“autism wouldn’t have been difficult before capitalism” “nothing that caused me burnout existed before industrialization” well what if your boots feel weird against your skin. and your cape is itchy and too heavy. and your brooch keeps making an annoying sound everytime you move and this party is too loud and you’re hungry and there’s pigeon stew but you can’t stand the texture of pigeon so you ate some olives and now your hands feel oily and gross and you drank a little bit too much wine (bc there’s no clear water. also it was too bitter) so now your head hurts and you feel a little hot but not hot enough to take your cape off and you promised this time we leave when I asked, Aurelius! you promised! and don’t forget we still have a three hour ride back home you promised it’s not going to be like last time! or something of the sort.

whoever edited that bsd official art to make it look like chuuya is holding onto dazai’s arm will be put on trial for irrevocably changing my brain chemistry and making me so much worse

the original and the edit in question. this artwork really makes me crave a mid to late 19th century historical au where Chuuya is a swordsman struggling with changes to his job due to the meiji restoration and with Dazai as a detective/private investigator who hires Chuuya as his bodyguard when a seemingly harmless investigation turns dangerous. they kind of hate each other (as per usual) but Chuuya needs the job and Dazai, while he proclaims to dislike chuuya, is also very smitten with chuuya’s fighting style and temper (as per usual).

I'm tired of this generation, I want a man from the 1800's to invite me to a ball and dance with him.

Marzi how did people remove lint before lint rollers? I can't find anything on Google bc it just gives me ads for lint rollers
I think mostly brushing with a stiff clothes-brush? I've found references to devices called lint rollers as far back as 1857, and vintage/antique ones available online seem to have cylindrical brushes inside:

not sure how old this one is, but it has windmills stamped on the outside. cool!
But sticky-tape has been around longer than most people realize; Empress Sisi's hairdresser used to keep some in her skirt pocket to catch the empress' hair that fell out during brushing and combing, because Sisi would freak out if "too much" seemed to be shedding. (Sisi had issues.) At that point I suspect it was a cloth tape with something sticky applied to one side, since plastic wasn't at the "incredibly thin flexible sheets made cheaply" stage yet.
So at least as early as the mid-19th century, some people may have been using something sticky to de-lint clothing.

French Made Ceremonial Dagger from the Mid-19th Century
Described as a dagger for 'esoteric rituals' the dagger features a straight, double-edged blade with a triple fuller, engraved with floral motifs. The bronze hilt is depicting Death wrapped in a mantle and a snake on the quillon. The wooden scabbard is covered in brown velvet with brass mounts decorated with bas-relieved floral motifs.

At left, the type of 1840s man that many people want, looking dashing in his evening costume and with the fashionable barrel chest and defined waist of his breed.
At right, a more typical example of the 1840s man that you will find at discount prices: note the striped trousers, huge paletot coat, and cigar.
This is the difference that proper vetting of your 19th century man can make! Of course, many people are happy with the Gent on the right and will gladly indulge his fashion habits and smoking.
