SPOILERS for jjk 236
the afterlife section was insane n almost reads like it was written by a doujin author
i think this is the first time we ever see some semblance of regret from geto’s perspective and it makes it so much more bittersweet when considering that it’s almost certainly just an illusion or a figment of gojo’s imagination as he lays dying.
the FIRST thing he thinks about in his last breath is to imagine a geto who was regretful, while in canon he never showed that at all…saying “no matter what, i hate monkeys” and “in a world like this, i cant laugh from my heart” to his best friend AS HE BLEEDS OUT..at least say something nice damn
geto was so afraid of regretting his decision that he made sure there was no chance he could ever go back to his old life again, cutting ties with the home he once found in jujutsu society to create a new home for himself
in that way, i think geto is very future-oriented compared to gojo being constantly stuck in the past; geto was 100% dedicated to his revolution which was (as with most revolutions) all about seeking a new future because the state of the present was unacceptable
gojo on the other hand stuck with the existing system, and we’re shown over and over again how he cannot help but linger on the past. gojo’s present tense “My best friend, the only one I have” to geto’s future tense “He was my best friend.” gojo who didnt dispose of the body. gojo who made that face when seeing kenjaku. gojo who teleported immediately to kenjaku after being unboxed... his narrative has been very focused on his lingering attachment to the past and his refusal to let go; even his choice in becoming a teacher was influenced by his wish of preventing the past from happening again
back to the recent chapter, gojo imagining a life where geto is there to cheer him on and saying that’s the only way he could be completely satisfied??? hello 😭😭😭 the fact that geto is in his gojokesa and not a teacher uniform makes me rip my skin off he really thought abt how things could’ve been with geto and regretted how things turned out so much ahhhhh
imagining geto crying too, the “…….ha ha” I FEEL HOMICIDAL . gojo (presumably) one sidedly wanted geto to feel regret while geto continued to push forward
well its still likely that geto was regretful in some way, hes very repressive about his emotions and never fully expressed how he feels to other characters (which is what led to his downward spiral in the first place) so perhaps he did carry regret that he refuses to think about. but one thing for sure is that he absolutely valued principle and acting with “meaning” over the bond he forged with gojo, and i think he felt so cornered by the system that gojo too became a threat to him. while for gojo, his bond with geto was everything to him and completely changed the course of his life. if he never met gojo, he would be more similar to the child gojo, someone emotionless and brutal who followed his old morality
gojo’s perspective on everything is just… my head hurts aggh…..

━━━━━━━━━━━
Jay was backed into a corner, few of the many criminals they were facing had isolated him and likely his fellow ninja as well, with no possible way to ask for backup nor any routes to escape.
The underling hanging from Jay's hand dropped to the ground unconscious as he let go of his grip, Just like those that came before they ended up here, Jay’s foes pause as they take cautious strides forward.
The one leading the underlings steps forward, his mask was off unlike the rest who hid their identities under their hooded masks, it was clear from his expression and the way he held himself, the extent of his loyalty to his cause.
His eyes shifted at his wounded comrade on the ground, then looked back up at Jay. “Jay Walker.” The man began, his amber eyes glared at Jay.
Anger was obvious in his expression, but what could have led that anger to surface? The conviction to his cause and to end his enemy that have been a roadblock to achieving such goals. Or perhaps… concern…. Concern for his fallen comrades, or thinking of the possibility of how many more will fall if they continue to prolong this battle?
“That's Impossible”
“You're in no condition to continue fighting, surrender now.”
The man said sternly. Standing tall in front of the wounded and worn out Ninja, yet he doesn't seem to boast nor mock Jay. The firmness in his words yet the slight plea to end this struggle.
“Ninja never quit.” The words came out like a broken record. Triggering for the man to look back at Jay sharply just as the man snaps. “Just give it up already! Do you even think that we want to fight? Most casualties would've been avoided entirely if it weren't for you Ninja intervening! We didn't want to fight! But you leave us no choice.”
The man said as his hand quickly raised that held his gun. A firm conviction in his eyes as if he had made his decision. “You know, even if you Ninja succeed. I'll make sure to bring at least one of their pillars down, for bringing everything we've worked so hard for to crumble.”
The barrel points towards Jay, the man’s finger tightly holding the trigger, yet his aim wasn't stable, his conviction was firm, the man was sure of it. Yet… why is his hand quivering? Was this what it felt like to hold one's life in your hands? How could anyone ever…
This brings back memories.
“I’ll make sure to show you what it felt like for them to die alone.”
The man eyed the Ninja coldly, hiding himself behind an apathetic mask, his underlings stiffened and on edge as they held their own weapons firmly. The air was heavy with the man’s declaration being met with silence.
Then came a bitter laugh.
Jay’s shoulders shook as he cackled. It sounded broken and mad. Like a string was snapped as the Ninja slowly moved to hold himself up once more from his hunched position, with his head still facing down.
His curls fall to cover his face, making it impossible to see his expression other than the strained smile on his lips.
“Oh, if only…” Jay said as he stood back up, with his words laced with animosity.
“What?” the man’s anger boiled at the Ninja’s response.
“How unfortunate.“ Jay sighed, sounding almost disappointed, his eyes shifting back to the man, his gaze darkened as the air shifted. His body moved to face the man and his underlings despite how worn out and bruised he was, like a broken marionette still forced to play and perform. It would’ve been admirable if it weren't for the pain and desperation in the Ninja’s eyes.
Rather than a soldier ready to fight once more with rekindled spirit… the man saw a broken captive wanting release from its prison even if that release meant death.
“You don't know just how much I'd kill for that…”

Omori Crossover AU except it's actually Angst [Various Spoilers]
All the characters don't appear at once, only when it's most thematically or dramatically appropriate.
Canon Sunny meets (O)Mari and both think they're hallucinating.
Endless Sunny and Omori meet up with other Sunnys and they start to panic about whether their own Omori was real or not. TMAWH Sunny knows for a fact his is not, but now everyone else is not so sure.
Characters from Fluff writing where no one dies just spontaneously see one of their friends be utterly depressed or out of character, only to find out this one apparently killed somebody. (Fluff Aubrey working a Cafe shift sees depressed Mari order twelve expressos and smile her way through the day).
Eye for an Eye Basil meets YBM Basil and they have a much needed heart to heart.
Sunny's mom and Hero are horrified to hear about YBM Hero.
It's the climax of Pursuit AU, and Hero is running away, but runs into one of the Maris. She is horrified by him.
The Pursuit characters having a REAL hard time trusting any of the Heros.
The Bad Endings exist as well, and multiple unfortunate sightings happen.
The Eline YT video gang is also here.
A bunch of the Good Ending characters get together like a council and decide what to do for the Bad Ending characters. Should they get directly involved? Guide them gently? Help them heal? Straight up tell the truth as they think they know it (some patterns are obvious, some are not)?
Then the Emori gang shows up as Comfort/ Comedy Relief, because they are somehow the healthiest group as a whole, but different enough that any trauma associated with that specific character is muted.
Also, there are now at least 6 Graves where before there was only Mari's.

Time for a headcanon that probably no one cares abt but I am going to share because Exandroth brainrot is real. SPOILERS for Apotheosis.
To me, angels die and form as if they were stars. And Exandroth formed honestly not that long before the events of Apotheosis. Exandroth was relatively powerful and full of enthusiasm to be the Angel of Justice and Retribution as he was born to be. But things didn't go his way. Exandroth WANTED to be a force of nature that cast judgement and enacted retribution on those deserving, but the gods weren't too impressed with this sentiment and basically told Exandroth to settle the fuck down. Exandroth was also just in a weird situation in the heirarchy being not close enough to the gods to associate with them but also not close enough with the other celestial beings to socialise too much.
What I'm saying is that Exandroth was a young, not well socialised little thing that was upset in his position. He had the spark of what Zuen NEEDED to enact his plan. And just as Zuen picked and manipulated Rumi and Thanatos to fit his plans, and he did the same to Exandroth. Any other celestial being would have called Zuen out of his mind, rejected the plan, but Exandroth was PERFECT.
It wouldn't take much, right? If Zuen was upfront and told Exandroth about the cycle, how they were stuck in stagnation, Exandroth would have been thrown into COMPLETE disillusionment. And it would have easily reinforced any thoughts of Exandroth's that it was trapped and a slave to the gods. Being presented with the option to commit treachery, to go along with this plan to kill the gods? To become its own master? Oh there was NO hesitation, Exandroth would absolutely go along with whatever Zuen wanted to. Exandroth had basically no attachment of ANY kind to the celestial realm, why would it care if he destroyed it?
Zuen doesn't really keep the angel in check at all, Exandroth becoming more twisted and OBSESSED with killing the gods. Just warping its whole identity around this need to be free. Exandroth is entrenched in his own warped narrative and sense of retribution and justice, disconnected from others.
And uhhh yeah. Then Apotheosis happens. With Exandroth just. Fucking barely not deciding to kill the gods itself. Because it knows its too weak to do that. So he waits until he meets whoever his two partners in crime are meant to be. Who Zuen told him vaguely about but definitely didn't set up Exandroth for a good time because. Zuen a manipulative bitch.
Anyways, this is a post about how Exandroth is an asshole but is more of an asshole because Zuen sucks. Zuen SUCKSSS.

if i got a nickel for seeing a ship end with a chatacter who leaves to do something greater/fulfilling their purpose and help more ppl, but at the expense of leaving the love of their life alone and letting them lose their previous purpose...I'd get two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Friendly reminder that this conversation takes place in 01x03:
Note:
The ambiguity of his response to Morgana.
His choice of words. The right person to love. Not woman. Person.
And then, only one (1) episode later:
He didn’t even hesitate.
It seems he had, in fact, found the right person to love.

Modern au where steddie are dating long distance.
They meet online, chatting about the fanfiction that Eddie writes and Steve reads. They chat about shared interests in tv, and movies, and music. About shitty parents and coming out. And then it sort of evolves from there.
Messaging, turns into phone calls, turns in video calls, turns into racing hearts and sweaty palms when they see a notification from the other. Turns into counting down the seconds until they can open their laptops and call. Turns into hardcore longing, and pining, and whispering I like you through the screen.
They start dating.
Steve will send him messages ending in hearts and kisses. Will send him thirst trap photos he takes at the gym. Takes photos of the dinner he makes and sends it to Eddie with captions saying he's saving him a piece <3. Learns to make Eddie's favourite foods, so he can make them for him when they meet.
Eddie sends him previews of the fic he's writing. Photos of him performing with his band, sweaty and smiling. Serenades him over video call, acoustic guitar perched in his lap. Watches the basketball with Steve, each from their respective living rooms.
He wonders what it would be like if they were together. If Steve could cook him the dinner he learnt just for him, if Eddie could curl into his side as they watch the game together, Steve whispering the rules of basketball into his ear.
He wonders what it would be like to kiss Steve. To feel those plump lips on his. To taste him. His sweat, his flavoured chapstick. Would he put his hands on his waist? His jaw? Cradle his face? Would he make it slow and sweet? Or rushed and desperate? Would Steve whisper I love you into the warmth of Eddie's mouth?
But they live on opposite sides of the country.
He loves what they have. He loves having Steve. But Eddie wants what other people have. Would like to go on a date that isn't through a laptop. Would like to be able to kiss and hug and even just touch his boyfriend.

I wouldn't say Ted Lasso did any of its abuse/abuse recovery narratives "well" but I do think they did parts of all of them like really well, which is what makes it all so incredibly frustrating. Like, showing how hard it can be to intervene by having the Diamond Dogs be avoidant and non-confrontational despite their mutual concern about Beard's relationship with Jane, but then having Higgins step up and say something anyway (and even though Beard didn't take his advice, it still felt like okay, this is a good, this is a realistic and messy and complicated narrative to tell that nevertheless highlights the importance of speaking up and being there for your friends even if it doesn't always work out how you'd planned), having Beard & Roy jump in to help Jamie at Wembley and Roy respond so well to Jamie's story in Amsterdam, humanizing Rupert in International Break and giving the backstory for why Rebecca fell in love with him and offering them a moment of real connection again without once pushing the narrative that he should be forgiven or that Rebecca even considers for a second taking him back...all that shit was GOOD!!! it was really nuanced and complex and good!! andddd then it ended with the BeardJane wedding, a James Tartt Sr. forgiveness agenda and Rupert morphing immediately into an over-the-top cartoon villain like what 😭 they had the capacity...and yet!!! nooooooo.

dont normally post about drama but this seems relevant:
im seeing a lot of people jump to "james somerton was never good anyways" in retaliation for the hbomb expose, but there's a really fine line to tread there before you get into stepping on the toes of the people he stole from, you know?
some of his videos and analysis did seem genuinely intelligent, thoughtful, insightful, and well-written. yeah, it turns out those are the result of him stealing from other people. but that doesnt mean the original writers WEREN'T intelligent, thoughtful, insightful and good writers. he had plenty of garbage opinions interspersed throughout, but the reason many people (myself included) were suckered in by him is that the queer creators he stole from DID have really important and interesting analysis. the parts of his videos that were good were stolen, but by discounting his essays entirely we're throwing the baby out with the bathwater and insisting those he stole from didn't have anything important to say.
the parts he himself supplied were trash, but he stole the work of some genuinely brilliant and insightful writers and passed it off as his own- and that writing still exists and is still brilliant and insightful; we just know now who was actually responsible for it and who to thank for that work
lets just be careful when we smugly proclaim that we always hated everything he had to say- because a lot of the words we're discounting were never his to begin with, and the last thing those authors need is to have their work trash talked because it ended up in the mouth of someone dishonest

ok i just had a humans-are-space-orcs thought
i grew up in bear country. like, the “you can’t leave food in your car because the bears will break your car and eat it” kind of bear country. so up there people make sure to teach their kids how to avoid getting eaten by bears. and you know the number one thing you do to avoid encountering a bear in the first place?
you make sure it hears you coming
if you’re hiking with a friend, you talk loudly the whole time. if you don’t want to do that, or you’re alone, you wear bells or something else that makes noise. because bears aren’t stupid, they know humans are trouble, and they don’t wanna fuck with you any more than you wanna fuck with them
like. think about that. bears are walking tanks. they can cave in the door to a house or move around a 500 pound dumpster like its nothing. you can shoot a bear with a gun and not do much more than piss it off. a bear could absolutely pick off one lone human on a hike for a free meal. but bears never hunt humans, and they rarely attack humans
like imagine an alien visiting earth and their human friend hands them a bell and says “when we go through here we gotta make sure the local apex predators know exactly where we are at all times”
and they’re like “...oh, yes, of course. the other predators on earth must have learned that they can’t kill a human, and it’s better to avoid a fight if you can”
and the human says “no, if a bear attacked us we’d die”
and they’re like, wait, what?? you want to give our exact location to something that could easily kill us? do you have a death wish??? and their friend is like, no, look, bears don’t fuck with humans if they can help it
not because they can’t, but because they know better
