in the back of your girlfriend's car - Part 1/6 Pairing: Steddie (Stranger Things)

The first thing Eddie noticed when he came round were flashing lights. An ambulance. No, street lamps. He was in a car and it was moving. His head was resting on someone's shoulder, a warm arm around him. He concentrated on focusing his eyes. Robin was sitting in the passenger seat in front of him, she turned backwards, noticed him waking up. His eyes refocused on the driver's seat, Nancy, hands at ten and two, eyes on the road and a frown on her face. That meant, yes.

He looked up, shifting out from under the arm around him for a moment, "Steve!" He mumbled, leaning back into Steve's shoulder and pulling his arm closer, "My hero."

"Welcome back to the land of the living," Robin smiled at him, not unkindly, but certainly not all that friendly. Eddie's head was pounding, the streetlights causing a strobing effect that was not helping. He closed his eyes again. "Thanks Rob. Long time, no see, how've you been?," he laughed to himself. Fuck, this was a ridiculous situation. Why was he in Nancy Wheeler’s car? Why was he in Steve Harrington’s arms?

"A lot better than you, apparently," Robin replied, turning back to face the front of the car. "You were out cold."

"Wouldn't be the first time," Eddie replied, mostly to himself, he felt a little woozy, thought he may have a concussion this time. "Nicer to wake up somewhere warm this time though." There was a lengthy silence in the car. He shouldn't have said that. "How many times have you done this?" Nancy's voice was quiet, kind. It tugged on his stomach. He didn't answer, keeping his eyes closed. "Has he fallen asleep again?" He heard Robin hiss, "Steve, pinch him, don't let him sleep, he could die!"

“He’s not asleep," Steve pinched his arm anyway.

“Ow, Harrington."

“Answer the lady,” Eddie could feel Steve’s hand on his arm, a gentle pressure close to his elbow, “How many times have you done this?” Eddie squirmed. It was one thing choosing to self-destruct, it was quite another other people knowing about it.

“It’s fine,” he responded, sharper than he intended, “I can look after myself."

“Sure,” Robin again, “Really looks like it, Eddie. Great job at looking after yourself.”

“Jesus Christ," Eddie muttered to himself mostly, “Gimme a break Robin. I didn’t ask for the cavalry to arrive, did I? Didn’t need King Steve and Queen Nancy swooping in to save the day yet again.”

He bit his tongue as he felt Steve’s body stiffen under him. That wasn’t fair. “That’s not fair,” Nancy this time. Quiet and controlled as always. “No, Nance. None of it is though, is it,” Eddie mumbled as they returned to silence

It wasn’t long before they reached Eddie’s trailer, Steve shifted, propping Eddie up into the seat beside him. “I’m coming in with you,”

“Harrington…”

“Munson," Steve leaned forward, looked him straight in the eyes. They were within kissing distance. What was Steve doing, Nancy was right there. Eddie inhaled sharply, his eyes flicking to Steve's lips briefly before looking back to his eyes. Steve brought his hand up between them, holding a finger out, “Follow my finger with your eyes." Of course, concussion. Eddie complied, struggling to focus, his eyes not quite tracking fast enough. Yeah he may be a little concussed.

“I’m coming in," Steve concluded. He leaned forward between the two front seats, kissing Nancy before drawing back and leaving the car. Eddie’s door was soon thrown open and Steve maneuvered him out of the car and upright, slamming the car door closed with his other hand. God, he was strong . He waggled two fingers at Robin through the window, shifting Eddie’s weight on his thigh and together they entered Eddie’s trailer..

After the Upside Down, Steve chose Nancy, chose normalcy and a return to the easy life. Meanwhile Eddie is trying anything just to feel alive.

The others seem to be faring better, but not everything is as it seems. Trying to cope with the trauma they are all carrying with them from the last three years, the older teens experiment with ways to get by.

Then Steve suggests something that may change everything.

Everyone has trauma, bitch, let's get you some fruits.

Eddie and you have been the closest of friends since you met in middle school after you punched a young Jason Carver square in the jaw for calling Eddie stupid. Ever since then Eddie has followed you around like a puppy, big brown eyes always on you. If you were honest with yourself, at first, Eddie following you day and night was annoying. You liked to be alone. It was calm and quiet, but Eddie, he never shut up. After a few weeks, you came to love his constant chatter. You became fascinated by his fast-paced mind and creative touch to life. Ever since then you never grew tired of him and he never got enough of you, whether you could believe it or not. You two became attached at the hip and you both liked it that way.

“Do you think Chrissy and Jason will have kids one day or just little demons?” Eddie giggles to himself mostly but stares across his room at you.

You turn over onto your stomach from your relaxed position on Eddie's bed. You look over the edge, down to the floor where Eddie is sitting, propped against his wall.

“Hm. Chrissy’s pretty nice. Fifty/Fifty I think.” You hum as Eddie passes the joint to you with a smirk. He puffs smoke in your direction and chuckles.

“Mmm. I don’t know. I think Jason’s evil douchey douchebag genes will take over.”

“It’s a possibility.” You suck in a long drag, holding the smoke in your lungs, soaking up the intoxicating burn.

“Do you think Steve will go bald? I bet Steve has a weird shaped head. Like an almond. Or cashew. Not quite sure which but definitely a nut of some sort. Can you imagine Steve bald?!” Eddie chuckles as you pass the joint over when Eddie does small grabby hands. You laugh letting the smoke escape from your lungs, rushing out into the warm air of Eddie’s room.

“Eddie, please. Steve bald is the most scarring thing I’ve ever had to imagine. You’re killing me.” Eddie giggles to himself and you can’t help but join. Both of you not too sure as to why you are laughing. Your eyes meet his and your stomach tightens like it has for the past two years every time you’ve looked at Eddie. You’ve gotten used to the feeling of pining after Eddie so usually it was easy to ignore but tonight your mind is clouded. “So… how did things go with Jenna?” You poke a bit trying to gauge how his date a few days ago went.

“Don’t get me started, love.” He laughs softly.

“You get laid?” The words topple from your lips before you can think. Instantly as the words hit your ears you mentally scold yourself. God, could you be more obvious?

“Nah.” He shakes his head and pushes his hair from his face. He gestures for you to take the blunt but you shake your head softly. He nods and takes another hit. “My right hand has been my best friend for a while now. I can’t remember the last time I got laid. Probably junior year. After that one gig. But maybe not.” He chuckles casually but your stomach churns. “How bout you darling? Getting any action?” He stares at you intensely. His eyes dark and questioning.

“Eddie. You already know that I haven’t. I’ve never even…” you let your words trail off. Thanking the gods that your brain caught up to your words before they left your tongue.

“Even what?” He smiles softly. Sitting up a bit straighter.

“Don’t act dumb.”

“I am dumb. Just say it.” He tilts his head confused. “We’re best friends, y/n. Just tell me. You know I’m not one to judge. Ya know glass rocks and houses.”

“Glass house and stones.” You laugh.

“Yea yea.” He waves his hand back and forth dismissing your correction.

“I… well. You know I haven’t had sex yet Eddie.” You whisper and he nods slowly.

“Yea. I know. I’m just making sure nothing's changed.” His face twitches a bit like he’s nervous. “Your right hand also been keeping you company?” He smirks playfully as a blush, whether from the high or his brazen confidence, you couldn’t tell, sets in on your cheeks. All you knew is your face was very very hot.

“No!” You giggle pushing yourself up so that your sitting on your knees looking down at Eddie as his face drops.

“Wait! What?! How have we never talked about this?! You’ve never masturbated before?” He springs to his knees and shuffles over to the edge of the bed. He looks up at you and his eyes are filled with amazement.

“What? Of course I have, idiot!” You push Eddie’s forehead and he chuckles bouncing right back.

“Okay… now I’m really confused.”

“Eddie. Can we just drop this?”

“Nooooo tell me!” He whines like a child grabbing your hand in his. He gently kisses your knuckles and smiles. “Please?”

“I- just promise you won’t… like… think I’m weird.” Your words cause his face to drop into a serious face.

“Look at who you’re talking to, babe.”

You nod slowly. “It’s just. I’ve never really… enjoyed? I just never really found pleasure in… touching? I- this is so stupid. I just I’ve never really…” your voice softens as Eddie crawls onto the bed in front of you. He grabs your chin and lifts your gaze to his.

“You’ve never had an orgasm?” He asks soft and sweet.

You nod your head, confirming his question.

“Oh. That’s. Oh.” Eddie releases a breathy chuckle.

“Yea…” you try to look back down at your lap but Eddie holds your chin up. His gaze locked on yours.

“You sure?” He squints down at you. You roll your eyes so hard it’s a wonder they didn’t get stuck in your head.

“Eddie… I think I would know if I’ve-“

“Okay okay yea. You would.” He sighs and his hand falls from your chin into your lap. “That sucks…” he whispers and looks down at his hand in your lap. You nod slowly and silence falls over the two of you. Your high still buzzing through you making you hyperaware of Eddie’s warmth near your body.

“Hey, Eddie?” You whisper softly your voice shaking. God. This is going to be either the best or worse decision you ever make.

“Hm?” He lifts his head and looks into your eyes causing you to second guess what you’re about to say. “Y/n?” He chuckles nervously in your silence.

“You’ve… touched girls before.” You whisper. Your words causing Eddie to tense up. “Can you…”

“Woah Woah. You have no idea what you’re saying right now.” He grabs your knees and looks down at you like he is about to scold you.

"Oh. So you haven't touched girls before then?" You tease him trying to lighten the mood between you two. He smirks down at you gripping your knees tighter.

"Hey now, that's not what I said." He chuckles. "You're too high to be saying all this."

"You're just as high as I am." You poke his chest and he shakes his head lightly.

"No. I am way more tolerant than you, my love. I am nowhere near as high. I mean. I'm pretty gone, but with what you're saying... you're really gone."

"No. No. I'm not. Really!" You giggle and Eddie shakes his head.

"You are! Y/n you're my best friend I know when you're lying. Idiot." He chuckles and kisses your forehead. As he's pulling away you reach up and grab his face and pull it down to yours. You listen as Eddie's breath catches in his throat as his hands slip off your knees and his body sort of slips into yours. “What- what are you-"

"Eddie, help me. Please, I want to. I want you to help me." Your voice is soft as your breath hits his lips. He shivers a bit and grabs your waist. He pushes himself up a bit straight but keeps his head level with yours.

"Please. Please don't do this to me." He sighs softly, closing his eyes. Your heart starts to beat faster in your chest, a part of you thinks it's just an effect of your high but another part knows that it's Eddie.

"Do what?" You ask softly and nudge your nose against his.

"You... you don't understand how often I think about you. I can't do this. I can't. It-"

"I think about you too. Like all the time." You giggle but Eddie shakes his head.

"No. You don't understand I don't about you like I'm supposed to. As my best friend. I think about you-"

"Like this..." You whisper and lean into Eddie. Pressing your lips to his. He groans and leans into you but quickly pulls away.

“No no no. Don’t do that. We can’t.” He shoves your shoulder just a bit but you scooch near him once more.

“Eddie, just this once? Please? As a favor to a friend?” You bat your lashes at him and he groans.

“Friends don’t do this.”

“Then we can reassess afterwards. Right now I just really really want your hands on my body.” You whimper and is eyes widen. You watch as his eyes scan your figure.

“Come here.” He grabs you under your arms and quickly readjusts the two of you on his bed. His back against the wall and your back against his chest. “Reassess after?” He checks with you again and sighs softly into your ear.

“Mhm. I already know what I want though." You smile out into Eddie's room wishing you could see his face.

“I think I do too. But I can’t think about it all right now.” He grunts pulling you closer and lifting your shirt up over your head.

You sigh as his warm fingers contrasting with the cool metal of his rings glides down your chest and your stomach. You shutter and push your head back against his shoulder.

“Eddie…” You whimper in his arms. Falling apart at just the idea of his fingers dancing their way further down your torso.

“I haven’t even done anything yet. Save your breath.” He places a small peck on your neck, testing the waters. When you shiver beneath his lips and move your hands to grip his thighs he smirks. "So, you enjoyed that, yeah?" He slides his hand further down your body causing you to push against his form behind you. He grunts a bit and places a few more kisses on your neck.

His hands roam your hips a bit, his fingers slipping under the waistband of your sweats every once and a while. You inhale a deep breath trying to slow your mind down, but everything is on overdrive and you can still feel the buzz of your high in your chest. Eddie's thumbs dip below the band of your pants on either side and you hear him inhale sharply.

"Can I?" He whispers through his teeth, nervous, maybe as nervous as you are.

"Yes." You whisper and lean your head back onto the front of Eddie's shoulder while he lifts your hips up and helps you to shimmy out of your sweats. He groans as your hips collide with his haphazardly.

"Careful." He chuckles and tries to push your hips a little further from his but you whine.

"I like you be against you. You're so warm and comfy." Your words a mumbled yet floaty which is a show of your high, but still. You are sure that this is something you want and have wanted for years now.

"Warm and comfy?" He chuckles and pulls your hips back into his, the bulge in his pants pressing against your lower back. "You're so beautiful, my love." He hums into your ear and shrugs his shoulder a bit, signaling for you to move your head. You lift your head and as soon as you do his lips are attached to the gentle skin of your neck.

He lets out soft hums, almost like a buzzing near your ear. You almost don't even notice his fingers working the waistband of your underwear. You gasp as his fingers hook around the sides and pull the thin cloth down your legs. Eagerly, you help by maneuvering your legs.

Eddie nibbles at your neck as he flings your underwear somewhere in his room. His nibbles and kisses on your neck get hungrier and sloppier as his hands find your knees. He grips your legs and slowly spreads them apart, hooking them around his extended legs to keep them spread.

The air of Eddie's room hits your sensitive skin and you shiver. Eddie pulls his lips away from your neck and grunts, his hips rutting up into you involuntarily. You feel the slick between your hips intensify at his actions.

Eddie's hands slide down your thighs and find your hips. His thumbs rub small circles into your skin. It's agonizing for him to be so close, yet so far away.

"You sure you want, uh, my help?" He hums.

"Mhm. Yes. For educational purposes." You joke and he can't help but laugh. His chuckles rumbling from behind you, his chest buzzing, sending shivers throughout your body.

"Right." He presses a warm open-mouthed tongue to your neck. Sucking at your skin as he pulls away. You whine, skin tingling from his touch. "Educational. You better pay attention, ya know, so that you'll be able to learn for when I'm not around to help." His voice is deep and you can practically hear the lust in his voice. Dry and sultry as his fingers grip at your waist, painfully tight.

"Eddie..." You beg, pushing your hips back into his on purpose. He whimpers from behind you and his breath catches in his throat. You smirk to yourself until you feel his warm fingers pressing lightly over your mound. You shutter.

"Ready?" He questions genuinely. All you can manage to release is a soft moan and eager nod.

Your hands have been the only explorers of your body and all they did was fumble about. Unsure. Unknowing of what made you feel good, nothing ever felt right when you did it. You felt shame in your own touch. Afraid of how to please yourself, how could you know your own body so little? What was the difference between your touch and Eddie's, besides the obvious?

Maybe it was the approach, the view. Where your fingers felt shame, Eddie's feel beautiful curves and folds. Where your fingers fumbled, his glide eager to please you.

Eddie gently slips a finger into your folds. He hums to himself and slowly pulls his finger from you. You whimper at the loss of his touch. "Woah, you're really wet." He chuckles. A warm blush of embarrassment cloaks your face. "Don't be shy, darling." He nudges his nose against your cheek and sighs lightly as his finger dips back in. You whimper as his finger quickly finds your clit. He hums proudly. "There it is." He rubs slow circles over the sensitive bud with his index finger and grips your waist with his other hand to keep you from bucking your hips. "Pay attention, now." He chuckles. You whine pushing your head back into his shoulder once again.

"Eddie, I- I..."

"Shhhhh. I'm teaching. Don't interrupt." A cocky chuckle slips from his lips as he slides his middle finger between your folds as well. He lays a soft kiss on your neck and your whole body tingles. Buzzing from your high but mainly from the feeling of Eddie's fingers gently rubbing your clit. His cool rings send chills down your skin as they cause contrasting feelings from his fingers. "Right here. This is where you want to spend the most time and attention. Mkay?" He groans halfway through his explanation, his hips rutting against your bare back. You grip at the hair sitting at the nap of his neck that is sweaty from arousal traveling through his body. He moans loudly into your ear as you tug him down into your neck. He huff and starts to lay sloppy kiss all over your skin. Your shoulder and neck are sure to be covered in his marks once you have finished.

His fingers begin to push in and out of you causing jolts of pleasure to rush through your body. His thumb quickly finds your clit again he rubs quick but deliberate circle over it. Your back arches again but this time Eddie does nothing to stop you. He continues to push his finger in and out of you, his rings hitting the rim of your opening every time. Never failing to send that cooling shock through your pleasure.

"Eddie!" You whine loudly as he quickens his pace. Pressing harder onto your clit. Energy buzzing through every blood cell in your body.

"Mmmm. S'was good. But, I forgot my notebook. So I'll need more lessons." His lips pause against your neck and pulls away. His neck straightens out and he tilts your head straight back for you to look up at him. You grin at his surprised face.

"Yeah? You want that?" He questions nervously.

"Yes. And a date would be nice too. Maybe to Starcourt?" You hum happily, hazy and high.

"Yes. That would be nice. Then I can give you lessons after this date." He chuckles and presses a sweet kiss to your lips.

Short-and-sweet impressions after reading Flight of Icarus:

The quality of writing is "competent fanfiction" - it fully reads as a decent Stranger Things fanfic that achieved publication. It serves its function as enjoyable light reading that expands on a character's background, but it's no masterful display of craft. It's written in first-person perspective with present tense narration by Eddie Munson. 90% of the time this works, because Eddie is a decently eloquent (D&D and fantasy literature as hobbies - he references having read Lord of the Rings) and self-aware character. 10% of the time, it's really obvious the author is a woman in the 2020's because certain lines don't scan as things a male teenager in the 80's would say or think. (Spoiler content below)

Al Munson, Eddie's father, is the most well-characterized figure in the book. He's a free-wheeling, mostly absent father who disappears and returns to Hawkins on a seemingly random schedule. He's an unrepentant petty criminal, but he's not malicious or cruel - he's motivated by living a 'free' life without constraints. He cares for Eddie, but not so much that he would put his son's needs above his own. He loved Eddie's mother and shows his devotion by doing things like saving a bottle of wine they purchased on their wedding day to share with Eddie on a celebratory occasion. He might be dogged by a gambling addiction (the novel implies but doesn't lean into discussing it). He genuinely believes in his son's intelligence and it turns out his faith is rightly placed when Eddie successfully plans and then executes the heist with him. He's scummy and self-serving, but there's just enough humanity in him that Eddie's attachment (and deeply conflicted feelings) toward him is understandable and believable.

Paige Warner is the inciting incident and inertia of the plot, but the romance between her and Eddie was unnecessary - the events of the book would have played out exactly the same whether or not they kissed and had lots of (implied) sex, because Eddie's motivation to conduct the heist wasn't to be with her, it was to escape his insanely hostile hometown (seriously, every figure of authority that interacts with him tells him his fate is to be dead or in jail) and pursue his passion for music as a career. Either more time needed to be spent building their chemistry and focusing on the romance (beyond her saying "you're so real" repeatedly and him going "holy shit, a scrap of validation from somebody, I love this woman") or it should've been written out completely.

This is my cat. Her everyday name is Good Girl, but her full name (as written on her pedigree) is Good Girls Go to Heaven.

So you can imagine, based on that, how much Meat Loaf’s music means to me. I’m genuinely upset by this loss. I mean yeah, he had deeply problematic political opinions, but in this case I’m happy to separate art from the artist. Bat Out of Hell is one of my favourite albums of all time, ever since I was a child. It’s one of those cases of “your dad played it a lot and you automatically imprinted on it”. I think we owned it on fucking cassette tape? So yeah, his music is intrinsically tied to my childhood.

Rest in peace, Mr. Loaf.

Fanfic Writer 20 Questions!

1. how many works do you have on ao3? A measly 31. But in my defense, I’m ancient, so I have posted at least twice as many on LiveJournal back in the day.

2. what’s your total ao3 word count? 162,236

3. how many fandoms have you written for and what are they? Six are represented on AO3, including a mix of various RPF fandoms, Hannibal, Law and Order: SVU, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and recently Loki. But back in my teenage years I wrote fic in the Lord of the Rings fandom, Harry Potter, and as I got older even more diverse RPF, mostly centered around US political media and, uh... Top Gear. Look, I have a past, okay, leave me alone.

6. what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I’m really bad at following through on angst, I wrap that shit up with a vaguely happy ending. That said, Control You is pretty bad. It’s also locked, because I lock RPF religiously. kill them; kill them with fire is technically still a WIP, so it doesn’t count, although it’s some of the angstiest fic I’ve written.

8. have you ever received hate on a fic? Oh yes, before the US Pundit fandom hid all the RPF away in secret, thoroughly locked LJ communities, there were some pretty ugly instances of hate going around.

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind? Ahahaha, yes, I do. 23 of those 31 fics are rated E. And it was the same back on LJ.

10. have you ever had a fic stolen? Not as far as I know.

11. have you ever had a fic translated? I’ve received requests for a couple of fics to be translated into Russian. I gave my permission, but I have no idea if they followed through with it.

12. have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes. Way back when I was 18 I had a 42 year old BFF from California who shared my brand of absurd humour and we co-wrote a sprawling 20K+ Pundit RPF comedy zombie AU, where we took turns writing the chapters as we went along, playing off what the other person had written in the previous chapter. I was a great experience, like the fic equivalent of improv comedy groups. An entire story based on ‘yes, and...’ as a concept.

13. what’s your all-time favorite ship? I can’t possibly answer that question, I’m a bit of a whore in this respect. I mix and match. Although judging from my AO3 account it’s Chilly/Willy and Barisi, and it’s true that I love those ships.

14. what’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? kill them; kill them with fire probably. It’s a ASOUE Zombie AU with stand-alone chapters focusing on different characters in different locations, but in a vaguely chronological order. Can you tell that I adore zombie AUs? Anyway, I was very proud of this one, because this particular zombie apocalypse is totally “realistic” in-universe. It takes an existing killer-fungus danger and replaces ‘certain death’ being the result of infection with ‘zombies’ being the result. So yes, it’s The Last of Us-style “zombies”. I actually stole the terminology from there as well, because I couldn’t be bothered with creating too much lore. I never care about the actual zombie horror anyway, I care about the human reaction to a deadly crisis.

15. what are your writing strengths? A writer I admired very much in ye olden days once told me that I was good at blending genres and moods organically, in those day it was combinations of action, humour, and smut. She then asked me, me, for advice on a fic. I still think about that every single time I feel down.

16. what are your writing weaknesses? Definitely a tendency for overly detailed, flowery, self-indulgently elaborate prose. I spent years forcing myself to use a plain ‘said’ more often, because God knows I struggled with the concept from the beginning. And commas. So many commas. I often joke that Ernest Hemingway would fucking deck me if he was alive and reading my stuff. Oscar Wilde would you rather discuss writing with? Case closed.

17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language? I think it’s fine in controlled doses, especially if you consult native speakers to confirm that google translate isn’t about to make you look really silly to native speakers of the language in question.

18. what was the first fandom you ever wrote for? Lord of the Rings, I think? At least in English. I was 14 when the first film came out, so it was around then. It was really bad. English is my second language, and my grammar... left something to be desired. Okay, technically I wrote fic for The Hobbit first, because our teacher was pretty cool when it came to assigning various writing challenges, and in this case he made us all write fanfic that should be a twist on the pretty anticlimactic (according to him) ending of the book. I proceeded to literally kill off half the dwarves in a gruesome Smaug-fight. Very indiscriminately, I might add. Completely random. Just piling up dead, scorched dwarves for shits and giggles.

19. what’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written? Okay, bear with me here, but I’m just really proud of Young Police Cadet Bottoms for Busty Blonde. Probably the smuttiest smut I’ve ever written. I enjoyed every second of the writing process, I had a wonderful time, and it lives up to its title in terms of balls to the wall PWP insanity. A Guide to Recognizing Your Ghosts and Unfortunate Living Arrangements are also up there, because I’m still a Chilton fangirl at heart.

1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?

Lord of the Rings in middle/high school! I was obsessed with it, and it was the first time I had reliable enough internet access to get involved in forums 🥰

2. What is your latest fandom?

Stranger Things!

3. What is the best fandom you've ever been involved in?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. I contributed work of my own for the first time and got a GREAT response. And that was before antis made fandom a warzone 🙄 so I wrote whatever I wanted and never got hate for it.

4. Do you regret getting involved in any fandoms?

😬 I'm not gonna say I regret getting involved in Stranger Things fandom. But it's definitely the most annoying one I've ever been a part of. You can't turn around without bumping into an anti or some kid screaming about p*dophilia. It's so fkn cringe lol

5. Which fandoms have your written fanfiction for?

Not currently, but in the past I've read fic for the original Star Wars trilogy, Star Trek, Phantom of the Opera, The Office, Labyrinth, and probably more I've forgotten.

Bileven is my only otp for the fandom. Still going strong after nearly three years 😌

Bileven for sure. I think I've written over 200-300k about them so far.

I kinda wish I was more into J0pper? I mean, I do like them, but not enough to really feature them in my fic. It would add a lovely dimension to my giant AU though.

Not really? My tastes are very well established by this point 😂

21. What was the first fanfic you ever wrote?

A long, rambling fic for Donkey Kong at like, age 9-10

22. Is there anything you regret writing?

Nope! It was all necessary to my artistic development ☺️

23. Name a fic you've written that you're especially fond of & explain why you like it.

My current Billy Lives AU! It's the first fic that feels truly raw and heartfelt, like it springs straight from the essence of who I am. Working on it has also taught me a lot about the writing process, honed my writing voice, and helped me unlearn limiting beliefs.

24. What fic do you desperately need to rewrite or edit?

My Billy Lives AU. I've written a lot of material that I haven't even published yet. I'm rewriting/editing it as we speak 😆

25. What's your most popular fanfic?

A short A/B/O fic I wrote for Reylo. Over 10k hits, good god. That fandom was so horny lmao

26. How do you come up with your fanfic titles?

Song titles and lyrics, phrases from the text that have thematic significance.

27. What do you hate more: Coming up with titles or writing summaries?

Writing summaries 😖 I've gotten better at it, but it's still annoying trying to condense a big ol' story into a paragraph lol

28. If someone were to draw a piece of fanart for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of?

I would like it to be from my Billy Lives AU, which I think has lots of illustration-worthy moments. Hell, I've got a list of illustrations I'd make myself, if I could just recover from my art burnout...

29. Do you have a beta reader? Why/Why not?

Not really. If I genuinely need help with something, I have a couple friends I can ask, but usually I just wing it on my own. I'm too impatient to wait on someone 😂

30. What inspires you to write?

Powerful emotions, resonant themes and symbols, yin/yang and Hades/Persephone pairings, sad grumpy men who are practically begging for redemption arcs, music

31. What's the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?

I've gotten several lovely comments that I hoard like a mound of crack. My favorite ones lately say things like "your writing is poetry," "it's so visceral," "cuts you right to the bone." But my top favorite has to be this one:

"I love how you write Billy, because it's so LEGIT. Everything you have him do or say just feels so accurate and true to his character. Like, I can imagine it all happening and playing out in front of me."

I work hard on his characterization, so hearing that had me buzzingggg!

32. Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you?

Oh hell yeah. I draw from a variety of genres depending on the scene I'm writing. For my Billy Lives AU, I've used ambient, heavy metal, all flavors of rock, TV/movie soundtracks, '80s pop, and more.

33. Do you write oneshots, multi-chapter fics or huuuuuge epics?

All three! I've written a lot of oneshots lately to explore ideas outside of my giant AU, which def counts as a huge epic (rip me 💀). I also have a multi-chap in progress.

34. What's the word count on your longest fic?

Over 100k. Only half of it is published right now.

35. Do you write drabbles? If so, what do you normally write them about?

I used to, but I don't anymore.

36. What's your favourite genre to write?

Sci-fi horror, romance, drama

37. First person or third person - what do you write in and why?

Both depending on my mood. My default is third person, but sometimes I switch to first to shake things up and/or internalize the characters' voices.

38. Do you use established canon characters or do you create OCs?

I usually go for canon characters, but when I sense a gap in the story I'm not above creating an OC to fill it. I'm never gonna stop bragging about how one of my OCs seemed to anticipate Eddie Munson 😆 (mostly in style and backstory, less in personality).

39. What is your greatest strength as a writer?

I make my readers feel a lot of things. Also I've been told multiple times, "I can see it happening so clearly! 😭" So... good descriptions??

40. What do you struggle the most with in your writing?

Perseverance. I tend to come up with complicated epics that would take years to write. To this day, I've yet to finish a single one. Goddammit though, I'm gonna do it someday 😠

Everyone who's left a kind comment on my work, and fellow Billy fans who can tolerate differences in opinion (a VERY small number 🥲).

45. What is your all time favourite fanfic?

To this day I still remember some creepy Phantom of the Opera fic I read years ago...

46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?

Worship The Flame, which has the most material to read (50k published so far) and really demonstrates my skills imo.

47. Archive Of Our Own, Fanfiction.net or Tumblr - where do you prefer to post and why?

AO3 by far. It's clean and organized, I get more interaction there, and hate comments have been easy to deal with. Ff.net is just useless now. Tumblr is okay, but it's extremely hard to get views, and hate comments are more common.

48. Do you leave reviews when you read fanfiction? Why/Why not?

Sometimes! Depends on how strong my reaction was to the work and how much energy I have that day. I haven't read any fic lately though.

49. Do you care if people comment/reblog your writing? Why/why not?

Oh, yeah. I care a lot. A single good comment can lift me out of a writing funk and give me the motivation to keep going. It literally just happened last week 💕 (Thank you kind commenter 💕💕)

Also, reblogs are the only way to get views here. The fics I'm most passionate about tend not to get reblogged (1. they involve a rarepair, so they're niche to begin with; 2. people are too scared to reblog Bileven content). So I cherish every one I get.

50. How did you get into reading and/or writing fanfiction?

Idk, I just fell into it in elementary school. It felt natural. Still does!

51. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!

Gush: I love the incredible creativity of fandom! Also, I LIVE for taking back stories from white male creators who have no idea what they're doing. And from corporations who shoot for the lowest common denominator. (Capitalism kills art, tell your friends)

Rant: STOP HARASSING FAN CREATORS FOR MAKING STUFF YOU DON'T LIKE. Oh and let's NOT do the whole censorship thing. We tried it and it was awful. Thank you.
