people's reaction to nash dying head canons

here is the last of my death reaction head canons (for now, i might do alisa and stuff at some point in time). not proof read so i apologize for any spelling mistakes.

avery: over the years, he's become like a brother to her. to her, it would be like mourning her sister. she'd start feeling lost bc he's usually the person she'd go to for advice. she'd go to his grave often and play the guitar bc i head canon nash taught her how to. she'd sing him taylor swift songs and stuff. she'd spend a lot of time in his cowboy hat collection closet (yes he owns one) 'talking' to him. i mentioned this in my libby post, i believe, but her grief would be so evident that her fans (and haters) would notice it and comment on it. im gonna go a step further and say that they'd start commenting on her appearance (dark under eyes, losing weight) and they'd start saying super unreasonable stuff like 'she's a billionaire, she shouldn't be complaining'. it would really mess with her head and mental health. things would also become harder bc of jamie's grief but they'd work through it.

libby: she's be absolutely devastated obviously. everything she loves (baking, her clothing style, etc) would become something she despises. she'd start dressing more normal and would dye her hair a plain color like brown bc looking at herself in the mirror looking the way she did before would remind of all of the times nash called her beautiful/the love of his life. she'd become a shell of herself. she'd sell her food truck and everything that once brought her joy bc according to her 'she doesn't get to be happy if nash isn't here with her' or 'all of this is worthless now without nash'. i dont think she'd ever date again and if she were to, she'd end up with a toxic shitty man who beats her bc she sees nash as a once in a lifetime thing whom she never deserved. she would always be at his grave. shed only bake before going to see nash bc she knows he loves her baking, and it makes him happy.

jameson: jameson would obviously be crushed. again, alcohol would become a huge problem for him. i can see him pushing avery away and saying tons of mean shit to her in order to do so (not bc he wants to be alone but bc he doesn't want to bother her). they would eventually resolve and talk about this, but it did become an issue for a while. he'd leave cowboy hats at his grave and stuff as gifts so that nash is reminded of the people he loves. he'd start feeling lost, like avery, bc nash is the one who guided them all and gave them advice. he'd take tons of walks while drunk bc nash used to love them. i mentioned this in my xander post but he'd get prescribed pills to help with his insomnia bc nash's death would keep him from falling asleep. he'd remember all of the times he could have said or done smth different/spent more time with him, etc.

grayson: would literally stop working. unlike jameson and xander, nash was his only older brother meaning he doesn't have an older brother to ask for advice from anymore (jamie and xander still have him). he'd stop paying attention to his appearance. he wouldn't even bother putting on a suit. he'd start gardening bc nash used to love it even though he hates getting dirty. at some point though, he'd get back into working even though its hard bc he knows nash wouldn't like hearing he's given up on everything. i think i mentioned this is another post but he'd start smoking weed or smth to handle the stress and grief. he's literally always in the pool swimming trying to 'swim off' his grief. he wouldn't like talking about his grief with his brothers bc now that nash is gone, he's the responsible one and has to take care of them.

xander: like i say in literally every single one of my posts, he'd pretend he was fine. he crack his usual jokes and create gadgets to cheer people up just to ignore his own feelings. he stares at the sky quite often bc sometimes he'll see smth like a rainbow or a weirdly shaped cloud and it would remind him of nash. he created this cowboy hat shaped safe in his lab or whtv to store all of nash's favorite things in. they store it in the horse stables bc nash loves horses. like his brothers, he visits his grave quite often just to vent. that's the only time he allows himself to feel anything. he'd also feel responsible over his brothers. jamie is over here ruining his life and grayson is trying to pretend he's fine but its not working. hed constantly be looking for ways to help them (but not himself).

i would've added alisa, but i honestly don't know what to say for her so T-T.

i wanna talk about mcr's performance of sleep at mexico city in 2022 cause it means so much to me and ive GOTTA get this out of my brain before autism makes me explode !!

During this performance, i wanna start by talking about HOW important gerards use of vocal pedals are!! cause holy shit it changed my life and its opened up this whole realm of inspiration and ideas for me musically.

I write music a lot and im really trying to pursue it, but as a trans guy and a soprano its hard to use my voice in a way that feels right. cause like...i CAN sing but uts hard to use my voice in interesting ways when sometimes dysphoria makes it feel like my voice isnt MINE. I cant go on T for the foreseeable future cause of family reasons and financial ones...and i live in the UK so accessing gender affirming care is like splitting the atom sometimes, but i have stuff to say and ideas i want to use in my music, and im tired of waiting. trans people end up spending so much of their life waiting anyway, and i want to start doing something now.

I have ideas and i need to get them out cause sometimes i feel like they are eating me cause im so excited about doing something with my brain and my life ya know?

Thats where the vocal pedals come in, a way to manipulate my voice so uts still mine but ut sounds REALLY freaking cool!! you can express so much and di so many cool things with them, and dont get me wrong, people have been using them for YEARS, but live? you see it SO MUCH LESS and its SO POWERFUL.

so the pedals plus gerards performance style, which is emotional and raw but visibly you know its fun and interesting artistically to explore those emotions at this point in their career and i feel so inspired by it.

i want also mention the joan of arc of it all, cause of gerards connection to joan of arc it adds another layer to the performance as a whole on every level. and its SO special to me.

honestly might do a whole post about joan of arc cause i could talk about her and what she means in society and represents and her whole story and stuff for literally hours.

but in summary, holy fuck is this performance REALLY FREAKING COOL!!

jtta is SUCH an amazing work of art that my words fall short.. it’s rlly the best fanfiction i have EVER read and i’m sure it’ll continue to be my Number One forever. your writing style is absolutely beautiful and your choice of words is IMMACULATE. the way you describe certain scenes truly baffles me everytime like,, there’s people out there who are really able to write like this?? they can magically plant a mental imagine w colors and all in my head from??? i was originally going to make this a very long post about my yumes but anai's character as a whole is too confusing and honestly, not even game theory could dissect the amount of lore anai has:

scrapped ideas and an ungodly amount of anai lore from multiple different franchises:

-anai was actually supposed to be shipped with malleus (because i liked him at the time) but due to the age gap, i scrapped it (i didnt like how mal was 600+ and anai was 17) -they were then shipped w riddle for quite some time and i even ended up making ship art of them. -anai was based of the white rabbit but i didnt wanna whitewash (is that the right term) them so i just made them random ass rabbit -their overblot form was a whole withered bonnie mech suit mixed w some BATIM-style aesthetic -anai's dorm uniform was based of this:

now, moving on to enstars anai :>

-from memory, anai was originally shipped with kohaku and they were the producer for crazy:b -i sort of followed some kind of rich prince x pheasant sort of trope for their ship -anai's family wasn't as rich as kohaku's family and (from memory) his family prevented him from hanging out with anai. -i forgot most of the story but all i remember is trying to make some kind of ai cover for anai and kohaku to sing Just Be Friends (it never worked) and that at some point, Tsukasa was actually gonna be anai's love interest

FUCK IT, GENSHIN ANAI LORE:

-genshin anai was made all the way back in 2021 during my horrendous xiao era. -they were the pyro yaksha basically and from memory, they were rebirthed? idk -WAIT, I REMEMBER -ok so bear with me here, anai was basically this young girl from natlan who died in the archon war while trying to see their father again (who was in liyue). from memory, zhongli used ANAI'S DEAD BODY to try and sort of bring back to life the dead pyro yaksha but failed to do so because of 1. the body's horrendous state and 2. the power was too much for the body to handle. -they were obviously shipped with xiao -BUT THIS WAS SCRAPPED AND LATER REUSED (we'll get to that) -i remember anai got shipped with albedo as well as kaeya but i eventually settled for scara. -now back to the dead body part -this version of anai's story is much more messier -anai was a descendant of murata - the pyro archon. it was never specified if they were a direct descendant or just had some muratan?? blood in them. -anyways they were basically this very famous dancer who was prett well known (who was a half human half hybrid rabbit faunus or smth) and their name wasnt anai, it was clover. -basically clovers sister was jealous of their success and they killed clover. -murata literally did the same thing that zhongli did to anai in their earlier stories but she tried to bring back the dead pyro archon -it somehow worked -i honestly dont know how anai met scaramouche but basically they met him when he was still known as kabukimono/kunikuzushi (keep in mind, all of this was written before 3.1) -i basically ripped off dirty little traitor for some reason 💀 -after scara ran away w the gnosis and whatnot anai lore kinda just became messier from there -after the events of 3.1 i redid the whole ending for anai -THEY WERE SHIIPED WITH CYNO CUZ SCARA PUSHED THEM OFF HIS TRANSFORMERS ROBOT OR SOMETHING -no more genshin anai lore because its hurting my head just trying to remember how badly i fucked up their lore -LIKE THEIR LORE IS SO BAD NOT EVEN MATPAT COULD SOLVE THIS GAME THEORY

as a whole, i enjoyed myself a lot! it was very fun to listen to. there's something INSANE about hearing sh*wnu again. like wowwww i forgot how much i liked his voice??? it was such a joy, i think i ended up rlly latching to his lines. but hy*ngwon did rlly good too, i actually think his breathy tone (dunno how to describe it) was a rlly great fit for some of these songs, it was very neat. i feel like the entire ep sounded exactly like what i would expect from a unit with these two... idk but something about it just felt so natural. so i had a lot of fun! if i have any complaints, is that i wish it was a little longer... i RLLY could use a couple more songs, especially from hy*ngwon. as for more specific thoughts love me a little was reaaaally good, and i think it was the objective best choice as a title track so i'm glad they went with it. the chorus was SOOO good, its been stuck in my head all day. and the last part of the song was also sooo great, it had a rlly strong conclusion i feel. its rlly rlly cool to see hy*ngwon making title tracks, i reaaally hope he gets a chance to do it again. love therapy was not a fave but it had some rlly strong parts... i love love love the part where it's just hy*ngwon talk singing, it scratches such an itch for me. and that one high note by sh*wnu.... shaking throwing up /pos. roll with me was SO.... i think its my favorite. listen.... its the fucking piano... I KNOW IM SO PREDICTABLE BUT WELL.... it had a really fun darker vibe to it that i actually wasnt expecting, so i was very pleasantly surprised. and GODDD THAT PRECHORUS... TRULY A BANGER. play me was very cute, but i dont have too much to say about it. it was very fun but not a fav yknow. and lastly slow dance was SO fun and cute, its rlly romantic sounding and another personal fav. there's just something abt it. SO YES I HAD FUN... which is to be expected, i feel like its been a while since i've truly had anything negative to say abt anything mx releases which is sooo brainwashed of me but yknow 😔 ALSO i actually rlly dig the vibe of the cover. album covers in kpop are literally just text and a background, its getting so boring sjsbdbsbd yes this is still rlly simple but it has style to it yknow

outside of the music, the music video had some really cool shots, esp during the later half. but i was honestly kinda underwhelmed idkkkkk... I KNOW I SHOULDNT TRUST THEIR CONCEPT PHOTOS BUT LISTEN... THAT ONE VID THEY RELEASED WITH THE WEIRD ASS CREEPYPASTA VIBE?? they are literally just fucking with me at this point 😭

If the chorus was stronger I think this song would be a fave

Omg hy*ngwon composed the title track? Good for him. And yeah, the chorus is super catchy, and the build up to it is so good. Also the guitar at the end was SO good (<- extremely predictable for me). I was just listening to it again and I caught the subtle saxophone and IT SLAPPED......

Matchup Commission: Petal Style Ok! It’s been a while since I’ve sent any matchup requests lol. Anyways! Id like this one to be with Hríd! I’m 18, INTP, Libra, and 5’2. I’m a cis (at least I think so?) bi girl. Usually I’m very easygoing to the point of being a bit lazy, but when I’m drawing or working on something I tend to hyper focus for hours on end until it’s done. It’s pretty self destructive but I can’t really be productive otherwise. Im pretty outgoing despite being VERY depressed and I love meeting new people! I’m a bit of a hopeless romantic and loyal to a fault. I consider myself very sex positive but I’m overall pretty vanilla, save for having a thing for praise and being tied up. My hobbies, besides fencing, are mostly art (visual and musical) related— I needle felt, embroider, draw, sing, sculpt, you name it! I just can’t paint. I was classically trained as a kid in piano and clarinet. I also like collecting perfumes (and my friends say that I can be a bit pretentious about it). My body is pretty frail from being unathletic as hell and having POTS, and I’m often very fatigued. This leads to me taking a LOT of naps and sleeping in whenever I can. I take great care of my appearance and how I dress! Either im too lazy to put on anything other than pajamas or I go the whole nine yards and decide I have to be the best looking person in the room. I like the finer things in life but I often worry that it makes me seem greedy or selfish. High fashion, classical art, orchestral performances, formal events, and fine jewelry are all things I’d love to have or go to often but I’m a broke college kid so I have to settle for viewing from a distance. My love languages are gifts and words of affirmation! I hope this was enough, thank you in advance <3

Okay first off, mood at the cis(?) because me too girl. Secondly I think you and Hrid are going to get on famously. Ohh, I can just see it now... (Third, special note: I'm doing this a little different then some match ups I have in the past but I think it will come out better!)

It's a cold, dark winters night... One where you would normally find yourself wanting to curl into bed and sleep or enjoy a simple hobby like felting or needling... But there's an impromptu performance the heroes are putting on in the music hall, and you don't want to miss it, or a chance to put on something nicer than your usual summoners cloak! So you dress yourself in something nice, but not too crazy, this is just for fun after all! But you can't help but indulge in your finer taste a little. Still, you're ready in record time and eager to dance and play with the heroes!

It's as you're making way to the lovely music, considering dancing a bit or even joining the heroes playing instruments that you're hit by a sudden bout of fatigue; you're wobbly in your heels for a second, arms out to support yourself on the nearby wall but someone comes in your aid. Vision still a little blurred as you support yourself in their arms, you mummer a thank you as you take in their sent. It's subtle, but they smell like pine and mint.

"Summoner, are you alright?" You blink once as you look up at him. As your eyes meet, something just... clicks. It's like meeting for the first time again as your heart starts pumping. He looks so concerned for you, blue eyes solely trained on yours... It's a look, you realize, you could easily get lost in.

For Hrid, though, this crush has been festering in him for far too long... He always admired you on a surface level, for what you did for him and his family but it wasn't until he got to know you more did he realize just to what extent that went to. He fell hard and fast for you, from how hard you pushed yourself for your work and passions, to even with your disabilities you still tried to enjoy yourself.

When you respond to him "I'm alright Hird, since you caught me." With a warm smile is that he knows he can't let you leave his arms without telling you how he feels. Everything just feels so perfect in this moment, he can't help but let the words tumble from his lips.

"I love you." His words are warm and soft and genuine, but in that moment Hrid realizes his mistake as your eyes widen.

Thankfully, it all ended up alright; you feel the same of course, and after some teasing on his behalf the night ended up even better then you could hope; with Hrid by your side.

As I said, this is admiration that turned into genuine love. Hrid, I think, is the kind of person that doesn't really go searching for a love or romance. If anything, it catches him off guard and he has a hard time coming to terms with it. He's just dense in that way, I suppose! With you though, he couldn't stop it...

You're quite opposite in that way, being a hopeless romantic yourself! Once Hrid realized his feeling though, knowing how you are, he wanted to make things sweet and romantic when he confessed to you... the fact that it happened on accident because he got so overwhelmed of his feelings for you still haunts him!

But when he gets to cuddle up with you on a day where you're particularly tired, or when he gets to indulge in fencing with you, or when you share your love of perfume or high fashion or jewerly with him with that sweet genuine smile on his face... There's nowhere he'd rather be then with you.

That said, he might try to coddle you. He just worries! Just remind him that, while you do appreciate his help that you're also more then capable of taking care of yourself. He just wants you to know that he can take care of you (he's the eldest and the only boy he feels like he has to take care of absolutely everyone he loves). Turn the tables and take care of him! His love languages are acts of service and quality time, so while he'll certainly learn yours to indulge you (the kind of guy to see something you like and buy it before really thinking about it) and treat him too!

All and all, I see this as the kind of relationship that's warm and soft. Communication shouldn't be an issue but the two of you may have troubles sharing your burdens with one another, so don't be afriad to talk about them! You may have to corner and catch Hrid off guard for him to do the same (this is mister "I can carry everyones burdens" after all) but he can't bare to lie or hide things from you.

I really liked the halsey movie, I went into it with a grain of salt as the only other album movies I've seen was fall out boys and Melanie's, so I kinda expected ya know, weirdness and not so perfect acting lol, and im sure as halsey has taken up other acting projects they've heard the criticism and have done some work (I still haven't seen americana yet and I'm also pretty excited for maxxxine, also as someone who hasn't even seen X or pearl yet)

But I feel like the movie itself was based around a lot of halseys experiences with pregnancy, I fucking loved what you might call the "impregnation" scene, idk, something something, self induced body horror.

I don't know if it was worth the 12 bucks on amazon, but my sister bought it for me lol. Fall out boys movie was free on YouTube and also had some boobs, but maybe 12 bucks is the price you pay for imax and full frontal nudity from the artist themselves. I know nudity is more so relevant for ratings but for some reason my brain is correlating that with the cost lmfao

I really liked it too! I was a bit apprehensive, just because it was such a huge undertaking. I'd also seen Melanie's movie at that point, and of course jumped on the Lemonade train with Beyonce as soon as I could. Janelle Monae did a movie for their album Dirty Computer, too (which I adored.) So I was prepared for the whole "concept album film" thing, and I figured since Halsey already makes very cinematic music, they had a good chance of making a really cool film.

And I think IICHLIWP is a great film! I really loved the whole storyline about Lila and her pregnancy and how that was tied to her royalty. All the little hints and glimpses about the "Lilith" character, especially whenever Lila saw her in the mirror - it just made for a really cool kind of "legend" style story, when it all ends with Lila dying and Lilith coming to life. I think it gave Halsey a chance to work through their own complicated feelings about motherhood, pregnancy, and the way these things are both incredibly liberating and horrifying and limiting all at once. It's also just a very visually interesting film and I love the costumes and the makeup. (And hey, shoutout to Halsey's pregnancy titties, they looked so good 😂😂)

I will agree though with some of the criticism H has gotten around their acting. I think they're an incredible artist - they can paint, sing, dance, create incredible visual worlds, do gorgeous makeup, write beautiful poetry... it's probably okay that they aren't also the most talented actor in the world, lol. I tend to think that she's really good with like, facial expressions and body language, but something about her line reads often comes across as just a little stilted to me.

That being said, I also haven't seen her in Americana. And they were clearly talented enough to land a role in Maxxxine, which is a pretty big deal. Maybe she's grown and worked on it, like you said.

All in all I'm curious to see what she'll do as an actor. And I'm always excited about their music videos and the other visual/film mediums she does for their albums. I feel like she's already so great at so many things, and even if I end up being underwhelmed by her acting, I'll have a million more ways she's gonna impress me to enjoy. <3

Initial TTPD listening thoughts

I think i hyped this one up too much in my head. Frankly, i’m feeling conflicted. This post is an attempt to explain why. Here’s an itemized list, starting with the negative.

1. The writing. Obviously, Taylor’s talented with a pen. She can create a song in her sleep. This album simply felt like it lacked the special something that makes her music exceptional. The repetitive choruses, self-indulgently haughty word choices, and excess of contemporary references and name drops take away from the message of the song entirely. When fans decided that TTPD was going to be “a breakup album”, I didn’t know that meant it would linger so heavily on the same few sentiments about Joe. We get it Taylor, he cheated. You wanted to marry him and end up feeling exploited. You said that already… Most tracks left me thinking that the writing was pretty, but not good. I think of the simplicity of “Red”, how something like color can make for a clean, impactful metaphor in two lines. This was the opposite- so many words, so little substance.

2. The “vibe” (notice im not saying production, because i don’t claim to know shit about how music gets made): Jack. babe. what are we doing? A lot of TTPD felt like the same song over… and over… over… just like how I made this point already. There was also no sonic balance, each track blended into the next and I wouldn’t have noticed songs changing if it weren’t for Taylor singing the song titles many times each.

3. THE TRACK FIVE: WHY WOULD YOU PUT THE WEAKEST SONG IN THIS COVETED POSITION??? WHY??? SO LONG LONDON WAS BORING, AND IM NOT AFRAID TO SAY IT!

4. “diaristic” or “unrefined”? - all of Taylor’s previous 10 eras have felt like they were nicely polished before release. This time, the filter was gone, and many of the tracks gave the impression of being frantically scratched on an envelope in the early hours. I can understand how this feeds into the Taylor Swift brand of connecting personally to fans, allowing us the impression of friendship with her. However, for me, it read as careless, and actually decreased the album’s relatability. Hyper specific descriptions of her own breakup experience were not enjoyable to listen to, nor did they serve to advance any overarching narratives in the album.

Now, none of what I said applied to every track. I have some positive things to say as well!

1. My favorite tracks: who’s afraid, but daddy I love him, the smallest man, and clara bow

2. I loved the album’s examination of fame and Taylor Swift as a spectacle. TTPD shined when it wasn’t just being “a breakup album”, because it’s clear that this time in Tay’s life was so much more than the end of a long term relationship. The start of the Eras tour saw Taylor on top of the world, subject to all the criticism that comes with it. I felt her pain, especially in the last section of Clara Bow. She’s part of a long history of famous women being treated as sources of entertainment instead of people.

3. Love love love the aesthetic of this era. Can’t wait to see how the lore is expanded in the Fortnight music video.

4. The Florence Welch feature was very well done. Their voices blended beautifully, and it was a nice median of their musical styles. As a former Floridian, the line “Florida’s a hell of a drug” made me collapse laughing.

So there we have it! A new era! Please don’t have my head for this post, but ofc feel free to disagree or share your own thoughts :)

ok ok im doing the ji//m/in music review of 2023 here cause that way i can let it out also i’m a music nerd and i’m obsessive and unhinged it’s terrible i need to overanalyze everything and slap little thoughts abt it and this song frustrated me a lot by sheer potential/amazement etc so ye whatevs this is my lonely corner anywayz 

im so fkcing curious abt the album and i mean it, but i’m also v frustrated with the new song. like,, the production is crazy, literally the music is so intense & beautiful, orchestras & wind instruments is just such a wild ride and i’m so into it (i was hyped from the trailer tbh i knew itd be crazy). the harmonies are Haunting. the two together is just an insanely intense mix of emotions. it feels like being plunged into a RAW emotion immediately, you could use this music for dark movies, crash scenes, religious deaths, horror movies, and it would fit perfectly cause it’s That intense. i love it sm. 

// the clip is very seemingly simple which i really love cause it balances out perfectly with the music, like, you couldn’t have different decors and rooms and like idk sexy/cute closeups or whatever i think it would just break the flow with such an intense music. so, you have to shoot like a short movie, perfect. i feel like it’s a direct play with like,, expectations. “this is what you want, this is what i show you, but set me free from this” it’s very ,,, intriguing. that the lyrics would prone being set free but ,,, clearly the choreo jimin does, it’s smthg you’ve seen before (i don’t mean like, it’s recycled or whatever, but like, the movements are strong, kind of sensual, the fact that he’s dancing at all really, that’s the style that people expect and love from him), the outfit its Litcherally what everyone who’s trying to be a bad boy in kpop wears (big chunky boots with the chunky bomber jacket and cargo pants like, sure). 

so it’s like. you’re trapping yourself. you sing abt being free. you’re not freeing yourself at all. you’re literally in a huis clos, that looks like a prison. there’s no color, there’s no life except for the dancing, it’s so fkcing depressing to see such a cage, but it Looks cool too, right ? but the group choreo !! i love it, it joins the haunting voices perfectly. the voices are literally screaming at you with anguish, and the dancers are always in a role of being agressors to jimin, pointing fingers from the ground, from higher up, surrounding him, making noise (the gestual i mean is very noisy always all limbs moving etc) looking at him, and then lifting him up, touching him until he falls down and “dies”. horror movie, much. i love that, it’s like,,, this is what you want, this is what i give you, you still destroy me. thats kind of what i got, esp with the poem, which is very pretty, placed on the part of his body that’s nude. i love that his body becomes art but becomes politic in that way ; that’s where you’ll be looking so read then. but will you care abt it anyway ? it’s all depressing symbolism to me tbh but i love it anyways

the ending with the white clad ji//m/in, my thoughts are either,,, is this the inner self that’s gotten out (the lyrics want that i guess), or is it just you showing the new expectation that you’ve carved out.. cause technically, he is still trapped in the scene, he is showing something that people also want ; purity, no scandals, softness, the perfect angel side of him. so my first thought was that,, i didn’t feel like that was really a “being set free” resolution, like to believe that you’re truly being set free i’d need to see something else because this narrative isn’t really showing it. and then like,,, i learnt this was the last song of the album. and that made me feel like, oh is that it ? kinda broke my heart in a way. it made me think abt Arson and how it’s the last song of JITB’s whole trajectory, and with Arson i feel like it’s about reclaiming the control of something uncontrollable. the ending note is “i get to chose to burn it all or extinguish the fire” kinda,,, it’s strong and full of anger and pride and self doubt, but it ends on this note that feels like this is it, you know, new chapter now, i’m looking at a crossroad of choices. it feels Good to hear. set me free pt2 just feels daunting like,,, idk it made me feel like Ji//m/in (im talking abt the persona etc i don’t know the guy this is abt a narrative yadayada) ,,, idk the dilemna is still going. it’s like,, claiming you’re finally free but still begging to be set free till the end, doing it by looking straight at the camera and taunting you (is this what u wanna see ? am i free now ? will you read me ? etc), in a way it feels he’s reclaiming his agency/control by doing this, but also like he doesn’t believe it profundly at all. it’s like. i’ve done it now, will you get it anyways, i don’t think so, i’ll just be this other part now, you will never know me. i think that was my feeling overall. you will never know him, he’s not sharing that, he’s showing surface in many ways, and in details he’s showing more, but even that more isn’t that much and will never be clear. it’s intriguing, i’m intrigued, i’m also frustrated because i honestly would just really like to see the whole album to get a feel for everything and place it all in context but can’t do that so let’s ride, and idk, part of me would enjoy more clarity/substance

// next point,,, music is music first. and that makes me so Mad lmfao and this is personal taste you know but i was quiteeee disappointed by the song, because i honestly think it has the best & worst at the same time ? and that makes me Maaad i really want to love the song because the fkcing instrumentals you know, but i can’t because i don’t think his voice is well placed on the track. like, listen. what pple call autotune even tho it’s not, its actually filters, anyways im annoying lets call it autotune, it was too agressive for his voice i think. he has a very beautiful tone and texture, his lower register in Promise is just insane. so like... the point was to make his soft voice agressive, alright, the song calls for energy and agressiveness, Alllright. but it doesn’t feel like it fits to me my ears just don’ttt like that. 

i think his voice sounds different because he’s singing in english, im not a fancy music nerd im just a music nerd from years of digging, but basically language means you sing differently, mostly because the sounds are different, the way you hold your tongue, head, the way you use your throat is different depending on those sounds. so basically,,, korean and english are actually Very far apart in terms of sounds, like, fr it’s reaaaally hard to go from one to the other for learning cause it’s so wildly different, pronunciation is Hard, but just getting used to using your vocal chords and throat and jaw all that, is also hard because we have Habits and we need to learn New habits in Our Bodies literally (language is insane, its basically why going on T is so fkcing weird for voice changes cause like,,, thats a whole part of ur body that u gotta learn to reuse and it Hurrrts ? and it’s a very weird process). back to the topic, in english it feels like he’s singing with a more open-throat sound in lower registers and im gonna be honest i don’t like that because it sounds uncomfortable.. it’s smthg i personnally notice in singers and that i don’t like hearing,, when something feels unnatural. his english in higher register ? delicious. the high notes on set me FreeEEE ? beautiful !!! fits the music so fkcing well !! 

but the lower registers with that unnatural singing feeling AND the haannnddful of modifyers making it v robotic and harsh, thats just taking me Out of it. pple love that cause they feel like he’s playing two different people, i Get that and in theory that’s so cool but tbh i just don’t think the execution ended up that good. idk. honestly wonder how that could’ve gone ? im not a vocal coach nor a musician nor a singer so i wouldnt know shit abt that lmfao but really in terms of details thats just bugging me cause it makes me feel like,,, damn you were So close. the concept was cool but this isn’t hitting. cause it’s like,, the higher notes are this beautiful insanely pretty moments but every 0.2sec theyre cut back to the uneasiness and i don’t like that,,,, maybe it would’ve deserved more lyrics,,, like instead of being low NOW YEA NOW YEA you come in with a low singing sentence idk maybe that would’ve felt less empty/gratting,,, wonderinnnggg. anyways the trap bridge just took me out,,, i just,, idk i don’t feel it fits his voice again, i don’t like ji//m/in rapping actually i don’t think he’s a rapper like idk he’s a good singer but rapping is a whole other category and thats that. i liked his verse in T/ony Mon/tana because he used his voice Differently, he was spitting it out, it doesn’t come from an open throat singing, it was litcherally using a hoarse voice, which just works for agressivity but also he does v well !! like he’s literally alternating between breaking his voice to sound agressive which he Does in concerts sometimes and all and is cool as hell, and then singing very calmly but BASICALLY the hoarse texture works !!! my hypothesis is like,, the open throat thingy is because he’s screaming (HEY FOOLS ! part like,, power through screaming it out, many rappers do that in concerts because of the hype etc so like rather than rapping like u usually do you’re shouting it out), buuuttt not everyone can shout a performance to get higher energy and make it sound good. many rappers Don’t sound that good when they shout at concerts, cause that’s not their typical texture or whatever or it just loses the edgy touch of their texture before (do i make sense, god i hope no one in music reads me like ever). how do i equate that to make sense... J/h/ope singing at Lolla, you can literally tell at some point that he’s singing in low register but gave his voice too much power (shouting), had bad notes, so finished the sentence and for the next sentence got back to a quieter voice,you can hear Less well cause like, the whole crowd yelling thingy, but thats were his notes were correct cause thats were his voice is. anyways. fun bit to illustrate that nobody gets but me but lets gooo cowboys. anyways, the ending is pretty, i wouldn’t have added that last high “set me free”, i think letting his voice disappear slowly and ending with the other backing vocals would have felt more poetic, but whatevs. i’d say overrall,,, i think, the song would’ve been better with a lot more textures, instead of voice modifyers and gratting filters, you know like,, if you wanna get angry and go hard, then your voice needs to go Angry and go Hard, thats my mood (make it Hurt, make it punk, layer the fuck out of it, add weird fcking details, idk, anything tbh)

// in terms of lyrics huhhhh,,, i don’t dig it particularly, i think the message is well, pretty clear, some shout outs to other songs, his past self, etc. tbh i just don’t think the imagery is particularly original ? like,, free & butterfly (yes but it’s a nod to other songs yadayada i know i was there,,,, it’s sentimental but i’m an annoying person looking at the song as a song also) it’s like,, it’s all things you’ve read/heard before in terms of actual words. which like, i guess we can’t Invent new words but that’s where poetry and imagery come from, intricacies and all that jazz, it’s pretty fun to play with, and i feel like, well, the song is pretty straight forward so at least it’s clear but it’s not rocking my jams too much. i like the imagery of “raise your hands for the past me” cause it can be read both as “congrats for getting there” and mockery, like pointing finger, which they all do in the choreo, so i think it sounds bittersweet which i Like. i also feel like the lyrics really put in context the narrative of the video (duh ig) because the maze never really leaves even tho the chorus begs for freedom (wandered/stuck in/at the edge/still in). and the juxtaposition between “finally free” vs. “set me free” vs. “primetime/finally begun” vs. “forget/forget” and obvs “insane/sane” are the most interesting parts in terms of lyrics & depth. but yeah. i don’t particularly vibe with the fuck offs and you fools and the i never stops and fuck all your opps cause like,,, mmmh,, idk why i feel like it’s just not hitting. why is it not hitting tbh ? i Wonder. maybe because it doesn’t feel that tightly knit with the rest of the song, maybe because his voice doesn’t really push the feeling through enough ? it kind of feels very randomly put there, musically at least, instead of Hitting right. my guess is that i’d say the song lacks actual words ? it was a gut feeling like, it’s too empty, it’s too general, if it was more precise, more dense, it would really balance out the fkcing Sheer craziness of the music & background vocals. maybe MORE jim///in vocals juxtaposed too ? maybe if he really played with having many voices !!! like, tbh, many singers create texture by singing themselves in different keys (damn that was the word i searched for all along) and stacking those up (ie. literally any pop artist ig idk Ha/rry Sty//les does it in Matilda very clearly, i think thats what came up first in my brain anyways, it adds this kind of, haunting feeling because you can’t clearly distinguish the other keys but you still hear them, it’s like,, little ghost voices, adding the same emotion but slightly different versions of it), but i still think just packing more words would’ve made the song feel more anchored. cause in the end the verses are super empty,, esp the “not yet, not yet” and then “now yeah, now yeah” that feels so unfulfilling !!! just stock em up, get more up there. and i get that it works w the message but it just idk. im not fed, like, musically. 

//overall,,, hmm, i guess it boils down to i vibed with it in theory & sentiment, but the actual song just leaves me unsatisfied. sadly. and its like, tragic, cause thats kind of the point of the song to be free from judgement and reception etc, but alas, i just didn’t really reception it. but tbh i think music and art is just about learning & growing, and i think that’s what he’s doing and will do all his life just like me. honestly i always have respect for artists who Do try to make something honest and true. i think that’s what he was going for, cause the music proves it, and the care proves it, so i’m gonna sit my ass and say that,,, this isn’t a song empty of Meaning it’s a song that struggles to bring it out into Emotion. like, actual emotion, followed through all the way not just with the instrumentals and background vocals cause those are Very emotional, but through technique and creativity and depth. it’s too neat. that sounds super harsh cause i just use direct words all my life but anyways. lets get it. end of my music rant. will come back here for all my music rants from now on cause this is litcherally an empty space and my friends can’t bear the music obsession so, good for me.

Y/N screams the lyrics at the top of her lungs, her voice echoing off the walls of their living room.

Y/N loves Taylor Swift. Always has, always will. She remembers Taylor in every core memory of her life; from her debut album being one of the only things downloaded on her iPod Nano (sans a couple of songs from Nickelback, Eminem, 3 Doors Down, and that one song by Hot Chelle Rae), to drowning in her first break up with the help of Dear John. She had instinctively played 22 over and over and over for the entirety of her 22nd birthday. Taylor was there in Y/N's fondest memories, painted in beautiful shades of red when her high school girlfriend learned Holy Ground on the guitar for her. And after, when said girlfriend dumped her and Y/N laid in bed listening to I Almost Do for a week straight.

Taylor has always been there for Y/N. In every breakup, every first date, every fight, every memory and moment... Y/N never felt alone because she knew she had Taylor Swift. Someone to put her deepest feelings into words and explain every emotion possible through gorgeous melodies.

So when Blondie had posted about the release of her re-recorded music, Y/N started counting down the days. She was so excited (and devastated) to listen to one of her favorite artists' music for the first time all over again. Being able to relive the time in her life when she first heard the addicting songs, when she was younger and knew less about the impending future. Before she knew that one day in August, she would run into the love of her life at the studio (a place she never frequented and was only there on the accompaniment of her best friend who worked there, her friend needing to "swing by the studio for something quick before we go to the movies"). Before she knew that the love of her life would be a world famous, tall, British man that sold out stadiums and had the voice of an angel, who loved her cat socks and red painted nails. Who never refrained from calling her the nickname he had given her after always seeing her so shy. The name 'Skittish' becoming something she loved to hear despite her countless empty pleas to stop to the gorgeous man. And who didn't complain when she had developed her own special name for him, 'Trouble', after finding out that she was a swiftie.

For once, she was able to understand the true love that her favorite artist always sang about. Not even bothered by the fact that her boyfriend had once dated Taylor. In fact, after Y/N and Harry's first date, with the call of a goodbye and her front door closing, she had giddily ran around her apartment, listening to Style and Gorgeous playing from her phone. Taylor was there for their first date, their first kiss, and even the day Y/N moved in with Harry.

Since the alarm had sounded from her phone at the drop of midnight, Y/N had been blasting Red (Taylor's Version) from her speakers and screaming (and crying) along to the familiar lyrics. Gasping and replaying the new tracks on the album when she eventually got to them. After only the second time fully running through the entire record, Y/N had already been singing every lyric to every new song and shouting a passionate "Fuck Jake Gyllenhall!" in the short silences between the tracks.

"And that made me want to die!" Y/N shouted so loud, she would've been nervous about getting several noise complaints if she hadn't recently moved into Harry's place. Clad in her fuzzy cat socks and her warm, oversized cardigan, she stood dancing like a mad woman on the kitchen countertop—singing into the TV remote in true "I'm home alone and I'm throwing my own dance party" fashion.

Harry had told his love that morning before he left that he would be stuck in meetings all day and probably wouldn't be home until late. Y/N pouted a little, always missing him loads when he left, but she understood that his job was very important to him, which made it important to her, and that his new line of beauty products for Pleasing would have him away from home a lot more than she preferred.

So it was no surprise that amidst the blasting music and dancing around with a glass of wine in her hand, she didn't hear Harry come through the door.

Harry stands quietly in the foyer, trying so desperately to keep his amused chuckles to himself as to not disturb the little show she's putting on. The smirk that keeps growing bigger on his lips almost makes his cheeks hurt as he watches Y/N scream out lyrics from his ex.

If it was anyone else, their boyfriend would probably be upset or uncomfortable at their girlfriend singing along to their ex's music, especially if one of their favorites was rumored to be about him. But Harry couldn't be more flattered, he loves to see her so excited about an artist and despite his history, Harry actually listens to Taylor's music quite often. Significantly more now that the two are dating.

As Y/N, still unknowing of Harry's presence, sings out to the empty kitchen, Harry sneaks closer towards his adorable love belting her heart out.

He loves hearing her sing. Something about her voice always makes him feel a certain way. Y/N never really sings in front of him because she knows she's not a professional like him and she thinks it's embarrassing. Harry, on the other hand, cherishes the few moments he's been able to hear her sweet voice and so there was no question he got very excited when he walked into their home to hear her harmonizing with the melodies.

After she made her way off the counter top during Harry's quiet admiration, he sneaks up behind her and slinks his arms around her waist.

Frightened at the fact someone was home, Y/N turned around frantically in his arms with a gasp, "Ah!".

"You have such a lovely voice, Kitten." The familiar pet name slipping from his lips with a giddy smile.

"H, you scared me! I thought you weren't gonna be home 'til later." She pouts, trying to catch her breath.

"'M sorry, lovie. Meetings wrapped up sooner than I thought." He kisses her pout away to see her smile back at him. "And I'm glad they did because I quite enjoyed the little performance you put on."

An embarrassed blush flushes her face, "Stop, H." She whines out, looking down at her hands playing with his button up blouse.

"Oh, don't get shy now. You were playing MSG just then." He teases, his hands lovingly squeezing at her sides.

"Actually, I was playing to Rose Garden." She playfully quips back with a Taylor reference.

Harry playfully shakes his head at Y/N's antics, leaning in to plant a kiss on her lips. Her soft ones fitting between his, Y/N hums in content into his mouth, the two taking in the sweet moment they have in quiet. They never really have the time to be like this—so loving and touchy in an intimate, quiet moment—since Harry started working in the studio more and going to meetings, and Y/N working on her portfolio for the new graphic design firm she's applying for.

Harry pouts when Y/N pulls away from the intimate kiss to sing out the next part of the song coming up, "It's supposed to be fun, turning twenty-one."

Harry drinks up her giddy smile, twirling her around under their conjoined hands and joining in with her to scream the next verse, "Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it. I'd like to be my own self again, but I'm still trying to find it!"

The couple dances around the kitchen like it's a dance floor, singing out the sad lyrics with passion as they jump around with contradicting, giddy grins on their faces. As the song comes to a slow end, Harry pulls Y/N closer into his arms.

"I love you so much, Skittish." Harry gushes, her special nickname falling from his lips.

"I love you so much more, Trouble." Y/N smiles with his own pet name.

"Impossible." He whispered before kissing her soft lips once more.

it’s definitely the way the both of you guys can practically read each other’s expressions just by staring into each other’s eyes it’s sorta telepathic?? im half joking

he absolutely loves the way you look away bashfully when you realize he’s staring at you— as you try to pretend he wasn’t just staring at you not so discreetly

and if you feel like it, you’ll stare back at him— totally teasing him with your eyes, as he slowly realizes that you’ve caught him staring

people are so easily intimidated by him, so people don’t talk at him when he says some shit

so he’ll be genuinely surprised if you talk back at him, because it shows him that you're not afraid of him (and that’s important in a relationship with bakugou) 

when you put his face in his palms. he’ll scowl and tell you off, but he actually likes holding your face in his palms

his hands are naturally clammy, so he’s secretly so insecure about them, and if you show him that you really don’t care- then.. that’ll keep him up at night. 

same thing with shouto, but if you run to him for warm in colder weathers, that’ll give him an ego boost. 

knowing that you’ll only look for him, whenever you feel cold makes him feel all “mushy” inside. again, like how bakugou is- he’ll pretend he absolutely despises it but he’ll actually love it.

mild spice here- but seeing you all worn out, panting under him when he spars with you is something that’ll leave him speechless for the rest of the day. man can’t stop thinking about it, and he has to restrain himself. 

last but not the least- it’s when you touch/play with his hair.

this is a really weird one but.. when you pick up things with your feet (bonus points if you do it with ease.)

when you start fixing your hair, doing whatever to it— he’s just in awe. (have you hypnotized him with your beauty?)

get him things for his hair like headbands, scrunchies, little barretts and pigtails

he’ll keep it in for as long as he can— since his hair is a little wild, a little braid or ponytail wouldn’t hurt, right?
