#it's true that the 80s version had like one body type each that they used for pretty much all the characters
Text
so… i just watched the first episode of the ACTUAL she-ra, the 80s version. i have a lot of things to say, but first and foremost.
i love how spop fans were attacking it for being misogynistic when the male characters were equally, if not more “sexualized” than the female characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like LOOK at this. he-man is arguably showing more skin than she-ra. it's not just “oh women are objectified while men are allowed to be normal human beings”, they're both wearing revealing clothes because they're adults who can do what they want.
of course, i do think that they look like your stereotypical man and woman (with the men being more muscular and the women being more petite) but i think that's to be expected from such an old show.
anyway, i'll move on to the rest of the episode. it was pretty good. i have to admit the humor was a bit stale, i wasn't the biggest fan of cringer. his name is very fitting. however, there was a lot of visual comedy that made me laugh, like glimmer teleporting right when catra pounced at her.
also love how one of the horde members is like “catra's in trouble!” and adora coolly responds with “forget her”. reboot adora could have used more of that attitude with catra.
speaking of catra, her voice is HILARIOUS. i think i would have liked the reboot catra a lot more if they kept that voice.
i have nothing much to say about the rest of the characters but i do like glimmer already. it's clear that the show was made for children, judging by the comedy and the storytelling so far, but i have a feeling the show might get a little more serious as it progresses further.

Well, I guess I'm transcribing news segments now.
Filmation She-Ra: The day I held aloft my sword and said, "for the honor of Grayskull!"
[Filmation She-Ra's transformation sequence segues into Dreamworks She-Ra's]
Beth Canon, VP of Development, Dreamworks Animation Television: I was a child of the 80s, and I grew up watching She-Ra. I was just a huge fan of the property, because honestly there wasn't that much for girls at the time. Because I had that--that personal connection to the show, it was so important to really do it right, if we were gonna reboot it. A lot of my friends and I were having conversations about female empowerment. I think we just started to feel like it was the right time, like there was something happening, we felt like young girls really needed a new sort of… superhero to look up to.
ND Stevenson, Executive Producer: Beth was awesome to work with. She was interested in uh, especially my take on female characters. She wanted to go a little bit deeper than the typical 'girl power' show would go, which was really exciting to me, that was exactly what I wanted to do. I didn't quite find myself relating to princesses when I was a kid. They were always very pretty, they were always very dainty, they were too perfect. And that wasn't my experience. As a girl. And so I really wanted to see a version of that that rang true to me.
Filmation She-Ra: [kicks in a wall] Now to take care of a few things.
?Elizabeth Kresin?: Welcome to the rough pitch of episode 114, we have boards from uh, Mickey, Angela, Jasmine, and Kiki
Josie Campbell, Story Editor: We have a lot of women, we have a lot of people from different backgrounds. The fact that we wanted to make a show that reflected what we wanted to see, and who we were as people, I think really spoke to everybody. It was like another reason we all really care about She-Ra.
ND Stevenson: We have a first time art director, first time directors, first time story editor, so we really relied on each other, and we really relied on the support from each other in order for this show to be possible at all. So much of that ended up going into the show, even just the story about all these characters working together to like, solve this problem, to save the day. It felt like a lot of what was going on with us, as well.
Josie Campbell: I think the biggest message of She-Ra is sort of a combination of, "No one can do this alone"--She-Ra is a strong hero, she's got the sword, she's got the mystical background, but she still needs her friends to come and help her.
[recording booth]
Aimee Carrero: From 129?
Unseen crew member: Yeah, we'll pick it up from 129.
Aimee Carrero, voice of Adora/She-Ra: [as Adora] For the honor of grayskull! [as herself] Girl power isn't like explicitly stated in our show, but it's implied and I think it's because Noelle has created a post-misogynist world, which is like very refreshing to live in because obviously as soon as we walk out of this room we're faced with things on a daily basis. But in this world, a woman in power is not something that's commented on. A woman's shape is not commented on.
Karen Fukuhara: [as Glimmer] Why isn't it attacking the woods?
Aimee Carrero: [as Adora] It's still just a Horde bot. We know how to handle these--[screams]
ND Stevenson: It was very important to me from the start that our characters represented a diversity of body shape, diversity of ethnicity, and a diversity of, I guess… romantic and gender expression. We wanted our characters to fall along these spectrums in so many different ways.
Karen Fukuhara, voice of Glimmer: The reaction on this show has been absolutely nuts, it's amazing. I--I've gotten phone calls from friends that have said, "Thank you for being part of a show that--that I see myself on."
Glimmer: Iiiiiiit's makeover time!
ND Stevenson: To see yourself reflected in that way, it's hugely important, because if you only see one type of body type in that role you start to think, "Maybe that's just what a protagonist looks like."
[at a table read]
ND Stevenson: And Marcus, on 128 could I get a--a scream and a--and a voice crack there? 'Cause Bow's just really freaked out.
[back in the recording booth]
Marcus Scribner: [as Bow] Did you learn anything new from Light Hope?
Aimee Carrero: [deflective chuckling] Getting way better at transforming my sword! Look! [holds up a pretend pitcher] Hyeaah….
Bow: [huge gasp] Wow… a pitcher… that's so useful!
Marcus Scribner, Voice of Bow: Bow back in the old days of She-Ra was like this middle-aged white man who was like, "Hah, She-Ra, let's save the day!"
Filmation Bow: She-Ra! Thank goodness you're here.
Marcus Scribner: I feel like new Bow is obviously different, in that he's an African American character, and I think he's a really cool male character in an animation we haven't seen too often.
Bow: Do we have a new addition to the Best Friend Squad?
Glimmer: Shut up.
Marcus Scribner: He's there to support his female leads, and I think a lot of young boys can learn a lot from watching Bow does and how he treats the women around him.
Sea Hawk: Can I be this miniature painted model of Bow?
Adora: No! Those represent Bow and Glimmer. And this one's mine. [fields incredulous stares] … Bow made them for us. Okay, just--! Everyone focus!
Marcus Scribner: My little cousin Jackson and my little cousin Timothy both watch the show. They watched all thirteen episodes super quick, I was getting really excited 'cause I was like, "Oh, we're gonna get you guys Bow action figures and Bow pins and all this stuff--" and they were like, "Nah, we want She-Ra figures!" which I think is super dope. And kind of like the motive of the show is really opening people's eyes and--and getting people to see a strong female lead in an animation, which I don't think is done too often.
ND Stevenson: I think we were all sort of making the show for ourselves, in the past. So, when I look back and I see myself as this kid, and I think, "What does she need to see right now?" and, "How can I be the person that I needed when I was that age?" and hopefully that rings true to the kids who are watching it now.

The Insect is Awake- Chapter 1
An Original Fic Idea I had for an oc I made recently named Monty, inspired by The Fly (both movie versions excluding the 80's ones sequel xp)
Monty could feel the resonating sound of his tapping on the coffee table, his usual bagel and Black coffee with only a mere scoop of sugar and a dollop of whipped cream. He had been waiting for ages, since he was born to show what he could to the world. He was closer than ever now, his own invention so high above the heavens, something he wished to obtain since he was a mere worm in the ground. A cough knocked him out of his trance, and he quickly finished up what he had left, a morsel of bagel sticking out of his mouth as he rushed out to his dreams to be come true.
He lived in a nice Home, sure, but the Warehouse he had been using for his experiments in the old abandoned Junkyard his mailman consistintly thought was a sighting ground for some kind of "Mothman". He always scoffed at the idea of a half-man half-bug creature, and much rather liked thinking about his very own invention; A teleportation device, two of them damn smack inside of his own workplace.
On his way in, he made sure to give attention to his pet Cockroach, Honda. Yes he was named after a car, Monty didn't mind that. He remembers his pet cat from when he was 2, the one named Truck that (unfortunately enough) got ran over by a truck. He thought to the two Betta fish his parents got him not knowing they'd tear each other apart in the same tank, the one's he had named Honk and Jeep. Poor things, he was sure they'd love having the sewers beyond the bathroom toilet as a Hearse more than their own fish bowl.
Thinking back to Honda, he gave a little pat on the head to his roach friend, patting hand sanitizer on not even a moment afterward, and stuck the half eaten piece of bagel still somehow in his mouth into the enclosure of his pet. Honda was not a picky cockroach when it came to his feasts of breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts or snacks, although Cockroaches never pass up a meal regardless of it's rot or stench. Of all the things Monty was proud of regarding his little friend though, he made sure of another thing: He was successful in his experiment to teach Honda how to use the type writer. The little bugger would hop into one letter, and Monty would write it down, and the best sentence Honda had managed was a "SnacksPleez". How touching of the little roach.
Just as Monty cooed about his best friend, he heard a knocking on the Warehouse door. Opening his heart fluttered at the possibility, the knowledge that if all went right, he would be on the cover of a brilliant magazine for his brilliant creation and evolution in science.
It was Carter Drew, a journalist that had contacted him to see how exactly the Teleportation Device he made worked and wanting to document it to the whole world, Monty's beloved audience. Goodness, he remembers the days when he was but a teen when he attempted so many things, and had (while not many views to say the least) a plethora of interested followers who wished to see his works. Now, NOW was his chance he had to take it.
"Why Mr. Drew! I do believe this is the man I talked to on the phone but a day or two ago." He said flamboyantly, making the journalist blush a slight bit.
"Why, of course I am. Do you reckon your Teleporter is in order for my visit?" "Why Mr. Drew, you say that like I intend for you to be the one in it!"
"Was...that not the plan?" Carter asked curiously, having worked himself up for the idea of his body being torn apart by the atoms and reattached at the seams in an entirely different location. He heard a chuckle from Monty as the man of the hour streaked a gloved hand through his naturally slick, greased up hair and led Mr. Drew right in.
Monty gestured a finger towards his dear buddy and companion Honda, the roach hopping onto his owner's finger as Monty gave a slightly crazed smile, that of a mad scientist mixed with a toddler's excitement to show a interesting bug or plant of object in the woods they found. Carter's head tilted with confusion, as this cockroach was obviously not the Teleporter.
"Instrad of you my friend who's eagerness is welcome but potential for an accident and/or Lawsuit on my behalf, me and dear Honda here will be the subject of the day. I've given the Teleporter's code enough lessons in "The Flesh" that no longer does it tear an living organism apart or from the inside out in the confusion of living cells and not inanimate ones like a pencil or a block, and I shall finally test run it with my dear companion to see if it is successful." Monty spoke. He could see the gears churning and turning in Carter's head about why he would name a roach of all things Honda, but the journalist had no time for that, only excitement for this fancy new breakthrough to the future.
Monty put in the password to initiate the countdown, giddily bouncing to the first Teleporter with Honda on his finger, the mad but well meaning scientist looking in admiration at his one true companion. How he would miss it when an other one of his pets, sadly but realistically, would not live as long as he, a mere human would. If only he could have these savory, sweet moments with his Cockroach friend more, how he wished he had those chances with his cat or his betta fish, or the horse or the cow or any other animal he enjoyed the company of. It must have seen insane from Carter's view as the doors closed, and a spark of light, like a fire, enflamed Monty and Honda and the unlikely duo were gone without a trace. Smoke filed from the second Teleporter, and lo and behold, The eccentric man himself was right there, particles torn apart and put together yet again.
While Carter clapped and wahoo'd in excitement, Monty was devestated that the lack of Honda's weight on his finger disturbed him that much. Surely, surely his dear companion hadn't been disintegrated by his own machine? He had thought so himself, as he looked desperately inside the second Teleporter. Trying not to shed tears, he sucked it up, buttercup, and walked over to Carter without trying to break his dam of tears.
"I..I hope it was as exciting as you wanted it to be." He muttered, as Carter yabbered and jabbered about things he droned onto, wanting some form of companionship now that he was sure he had lost his former one. If he had the chance, he would make a little grave and memorial for his friend, maybe make sure Honda was remembered if he made it to the big screen or had some wild new interview on the horizon. He hadn't paid to mine that something on the first teleporter read "Err", or the odd buzzing he could barely feel in the back of his grey matter, and continued to listen in dread to Carter's ramblings.
By the end, the two were just about ready to go their seperate ways, although Carter had seemed to stop in his tracks, contemplating something.
"Would you, erm.. l-like to go out for some coffee and a lunch tommorow?" Carter asked a little hopelessly, as most crushes he had rejected him, and dare he think of how Justin Timberlake reacted the one time.
Monty furrowed his brow, and in a feat of depressed yet understanding defeat, he gave a "Right as Rain, Darling", and waved ahoy to his new friend, trying to not to let the taste of sour in his mouth and the silent droning in the back of his grey matter drive him mad.

‘One Tree Hill’ Stars Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton Morgan and Bethany Joy Lenz Welcome ‘Drama Queens’ Podcast’s First Guest (EXCLUSIVE)
“One Tree Hill” stars Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton Morgan and Bethany Joy Lenz are taking fans down memory lane with their new iHeartRadio podcast “Drama Queens,” which recaps all of the onscreen drama from the show’s 187 episodes and provides behind-the-scenes insight from the women behind the characters of Brooke Davis, Peyton Sawyer and Haley James Scott.
But for the “Drama Queens'” next episode, the trio will add one of Tree Hill’s finest to the conversation.
“Lee Norris joins us first to talk about what it was like to literally be the tentpole of basketball on our show, Marvin McFadden,” Bush tells Varietyexclusively.
“We truly couldn’t have imagined having anyone else come on first,” she explains. “He was like the second person we called after speaking to each other. So, we’re so, so excited. It’s so fun to reminisce with him and to kind of get the gang back together; it feels really good.”
Norris appeared as Marvin ‘Mouth’ McFadden in 171 episodes of the teen drama’s nine-season run, and joins the podcast as the stars unpack “One Tree Hill’s” third episode, titled “Are You True?” which originally aired in Oct. 2003.
Burton Morgan agrees that having Norris as their first guest was a “no brainer.”
“Lee has been a true blue friend to virtually everyone in our cast, and has been there since day one of the pilot,” Burton Morgan says. “On top of that, he has worked with so many of us on other projects, so he is literally the tie that binds all of us. As a real North Carolina boy, Lee probably best embodied what the Tree Hill kids were representing. And he’s dangerously fun. Like… pee your pants laughing on a hotel floor at 2 a.m. kinda fun.”
Plus, Lenz notes that having one of their male cast mates on the podcast presented an important view of the filming experience.
“It was valuable for us to get a perspective from someone who also was a part of ‘One Tree Hill’ from day one, had been in Hollywood from childhood and knew the traps and cliches we might all fall into, and also, as a young male, would have experienced his time on the show differently,” Lenz says.
In an exclusive clip from the episode — which debuts on Monday at midnight — Norris, Bush, Burton Morgan and Lenz reminisce about their favorite memories from filming the series in Wilmington, N.C. Burton Morgan explains that Mouth represented a very important part of the audience watching the show — those viewers who weren’t the captain of the basketball team or cheerleading squad. But, it’s important to note that the character had game when it came to the ladies.
While recounting Mouth’s romantic experiences on the show, the trio discuss the revelation that Mouth was also a really good dancer — which came from the fact that Norris was known for showing off his moves on nights out.
“I’ve heard you talk about this on the earlier episodes, we saw pieces of ourselves start to be worked into the characters,” Norris explains.
The trio then reminisce about nights out at the clubs in Wilmington and how Norris and Bush bonded over their love for “Get Low,” from Lil Jon and the East Side Boys (feat. Ying Yang Twins).
“We’d be like across the like bar or whatever, and if this song would come on,” Norris begins, as Bush cuts in. “It was like the Red Sea would part, because Lee and I would be screaming, running toward each other, like some weird drunken version of a slow-mo love moment in an 80s movie. And we just hit the middle of the floor and like we’d get the whole bar dancing.”
The story is exactly the type of cute anecdote “One Tree Hill” fans have come to expect from “Drama Queens,” where Bush, Burton Morgan and Lenz dish on what was actually happening behind the scenes of the show. The trio launched the podcast on June 21 and it has been an instant hit, with more than 2.5 million downloads of its first three episodes.
“I’m deeply grateful that all our fans have turned up the way they have,” Lenz says. “I thought we’d do well within our fan base, but I never dreamed we’d be at No. 1 all over the world for weeks on end. It’s a dream come true again. And we don’t take a second of it for granted.”
But the podcast isn’t only for die-hard Ravens fans, with a format designed to include the new audiences who are discovering the show for the first time on streaming platforms like Hulu.
“We’re working hard to keep the love and respect of our fans and to earn it from a new audience as well,” Lenz adds. “We all know how rare this is.”
In fact, the podcast has also afforded its hosts — who admit they haven’t watched the show in years — an opportunity to view their experience in a new light.
“I expected to have fun but mostly I thought I’d be cringing the whole time,” Lenz explains. “The experience memory in my body from filming that show was based on so many insecurities and personal trauma and immaturity. So, I thought I’d be fighting a lot of shame while rewatching.”
“To my great delight, however, it’s quite the opposite,” she continues. “Now that I’m a mother and older and wiser, I just love my young self and I forgive her for all her flaws and I just see a young girl trying her best. I’m proud of myself and that has been incredibly healing. That dynamic is at play in our trio’s friendship as well, and it’s just such a gift.

Ultima Weapon
Tumblr media
Image © Square Enix, accessed at the Final Fantasy Wiki here
[Commissioned by @warfares-bridge. Ultima Weapon first appeared in Final Fantasy VI (although the FF3 import I grew up with referred to it as “Atma Weapon”). It has had multiple recurring appearances in the series since then, with different appearances and abilities. This version builds most heavily on the Final Fantasy XIV version, where it is the final boss of the main campaign. That battle has a timer on it--if Ultima Weapon isn’t killed within a certain time limit, it casts Ultima, which in that game is an auto-TPK. I wanted to capture that flavor, but instant death is frowned upon in Pathfinder, and I had to come up with a rationale as to why it wouldn’t just use that ability Round 1 and save itself a lot of trouble.]
Ultima Weapon CR 24 LE Outsider This colossus appears something like a mechanical reptilian centaur, but its body appears to be grown from metal rather than forged. Blade-like wings and a lashing tail grow from it, and all six of its limbs bear deadly claws. Its head is proportionately small, and vaguely like that of an insect.
Ultima Weapon is a relic of the early days of the multiverse. During the Titanomachy, when the thanatoic titans rebelled against the gods, the inevitables donated their services to create potent weapons to strike against the titans and their elemental allies. Multiple Weapons were forged, Ultima being the most infamous. Ultima Weapon was corrupted by the temptation of power and struck out against inevitables and titans alike. Ultima Weapon maintains a low profile for millennia at a time, and its appearance is a sure sign of cosmic calamity.
Ultima Weapon was designed to be a mobile prison, capable of binding titans to itself and delivering them for judgment. It still has the ability to bind powerful creatures, and hunts down exemplary outsiders such as balors, solars and pit fiends in order to enslave them. Any creature it has bound to itself it can call upon to assist in combat, and Ultima Weapon has rotated its cast of servants over the course of the ages to suit its needs. Even if its servants are defeated or dismissed, Ultima Weapon lives up to its name as a mobile artillery platform. It can fire beams of divine lightning from its hands and chest, direct powerful magic missile-like effects in an instant, and crush opposition with its claws and tail. Most feared is its namesake ability, which has only been activated three times in known history, each time when the Weapon was on the brink of death. The Ultima energy mimics an implosion spell but can affect dozens of targets at a time.

Regardless of whether it passes or fails the save, it cannot be affected by Ultima Weapon’s aura of awe for the next 24 hours. This is a mind-influencing effect and the save DC is Charisma based. Binding Shackles (Su) Ultima Weapon can use its own body as a spell component for the binding spell-like ability. When it uses binding, it can make its own body the focus of the minimus containment version of the spell. Ultima Weapon can shackle a number of creatures to itself equal to its Intelligence modifier. Ultima Weapon can only use this ability on creatures with Hit Dice equal to or less than its own. Ultima Weapon can summon a creature contained inside itself as a standard action. The creature appears within 60 feet of Ultima Weapon, obeys Ultima Weapon without question, and counts as a summoned creature for the purposes of spells and effects. The creature remains for one minute or until slain, whereupon it returns to within Ultima Weapon without harm. Ultima Weapon cannot summon more than one creature this way at a time, and may summon each bound creature once per day. When Ultima Weapon is slain, the creatures remain bound inside its corpse. If freed, they behave as normal for their attitude and alignment, although they will likely be at least indifferent to any rescuer, if not more favorably disposed. Constructed (Ex) Although Ultima Weapon is a living outsider, their body is constructed of physical components, and in many ways they function as constructs. For the purposes of effects targeting creatures by type (such as a ranger's favored enemy and bane weapons), Ultima Weapon counts as both an outsider and construct. They are immune to death effects, disease, mind-affecting effects, necromancy effects, paralysis, poison, sleep, stun, and any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects, or is harmless). Ultima Weapon is not subject to nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, or energy drain. They are not at risk of death from massive damage. They have bonus hit points as constructs of their size. Force Missiles (Su) As a swift action every 1d4 rounds, Ultima Weapon can fire 10 missiles of force. It may fire these all at a single target within 240 feet, or split fire between enemies, but multiple enemies must be within 30 feet of each other. Each missile strikes automatically, ignoring cover and concealment, and deals 2d4+2 force damage. Magitek Beams (Su) As a standard action every 1d4 rounds, Ultima Weapon may fire three beams of energy as 120 foot lines. A creature caught in each beam takes 25d6 damage, half of which is electricity and half of which is typeless (Reflex DC 33 half). A creature caught in multiple beams does not take additional damage, but suffers a -2 penalty to its save. These beams may be in fired in any direction from Ultima Weapon’s square. The save DC is Constitution based. Planar Acclimation (Ex) Ultima Weapon is always considered to be on its home plane, no matter what plane it is on. It never gains the extraplanar subtype, and the planar acclimation spell protects it from the hazards of any plane except the Material Plane. Superior Ferocity (Ex) Ulitma Weapon does not die until its negative hit points reach twice its Constitution score, or -66 hp. Ultima Weapon is not staggered when using ferocity, but does suffer a -2 penalty to attack rolls and to the saving throws of its special abilities. Ultima (Su) As a standard action once per day, Ultima Weapon can set up a destructive resonance in the bodies of all corporeal creatures within 60 feet. A creature affected takes 250 points of damage (Fortitude DC 30 half). A creature reduced to 0 hit points by this damage is destroyed and can only be returned to life by a miracle, true resurrection or wish spell. This can affect undead and constructs as long as they have a physical body—creatures in gaseous form and incorporeal creatures are unaffected. Ultima Weapon can only use this ability when it is below 0 hit points, with its superior ferocity ability. The save DC is Charisma based and has a -2 penalty from superior ferocity.

Watching Star Trek TOS For the First Time! Season 1 Reaction
I’ve been a TNG, DS9 and Voyager fan for maybe 10 years but had never watched TOS until I decided that I would. And then I realised I couldn’t live with the possibility of the internet not being able to know my incoherent rambling reactions if it so desired. Most of these were written the day after I saw them but with the early ones it was later so sorry if I don’t remember your favourite.
Season 1:
The Cage: Be still my beating heart why must number 1 leave the show? Why?! Imagine a world in which Majel Barrett got to continue to be her in the Star Trek universe instead of Lwuxana (sorry I don’t love her) and Nurse Chapel. She’s so beautiful I love her. And she gets to where pants and be the second in command. While the episode for sure has sexist moments it does seem like there was more of an actual effort to present to future as having gender equality. When you compare this to the ultra mini skirted version of the actual show, it does feel like executives went through it to make it more marketable. It’s been noted by others that she is quite similar to what Spock’s character became: the cold, logical one, while Spock smiles in this episode. While I ended up loving Spock I still would’ve loved to see a woman in that kind of role, especially in the 60s. Although I’m not sure she would’ve been treated that well.
So Vina can’t like, get medical treatment from Starfleet doctors who know how to put a human body together? No? We’re just gonna leave her there? She’s too ugly? She’s better off living in a fantasy world where she’s pretty? Ok then…
The Man Trap: I don’t even really remember this one so I’d have to rewatch it.
Charlie X: Charlie sees women and becomes an incel, Kirk has to try and teach him not to be. This is a decent goal that somehow culminates in a space boxing match. Kirk loses his shirt. Sexual tension is presumably resolved. Uhura sings.
Where No Man Has Gone Before: The pants are back. Man becomes some kind of god and Kirk beats him up if I remember correctly.
The Naked Time: This is where The Naked Now comes from. This one was less sexual, which is probably a good thing, and less drunk, which is too bad cause I love drunk Crusher and Picard trying to focus on work while their brains won’t brain. Highly relatable mood. This one is where the immortal line “sorry, neither” comes from, spoken by Uhura in response to Sulu calling her a “fair maiden.” According to the internet that was an ad lib and I so hope that’s true cause it’s amazing. Also according to Spock Sulu is a “swashbuckler at heart” which is cool and all but I wish we got to find that out by him actually being a character that we know the personality of rather than a background diversity guy who gets to say a couple of lines sometimes. Also each to their own but shirtless Sulu is infinitely more attractive than shirtless Kirk.
The Enemy Within: Bad. Women at Warp podcast said it best, it’s bad because they say the evil Kirk is still Kirk and is needed for him to be a good captain/person. This could’ve been ok if he didn’t do something so irredeemable, or they could’ve not had him be defined as a true and necessary part of Kirk, but you can’t have both and sell it as an ok message. Rand not being able to look at ‘good’ Kirk after really makes it feel real, her acting in general makes it feel too real.
Mudd’s Women: Women take beauty pills that make them have makeup on and men find them too ugly to marry without them even though they are still beautiful. Also said women were kinda slaves but don’t worry about it! *hand waves*
What Are Little Girls Made Off: I don’t know what the title has to do with the episode. This is the episode where Nurse Chapel is introduced even though she was in a previous episode. And she’s taken more seriously than I thought she would be. Kirk gets an android version of himself made by a guy who he already doesn’t trust and doesn’t predict that maybe that’s not a good idea. Apparently to make an android all you need to do is put one person and one dummy on a giant plate and spin them around real fast. If only the guy who wanted to take apart Data in Measure of a Man knew.
Miri: Problematic. I think the crush angle could’ve worked if it was one sided, but Kirk played into it and it was creepy, and you know, also manipulative, assuming Kirk doesn’t actually feel the same way and is using it to get her to help them. That’s my more charitable interpretation anyway. Also McCoy doesn’t know how vaccines work. Also this episode doesn’t know what puberty is, or rather when it starts. If the virus is supposed to get to you then, that starts round the preteen age. Miri is older than that even though she’s not an adult.
Dagger of the Mind: This was the first one where I was starting to quite like it and it was feeling a little more like Star Trek to me (I know this is the first Star Trek but there’s a certain way 80s/90s era Star Trek feels to me). I really liked the beginning where it was setting up this whole maybe prisoners become violent because of how the prison treats them thing and that it was challenging the viewpoints of some of the main characters, although McCoy was already team prisons are bad and I love him for that. It then went more into the lobotomising asylum type story which was still ok. The guy turned out to be a doctor rather than a prisoner which I didn’t like cause I wanted the prisoners to be humanised. Although you could’ve done a “see anyone, even ‘innocent’ non criminals can be turned violent with this treatment” but they didn’t really emphasise that.
The Corbomite Maneuver: I don’t remember this. Kirk playing poker with some alien I think. Edit: I’m been informed this is the one where the alien turns out to be a lollypop guild kid lip-syncing to an adult’s voice, which I do remember, and probably thought it was some kind of sleep-deprived fever dream.
The Menagerie Part 1 & 2:  I laughed so much when they wheeled Pike out and I finally got the Futurama reference in Where No Fan Has Gone Before. I mean I obviously knew the whole thing was a Star Trek Reference, but I had never seen that specific imagery before and now the joke makes sense! Also Pike wanting to go back there seems kinda wrong. I mean they say he’s a vegetable mentally I think but he doesn’t seem to be? I can kinda get that he’s got more incentive to be there than Vina who could probably be helped by Federation doctors but also, he hated that place and spent the whole episode trying to get out of it and it doesn’t feel like a fitting ending for him.
The Conscious of the King: And here begins Star Trek’s love affair with Shakespeare. The only thing I have to say really is, if I didn’t mishear something… a father and daughter played Macbeth and Lady Macbeth? A married couple. And no-one thought that was weird? She was the daughter of a dictator though so there was an Ivanka Trump vibe.
Balance of Terror: Romulans. Spock wasn’t sure that they were related to Vulcans till this ep, though he suspected it. How far back did they split for it to be unknown? I like that the Romulans were sympathetic and we had scenes with them just in their ship from their perspective, and they had some conflicting views with each other. And I really like how Spock was suspected as a spy cause racism and of course he wasn’t and saved that guy cause he’s the better person. That said I found this episode pretty boring and I don’t know why. I kinda wish it turned into a witchhunt situation and was more about the racism on the Enterprise, kinda like The Drumhead from TNG.
Shore leave: Wtf was this episode?! And I don’t ask that because the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland showed up, or that it was a random holodeck planet episode, that’s fine. When the White Rabbit appeared I was just like, ok it’s going to be one of those episodes, that’s fine. Holodeck episodes are fun, I don’t even mind a random magic alien or two appearing for no reason to wreak havoc, say by making everyone larp as Robin Hood, that’s all Star Trek, that’s Star Trek doing a Star Trek, what I didn’t like is this episode goes nowhere! McCoy sees the White Rabbit, we’re off to a good start, Sulu “Swashbuckler at Heart” sees an old gun that he geeks out on, cool. Kirk sees some woman of course. Also there’s some guy fending off a tiger. Random female guest star of the week rather than letting Uhura be part of the story gets her uniform torn by some guy. Then she imagines a princess dress and if that were me as soon as I realised I could think things into existence I would just imagine all my dream clothes. Kirk imagines an old student friend who is attempting very hard to be Irish (thank you Colm Meany for saving us from this).
Anyway so the planets a holodeck cool. And I’m like, Spock should beam down, I wanna know what he’ll see, this is where the episode could get interesting. And then it happens, but nothing happens, they don’t even make much of a deal of him not seeing anything. But then I thought what if! What if Spock didn’t beam down and this was another imagination?! What if he was some alien with some ulterior motive OR better than that we get to see Spock as imagined by whoever was thinking of him. You could go down a very fanfic road if it were Kirk’s imagined or desired view of him, or maybe you could show different people’s perceptions and then they still suspect he’s not acting like himself even though it’s how they see him, but its not quite right, cause it’s not actually how he is. Or at least I thought they were going to find out what was going on. But NOPE none of that happens. Instead leprechaun guy shows up again and Kirk just wonders off to fight him for the next fucking millennium! The uniforms they wore at the academy seem like they were made out of better quality material than that of a Starfleet captain’s. Poor Kirk must be having to replicate new uniforms every other day. Then they laugh I think, and sexual tension is presumably resolved. Then the aliens show up and are like yeah this planet is a holodeck we thought you’d like it also McCoy died but he didn’t and I’m like THEY DIDN’T CONSENT TO THIS. But then they decide to party.
It reminded me of a Red Dwarf episode called Better Than Life where they knowingly go into a virtual reality game which is basically the same as this planet. But over time Rimmer keeps sabotaging what he imagines cause he hates himself so much his brain won’t let him have nice things. And it’s still a comedy, but there’s an opportunity for exploring the character’s psyche with this setup that wasn’t done here and that made it boring.
The Galileo Seven: This episode was good!! In contrast to the last one it delivered on promises it made, it had a satisfying ending, it’s probably my favourite so far. The whole time I was like this should be about how Spock can be wrong and logic isn’t everything to be a good commander. But given the quality of the previous episodes wasn’t that great and Spock was always right about everything I didn’t trust them to do that. BUT I WAS WRONG. I thought it would be about how just because you don’t have emotions doesn’t mean you can disregard those of the crew. But instead it was about how he couldn’t predict their enemy wouldn’t act based on emotion rather than logic. And then he admitted he was wrong and helped the guy bury the other guy, and then they were about to die and McCoy was like at least I’ve lived to hear Spock say he fucked up. And then Spock jettisoned the fuel so that it might act like a flare but it gave them less time and I was like no you’ve learned nothing! Don’t just do things that severe without asking your crew. But then after they were saved it was described as an act of desperation rather than anything logical and Kirk was like that’s an emotion isn’t it? You acted on emotion? And Spock was like well yes but I’m not gonna say it like that.
I like that emotion was good actually. I think it’s a fine balance between the message of its ok to be different and using Spock as an analogy for racism, and inadvertently neurodiversity, but also not buying into the idea that emotions = weakness and lack of emotion, or emotional repression = objectivity. Even if you don’t factor emotion into your decisions (which would be impossible unless you don’t experience emotions at all) it doesn’t mean that you don’t have personal biases in your perspective. So I’m glad Spock was wrong for once.
The Squire of Gothos: This is Q this is Proto-Q. He does all the same things that Q does; he shows up in clothes that are way out of date (and he thinks they’re from 900 years ago when they’re clearly early 19th century) and he flirts with the captain. Oh and he has powers, maybe they were computer powers, but not all? And he goes on about humans being brutal, warmongering people but he’s kinda into it. He fights Kirk but there was actual tension so it wasn’t annoying like the one with the Irish guy. And then it turns out he was just a kid exactly like the Futurama episode, except he is a kid not 35. I think him being a kid makes the flirting seem weird though.
Arena: Kirk and the Gorn at Tanagra. Kirk fights a lizard because aliens wanted to encourage them to not fight by telling them to fight. I thought maybe these lizards could be proto Cardassians but then I thought they can’t be they don’t talk, but then he spoke so I thought they could be, but then he was the one who was invaded and was only defending his people so I thought they couldn’t be, unless that was actually just lies and justifications in which case they definitely would be, but then that would undermine the message of the episode so I guess not. I wonder how many leaders have killed each other before these alien’s negotiation tactic actually worked.
Tomorrow is Yesterday: This was fun. There were a lot of twists and turns. I wonder if it was before or after the moonlanding. Every plan just makes it worse and more and more people keep getting exposed to the future. Kirk could’ve easily just closed the door and beamed back at the end but instead opts to punch like six people. (I think this is where “a woman?” “Crewman.” Comes from).
Court Martial: What if Kirk actually did it though? Would that be more interesting? Maybe. At least here he has an age appropriate love interest. She’s prosecuting against him which is surely a conflict of interest. AND she has a uniform with a longer skirt! And it actually looks good, like it looks like an actual dress that she can sit down in and it still looks like a dress and not a crumpled up shirt. It’s elegant but it’s still short. I could see this being an option (for any gender) as a dress uniform but it would still make no sense when they’re serving on a ship.
Return of the Archons: I am LIVING for Spock in a medieval style hood. It’s giving me Peter Cook in a Mother Superior’s wimple in Bedazzled vibe, it’s not quite on that level of beauty, but it’s close. For some reason Sulu returned from the planet in 18th century gear but then everyone else is dressed like it’s the 19th century, with some medieval robes thrown in, and this annoys me more than it should. Maybe it’s because he’s a swashbuckler at heart. Apparently they had a completely peaceful society except for the nightly purge they seemed to have going on that is never mentioned again.
Space Seed: KHHANN! I liked this a lot until the end. I want to know the lore behind Data’s Dad having his middle and last name. Edit: Actually only the middle name is the same and the last name is just similar. I still think there’s lore there (excuse the pun), probably he’s a descendent of his cult followers or something. The story seemed to be eugenics bad and also the type of guy to basically be a eugenics cult leader would be super manipulative and abusive but just charming enough in a relationship. It does a pretty good job of showing the abuse in his relationship with the historian woman, how he switches between being loving and I guess charming, and flattering to being abusive and degrading. I wish that the historian woman could find someone that she can explore domination and submission with consensually cause that seems like it would be what she really wants. Anyway but in the end they just let him go? Like he tried to take over the ship but they were like here have a colony. They compared the place to Australia when the colonists arrived at Botany Bay and that it could be... I forget what the word was but basically ‘civilised’ and No NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO STOP RIGHT THERE NO Australia was already populated and didn’t need eugenicist cult leaders who were demonstrably bad to show up make it ‘better.’ AND THEN the historian is given the choice to go with them and she does and its framed like it’s good? Or at least ok? When they just did a pretty decent job of showing how abusive and manipulative he was and she had redeemed herself by turning against him? So I get that they probably wanted to bring him back although they’re probably not gonna bring her back, but they could’ve easily had him escape instead.
A Taste of Armageddon: Suicide machines. I forget the rest.
This Side of Paradise: SEX POLLEN! Well it’s more fall in love pollen, I guess, for one character. There’s a woman and there’s the music and the soft focus and BUT WAIT then the camera cuts to Spock not Kirk! Because she has taste. It’s about this point that I think the ‘Spock’s the most popular but Shatner wants to remain the star so we’ll emphasise their character’s relationship thus inadvertently inventing slash fic’ might’ve started. It’s time for a love triangle! She makes Spock get the sex pollen, which is not getting consent, and then he falls in love with her and is climbing trees and is all happy. Kirk can’t get a text back from Spock. Then Kirk and two others get the pollen except Kirk didn’t, but he did, but anyway I thought everyone would be horny but they weren’t they were just brainwashed. Soon Kirk is all alone on the bridge, then he gets the pollen and is happy to live as a poly triad but then he gets angry and it’s gone. Then he calls Spock to the ship and approaches the situation in the only way Kirk knows how: Homoerotic punching! So they fight for not long enough and then Spock is cured but he’s a little sad, there’s sadness in his voice, it’s not quite so matter of fact. Then Spock’s gf gets sad and the sex pollen is gone too, Spock might still have feelings for her but he has responsibilities to the ship and “to that man on the bridge” which if he was saying to just mean once again the whole ship, and its mission and the captain in a professional sense, seems a little redundant, which would surely be illogical.
The colonists get sad that they haven’t done anything for years because the sex pollen made them unambitious but I would argue maybe the sex pollen was right and you were better off just vibing. This episode was more interesting and less silly than I thought the creator of sex pollen would be. At the end Spock says that for the first time in his life he was happy. While every other character could still easily become addicted to a thing like that they could at least know they would experience happiness or any feelings again in their life, for Spock it was going back to nothingness.
Devil in the Dark: Spock calls Kirk Jim which I don’t think he has before, when he’s talking over the communicator and he’s worried he’s in danger, there’s some actual fear or urgency in his voice. Also the moment that got me was when Kirk wanted to send Spock back the ship cause he didn’t trust him to kill the creature and Spock was like “but… I’m not really as useful there I am here… so…” If I was writing it I would’ve played that up more but anyway, I like that they didn’t kill the creature. I like that McCoy said the thing. And also said “I’m starting to think I can cure a rainy day.” He’s my favourite.
Errand of Mercy: It’s kinda becoming the Kirk Spock show now, I like the ship but I miss McCoy. I like that the passive pacifists who Kirk was so angry with were actually more powerful. And KLINGONS! Oh yeah the orientalism, the yellow peril, it’s… it’s there all right. They were played a lot colder here, a little Cardassian maybe, still bloodthirsty but I don’t believe this guy has to do it himself to feel honourable, he can kill for sure but he’s fine ordering someone else to do it and being a chessmaster too.
The Alternative Factor: God this one was boring. But it does have a man with the worst beard wig I’ve ever seen. Now he’s stuck fighting the bad version of himself or something to save the universe. So remember that when you’re watching later Trek series, all of this could suddenly be destroyed if one of them gets tired.
The City on the Edge of Forever: UHURA GETS TO GO ON AN AWAY MISSION! Aaaand she doesn’t get to do anything :/ The usual three go back in time! To the 60s again! Oh wait… that’s meant to be the 30s? Oh. That’s some tall hair that lady has for the 30s. But at least said lady is a character, she’s a little perfect but she does things, she has strong beliefs, she might be written a little idealised, but she is still written like a person compared to almost every other Kirk love interest. “He says it (captain) even when he doesn’t say it” is an interesting line. So she has to die, I still think they could’ve just convinced her that you don’t make friends with fascists but ok. They never say what the Clark Gable movie is.
Operation Annihilate! Kirk’s brother dies, and so does his sister in law, leaving his nephew without parents. This is never resolved and the episode ends with them laughing about how Spock got his eyesight back.

ROBIN 80TH ANNIVERSARY - REVIEW!! - The GREAT, the okay, the meh, the wait what, and the freaking awful
Tumblr media
None of the stories I’d consider bad in this besides the Super Sons one.
They have flaws, some don’t have any but aren’t that great, and just weird choices, with some disappointments.
I’m just gonna be honest about each story because that’s all I can do.
--
DICK GRAYSON’S FIRST STORY: Really freaking good.
My favorite story is probably the first one:
Tumblr media
Like the art is the best in the whole issue, and the only real flaw is how mean they made Bruce through-out it.
It’s yet again another story of how and why Dick quit (I guess he didn’t get fired this time) being Robin, but it’s just nice. Nice pacing, timing, dialogue, good art, and because the people working on it are 80s writers and artists, it keeps it feeling classic.
Which is great for a little showing of the 80s world, and I’m no big 80s DC guy at all, but it’s a really nice flashback for that.
One thing that was disappointing but I won’t count as a flaw (since it’s really not, just a wasted opportunity) is that this kid didn’t end up being Tim:
Tumblr media
It looks like a young Tim, it’s drawn by the first artist on Tim’s Robin ongoing, written by his creator, it’s about the history of Robin, and he’s an overeager Robin fanboy-- like why wasn’t this kid Tim? He even has that dorky bowlcut Tim had when he was little, just less 80s styled.
A missed opportunity honestly.
The story though shows Dick’s compassion, talent, frustrations as he became his own man, his views on Robin, some of his sense of humor even. So his characterization is pretty great, but it is written by the man that grew Dick his own unique character to begin with, and it’s great to see this story keeps it up. (Prolly gonna find out this is an old script, but hey, it’s a good one.)
A weird retcon story, but it’s a nice callback to the 80s, and I think it’s really well-done beyond Bruce being a controlling grumpy prick to the point it feels like parody.
--
DICK GRAYSON’S SECOND STORY: It’s just alright.
Where the first story is a flashback to the 80s, this is a direct flashback to he 90s, with the writer and artist that started his ongoing solo.
And it’s good. Like I had a lot of fun reading it, good heroics, feels of it’s era, but like the last story that’s the fun.
There’s nothing really to say about it besides it’s good. There isn’t anything too standout about it.
--
DICK GRAYSON’S THIRD STORY: It’s forgettable.
I forgot this was a thing in this, and it just feels like a waste of page.
It’s in no way bad that I seen, but it’s so very bland and one note. Titans fight and Dick acts as leader. Very generic.
The art’s really good though.
--
DICK GRAYSON’S FOURTH STORY: It’s better than that last one at least.
Tumblr media
Unlike the last one, this feels like it at least has a point to be here, and it actually feels like it makes sense to be in he 80th anniversary as well.
I’m not a personal fan of the “Grayson” series, it just sexualized Dick too much honestly, made him cheesier again a bit, and the writing was a little on the off-side in a way that just made it all feel empty besides a few moments, but I never read the whole series to be a great judge on it.
But also because of that, I have no idea who these people are for this story to be grand. What makes it feel like it’s worthy of being here though is trying it back to the history of Robin like the first story with these little bits.
Tumblr media
Without these moments though, you wouldn’t have a clue why this is there.
Also Dick just suddenly wears this:
Tumblr media
Which is super duper off-putting. But Oh-ho gotta have sexy Dick in there somewhere I guess. Just-- wow, was that super sudden.
--
JASON TODD’S STORY: It’s good but this kid doesn’t look right.
The story is very simple and sweet, and I think it works a lot given Jason and Bruce’s complicated relationship.
It’s even written by Judd Winnick who did Under the Red Hood, which is awesome.
But who is this kid they keep calling Jason exactly? It irrationally bugs me, because all the art has been super spot on till this story. They even write him well, but it just genuinely doesn’t look like post-crisis Robin Jason.
Like to show what I mean--
You read it and this is how the kid speaks.
Tumblr media
Super snarky,
Tumblr media
a bit of a rude edge to it,
Tumblr media
practical sounding but rough teen-ish still
Tumblr media
yet still mature enough to feel like he can handle himself.
So you might place this around when Jason was 15 given he’s Robin, and when he was 15 and when they gave him a unique design finally away from a generic silver age Robin, he looked like a young body builder--
Like this is what Jason Todd looked like when they settled his look away from a Dick clone:
Tumblr media
A young body builder type, strong jaw, working out, mature features for his age
So who the heck is this?
Tumblr media
Like this isn’t what Jason looked like besides pre-crisis, but this is post-crisis Jason. They already settled what he looked like during that 80s run, and this isn’t it. He’s not supposed to look like a generic silver age Robin anymore.
Even beyond it not looking like what Jason’s supposed to, it doesn’t fit the dialogue. He’s written as a practical, snarky, yet in his own way still mature teen. Soooooo why’s he look 5?
It’s so off-putting and it bugs me.
However, beyond that, I really like the story, and at least the artist was good at drawing adult Jason.
Tumblr media
Them representing Bruce’s and Jason’s complicate relationship of distant but still caring is something I really enjoy. It’s so much more true to character rather than acting like Jason is just a part of the family like nothing ever happened.
More of that dynamic for them, please.
--
TIM DRAKE’S FIRST STORY: It’s pretty good, but it’s missing something.
Not the highest praise ever, but I do like this story. I enjoy it’s setting at Tim’s school. High school was a constant setting for Tim’s comics in Robin, and they rarely ever treat it like that so I enjoy this story bringing it back.
Tumblr media
I really enjoyed the connection  between extracurricular activities and what he does as Robin. It’s that blend of relatability and heroics that really made Tim work as a character. So that’s also great they brought back.
Tumblr media
One of my favorite things that they bring up is Tim being into eSports, cuz it reminds me of how much Tim was into video games. It’s a very modern version of him being into the arcades in the 90s. Which is great.
Tumblr media
However a downside is that it doesn’t really focus on Tim as a character like the other stories did with the other Robins.
Nothing about his never give up attitude, his insecurities, his underdog likability, how hard he is on himself, or things like that.
In-general this story says nothing about his personality besides a mention that he’s geeky. Which is a pretty big let-down because it keeps it from being any better, despite it already being good.
Freddie William’s art is also very hit or miss. It’s so crude sometimes, and Tim seems so buff compared to before in his actual Robin run. It’s very displeasing given that his early Tim work was top 5 Tim art material. However I still enjoyed that they brought him back even if he can’t draw Tim as well anymore. Tim’s still good in the babyface in most panels at least.
Tumblr media
BUT-- this is still a pretty good Tim story. It’s just lacking.
Like it just should’ve been more about Tim as a character since it’s a Tim Drake story.
--
TIM DRAKE’S SECOND STORY: It’s honestly just pretentious.
Tim doesn’t talk like this. Tynion has a melodramatic tone to his characters that works great for characters like Batman, I’ve actually quite liked his Batman run so far partially because of that, but it doesn’t work for Tim.
Tumblr media
This is not what Tim talks like. It’s so very unnatural sounding for a kid. Yet Tim talks in this incredibly dramatic tone except for a few light hearted spots, when I feel like it should be the opposite.
It’s also trying hard to be a character study, but again it’s so unnatural. It sounds like a fan describing their view of the characters, not the characters themselves. Like since have these guys became each others therapists?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then he has Dick say these things that makes Tim seem like a Gary Stu and the greatest most talented guy ever.
Tumblr media
Also having Tim hang out with Jason when Jason’s using guns even though Tim’s insanely against that sort of thing.
Tumblr media
They even have Damian talk like a typical fan person who dislikes Tim based off of superficial things for a bit.
Tumblr media
The fact it treats that Detective Comics Rebirth part of Tim’s character history as uber important is also a bit pretentious of the writer given he wrote that too. Despite Tim only being in that run for like three arcs and wasn’t even in-character for most of it.
Best part of it, is the vague acknowledgement that Tim didn’t want to be anything else but Robin to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Otherwise it just reeks of awkwardly written fan fiction.
Honorable mentions of quality though, is Dick and Tim being brothers train riding, and Damian’s mini-adult coming out. I’m so sick of them making Damian a generic kid sometimes that I actually liked this part even if it’s through a snarky filter.
Tumblr media
--
STEPHANIE BROWN’S STORY: Better than expected, it’s actually pretty good.
I actually really liked this story. Overall I think Steph’s actual Robin run sucked, this is still a good story if I can get past the era it’s set in.
Unlike Tim’s stories, this actually uses her character.
How reckless she can be without it being super exaggerated, her attitude, love that they brought back the diary format for her inner-monologue too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s not much to say besides I’d actually consider this one of the best stories in the thing, except for the fact Steph clearly disobeys Batman and she was said to get fired for that. That’s a decent plot holes for me.
I super love the detail of Tim being so small that Steph can’t fit in his uniform. That cheered me up.
Tumblr media
Them bringing back her Robin era artist was also great. Unlike Freddie Williams, their art actually really improved.
DAMIAN WAYNE’S FIRST STORY: The genuine worst story in it.
It’s so-- baaad.
Fan service can work if it’s in good quality. Like being in-character, or a nice homage. The train riding in Tynion’s story was that.
This isn’t that.
Tumblr media
Damian and Jon didn’t get along right away, not even soon enough for this “mostly” part to feel right as a joke, because they obviously didn’t get along mostly right away. They fought a lot. They even show it on the full page them fighting, but they downplay how long they did fight just for fanservice. It took a long time, and even when they did it was still contrived.
Then they have Damian and Jon in the same class, when they aren’t the same age for that to make sense..
Tumblr media
They even have Jon help Damian on his tests when it’s constantly shown that Damian is a brainiac who wouldn’t need that.
Tumblr media
It’s literally even in the history summary at the end that he’s highly intelligent. So he probably wouldn’t even ever need a study partner considering he’s even said to have actual PHDs anyway. Which makes the study partner thing just plain out of character.
Tumblr media
There’s also panels that straight up feels like oddly specific deviantart fetish art, which is so nasty. Especially considering that I know damn well that’s there’s pedophiles who make this same kind of oddly specific fetish art on there. So much so I had to stop using the site cuz of the anxiety it gave me.
Tumblr media
And they downplay how mean Damian can be too Jon so much that it irks me.
Tumblr media
This is the worst story in the whole comic, genuinely. Nothing good is in it, besides some decent enough art.
It’s certainly pandering to it’s fandom, but to certain parts it really shouldn’t be.
Tumblr media
(This sort of stuff was still happening in their miniseries. Jon really shouldn’t want this as a brother. That’s stockholm syndrome.
--
DAMIAN WAYNE’S SECOND STORY: It’s better than the last one, but somethings missing still.
Unlike the last one avoiding talking about Damian’s actual character besides to play it down. This one actually uses it.
Tumblr media
It’s just so quick, and empty feeling at the same time that it’s missing something. A bit like an inverse of Tim’s first story. Tim’s story had the setting and interesting story format, but no real character, while this has a lot of usage of the character but no interesting setting or story.
A lot of Damian’s character is that he’s not a natural Robin as far as attitude goes. He isn’t a typical Robin, and I enjoy how they play into that rather than be afraid of that. It’s what makes this actually work for me.
Tumblr media
Although it makes you question why he’s still Robin, I consider that a good thing, because YOU SHOULD. You want the character’s to actually acknowledge things as if they’re real and not just ignoring things.
Tumblr media
He’s not typical, he’s unique for better or worse. That’s Damian, and that’s what you should show of him.
This goes into why Damian’s the exact opposite of what a Robin normally is. That’s great.
But it’s missing anything memorable about it. However I think that’s cuz it leads into a future issue of Teen Titans which gives it a reasonable excuse.
I’m really hoping it leads into something.
Although i have a feeling they sadly might do the same thing as typical and ignore Damian’s actions more. Avoiding any genuine feelings.

OVERALL
It’s not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Only two stories I’d actually call bad, which is a lot less than I thought With just occasionally sloppy art, not even what I’d call back, but just crude or not drawing the character accurately which will annoy some more than others.
When I heard of this book I got so worried, but only two stories is actually almost relieving how little that is given the potential ego-driven things they could’ve done, which only those two stories then.
To me, I say it’s worth a pick-up, just rip out a story or two to keep it friendlier to revisit
Mostly was just really missing that extra heart in a lot of the stories.

My Favorite Movies & TV Shows About Girl Best Friends
My last post was a little on the negative side. I mostly want to keep my page positive and lighthearted. So, I’m changing it up with this list. I’m taking a break away from Marvel and Disney for now.
There are a lot of great shows and movies about friendship or that feature best friends. I haven’t seen them all. Here’s a list of tv shows and movies that focus on female friendship that I’ve seen and loved. I’ve listed them in order of least to most favorite, but I honestly love them all.
10. Alexa and Katie
Tumblr media
Alexa and Katie’s friendship is pretty awesome. Alexa has cancer and Katie is always by her side supporting her through all the ups and downs. She shaved her head without hesitation just to show Alexa she wasn’t alone. It’s great that Alexa isn’t defined by her illness. Alexa is a schemer and full of life. And Katie isn’t boring either. She’s quirky and silly and has her own life too.
9. H2O: Just Add Water
Tumblr media
Every summer, my friends, sisters, and I would swim around the swimming pool pretending to be mermaids. This show was that come to life. It’s about three friends who are accidentally transformed into mermaids. On land they are your typical teenage girls, but just add water and they are mermaids. Not only that, they also have powers to manipulate water and elements of the weather. They must keep it all a secret while navigating their way through high school. Of course, there are lots of boys and lots of fun.
8. A League of Their Own
Tumblr media
This movie is a classic. I first saw it when I was about 6 and I loved it! It showed girls tearing it up playing a boy’s sport, but we also saw how they were still women. Not women trying to be men. Women with husbands at war, women with children, women who just wanted to go out dancing with their girlfriends. We saw a great sister relationship between Dotty and Kit, and we saw all these awesome women work together, support each other, and ultimately accomplish a piece of history.
7. Now and Then
Tumblr media
This was essentially a girl version of Stand By Me. It wasn’t nearly as poignant, but that didn’t stop me from loving it. My sisters and I all wanted to be like Roberta (Christina Ricci), but maybe I’m more like Sam (Gaby Hoffmann). We see the girls deal with boys, body changes, divorce, parental neglect, and death. One thing I liked that Stand By Me didn’t have was the chance to see the women the girls grew up to be (and which movie stars portrayed them). We see even though they’ve gone their own ways, they’re still there for each other.
6. Dollface
Tumblr media
Dollface is not a perfect show. At times I found myself really disagreeing with some of the characters’ advice and thought it came across a bit shallow. Or maybe I really am just like Jules (Kat Dennings). But I love the creativity, the quirkiness, the humor. I love that it’s about learning how to be a girl friend when maybe you’re more of a lone wolf. I love that it has two Asian-American lead characters who aren’t related (Brenda Song and Shay Mitchell). And it sure ended its first season with a bang. I’m ready for season 2 if it ever comes around.
5. Ready or Not
Tumblr media
This show was a true gem. Ready or Not was a 90’s Canadian show about two best friends, Amanda and Busy, who are completely opposite of each other, and all the trials and lessons they face as they grow up. It wasn’t afraid to touch on some serious subjects. It covered things like peer pressure, divorce, slut shaming, homosexuality, sexual predators, anti-semitism, and more. A lot of the issues are still relevant today. Both characters are fully developed rather than just stereotypes. They have their own strengths, flaws, and set of family problems. Although their pairing seems unlikely, their enduring friendship is really heartwarming.
4. Parks and Recreation
Tumblr media
This isn’t really a show about girl friendship, but it has one of the best pair of girl friends in TV ever — Leslie Knope and Ann Perkins. It also gave us Galentine’s Day, a fictional holiday that girlfriends now celebrate in real life. I had to include it.
3. The Baby-Sitters Club
Tumblr media
The Baby-Sitters Club was so huge in the 80’s and 90’s. There were books, a tv show, a movie, dolls and more dolls. Thanks to Netflix, there’s a whole new updated version for new generations to fall in love with. It’s a perfect blend of nostalgia and relevance. This newer version has altered the races of a few characters, so now there’s a girl of just about every personality type and race that you can identify with.
2. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Tumblr media
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants consisted of two feature films and four (now five?) books. It follows each girl on their own story and then interweaves them as we see them come together to support each other. It has some of my favorite binge watching material: best friends, romance, and traveling the world.
1. Sweet Magnolias
Tumblr media
I found myself binge watching this series on Netflix during the pandemic, and I loved it. The first couple of episodes started out slow, but I quickly became invested in the three southern gals and their families. It’s a nice, comfy show that takes place in a nice, comfy little town. These women are grown with their own families, careers, and adult problems. We see them deal with divorce (this time as a divorcee), childlessness, business endeavors, and health scares. We also see how it all affects their children as well. It’s a great show if you’re past your teen years and want some adult friendships (that aren’t about being naughty).

Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion.
So to add some context for this one I've dabbled in game design a few years ago and in general been the kind of Pokémon fan that Likes Making Things and looking up fan content pretty much ever since I joined the community, so the conclusion I got from all that is
The typical Pokémon fangame is actually garbage
(Under cut because it'll get long and also because I'm gonna spoil some plot points of Pokémon Reborn and Pokémon Rejuvenation)
First of all, the most common idea behind Pokémon fangames is "the canon games are too easy so I'm gonna make something Harder for The Mature Audience" and you know what? Fair! The difficulty in Pokémon games reached its peak in gen 4 and basically got tossed off a cliff in gen 6, so the idea of a game that actually makes you think is very appealing. However, this causes two main problems:
1) One of the main appeals behind Pokémon games is that you get to choose your own difficulty. Every regional Pokédex has literally over a hundred Pokémon, and while this means you can choose the stronger ones for an easier time and counterpick the main bosses' own teams, it also means you can make many different combinations on the same team and turn each playthrough into a completely different experience.
For example, Pokémon X/Y is typically considered effortless, but it can actually be a pretty tough game if you just... turn off the Exp Share. Likewise, if you think that the game hands you too many overpowered Pokémon too quickly, you can just not use them. There's like 450 Pokémon in Kalos, you don't HAVE to use the starters, the Kanto starters, the gift Lucario, the gift Lapras, an Aegislash or whatever it is if you don't want to. It works for Mega Evolution as well, if you feel like it makes the game trivial you're only forced to use it once. The same is true for literally any other Pokémon game, if you want a bigger challenge you can use traditionally weaker Pokémon, use a monotype team, use unevolved Pokémon, play a Nuzlocke, the possibilities are endless, but if you want a challenge while playing what's basically the game's easy mode then of course you're gonna be bored. And that brings us to our next topic:
2) The average Pokémon fangame dev has no idea how game balance works. Case in point: Pokémon Reborn, which is basically the most famous example of A Pokémon Game For Grown-Ups, With A Grown-Up Plot And A Grown-Up Difficulty, except it's not a hard game, it's an unbalanced one. Most of the challenge comes not from the actual battles requiring a high level of strategy or resources being so scarce that you need to be inventive with them, it comes from the fact that the game is just really inconvenient to play.
I'll prove my point: One of the main aspects from Pokémon Reborn as a game is that Pokémon are hard to find and the really good ones are reserved to the engame, so combined with the fact that the gym leaders and most important bosses have full teams and are fought in terrains that stack the deck against you, you have to get creative if you want to win. This is bullshit, the only thing this restriction really does is that you have to beat the game the way the dev intended (therefore removing the customization aspect of Pokémon altogether) or just find oversights to exploit, like how the Bug-type gym gets bodied by a Vulpix or how the updated version of the Ice-type gym couldn't do anything to a Magnemite, which usually get removed in a future update effectively turning your playthrough illegal. It's not even an impartial process, as Gardevoir trivializes several midgame bosses but never gets pushed back because it's the dev's favorite.
Oh, and you know what I said about terrains? Most of them consist of the bosses' Pokémon getting several buffs just by existing while all their weaknesses get nerfed or outright neutralized, which means two things: There's no real strategy involved, since all it really does is that you have to hit the enemy with neutral moves while getting blasted by attacks with x2.25 multipliers on top of STAB, and also the game gets REALLY easy if you just change the terrain because every important boss other than the first gym leader is completely reliant on it. Seriously, if you have an Ampharos with Electric Terrain you've won.
(though to be completely fair the engine's ai is HORRIBLE so the game can't have good strategies, but that really just proves that the idea is flawed)
The gameplay isn't all, though, there's also the story as one of the main appeal of Pokémon games is that they're more mature and able to handle themes like murder, corruption, mental illness and war.
THAT'S A FUCKING LIE THEY JUST READ LIKE IF MY IMMORTAL HAD A CHILD WITH CALL OF DUTY
Like the idea of a Grown-Up Pokémon League For Adults where the deck is constantly stacked against you and every challenger has to fight the gym leader at a disadvantage is flawed from the beginning no matter how you look at it. Pokémon battles are a sport, and gym leaders are basically professional athletes, meaning that they're subject to rules and most important, public opinion. If all your victories come from the fact that you're in top condition and the competition isn't, then you're gonna lose credibility REALLY fast because could you really win in a fair fight? If you have to issue a handicap against every challenger, aren't you basically admitting that you can't win without it?
And that's before we get into the fact that most of the time the league challenge is FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE for anyone other than the player to complete, even though it's supposed to be something that affects the whole region (oh and since usually those leagues are from 'the strongest trainers all over the world' it's implied that there's a lot of challengers from other regions as well). In Reborn, one of the gym leaders was TRAPPED IN A PARALLEL DIMENSION FOR 15 YEARS and that one is ironically one of the most accessible. Half of the league members were trapped in an orphanage and unable to accept challenges, several of them are part of the evil organization and end up on the run either before or after you defeat them and several of them (including the ones from the orphanage) follow you through the region. Then there's Rejuvenation where one of the gyms is only accessible through a dream world, several of the leaders ditch their gyms either to follow the player or to hide from the police, one of them tries to kill you and ends up frozen alive and you have to repeatedly travel back and forth in time to advance the plot. How is literally anyone other than the player supposed to complete the gym challenge? Even the rivals basically stop talking about getting badges because it makes no sense.
Then there's the evil teams. Despite the fact that they're supposed to be more realistic and gritty than the canon ones, most of the time they're gonna be some sort of cult based on offensive religious stereotypes (with Giratina as satan because OF COURSE), a blatant ripoff of Team Galactic or just a fascist allegory, which I ranted about before because those are the most irresponsible. Their biggest claim to fame is that their higher-ranked members are too strong to defeat because the writer usually won't do enough research about how crime syndicates actually work and makes the league members seem even more incompetent because they're supposed to be the best of the best and yet keep getting clapped by a bunch of thugs for no good reason. They're gonna kill a bunch of people, but conveniently 95% of their victims are gonna be extras that the player has no reason to get attached to. Oh, and the edgelord Gary Oak-esque rival WILL join them for reasons.
In short, they're made using a bunch of popular characteristics without putting much (if any) thought into how they actually work together, and the gameplay is built to be unenjoyable (which doesn't necessarily mean hard) because people play them for bragging rights rather than actually having fun. Most canon games have more mature storylines because mature doesn't mean pointlessly dark, and even though most of them are hyped up by ragging on X and Y, Lysandre is a more compelling character than like 80% of the fangame villains. Oh, and Big Boy Pants unfair leagues are ridiculous

Some more thoughts about Father, I guess
I was hoping to give a short answer to this question by @holly-wee: Btw isn't it possible that Father only seen fragments of Yukine's memories because he's not a god? But someone clearly doesn’t know when to shut up.
To answer the question: yeah, that’s also a possibility. We don’t know for sure, so all we can do is speculate. Father could by lying that Yukine’s memories are fragmented. I ruled out this option because I think that if they were full, he would have taken Yukine to the fridge to really trigger the GGS. But the memories he got were not enough to piece everything together quickly and find that particular dump, so he chose to visit some of the other places. That leaves the other option: Father isn’t lying, the memories really are fragmented. I see two possibilities here. Either Father doesn’t know the exact reason why the memories are damaged, so he just assumes that it’s because a lot of time has passed between Yukine’s death and naming. Or, since he’s pretty knowledgeable about all this shinki stuff, he knows that Yukine’s memories could have started fading with time.
Father getting fragmented memories because he’s not a god makes a lot of sense to me, actually. It’s true that he is able to name and use shinki, which is an ability exclusive to gods. But he does it with kotonoha, so we can’t be sure whose power is really in force here, his or Izanami’s. I’ve seen an interesting opinion that Father’s shinki aren’t truly his shinki, and the one who’s absorbing all of their pain is actually Izanami - and that can be the reason why Mizuchi (and now Hagusa, I guess) doesn’t blight Father or any other of her masters - because all of it goes to Izanami, the true owner of the kotonoha. Who, unlike other gods, can’t die from being blighted. So if Father isn’t using the brush to its full potential because he is not its owner, that could be the reason why the naming process didn’t go as smoothly for him, and he ended up having only bits and pieces of Yukine’s life instead of the whole picture.
But I like the idea that Yato and Father got the same memories, because that would show how much Yato cares, piecing together everything to find that place and make sure that Yukine never goes near it.
Now, this is unrelated to the question at all, but since I’ve started talking about Father, I’m kind of curious about his “soul possession”. I was waiting for the official translation of volume 21 to see if there would be any big translation differences in Father’s monologue in chapter 80, ‘cause it’s kind of an important one. And while there are some pretty big discrepancies, this particular line sounds pretty much the same in both translations.
This is fast-moon’s version:
Tumblr media
And this is the official one:
Tumblr media
Father specifically says that he possesses Fujisaki’s soul, not body, in both versions of the translation. And we know he isn’t lying, because of this little episode with Hiyori.
Tumblr media
Father was already out of Fujisaki’s body when Hiyori saw him - that’s why he had his usual black robes on and was riding on an ayakashi back. But when he started talking about Yato, his real soul slipped out of Fujisaki’s for a second, which Hiyori noticed and remembered. And since Hiyori, the character within the series, saw it, it means that it wasn’t some artistic depiction of how Father is actually Father and not Fujisaki, it’s something that really happened.
And it’s a pretty unique situation, because the only other type of possession we know of is divine possession. But that one is highly specific - a god can’t possess just anyone, they have to share a bond with that human.
Tumblr media
Father says he doesn’t get to choose, which must mean that the person whose soul he ends up inhabiting each time is a complete stranger to him. So it’s not really the same as divine possession. Also, now that I think about it, “inhabiting someone’s soul” kind of sounds like a description of an ayakashi. I believe there were theories about Father being a half-ayakashi who simply hides his cord beneath the robes. But what I just said here is similar to how full ayakashi function - they take control of someone’s soul. Father as an ayakashi is a really strange concept to think about though.
Does anyone else have any idea how can Father possess a soul?

I'll admit it's a little odd that all the bears have the exact same body and faces, the only variations being in the colors. In AiC they at least had different sizes and hair styles along with clothing items. It kinda gave them something to make them stand out. I wish they had explained more about the bears lore. I have no idea how old any of them are, sometimes I get the impression that they're all eternally young children; while others, it's clear at least one of them is an adult.
This is why fandoms are really fascinating...because you get to see how other people and their experiences shape their preferences for different versions. For me, I grew up on the older versions.  So I LIKE the uniformity in the designs of the Care Bears.  If you look at the original two specials (The Land Without Feelings and the Freeze Machine), as well as the the DiC series, the four Nelvana movies, and season ONE of the Nelvana series, the Bears are for the most part uniform in their designs (other than the clothing of Grams and Hugs and Tugs).  In terms of their shapes and animations, they’re exactly the same. (This is also true in a lot of the online designs, and overall true in the 2000s movies, the 2000 web designs and even Welcome to Care A Lot). Really, the only two versions that have different styles are the second two seasons of the Nelvana series and Adventures in Care A Lot.  I don’t think it’s a coincidence that those are two of my least favorite versions, or that I felt there was a big drop off from season 1 to season 2 of the Nelvana. For the most part, I don’t like the Bears having different clothing and hairstyles.  I still hate Cheer’s ponytail in those Nelvana seasons. For me, I like to rely on the Bears’ personalities, colors, tummy symbols, voice acting and animations to make them stand out.  I like the idea that the Bears look exactly the same and that it takes those details to really establish their characters.  So maybe that’s why it doesn’t bother me in UtM, and it may be one thing I really enjoy about UtM...it reminds me of the older series in that way. I think that’s one thing I always felt was good about Care Bears...instead of trying to make each character look different, their was a sense of unity and teamwork in the idea that htey were all the same.  For me it made them feel like there was a certain bond and connection between them. That being said, UtM is not perfect, and I can certainly offer my criticisms of it.  I agree that the whole background explanation isn’t clear.  Of course, that’s been true in just about every Care Bears version, and a lot of it has never made sense (I mean, look at the two Nelvana movies).  The show is aimed at young kids, so they don’t bother fleshing out the details of the world.  Maybe that’s one reason why it hasn’t ever taken off the way MLP did, and maybe that’s something that keeps it from appealing to older people. For me personally, that’s never really bothered me though.  I think it’s because I’m like a little kid in that regard...I enjoy Care Bears for the feelings of warmth, love and cuteness, for the jokes and humor, for the personalities, for the connections between the characters, and for the animations.  I enjoy the more day-to-day type of interactions.  So I don’t really care that much about the backstories and how it all fits into the big picture.  I would like it if they did a better job explaining that, but it’s not that big of a deal to me. As far as their ages, yes, that is is an issue in UtM.  However, again, this has been an issue in the 80s versions of Care Bears as well.  It’s never made clear or explained. It is one beef I kind of have with UtM....how they’ve tried to turn Wish and Tenderheart into the Bears “parents” (and Bedtime is also kind of like an older scholar type figure).   I mean, part of me likes it, and I kind of like the idea of Wish being motherly and Tenderheart being fatherly.  But....I feel like Tenderheart did that really well in the Nelvana series while still sounding just as young as the other Bears.  He was still the leader and he sounded masculine, but you never felt like he was older. My one biggest gripe with UtM is Tenderheart’s voice.  In fact, I kind of like to look at shot’s of the UtM Tenderheart and kind of imagine him having a younger voice like he did in AiC.  I like him being young and cool and spiffy, even if he still is more fatherly and the leader. I also don’t like Bedtime’s voice, even though I’ve gotten more used to it.  I still think he could be his scholarly self and still have a sweeter voice like he’s always had...again, even with his AiC voice. To me that started in WtC...Bedtime and Tendy having voices I don’t like.  Grumpy’s WtC voice is also one I don’t like, but they fixed that in UtM, IMO.  And Funshine’s has been great in AiC, WtC and UtM. A lot of long rambling by me....but that’s my personal opinion about those topics and why I like UtM despite the points you brought up.

October 22: Friday the 13th - The Final Chapter
(previous notes: Friday the 13th Part 3)
I'm on movie number four in this eight movie project, and for the first time I'll be seeing one of these movies that I haven't ever seen before! When I do my watch-a-movie-and-take-notes projects, I generally do them for movies I've already seen before so that it's not too frustrating to simultaneously watch & type. But I'll make an exception for these Friday the 13th movies in light of the fact that they suck.
I remember this being out at my local theater in 1984, when I was 13, and even thinking it might be fun to see it, but I never got around to it.
It really must have been bittersweet for audiences at the time, knowing that this would be the final chapter. Each time they had a positive moment of enjoyment with this movie, they had to remember, "oh, I'm really going to miss this. It shall all be gone. Once the lights come back on, the days of new Friday the 13th movies will never return."
unless
Okay, watching this now for the first time ever.
Again beginning with a rehash. This time however, it's a montage of moments from the first two movies. Wait, now here's some of the third movie. But it's all framed by one of the monologues from the second movie. Much shorter and less of a cheap move than the last two movies did.
The title has a new title-plus-mask image… and then THE FINAL CHAPTER arrives to blow that image up with fire and splody-sounds!
The credits promise the likes of Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover, so that's exciting.
Okay, now it looks like we're at the ranch where the third one took place. They're hauling bodies out of the barn & other buildings. It looks like Jason's body is one of the bodies because hockey mask!
Actually, I think that first shot was a long-ish crane shot. Cinematically ambitious I guess.
We don't know yet what happened to the girl at the end of the last one. It's weird because this scene is at night, but the last movie ended with daytime paramedic activity at the ranch. I'm confused. Please help me. Please tell me that it will all be okay.
One of the covered up bodies has stirred! Jason is probably up to his not-be-dead-after-all tricks!
This scene is about a pair of frisky hospital workers in the "cold room" where there is at least one body, plus a television where the girl "just wants to watch the news". But 80s-style aerobics is what's really on the TV. And she kisses him after all and gets quite flirty, but then takes it all back because he is so insensitive or something. They show the aerobics a lot. It's all pelvic and prurient. Then Jason kills the guy with a bone saw and then goes and finds the girl and kills her with something else because diversity.
Then an abrupt cut to daytime joggers in the woods somewhere!
Now we are learning about the family of the joggers. They live in the country where there is a legend of a psycho, so I guess we're in the Crystal Lake area. The youngest child is Corey Feldman and his personality is "likes video games and wears a monster mask while playing them".
Now we are learning about the kids that rented a house across the street. Crispin Glover and another dude are in a car, talking about a girl and they clearly don't know how to have this kind of conversation, and the writers don't know how to pretend like they do so the other guy does a gag about how an invisible computer told him that CG is bad at sex. It is an unappealing intro to these characters. We even know there are a bunch of other people in the car, way too many honestly, but we don't get to know them. Just the two people who talk like broken robots about a woman.
Just to keep the mood where it ought to be, a hitchhiker they drove past gets impaled by Jason!
CF, a tweenager I should point out, is peeping-tom-ing at the canoodling couple in the rented house, and it is interesting to speculate as to whose idea it was for him to act the way he does when he watches them. He bounces excitedly and slams his head repeatedly into a pillow. Whose idea.
Now there's a skinny dipping scene. They definitely have arrived to the point in the series where they feel it's important to show pretty girls without any clothes.
For some reason, CF and the adult older sister drove to where the skinny dipping was happening, but they bolted when they realized that's what it was. There is ch ch ch ch ch ha ha ha ha ha on them as they have car trouble in the woods as they head home, plus also as two of the swimmers are hanging out. But they both turn out to be fakeouts! No one is dying at all! At least we'll always have the hitchhiker. They can't take that away from us.
The fakeout with the CF subplot is that it was just some handsome man that comes along to help. He says he is this deep in the woods because he is hunting for bear. CF totally calls him out! There's no way he's hunting for bear! No one is just like "it is bear hunting season and I am enjoying some leisurely bear hunting time". CF is no fool.
They decide to take Bear Hunter in as a guest for perhaps the afternoon. Because of the bubble of this movie, CF shows the Bear Hunter his monster toys and Bear Hunter shares in his enthusiasm.
0:37:13 - Now we are choking down this awkward scene where the young people are hanging out in their house trying to deliver dialogue that is not consistent with normal human psychology. The gist is that the men want to be sexual with the women but there are subtle social obstacles.
!!! Crispin Glover really is interesting! His screen presence absolutely towers above the rest of the cast, when he reacts unfavorably to being teased. But seriously all these interactions are so painful.
For our next murder project, we have an inflatable boat made of thin, vulnerable rubber for a person to get stabbed through. It requires assuming that Jason's magic powers allow him to just hide under water, waiting for a naked lady to lie down in the boat at night. This project was completed on time and under budget.
Seriously, the most terrifying scenes in this movie are the ones where the sexually frustrated young adults are hanging out and attempting to use words.
Another death just happened because the boyfriend of the recently-killed naked lady went to check on her, found her dead, then was Jason'd with some implements that I couldn't really understand. Something with a handle shoved into him somehow. It is filmed weirdly and then we just move on to Bear Hunter, camping nearby.
This is a disturbing turn… we're back on the uninteresting young adults, and one of them announces that he has found something very interesting! We see that it is old movie reels. They start watching them. It's old, old film of naked people. They laugh and laugh and laugh. Maybe this is art?
Pretty cool visual with this next death, we just see the shadow of Jason coming at her and killing her with a something. Looks cool as a shadow thing, plus it isn't "those stupid characters talking" which is a HUGE bonus.
We're back to CF's family; Mom saw something that startled her but we don't know what, and CF and Big Sister are… driving home in the car? Where were they, why did they drive somewhere, I forget. Maybe they had to run into town to pick up a packet of it-doesn't-matter-we-just-needed-Mom-to-be-alone.
Just like that, Older Sister went looking for Mom, but ends up taking shelter from the rain in Bear Hunter's tent. Bear Hunter, in a very predictable fakeout, slashes a hole in the tent because what is she doing in there anyway.
But we cut back to the young adults and CG gets a very ugly death! He's all "hey where's the corkscrew" and Jason makes his hand be corkscrewed and makes his face be stabbed!
Then he kills one of the other young adults just right afterward by being outside her second floor bedroom window and pulling her out the window SO HARD. Seriously it must be a hard job coming up with different ways to kill them, give them a break.
Back to Bear Hunter; he's fessing up to his true motive which is to hunt Jason. His story is hard to believe, and Big Sister is taking it in very diplomatically.
The one guy in the group of the young adults who is the biggest asshole is also the one most amused by the old films. We see them a lot, these old films they are watching. It is the silent era's version of soft core porn - women dancing naked. Anyway, the asshole's death happens when he gets the idea to be close to the projector screen, enabling Jason to stab him through it and making it look kind of cool and be a scene that ends with the projector-still-running cadence.
New death - guy is taking a post-coital shower and Jason comes in and shoves his arm through the sliding glass shower door thing and very effectively crushes the guy's head against the wall. Then the girlfriend comes in and discovers him; she runs down to the front door, but she can't open it, she just can't open it, it just won't open, and it ends with somehow Jason axe-killing her through the door from outside. They don't show it very well and no one probably ever clearly explained to anyone how it was supposed to work.
1:09:20 - This is followed immediately by a scene that is also poorly choreographed - Bear Hunter returns with Big Sister but it's a fakeout because for some reason they break the glass of the side door to get in, even though CF is right there. They are all frightened as if they know about deaths happening, even though they don't know about the deaths. It's just that the power has been spotty; that’s why things are urgent, as far as they know.
They decide to investigate the house where the young adults are staying. They are gingerly surveying the living room, and they walk right by where the projector screen murder happened, but they see no evidence of that crime.
1:11:55 - Bear Hunter tells the big sister "you stay right here with Corey". I'm pretty sure that just happened. I think he was referring to CF, whose character is not named Corey and who also is not with them.
In a shocking piece of non-linear storytelling, a dog jumps out a window in slow motion. Art. ART.
Jason kills Bear Hunter right in front of Big Sister, and even though his mission in life has been to hunt Jason, Bear Hunter doesn't even fight him off, he just begs Big Sister to run as Jason pounds on him. Big sister does run, but each of the house's exits has a dead person surprise that's too scary for her to go past so she's stuck inside with Jason!
But CF has heard her screaming and comes across the street to be with her. Oh but wait, I think they are actually now back at their house. I missed how that happened. That chase ends with a moment where she has reason to think she might have killed him by hitting him pretty hard with a cathode ray television set with an approximately 15" screen. But no, he changes back from almost-dead to regular-Jason and chases them around some more.
1:21:45 - They must have felt like their secret weapon for this movie was slo-mo thrown-through-a-window situations because Big Sister ends a portion of being chased by Jason by throwing herself through a window and landing painfully on the ground outside. Jason's all "you won this round Big Sister, but I'll be back. This is not The Final Chapter of this story!"
Everyone seems to have wound up back at the young adults' house, and CF has come up with an ingenious idea - he shaves his head to confuse Jason! Then he and Big Sister stab Jason a lot and it's all very gory and climactic.
The way the movie ends is that Jason's body twitches a little on the ground after they mostly kill him, and CF freaks out and stabs Jason many many, many more times! Cut to later on when Big Sister is in a hospital bed being told it will all be okay by some Caucasian men in white coats. They suggest that CF was pretty crazy for a minute there but that will pass. CF comes to give her a hug… but he looks scary! You guys, look, he looks scary! The big finish is that CF has a sinister look on his face. Cut to credits.
We never saw what happened to the Mom. Or the main girl from Part 3. Also it seems like there were some other young adults that just stopped being in the movie. How dare they.
Okay so I am halfway through this ridiculous project. I have watched four of the eight Friday the 13th movies. I watched them all by myself at my home during the COVID-19 pandemic. These challenging times I tell you.

Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Holocaust
Hey so I don’t know what went so horribly wrong with the formatting of that last post-- I’ve seen a version of it without the ask and first like four replies, a version where the long part is repeated twice, and for some reason two paragraphs I wrote up at the beginning went missing. Anyway here is an attempt to make a cleaner, understandable version of it, let’s hope it works
In the 1870s Charles Taze Russell founded the Bible Student movement that later became Jehovah’s Witnesses, and he was a Zionist, which idk what that means but ultimately it doesn’t matter because when he died the leadership was inherited by Joseph Rutherford who was just a regular old antisemitic bigot.
One of the main things that Jehovah’s Witnesses are known for in their literature is shitting on every other religion. They believe that they have the one true religion, and all the others are false and worthless in God’s eyes. Apparently in the 1920′s and 30′s this really got whipped into a frenzy-- even worse than it is now.
https://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/hitler-nazi.php
Jehovah’s Witnesses had already been under heat in Germany. They refuse all military service, don’t vote, and avoid all forms of nationalism and national allegiance as a part of their religion. It is very common for governments to take issue with that-- there’s a handful of countries out there now where some of those things are illegal and JWs just go straight to jail. I think it’s the main issue behind the current Russia thing but that’s unrelated. Anyway, there is a certain type of government that gets more up in arms than most when you say you don’t give a shit about them and feel no allegiance whatsoever. The Witnesses were in an increasingly hostile environment and they knew it.
https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jehovah-s-witnesses-in-the-holocaust
https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/nazi-persecution-of-jehovahs-witnesses
Jehovah’s Witnesses had a convention on June 25, 1933 in Berlin. The convention hall was covered in swastika flags. The program opened with Song 64, which had previously not been sung in years due to having the exact same melody as the German national anthem.
There’s an account of that in the book Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Third Reich, but it’s behind a paywall on JSTOR so I can’t really link it. The relevant quote is from Konrad Franke, who was the former branch overseer from Germany’s Bethel and was horrified by what he saw.
This was extremely weird for all of the obvious reasons but also because Jehovah’s Witnesses consider flag worship and all other nationalism to be a form of idolatry. It’s why they refuse to say the Pledge of Allegiance in the US, there’s been several lawsuits over the issue in the past.
The convention was used to issue the Declaration of Facts. It addresses a conspiracy theory that claimed Jehovah’s Witnesses were being secretly paid for their preaching work by Jewish people— by saying that Satan must have started that “malicious” rumor. It immediately jumps to this quote:
“The greatest and the most oppressive empire on earth is the Anglo-American empire. By that is meant the British Empire, of which the United States of America forms a part. It has been the commercial Jews of the British-American empire that have built up and carried on Big Business as a means of exploiting and oppressing the peoples of many nations.”
It also says that JWs do not oppose the German government’s principles, but “stand squarely” for them. And also: “A careful examination of our books and literature will disclose the fact that the very high ideals held and promulgated by the present national government are set forth in and endorsed and strongly emphasized in our publications and show that Jehovah God will see to it that these high ideals in due time will be attained by all persons who love righteousness.”
Link to English translation: https://www.jwfacts.com/pdf/declaration-of-facts.pdf
It was reprinted in the JW 1934 yearbook pages 134-138. https://archive.org/details/1934-JwYearbook/page/n1/mode/2up
According to the 1974 yearbook p. 111, JWs were given 2,100,000 copies of the Declaration to give out to as many people as possible after the convention. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/301974004#h=239
The one that went to Hitler came with a personal letter from Rutherford attached.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s in German. Here is an English translation:
https://www.jwfacts.com/pdf/letter-to-hitler.pdf
It describes Jehovah’s Witnesses as “standing on the foundation of positive Christianity.” Positive Christianity is the actively antisemitic form of Christianity pushed by Hitler and the Nazi regime. It’s mainly about depicting Jesus as white and his main goal in life to have been fighting Jewish people, who then killed him. Here’s the wiki article on it:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_Christianity
Rutherford’s letter also claims the Watchtower Society has been staunchly pro-German for years and that that’s why the entire Governing Body was thrown in jail in the US in 1918. The Watchtower did condemn the war effort and all JW leaders were charged and found guilty under the Espionage and Sedition Act, but it was for 20 years, not 80 like the letter says, and the decision was almost immediately reversed and the charges dropped.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Jehovah%27s_Witnesses_in_the_United_States
https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/watchtower-study-october-2018/1918-one-hundred-years-ago/
The letter blames Jewish businessmen and Catholics for leading a propaganda campaign against Jehovah’s Witnesses and persecuting them. Rutherford then says that JWs “are fighting for the very same high ethical goals and ideals” as the national government. Also “referring to the purely religious and unpolitical goals and efforts of the Bible Researchers, it can be said that these are in full agreement with the identical goals of the national government of the German Reich.”
Rutherford spends a good chunk of the letter denying allegations of communism and begging Hitler to lift the bans on the religion.
In modern contexts, the Society brags about this. This whole story has been respun as thousands of Jehovah’s Witnesses sending Hitler personal letters imploring to his humanity and asking for an end to Nazi persecution for everyone. A good specific example is from a 2011 Watchtower. It says “Did Hitler receive letters of protest from church officials concerning the outrages perpetrated by the National Socialists, or Nazis? There were some, but such letters were few and far between. In the Moscow archives, however, Eberle found a file containing a number of letters sent to Hitler by Jehovah’s Witnesses from different parts of Germany, protesting against the conduct of the Nazis. In fact, Witnesses from about 50 countries sent Hitler some 20,000 letters and telegrams protesting the mistreatment of Jehovah’s Witnesses. (...) [This] testifies to an act of collective and uncompromising defiance that commands respect.”
https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2011731#h=4
The letter and Declaration did not give Hitler a change of heart. In March 1935, he reintroduced compulsory military service. All Jehovah’s Witnesses refused to comply. On April 1, the religion was placed under full ban.
There had been between 25,000-30,000 JWs in pre-Nazi Germany, and 20,000 stayed active through that era. About 6000 were placed in concentration camps or prisons.
https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/nazi-persecution-of-jehovahs-witnesses
Jehovah’s Witnesses— unlike other groups— were allowed to walk out of the camps at any time if they signed a paper renouncing their faith first. I don’t have any hard numbers, but every source just says that very few did. Approximately 1200 died. They wore a purple triangle, and for a while, purple was like the JW color, if that makes sense, but nowadays there’s an official Org logo and it’s blue
Culturally, Jehovah’s Witnesses paint themselves as the shining beacon of spiritual resistance to the Nazis while simultaneously throwing every other group that was there under the bus. They say they’re the only ones who went into the camps and came out spiritually stronger, the only ones who made it out with their faith intact, and the only ones who supported each other as an internal community. Since the internet became popular, they’ve gotten more careful about what is printed outright in publications, but old yearbooks are really bad. They’ll draw parallels to Witnesses thrown into Soviet era gulags and talk about how they’re the only clean and righteous people in there, and everyone admired them and had to admit that, even the guards
Also this might be really shitty of me to say but I don’t think anything about JWs’ behavior in the Holocaust is inspiring or uplifting. I don’t think choosing to stay in the camps is so amazing of them. I think that’s what I would have done if I had lived in that era. I think it’s perverse to tell people— especially children— that God demands proof of their faith in the form of their blood spilled out on the ground

Demon Lord, Haagenti
Tumblr media
Image © Paizo Publishing, by Sally Gottschalk. Accessed at her website here
[Commissioned by @tar-baphon. This may be the single longest monster I’ve written. Part of the problem was that I had my own ideas for Haagenti’s abilities, but I also needed to incorporate the canon Pathfinder material from Book of the Damned. So if this Haagenti is too lengthy or complicated for your tastes, cut the extracts and the internal alchemy ability. If you do, bump his AC to a more respectable-for-the-CR AC 47. I gave him a lower AC with the assumption that he would boost it on the first round of combat with shield, barkskin or both.]
Demon Lord, Haagenti CR 29 CE Outsider This creature is the epitome of a fiend, appearing as a massive bull-like humanoid with leathery wings and golden horns. Wisps of foul vapor emerge from his nose and mouth.
Haagenti, The Whisper Within CE male demon lord of alchemy, invention and transformation Domains Artifice, Chaos, Evil, Strength Subdomains Construct, Demon, Resolve, Toil Favored Weapon battleaxe Unholy Symbol image of the philosopher’s stone Worshipers alchemists, drow, transmuters Minions fleshwarped creatures, golems, retrievers For information on his Obedience and boons for his worshipers, see Book of the Damned
Haagenti, the Whisper Within, seems on first glance to be among the more enlightened and beneficial demon lords. He is patron of alchemy and invention, and by his tutelage many wondrous inventions have entered the world. But Haagenti chooses his battles carefully, and bestows his knowledge and devices to people he knows will use them to harm others, destabilize societies and overall spread misery and ruin. He is the originator of the philosopher’s stone, and by its use has ruined economies and returned villains from the grave.
Haagenti is a master of disguise, and enjoys experimenting with new shapes as a debutante tries on clothing. He always includes some clue to his true identity by incorporating some monstrous feature, although he may hide these or “accidentally” reveal them as he sees fit. This mastery of shapes applies to his battle tactics as well. Not only does he frequently change form in order to use new abilities, he also delights in transforming his opponents. He has mastered various types of transmutation magic, and his very breath turns creatures into warped parodies of themselves, in excruciating pain unless they obey his commands. Haagenti can transform his own blood, bile and bones into alchemical extracts, enhancing his own abilities or decanting them as boons to his minions and servitors.
The layer of the Abyss in which Haagenti dwells is known as Cerebulim. It is a seemingly endless laboratory, filled with libraries, menageries, workshops and galleries. It is also filled with secret passages and traps, and Haagenti can reshape its corridors and rooms at will from several carefully hidden control centers. Those that seek knowledge or a powerful tool here are subject to Haagenti’s cruel whims, and few of them escape unchanged in mind and body.
Ring of Haagenti Minor Artifact Slot ring; Aura strong (no school) CL 20th. Weight -; This plain brass ring is inscribed with a single rune representing Haagenti. An alchemist, or creature capable of preparing alchemical extracts, that wears this ring may prepare one additional extract of every level it has access to.

Master of Shapes (Su) Haagenti cannot be affected by any polymorph or transmutation effect unless he wants to be. He can use his change shape ability as a move action, and whenever he does, he heals 4d8 hit points. Mutagenic Breath (Su) Three times per day as a standard action, Haagenti can breathe transformative vapor in a 40 foot cone. All creatures in the area that succeed a DC 39 Fortitude save are staggered for 1d4+1 rounds. A creature that fails gains the fleshwarped simple template and suffers from intense pain, taking a -4 penalty to all attack rolls, damage rolls, skill checks, saving throws and ability checks. This pain is alleviated for 24 hours when the creature obeys Haagenti’s orders, otherwise it is permanent. This effect can be removed only with a greater restoration, miracle or wish. A creature that succeeds its saving throw is immune to the mutagenic breath of Haagenti for the next 24 hours. This is a pain, polymorph effect, and the save DC is Charisma based. Penetrating Gore (Su) Haagenti’s gore attack overcomes all damage reduction and hardness. Ultimate Craftsman (Ex/Su) Haagenti can make any magical or technological item, as if he possessed all crafting feats. Haagenti takes 1 day to craft an item per 10,000 gp of cost, and can create any mundane alchemical item as a standard action. In addition, once per week, Haagenti may spend one hour to create a philosopher’s stone.

*insert IM TRISH KIN BUCCIARATI joke here*
epickinnienaranciaYesterday at 11:45 PM
JDDBSJDBD YES bc ofc she gotta be Reassuring but at the same time his Himboism Knows No Bounds One of the lines in EoH u can give her is “Go get me an Italian Vogue magazine too while you’re at it” and I’m like. Queen
nozomijoestarYesterday at 11:46 PM
JDHDHDF BDE Narancia whipped Narancia stands no chance
epickinnienaranciaYesterday at 11:46 PM
OH FOR REAL one of HIS victory lines is something about getting all the stuff for her lmao And this is like even if she isn’t in the battle, Always Thinking Of His Queen
nozomijoestarYesterday at 11:50 PM
Trish decides to test the limits of this and his ability to recognize them by asking for impossible or nonexistent items/feats and when he continues to try for her without question she realizes she has too much power and must restrain it fjdjjdjfjf Can't turn into Dad
epickinnienaranciaYesterday at 11:51 PM
JDBDBSJS The color palette changes while she has an inner monologue while she watches him try to make her happy
nozomijoestarYesterday at 11:53 PM
"Oh my god Bucciarati was right...he's too loyal for his own good I need to stop even if it's a little fun"   Meanwhile Narancia: growing more and more frustrated with himself for perceived failure to someone he loves
epickinnienaranciaYesterday at 11:55 PM
She stops for the most part but does it every so often bc it’s cute
nozomijoestarYesterday at 11:56 PM
Lucky to have a freak like dat I feel like the only thing that can counter this self defeatism Narancia can get (bc his younger childhood...ofc he's fucked up and anxious and paranoid abt not being enough or abandoned) is Trish having to open her own repressed self up and love the shit out of himLike those reassuring lines she has in EoH and her moments in the anime/manga Bruno fucking does it as his father figure and Narancia admits it gives him strength
December 19, 2019
epickinnienaranciaToday at 12:04 AM
Yes, he feels like he has to prove his worth and like he’s worth having around otherwise he’s useless, i def feel like he would not like talking about the stuff that happened in the past with everyone bc he would feel ashamed and stupid or st, he needs to be told You Are Enough and her to open up too so they can lean on each other
nozomijoestarToday at 12:12 AM
Honestly no jokes for a second I feel like this is also abt breaking toxic masculinity bc it's fucking Italy in the early 00s just out of the 90s...it was RIFE rifer than even now with that shit like in much of the world then too, the idea that a boy becoming a man and men in general need to strictly follow dumbass self harming rules
especially abt not opening up and only having real priorities for earning money, honoring family, and procreating as much as possible whether it's marriage making a family or "having sexual conquests" in promiscuity, anything outside of this bullshit image can't be tolerated and you might as well be a woman or "a fag" if you don't assert some fictional narrative of trying extremely hard to have power in everything bc that's all that matters is the ridiculous idea of Alpha Males applied to humans
Narancia being a 80s- 90s kid with the childhood he had did not give him much fighting chance at all in this context and time period  esp just bc he happened to be born with a dick and thus saddled with these harmful expectations society made that could've only further repressed his recognition of not beating himself up and his own emotional needs on top of EVERYONE ever betraying him Where was he supposed to go? He can't go anywhere unless he meets Bruno
epickinnienaranciaToday at 12:18 AM
yes i agree..... like, males being looked down upon for opening up, being societally forced to shoulder the burdens and “man up” and just deal with it and fix everything. And then already having a toxic support system with his “friend” betraying him and his dad Sucking Major Ass, all he’s been taught is deal with it but hasn’t been given the tools to know how, and if Bruno didn’t meet him he honestly would be so stuck, what person (esp in that time period) is going to go out of their way to help an uneducated young male?
nozomijoestarToday at 12:20 AM
Even if it tragically ends with his death in canon I feel like the time he spent with Bruno's bois, Giorno, and Trish was huge in making some of that crack little by littleBc he has moments where you see how sweet he actually is, his "real" personality if you will underneath all the unresolved anger when he's with ppl he sees love him and give him hope When Giorno said No One Is Going To Hurt You Anymore that just made me cry harder
epickinnienaranciaToday at 12:23 AM
Yes! Like, ofc he gets angry, has unrepressed rage and reactions to things, he hasn’t had any type of emotional support in SO long and it’s not like it’s 100% fantastic in that regard with buccigang (which don’t get me wrong they are family but they are still in an aggressive gang and go off and give each other lots of shit)-YEAH AND THE FUCKIGN PLANT GROWING TOO IM
nozomijoestarToday at 12:25 AM
Trish is legit I think the one person aside from Giorno who would treat him without even the gang's aggressiveness Narancia is my fav in VA even if Bruno is the best written VA character bc he's me, this kind of shit in my life is why I developed PTSD undiagnosed since my childhood that only kept getting worse until only this year have I gotten any true help I know exactly how he feels
Esp when you think your whole life exists to serve others never yourself NaraGio shippers I see y'all argument even if I don't follow it tbh, Gio was again the only one besides Trish to consistently care for Nara in day to day and when he was in danger and esp during the Clash and Talking Heads fight Gio was the one dude present like No Narancia It's Ok Please Tell Me What's Wrong You're Clearly Stressed
epickinnienaranciaToday at 12:31 AM
yeah although i haven’t experienced it i can still empathize and try to understand, i think there’s so many layers of protection and walls that most people never truly look past it to see the root cause or true self YES that fight was so frustrating bc they were all like Narancia stop being an idiot when something was clearly wrong and he was obviously in distress!!
nozomijoestarToday at 12:32 AM
Also Gio was the only one who first asserted that No, Narancia did the right thing in fighting Formaggio
epickinnienaranciaToday at 12:33 AM
Yes and with that whole interaction the gang often uses Narancia as the scapegoat essentially and just give him shit for every little thing without trying to understand his POV
nozomijoestarToday at 12:33 AM
The Clash fight tbh I feel was an ass pull set up to give Narancia his big bad ass loyalty proving moment even if it's a great fight that beginning part is...only the Trish and Gio interactions rly make sense fjdjdjI wish him and Giorno hung out more or I guess more like talked more bc you can't rly hang out when you're getting assassinated every day hfgdg
epickinnienaranciaToday at 12:36 AM
Yeah hdkdb, even with Fugo, even tho he found him and brought him to Bruno, he still calls him a dumbass, stabs him with a fork and shit, and then with Mista even tho I feel like they are Like Bros, he destroys Narancia’s radio for no fucking reason and also has a pattern of taking shit Narancia paid for without paying him backI def agree with that, I feel like Giorno interactions were lacking in that there really weren’t many one on one meaningful things so it’s hard for me to grasp his personal headspace and relationships a lot of the time
nozomijoestarToday at 12:37 AM
However to be a little more fair to the Bucci gang the manga version has Narancia trying a lot lot more to get their attention in logical ways that unfortunately Talking Heads completely ruins, he tried writing to let them know what was happening and TH warped the text into him saying vulgar things bragging abt his dick being a powerful Stand
epickinnienaranciaToday at 12:38 AM
Yeah I was gonna add I wasn’t sure if the manga had other stuff, tbf
nozomijoestarToday at 12:38 AM
I think this is also Shounen Tropes of the 90s at play too the "child" character was often written as the comic relief dumbass Narancia suffers it so it does add a layer of Not Good to his relationships The trope still exists tbh Anime cut out him writing I assume bc it's too sexual It's already pushing it having him whip it out and piss in front of everyone jfhdhd
epickinnienaranciaToday at 12:41 AM
Yeah you right, it’s like the i want it to be that deep meme, like Araki obvi doesn’t have him only as comic relief but if he delved into his character more there would’ve been so much more that could’ve been done and shown YEAH DJDBDJDJF I WAS SURPRISED THT WAS ANIMATED
------------------------[ CUT INTERMISSION ]-----------------------------
nozomijoestarToday at 12:51 AM
Ok but to get back on track with where I was trying to go even opening this all up is how it's critical to NaraTrish in a mutually beneficial way

Nara is no incel he's a King obvs but he is also at heart a confused scared kid uncertain of anything in the world beyond what's closest in his grasp and without someone actively believing in and validating him he can't fully achieve awareness of healthy dynamics and even the problems within the ones he already has with his gang and Bruno- Trish doesn't have to babysit him and be the stereotypical The Woman Only Supports And Gives Up Her Body bc thats never her and couldn't be her and Narancia wouldn't make her that way bc even when he kinda touches on that (giving in a bit to the idea that men are the main protectors of women) when he gets too fixated on wanting what he thinks is for her wellbeing he does snap out and acknowledge he's wrong bc
Trish by her independent nature and tremendous Will proves those stereotypes are bullshit, not even factoring in their first meeting as already making a huge impression on his beliefs of what girls can do- Trish knowing how to challenge him by staying true to herself yet having the compassion to help someone suffering and with fewer chances from birth than she had would not only win him over but give him something even Bruno can't, self sustaining confidence, bc Trish isn't part of a chain of command, she's just a girl in love with a boy who wants him to be happy and that concept while foreign to him for so long once it kicks in he could actually learn to build himself For himself and For someone who wouldn't use him for some greater schemes or dirty work,
I love Bruno ok he's one of the best characters in anything ever but his flaw in his ability to help motivate ppl is tied to that fact that he's bringing them into a dangerous strict order of command to Serve not entirely in a place/way that lets them just be themselves and realize organic loving relationships with anyone and themselves SO
epickinnienaranciaToday at 1:05 AM
they’re healing...... being shown love without a position of authority or any obligations is so powerful for his growth
nozomijoestarToday at 1:25 AM
That all being said, Everything Trish does he's paying attention to, she keeps him alive during the Grateful Dead fight not because she needs him to serve for a cause ( a cause might I add even Bruno the near saint he is was ready to let Nara go right then and there for bc death is in the job description) but because she doesn't know him well yet and shit he even swung a knife at her when they first met over who was in the bathroom, but he's a person suffering and in pain and to let him die even if it's Expected Of The Mission is garbage to her even if she respects Bruno down the line as a father compared to fucking evil Diavolo,
Trish constantly goes out her way to do these things for Nara bc Trish instinctively knows he's the most vulnerable mentally and her sense of compassion and justice (likely something Donatella made sure to instill in her before her death by cherishing Trish and spoiling her even as a single mother) will not stand to not help someone when she could've- and he reciprocates it even if in disbelief bc he can tell This Person Is Safety, This Person Is Like Me Yet Not, A Better Me I Want To Be, by the time he's about to die someone with his fragile mind was actually gaining conviction about taking control for himself on his own terms and he would risk even those chances to defend the person who actually helped him arrive there (along with Gio) in the first place,
I think by the end of his life he rly did love her or start to, it being romantic or not is up to individual interpretation to which you know I'm in the romance camp, point is he found someone who truly taught him strength without him fully realizing it and did so without belittling him, if anything instead treating him only with love and kindness and patience (not being a door mat for him, but like, not treating him like ass like everyone else has their moments of either), I think anything Trish asks of him, this is all why he's so willing to do it on top of feeling deep  empathy, I've written in my character notes as well that like this goes even further to sex being one of the most intimate things there is, like I kno we jest and jape abt Teens Doing Dumb Shit bc we're clowns
but the sheer vulnerability you have to have esp in a first love situation to be willing to go through with that for the first time ever takes a lot of trust and courage, aspects I think Trish was able to give him and would solidify in asking something seen as so important for many people from him, the headstrong Trish wants to be vulnerable for him and the slowly confidence boosted Narancia wants to accept that faith and trust and love and exchange it with his own of the same for her, it's not horny teens 100% it's two hurt but hopeful kids on the verge of having to be adults wanting to find another piece of identity in how they are with someone else, obvs it will forever be offscreen bc pedos deserve to be skinned alive
I just feel that the components that would fuel them to do something teens try to do to feel more adult and bc hormones are a lot more based in growing maturity than pure lust, I think this is what I fully mean by Writing About Teens Exploring Love And Sexuality; Not Fetishizing And Reveling In Showing The Act Itself Especially For Disgusting Titillation, I think this and not explicitly writing the sex are the difference between child porn and creating realistic characters
epickinnienaranciaToday at 1:36 AM
Yeah, it is going to sound like a dumb take but the topic of sex and sexuality itself is not inherently sexual, by which I meant it isn’t the focus — there’s SO much more to it and in this case especially it can be like the ultimate sign of love, trust, intimacy, compassion, trying to make your way as a teen through a harsh world, like I can go on. Nasties Dont Interact but the shying away from the mere mention of it in a non-sexualized context is unrealistic.
Yes The Grateful Dead fight i 1000% agree is so important in both his personal growth and the development of their relationship, I think it’s an important parallel that he is dumbfounded about her going to such lengths to keep him alive without the sense of duty/obligation versus Trish’s feelings and outbursts of confusion on why Bucciarati and his gang even cared about her, protecting her to the point of death being on the line.(edited)
epickinnienaranciaToday at 1:44 AM
all these elements of complication and similarities between their characters is why ive gotten so passionate about both them and their relationship (whether romantic or platonic it’s really fucking strong and good), the story of two kids making it through adversity, learning to unshoulder their burdens and lean on others, the Found Family™️, and learning and growing together is just so much more fucking deep and complex than the mainstream bs that exists.
now im not any type of elitist hipster but esp in male and female relationships portrayed in what feels like basically fucking everything are just like CompHet Bullshit and they’re together bc They Are Just Supposed To Be (not to mention the toxic masculinity culture within that where the women barely have character arcs and are just seen as objects anyways) But what I’m trying to say is that in this the relationship is real and it feels earned in a way that just isn’t there in so much other media out there(edited)

Top 50 Best Transformers Fanfiction Stories 2020
Tumblr media
Best Transformers Fanfiction Updates That You Must Read
Since Childhood, I am watching transformers and looking forward to becoming a transformer one day, Grew up by Reading Transformers Fanfiction Stories and was always amazed by the fictions that used to pop out from such inspiring Fanfiction Lovers. Also liking the Transformer Fanfiction Crossover a lot.
Tumblr media
If I Start Giving my Opinions about Transformers Fanfiction Lemon and Transformers Crossover fanfiction, I don't think so that I won't end the topic of Transformers Fanfiction Stories even in 24 hours. Lukas Schimik Agreed ! Don't know why everybody hates it, I think it's still my number 1 TF movie! Optimus new look, Lockdown & Galvatron, KsI (bots), Dinobots, cast ( HATED this Sam & Mikeala ) and the TF/human conflict. Still love it. Miguel GC Gamer Age of Extinction is the only film that entertains that I don't skip any parts of the movie and I like all the characters in this film and the transformers designs are great, dino bots are Awsome. Vincent H well....bad taste is also bad taste at the end of the day. I know you younger kids think that everyone is supposed to have an opinion and everything is subjective blah blah blah but if you're a cinephile than the Transformers are objectively bad films. They are cynical cash grabs made to make money in China. Bay and the producers have said as much. I mean you can like whatever you want. If you wanna listen to Teletubbies soundtrack all day that's your right....but that does mean you have shitty taste. It's okay. Not everyone has good taste. urtpro 2 I'm not hating I'm genuinely curious. I certainly like it more than Last Knight but barely lol. I'm curious the reasons why AOE fans consider it one of the better Transformers movies. I will say it was nice to switch up the protagonist and all that since Sam Witwicky had worn out his welcome by the third film. And the actress who played Wahlberg's daughter was smoking hot, so that was a plus too. Oliver Parker I thought the premise of the world hating and hunting the Transformers(regardless of Faction), cuz of what happened in Chicago(in DOTM), was kool, MW was a refreshing Main Hero over Shia tbh, and Lockdown was Badass! Honestly kinda just laughed off the whole Romeo and Juliette law thing as being just a bad movie joke! I’m mean honestly I know there’s no such law, and as such it didn’t really bother me! Just rather thought it was somewhat silly! Yann Labeille Well Lockdown was a pretty good villain for once in the movies. However Galvatron went nowhere after this. Anthony That isn't true. I saw Bumblebee yesterday and I find it Like watching E.T., the movie is just on Charlie, not really much on Bee. The only g1 part is the first 5 minutes of the movie. Too much 80s references. Sometimes is even boring for me. It Was a cute movie but absolutely not my favourite. I still prefere the first one. Aron T-900 I'd rather get vibes from ET and Iron Giant instead of witnessing stupid humor, unnecessary hot shots, dogs humping each other, unrealistic explosions, parents acting like they belong in a cartoon, patriotism and confusing slo-mo action sequences. Cam Rich I preferred the first and third ones as they have so much more action in them making the films actually entertaining, when most of bumblebee is almost like a compilation of ‘cute’ little clips of bumblebee and that annoying girl taking up almost the entirety of the movie. Max Ramirez Personally prefer the 2007 movie because it's just overall more entertaining to me. Also, you can pretty much tell Bumblebee was a movie that was directed towards kids so 2007 wins for me So Sit back and enjoy reading my favorite transformers fanfiction lemon and Transformers fanfiction Crossovers Collection. That I have collected for you guys. I Hope You Guys liked our collection of the best transformers fanfiction stories and updates that we have presented above for all fanfiction lovers out here. Transformers Fanfiction Crossover Stories 2020(Updated) Transformers is America based  Franchise that was first seen in the 1980s globally. So the first five transformers Films was directed by Michael Bay. I really believe that this was the boost up for the Transformers Fanfiction Crossover stories that I really liked about among the whole and sole of the transformers fanfiction stories including the lemon version of the franchise. Minaya Rojas Tony: We have a Hulk! Optimus: We have a Grimlock! Porg King VII Bee is here what would Optimus want with that what would he take her hostage IT SOUNDS LIKE HE HAS BEEN BRAIN WASHED BY DESEPTAGONS Siidimus Prime! Except they transform their aliens they have Real blasters Different Voices blood Etc. arfhanisbest The interesting thing is that transformers would actually make for good marvel villains. dave tasca The original transformers comics were made by marvel and marvel had to do with the original transformers tv show so they really should try to get the rights back jovinprime Poop soc This would've been more awesome if gi joe, rom the spaceknight, M.A.S.K., micronauts and the other properties interfere with the whole marvel universe and the transformers both. That would be, not only a big, giant, massive crossover event, but a... gigantic, space-involving, multiversal collusion as well Darkknight329 yes megatron hack the armor with Soundwave and turn it off then they all just step on them but they will throw hulk to cybertron and leave him to the toxic oxygen Dr. Nobody Celz On they are robots what is a snap gonna do I know buckys arm was turned to dust but still they have weapons that can make thanos cheese agnas yes because they’re alive. They go to the allspark when they die, they are alive just like us, just made of metal. Bee is here Tony: We have thanos Optimus: We have your mom Tony:0_0 ok you win now give me my mom Hoping that you guys liked our collection of the topmost fanfics about the transformers fanfiction crossover flavors that we have published above this.

Transformers Fanfiction Lemon Version 2020 Funny Part of the Franchise is that the transformer's movies, on one hand, was loved by the fans and on the other hand there were critics about the direction "Worst Director of all Time". Still, there are some dirty minded people who are always in search of the Transformers Fanfiction Lemon and some people also call it Transformers lemon Fanfiction. Night light I really want to be apart of one of micheal bays movie of transformers Flo Parsons see this is why I love transformers, because the actors ACTUALLY seem like they are having fun, and they are such fun films to watch obert Delgad Even though the movie sequels are not that great, but you have to give Michael Bay a lot of Credit for what he does. fake lol Bay is a genius I mean, I wouldn't be able to figure out the scale of you know the explosions Like the layout nig*a LOL, lol or as you typed if, Lol: an acronym for laugh(ing) out loud or lots of laughs, some say it is Lots of love, is a popular element of Internet slang. It was first used almost exclusively on Usenet, but has since become widespread in other forms of computer-mediated communication and even face-to-face communication. Alex Bruh Bumblebee knows how to pick up ladies more than Sam 😂 lala I remember being a kid and having the biggest crush for Megan. Good lord she was so hot Michael ceasar Back than I thought Sam was looking at her belly and so was I saying "Hot belly I guess." hotman 280 Michael Bay while directing: Yeah Megan arch your back, perfect perfect. Get a good shot of her sweat glistening tanned bronze body. Yeah just like that. chief ada Yeah right. That engine is a big block. Fuel injected side draft 8 barrel carburetors. Hell even the headers are up and over side mount. And the damn engine is worth more then the car. As he only paid $4500.00 That damn engine alone cost $20,000.00! Leave the critics aside all I want to know is: How did you people find our transformers fanfiction lemon version? comment down below if you guys liked this collection on some of the best lemon flavors of transformers fanfiction stories. Transformers fanfiction Bumblebee Stories Updated The best part of the Transformers franchise is that bumblebee is the only character that got most of the positive reviews. This can be a reason that people Love Transformers Fanfiction Bumblebee Version a lot. No worries because we have provided some of the best Bumblebee fanfiction stories that you will enjoy reading. Master Yoda "Wasp", "Stinger" or "Hornet" would be appropriate Decepticon sounding names as "Bumble Bee" sounds too friendly. ron 1j2j barricade is a ford mustang and bee is a Chevrolet camero trust me they will not be friends pro gmer yes i do lol they killed ironhide and ratchet and jazz and sideswipe is already missing dnt know if hes alive but hes my favorite hari bhaskar I'm Bumblebee was a Decepticon he'd be dead like the other Decepticons, because boi they sure kill Decepticons like it's nothing. mighty raju Blackout had skills. Shockwave had skills. The Fallen had skills. Yet they all died like they're nothing. Why? Cause they're Decepticons lol. It's simple rlly, they kill off Decepticons like they're nothing that's just how it is lol. habob What about “what if sentinel prime didn’t betray the autobots” I think age of extinction and beyond wouldn’t have happened since sentinel basically destroyed N.E.S.T. And also Rachet and Ironhide wouldn’t have died so the Autobots would have had a great advantage, and then Sam would still be with the autobots since he disappears after DOTMBasically, I’m saying that the Transformers franchise would have dramatically changed if Sentinel didn’t betray the Autobots. ShyGuy 15 In the movies, technically Megatron is an anti-hero. The first movie makes an acception bc he was using the allspark for pure evil, also in Aoe no reason told us what he was trying to accomplish other than detonating the seed. So 2, 3, and 5, he has reasons to his doing Rotf: using the pyramid to kill the sun and repopulate cybertron. Dotm: rebuild cybertron. TLK: kill unicron using cybertron. This is all in my own mind, not sure if anyone else agrees with me Simon Tyson I forget what it was called, but there was a comic book series where Megatron was an Autobot. It basically swapped all the characters so that Optimus, Bumblebee, Iron Hide, etc. were bad guys. Megatron, Starscream, etc. were good guys Dank Starscream If Bayformer Megatron's history is similar to the IDW comics Megatron's history...then that would mean the Autobot government was not all that good, and would be directly responsible for why Megatron turned out the way he did. Because he was a slave to their functionalist system of control, and he would have remained a slave worker miner if he didn't rise up from the lifestyle forced on him and formed the Decepticon faction... Though it seems to me that if this were the case, Bayformers Megatron would still have become a gladiator before forming the Decepticons...and then eventually he found his way into more of the politics of Cybertron after one day meeting with Optimus Prime (Orion Pax at the time) and then they became brothers/friends. In that sense...it would be similar to how the history of the two were from the show TF Prime. They could still keep the part with the whole Optimus being a knight too, somehow... So in short...Megatron really did not start out as a bad guy at all, it was the way in which he reacted to everything that made him turn out a 'bad guy'. She-Venom What if Megatron is a good guy in the movies? Simple answer is right here becuse Optimus accepted become a Prime if he didnt accept Optimus and Megatron wouldnt fight each other and best brothers it was Optimus fault he started the war i think Megatron is a good guy Hoping that you guys liked our collection of the topmost fanfics about the transformers fanfiction crossover flavors that we have published above this. People Love Bumblebee! i love him/her because bumblebee is cool, let me know why do you love Bumblebee and more importantly why do you guys love Transformers fanfiction on Bumblebee. Transformers Fanfiction OC Version  Earning a total amount of $4.3 Billion, transformers became the 13th highest-grossing film series in the world. The Transformers Fanfiction Fans Should be happy to know that the Transformers franchise grossed a total of $1 Billion each from two superhit blockbuster movies. Comment Down the names of those movies if you know them. Jack R I think the first one was more epic just cause the fight scenes were cool and it was the first time we saw something like that. But the writing and characters were absolutely horrific. Bumblebee had much better writing and characters especially the character relationship between Bumblebee and the girl which is much better than the relationship between Sam and bumblebee. Dotm Shockwave Yeah I dont know how he put tlk over revenge and extinction. The last knight is incredibly boring and the only remaining aspect left to enjoy (the action) is incredibly dull in it compared to all the other films. There are no good fight scenes. Which is likely why it bombed so hard Ur mom Gai Ok imo the last knight is my fave AND I ONLY like TF5 is cuz bumblebee new form looks good as hell and Optimus prime vs bumblebee AND there is explosions. EVERYWHERE Boss  I definitely didn't think it was my favorite. It depends on what you are looking for in a movie. If you like character relationships and a girl and her problems trying to find her way, then you'll like it. If you like transformers actions and interactions, you may not like it as much. Even though the Bay movie didn't focus enough on the transformers, this one did even less The Burden of Bordem I'm a decepticon fan and none of the main decepticons were even given a name in the movie. They were just there to be bad. The Burden of Bordem For me I think this film would have worked much better if they just had Starscream as the main villain, and maybe Barricade hunting bumblebee and give them a more personal relation ship as enemies. But like I said, it end up being a movie about a girl and her relation ship with Bumblebee and enemies getting in their way. bandwon he main character is more fleshed out than the others, Bumblebee I guess is as well, but he can't talk so it isn't by much, the story is standard E.T./Iron Giant, the acting is fine, the directing is probably better than the others, the action is good when it happens, but there is far less than the others, and non of the action reached the peak of the Bay movies. and if it wasn't for the fact there were transformers in it I probably wouldn't have really liked it, but it's enough to get you invested and entertained imo. luke jack You really think anyone's gonna take you serious after you typed "Bumble" Haha the 2007 film and DotM were pretty decent films and satisfying in the end. lisa Speaking as a male, it always annoys me, as a child, that certain plot-line of every terribly written sci-fi (mainly Transformers): "main character is a dick=likable guy" "he has 'relatable' problems, that are only explored in the first 15 minutes of the film" "He start having an abusive/creepy relationship (because that's how well written romance works, right...), with the love interest (they barely explore her name)." "1+ hour action scenes" "world is gonna explode (not really)" "Main Character and Love Interest hook up". People always call me "a pussy", because i want equal rights, and then they go make a video about "how everything is now pandering to women, and everything is Woke"... By your perfect logic... most movies are "pandering to males, and straight people only" imo  not like super duper mad, but kinda upset. It was actually kinda funny. But dude, I love what you said about Man of Steel in your DC ranking video. I love that you love Man of Steel. Not many do, and it's seriously awesome! IMO I hope You Guys Like our Collection of the best Transformers fanfiction stories along with transformers fanfiction lemon and transformers fanfiction crossover collection.
