Desde o início o Tarot foi criado para ser uma linguagem baseada em símbolos, em imagens. Quando lemos, nós acessamos partes do nosso cérebro que convertem os conjuntos de letras (palavras, frases) em imagens. Com o Tarot acontece o inverso: nosso cérebro decodifica as imagens e as transformam em palavras. Blessed Samhain!

I felt called to work with the Murder of Crows Tarot deck (artist: Corrado Roi) this evening. It seemed appropriate for Samhain. After all, crows are associated with the underworld and deities associated with death. The crow is also a trickster. I associate crows with both Loki and Lucifer (note: this is my UPG and I'm not going to delve too deeply into that discussion in this post).

I also felt called to work with this deck because I really love the deck.

Now for the reading.

The Tower, Six of Swords, and The Devil

Bottom of the Deck: Ten of Swords

At least one major collapse is coming, if it hasn't already started. It's time to move on from a toxic situation in your life. The energy of the Ten of Swords is backstabbing, betrayal, defeat, etc. And like The Tower, it signifies a time of transition. Regardless of the situation, the message is clear. It's time to move on.

Alternative message: I posted weeks ago about The Devil card and wanted to mention this interpretation of the reading. Some of you are being called to a different path. Possibly a darker path (the Six of Swords in this deck makes me think of a journey to the underworld and the Devil card seems to be confirming a darker path). Something you have been doing was working in the past but no longer serves you, leaving you feeling betrayed. (I mentioned major collapses.) Either way, it's time to embrace your darkness more fully.

Honestly, I'm not sure how many that second message will resonate with, but I'm including it because someone needs to see it.

Happy midsummer!!! ☀️ For the solstice I wasn’t able to go to the fancy party my friend throws every year, so I had my own solo mini celebration instead. It was too cold to go for a hike like I planned (55°F and raining in southern utah in the middle of June??? who cursed me like this?), so I baked a cake, drank some london fogs, drew some tarot cards, and reread one of last summer’s Faerie Magazine issues. Also been getting some crafting done, but it’ll be a while before I will have the results finished enough to start posting... I got a thing!

I found an amazing thing in the store today and couldn't wait to share it with you.

There is a David Bowie tarot set!!!

The artwork is by Davide De Angelis, inspired by the artworks he created for David Bowie. The box itself is amazing. The starman lightning bolt is prominent and where the box opens. I don't know why but I find this just perfect and very unique.

I have had a look at the cards and they look beautiful. I haven't had a chance to spend any time with the deck, however, so I haven't had a close look yet.

I know several people will be very excited by this deck, like I am, so I wanted to share my first impressions with you now.

The box is unique and the art is beautiful, with a 192 page full color accompanying book.

The cards seem to be on a decently thick stock. Close to a basic set of playing cards.

They have no border outside of a black title bar at the bottom of the card.

The cards are not edged. I will probably add a black edge to mine.

The back design is technically not reversible. Yet, at the same time, it is. There is a set orientation to the artwork but it is easily seen. At a glance, you won't be able to tell.

Some cards have been renamed; the fool is now the sacred clown, the alchemist is the starman, etc. I haven't read the book yet to find out the reasoning but this doesn't personally bother me.

So that's my first impression. Even if these cards do not read well for me, I am glad to own them. They are a beautiful set and I am excited to put them to use.
