once more thinking about mungo being deme’s lil guy and then by extension becoming munk’s lil guy in a way even though they don’t feel romantically for each other

how munk can always count on mungo to cheer deme up or keep her company when he can’t, how mungo can count on deme to vouch for him in any and every situation and make him feel loved, how munk is obviously singularly devoted to demeter but cares about mungo’s wellbeing and protects him alongside his mate and how the two of them together make mungo feel valued and safe (alongside his own mate rumple of course! and her sweet parents, jenny and skimble)

It's honestly crazy how people have so many misconceptions about the behind the scenes drama with Invader Zim that's mostly just fabricated based on what we expect because of what we hear happens with other shows.

Like, the network censors did have some weird bones to pick with certain things the Zim crew wanted to do, but I think it should be obvious given the stuff that made it to air that they were actually quite lenient about what was allowed. I think somewhere there's even a quote from Jhonen saying he didn't actually have a lot of fights with them and that the only thing that would've changed if Zim were on something like Adult Swim where he could go totally hogwild is that people would just randomly explode sometimes. Like, Nick were the ones who asked Jhonen to make a show for them after reading his extremely violent and mature comic books. They knew what they were getting into and they knew what they were signing off on when they let episodes like Dark Harvest go to air.

Contrary to popular belief, Nick never "hated" Zim. It wasn't cancelled for being "dark" or getting complaints from Karens or inspiring serial killers or having low ratings, and they certainly didn't try to sabotage it on purpose with their wack-ass scheduling (how would that have benefited them?). Dark Harvest was in like, the third episode and they were mid-production on season 2 when the show was cancelled. It was Nick's most expensive show at the time and while it was getting good ratings it wasn't as profitable as they wanted it to be. So when Viacom's stock tanked and they needed to cut expenses they gave Jhonen a few different options to reduce the budget, and when they couldn't come to an agreement the show was cancelled. When deciding what episodes to finish Jhonen suggested changing the ending of 10 Minutes to Doom to have Zim die in order to give the show finality, but Nick wanted to leave the door open for the show to come back. Ultimately, it was decided that the Xmas episode should be the finale because it would make the most money.

Nick actually loved the show. They got exactly what they asked for and it did well despite the issues they had with scheduling it and their own ineptitude at marketing and merchandising it. When they ran a Zim marathon on Nicktoons Network in the late 2000s the ratings were something like the highest ever or second only to Avatar, and they did reopen negotiations with Jhonen to revive the show again. But they still couldn't agree on a budget so nothing came to fruition. Eventually though, we finally got the comics and ETF and I believe Jhonen said that there was supposed to be a revival series or some other continuation following ETF, but negotiations on that fell through because just when they were about to come to an agreement there was a change in leadership at Nick that caused negotiations to be scrapped.

It wasn't Jhonen and the network who had "creative differences". From what I understand, the only drama with "creative differences" on the show were with director Steve Ressel (and this was waaaaay before he got outed as a groomer in 2020). Apparently, there was enough bad blood between him and Jhonen and the rest of the crew that he said he wouldn't return to Zim if it ever got revived (and in fact he did not for ETF). I think it's actually quite telling that Steve recorded commentary tracks for the show by himself that didn't even make it onto the DVDs while Jhonen and all the writers and actors who were on the commentary tracks that actually got officially released sounded like they all got along really well and enjoyed working together. I think there was also even a conscious effort to avoid talking about Steve in the official commentaries.

Also, there's a whole blog post by Rikki Simons titled "Character Assassination Long Since Past Due" where he reams Steve Ressel for not only being a dick at work but for talking shit on his own platform and being the source of a lot of the misconceptions about Jhonen's attitude toward the show that persist to this day.

Synopsis: Divided into 3 teams to make different kinds of Kimchi

Production: Fairly straightforward, the guys are preparing various different kinds of kimchi. They have a guest teacher to answer questions. The coverage is pretty clean as well, but there's just something off about this episode's production that I can't grasp.

Endearment: Relatively benign, honestly. it's nice to see how the guys handle assigned tasks and teamwork. Each member has some funny comments, but I don't think there's honestly much to draw the audience in. I dont know, maybe I just watch too many cooking shows and this one just didn't really do it for me.

Winner: JH, JK

Loser: none

Best Cheater: Trust BTS to have a cheater in a food prep episode but I have to give this to Jimin for hiding some of his ingredients to reduce his workload!

Week 2 - Blog Post 1. I started with Max Stossel's lecture on how specifically social media is engineered to influence our activity. One anecdote that was fascinating was it seems to be the only business where the goals of the people providing the product does not align with goals of the user. In manufacturing, for example, the business's sole purpose of existing is meeting the goals of its consumers. As Max mentioned, we do not wake up every day and say, how much time can I spend on a specific app? Yet, that is the developers goal, to get you to stay as long as possible, and drive ad revenue. I also enjoyed the short piece by Emma Rathbone detailing exactly what life was like prior to the internet. At 35 years old I feel like I was the last generation to truly experience that in childhood, and it was quite accurate.

It is no doubt social media has a profound affect on my daily life. The most positive social media app I use would be LinkdIn. I find it helpful as my network of peers often post helpful industry technology, articles, and various local business news. This tool continually provides me relevant information for my work. The social media apps that have the most negative affect on my life are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Reddit. I don't tend to post often, but rather use them to check out for a period of time. I feel at times it is a crutch for when I have anxiety about an issue. Its easier to hop on an app ,and devour 'digital marshmallows' than deal with problem at hand.

Having access to the internet is an absolute lifesaver for me. For the areas it hurts as mentioned above, it makes my job a lot easier. Being able to text, get maps, have whatever music I want, answer emails on demand, and access customer records is essential when driving up to 50,000 miles per year. I can't imagine performing my job without a smart phone. Having that on demand access, also means people expect answers now. This can get stressful.

Many times on the weekend when I play golf I leave my phone in the bag throughout the round. Roughly 4-5 hours. I always leave with a sense of relaxation from being able to unplug for a few hours and do something I enjoy. And majority of the time, I didn't miss anything important.

Going forward I'd like to implement two strategies to limit my social media time. Study with it out of the room, and eliminate using it from when I get home from work until 9 pm.

Also Jared stans, when one of us sees our posts getting dragged for no reason, with embellished lies on top, and calls them out, forcing them to look in the mirror, where they have no possible justification or even comeback: i'M NOt goiNG tO EnGaGe wiTH yoU, YoU STALKERR, yoUU! Also, guys, fellow Jared stans, look, LOOK, I have a stalker, I'm so famous and important!! (right, because I came on your account to get mad about your excitement - or proportional lack thereof, yikes - about your fave's projects? Oh, wait.....)

(The fact that my tweets ended up on that one crazy incel's page to be criticized, the one who's essentially the Jared stan version of a heller, who sits there all day and fabricates lies about Jensen while claiming to be Very Intelligent™️ and an industry expert, is so funny to me. Like, if she thinks I did something wrong, that I'm a "stupid AA", while she's so smart and knowledgable about all things Jensen, because her crystal ball told her those things about him, and she's SO impartial and totes loves Jensen, even as she twists his words and straight up lies about him all day long to FIX him (because he's going to be coming to her for advice? Okay, lmao) while also praising Jared all day long for existing (you're not slick, lady, everyone knows you're a Jared stan, and your "former Jensen fan" anons that show up to parrot that oh, they've seen The Truth™️ (that Jensen doesn't and shouldn't revolve around Jared? That truth?) are actually your group of the other crazy Jared stans).... if this is a person who has an issue with me, certainly I'm doing something right)

And this coming from people from the group that ships Beau x Cordell, two characters who aren't even on the same network, let alone TV show. Like? Do they see how stupid they look, coming at me for shipping Beau and Jenny because "it's only been one episode"?

Also, why do they care what I'm excited about or not? Jared really isn't enough for all of them, huh, if they have this much time on their hands to be hunting down things to be bitter about other people's preferences that have nothing to do with them, instead of focusing on his two whole totes amazing, totes chemistry filled projects.

And the most interesting part is, Mr. Human Rights & Representation's cult is bullying people for shipping BA/JH because they don't mind being misogynistic AND racist and have turned a WOC lead into a stand-in for their fave guy and will thus hate on every other relationship and Mr. Be Kind, Don't Bully Anyone, Mental Health is So Important's stans are hating because it bothers them that people are excited for this show and the role, when I guess they've got nothing to look forward to themselves. No matter how much they say they're excited for W and WI, their actions show a different story. Sucks to be them 🤷��‍♀️ Pro tip, worsties, if you didn't spend all your time focusing on hating on Jensen, maybe you wouldn't have to be so bitter and angry at Jensen having his own career, which he's worked hard for and is excelling at, outside of Jared, and people being excited about his projects and respecting him as a person, because then maybe you could spend some of that time actually promoting Jared and his projects.

These two groups are a perfect match made in hell, two sides of the same coin. Wincest this, destiel that, clearly the actual ship is these two cults together. Wincesties & hellers riding off into the sunset together (or decimating each other, I'm not picky) and leaving us alone, when?

Also, I didn't watch Walker, because I don't waste my time on things I don't care about, but I just remembered, weren't Jared's stans shipping him with Tilly (Tilda? Something like that, the chick from his undercover stint) who shows up in one of the very first episodes just from the promos, not for any reason other than to "stick it to Gen" who I quote, they call "a sausage stuffed into a dress"? Like damn, if I hate someone, at least I do it because their personality sucks, y'all out here making fun of a perfectly good face, smhhh, which, even if it weren't, it truly is a new low to make fun of something a person has no control over

But sure, how dare I ship something based on chemistry that didn't even need a whole episode to be demonstrated, it was evident right away, the complementary storylines and tropes I enjoy, and characters I like?

Or maybe I should've been shipping wincest and destiel so hard and so loud, dragging my issues in front of the actors and writers, that the writers felt compelled to write scenes just to laugh at me. That's 100% not embarrassing or deranged at all.

For my next trick, I'm going to complain about anyone who says that the WIndy cast has such good chemistry and will make a good team, based on not even one episode. And then when that person whomst I'm targeting comes back and tells me they have their reasons for their preferences, then I'll act all high and mighty, and like they started a fight, not me, simply because I have no comeback at that point (the Jared stans' one comeback is "you're just a heller". When they can't use that anymore, it truly is amazing how quickly they shut up. So I guess I'll start with calling names. Then I'll pretend that it was not I who started the fight, and try to turn it on the person just defending themselves. And for extra spice, I'll call them the stalker). Oh wait, that's not a trick, that's called being a whiny loser with no life, who sits there and does nothing but hate on people minding their own business.After that, I'll seek out every tweet, every article, every single last post about Walker and WIndy, and complain about it, and claim it's because I care SO MUCH about narrative integrity, and nothing to do with a personal vendetta when I found out the world didn't revolve around me or my fave. I'll also make sure to let everyone know that I won't be watching those shows, in every single post as I continue to talk about them, continue to bug people who actually watch the shows and try to pretend to be the expert, you know, just to really make myself look like a full blown idiot

Biomolecules, Vol. 13, Pages 1657: The Juvenile-Hormone-Responsive Factor AmKr-h1 Regulates Caste Differentiation in Honey Bees

Honey bees are typical model organisms for the study of caste differentiation, and the juvenile hormone (JH) is a crucial link in the regulatory network of caste differentiation in honey bees. To investigate the mechanism of JH-mediated caste differentiation, we analyzed the effect of the JH response gene AmKr-h1 on this process. We observed that AmKr-h1 expression levels were significantly higher in queen larvae than in worker larvae at the 48 h, 84 h, and 120 h larval stages, and were regulated by JH. Inhibiting AmKr-h1 expression in honey bee larvae using #RNAi could lead to the development of larvae toward workers. We also analyzed the transcriptome changes in honey bee larvae after AmKr-h1 #RNAi and identified 191 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 682 differentially expressed alternative splicing events (DEASEs); of these, many were related to honey bee caste differentiation. Now that Benny's followers are growing back and he's gaining a bit of popularity, I feel like JH is organizing a pap walk since they are both in LA.

And sure thing he getting the ig followers back or more like he not losing them with music but gaining popularity? relevance? Lemme just saaaay

Soooo the VF oscars afterparty is giving out invites more and more each year like it's industry show yer ass photo show and not an actual party. Still he couldn't pull an invite lol like i wasn't expecting his ass to show up at the Carters by personal invitation only actual party BUT since he been networking and is about to premiere a show, he might be relevant enough for something???

Alsssso there was a boss show in Miami the other night and Benny nowhere to be seen but they invited so many of these wannabes who posted that sponsored #beyourboss photo that he done too lol are we surprised tho

He ain't gaining popularity. It's the fangirls coming back cuz Shadow Daddy and the 'he cancelled to me' attention span/memory is very short for conventionally attractive British men. And ye know the show is back so some new lost souls might have had join in too

And yes papwalk please that would be such an interesting thing to see during these times? Not gonna happen but still would be probably meltdown of the century
