sleeping a lot. Just that part where they're come out on the other side of the worst of it, but now it's a slow road to regaining the strength they've lost

when the simplest task, like holding a cup of water to their lips, is so taxing that someone else has to help them do it

because they’re so thin/worn down, they’re constantly cold to the bone, too weak to keep themselves warm even when dressed in warm clothing or covered in blankets

consequently, they spend most of their time in bed trying to get warm enough

they desperately need nourishment but they can only manage a few bites of dinner or sips of soup at a time

old clothes that used to fit perfectly now hanging loosely on their gaunt frame

losing focus during the simplest conversations

falling asleep mid-conversation

dropping very small objects because their hands are so unsteady

even a gentle breeze sends goosebumps skittering across their skin

their body constantly aches, even when laying in a comfortable bed

being covered in multiple soft blankets which they clutch to their chin

caretaker gently massages the rest of their body to try and get the blood flowing and get them healing faster

Okay lemme be real with you all.

I LOVE it when someone touches someone else's cheek to check their temperature. Sooo good and sooo tender 💕 One of my top favorite prompts when it comes to an illness scene.🌡️

So I had to make a quick edit of this. Poor Yuma tries too hard...😞 At least there's a sensible adult in the room to tell him so. (and even his death god partner thinks he's pushing it)

A scenario of Yuma about to leave the agency, but Yakou KNOWS something's wrong. The trainee looks tired, he’s panting a little, and his face is tinted red. So he stops him, walks up to him, and puts his hand to his cheek to check.

And turns out, he was spot on.

Yuma tries to deny it, but Yakou ain’t havin’ it.

Then he IMMIEDATELY puts him to rest. Practically pushing him onto the couch (it only takes one hand like what is yuma gonna do lol)

I like to believe Yakou’s like a worried mother hen for his agency's staff. Panicking as a first-time caretaker in years. ESPECIALLY with Yuma since he's very likely the frailest of the bunch. (he's a father now :3)

A happy-go-lucky/easy going/good-natured character lets the anger and frustration of the others in the group slide right off them during stressful times/illnesses and the like but they're more or less treated like the colloquial punching bag.

They eventually begin to fall ill themselves and retreat to recooperate and sleep it off.

Their friends eventually realise and paired with some uncomfy self-reflection they join to help their friend recover.

They're shocked when their normally relaxed and easy-going friend is terse and frustrated at their attempts at help though.

Their friend simply wants to sleep and doesn't want to deal with the group's bullshit

There’s something about a whumpee just sitting down. Not fainting, necessarily. Maybe they’re just about to faint, and they quietly just kneel on the ground at a time and place that doesn’t make sense. They don’t even have the capacity or willingness to articulate why they need to abruptly stop and sit. Maybe they’re catatonic while the others look at them.

Maybe a caretaker can see the dull, vacant look in their eyes and immediately senses that something is seriously wrong. Maybe the fainting comes just a few moments later.

KokoWendy Alternate-Canon Scenario

A little dialogue-style skit event I made based on this edit I did days ago. This would happen after the two of them part ways with Halara in Chapter 4 before going off on their own.

Yuma gets tired while walking the city with Kurumi and collapses from exhaustion, resulting in a fever. Causing Kurumi to take him back to a safe place and look after him 🌡️💕

Skit Below (Minor spoilers for Chapters 3 and 4)

The detective and informant go around Kamasaki gathering info. Kurumi talking to Yuma about the hidden lab, Yuma is dazed and not listening.

Yuma collapses

Kurumi leans down and puts her hand to his forehead

Kurumi Stands Back Up

Halara suddenly appears from elsewhere in front of them both

The three safely return to the agency's submarine. Halara leaves the two to go back to looking for the abandoned village.

Yuma is out of his raincoat, wrapped in a blanket sitting on the checkered sofa. He wakes up to find Kurumi sitting right beside him. The two of them are alone.

These two are so cute! God I love them so much.

Shinigami's not present here because she got mad and disappeared... x'D She would LMAO. (besides Yuma needs some peace and quiet)

And Yakou reluctantly leaves to go get medicine. Telling Kurumi to stay and watch over him. (he knows deep down he likes her >w<)

I love putting my ideas into the canon order of the game in between events. This of course is a different route from what happened in my sickfic. This one's purpose is just to fangirl over my ship 🥰💊
