At this point, WWX has cut himself off from the force after going darkside during the war. WWX is with the Wens in the burial mounds, a force null part of the planet Yilling, which helps in disguising whats left of WWX’s force signature, as well as Wen Qing’s and A-Yuan’s signatures since they are both force sensitive.

Wen Qing uses her force sensitivity to force heal people, which is a very rare technique and nearly impossible for many people as they didn’t learn to control their power enough to not take from their life force as they heal someone else. A-Yuan is young enough to begin learning to be a Jedi if he wishes, but he doesn’t have much power since he was never trained.

LWJ is looking for WWX, but according to his sect he is looking for and eliminating any Wen Empire military remnants, as well as helping the victims of the war find the nearest relief efforts. He isn’t supposed to take his helmet off but Wei Ying always makes him want to break the rules whether or not if he’s nearby

I despise the fact that in a star wars au, wwx would be the greatest jedi ever because his emotional control is on point. the man only truly broke when he was entirely alone and all that he knew seemed to have fallen apart at his hands. jedi have fallen for less. and he sort of pops up from that with trauma and a smile.

And the first one since Wei Wuxian officially started teaching the Lan clan’s novices. In an effort to encourage inter-sect alliances and friendships among even the youngest disciples,a series of friendly skill demonstrations and competitions are held, with events for all ages to participate in. To the surprise of literally no one, the Jin sect children seem to come out of the womb puffed up on pride and thinking they’re at least a little bit better than everyone. Their novice disciples are no exception. The Jin novices’ first mistake was underestimating the Lan class because most of them are a few years younger than them. Their worst mistake was making disparaging remarks about their beloved Master Wei where Lan Xin could hear them.

Modern Cultivation AU. Wei Ying gets tossed out of the Jiang sect after a night hunt goes bad. Cue Yu Ziyuan's terrible decisions. He lands with the Wen who of course are like ... No wait. Shit. He's a fucking genius!!

It's still in the ramp up but it has so much potential and I love a Meet Ugly. This has some top quality high grade LWJ sass, and classic WY and his absolute inability to see his own value.

The modern AU translation feels very plausible as well. Of course there'd be social channels dedicated to the wild stuff cultivators can do.

Anyway. Highly recommend! [I second this rec! It's a 💙 ~Mod Kay.]

Summary: A night-hunt goes wrong, and Wei Wuxian is scapegoated for the death of the Jiang Sect Leader and the destroyed core of the Jiang Sect Heir. As punishment, his core is taken and given to Jiang Cheng, and he is stripped of his cultivation credentials and expelled from the sect. What everyone forgot was that Wei Wuxian was wearing the standard issue body camera that each cultivator wore on training missions and high-risk night-hunts. Struggling to make ends meet, Wei Wuxian finds his way to Caiyi Town with the doctor who performed the surgery, a partial core still secretly in place. His application to work at Cloud Recesses is summarily rejected by the hard-edged Second Jade of Lan after an unfortunate initial encounter. But things change when someone hacks into the Jiang systems and releases the footage of what happened. [First part of the title is a quote from Shakespeare, but this story is not based on that one!]

Writing this fic got me through my dad's illness and then his death, so it will always hold a special place in my heart

Fun fact, originally, I was going to make this a chaptered fic where WWX and LWJ both worked at Medieval Times, but scrapped that for a one-shot instead. omg so sw is my other obsession besides mdzs, so i have Opinions on the whole "who in wangxian would go dark side" question, and i'm sorry if you are sick of hearing about this but i have nowhere else to scream. so basically, in my view, wwx is the more likely of the two to use dark-side techniques, because lwj would obviously not be that motivated to even look past the orthodox path. but the problem with these discussions is that there's always a light side = good, dark side = bad mentality that sw itself doesn't seem to share. like it LOOKS blacknwhite on the surface, but it's actually not!! the pure, light side jedi are just as incorrect in their usage of the force as the pure, dark side sith are! i think wwx would see this, and he would start incorporating techniques from both the light side and the dark side into his use of the force and of course end up maligned by the orthodox (jedi) followers of the force. but the force can do So Much, and wwx is such an intelligient guy as well as an inventor, i can't logically see him not looking into the immense possibilities of the force without pulling from both sides

Oh no anon, rant away! While I never watched any Star Wars movie and don’t plan to after how Disney and fans treated John Boyega, I will say that I’ve watched Quinton Reviews tackle the movies’ themes of fascism and complacency. (If you haven’t seen them, they’re really great and not his 5+ hour long videos, if that’s not your thing lol) So going purely off of his analysis, I would agree that neither side is purely good/correct or evil/bad; they just each have the potential to be depending on the material circumstances that they derive their authority from.

So adding that to mdzs: Wei Wuxian isn’t “tempted” into the unorthodox path because he was swayed by power; the only reason why he went that route is because he was in a life-or-death situation. However, his theoretical path was first brought up to challenge Lan Qiren on his high horse so that he could get out of class where he was being unfairly picked on. In a Star Wars au, I think that a Jedi!wwx would still bring up the dark side as a means to challenge the “accepted canon” of the force, but he probably still wouldn’t use it unless forced to. Not sure if there could really be a sw-equivalent situation that would force wwx to go to the “dark side” for his own safety… And we’d also have to accept that the rest of the cultivation world would be considered Jedis, the Jin would be knowingly working with Sith in full public view, and the rest of the Jedi would do nothing about it because it maintains a status quo.

Anyways, seriously, go watch Quinton Reviews if you haven’t, particularly his analyses of the prequel films.

Star Wars AU - Pt. 1

Well my friends, the people have spoken!

I now have enough spoons to think about something.

So. Let's get out of the way some things.

Wen Ruohan, Wen Chao, Wen Xu and their goons are Sith

Jin Guangshan is viscid enough to be the equivalent of Chancellor Palpatine

The Nie are Mandalorian.

I still don't know where to place the Lan clan, suggestions welcome.

I am fully aware that everyone probably expects WWX/LWJ/JC to be somewhat like Obi Wan and Anakin, BUT that is NOT how things are going to be in my AU - also, there are plenty of those takes and I appreciate them all, but here things are going to go differently.

I will be modifying stuff to fit into a decent plot

This is all fanmade, also I am still learning all of the lore, so don't @ me thanks

So, WRH sends WZL to maul all remaining Jedis during the Fall of the Jedis. WWX is probably the only one managing to run away, somehow hides in a ship going to adestination as far away as possible from the Jedi and gets found by JFM, imperial senator, who is not immeditely aware that WWX is a Jedi.

JFM basically thinks, "Oh, lost kid, starved, wounded, no parents. Yeah, let's bring him home".

WWX is absolutely terrified of Droids and it just so happens that JC, JFM's son, has three Droids called Love, Princess and Jasmine. JFM deactivates them, sends them to be sold for parts and let's just say that it's going to be on JYL, JC's older sister, to flatten down the disagreements.

Once WWX feels a bit more comfortable, he starts doing his Jedi things for JC and JYL and when both JFM and YZY, JFM's wife, spot that, they react in a suboptimal way.

JFM: Oh, look,I now have a Jedi son, this is great, who cares if anyone discovers that.

YZY: YOU FOOL, YOU ABSOLUTE FUCKING IMBECILE, YOU HAVE A SON ALREADY, WWX IS A NOBODY FROM AN ORDER THAT DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE AND IF THIS IS DISCOVERED WE ARE IN DANGER!

YZY to JC: YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO BE BETTER THAN ANYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE!

YZY to WWX: YOU ARE NOTING BUT A LEFTOVER OF A PAST THAT DOESN'T EXIST, DON'T GET TOO HIGH ON THAT HORSE!

Once again the actual parent figure is JYL, who gets bethroted to JZX, JGS's son, by YZY because now that a JEDI is in the Jiang jurisdiction, she wants to have some sort of security/safety in case the Empire ruled by Sith Lord WRH decides to kill them.

- Ah yes I two randomly attack my beloveded with a sword, WHEN HE ONLY HAS A FLUTE.

- What are you really thankfully for WWX.

- A promise you'll keep all of 2 minutes

- Fun late night rooftop chats. (Does this count as a date?)

-The costumes of the extras really aren't great.

-Well there is the reason you learnt to ride a horse to flirt (Does this also count as a date, or just travelling?)

- The one woman must be in the only carriage. (Though she does deserve it. Emotional carrying everyone)

- A battle with NO blood. And instead of the flexible swords that you usually see, you get terribly balanced ones.

-I got my answer for the above point, can't jump on them otherwise if they aren't terribly balanced (otherwise you could just stand on them right peacock?)

-The yin iron keeps changing how it works.

-He was on the others side just a minute ago, okay well more like 2 episodes ago. (In relation to JGY)

-Oh he's got one each colour.

-Oh the kids are dead (Why were there kids on the battlefield?)

-He got a point.

-MAP! (Map song from Dora the Explorer)

-This war is way less brutal than the book.

-He can withstand the glowing Yin Iron blast (NMJ).

-It is him (In response to NMJ about JGY)

-I now know don't question the kids on the battlefield field. They let some guy with a flute on. Next it will JYL.

-Saving the damsel in distress cause he brought a flute to a sword fight.

-Now it's fireballs? That explodes people into ashes?

-Stop pretending to follow your promise WWX. You are currently a liability.

-I suppose being basically defenceless on a battlefield is another date?

-Toot toot demon flute time (finally).

- Now it's black smoke?

-He isn't actually playing the flute his fingers aren't moving in time.

-This promise lasted longer than expected (most of the episode or one in a half battles). You shouldn't look that disappointed in him LWJ. He only has his flute with him what did you expect?

-So he's a glitch? (WRH)

-Or a jedi? (WRH)

-And we all fall down.

-He looks half dead. Good you caught him.

-Oh it's him again. I think this is his triple cross.

-Wow the Sunshot Campaign lasted a whole hour. And was like two on-screen battles.

-Give me my sword.

-Always the peacekeeper (LXC).

-He PLOTTED. (NMJ will remember that. LXC will not.)

-The music is good though.

-Okay so this when their relationship is "bad" and yet they have late night chats, ride together, LWJ protected WWX. WWX kept his promise for most of the Sunshot Campaign. And LWJ is the 2nd person he asks about when he wakes up. And LWJ plays music for him. Yet they keep fighting (I think they're confused).

-She can tell that you like eachother even though you can't.

-Wang Yibo is a really good actor, just the right amount of expression and doesn't have dialogue to back him up.

-Relaxation music WWX is now familiar with it. (Remember that for later.) Also another date.

-He is back (JGY).

-Now there's blood, none during the battles but loads after. (I'm angry)

-And now they are fighting again. I don't think this is a date.

TLDR: two battles and a few dates and 1 episode and then the Sunshot Campaign is over. Sunshot more like Sunshort.

So I was thinking about Star Wars and The Untamed---as you do---and not to be like, “hot take,” but regardless of who went dark side in canon, Wei Wuxian would actually make a much, much better Jedi than Lan Wangji would.

sw anon 2: electric boogaloo! No, I totally agree with everything you said. Tbh, I think a two-pronged view of the force as is canon in the prequels of sw wouldn't translate SUPER well into mdzs. So it would probably be less Jedi Versus Sith and more Orthodox Light Side Use Of Several Different Types Versus...well, no one. The imagined enemy of the Dark Side which doesn't currently exist because the Sith are largely extinct. WWX would have to come in and create a more grey path that others could then take and twist to their own usages (like the Jins, Xue Yang). There could certainly be something shady going on with the Nies to serve as the narrative equivalent of the saber halls. I think you could still make it sect based to retain some of the MDZS flavor, and you could probably even keep the reincarnation aspect. I know when I wrote sw fic, I brought people back to life via Force magic all the time lol. I've seen Quentin Reviews video for sure.
