Jasico Bingo Challenge #6!
Prompt: Fake Dating
Jason wished he never agreed to this quest. Nico was starting to too.
When Chiron told them they would need to infiltrate a party to track down a monster, what they didn't have in mind was driving up to some hole in the wall in suits and ties.
Jason looked over at Nico, sitting in the passenger seat and watching as they pulled into the parking lot. He wore a black suit with intricate red embroidery. He didn't put as much effort into his hair as his suit, and it hung down in front of his eyes lazily.
Jason wore his own simple black suit with a light blue button-up beneath. He felt slightly underdressed next to Nico, but what else would you expect from the ghost king?
They approached the dingy club a bit late into the party but decided it was fashionably late and it didn't matter.
What they didn't know when they walked up to the door was this was a couples party only. You had to enter with a romantic partner, or you wouldn't be allowed in.
At the door, the large bouncer looked between the two. He was a little taller than Jason and ridiculously bigger than Nico. Jason wondered how Nico didn't look scared at all of this giant.
"Are you two involved?" the bouncer asked, pulling his stereotypical sunglasses down. Jason tilted his head. "What?" "This is couples night. Are you two together?"
Jason hesitated. 'I wish' he thought to himself. In truth, he'd caught feelings for Nico ever since their Cupid incident.
"Yes," Nico responded confidently, smiling and taking Jason's hand. Jason felt his face flush, but he tried his best to hide it so they could keep the act up.
The bouncer moved aside, letting them pass. As soon as they were out of his sight, Nico released his hand. Jason missed the sensation too much to say.
He looked down at Nico, realizing his face was just as red. It occurred to him that he had never seen Nico flustered like that. It was kind of cute.
They entered the party, bright lights, and a million too-fancy people shoved into a room. They almost split up before remembering that this was for couples, and it would likely break the act if they separated.
Jason leaned down to Nico to whisper to him. "What should we do?" "We should talk to random couples. See if we can find this monster before this goes on any longer." "How much effort are you going to put into selling this?" "Don't get your hopes up, sparky," Nico laughed.
They walked off towards a small group of mismatched couples talking and laughing. Nico analyzed all of them sharply, trying to locate whichever seemed the most suspicious.
His eyes landed on one woman, locking his interest on her. She had animalistic eyes, and the man she was with didn't really seem all there. Almost like he was under a spell.
"How did you two meet?" a kind-looking woman asked the two, snapping Nico out of his thoughts.
Nico smiled and rested his hand on Jason's arm. "Go ahead, tell them, babe." He prodded a shit-eating grin on his face at the annoyance in Jason's eyes. He was hoping Nico would make something up, and not call him babe ever again. It made his heart tighten to hear the sweet nickname leave his mouth without there being any meaning behind it.
"Well," Jason started, deciding making something up would be too difficult and to just tell the truth. The truth Nico didn't know.  "We met in a large group of mutual friends.  I thought he was really brave and kind and I wanted to get closer to him. Of course, he had his walls up, but I cared about him enough to break them down. After that we just...clicked." Jason muttered the last part, as it was the only part untrue. He wished this was real. He wanted it to be real so badly.
Jason looked down to see Nico's face was flushed red, again. He wondered if maybe Nico never knew all that, but needed to.
Jason pushed the thought away, deciding it was all in his head.
While everyone was distracted, talking about how cute the two of them were together and feeding Jason's delusions, their suspect slipped away. Nico quickly asked someone else something that would get a long, wispy answer, and grabbed Jason before slipping away.
Jason watched as Nico weaved the two between crowds, eyes locked on who he was pursuing. Jason also watched as Nico's hand slipped down to his, his wrist not being enough hold to get them through the crowds.
Finally, they cornered the monster in a dead-end hallway.
She turned, letting her true monster form out. An empousa stood in front of them, her dress torn and wings somehow even more battered.
She jumped to fly away, but at the same time, Jason did.
Nico pulled his spare knife to finish her off, but she wriggled out of Jason's grip enough to start to get away, effectively tearing his rental suit.
Nico shadow traveled to cut her off, letting Jason grab her again so her could stab her with his stygian iron knife, deciding the sword would be dangerous with Jason right behind her.
She clawed at him, scratching his neck, but Nico managed to get his knife through her flailing arms, letting her disintegrate into Jason's arms.
Jason sneezed. "Ew, empousa flakes." "Gross, dude," Nico laughed, covered in monster blood.
Jason looked around before spotting an exit door to the balcony blocked off by some boxes and leading Nico over. They couldn't just walk through the front door how they were.
They decided to take a breather to let Chiron know their mission was successful and calm down after the fight.
They sat in silence for a second, before Nico cleared his throat. "What you said in there, was that...fake? I mean, did you mean it?" He asked anxiously. he looked over at Jason's blank face and shook his head before starting to backtrack. "No, no!" Jason interjected, watching surprise light up Nico's face. "I really did mean all that. That's just how I see you, Nico. You are brave...and I care about you."
Nico's face flushed again, but his mouth turned up into a warm smile. He looked away, and briefly afterward, Jason felt Nico's cold hand lay over his own.
"Nico, there's no one else out here. There's no need to-" "I know."
Jason smiled at him, feeling Nico lean his head against his shoulder.
Maybe it was a good thing Jason went on this quest.

Jasico Bingo Challenge: Cuddles
“I wouldn’t call that cuddling,” Nico says, arms crossed defensively over his chest. “I would call it sitting near one another.”
Across the infirmary, awaiting medical attention from the busy Apollo kids, Annabeth rolls her eyes. “He had his arm around you.”
“You put your arm around me all the time,” Nico rebuts.
“You were leaning on him!”
“I was tired!”
Annabeth slumps sideways in her cot and stares at him, unimpressed.
Nico refuses to budge. Cuddling is not resting your head on someone when they offer to let you nap on them! Cuddling is, like, prolonged, sideways hugging, or something. He and Jason do not cuddle, and even if they did (which they do not!) they wouldn’t do it at the campfire, for Hera’s sake.
“Fine,” Annabeth concedes without averting her intimidating gaze. “What about when you two took a nap under Thalia’s Pine? That was definitely cuddling.”
Heat rises up to Nico’s ears. He turns around to face the countertop, littered with empty bandaid packaging and unportioned nectar. “It was not, and you’re weird for remembering that.”
“You’re weird for refusing to admit you like cuddling with Jason,” Annabeth says. She’s long since perfected that I’m right, you’re wrong, shut up tone, the one that makes Nico bristle.
“How does that make me weird?” he grumbles, slicing even squares into the pan of nectar. “I spent the last, like, four years of my life doing everything I could to avoid human contact. How is it weird that I wouldn’t want to admit to something like that.”
For a few moments, Nico almost mistakes Annabeth’s silence for a victory. He finishes with the nectar and turns back around, ready to gloat and everything, and is instead met with the worst possible thing: Annabeth Chase wearing her planning face.
“No,” he says immediately, putting a hand out, as if he can physically ward off whatever bullshit he’s about to get dragged into. “No.”
“I think we need an outside opinion.”
“I think you’re concussed, do not go spreading my personal business to camp!”
“Not camp,” Annabeth flaps her hand at him, and does not refute the concussed accusation. “But definitely some trusted individuals, who have insight into your cuddling habits.”
“I’m not above getting on my knees and begging you to drop this,” Nico says. He’s fully serious. He will do it. Anything to stop this from going any further, anything.
Annabeth glances him up and down, like she’s sizing up how serious he might be.
He clasps his hands together.
She flops back in the cot. “Nope. I’m too invested now. I think I’ll ask Hazel, first-”
“Dude-”
“-and then Connor, he knew you when you were a baby, he’ll have some good insight.”
Nico buries his face in his hands and groans.
Annabeth Chase gets her concussion treated, then turns around and runs back to her cabin to draft an honest to the gods survey to hand out to what she deems as a trusted, reputable group.
Any group with Connor Stoll and Percy Jackson in it is anything but reputable, in Nico’s mind. As soon as he hears that Annabeth’s really gone off the freaking deep end about this, he finds the darkest corner of camp and hunkers down to hide.
The best thing to do when Annabeth’s got an idea? Weather it. She’ll either find her own solution, or she’ll lose interest. Nico hopes, for his reputation's sake, she doesn’t get any further than the distribution.
Upside to this shitshow: Nico has time to clean his cabin, finally. A valid reason to tell Will that he genuinely cannot come do archery practice today, a valid reason to kick any and everyone off his porch, lock his doors, and play CDs on his radio as loud as he can tolerate.
It is, unfortunately, one of his most productive days as of late, and as Nico lays on his newly-swept floor, sweaty but satisfied, he almost forgets the whole situation occurring at the hands of one stubborn daughter of Athena.
Almost.
“Nico?”
Three knocks on the cabin door.
“I can hear your music, I know you’re in there. If you want me to go away, that’s totally fine, I just- y’know, want to make sure you’re okay. I’ll leave you alone in a minute.”
Nico rolls over, squishing his face into the hardwood for one deeply satisfying moment. Then, with all the reluctance of a man who is going to face embarrassment head on, he pulls himself up and trudges to the door.
Jason, at the very least, has the decency to look worried rather than amused. He’s got his hands in the pockets of his shorts, his head tilted off to the side, his glasses off-center like they always are. He’s frowning, kind of. He looks like Mrs. O’Leary when Nico tricks her into thinking he’s got a treat for her.
“I’m alive,” he says, as dry as he can manage. The CD skips.
“That’s good,” Jason says. “I, uh, hear Annabeth’s keeping herself occupied.”
Nico’s temple pulses with something not-quite-achey, but nearly there.
“Just- come in,” he huffs, stepping aside. Dammit. “If anyone’s going to explain it, I would really rather rip the stupid bandaid off.”
“Laughing at me feels kind of insulting, going to be honest,” Nico mutters while Jason hunches over himself, cradling his stomach, downright howling.
“She’s- She’s up in arms- about cuddling!?”
“I don’t know! I don’t know, Percy’s stupid bullshit is rubbing off on her and she’s losing braincells, Jason, she’s losing her mind. We need to find something new for her to build so she stops trying to instigate shit in my private life!”
Jason slumps sideways onto the floor, half-laughing, half-panting. His leg presses solidly to Nico’s like this, sitting side by side against his bed.
Nico turns his head up and away and forces himself not to notice.
“She just cares about you,” Jason says. He stays down. Nico can practically feel how hard Jason’s heart is pumping from all that laughter.
Jerk.
“She cares about drama,” Nico says, though he knows it’s not totally true. Piper has gotten her more involved in the social life of camp, which is a good thing, really. Nico thinks it’s really cool that Annabeth has been able to come out of her own shell, after spending her whole life trying to prove herself, trying to be above everything, better than, the best.
But does she have to do it at his expense?
He rubs his hands over his face and sighs.
Jason sits back up.
“Are you really that upset about this?” he asks, his voice softened into a tone Nico got used to hearing in the days post-Cupid, the tone of a hero. “I know it’s still hard for you, to be comfortable and everything-”
“I’m not upset about it,” Nico says. Admitting it makes his cheeks flush, but it’s the truth, and Jason has more than earned that with him. “I’m just…embarrassed.”
“Awe, why’s it embarrassing? I mean, I get from your perspective, y’know, why you might find that embarrassing, but even if taking naps and stuff is cuddling, it’s not like it’s hurting anything,” Jason says. Then, softer, maybe hesitant, he adds, “right?”
Nico’s heart tugs annoyingly into his ribs. “It’s not hurting anything, Jason, I’m not…I don’t know. I just feel a lot of things, I guess? And it’s a lot of, like, I-I don’t know how to react, when people poke fun at something I’m still- still getting comfortable with. I like being comfortable with you.” He pokes at the rips in his jeans and continues to ignore how much of Jason is pressed up against his side, how natural it feels to just sit with him like this.
“I like that you like being comfortable with me,” Jason says, his own version of teasing, though one that Nico knows and understands and likes. He knows that Jason’s reassuring him by prodding at him like that.
The next track on his CD starts to play—Jason turned the volume down, but didn’t shut it all the way off. They’re both too awkward in pure silence, but sitting together when there’s other background noise that means they don’t necessarily have to talk has become a staple of their hang-outs. There’ve been many an afternoon where Nico sets up on the floor of the Zeus cabin with his new, growing Mythomagic collection, while Jason sketches out temples at his desk.
They’re so comfortable around one another, nowadays.
Nico brings his knees up and nestles his chin on them, frowning at the opposite wall.
Are they maybe too comfortable? If other people are starting to look at them interacting and put weird labels like cuddling on it? Isn’t cuddling something people who like each other do, anyway? Friends don’t cuddle.
Nico feels his ears burn hot at the implication. Is that what Annabeth was trying to say? Does she think Nico likes Jason?
He brings his arms up to cover his mouth. He chews on his lip.
…does, Nico like Jason?
 (to be continued)

directions to the truth
pairing: jason grace/nico di angelo rating: T total word count: 35.7k important tags: canon universe, POV alternating, fluff & angst & humor, hurt/comfort, grief/mourning, nightmares, sword fighting
Three times in three days. This guy is really sticking it to Nico’s trust issues. A small voice in the back of Nico’s head whispers, what does he want with you? People — especially people like Jason — don't just decide you're worth their time. He must want something. Everyone does. Except… The look on Jason’s face when Nico thought he was using him to get Leo back. The genuine distress. The fact that when Jason confronted Nico in Auster’s palace, when Nico pushed, Jason only pushed back, stern and unafraid. Telling him take a risk. No, not telling him; challenging him. • Immediately following the war, Jason and Nico keep choosing each other.
welcome to my post-BoO canonverse exploration of jasico at camp half-blood after the war. it was supposed to be short, and then predictably spiraled way out of control. there are eight chapters, linked below as i update them, which will happen most likely over the next few days. have fun :)
I. NICO // II. JASON // III. NICO // IV. JASON // V. NICO // VI. JASON // VII. NICO // VIII. JASON

Elaborating more on Jason Grace joining the Wayne family (because why not):
The batfam discovering the poor kid has no idea on what family is when Jason, slightly ashamed after a panic attack, asks if he can go to therapy-
Therapist: what do you think of when you hear family?
Jason, confused blond who never had one: loss. abandon. mistake. alcohol. wolf. soldier. army. burden-
(Being raised by wolves an a freakin army camp is what growing up means to him apparently)
Therapist:… what about parents?
Jason: disappointment. absent. broken promise-
Therapist: love?
Jason, bitterly remember Cupid: cruel.
The batfam: holy schist he is traumatized as hell
The family afterwards: let’s play a game!
Jason, almost saying: okay, but no maiming or killing
Then afterwards when he finds out their identités he tries to remember saying it every time the boys fall into chaos (it still ended up how they normally did)
Ironic how the two Jasons are completely unlike, Jason Todd just being Jason Todd, while Jason Grace learning how to be Jason Grace while still having those ‘I spent 13 years in the army’ traits
Jason Grace having similar backstories with Bruce Wayne (cue loss of parents, taking justice…)
Nico coming to visit because jasico has to happen somehow. Bruce realizing both of them (Jason Grace, Nico) giving off ‘plz adopt me’ vibes
Jason’s room looks exactly how his old bunk looked in CJ. orderly. tidy. the boy was trained to do this. OCD, apparently.
Jason’s death counts as retiring from the Pontifex role, but he’s still drawing shrines because no one deserves to be forgotten
(him thinking about Nico when he had this thought, not realizing it could apply to him too. did anyone reach out to him when Piper had broken up with him and he was alone? Mellie, thinking Jason has did it to Piper, hated him)
Jason learns to cook with Alfred. Because I have this image of Jason with an apron just casually holding a pan looking like a mom (because he is one) and because he wants bonding time
Jason+Dick= ultimate mom force
Tim teaching jason about computers. The blond boy going ????
Damian dueling Jason continuously. Jason being this big blocky blond has to be a challenge
Jason Todd thinking Jason Grace was his replacent at first, and furious. until Jason Grace points out they literally only have three two things alike: they’re orphans named Jason, and they both died
When Thalia visits the family goes: u sure ur related??
Naturally ALL of them tease him about his crush on Nico (another BFFs thinking their crushes on each other are unrequited thing)
Jason being all polite in the family at first, unsure how to approach this topic of home. the family finds him suspicious sometimes, but does their best to welcome him. when his secret comes out the family sets down all their remaining doubt and welcomes him, (“it’s okay.”) and Jason looking so lost and hopeful. then Bruce says he’ll always have a home with them and that’s when a tear slides, slowly, down Jason’s face. He has a place he can call home
and yes, Jason can be calm. He can be caring and stern. He has breakdowns and moments where he’s the strong one helping everyone. He’s human after all. But nothing beats the moment when Jason is truly pissed…

In the end it is not Hera who has the answers. Well, not exactly. She has them but she doesn't want to give them to him. The memories of Jason are as clear as water but a part of her remains hidden. The part that belongs to Nico.
Jason is frustrated. His friends see his frustration.
Piper sees his frustration.
Nico sees his frustration
Nobody can do anything.
Until one day, NIco confesses that he has been having visions with Cupid. Making fun of Nico. Making fun of Jason.
For not knowing the truth.
For not remembering the truth.
So one night, Jason escapes from the CHB and heads where the wind takes him.
Where the heart takes him.
There, in a meadow is Cupid. He shows him a golden arrow and speaks. His voice seems to come from everywhere and nowhere. Of the wind and his heart.
"Do you really want to know the truth, Jason Grace?"
Jason nods and Cupid, seeing a worried Nico at the blonde's sword, said, again, his voice this time coming from the shadows.
"Be careful, Jason Grace. Love has consequences."
Jason followed Cupid's gaze and saw Nico. For a moment his heart skipped a beat but then it started pumping again, faster now. He knew what he had to do, he knew it was the right thing.
-Do it
Cupid shot

Jasico Bingo Challenge #3
Prompt: Secret Relationship
Conner, Clovis, Nico, and Jason all sat at the Hade's table, talking absently over their breakfasts. Clovis being the exception, as he was passed out asleep next to Nico. Jason sat across from the son of Hades, and next to him Conner.
They were an odd group of people, all left alone at camp together for the summer. Conner, alone with Travis attending New Rome, usually sat at the Hades table anyways. The Hermes cabin was always far too crowded.
"Nico," Connor started, picking at his oatmeal like it was prison food, "you have a crush on anyone right now?"
Nico furrowed his eyebrows. "...no?"
Conner nodded. "Listen, man, I think you need to start dating."
"No thanks."
Jason chuckled. Nico kicked him under the table.
"Why not? I'm sure you have guys falling at your feet," Conner prodded, laughing.
"Yeah Neeks," Jason laughed too, but a little harder. "Why not?"
Nico kicked him slightly harder.
"I could set you up with someone," Conner offered, waving his spoon around.
"No thanks," Nico said slightly faster.
"You sure? I know some people who would be interested."
"Very sure. Thanks for the offer."
Jason was laughing so hard Nico felt the urge to kick him again, but decided against it. He'd let him have his fun for now.
Conner decided to drop the topic for the rest of breakfast. But it put no end to Jason's amusement.
After what felt like an eternity for Nico, breakfast ended and the table dispersed to their own cabins, shaking Clovis awake.
Nico got a few moments of peace in his cabin before the door was practically busted in by Jason.
Jason still had a smile plastered on his face. Nico rolled his eyes, but he smiled too. Nico opened his arms, waiting for Jason to come lay with him.
"Why aren't you dating anyone, Neeks?" Jason quoted, laughing hysterically.
"Shut up," Nico laughed.
Jason pulled Nico into his arms, kissing him with a smile. Nico wrapped his arms around Jason's neck, kissing him a little deeper to make up for their lost time earlier. Jasons hands rubbed circles on Nico's back.
"I knew it!" A voice yelled from the doorway.
Nico practically jumped out of his skin, turning his head to see none other than Conner, phone in hand and pointing at Nico and Jason on the bed.
"Damn it," Nico laughed, getting up with Jason and proceeding to chase Conner around camp for his phone for an hour.

Day one | prompt : hanahaki disease | warning this is as canon compliant as I’ll ever write(in other words Jason dies)
@jasico-challenges
This Bloody Love
When Jason coughs his first petal he doesn't curse Persephone. He doesn't even curse Eros, despite the fact that he would and has cursed the god over the minorist inconvenience. This time it's different, he looks at the bloody petal resting deceptively on his palm and sighs. How could he ever curse a manifestation of his love?
Jason's not particularly surprised. He'd been having coughing fits for months and they only got worse when he was around Nico. It was bound to happen. Eros had always been too invested in Nico and in a way so had Persephone. In a sick way he's glad for it all. A physical manifestation of his love. Proof of his devotion to the boy. He knows Nico wont see it that way. Most people don't. Most people think of the blooms as a disease, the Aphrodite cabin thinks of them as a gift and Jason’s inclined to agree.
Jason used to think loving Nico was as easy as breathing, at least now he can say without a shadow of doubt that it's much, much easier. He hadn't planned on falling in love with Nico, had never really considered falling in love with any one. He was just another cog in the machine, honestly the both of them were- expendable, until suddenly he wasn't. It'd started with meeting Cupid, watching as the boy stood firm, gritting teeth and eyes ablaze and being forced to divulge his most vulnerable secret to a boy who'd been willing to leave him for dead and a god who would love to see his love be the death of him. After that it was impossible to keep himself from falling for Nico.
It was probably a good thing Hades cared for Nico, that Persephone was somewhat fond of him. Without that modicum of protection Jason isn't naive enough to believe Nico wouldn't be in this position now instead. Persephone and Cupid have been planting their blooms in hopeless fools since as long as tragic romance has existed. It's a collaborative effort that Jason can almost appreciate if it weren’t for the way it left an innumerable amount of demigods dead in a blaze of bloody petals.
The weather has already begun to chill and Jason snorts to himself. Winter will come soon and the flowers in his lungs will bloom in full. Fed by his love, this unrequited thing curled inside his chest.
He has a couple of months still until that time comes. He knows how the stories go. He finds Cupid and allows the god to keep his love for himself, or he dies a cold death once winter arrives. Terrible options but then the last one is even worse. Tell Nico how he feels and hope he could fall in love with him as well. Not likely. He'd never put something like this on Nico's shoulders.
Not when Nico already carries too many problems, when he's trying so desperately to move on from his crush on Percy, no Jason could never do that to him.
When Jason dies for Apollo, he’s glad for the fact, let Nico think him a hero rather than another soul he couldn’t save.
Tumblr media
Stole the idea of hanahaki disease being a pet project of Persephone and Cupid from a percico fic I never wrote, but basically every now and then Eros and Persephone will find interest in someones love, Persephone will plant the blooms in their lungs and they have 6 months to deal with that love however they please, whether that be forfeiting it to eros or confessing lest they join Persephone in the underworld once her time topside is up. Also I hope everything is tagged correctly I’m working on like 3 separate fics rn trying to catch up after a pretty shitty first part of the month so I’m all frazzle brained :/

Rating pjo ships because I've seen a good amount of people doing it lately and it seems fun. But there's a twist!! I used the wackiest rating system imaginable because I'm insane. Have fun.
Percabeth: a hundred hearts out of five blue cookies.
Their dynamic is not only incredibly fun but also they complement each other very well. Honestly, when I first read the books, I didn't really want them to get together because I didn't want another "main guy gets main girl" situation, but they're honestly made for each other.
Jiper: five daggers out of ten great canyons
They were incredibly forced, but honestly not that bad of a ship. They were really cute but I dont have much to say about it.
Valgrace: fifty festus heads out of ten college aus
One of my favorite Jason ships ever. I love me some tragic gays.
Pipabeth: 15/10(couldn't find a whacky rating system for them)
I will ALWAYS support a good wlw ship. And Piper defo had a microcrush on Annabeth while they were on the Argo II. Plus the fanart of them is SO good.
Jercy/Person: twelve riptides out of ten horses
I like reading about it and it's quite fun to think about. Nothing much to say honestly.
Perachel: Ten oracle's out of nine pancakes drowned in syrup
They could have been cute. I dont really ship them but the dynamic could've been fun to see.
Annrachel(is that the name?): three prophecies out of five spiders
Korrasami vibes lmao. I think they're better off as friends but I will read a fanfic if I find an interesting one.
Solangelo: fifty skulls out of ten doctors notes
They were written for each other. As in Rick made sure that they were written for each other. I havent read tsats yet and im still on the first toa book so I don't have much on their dynamic. Still I like their dynamic and they visually look good together.
Valdangelo: ninety-four automatons out of six pomegranate seeds
They would have been unstoppable I tell you! Unstoppable!! Or maybe I'm biased. Either way they would have been an amazing couple together but Rick was too much of a coward to let them be (boy)friends.
Jeyna: 8/10
Now I dont have any strong opinions about this ship. But I will consume almost every ship from a fandom as long as its not a proship or something like that so I like them.
Jasico: 3/10
Personally I've never seen the hype for them. I like their dynamic a lot but not really in a shipping way. Sorry pjotumblr😔
Pernico: -3/four age gaps
The angst of Nico having a crush in Percy is a good comcept to explore. Both in relationships with other characters and Nicos character development. But them being in a relationshio together just irks me. Its not entirely problematic(at least i dont think it is) but still the age gap makes me umcomfortable.
Ruegard: thirty-seven drakons out of one patrochilles parallel
Like I said, I love me some wlw ships. And while I've never really been a diehard fan of them, the fanart is amazing, so of course i ship them.
Frazel: 6/10
Rick try to make a girl and a boy stay friends challenge(impossible). But jokes aside, the 13-16 gap makes annoyed. Three years isn't much but it matters in this situation. And it annoys me bacuse I want to like them. They have a cute dynamic but the maturity gap between them kinda gets in the way. That said, I would probably have liked them a lot better if they just stayed friends.
Valzhang: Nine eagles out of twenty bufords
Like I said before, I will consume almost every ship in a fandom. And if I find good fanfics of them, I will read it because I like exploring different characters' dynamics with each other. It's fun and I honestly think the pjo fandom should chill out a little. The amount of people who put others down for shipping something that isn't canon is way too much. Just let people enjoy their ships.
I think that's all? I didn't include Grover and Juniper because I honestly don't really have any opinions on them. They just exist and it's kinda like Rick just made them canon because he didn't want grover to feel left out.

Jasico Bingo Challenge: sharing a bed
It took all of ten minutes for Jason to cave and climb into Nico’s too-big bed. His weight dips the mattress to one side, and as he slides under the blankets, Nico gets hit with his fan’s frigid breeze.
“Told you,” he mutters, flipping over onto his left side. He sticks his hand under his pillow.
Jason makes a face, wrinkling his nose and giving Nico a sort of side-glare, before he settles fully down, hugging Nico’s spare pillow. “I don’t like disobeying Miss Sally.”
Two months ago, Nico would’ve been right there with him. He’s lived under her roof long enough to know which rules they can nudge, though. “Percy constantly lets Grover share his bed.”
“Percy and Grover are different,” Jason says, his voice just a shade above a whisper. “You know it’s different.”
Nico shrugs. “Sally doesn’t know that.”
Jason looks far less amused than he should. “I’m serious,” he says.
This is what Nico gets for dating a serial rule-follower, he supposes. Rules are rigid and unbending, in Jason’s mind, no matter how insignificant. He approaches “entrance” and “exit” signs like he’ll get arrested for mixing them up.
It’s something they’re working on, together. It’s something Nico can help with. It’s always tricky, with Jason, working around the thorny patches of his logic, but Nico knows firsthand that once Jason can tame that anxiety, he’ll feel so much better.
Nico is also aware it took him almost half a year to even start changing his own habits regarding rules, or moreso his perception of them, and that was only after a few years of built up trauma around it. Jason has his whole life to unwind.
But, there is still progress, which Nico makes sure Jason knows he’s proud of. It’s easy to start with things Jason wants that he sees as outside the rule-boundary, things like sneaking dessert out of the pavilion at camp so they can eat it somewhere peaceful, or sharing Nico’s oversized princess bed so he doesn’t have to sleep on the floor.
Sometimes it feels a little bit like treat-training a dog. Nico did something similar with Mrs. O’Leary and Cerberus, after all. It’s a guilty thought to have. Jason isn’t a dog, and Nico isn’t his owner, isn’t trying to train him. He’s just…he wants Jason to feel free. He hates when Jason mentally butts up against one of the walls of his cage and physically recoils from something that would make him feel better. Make him feel good, and human, and normal.
“I want you up here,” Nico says. He matches the gravity of Jason’s tone, watches Jason’s eyes dart around, lit by the dimmed string of star-shaped lights over the bed. Nico reaches out, slowly, and pokes Jason’s wrist. “I know I’ll sleep better if you’re here.”
Jason swallows. He shifts his weight on the mattress, his foot kicking out just barely into Nico’s space. “What if Miss Sally comes to check on us, and she sees-? Will she get mad?”
“Maybe.” He wants to temper Jason’s fears, not lie to them. He hasn’t seen Sally get mad at anything other than when the dogs chew on shoes, or when he and Percy fight too loud in the backyard. This, something easy enough to explain, he doesn’t think she’d mind. “But she would never punish me, or you, over it. Over anything. The worst she’d do is give us a stern talking to, and maybe make us sleep on the couch next time.”
“The couch is an option?”
Ugh, no, the couch is not an option. Nico taps his fingers against Jason’s wrist bone and wrinkles up his nose, tucking himself up more in his comfortable blankets and pillows.
Jason, finally, breaks into a little smile. “You’re spoiled now.”
“Hush. I’m allowed to like having a bed, and I’m allowed to want to share it with my b..with my boyfriend.”
The room hushes over, the sound of the fan hiding how hard Nico’s heart thumps.
It’s still new, that part of this. It’s still hard to say it out loud. Pushing out of his comfort zone is something Nico is working on himself, though.
Jason beams. He’s probably blushing, though it’s too dark to see and Nico’s half buried his face in the pillow to hide his own face.
“Shut up,” he grumbles.
Jason turns his hand around and laces their fingers together. He finally lets go of the tension in his arms, lets himself sink into the bed. Nico feels how the blanket moves with it.
“You’ve convinced me,” Jason whispers. “But if we do get caught, you’re doing the talking.”
“Deal,” Nico says, and squeezes Jason’s hand. He peeks, just to see another glimpse of that smile. He likes Jason’s smile. It doesn’t even ache to admit it anymore. “Go to sleep, now.”
“Can do.”
(Sally pokes her head in at eight AM, after Nico and Jason miss breakfast. She blinks, at first confused to see the empty pallet at Nico’s bedside, then understanding when she sees the bed itself.
Jason is fast asleep at the edge of the bed, peaceful and relaxed, hugging a pillow to his chest, the blankets tangled around him. Just over the slope of his shoulder, she sees Nico’s curly head of hair nestled close.
She’s careful not to let the door squeak as she leaves them in peace.)

like a burst of technicolor in a world of black and white
for the prompt "painting nails" on my @jasico-challenges bingo card. guys i am really having fun with this bingo thing have yall heard about this. this shit rules anyway imagine an AU where trials of apollo is a collective hallucination we all experienced and then decided never to speak of again. and instead jason stayed at CHB after the showdown w gaea. okay you are now prepared for the events of this fic xoxo
title from extraordinary magic by ben rector :) read here on ao3
“How come you didn't go to school?”
Fair question, but pretty random.
They're spread out on the floor of Cabin One. When Nico marched in armed with a bottle of nail polish the color of a cloudless sky and insisted on painting Jason's nails, Jason tossed his sketchbook aside. Any activity with Nico is better than drawing shrines alone.
Nico got to work and they descended into easy silence. Jason figured that was for Nico's focus, so he didn't break it, just allowed his mind to wander aimlessly.
When he tunes back in at Nico's inquiry, he sees two nails painted — left index and middle, coated in light blue. Jason has never had his nails painted. He doesn't know if it's always this soothing, but if it is, he can understand why so many people do it.
“You mean instead of staying at camp year-round?”
Nico nods and takes the brush to Jason's next finger. His face of concentration is extremely cute: narrowed eyes, teeth digging into his lower lip, one rebellious strand of dark hair he keeps blowing out of his face only for it to fall right back in his eyes.
“You could have,” he says. “You’d only have two years before graduation. Could get a diploma.”
Jason shrugs. “Yeah, but why would I? It’s not like I was getting a formal education before. Praetor was a year-round job.”
Nico hums. He's really very good at this. If the demigod thing doesn't pan out, he has a future as a manicurist.
“Plus,” Jason adds gamely, “I don't exactly have a parent or guardian to enroll me anywhere.”
“I'm sure Chiron would be more than happy to falsify some legal documents.”
Jason chuckles. “You think so?”
“Are you kidding?” Nico snorts. “Percy told me Chiron posed as his Latin teacher for a full year when he was younger. He would love to invent a transcript for you.”
Jason gives this a dismissive laugh so they can put the topic to rest. He thought about trying to go to school, for sure. He spent about six minutes seriously considering it. I could have some normalcy, he'd mused. Be a high school kid. Sure, I don't have any surviving mortal parents, or anywhere to live during the school year, or any money, or any previous course credits, or any documents to prove I'm a real person, but. Those are solvable problems.
Then he’d thought, Or I could stay at camp, and the decision made itself.
Maybe it's bleak to say, but there's nothing for him out there. In the real world. He has no memory of being a baby living with Thalia and his mother, and after that, his whole life was the legion. Training with Lupa was the closest thing Jason had to elementary school. Everything that matters to him — his friends, his family, his sworn duty to the minor gods — starts and ends in camp. His youth is tattooed with the brand of Camp Jupiter. His freedom is a leather necklace tied by Camp Half-Blood.
Why leave?
“I'm good here,” is all he says.
Nico isn't ready to drop it. “But then why stay here? You didn't want to go back to Camp Jupiter?”
Jason raises both eyebrows. “Did you want me to?”
“No!” Nico scowls. “I'm just curious.”
Methodical brush strokes turn Jason's fourth fingernail blue. It's a pretty color; Jason wonders what inspired Nico to choose it. It's probably not Nico's first time painting someone's nails, because he's very skillfully managing not to get any polish on Jason's skin. He has good hands for the job — thin and precise. Careful. Deliberate.
“The plan was really to split my time,” Jason says, just as careful, just as deliberate. “I was already at Camp Half-Blood, so I figured I'd spend a little while here, then a while at Camp Jupiter, and, you know, so on.”
“But…it's been two months,” Nico says.
The unspoken question: why haven't you gone back yet?
“Well, yeah,” Jason says. His own stillness is becoming uncomfortable. If he moves, he risks ruining Nico's artwork, but sitting this stationary isn't in his nature. Like most demigods, he has a compulsion to fidget. It's less noticeable in him — less than, say, Leo — but in moments of extreme stagnancy, it doubles down.
“Are you planning to go back at all?”
It's not an interrogation. At least, Jason doesn't think so. It's not small talk, either. Nico is his friend. This is a friendly conversation. There are no wrong answers here.
“Eventually,” Jason says. “To visit. But…to stay?” He shakes his head. “I don't think so.”
“All your friends are there,” Nico says, and he's still looking down, focused on his task, like this statement is a reflex, requiring no thought.
“Not all,” Jason says, watching him. “You're here.”
That gets Nico’s attention. He looks up. “Me?”
“You're my friend,” Jason says.
“Don't tell me you stayed here just for me.” It comes out like a bad joke. Like it couldn't possibly be true.
“Well…” Jason pauses. “I don't know if that's the only reason, but it definitely helped.”
“What? Are you joking?”
“Why would I be joking?”
“Because that's—” Nico stops halfway through painting Jason’s little finger. He gestures like words aren't enough. “That's crazy!”
“You just said I should go to Camp Jupiter because my friends are there,” Jason says, puzzled. “Why is it crazy to stay at Camp Half-Blood for the same reason?”
“I’m one person. Friend, singular. Meanwhile your entire cohort of friends is over in California.”
“Yeah, but…” Jason gnaws his cheek. He has this suspicion Nico won't like any of his answers, then decides he doesn't care. “They don't need me over there. I gave my praetorship to Frank, so I'm officially released from leadership duty, and I don't regret it for a second. It makes no difference to the legion if I'm there or not, except as this— I don't know, symbol of greatness that I…really am not.” He grimaces, examining his semi-painted pinky nail, this half-finished, imperfect thing. “Here, I feel like…maybe it matters if I'm here or not. And not because of who my dad is or my rank or anything, just because…well, we're friends.”
Nico stares. Then he lifts Jason's hand and starts painting again, picking up where he left off. With his gaze trained downward, away from Jason's, he says, “It does matter. To me.”
Jason smiles. He gets the same feeling as stepping outside in the morning into perfect weather — pleasantly, comfortably surprised.
“There you go, then,” he says. “I mean, if you want me to leave—”
“No,” Nico says quickly, then glares as if he's mad about being tricked into admitting he wants Jason to stay. Recovering, he snarks, “If you leave, I won’t have anyone to subject to my nail-polish schemes.”
“I bet Will would let you paint his nails.”
“Will wouldn't let me anywhere near him with any kind of artistic implement, as well he shouldn’t. I would absolutely deface him.”
“Honored that you've elected not to deface me.”
Nico turns a rosy shade of pink. “This time.”
This is that other kind of Nico threat, the kind reserved for friends. For Jason. The kind that, underneath, isn't a threat at all, but a promise.
This time means there will be a next time. That's Jason's favorite kind of threat.
“You're weirdly good at this,” Jason says. Nico has finished his left hand by now and moved on to the right. “Since when is this in your skill set?”
“Bianca,” Nico says. Matter-of-fact, without room to grieve. “A couple nights when we were in the Lotus Hotel, she asked me to paint hers. First time I tried, it was such a mess. She did mine to show me how, so I could learn.”
Jason catches his breath. “Clearly it paid off, ‘cause you're killing it.”
This was something Nico did with Bianca. And now he's sharing it with Jason. That gives Jason a feeling in his gut that's both warm and heavy, like a big dog is curled up in there, taking a sunbeam nap.
“You'll have to do mine after,” Nico says, still no-nonsense. “Black, obviously.”
“I don't have any nail polish.”
“I brought some. Lacy gave it to me. From Cabin Ten. Magical, so it doesn't smudge or chip.”
“I didn't even realize nail polish did that.”
“You have a lot to learn.” Nico nods sagely. “That's okay. Everyone starts somewhere.”
“It is very relaxing. I can see the appeal,” Jason admits. He wiggles the fingers of his finished hand, admiring them. “How’d you land on this color, though? Or was it just a random pick?”
Nico looks strangely at Jason. Some of that blush from earlier returns. “You're…the son of the sky god.”
Jason studies the color. It's not quite sky blue, but close enough. “Huh,” he says, feeling silly for not having made the connection. “I suppose that makes sense.”
“Besides,” Nico says, a little quieter like it's not exactly for Jason to hear, but not not for him to hear, either, “it's the color of your eyes.”
That sleeping dog behind Jason's navel starts thumping its tail.
“Oh,” Jason says. He's not sure he could confirm that, but Nico sounds utterly certain. The fact that Nico has spent enough time looking at Jason's eyes that he can pinpoint their exact shade is its own can of worms. For future opening. At a later date. “Well, I like it. It's pretty.”
“Yeah,” Nico says, and his fingers press gently into Jason's palm as he continues to paint. “It is.”
