A random fic idea: “Loki”, of all things (the actual not-story )

I’d start with firmly establishing we’re dealing with Avengers1-era Loki:

young, unstable, trying single-handedly to sabotage Thanos’s invasion (since, you know, I like my favourite characters having functioning brain and didn’t appreciate canonical confirmation “that” was his actual plan).  

He’d had to resort to letting Hulk wipe the floor with him, as, damn his thick Jotun scull, no one else had managed to knock him unconscious, and he’s cracking silly jokes because he can’t remember the last time he ate or slept, so everything a little funny.

He’s handcuffed and muzzled, and he understands the need to put on a show for the Midgardians, and it’s not like his oafish brother knows how to activate the actual binding runes, but he’s starting to wonder why Thor had brought Asgardian restraints in the first place.

Some pompous mortal steps in front of them and starts blatantly manipulating Thor into giving up the Tesseract, and Thor is falling for it. Luckily, one of Thor’s mortal friends collapses, thus creating a distraction, but then it starts looking serious, and Loki wonders if he’ll be able to help, since he remembers that one had some kind of machine protecting his heart, but Thor just pushes by, without even asking what to do, and tries to fix delicate technology with his stupid hammer, and suddenly Loki realises his brother doesn’t realise it was all a game and truly believes them to be enemies.

So, when the Tesseract lands at his feet, he doesn’t miss the chance.

Loki lands in the Goby desert and considers what would be the safe vs the responsible thing to do. Just as he’s about to destroy the Tesseract for good, he is attacked by some other weird humans in freaky costumes. Loki lunges for the Tesseract, knowing that (by whatever bullshit explanation canon didn’t bother to provide) while it remains on Earth, Thanos can’t just come and get it. However, he’s, once again, overpowered and starts having a meltdown.

Thus, when he is put on trial and out of context videos suggest he’d sent an assassin after his mother, cut off Thor’s hand etc., he’s ready to accept he’s meant to turn evil and can just as well cease to exist, but one of the agents approaches him and talks him into hunting truly dangerous “variants” instead.

Little by little Loki starts to realise the agent kinda looks familiar, and, once the agent mentions his fascination with archery, it becomes clear why. Loki reads his memories, and sees Hawkeye about to break the mind-controlling Specter in rage.

Further investigation shows all the agents are variants yanked from the moment of time where they were about to destroy an Infinity Stone (cameo of fat Thor and/or golden-haired Sif?). And, once they finally get a chance to meet the “evil” variant face to face, Loki himself appears: huge, blue and fully Jotun.

Jotun-Loki explains he was about to destroy Aether on Svartalfheim, when he was grabbed, put on trial, and shown videos of future him causing Ragnarök and eventually giving the Tesseract to Thanos, so he made the same choice of staying away and working for TWA. But one day he decided to check how his family was doing, and discovered his entire timeline was just gone, so now he is sort of trying to figure out which nexus event might make it reappear (although he’s pretty sure it’s pointless, so it’s mostly just revenge).

Long story short, the two of them (plus unbrainwashed Hawkeye and whoever else you want on the team) decide to figure out what’s the point of the whole conspiracy.

They get to the end of time, past the beast, into the castle, – and find Dr. Strange, weird-eyed and manic.

You see, the Time Stone doesn’t magically give you knowledge of every possible outcome: it just rewinds time. So, simple Maths suggests, if he had spent one minute observing every one of 14,000,605 possible outcomes, it should have taken him close to 27 years. And the one winning plan didn’t even start unfolding until five years had passed. Moreover, different futures don’t spring out randomly, if you want a different result, you need to change something. Hence TVA, dipping into Dark Dimension and feeding unpromising timelines to Dormammu.  

Having considered all the implications carefully, Loki(s) suggest Strange is too clinical in his approach, and why not let a little bit of chaos into his tightly controlled experiment.

Hence the rat that saved them all.

Which, unfortunately, would imply the events of “Avengers: Final” actually make sense, but that’s a problem for another story :-P

Mobius keeps surprising Loki, and as the God of Mischief that’s not something he’s used to. He’s not saying that he’s against it, but it makes him wonder what Mobius is really planning. *** Set during [checks smudged writing on hand] mid s1? Maybe early s2 - but def before the s2 finale. I tried to make this fic one that would fit into several of the fanfiction gaps we were given. You’re also free to imagine it as some strand of the multiverse where none of those things happened and they just get to be gross and kiss a lot.

so, here’s the thing about loki S2.

i was a S1 hater. i went to war over this series. i despised the direction they took my favorite character, i despised the actual characterization, and i despised the way they seemed to retcon everything that made him a substantial character. not to mention the hollow, corny, soulless background characters, the odd themes and plot devices, the depiction of friendship/relationship dynamics- wow. it was a mess.

however, as i’m seeing more loki blogs double down on this criticism with S2, so to speak, i’m actually appreciating this season much more. not only is the actual cinematography miles above the cheap “classic superhero franchise film” shots, but the dialogue and framing of scenes is much more pleasant. S2 seems to have an entirely different aesthetic. the graphics, especially the temporal shredding/time slipping, has consistently left me visually pleased. the side characters are incredibly more dynamic and nuanced. loki’s relationship with said side characters are genuinely reciprocal. seemingly above all else, loki FEELS like a main character, this season. he felt like a main character even before this massive OP power addition in Ep5.

i fucking loved loki’s Ep5 brief emotional monologue. it sprinkled in a tasteful description of what many loki fans have consistently been thinking; no, loki is not narcissistic. he genuinely just wants to be loved, to feel less alone. although the show has neglected to truly callback to loki’s problematic family dynamics, this seems like a sort of red-thread moment to loki’s entire MCU arc. i don’t see this as some stupid “character growth 😛” bullshit, either. i don’t think loki suddenly wants to have friends, and never did before. where the growth comes from, for me, is loki building trust. that same “trust” seemed plastic, ingenuous, and redundant in S1 because it lacked any realistic foundation. we have a supposedly very mentally unstable loki variant surrounded by untrustworthy people, and he,,, what? followed his captor around like a puppy? nah. this season, however, feels different. the dynamics can be flawed at times, but there is a genuine sense of community and reciprocal care. i just wish S1 wasn’t such a bad foundation for everything good about S2 so far.

that isn’t to say i don’t have criticism and pipe-dreams for loki as a character. i wanted to see his gender fluidity. i wanted to see, especially, his struggle with his jotunn racial identity. direct references to his familial trauma (show-dont-tell, of course). i have to admit, though, that the plot itself is winning me over from these grievances. the sheer enjoyability of this season is addictive. if i want incredibly detailed loki character studies, i have fanfiction for a reason. while i wish some things were represented more in-canon, i have to admit that S2 has been so fucking fun to watch.

final note is that i am, unfortunately, being indoctrinated into the lokius agenda. i know, i know, 2021-me would kick now-me in the nuts. this change of interest is genuinely based on the in-canon dynamic shift. they seem much more like colleagues and friends. the weird power imbalance is much less apparent. i’ve been getting through S2 by sidelining everything from S1 except for necessary plot points, tbh. S1 was such a waste of space.

I read you post about Sylvie's character in fanfiction and I'm very curious about which fics you think has an accurate portrayal of her character and which don't

hi! thanks for the ask.

to be honest, pointing fingers at the specific works and calling them "inaccurate" would be kind of insensitive on my behalf, so i'm not going to do it bc the authors' experiences in the fandom are supposed to be fun and light, in my opinion.

i was merely trying to point out some recurring patterns in Sylki fics that i have encountered many times ever since S1 ended and i just don't think those are really canon-accurate.

and as i said, it is fine for the writers to experiment with the characters and even write them in a very oc-ish way, but at some point it feels like maybe people start writing based on the perception of a character within a fandom rather than paying attention of what the character is like in canon, you know what i mean?

as for the fics where Sylvie truly feels like Sylvie, there certainly are such fics out there, i can't think of many long ones right now (and i have lost some of my bookmarks).

if one wants to write Sylvie who is closer to canon, they should try "studying" her persona from the series, not from other fics that some may think have the accurate portrayals of her, since it will more likely come down to the subjective judgement.

i would still like to mention a few short fics that i can think of off the top of my head (they don't necessarily have anything to do with the stuff i talked about in my previous rant though):

i love this fic not only bc it portrays how attentive and caring Loki is in his dynamic with Sylvie, but also bc it shows Sylvie's workaholic, purposeful nature and bc it shows how stubborn, headstrong, independent she is and how difficult it is for her to be vulnerable with anyone.

(while i highly doubt that Sylvie would ever feel apologetic to the tva, i know this is a popular HC, so i won't discuss it right now.)

this one asks a question "what if Sylvie was a virgin when she started dating Loki?" and deals with this hypothetical situation in a way that makes sense.

this one is a dark masterpiece bc it puts these characters in an extremely dark situation and portrays their reactions and choices to these circumstances as in-character and believably as possible even if the responses Loki and Sylvie have in this fic are far from what a typical shipper would love to see. but it makes sense in the darkfic realm.

i love how this one shows Sylvie's struggle with normalcy!

not about whether it's in-character or not, but i simply adore adore adore this series of stories bc it shows how much potential Sylvie has as a character for the fan-fics/art.

i have yet to read a fic that really portrays Sylvie's idealistic dedication to her mission that she perceives as noble and her obsessive quest for freedom.

anyways, there are A LOT of great Sylvie fics, great modern au fics, that i don't have the links to right now, and i don't want to dictate how one should portray her, in the end of the day, it's just fanfiction!

Fanfiction i want to write one day, after my exams are done.

BTR/ avengers.

Where kendall is the (great) grandson of Steve Rodgers. After he becomes captain america and hooks up with Peggy, she gets pregnant. But before she could tell him, Steve goes on his final mission to take down hydra and is presumed dead. 9 months later, Peggy gives birth to a boy, but she knows that if someone found out that her son is the son of captain america, they'll go after him. So she abandons him at an orphanage where he eventually gets adopted by the knight family.

Time goes on, peggys son gets married and has a baby, baby grows up and married mama knight. Kendall is born, then Katie is. But then Mr. Knight gets killed leaving the family of three.

Captain america gets found and gets used to society again, loki attacks etc.

Kendall grows up in Minnesota, meets James and Carlos in kindergarten, saves Logan from a bully in 4th grade and they grow up together. Then Gustavo arrives in Minnesota in the middle of their Jr. Year.

They start BTR and the events of the show are the same, then during their tour (end of s1) they stop at NY, they stay at Stark tower and have fun, have a concert when suddenly HYDRA attacks.

Kendall gets captured, along with the other boys (idk yet), Steve finds out kendall is his grandson, and has to go rescue him before hydra makes him their new winter soilder.

(This takes place after CAWS, but civil war does not happen, bucky is part of the team)

They go rescue him and idk, stuff happens.

Don't have a full plan for this just yet, idea randomly popped into my head and had to write it down.

This came from me thinking about how similar kendall and Steve seem to be: blonde, leaders, tall, willing to stand up for their friends and what they believe in...etc.

I think it's mighty disrespectful that I got MCU fatigue as they started giving women and people of color the spotlight

I feel like if they did that shit sooner I might still enjoy the franchise even if just a tiny bit

The last Antman and MoM felt like such a chore to watch

The last MCU thing I watched that I fully enjoyed was TFATWS and have rewatched it several times since until I completely gave up on the MCU

Loki s1 was okay but not something I had the desire to watch again - I do intend to watch s2 just for Rafael Casal and Ke Huy Quan at some point but I'm not in a rush to do so

Moon Knight only had my attention for Oscar Isaac and May Calamawy

So by the time Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk came out I was over it

I only watched the last Antman and MoM because Josh wouldn't leave me alone til I did

I love Monica and Carol but I have absolutely no desire to watch the Marvels

I am kinda looking forward to the next Cap movie but only for Sam

Thunderbolts I'm not looking forward to at all but I'll watch it for Bucky in hopes they finally kill him and release him

When Pedro becomes Reed Richards I'll support him

But bro I'm so tired of this fucking franchise

And it's so sad

Because the MCU used to bring me so much joy

I wrote the most fanfiction about this franchise

I had a 3 part fic series planned that now I've lost all passion for and I might not even finish the first part

I miss when Marvel was fun

I miss when Bucky was my comfort character

Don't even get me started on X-Men actually joining the MCU

Also hope Deadpool stays his own franchise away from the MCU

AU IMAGINE: Everything is the same with episode 3 of Loki...but it’s Darcy and Loki. But could you imagine:

• The bickering between Loki & Darcy while trying to catch a variant

• They sit down together & get to know each other���s past with some flirting on the train

•Loki serenading Darcy in Asgardian

• Loki ends up convincing Darcy to sing with him and they nail a 90s hit because Mobius definitely introduced 90s music to Loki

• Drunk Loki and Darcy smash in the bathroom as a bonus because of all their pent up sexual frustration for each other

• Mobius gets them back at the TVA and makes them have explain what went down when they teleported away to catch a variant and why they failed but they also explain that the TVA is bad

• More could be added to this plot as seen fit

What is left behind

There wasn’t much to say of it The young agent tapped his fingers on his desk out of utter dis-amusement.

He had first come to the TVA on accident well him and his siblings. Yet at this moment he was alone doing the usual degrading desk jockey work. Work that wasn’t meant for him…. He was the oldest. He wasn’t unknown at the TVA either. He was fairly popular for a desk jockey.

However the Agent in question always had a sense of humor that drew people to him. Not that he gave 2 shits. He doesn’t live for the approval of others or even the TVA. He was only here ,because his siblings still were and they hadn’t gotten a way out yet. …and mark him he means YET.

The desk he sat at was fairly boring for a cubicle. Especially as he and his siblings had come to the TVA with limited to no knowledge of Earth stuff. Earth is a rather cocky dimension as it loves to horde the attention. The TVA was annoyingly Earthcentric… which was odd of an office monitoring all of time and space. Earthling looking cubicles. Earthling looking chairs, Human Cartoon looking clock lady, Human magazines.

If you asked him it was all too fucking stupid. Although there was some Earth stuff he liked. Working here long enough will make it so you have favorites from most civilizations.

“Agent L!! Agent L! Your never going to believe this… You know Mobius??” One of the other agents rambled.

“uh Mobius m Mobius? about yay high? Obsessed with himself needs to be the center of attention at all times while still sticking to the goody two shoes perfect Bureaucrat act…. Yeah I know him sanctimonious ass if you ask me…” Agent L rolled his eyes.

“Your never going to believe this but he’s taken a pet Loki variant!” The other agent exclaimed in a loud whisper.

“Come again Charlie? Im really hoping I didn’t hear you right.” Agent L frowned.

“No you heard me right Mobius has a pet Loki variant and I figured you might want to know.” Charlie answered.

“Damn straight I want to know. But more importantly what the hell is Ravonna thinking?… I gotta go talk to her. Thanks for the heads up Charlie.” Agent L tapped him on the shoulder….

“Rennslayer it’s me open up.” Agent L started.

“I figured I should expect a visit from you sooner or later.” Ravonna opened her office door.

“This is a whole new kind of stupid.” Agent L crossed his arms.

“I know.” Ravonna responded

“Then why the hell are you going through with it?” Agent L interrogated.

“I trust Mobius.” Ravonna replied.

“Famous last words…. Mobius is a showboater who wishes he was a jet ski. Yet you trust him to reign in and keep track of a LOKI VARIANT?.” Agent L pursed his lips.

“ I know it must be hard for you but you need to trust me.” Ravonna replied.

“Trust you, Trust Mobius, all whilst nobody trusts us….” Agent L threw his hands up in defeat.

“I get you know him well…. But…” Ravonna started

“But? But ? But what Mobius know his variants and knows him too. Clearly not…. Because if he did he’d know he was barking up the wrong tree.” Agent L questioned.

“You sound like her.” Ravonna chuckled.

“You of all people don’t get to talk about her especially right now….Let me ask you this how do you think he’ll react knowing his Wife dies brutally on the sacred timeline? You think he’ll sit down and be a good little doggie for you to send on fetch missions try again.” Agent L wondered

“If we continue to show and threaten him with reset.”

Ravonna stated calmly.

“Oh? like I did when I found out?” Agent L

Seethed.

“You were a different case younger more reckless…and even then you eventually fell back in line.” Ravonna smiled.

“ Whatever Rennslayer just don’t come bitching to me when he escapes…. And actually don’t come bitching to my siblings either. You and Mobius made the mess you and Mobius can figure it out.” Agent L left slamming Ravennas door.

Regarding the Lokius thing: What I've seen across the board is that ppl really started shipping it as a joke b/c Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston? haha, how funny! And then by Ep2 it turned into "Oh shit, I really ship this, how did I get here??" A few pointers:

- Most shippers are not deluding themselves into thinking the big romance already happened in S1. They built a wonderful friendship and Friends to Lovers is a very beloved shipping trope so there's a lot of appeal here.

- The show itself is painting both relationships as pretty equal. Like, when Loki thinks Sylvie got pruned vs. when he sees Mobius getting pruned - he's just equally devastated. Stuff like that. The show is also seemingly taking the more intense approach whenever possible, like there was no reason for Mobius go into a highly emotional rant about how Sylki breaks his reality or turning the bro-hug from the making of in a full-body hug. They could have toned it down to be more casual if they wanted to.

- There was actually a bit of misinformation floating around that Loki would get a male love-interest. With no other fitting character in sight ppl naturally assumed that would be Mobius. There are also a few interviews floating around talking about their relationship as one of the love stories in the show - so that just added fuel to the fire.

- The marketing is also really focussing on Owen and Tom with Kevin Feige even being on record that he knew Loki and Mobius "will be one of the most popular pairings we’ve ever had at Marvel.” So again, fanning the flames here.

Obviously there's always this sliver of plausible deniability like "we just meant platonic!" but at some point it crosses the line to legitimate queerbaiting (like, beyond the usual more accidental stuff). Of course some will be saying "Well, it's just your own fault for falling for this!" but on the other hand you can't really fault ppl when the show is clearly selling this as an intense partnership of some sorts and the ppl in charge know exactly how much their audience craves queer representation in the MCU. (But that's a rant for another time.)

So there, a few stray observations from someone who's actually more team "Just let them be a happy OT3 with lots of hugs and therapy for everyone!" lol

I totally get how it can be disappointing for people who were looking for a lgbtq+ relationship and weren't satisfied. Even though I personally see Loki and Sylvie, as two bisexual people, being a lgbtq+ relationship.

I hadn't seen anything prior to watching Loki that made me assume Loki would be getting a male love interest or that he and Mobius would be romantic so maybe that's also impacted my reception to the show, as I went in free of preconceptions.

Anyway, totally support you Lokius shippers that aren't making the fandom hard for the sylkis, and I wish you all the fanfiction your heart desires! Also, if the writers do take a Lokius stance next season, I'll be disappointed, but happy for people like you anon! ❤️

I actually used to buy into the whole “Zuko is the only well-written redemption arc” thing, like I was never an anti as such, but before it was as widespread as it was I would still see the concept floating around and be like “yeah,” and thinking back, the process I went through as a villain fucker looked like this:

-2007, ATLA is airing, I’m in middle school and I’m obsessed and I like zuko. Didn’t care that much about him in s1, then he cut his hair off and I was like “okay, yeah, I feel it.” Sexual awakening happens. I start writing a lot of Zuko/OC fanfiction that is now unfortunately lost to time.

Zuko serves as a gateway drug for hot villains & antiheroes that follows me through my fandom journey. (I was also super gay for Ty Lee, i just didn’t know it yet. This is not relevant.)

-2012, around the time villain wank is starting to spring up due to Loki’s popularity, I realize then that I’m supposed to be ashamed of wanting to get railed by sad murderboys cause it’s cringey (I miss when people didn’t try to label it as “problematic” and just admitted they find it personally annoying.)

I quickly try rebrand myself to myself and others as a Good Villain Fan who never excuses their actions and doesn’t want redemption, I just think they are interesting!!! And sure, the actor is handsome but that doesn’t change the character’s actions ladies!! Remember your fake crushes need to be pure organic home-grown grass fed free range no GMO or else!!  

Except that my love for Zuko, a character who fits that exact archetype only with toned down fictional crimes cause he’s on a kid’s show, is too deeply embedded for me to abandon.

So now I have to retroactively justify why it’s okay to stan him and not Loki and the other murderboys, and luckily some brave bloggers on tunglr dot hell have already done the work for me by declaring that his redemption arc was the Best Ever and your fave will never compare. Great! Glad we got that sorted out.

I proceed to thirst only after the most pure of heart characters. I still think Loki is mad sexy but I pretend I don’t and I only like him for the most sophisticated literary reasons. Secretly I yearn to thirst after fake bad boys. I pray that someday a new murderboy will appear who will have such a good redemption arc that he will be acceptable stan material.

-January 2016, the new Star Wars just came out. I’m already starting to get sick of this bullshit and the Kylo Ren w4nk is the last straw. I don’t even think he’s hot at first, I genuinely just think he’s interesting and I relate to him, but now even that is too impure.

You have to preface every post with an acknowledgement that killing people is Bad Actually and you KNOW this and definitely do NOT want him to have a half-assed redemption arc. If you want him to have a long painful well-written redemption arc full of suffering (just like Zuko’s incidentally, only not as good because it never can be) then you can stay, but you’re on thin fucking ice.

But ideally you only like him as an intellectual exercise in like, the MRA psyche or whatever. You definitely can’t ship him with Rey or find him attractive cause then you’re woobifying him because you think he’s hot and ignoring the MoC in the cast. (Insert the “I have three holes” tweet).

That’s when I call bullshit on the whole thing, there was never an acceptable level of villain stanning, the game was rigged from the beginning and there’s no winning it. It was never about making sure fake people get held accountable for fake crimes, it was always about controlling women’s sexual fantasies.

I start to follow a lot of reylo blogs and accidentally start shipping it. I make this shitpost. It becomes the bane of my existence that haunts me to this day.

2019: I don’t know anything about MCU!Mysterio except that he’s a villain and is played by Jake Gyllenhaal. I stan anyway cause his dumb costume is hot and villains are hot and I want him to rail me until I forget my own name and that’s literally the whole reason. It hurts literally no one and it makes me happy, so who cares? Not this bitch.

Anyways, my point here is that--like, I can’t speak for everyone, but I think probably a lot of people on here are still stuck in the 2012 phase here, where they actually really like villains but are scared to admit it because it’s considered neither cool nor woke (and let’s be real, the second is only valued as an extension of the first on this site) so they pretend they don’t.

And if any of those people are reading this, I would just like to tell them that it’s okay. You can like a bad guy because you think they’re hot, or you relate to them, or you think they’re interesting, or any combination of the above, or completely different reasons. They’re fictional characters. How you engage with them is not a performance for other fans, it’s for your own enjoyment. So enjoy them.

Also, sorry this took so long, but also look how many hard questions you had for me!!!

1. Talk about the first ship you ever had.     My first ship was for Roswell. I was a little tiny Junior High-er, and loved Max and Liz so much. It was the first fandom I ever participated in, and the one that made me discover fanfiction on the computer in the computer room. Sigh, 2000. My very first (terrible) fics were written about these two. I think I even had an Angelfire webpage dedicated to them. I still read for this fandom occasionally.

2. Talk about three of the most important ships throughout your life.    Dreamer, because it was the first and the one that opened the door to fandom.     Then, not even a particular ship, but Heroes got me back into it after trying to leave it behind when I went to college.      Lastly, of course, Gremma. Because Gremma reignited my writing more than any other ship.

4. What’s your current NOTP?   Always Evil Huntsman, S/Q, and Swan/fire

8.Have you ever shipped yourself with a character?   Like, in fic? No. Did I love characters so much and want them to be mine? Sure, of course.

9. Do you have many ships that never got together at all?    Let’s see … not at all? I have a couple, yes. But I think most of my ships at least had canon romantic interest. 

10. Do you ship any characters that have never met?      Maybe Darcy/Loki, but that’s a minor ship.

12. Have you ever been disappointed when your ship finally got together?       YES.

15. Have you ever “shipped at first sight”?      Oh, absolutely and often.

Luke/Jessica, Pepperony, Chidi/Eleanor, Mike/Fi, Shules, … the list goes on. (shockingly, Gremma was a “I know this will happen” but took me an few eps to come to love as much as I do)

16. Talk about a ship you initially disliked.      Hmm, maybe Military Punk. I don’t think it was full-on dislike (because nothing with that first scene can truly be that), but I wasn’t into it at first. Dammit, Paul.

Also, Maeve and Hector. I thought I was going to love Dolores/Teddy when I first started Westworld, and was “meh” about everything else. Until maybe around 1x04, Dissonance Theory.

17. Talk about a pairing you’ve stopped shipping romantically.

       Nick and Jess, New Girl. It just got to the point where I was actively rooting for them to be BFFs instead.

21. Is there a ship you just don’t get, but have nothing against?      Captain Swan. *shrug* I tried.

22. Which of your ships have the best chemistry?       All my ships have amazeballs chemistry. Grrr, can’t pick.

23. Which of your ships deserve better writing?          Ha. Hahahahahahaha. Easy.

24. Do you mostly ship canon pairings?     Probably mostly ones that had shown romantic interest on screen. That doesn’t necessarily mean they were together forever, but at the very least there was a spark of canon interest.

25. Have you ever shipped a pairing before you even started watching the show/movie simply because of gifs and graphics or similar?       I thought of two for this. One was an easy Annamis, because they were so lovely and America gets things late on BBC (speaking of, will need to see Discovery of Witches, too). 

   But there was one that full-on shocked me. I occasionally peek into fandoms just to see about fic, and one time I stumbled on a Star Wars fic where a ship was just hinted at. And it started a craving for that ship, and I read a lot, and I even wrote a bit. But I had only seen the original trilogy once when I was a kid, and I think the second in the prequel series without my full attention. How this translated to Obidala? No clue.

30. Name a couple of fandoms in which you have no ships.      The Haunting of Hill House. I think the romantic relationships are fantastic and pretty layered for not being the focus, but my main love in this show is the family dynamics and character studies.      And I still haven’t figured out how I feel about it completely, but in that vein: Umbrella Academy. I like certain dynamics, but no ships.

32. Share five must-read fics. (THIS WAS HARD!!!)       At The Toll Bridge by a tattered rose. OUAT. Gremma fic, canon divergent. I love the cadence and the style of this fic so, so much. It’s so lovely and lilted, and on point. It’s got such texture and layer, and makes me want more.      The Good Kind/2 by ygrawn. Heroes. Molly’s POV when Mohinder takes over care after S1. Gosh, this one is beautiful. Such a tangible, relatable child’s perspective of all this craziness that happens, and highlights that beautiful found-family that Mohinder and Molly make.       Innocent by mockingbird39. Roswell. This is back when everything was on their own fanfic boards, and I had to do some digging to find it because it’s buried deep in there. But if there was a place to learn about where I got to my writing now? It’s likely this fic. Beautiful and nuanced … just a gorgeous fic.      I See The Light by la lisboa. Gremma. Is this cheating? I just have such a soft spot for this beautiful fic, and I love that I was able to get little sneak peaks while she was writing. Honestly, though, it is a fantastic fic, and one of the few multichapters finished for this ship (my own fault included there).      And I’ve been agonizing over this list too long, because I was trying to do different fandoms, but: Moats and Boats and Waterfalls by blueink3, because it is That Good. 

33. Name your favorite fanartist(s).      And not just because it’s you, but seriously you are one of them. I love your AUs as much as your canon gifsets, and your coloring is always beautiful.      lonesheep is another, for their beautiful drawings and graphic manips.      …basically all my Gremma people. We have some awesome fanartists in out midst.      I have to give it up to Sleeping Hook fanartists, because they are the only reason I ship it. I feel bad, because I can’t think of names, but basically just all of them.

37. Do you have a favorite trope and/or AU for your OTP?       :D :D :D   Yes. For Gremma, all the babies is my most common fic trope. And I die for forbidden romance Princess AUs, omg.

38. Do you like and use ship names?      Yep. I grew up in fandom with ship names, and while not all of my ships have one that I know of, I use them all the time for the ones that do.

40. If you could change one thing about your OTP, what would that be?      Oh, let me see, MAYBE THAT GRAHAM LIVED AND EVERYTHING WAS OKAY AND THEY HAD LOTS OF SEX AND BABIES???

D - A pairing you wished you liked but you just can’t.

I have plenty of pairings that I dislike but very few that I particularly want to like (I’ve made my bed ha). There are some that I’m not a huge fan of but don’t really consider a NOTP though, like Thommy from Downton Abbey. I’m just chronically indifferent to Jimmy as a character and so the ship doesn’t really appeal to me, which is probably just as well considering its entire purpose in canon was basically to cause Thomas angst.

G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it?

Well I was first introduced to the concept of fic and shipping through LOTR but I’ve never really shipped any of those characters romantically. I think my first proper OTP was Sid Carter x Inspector Sullivan from Father Brown (I think there’s like three other people who ship it as far as I’m aware?) but since the fandom for the show is so tiny and Sullivan disappears mysteriously with no explanation whatsoever (a la Debbie Horsefield with half her minor characters from Poldark s1 & 2), my interest in it kind of waned.

N - Your favourite fanfiction or fanauthor.

For the Poldark fandom, you of course Xx. And it’s a close call between The Old World and Noble Blood.

Y - A fandom that you’re in but have no ships from.

Well the Poldark fandom is the only one I’m regularly active in but I guess I don’t have any ships from the MCU fandom (I’m literally just there for Loki).
