being bi has nothing to do with sexuality or romance and everything to do with feeling torn during the "these two characters are acting Very Queer with each other, i love their flirting, they're so in love" VS "friendship is just as good as romance, shipper goggles is not the only lens through which to view these characters, there's a lack of good friendships in media" debates

The Rockstar and the Teacher
Just thinking about a rockstar Eddie and a school teacher Steve who have been together for a decade, but Steve is kept out of the limelight by his choice.
He doesn't want to have his kids harassed because of who he's dating. Plus the whole gay man= pedophile in the minds of most parents.
Things are going great until they aren't.
Steve sees a tabloid with the headline "Eddie Munson photographed outside local bar with boyfriend, hints there may be a spring wedding!" and he's furious. Like seeing red, pissed off.
Because the guy next to Eddie is not Steve.
Whoever he is, he's dressed the same as Eddie. Leather jacket, long hair, chains everywhere.
But he barely has time to get worked up because even though Eddie had been in LA working on the band's next album, he is bursting through their house in Hawkins's door.
Eddie skids to a stop when he sees the tabloid on their kitchen counter and holds up his hands.
"I'm sorry, baby," he mutters and Steve chokes back tears, "I was trying to get home before you saw that."
"Why would you do that to me?" Steve cries.
Eddie slowly pulls out his phone like he's getting it out for a cop and hands it over to Steve, who takes it with a frown.
"It's not me, sweetheart," Eddie says. "I can prove it."
Steve looks at the phone and it instantly opens to Steve's face.
Eddie can see the hope spark in Steve's eyes as he looks through Eddie's phone.
Text message after text message about Eddie planning on getting Steve a necklace with both of their initials on it from Steve's favorite jewelry designer.
Eddie's phone pinging him at a nearby bar, but not the one the photo is showing him coming out of at the time it was taken.
Then the final evidence. A fan photo of Eddie and the girl taking a picture just outside of it the other bar at the time other Eddie was supposedly getting his picture taken with his "boyfriend".
"My management and PR team are on it, Stevie," Eddie tells him. "We think it was a setup from the jewelry guy. He lured me to the bar so that they could stage the pap photo."
Steve frowns at the phone in his hand, his fingers gripping it so tightly that his knuckles go white.
"Why?"
Eddie runs his hands over his face. "Honestly?" Steve nods. "To get you to come out in the public eye."
Steve looks at the phone and then back at the paper on the counter. Eddie can see his heart sink.
"I'm sorry," Steve murmurs. "I've been selfish. If I had just gone to LA with you been your partner all of the time, this wouldn't have happened."
Eddie takes Steve's face in his hands. "You are my partner all of the time. Even when we're apart. You weren't being selfish. You had just gotten your degree when we made it big. You wanted to use what you had paid for, and rightly so. This is on them, not you. Never you!"
Steve lets out a shuddered breath and then nods. "Okay."
He lets out another breath and Eddie smiles as Steve straightens his shoulders and cracks his knuckles.
"Give me two hours and I'll have this sorted."
Eddie doesn't doubt it.
****
Two hours later, Steve comes out in a beautiful cream suit and silver mesh top.
Eddie looks up from his place on the sofa and licks his lips slowly. He had been messaging Chrissy, his manager while Steve was doing whatever it was in his office.
"Wow, baby you look good enough to eat."
Steve grins. "It's a good thing you're hungry because we're going out to dinner."
Eddie stands up quickly and puts a hand on Steve's waist. "Are you sure you want to do this? We don't have to. We're already suing everyone for defamation of character and libel."
Steve grinned. "Oh yeah. I've already spoken to Robin and Chrissy and they're onboard."
"K, baby."
****
They arrive at the restaurant and they sit in Eddie's little two seater.
"Last chance, Stevie," Eddie said, looking out at the waiting reporters. "Just say the word and we'll go somewhere more secluded."
Steve shakes his head. "Let's do this."
Eddie gives his hand a squeeze and gets out first.
"Eddie! Eddie!" one reporter calls out. "What do you have to say about that picture in The Sun?"
"That's not me," he says calmly. "That's not my boyfriend. I would never cheat on him that way."
Then a burst of questions asking about his real boyfriend as he moves around the car to open the other door.
Steve steps out looking like sex on legs. But also like nothing anyone pegged as Eddie's boyfriend.
Eddie kisses his hand and Steve blushes.
Suddenly all the questions are directed at Steve, asking if he's the boyfriend? How long have they been dating? What's his name?
Steve just bats his eyelashes and says quite clearly, "I would ask you to respect our privacy during this trying time."
BOOM!
Mic drop.
The reporters clam up, the cameras stop flashing as they stare at him in open mouthed shock.
Eddie swoops in and gives Steve the biggest kiss. And the only reason it was even caught on camera was because the video camera hadn't stopped rolling.
They go inside and Steve gets two messages on his phone and Eddie asks if he's going to look at them, but he shakes his head.
"It's probably just Robin wanting all the inside scoop."
So they finish their meal and walk back out to the valet, hand in hand. It's then when Steve pulls out his phone. He was right about the first message, the second one was from a private number and merely said:
-Ben fatto, mio caro*
Steve smiles and kisses the the screen before tucking his phone back in his pocket.
As they drive home, Eddie asks about the texts.
"Just my mom telling me she was proud of me in the only way she could."
Mrs. Sophia Harrington was too conceited to send him anything directly, especially since Clint Harrington had cut Steve off years ago due to him being gay. But she could send a single message from a private number that she would never use again, to let her son know that she was proud at how well he had handled the reporters.
Eddie just smiles and they drive home in comfortable silence.
****
Steve goes to work the next morning and stops in at the principal's office. He smiles when he realizes the press hasn't figured out who he is yet. But it will only be a matter of time and he knows it.
The principal holds up a printed copy of his resignation and demands to know the meaning of it.
So Steve tells him.
"Steve..." the principal whines when he's done.
"You know you're going to have parents banging down your door the second it gets out," Steve explains. "It's easier for me to just walk away now and not wait for you to have to fire me."
The principal sighs but agrees. "You'll be missed."
Steve nods and stands up. At least he'll have time to say goodbye to his kids.
By lunch time it's gotten around the school that he's leaving but not why.
Steve had sworn his kids to secrecy so everyone could say goodbye, but a couple of his students come and hang out with him at lunch to talk about it.
"I knew you had to someone cool," the one kid says. "You knew too much about Corroded Coffin to be lame ole Mr. Harrington."
Yeah, Steve isn't going to miss that one kid.
He makes it through the school day and some of the parents have setup an impromptu farewell party on the front lawn of the school.
It's a tearful goodbye, but Steve feels lighter as he makes his way to car with all his things, then he has in years.
****
The news breaks on who he is later that night and Steve doesn't envy the principal's headache tomorrow, but cuddled up with Robin and Eddie on his sofa, he really can't find it in himself to give a fuck.
They'll later go on the Tonight Show and talk about how Steve had been in the closet for years and how he was forced out by this stunt with the photo. He talks about how other celebrities had been forced out too and that apparently it's not just for famous people.
That because he was with a famous person that meant he had no rights either and how that has to start changing.
He's happy he's out now, but it should have been on his own terms and not the media's.
There ends up being a spring wedding, but just the following year as Eddie and Steve tie the knot, two beautiful rings on their hands and a dazzling necklace at Steve's throat with their new initials on it EM and SM.
There is a mysterious gift of two tickets to a private villa in Italy after their honeymoon that has them both grinning like fools.
****
Here's a little gay Italian Steve for you.
*Well done, my dear

How do I accurately include diversity, and not make it look like I’m just putting it in there for the sake of it?
Writing Diverse Characters - Things to Remember
Honestly, there's no definitive answer to this.
Your characters are people with clear goals, desires and a role to play in the plot. As long as they aren't just sitting there with little else but their race/gender/disability, etc. as their ONLY personality trait, at least you're on the right path.
As for representing a diverse character realistically, here are some things you can consider to get started.
Do's
RESEARCH. There are plenty of blogs/YT vids/websites that exist to help you! Meet people!
Get beta readers.
It doesn't have to be explicit. Racial identities become quite clear early on through the setting, name, and initial description(hair, eye/skin color, body shape, etc) without having to drum it into the readers each time. Gender diversity can be conveyed through the use of certain pronouns without awkward declarations.
Character first, diversity second. Please don't intentionally create a diverse character and then think about how you can push them into the cast. Have a working character, who happens to belong to a particular group.
Read works that have represented a group well. There are plenty of non-fiction works, movies and documentaries that capture the lives of people around the world with a good eye.
Use the correct terms/language
Include different types of diversity
Don'ts
Race/gender/diability is NOT a personality trait. Please. Telling me that you have a Korean girl tells me next to nothing about the character herself.
Using sterotypes. Now, it's all right if your character has a few sterotypical traits, but definitely not if sterotypes are the only thing they have.
Diversity is not a "shock factor". Suddenly revealing that a character is actually gay and has been in the closet all this time as a refresher so that it draws readers' attention? Not a good idea.
One diverse character does all. This can often be seen in female characters of slightly dated works where one woman will play the role of supportive mother, sister, femme fetale and sexy Barbie at the same time. Don't write a diverse character who basically does everything a diverse character can possibly be. All that it proves is that the writer is lazy.
Things I personally hate seeing:
Weird pronunciation of languages. As a Korean person, I always get turned off by works (mostly badly written fanfics, yes, I read those...) that try to transfer Korean dialogue directly onto the page without even checking for the correct way to spell them out. A similar example would be pinyin for Mandarin. Please, this makes the character sound stupid throughout...
Character sticking out almost painfully. If your character isn't from the region but have lived in it for a long time, what reason do they have not to blend in?
Relying on variety shows/dramas as reference. Media representation of diverse characters that are meant for entertainment is not the best source for authentic research. I die every time someone lists a number of Korean rom-coms they've watched for "research". IT DOES NOT COUNT.
As a last note, remember that there's no limit to the kind of characters a writer can writer. Accept that our job as writers is to step into other people's heads, not seeing things from one (our) perspective - and it is not going to be easy.
Hope this helps :)

But we were fucking right though
i'm assuming this ask is about the following post bc i got it a few hours after posting this:
Tumblr media
I said, "lets plz not make speculating about dnps gender identity the new speculating about dnps sexuality".
And this response is, "But we were fucking right though".
holy shit this is insensitive.
being right did not make it okay.
yes, people looked for proof, found it, and were right… at the cost of Dan's mental health. Phil hasn't talked about it as much, but I can't imagine it was fun for him either. Did you watch "Basically I'm Gay"? Give it a re-watch, will you? Dan and Phil aren't characters; our curiosity can hurt them.
Being Right Did Not Make It Okay.
contemplate all you want, joke all you want, but please for the love of god do not start trying to prove things like we are in an Agatha Christie novel. whether you're right or wrong, all this does is put pressure on Dan and Phil to define themselves, and they may not want to do that.
this applies to pretty much any other "proof"-based speculation about their real lives, also.

1: Magic is a Metaphor > 2: Morgana is a Lesbian > 3: Merlin is Gay > 4: Arthur is Bi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously, magic is a metaphor for being gay. It is something that you're born with, that you can't change, but that you have to hide because the society around you won't accept you. Both Merlin and Morgana are always saying that they've been made to feel like a monster, an outsider, and they just want to be accepted for who they really are. And it's no coincidence that they are the most queer coded characters in the whole show.
But building off of that subtext, I think that you can read the different way that Merlin and Morgana go about trying to achieve equal rights as being an allegory for queer identity politics, where Merlin embodies this homonationalist assimilation strategy. He believes that if he stays closeted and conforms to the status quo, then eventually he will prove that sorcerers are good, moral, normal people and therefore worthy of rights. But over time, he internalises all of this shame and self-hatred and becomes increasingly obsessed with Arthur and dependent on his validation until he becomes complicit in his own oppression.
Meanwhile, Morgana represents a radical rebellion ideology. Even though she comes from a place of privilege, she quickly realises that she can't achieve meaningful change through constitutional methods and therefore resorts to violent protest. But her downfall is that she's more motivated by personal vengeance than a genuine desire for equality. So she creates a lot of infighting within the community by shunning anyone whose ideas aren't as extreme as her own, and she inadvertently confirms all of the negative stereotypes about 'angry witches' that she has been trying to fight against.
Obviously I don't think that all of this political commentary is intentional, but the basic idea of magic being gay is definitely intentional. As evidenced by this quote from the executive producer of the show, where he says very sarcastically, "some people say that (magic) is a metaphor for his sexuality, but that's just read in by them, isn't it? On no level is magic metaphorical in this show." And then Katie McGrath says, "it's funny because I don't actually think you're being sincere." And then she says directly to the audience, "Julian is lying right now."

Hey. Ty very much for your posts. As a woman in my 30s I got hypnotised by the beauty of the novelists and was wondering if you had similar high heat intense recommendations (also watched the samurai one "taboo"), bi or mlm with older leads and non fluffy storylines.. Moody atmospheric and venomous is my weak spot
Moody, atmospheric & venomous BL
Tumblr media
Like, the Novelist? really?
AKA Pornographer movie series AKA The Novelist, Mood Indigo, Pornographer Playback (Japan 2018-2020) - emotional manipulation, cheating, obsession, seduction, May/December, kink, touch of necrophilia, explicit.
Okay I got one right off the bat: seek ye....
The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese
AKA Kyuso wa Chizu no Yume wo Miru (Japan 2020) - obsession, cheating, breakup, reunion, then break up again, explicit, mature characters.
Now let me think about some more:
high heat
intense
non fluffy
older leads
The last one is a doozy, so I'm not gonna use it as a qualifier. BL is most, well, about "boys" not men.
Some others that might work for you but don't meet all your criteria:
Tumblr media
Your Name Engraved Herein (Taiwan 2020 Netflix) - this movie is fantastic but it is also seriously depressing, it’s a self acceptance journey, but if you wanna wallow in high quality acting and serious gay drama, this’ll do it.
Tumblr media
Innocent (Taiwan 2021 GaGa) - mental health, childhood trauma, actually kinda sweet.
Tumblr media
The Eighth Sense (Korea 2023 Viki - This isn’t in the KBL bubble, there’s sharp edges and lots of triggers. For a KBL the darkness of the content left me feeling unsettled but it's really damn good.
Tumblr media
My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho (Japan 2023 Gaga) - Basically: boys who fell in love in college end up living together but both are so repressed they actually don't realize they're in love. They're hot, young, in love, and total idiots.
Tumblr media
I Feel You Linger in the Air (Thai 2023 grey or YT) - IFYLITA is an exquisite BL, elegant and classy… from Thailand which normally doesn't even try for classy. The main couple (both as a pair and individuals) were excellent, it gets hot more that explicit, but it does have sharp edges.
Tumblr media
Tokyo in April is AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa (Japan 2023 Viki) - Two young men with a shared tragic past reunite and fall in love all over again, but the past will not stop hunting them. It’s Japan in full on soft focus which means it gets emo, abusive, and chewy. These two characters are giving parts of their souls away in a desperate attempt to shape themselves to the expectations they have of each other it's heavy and cutting.
Tumblr media
Moonlight Chicken (Thai 2023) - I enjoyed this complicated little show, even though it’s spectacularly messy gay with lots of shrapnel and authentic pain. EarthMix turn in their most compelling performance to date.
Tumblr media
Bed Friend (Thai 2023 IQIYI) - Office frienamies transition a flaming hot one night stand into a f-buddy relationship that is built on a puppy/cat dynamic (and kinks into it at one point). Our puppy is loyal, smitten, and protective with endlessly longing eyes, while our cat is snarky, prickly, and deeply damaged (ALL THE TRIGGERS). NetJames give lovely high-heat with excellent chemistry and tuned-in performances of surprising depth.
Tumblr media
Big Dragon (Thai 2022 Gaga) - This is a decent execution of true enemies to lovers, these two spy on and bully each other, exploring darker themes and self worth issues. The way the leads transition between anger, resentment, titillation, and flirting (and the way, with kinksters, this can all be the same thing) is really well done. A pairing that proved itself to be a lot more sophisticated than I expected with excellent chemistry, but something went askew around plot, directing, and ending. Still if you're in it for the sexy, go to, they did.
Tumblr media
My Beautiful Man AKA Utsukushii Kare (Japan 2021 Gaga - One of the most Japanese BLs to release in the last decade, as weird and as messed up as any 2000′s yaoi: emo af and hella warped, entirely true to itself with no attempt made to modify its POV for modern sensibilities or current BL fandom. It used seriously old school problematic and kinky tropes, like whipping boy, for a truly uncompromising piece that also manages to hit up themes of communication, consent, and self acceptance. It’s a wonderful BL but uniquely dirty and harsh, in the best possible way - Japanese cinema, uncompromising.
Tumblr media
End of the World With You
Tumblr media
Junjou: Pure Heart
Tumblr media
The Egoist
No thoughts on those three, not my thing.
You also might consider some of the stuff on this list:
Hope that gives you some options!

I don't know what your take on the whole asexual/aromantic discourse is, but have you noticed an uptick in people insisting that characters who are heavily implied to be gay are actually aroace? It happens a lot in one of the fandoms I'm in and it makes it so hard to have discussions about these characters. There's this particular character who is like deeply deeply traumatized and has completely reasonable trust issues due to it and I've seen so many people insist that that makes them aroace. It's such a reductive interpretation, but any sort of push back toward it gets you branded a bigot. And whenever I see people try to argue against it they always preface it with "if you have this headcanon you're so valid, it's so so valid, but" and it's like fuck off why do we have to do this shit?
Anon, don't get me started. I have so much to say about this.
I have seen so many people say that the reason that gay ships don't kiss as often as straight ships do is because "oh they don't need to prove their relationship by way of physicality! Their relationship is deeper than sex and kissing!!!" and it's like... no shit? Almost all relationships are deeper been sex and kissing lmao. The presence of sex and kissing does not take away from how deep a relationship can be. Two people wanting to have sex with each other are not more shallow than two people who don't. And for some reason, I only ever see this argued with regard to gay ships. Straight ships get to kiss all the fucking time. Nobody ever argues that straight people not kissing deepens their relationship.
There were some people who were upset about the men from Good Omens kissing in the season 2 finale, because they felt like it took something away. Probably the aroace headcannon that they had, and it's just so ridiculous. Like. We know you don't want to see gay people kissing on screen. We fucking know.
People will do literally anything but admit that they are fucking homophobic and think that two people of the same sex kissing is icky. Even if they identify as aroace, go put those fucking headcannons onto straight people and let gay people fuck nasty on screen. Y'all are so fucking annoying. Gay rights have not progressed so fucking far that we can put a stopper in gay people kissing on TV. We are not so deep into gay rights that you can throw a tantrum about wanting your gay characters to stay "good and pure" by never kissing or having sex with each other and not come across as homophobic. I don't care how much fucking representation you want. Gay people also need to be represented, and the majority of gay people kiss and have sex, so stop your whining every time that gay people actually kiss on screen. You sound stupid, selfish, and homophobic.

The zelda fandom and homophobia and sexism to shippers
Before you read I'm not trying to say ALL yona defenders, zelink shippers or people who dislike sidlink are homophobic/sexist. This is a 'if the shoe fits' type post but I encourage everyone to read.
A type of homophobia I've seen in the fandom which isn't new to fandom spaces is the idea of wlw vs mlm. Presenting wlw as pure, more genuine and sexless well mlm is just sex and can't be deeper than that. No mlm ships are inherently unpure or immoral, even if they do have a lot of sexual content. spending so much time calling mlm shippers freaks does nothing to support wlw ships. you don't have the right to go on and on about how zelink and sidyona are 'really lesbian relationships' or 'straight ships for gay people' or just gay in general and actively try to push out actual gay ships and gay fans.
Whenever an anti sidlink post or tweet gets popular we see in the comments and likes, hard line conservatives and homophobes agreeing with y'all. I know this is unintentional but with the constant focus of proving why ships between two men are disgusting, you invite those type of people into fandom spaces and making them more unsafe for queer people as a whole.
Me and many others don't like sidlink just for sex. We like them because we like them. The idea that someone has to have a dark alterier motive for liking something is also deeply flawed.
if you can't defend yona from misogyny without resorting to misogyny yourself and demeaning others than your not getting rid of sexism in fandom spaces but adding to it. You don't get points for demanding woman for their personal interests. You're not helping the character by calling people who dislike her or ship sidlink bitches, slut, fujos, coomers, fetishist, groomers, cum-for-brains,cumdumpsters, dickriders or literal slurs(all things that I've seen). inorder to be a good feminist you have to care about the feelings of real life people more than a cartoon stingray and realize misogyny affects every one in fandom, including people who ship things that you dislike.

I'm genuinely afraid that once the movie comes out and it inevitably doesn't "make trobed canon" people will be quick to criticize its quality for it and dismiss it as a whole. like it's a fatal flaw and bad writing. like the whole movie is shit because of it. It's not. we can love trobed all we want but it isn't owed to us and it doesn't mean the character arcs are BAD just because they don't turn out the way WE would like them to. It's not the only valid outcome.
and we haven't been queerbaited ffs. Does community really look like a show that gives a shit about what the popular audience thinks? do you seriously believe Dan Harmon and the writers would write anything into the show with the sole purpose of gaining the viewership of some specific audiences? LMAO go watch the show again. this show barely scraped by enough to get its 6 seasons because they DID NOT COMPROMISE artistic integrity, ever, they always made the show they wanted to make even at the cost of near cancellation and viewership loss. if they wanted to 'bait' any audiences into watching they could've made a more digestible, less fucking insane tv show my dude.
Tumblr media
and not to be that person but Yes, if you only think their relationship is worthwhile if they're canonically confirmed as romantic/sexual you are SO missing the point of what already makes them special in the first place. They're soulmates they're best friends they love each other more than anyone else and all this CAN be platonic/queerplatonic. You can dislike the writers' decision on that, you can disagree with them, but it does NOT mean it's queerbaiting or that the writers are making it a gay joke/trying to bait gay audiences. It just sounds like you're channeling your old wounds with past truly queerbaity shows into this situation when it does not apply at all, this isn't that kind of show and it never was nor will be.
And honestly, on another note, just take a look at how Dan Harmon writes relationships in general. No ship in community is meant to last. Every time he uses them it's there to show the character's FLAWS and why the relationships suck (jeffannie, jeff/britta, britta/troy, annie/troy...). He has NO INTENTION of writing a relationship that WORKS, that stays together for good, it doesn't interest him. If it appears in the show it's doomed to fail.
"Uh why don't they make trobed canon but we have to see these shitty straight ships that don't even work together :/" gee I wonder WHY. almost like it was written that way intentionally or something. With this in mind, him not making trobed explicit is honestly a GOOD thing and I am glad it's something just for us to dream about, because relationships in Community's universe just don't last. Friendship and found family are the things that prevail forever, as the 6 seasons kept proving again and again. You can dislike this about his writing, you can think it's a bad take, but it does not mean you can accuse him of queerbaiting just because he doesn't wanna write what YOU wanted to see onscreen. That's not on him or the writers.
TL,DR: we are not entitled to canon trobed and if you'll trash talk the movie just because it doesn't go through with it you're missing the whole point of the show you supposedly love and understand

So after seeing your post about BES I finally started watching it and damn. DAMN. People saw Mizu and can’t understand why transmascs gravitate to this story???????? I’m pretty sure “using bandages to bind chest” is like one of THE TOP symbolic moves that transmascs gravitate to when it comes to our (admittedly lackluster) representation in media.
Also, I feel like a lot of people get really weird about the idea that a story about empowering women and a story that’s relatable to transmascs aren’t mutually exclusive. I won’t speak for everyone but personally I like stories like this that don’t shy away from representing people whose AGAB doesn’t align with their outward actions.
And! Personally! As a man who is East Asian living in the US and has a higher voice even after 5 years on T, characters like Mizu rekindle my hope that one day I’ll be able to pass as flawlessly as him lol. Characters like Mizu, Mulan, Haruhi (from ouran high school host club) always seem to spark that little bit of hope in me… that maybe one day I won’t have to try so hard to be accepted and people will just see me and assume I’m a boy without me having to correct them… or at the very least, that they’d refrain from using any gendered language towards me until they ask and find out what I want to be referred as.
Oh for sure. It's like the Mulan thing. Like I'm sorry but you put "when will my reflection show who I am inside" and "who is that girl" and "why is my reflection a stranger" and you're mad that trans guys went "wow where'd you get that picture of me" like??? In a deleted scene, Mizu tries to play with her feminity in the mirror at the brothel and ultimately scowls and doesn't like what she sees- and you're trying to tell me that it's *not* supposed to be relateable to trans mascs trying to be feminine women and hating what they see reflected back at them?
Like you said, it's not that I'm mad that this is a story about empowering women and featuring a highly GNC woman as its main character. It's just annoying, and more importantly highly concerning, that people seem to think that because it's about empowering masculine women that trans mascs can't or shouldn't see any of themselves in it. I'm an entire grownass binary trans man and throughout my entire life I have felt more seen and more fellowship with masculine women both fictional and real than I have with anyone else except specific gay cis men who were very gender themselves.
And yeah. As your existence proves, it's not like East Asian trans mascs aren't real??? Like I'm sure there's nuance there that I'm missing because despite being biracial I'm not Asian and *definitely* not Japanese. But acting like characters like Haruhi, or Mizu, or Mulan [Chinese] *can't* be trans mascs because that'a inherently disrespectful to East Asian women is just plain erasing the fact that, um, Japanese and Korean and Chinese and Thai and Vietnamese and more trans mascs absolutely do exist and have existed as long as gender has existed.

The Supernatural convention is finally here. You’ve been waiting for months for the gathering, supposedly, Carver Edlund, the writer, was going to make an appearance late in the afternoon. The Supernatural books belong to a small niche because not everyone likes them. So when you started reading, you had trouble finding people involved in the fandom as much as you. Meeting new fans became a slow process of writing on the internet forum. That’s how you met one of your best friends, Celeste Middleton.
She seemed very into the books, just like you, although her fanaticism was different because she didn't partake in the discussion of the characters or the narrative, she was mostly interested in learning about the monsters and the ways to kill them. You, on the other hand, couldn't shut up about your love for Castiel, and how much of an underrated character he was. But because you were also interested in the monsters, you became quick friends and met up a couple of times. It was she that told you about the supernatural convention. You also agreed to go together and dress up as your favorite characters. You, obviously put on a trench coat, and she decided to be Charlie, the redheaded tech friend of the hunter brothers.
“Even if you’re a redhead, I still don’t think you quite fit as Charlie.” You tell her while walking through the stands.
One of the sellers has a collection of Castiel stickers that you stop to watch. The best thing about this type of convention is that everyone in the fandom can bring their own things to share and sell. If the fandom were bigger, that probably wouldn't be allowed.
“Really?” Celeste asks with incredulity. “I’m a hacker; she’s a hacker, I’m gay; she’s gay, I’m a badass; she’s a badass. What’s more to compare?”
“Celeste, there’s more to Charlie than being gay, you know?”
She chuckles, “oh, believe me, I know.” She murmurs.
You’re about to answer something when one of the nearby stands calls your attention. It’s one of the writers whose fanfic you’ve been reading. “C’mon, let’s go over here.” She follows without hesitation.
While you decide to buy one of the copies of your favorite fanfiction, your friend’s checking something on her phone. “So, you remember the friends I told you about?”
You think briefly, “the ones that were curious about the convention and wanted to come?”
“The same ones!” She announces, “they just got here, wait for me while I go get them?”
You're way too interested in your new acquisition, to really pay attention to her words. “Yeah, yeah, sure.”
Celeste told you about some friends that she had that weren't supernatural fans, but wanted to get to know the fandom and the surrounding fame. You're not sure whether there's anything interesting to learn considering they haven’t read the books, but you’ll be the best tour guide you can be. Your friend comes back shortly after, followed by two tall guys that are dressed up in a way that reminds you, probably too much, of certain characters in the books.
“I thought you said they weren’t fans?” You ask Celeste.
The one dressed up as Dean chuckles, “oh, we’re not, sweetheart, believe me.”
You look at him with incredulity, “well, then, why are you dressed up as Dean, and your friend here as Sam?”
The Sam cosplayer shifts uncomfortably under your scrutiny. The Dean cosplayer, though, is quick to answer, “because we are Sam and Dean.”
The encounter is proving to be way too funny. You look back at Celeste, “and they role-play too?” In spite of being dressed as Castiel, you’ve never been too much of a role player, so it amuses you that some non-fans are very into the characters. Even fake Dean’s voice is how you imagined real Dean’s voice would be like.
Sam throws an annoyed glance at Dean . “What my ah- friend here is trying to say is that our names are actually Sam and Dean, and Cha- Celeste convinced us to come as the characters in the books.” There’s something in his words that doesn’t quite persuade you.
“I see,” you murmur, “you did a great job!” Your wary demeanor instantly shifts to a friendly one. “You really do look like Sam and Dean.”
Celeste chooses that moment to finally speak, “and I don’t look like Charlie?!” There’s incredulity and exasperation in her tone.
Because you already had this discussion multiple times in the day, you decide to ignore her. Looking at Dean, you add, though you need the Samulet, did you forget to put it on?” You pull something out of your trench coat pocket, “here, I’ll give you mine.” Technically, your costume didn’t need the jewelry, but you decided to keep it for some reason.
You extend your arm and give it to Dean, who takes it reluctantly. “Oh, thanks? But I’m good.” He tries to give it back.
“No, I insist. If you’re going to do cosplay, you’re going to do it good.” At your insistence, he takes it.
Celeste smiles mischievously. “Yes, my friend right here is a very good fan of Supernatural.” She looks up and down your outfit, “guess who her favorite character is.”
You don’t even let the boys speak, “obviously Castiel.” As if there’s any contest with the rest of the characters. “After all, he’s an Angel of the Lord .” Your imitation is too bad that Sam and Charlie can’t avoid laughing.
Dean chuckles, “so, you’re not a Dean girl?” You’re not sure, but there’s something in his voice akin to disappointment.
“Dean is ok, but there’s no one like Castiel.” You clear your throat, trying to contain the excitement when speaking of your favorite character. “I mean, he’s sweet, powerful, understanding…”
“Cas? Really?” Now he’s almost indignant, “and Dean is definitely more than ok.”
Now, normally, you’re a pacifist, but you’re not going to let this rando talk bad about your fictional love. “How would you know? Considering that you’ve never read the books before.”
There’s a hint of condescension in his voice, “oh, honey, I know, I-.”
But before he can say anything else, Sam interrupts. “So! Why don’t you girls show us around?”
Dean seems to be completely annoyed by being interrupted, but he doesn’t complain when his friend Sam tugs him forward. At this point, a lot more people have arrived at the convention. The fans of Supernatural are not enough to be a crowd, but not as small as to allow you to recognize everyone. Your group is not the only one dressed up as the characters. You mostly see Deans and Sams lingering around, but there are also some Bobbys, Johns, Castiels, and even famous monsters like the walling woman. Sam and Dean (the ones in your group) take everything in with open eyes, and, sometimes, uncomfortable gazes. You and Celeste show them to the different stands, there are merchandise, game tables, fanfiction tables, fanart artists, and discussion tables. There’s anything and everything to make the Supernatural experience enjoyable. You can even see a fake tattoo artist draw a devil’s trap, in, well, a fake Meg.
“Oh, and the author, Carver Edlund, is supposed to be giving a conference and signing,” you finish your tour.
This last bit is what interests the boys the most, “really? Do you know when?”
“Uh, I don’t know. I suppose in a few hours,” you answer Sam’s question.
If he is disappointed by your lack of knowledge, you don't notice because you're too busy now looking at a stand full of drawing of different supernatural characters. It doesn't take you long to buy what you want, though, by the time you turn around, you see that all of your companions are chatting in whispers a few steps away. They seem to be in a heated discussion, so you don't dare to go near them. Whatever they're talking about must be private. Nevertheless, on some occasions, you catch them looking your way and then continue speaking. Are they talking about you? Out of the blue, Dean and Sam start a game of rock, paper, and scissors. Dean wins and cheers in place as if it’s something that doesn’t happen often. Before you can even try to make up your mind to approach them, Celeste and Sam walk away, while Dean returns to you.
“What happened? Where are Celeste and Sam going?”
Dean answers without hesitation, “they're taking care of something, don't worry. Why don’t you keep showing me around? They'll be back in a bit.”
Despite the fact that you are still worried about the sudden turn of events, you decide to listen to him and venture to some of the stands with Dean's company. He seems to be very on high alert because he keeps looking everywhere like something is about to jump from the crowd. He also looks at the “monsters” with a particularly nasty frown on his face that earns him some compliments for being very ‘Dean’. The demeanor, though, appears too real to be fake. You try and encourage him to buy a few things while he waits you wait for your friends to return, but he really is not interested. You even suggest playing a game, but he refuses. The only thing he seems to be remotely curious about is a particular stand on Supernatural creatures the brothers have defeated. You try to be a good guide by letting him in on your knowledge about the supernatural.
“And you learned all of this from the books?” He is really surprised by all the things that you've told him, even to the point of slightly forgetting about keeping his guard up.
“Some, other things I’ve researched on my own or Celeste told me.” Your hand caresses one of the books’ covers with a vampire. “I know it’s not real, but it’s fascinating to know.”
Then you dive into a full-on explanation about the different, fictional, possible ways one can get rid of certain monsters that you come up with. Things that supernatural books and your research don’t quite show that you think could work as an alternative to certain methods. You jokingly tell him that sometimes your mind wanders into the possibility of the supernatural being real, and you cannot help to think about it. Dean seems deeply impressed, and then something else.
“You know? You’d make one hell of a hunter,” he nods approvingly.
“IF hunters were real,” you respond instantly.
He chuckles, “sure, sure, if they were.”
You continue through the convention for half an hour, this time he seems to be more taken by you than before, because, despite that he’s still on guard, he makes conversation about yourself and your interest in The Supernatural books. He even tries to convince you that the best character is not Cas, but Dean. You believe that he is biased, considering that his name is the same one as the one from the character. Sometimes you notice the way his eyes look at your figure, and you cannot find it in yourself to feel angry. More like there's a small part of you that cannot help to gloat at the feeling of a handsome man finding you attractive. Though, you believe it must have to do also with the fact that, for some reason, besides his name, your mind cannot seem to stop pairing him up with Dean from the books. You’ve never been a Dean girl, but you’re starting to think you could maybe make an exception. He has something that draws you in. Whatever it is, you’re a goner because, by the time Celeste and Sam come back, they find you entangled in each other’s arms, kissing near the restroom’s door.
A/N: For plot’s sake, let’s imagine Charlie is in the Supernatural books. Also, if reader is dressed up as Castiel, does this count as Destiel?

Francis Is The Worst Character. (And Why You Should Think So Too.)
My first Francis post, and it's probably not the one people wanted. Lemme paint the scene—You've just committed a murder, so are on a drug/drinking spree for the night so you can feverishly ignore the fact you are having a mental breakdown. You awaken in your own bed after (Lucky you?) To your best-friend at your bedside. He makes you tea! All is lovely and you're still buzzing quite a bit from the previous escapades; You are very much not sober.
You are unconcerned, I mean? You've already set a clear boundary with your friend, and he knows you are uninterested (Either that, or not ready yet.) So you turn around, because you trust him—And then your best-friend assaults you.
Wouldn't the first thing you would feel, be betrayal?
Tumblr media
In what way, is that sexually appealing whatsoever outside of fantasy? ''Oh but this book is fic-'' It's set in a realistic setting, it's fiction yes, but is supposed to be read as something that could really happen. The other thing here is intent, how did the writer intend for this scene and it's characters to be read? Well, let's consider how Francis has actually been set up vs how the general audience perceives him.
Bunny was assaulted by Francis: This is implied at the beginning of the books set-up—It isn't obvious without the later context, and it's hard to put two-and-two together when the peace's of information are so scattered In the book. We'll get one peace of the puzzle, before we are distracted by another that in the moment appears more intriguing. I however, have theorised Bunny for one, defended/lied for the group in the beginning in order to keep the peace for Henry's sake.
When the matter of Francis had come up in the restaurant, Bunny had been stiff and waved of the peace of information and quickly skipped of to the next topic. Richard later even points out how utterly uncomfortable the two are when together, how ''Something'' Had clearly happened between the two but he didn't know what.
When the vail later shifted, and Bunny became entirely honest about what he really thought about each member of the group—He'd been so harsh about Francis homosexuality because he was still deeply wounded by the assault. (I'd like to point out it proves Bunny did know Francis was gay the entire time, but was just lying.)
He doesn't feel safe around Francis; never once in the book do we have a scene/implied scene (apart from the assault) of the two alone. It might even be why Bunny is so touchy about people knowing when he is drunk, or has slept with someone—Because those are signs of weakness that could be taken advantage of, and were similar conditions to what he experienced.
Tumblr media
The matter of Charles is far more grim, unlike Bunny he'd never been able to stand up to Francis—He was more susceptible to the manipulation. We do catch a glimpse of Charles true feelings the night before the funeral, where for a moment Francis's jabbering causes Charles to puff up like a wounded animal.
Francis is so incredibly abusive it borders on comedic how much he gets away with. He plainly victim blames Charles, who obviously really does have amnesia—Francis would've done this to anyone, Charles wasn't nearly as special as he tried to make him sound; Bunny would've suffered the same fate as Charles if he had the chance.
Alcoholism is Escapism—Addicts are some of the most vulnerable individuals in society, who're simply trying to escape the demons they cannot face within their everyday life. Charles is one such person whose running away from overwhelming guilt—And instead of being met with compassion, he is taken advantage of by Francis. Charles is assaulted repeatedly, and the worst part is Francis entirely felt justified in doing so.
Francis is a favored character in the fandom. He's funny, charming—And suffers from a mental illness many themselves suffer with. It's likely why on first reading, when Francis reacts to Richards confrontation—They take his side, because Boohoo; He's insecure, he hates his appearance, he's so lonely and is inlove with Charles! Charles is rejecting him, Francis can't help himself Charles is the perpetrator and not a victim-!
It's a wonder whenever we do see Francis react to the consequences of his actions. It's as if he's glaring down at a fire that just spat at him because he'd fed it to much.
Tumblr media
At each turn, I see the audience feel sorry for Francis when it is unwarranted and doesn't even make sense. My best guess has to be that people relate to him because of his Anxiety. He's perceived as weak and without capability of taking responsibility for his actions; He comes of as defenceless, which has therefore translated to him being a good person.
But Francis is anything but, whenever Francis gets anxious it gets misread as guilt for the murder, when what he really felt was fear for getting caught. Charles had felt guilt for Richard being dragged in, but Francis felt concern that Richard would get them in trouble.
Richard had been into Francis, but that wasn't consent. Merely being physically attracted to a person has never and will never ever somehow translate or equal consent. Even if you are dating them, or are married, that is not consent.
Consent isn't a game, someone's boundaries are not a game. It all doesn't suddenly change because their gay, and people think two men kissing is hot. (I mean it is, but consent is sexier and there is non of that going on here.)
Tumblr media
A lot of us are actively looking for queer representation in our media, and only recently has that demand really being met in what we consume today. But let's be honest, that's been a very recent thing. Obviously we want Francis and Richard to be something that it isn't, because look! A book I really like, with characters just like me! But Francis is a serial rapist, and no amount of twisting the text can change that. This book does have queer themes, but you won't find what you're looking for in Francis.
-
This post was inspired by this poll, which hasn't even been completed yet. But currently Francis is winning which deeply annoyed me.

Every so often I'll just be living my life and randomly remember that "I Don't Dance" exists. The song that has lines like "I don't dance/there's just one little thing that stops me every time," "slide home, you score, swingin' on the dance floor," "you better sping that pitch you're gonna throw me," and "I can prove it to you 'til you know it's true/I can swing it, I can bring it to the diamond too." (And Chad and Ryan have better musical chemistry than Troy and Gabriella ever had, argue with the wall.) And then Chad and Ryan SWITCH CLOTHES AFTER SINGING THIS SONG TOGETHER.
And Disney is trying to tell me that anyone other than Ryan Evans was Disney's first gay character? The only reason that's true is because they were cowards back in 2007 and literally nothing else.

I see requests are open (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
Could you please do the milgram girls meeting their girlfriends for the first time?
I will gladly do this, anon! However I must say that I will exclude Amane because she is a minor. I know that Muu is too, but she is in high school so hers will be more… highschool like. You understand? I'm sorry for any confusion.
Characters: Yuno Kashiki, Muu Kusunoki, Miharu Shiina, Kotoko Yuzuriha
Genre: Fluff?
Tumblr media
Yuno Kashiki
"Are you my gay awakening?"
She would actually question her sexuality for a moment. She thought she was straight…but maybe not. Not that she minded, she was cool with whatever sexuality she had.
She approaches you at first with a very friendly tone, smiling and giving you many compliments about your hair, clothes, makeup (if you wear any), and even voice!
She makes a lot of observations about you. Usually she does this to try to figure out why she is so drawn into you. It's not often when she gets wrapped up around someone's finger. It's usually reversed.
Even in the first meeting, be prepared for some teasing remarks from her. She loves to see that flustered face of yours.
Tumblr media
Mu Kusunoki
"You're so much prettier than Muu…"
She begins to speak in third person.
She wants you to like her, so she tries to use her charms. She would compliment you, share her food with you, and make small gestures like a smile.
She's actually quite observant, noticing your emotional state when necessary.
Many hugs! (Please give them to her)
Tumblr media
Miharu Shiina
"Oh my gosh, you're so beautiful!"
I swear she kinda reminds me of Mitsuri from demon slayer (kinda, okay? She would definitely be the love hashira).
Seems like the type to fall in love instantly.
"Girl, you've got me helplessssss!" (Hamilton reference. Cue Eliza singing the full song of helpless. I'm so sorry.)
She would just sit with you and converse with you. She loves quality time.
Tumblr media
Kotoko Yuzuriha
"Hey, you. What do you know about Mikoto?"
That was the first thing she asked you when she first met you.
Admittedly, she found you attractive, but that was all at first. She was more interested in her hobby of punishing the sinful. Justice.
Prove you're worth this sigma's attention and she will start to find you romantically attractive.
At first she would be like: "Huh. Maybe you could help me with my plans…" Translation: "You're an interesting person. Please spend more time with me."
She's too cool for 'romantic stuff'. Her words, not mine.
She probably won't even understand her feelings of attraction unless someone (Miharu) mentions it to her.

hello! if it’s not a problem, can i ask for some headcanons of sting with a veeeryyy hot headed BF who’s also not a wizard? both sfw and nsfw if that’s okay :)
you’re very good at writing and i love how you portrait all the characters so well
Thank you!!!
Tumblr media
Being a wizard and using magic is so normalized around Fiore and especially within Sabertooth that Sting's kind of surprised to meet a guy who doesn't have or use magic, let alone date one.
Hot-headed matches well with Sting, especially if they have that upbeat spark that he's got himself. You guys obviously started out arguing or competing against each other, maybe fighting, and you know how Sting loves to prove himself.
Granted, these traits do match up badly with the fact that Sting near-exclusively hangs out with wizards otherwise. Sting has just enough wherewithal to pull you back if you start trying to beef with Orga or Minerva or some shit, bc without the magic, u ain't Natsu and ain't gettin up if they clap you.
If you aren't a fan of wizards in general or don't keep up with wizard culture, then it ends up kind of refreshing for Sting. It probably tripped him up a bit at first, expecting you to know who he was, illustrious guildmaster of Sabertooth and all, and floored him to hear "who the fuck" back.
He's SO DISAPPOINTED AT FIRST like him boasting about killing dragons has never failed to earn a reaction but pretty soon he gets excited about showing you what being a wizard is like. It's even better if you uno reverse card him and drag him into whatever world you're coming from, be that non-magical guilds or just everyday life where people use electricity and shit.
You two probably met at a gay bar. Bonus points if you were the bartender. Double bonus points if you were the bouncer.
Since Sting is so eager to defend or just fight alongside his man, many fights you'd otherwise struggle with get one-shotted. Which probably irritated you after a while and he was asked to back off. He sulked about it for a week.
Unless you are yourself a high earner by some fashion, odds are Sting is richer than you by a good margin. He is a pretty capable wizard who regularly goes on difficult and high-paying missions, so the good news about that is you get treated often. Anything you want, you get without a second thought, you're pretty spoiled.
Rogue vanishes the second you appear, not because he doesn't like you, but because your energy and Sting's energy put together makes him need a nap very badly.
Sting does his best to hype you up the way he would any boyfriend, and he's good at it, only he sometimes lets people think you're a wizard for the fun of it. He's had a lot of fun lying to people about what kind of magic you use and how it can make people's heads explode or other outlandish tales.
NS/FW:
There are two possible outcomes here: One, you put your money where your mouth is and get Sting in Slut Mode pretty easily with that surefire aggro attitude of yours...or Sting discovers your bark is worse than your bite and you get a free domming out of your man.
The 69ing. Good looooooord the 69ing. Y'all be makin' each other dizzy.
Sting's filter is only half what yours will be. If you talk about sex lightly, then he's gonna be ready to brag to everyone around him how good you are in bed. If he's not too hoarse to speak.
So many nudes. You get new snaps daily, always after some attention, because you know he loves that attention.
Sting hates getting dressed after the fact so be prepared to see him walk around in the buff once he's got his breath back.

Not putting this person on blast or anything but I think it's a bit odd that we're still at this like. Every 'something' character has to be a whole entire fictional ambassador trying to soothe over decades of bad representation. There are people in real life who use masculine pronouns have implants like girl clothes and makeup etc. and yeah actually I think the fact that you immediately think of that description of real people just existing as a transphobic caricatured example of trans women is kind of proving my point that maybe this representation should be about... them and not the trans women you're thinking of at all. GNC people of all types should be allowed to have a broad variety of people to relate to in fiction. That includes even trans women who dont adhere to an idea of gender conforming clean faultless rep either but dont necessarily relate to like... intentionally transphobic serial killers in fiction either. There are trans women who are gnc there are gay men who are lumped in with transmisogyny because they are gnc and they still use masculine pronouns there are intersex people who want to have surgeries to be closer to a gender presentation they want, there are always going to be people who like pronouns that might be considered 'opposite' of presentation. There is no trans character that's going to be well received by transphobic people so instead of trying to keep things perfect and cut clean for them I think it's better to give a character to people who aren't going to relate to a sanitized overly cautious binary portrayal. Gender shouldn't be strict irl or in fiction... especially not in a series based around high fashion with.. bizzare in the title. And in conclusion... pronouns aren't necessarily your gender at all.
