I have a YOI prompt (too)

Do you remember those fanarts with Yurio as a "fairy" and Otabek as a knight? Good. That was perfect for my fantasy to explode.

Imagine Viktor, king of this kingdom made of ice and snow (who would reign in a kingdom like this btw? Maybe it would be good for winter holidays) and he's handsome and everyone is attracted by him... until he gets annoyed because those old men of the court keep telling him to get married, since his age is suitable for that, and if he doesn't want to get married the throne will go to someone else.

Theoretically, Yurio is the heir to the throne, but Viktor falls in love with Yuuri, our lucky katsudon, who is just a poor boy of the country (not so poor inside, since he gets to attract the most beautiful and desired man of the kingdom and NO ONE KNOWS WHY)

Yurio is OBVIOUSLY against it, but he isn't the only one who wants to be king (except Simba but okay). JJ and Chris, for example, could claim the crown - JJ with his fiancèe and Chris would be sooo glad to marry Viktor - because they are princes of kingdoms nearby.

Phichit is Yuuri's friend and wants him to marry Viktor, more than Yuuri actually wants to... at first. Same goes for Minami.

Some others like Seun Gil, Michele etc try to get some advantage by this story, without much success, and eventually support Yuuri.

And then there's Otabek, who doesn't give a fuck about all that and just wishes secretly that Viktor and Yuuri get married, so that he can stay with Yurio.

But the story isn't over: instead of ice skating, the characters have POWERS. Just think of Eros and Agape: Yuuri and Yurio could have opposite powers and eventually help each other at the end of the story.

I can just imagine JJ defending yuri against rude ass paparazzi or letting yuri wrap his sweater around his waist when he's on his period because he's so paranoid he's gonna bleed through his pants. Or maybe yuri being frustrated and confused with his hair because he loves his long beautiful hair but kinda wants something shorter and more masculine and he and JJ have rlly good talks about this sorta stuff and JJ being a supportive boyfriend to yuri is just

Yesss, JJ is overprotective of his loved ones. I can imagine him headbutting anyone who dare disrespect or hurt his loved ones, including people being transphobic to his Yuri. It’s actually surprising to see this cheerful smiling guy suddenly becoming serious and violent in protecting the people he likes.

And Yes, JJ’s clothes are mostly red so he’ll just be like “wear that babe even if you bleed no one will notice !”

And then what I wanted to reply to mostly : the hair thing.

I’ve been thinking about it and discussed it with some friends (they’ll recognize themselves ~), and I think JJ would tell Yuri that it’s ok for him to have his hair long.

“But it makes me look feminine”

“And ? What is wrong with being feminine ?”

“I’m not a girl, and I feel it would… make me less legit as a trans boy ?… if I’m really a boy why would I like feminine stuff ? people will think I’m just doing it for attention…”

“Listen, if cis boys are allowed to be feminine, why wouldn’t you be ?”

“I… you got a point here”

“Clothes, hair… it’s just appearance. Clothes are pieces of fabric, hair is like your nails. All of this got assigned to gender depending on how they’re made or styled by society, and it changes depending on the times. It’s just stupid. it doesn’t change what you are inside. and look at all the diversity in cis boys. Some are like me, muscled and tall, and we’re called “manly”. Some are more like you, lean and delicate, and you’re called “girly”. But at the end, we’re all guys. And it’s the same with girls. If I take a girl with really short hair, and muscled, and with little boobs, but identifying as a girl, will you say she’s not a girl ?”

“No, of course not…”

“Then you can be as much as a boy, even with your long hair and everything that you think might not make you look “masculine enough”. There’s nothing like being “trans enough”. As soon as you identify as another gender than the one that got attributed to you at birth, you’re trans. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Be a feminine trans boy if that’s how you feel comfortable.”

“So I can let my hair grow really really long ?”

“For sure”

“and braid it ?”

“Heck yes, I’ll even braid them for you if you want !”

Basically how I can imagine this going :> Because Yuri has the right to feel comfortable in his body and gender expression, whatever the way he decides to express it with ~

nobody will tell him who jj is. viktor is thin-lipped as he drives (we’re trying to protect you, yura) while katsudon gives him sympathetic looks in the rearview mirror.

the pig’ll squeal soon enough, yuri thinks grimly.

“i want to go back to russia,” yuri says, loudly so viktor can’t ignore him. “not japan.”

“this summer we’re visiting yuuri’s family.” viktor’s knuckles are white on the steering wheel. “his sister yuuko is very fond of you.”

“i don’t remember,” yuri says pointedly. “maybe if you got me a new phone i could take photos with her.”

“you don’t need one when you’re with us.” viktor says. “i’ll take them if you want one.”

yuri scowls, slumps in the backseat. he scratches at his face -- wonders if the reddened skin that had been under his nails was jj’s -- and tries to remember.

otabek had been the only one to visit him after the accident. somehow, he snuck past everyone, and even though yuri couldn’t remember who he was, he held yuri’s hand and said, how much do you know?

i don’t know.

well, there was me, you, and jj, otabek had begun. isabella and mila. it was always the five of us against the world every summer, as mila liked to say.

jj’s name had sounded familiar, fitting to roll around on his tongue, and otabek had laughed gently at yuri, had said,

well, that’s because jj loved you more than anything.

then why isn’t he here, yuri asked suspiciously.

he’s waiting to see you again. he will, don’t worry, yura.

yuri must’ve fallen asleep then, because then viktor and yuuri were there, and they’d told him they’d be spending the summer in hatsetsu.

now, driving to yuuri’s parents’ home, yuri struggles to imagine jj. what did he look like? sound like? why did otabek say those things?

“we’re here,” yuuri says softly. “i’ll get your things, yuri.”

“i got it,” yuri snaps. he grabs his backpack and heads to the trunk for his suitcase.

“yuri,” viktor tries, but yuri strides ahead, pushing past his older brother.

viktor and yuuri stay in yuuri’s room. yuri’s put in the guest room, and the reunion of the whole damn happy family means he gets to be left alone. all he had to do was mention a headache and they’d all fussed about sleep.

there’s a knock on his window.

yuri nearly screams, but he clamps his jaw shut and turns towards the window with fiery eyes.

there’s a guy there. maybe a couple years older. he waves.

i probably know him, yuri realizes. he opens the window and demands, “who are you?”

the guy grins. “jj leroy at your service.”

“you’re jj?” honestly, yuri thinks he just lost the ability to breathe. jj’s tall, with broad shoulders and tanned skin. his features are large and friendly where yuri’s are thin and sharp, and he’s got thick black hair falling over gray eyes that yuri just wants to brush back.

maybe i did, once, yuri thinks and flushes. almost like he knows what’s going on in yuri’s damn mind, jj grins just a bit wider.

“like what you see?”

“shut up,” yuri says. “if you’re jj, so why didn’t you see me? why won’t people tell me about you?”

“we were dating,” jj says. “and nobody really liked that.”

“who cares,” yuri says. “why?”

“you’re seventeen,” jj says, “and i’m twenty-one. you spent a lot of time hating me, and your brother doesn’t like me either. neither does katsuki. so when we got together, it was -- really weird? i don’t know. i’ve always loved you and when you came around, i felt like the luckiest guy in the world.”

“came around?” yuri repeats.

“beka -- otabek -- told you it was time to make peace with me. you always listened to him, and so you were a little nicer to me and i decided to be less of a dick and we got along real well.” jj’s eyes twinkle and he drops one eyelid in a lazy wink. “a little too well, you know?”

“i think i see what you mean,” yuri says dryly. “what if you’re just some lying stalker and otabek’s your accomplice?”

“that’d be a plot twist,” jj acknowledges. “i can’t stay long enough to explain today, but if you want to see me again, go down to the beach. i’ll be there.”

“what, all the time?” yuri says incredulously.

“i work there,” jj says. “i’m a lifeguard. one who’s gotta run right now, actually. see ya, chaton.”

jj goes up on his toes, and lips brush yuri’s forehead. they’re cold, and his skin buzzes long after jj’s gone.

yuri sleeps through dinner -- he’s way more tired than he thought. he dreams of jj, and jarringly, it feels more like a memory.

in the dream, they had been sitting side by side, stuck together by summer heat and a secret, and yuri’s head had been on jj’s shoulder. jj was singing, and when yuri wakes, the tune lingers but the words do not, and it makes him so frustrated he nearly cries.

instead, he rolls over and tries to find sleep, and jj, again.
