Hiiiiiii @sketchingstars03 sorry to tag u but since I'm kind of responding to ur note I thought I should

ur message got my brainjuice flowing and I wrote so much that it needed it's own post lolz

The thing about his morality being separate from his emotions is so true (he's literally 'bottles up' in emotions lol)

I imagine ink has a TON of friends or at least a lot of acquaintances. and I just can't imagine how many people he had to watch die or suffer or worse knowing that he couldn't do anything to stop it

But I don't think ink as a person, in regards to the script thing, can be just described as selfish or selfless just by how he reacts to fate

To me, it's just some good ol' hopelessness™

idk but describing him as 'selfish' because of how he reacts (or mostly doesn't react) to impending doom that he never had any control in feels like missing the point a little, and it's goes the same way as calling him 'selfless'

to the characters that he 'betrays', the characters that he's no different from (he's a character too), the characters of the reality he lives in, *his reality*, him choosing to just let things happen has nothing selfless or acceptant or whatever he calls it, it's just cowardice.

And about respecting our wishes, we're not affected! we're not the creation being faced with terrifying fates, it's not real to us, but to the characters, and to *ink*, it is real.

There's nothing selfless about respecting our wishes because *we* are in control, *we* create, *we* write. ink has no power in what actually happens, and these are details u have to account for when writing meta elements, like who is the one actually in control of everything.

Ink has no control, and he probably gave himself this job of 'keeping things on track' as a way to feel like he's in control, when in reality nothing he'll ever do, in service of the creators or not, will ever truly matter.

What's selfish is thinking of himself as 'above' other characters like he isn't himself one. What's selfish is him giving himself this job of messagers to gods like he matters unlike everyone else. what's selfish is refusing to cause change because he lives comfortably in the status quo that he built

a status quo built on hopelessness and apathy that he forces everyone to be apart of

What's selfish is him just choosing to not do the wrong thing instead of going all the way and doing the right thing

And what's selfless is him basing his entire life on helping others
