title: wrap your hands around my soul (and hold it gently, please?)
warning(s): graphic depictions of violence
chapter(s): 1/?
relationship(s): scar/grian/mumbo
summary:
And as he approaches his home, he sees the silhouettes of two people collapsed on his doorstep.
Wings fluffing up in alarm, Grian hurries to approach.
Passed out on the ground are two men, and they appear to be injured. Grian grimaces at the blood that’s spilling into the grass below before turning his attention to the two strangers at his doorstep.
The brown haired one is covered in bruises, and his face is twinged with pain, even in sleep. His arm is at an odd angle, making Grian grimace. Though it's the man’s companion that makes Grian worry. He seems to be bleeding, but Grian can’t tell how bad it is. Not from this angle anyways.
But most importantly, there’s magic radiating from the two of them.
read on ao3 here!

i've seen many raeda pirate aus floating around and I LOVE IT.
the concept itself flows so perfectly?? i have a few ideas that i'd love to brainrot.
old-timey boiling isles, belos is the good ol' tyrant we know and don't love.
raine, hunter, and all the other coven heads are nobles. raine and hunter are caught plotting against the throne by kikimora and exiled for treason (which was considered merciful for belos at that point)
they end up on a stranded island. that's where the two meet eda, luz, lilith, gus (he tagged along) and owlbert (who needs a parrot when you have an owl? - eda)
eda takes mercy on 'em and invites them onboard. they accept reluctantly, knowing that they'll probably die but also being wary of the fact that these are wanted criminals that have pulled off a heist on the throne before.
they go sailing across the ocean and completing quests and heists. eda and raine get closer and closer to each other, while luz and hunter's sibling rivalry begins to bloom as well. suddenly the two former nobles start considering the pirates as family.
i haven't quite developed this idea more from there. i have a concept of the characters but my plotting skills are terrible. amity would definitely be a noble under her mothers control, willow could maybe be her best friend who works as a farmer with her dads?
i'll definitely come back with more ideas on here, but this is all i have!! feel free to leave behind hcs or ideas!!

I love your Peepaw Philip AU but I’ve got a few questions that might or might not have already been answered. (Hopefully they haven’t, I don’t like being a parrot!)
How is the Emperor’s Coven operating? Is the Boiling Isles coven system self-efficient enough without Belos manning the helm?
Is Hunter freaking out about his missing uncle and trying to find him or has he been coerced into a better health schedule by some of the coven scouts (ie Steve) and possibly Darius and Eber and Raine?
Speaking of RED (lol, my little nickname for the three rebellion coven heads), are they investigating Belos’s disappearance?
And my last question - how’s Philip’s interaction with King and Amity? Those two I haven’t seen and loved comics/art of his interacting with them yet and I’m curious how that would all go over.
Hello! Firstly I'd like to apologize for taking a while to reply, I've been a bit busy irl lol. Secondly, it's all cool! I'm always happy to answer questions, and these ones haven't been asked yet (im??pretty sure?? I dont have a good memory pfft) so it's all good haha.
A little warning, both for mention of death (just like off handedly, treated as a possible result of the emperor going splat out the window), and also I'm gonna ramble A LOT, so this will probably be... very, very long. And filled with my bad humor since I cannot control myself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. It's been only a week, maybe less, since I came up with this au so I dont have many solid ideas in place. Everything is open to interpretation!
I've actually been thinking over how the Emperor's Coven, and by extension the coven heads and the boisling isles itself, would react to Belos' predicament. I've written out a few scenarios, roughly plotted out some scenes that would go down between characters, but nothing's really set in stone. Here's what I have so far, but I honestly encourage people to have their own interpretation of what would go down if they wished :)!
So. Belos' epic fail (real not fake) (coven scouts called) via falling out a window was obviously witnessed by some scouts down the hallway, either that or they heard a loudass noise coupled with the Emperor swearing which was totally Not Good. One of the images I'd planned to draw later but didnt get to was one where there was a coven scout (STEVE!!!), Lilith, and Hunter all staring out of the window.
Now on one hand, the coven could come to the conclusion that the Emperor is dead (because who the hell can survive a fall that high + if the emperor survived he "totally would have come back as soon as he could" = emperor is dead oh crap). Hunter would VEHEMENTLY deny this ("He can't! There's no way that could happen!" Followed by him having a rough time of it poor guy).
Either that or they come to the conclusion that this was a kidnapping attempt or soemthing of the like and Belos is missing, which is just as bad. Hunter is still suspicious about that, because /who the hell could be able to kidnap Belos/? Obviously not a human teenager. Cough.
Either way, Lilith, as the head of the emperor's coven at the time (since its early season 1, right before the convention episode too), has to deal with... a lot of things, including dealing with other coven heads, the emperor's coven, and just trying to get things in order in the chaos that came from the emperor's sudden and tragic "death". Still on the fence about if someone in particular takes over his role or if all the coven heads work together (poorly btw they're gonna fight a lot over it), as well as if the general populace is informed about him "peacefully passing away from old age" or his "sudden disappearance" or whatever.
Anyways shes working herself to the bone. Shes got eyebags for days, plus the added stress of the dude who /PROMISED/ to cure her sister of her curse just up and vanishing to who knows where, so shes. Having a rough time.
Hunter is, as I said, not doing well!! In his mind Belos has always been this sort of... untouchable figure, you know? Nobody could hurt him. Now hes missing, and since Belos is his only "family", Hunter is determined to find him, wherever he is.
So then I had this scene written down where Lilith, still wanting a cure for her sister (plus some other things she needs for the coven itself), and Hunter, wanting a clue about his uncle's whereabouts, both decide to. Uh. Break into Belos' quarters and pilfer his shit.
Does he even have quarters canonically? Its so weird thinking of this dude like... legitly sleeping. Like in a BED. Either that or he sleeps on his throne ahdhshava just imagine that. Hes sitting on his throne all day listening to people with his mask on and hes not responding because hes completely OUT behind that thing ahagdhs.
Okay side tangent over. Basically Hunter is sneaking down the hallway, all sneaky like, and he stops by the door. He reaches out to open it, but before he could it opens to reveal lilith, carrying several books that had probably been banned from the public, and they're both staring at eachother.
"I wont tell if you wont."
"Deal."
A few other notes I had detailed a scenario in which Lilith and Hunter either a) work together to carry out the Emperor's will while he's gone (or presumed deceased) or b) investigating into what occured due to their own interests, which eventually winds up with them uncovering the mountain of wtf that the Emperor had hidden. In my notes I wrote down about them potentially meeting the collector because I thought'd it be funny to draw their reactions to them. Fun!
(Also the collector has been around Belos for a while now, just kinda stuck in place. What the hell is he gonna do when the only contact they've had with another person- albeit not a GOOD one, not by a long shot- suddenly disappears???)
As for RED (THATS WHAT THAT MEANT!!! I SAW IT BEFORE IN A FEW FICS AND I WAS SO CONFUSED AHFHSGWGAH ANYWAYS-) they probably get involved later on with this whole mess. At this point of time Raine isnt a coven head- unfortanutely, but they only become one in season 2, and since its season 1 it's up to Darius and Eber instead. I do contemplate if, in this state of chaos, Raine is promoted earlier on so that theres more stability or something,,, idk. I'm still not sure ^^;
Goodness but. This kid. Hunter needs some people to make sure he doesnt wear himself down to the bone just scouring the isles. Imagine if he arrives in places to investigate like RIGHT after Phil leaves the place, both none the wiser. Gah.
Honestly though, I think if anyone would be able to coerce this kid into sleeping a full night's sleep, it'd be Steve. Hes not involved with all this conspiracy-investigatory-drama stuff like all of the other responsible adults in Hunter's life, and he has big brother energy.
Okay, onto King and Amity: I- uh, I'm still figuring things out with these two. Amity is Lilith's personal apprentice (I'm pretty sure? At this point in time at least), and the au begins before her character development really kicks off, so I dont think its until later when she gets to meet Phil and also experiences deja vu "hey your voice is super familiar?" like Eda and Lilith. Just like RED, I'm not sure what to do with Amity yet, unfortunately. I'm open to suggestions/ideas though! :)
As for King, Phil is like... you know cat trees/perches? Yeah. That's what Phil is to King. Hes like an adequate Grandpa, he has some responsible instincts, but hes kind of reserved to being King's personal perch when he wants to feel tall.
Somewhere in my notes I also wrote down the following:
"King and Phil are mysterious origins buddies
King: maybe you were also a malevolent and terrifying (though not as terrifying as me) ruler like I once was?
Phil: hm... no, I dont feel like I would have been a very good ruler"
It was for something I wanted to draw but,,, yet again, I didn't get around to doing lol.
I hope that answers your questions! If you have anything else you might like to ask, or suggestions or things you want to talk about, feel free!
Thank you for your ask!! :D

Traffic Life Witch & Familiar AU
[This post contains a semi-brief and comprehensive breakdown of the Witch & Familiar AU I've been brainstorming, mostly centered around Traffic Life but also incorporating references and nods to Hermitcraft, Empires, and Evo. It all spawned from something Martyn said in Double Life about "not being versed in black magic, only white magic". Hence this AU. Not everything is set in stone but I really love what I've come up with so far! Feel free to put forward other ideas or even write your own one shots with this universe in mind, just be sure to credit me if you do!]
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Martyn is a witch, though he predominately uses white magic. Ren is a wolf familiar, and he's been unbound for a long time, though he does run a shop for enchanting and witchcraft necessities, and he helps Doc with things once in a while. (Doc isn't a witch himself, but familiars have limited magical abilities of their own.) Martyn found Ren a few years ago by sheer chance. When they first met Ren was in his wolf form and heavily injured, near death thanks to the actions of a dark witch who attempted to sacrifice him for the sake of a spell. Martyn coming across the altar was insane luck, and the fact that his magic and Ren's matched almost perfectly was even luckier. Martyn saved his life and it wasn't that long afterward that they bound their magic together. (At some point Martyn started up the Southlands Coven for a while to get some help on an experimental project, alongside a witch named Impulse and a scientist named Mumbo. Mumbo seems human, but Martyn's fairly sure he isn't. Ren was gone for a while during this time so Martyn reached out to a few old Familiar friends, Grian and Jimmy, to help them out on the magic front. The result was a magic-based healing crystal, though when Mumbo accidentally discovered that they were also extremely volatile and blew up half the coven base, the project was abandoned and the Southlands disbanded.)
[Witch/Familiar bonds are powerful and very difficult to reverse. If a witch and a familiar choose to bond it's a bit like a marriage, though not every pairing ends up being romantic. It can be more familial or something akin to platonic soulmates; it's up to the pair in question how they choose to shape their relationship.
Magic bonds are kind of like the Double Life soulbonds, but (1) they're by choice, and (2) when one gets injured, the other only feels the pain but doesn't sustain an actual injury. They share magic more freely than unbound pairs and the resulting spells are far more powerful. Unbound pairs CAN share magic, it just takes more effort and isn't as reliable. I could go into more detail about how magic works in this AU but I'll save that for another day.]
Grian and Scar have a complicated history. Grian's a parrot familiar, and he figured out fairly quickly that he and Scar had near-perfect magical compatibility not long after they met. They were sharing magic by accident without even being bound, something that only happens when a witch and familiar are incredibly compatible, but Scar was a bit oblivious about it for days before Grian finally shoved it right in his face. They aren't bound yet. They almost were, in the past, but after an accident in which Grian, desperate to save Scar's life, drained them both of almost all their magic, Grian panicked a bit over how important Scar had become to him. He ended up taking some time away and working with the Southlands Coven alongside his brother Jimmy, helping with the project they were working on until the coven dissolved later on. Grian and Scar are working together again now, but Grian is endlessly wary about working any powerful spells and even warier to forge a bond with the thought of possibly losing Scar looming over his shoulder. (Scar also calls himself a Wizard, something which both amuses and exasperates Grian to no end.)
Etho and Bdubs were bound, at one point. They actually had a strong magical bond, stronger than most, and they were fiercely protective of each other. (Bdubs might be a phantom or bat familiar? Not sure...still working on this. Ideas welcome.) They used to hunt down dangerous creatures for bounties and for rare potion ingredients, part of a team alongside Tango and Skizz, neither of whom were witches themselves. (Tango is a nether/blaze hybrid and he has fire magic, but hybrids like him aren't exactly capable of having witch abilities so he's never even bothered to try other spellcasting. Skizz has tried but he's completely magicless.) Like I said, Etho and Bdubs were bound...but Etho is a powerful witch and tends to be a bit reckless and experimental with his magic. He's sampled dark spells before. Combined with the insanely strong bond he had with Bdubs, it spelled trouble. A few spells went wrong, one of them backfiring and making Bdubs go dark and attack Tango, and another summoning a demonic creature called a Wither in the middle of their home. The backlash from defeating the Wither broke their bond, and while they did entertain the idea of reforging it, they both decided maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to try and find other bounds for now. They're still close friends and quite loyal to each other.
Etho ended up finding and befriending a dog(?) familiar named Joel, who he found out was already married to another familiar named Lizzie. (Lizzie is either some kind of mer-familiar, which is rare, or something feline. Up for debate on this one.) Etho and Joel are contemplating forging a bond at the moment, though they haven't quite decided yet. They're both prone to chaos and magical experimentation, though because they bond is slightly weaker than what Etho had with Bdubs, Etho's not quite as worried about what might happen if they were bound.
Bdubs knew Impulse long before he and Etho were even bound, though at the time Impulse (a witch) hadn't been interested in bonding with a familiar. He would often bounce between familiars for help, paying them to help with a few spells now and again, but none ended in lasting partnerships of any kind. (It was during this time that he joined the Southlands Coven to assist Martyn with his healing experiment.) When Bdubs' bond with Etho broke, Impulse reached out to Bdubs to ask for help with something, and they found that their magic aligned really well. They were highly compatible, and while Bdubs was hesitant to bond with someone else so soon after Etho, he and Etho talked it out and Etho expressed that he didn't mind. (Not entirely true, he missed the old bond, but he knew someone else would be better for Bdubs to bond with, and he knew that Impulse was a quality guy. Impulse wouldn't abuse the bond the way some less friendly witches might.) Bdubs and Impulse are only recently bound, and they've got a proclivity for nature spells, something Etho never really cared about but which Bdubs has always had a natural affinity for.
Now, Scott and Cleo...and Jimmy. This one's an interesting story. Cleo is a snake familiar and Jimmy is a canary. (Jimmy and Grian are brothers, both from a family of avian familiars, and Grian tends to be a bit protective of his younger brother...though we'll touch on that later.) Cleo was Scott's first bound familiar. Scott's family tends to walk the line between light and dark magic, meaning he's got a proclivity for both...but instead of staying gray, his twin brother Xornoth went fully dark. He was corrupted by the dark magic that he was delving into. There was a massive conflict that arose between the twins, a fight, and Cleo was killed in the fallout. A broken bond between two living people is a little painful, but it can heal. A broken bond caused by the death of one half of the pair? That leaves a scar. That's intertwined magic torn apart abruptly and it leaves an ache, a void. So Scott, in his desperation to fill that void, turned to necromancy. It wasn't a far leap, seeing as his bloodline already dabbled in certain dark magics, but necromancy is the kind of thing that takes power. So Scott sought out a new temporary familiar to help with his endeavors...and found Jimmy. Jimmy, who was rooted so firmly in light magic that he could act as an anchor to keep Scott from getting corrupted like his brother. Now, Jimmy knew going in what he was signing up for...a temporary bond that would be broken later. (Grian warned him that it was a terrible idea, but Jimmy had seen the pain in Scott's eyes and couldn't turn him down when he asked for help. Jimmy had lost Grian before, even if it wasn't by death, and he couldn't imagine what losing a bound felt like.) No, Jimmy knew what he was getting himself into. What he hadn't anticipated was for him and Scott to gain romantic feelings for each other. To start a relationship. A magical bond is a commitment already, so teasingly calling each other "husband" came naturally. And even if they were both working toward reviving Scott's lost bound, it was nice to have each other in the meantime.
At some point, Scott hired another witch, Pearl, to help them both. Pearl's lineage was predisposed to darker magic, even if she didn't enjoy it, and she wanted to try and use her family's curse for good. So between the three of them they managed to bring Cleo back to life...mostly. She wasn't quite as alive as she had been before, but she was still living, and that was what mattered. Of course, with Cleo being back, that meant Scott and Jimmy had to break their bond, per the agreement...but Jimmy was reluctant to reverse it. He knew what he had promised, but...he had come to love his witch, even if Scott would never really be "his". They did end up breaking the bond, and Scott promised him they could still be together romantically because Scott and Cleo's bond was a familial one more than anything else. That didn't make it hurt less.
Jimmy and Scott ended up parting ways on melancholy terms later on, and Pearl was unintentionally shunned by the now-bonded Scott and Cleo not long after. It wasn't her fault that her family's magic was a bit corrupted, but it still affected the spellcasting of those near her, which made for not-so-great results when Scott attempted to do even basic magic. So Pearl left.
(It was later on that Martyn and Ren introduced Pearl to a dog familiar named Tilly who Pearl had remarkable compatibility with. Once bonded, Tilly was able to reign in the darkness in Pearl's magic, something nobody else had been capable of doing before. Grian had tried, once, as they had been childhood friends and were briefly bonded years ago, but they just hadn't been compatible enough for him to help.)
Bdubs and Cleo were close prior to her initial death. They studied magic together alongside Cleo's close friend, Joe. (A witch who dabbled in strange and archaic magics.) When Cleo died Bdubs wanted nothing more than to blame Scott for it all, but all it took was seeing how absolutely torn up and heartbroken and pained Scott was over the whole thing to change his mind. It was Scott's brother who was to blame, not Scott, and Scott had already defeated Xornoth by the time Bdubs had even heard of Cleo's death. It still hurt to see Scott for a long while after, but he didn't blame him...and when Scott managed to use necromancy to revive Cleo, Bdubs was torn between being grateful and overjoyed at having his friend back and being a bit horrified by what Scott had had to do to accomplish that feat.
Jimmy met Tango at some point after leaving Scott, and at some point after Team BEST had broken apart. (It was also during that time that Jimmy and Grian joined the Southlands Coven, with both brothers having left their respective witches for different reasons and needing a reprieve and some family time together.) When he first met Jimmy, Tango had been on a hunt, still making money as a hunter seeing as he specialized in wrangling strong magical creatures. Jimmy, in a foolish move, had gone into a nearby forest to hunt down some potion ingredients alone, and had gotten cornered by a Ravager. He had panicked, been attacked, had injured his wing, and he'd been sure he wouldn't make it out alive - but then Tango jumped in out of nowhere. He managed to calm the Ravager and send it away before turning to Jimmy in a panic, babbling apologies about letting his Ravager get loose when he wasn't paying attention. It didn't take much to figure out Jimmy was a familiar, and he was quick to bring Jimmy back to his temporary shelter to help him heal in any way he could. It was Jimmy who recognized how compatible their magic was, and Jimmy who commented on it, only for Tango to scoff and stare at him incredulously because - well he was a nether hybrid, wasn't he? He couldn't be a witch.
Except, of course, he was one, he had just never bothered to wonder if it was possible. Impulse was a witch, but their friend Zed wasn't, and Tango had always sat somewhere in between, with nether flames at his core and a proclivity for engineering keeping his hands busy. Perhaps it was Tango's nether origins that stopped Impulse from even realizing the magical potential his friend possessed. It wasn't until he met Jimmy that Tango even realized what he could do, and after that it was a bit of a crash course in magic that led to Jimmy helping Tango use his untapped power to heal Jimmy's wing. They forged a bond by complete accident, something that Jimmy apologized for profusely, but Tango was too thrilled by the entire situation to really mind. Besides, they got along like a house on fire. In his opinion it felt a bit like fate that they'd found each other.
(And then Tango figured out Jimmy was Grian's brother, and, oh, he was sure he'd be on the receiving end of a shovel talk at some point in the future.)
[And for a little more backstory]
Grian and Jimmy grew up in a place called Evolution, where they met and befriended Martyn and Pearl and Big B. (Big B isn't a witch or a familiar, just a very good friend.) At one point Martyn and Jimmy had thought they might end up bound to each other with how well they got on, but it just never ended up happening. And when they were older they both met people who had even greater compatibility with their magic, so it wasn't like either of them complained. Grian and Pearl though - well. Pearl was as good as a sister to Grian growing up, though most folks in town warned off getting too close to her. Her lineage held stories of dark magic, cursed magic, of magic gained by demon deals and sacrifices. None of it was Pearl's fault, of course, probably someone two or three generations back in her ancestry - but it didn't make her any less "cursed". Grian didn't care. They were bound when they were young, just for a little while, but Grian never managed to help her tame the dark magic in her veins.
When they were in their teens, a dark coven known as the Watchers descended upon their town in search of powerful magic users, powerful witches of course, but more importantly powerful familiars. A smaller coven known as the Listeners came in to discreetly evacuate any magical in the vicinity, but they didn't manage to get there before Grian was taken by the Watchers. Grian, of course, wasn't one to just submit to the whims of assholes like the Watchers, so he made every second of his captivity as difficult for his captors as possible. It took him almost a year to escape, and when he did the only reason they didn't manage to track him down again was thanks to a nonmagical person who came across him, injured and exhausted in the woods...Mumbo. Mumbo was part of a mostly-magical community who called themselves Hermits, a mix of hybrids and witches and familiars and ordinary humans who had come together, in the beginning, out of a need for safety. Now they're more like a family. Their founder, Xisuma, was a powerful but unknown white witch who tended to take in anyone who needed help. It wasn't a coven, he insisted, just a shelter...and it offered Grian the safety and protection he needed to get back on his feet and find Jimmy and Pearl and Martyn again.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
[I'm not entirely sure on the familiar forms for Joel and Lizzie and Bdubs. I picked canine for Joel because of the army of dogs in Third Life, but that can be changed if someone has a better idea! Lizzie' is up for debate, as is Bdubs. I don't think I want him to be a glare, hence phantom or bat, but I'm open to other options too. I thought about an owl briefly. All I know is I want it to be smaller because of the height gag lol.]

Toh Human Au but it’s super random facts that the discord server came up with
(ft. direct quotes from the convo)
// (cw mention of religious cults)
Ty to the server peopoe for helping me with this, cw for oddly long chihuahuas
Darius takes yoga and is addicted to coffee. He has the most expensive expresso machine you’ll ever see.
Eda runs a tattoo shop?? More likely than you think
Kikimora used to be head of security at an amusement park but was demoted to an unenthusiastic ride operator
Raine is a music teacher at the local school, also gives out violin lessons through craigslist before they were hired to be on the town council
Belos is the mayor, Coven heads are the town council
Eda lives in the neighborhood but because of property lines, she’s the only house that doesn’t have to be in the Hoa and that infuriates everyone on the council/Hoa because she makes it a point to flaunt every rule she doesn’t have to follow of theirs
Luz ran away from home but got very lost and was lucky enough to stumble upon eda while she was restocking on inks
Warden Wrath started as chief of police but was demoted to a traffic cop
Terra, Hettie, and Vitimir own a medicinal pot shop together. - Running a drug smuggling ring on the side with Raine as their mule. So long as they cooperate, they won’t hurt Eda or any of the kids
Belos is the head of a cult
Hunter was immersed in said cult
Darius works in the fashion industry, and Eber is a non-verbal zookeeper who uses sign language (Darius knows sign, and Hunter learns it later on)
Odalia and Alador were an arranged marriage at eighteen, they had the twins soon after
Luz snuck off the bus on the way to summer camp and accidentally ended up in the town of Bonesburough
The haqsquad (Eda, Lilith, Alador, Odalia, Darius, Raine and Perry) are all around thirty here
Caleb was introduced to the town through Eveyln, and soon started investing and helping out with it a lot. Phillip didn’t like that. When Caleb became mayor he killed both Caleb and Evelyn, inheriting the position as mayor.
Caleb and Evelyn also had a baby boy, who Belos raised to be his right hand man. That boy was Darius’ mentor (who we’ve named Jasper)
Jasper went on to have Hunter, and then Belos killed Jasper and his lover, raising Hunter aswell.
Willow owns bees
Luz and Hunter met when they both went to care for a wounded bird, Hunter took in the bird and they became friends
Hunter was sent to many camps worshipping the titan (human au god), and believed everything. He wasn’t allowed to have the internet, or any books or stuff not regulated by Belos. Except one of the council members gave him a secret phone because they felt bad.
Odalia and Alador are weapons dealers
Hagsquad all went to a religious school together, but Eda drifted away from the ideals. She’s now wanted for tax evasion.
Hooty (we couldn’t rlly decide on this one,) is a parrot/overeager dog/slinky from toy story/a really long chihuahua/a weird cousin
Edit: we’ve decided he’s a pomeranian
Osran is a well renowned psychic, or maybe a priest
Odalia drinks wine regularly
“hunters that weird kid who spends all his time at the library and animal shelter, probably a volunteer and gives everything he earns right back to his uncle. nobody knows what's going on with him. he's prolly that one kid who acts kike such a dickhead, definitely acting out because he can't at home. yknow”
Lilith used to be a council member, but then was fired because of (something we couldn’t figure out), Hunter took over her seat on the council
16yo super religious government official lmao
Possible reasons Lilith got fired:
1. Electoral fraud
2. The petrification’t
3. Maybe embezzlement charges
Darius being the only one on the council to actually do something by passively pointing out the red flags to hunter - he was the one to complain the most about hunter being part of the council "belos he can't even vote or drive on his own 💀"
Hunter is a sweetheart so he wants to help the animal regardless. he visits Luz a few times and she keeps reading and doing things very much against his rules. and she's just "?????" whenever he starts saying shit abt the cult place he's in
Mason runs a construction business, and adding in the hc that Steve and Matt are his sons, Matt helps out with the shop and Steve works for mayor Belos
Ruler’s Reach and Cosmic Frontier were the first non-Belos approved media Hunter consumed
Graye runs the local theater company
It's failing miserably cause ppl keep dropping out due to attitude
He acts all high and mighty just because he had a few background roles in some tv show and now thinks he knows everything about the field of acting and pretends to have all these big connections
now he only gets hired for ads and bad ads at that, like constipation pills
Well i think they wouldn’t like it but it’s the only theater thing in town and they produce good stuff in the end so they can’t leave. That’s my explanation for how he stays rich enough to be on the town council
I was just thinking he was old money/a highly spoiled trust fund kid XD, I love this though
“Wait until my parents hear about this!”-Young Graye multiple points through his life
I kinda want to add in the Hettie is his aunt hc and that’s how he was recommended to the council in the first place
Emerald Entrails is a Roller derby team
If Jasper (Darius’ mentor and Caleb’s son), had Hunter at like 18-19 then Darius would’ve been like 18-19 when they knew each other since Hunter is 16 and Darius is 30 in this au
Belos is some crusty old man
This next one i just had to add in
oh also I thought of sth, since this is about traditional religious stuff, odalia won't be able to be doing her girlbossing tbh. or any of the women but we can kinda ignore that for the sake of plot
We make our own cult with our own rules
Good shut her up /hj
...two types of people
Bonus: Maddie & Davey sum up the human au convo
Davey: cult, chihuahuas, murder, arranged marriages, misogyny, hunter is the nephew of a really weifd mayor whos deeply religious and the coven heads are town council
Maddie: Yeah that basically sums it up
Davey: also edas a tattoo artist on the outskirts of town girlbossing
Maddie : And Eber uses sign language
Davey: maybe part of the reason edas so judged is bc not only is she a tattoo artist speaking out against the cult, but shes a WOMAN with a BUISNESS
Maddie: Terra Hettie and Vitimir sell crack
Maddie: to raine
Davey: once again, two VERY different conversations
Maddie: And Adrian is a spoiled rich kid with a theater business
Maddie: He wears a clip on tail /hj
Everfree: Terra S is the karen who yells at kids for dumb shit
Kenz: Adrien is a furry confirmed

It's that time again where I try making an AU of two different things I really like. This time, it's the QSMP and the Owl House. It's rambling time 🏃
Firstly; this'll mainly be focused around Phil, Chayanne, Tallulah, and sorta Missa and Wilbur (they last two are both gone so much orz god damn), as I mainly watch Phil's streams and don't know if I could do the other Eggs or islanders justice.
Secondly; I was a lil' mixed about how to incorporate the Eggs into the AU. As on one hand, it would be fun to have them be lil' Titan kids. While on the other hand, they could also be just straight up orphans that gets assigned some witches to take care of them + teach them magic outside of school.
Now, to begin with, Phil is obviously a wild magic witch. He straight up has that Bad Girl Coven vibe, and no one can convince me otherwise. Also, his palisman would ofc be a crow. And as an extra side note to give a lil' angst; Phil having the curse- like Eda and Lilith has- but does his best to hide it from everyone. Sadly, that gets hard to control during the "kids are missing" arc :)
As for Missa, I could potentially see them as either maining Oracle, Potions, and/or Abomination magic. Although, a nice lil' idea could be Missa maining Potions magic, gets paired up with Phil to take care of Chayanne, learns after a bit from Phil that he has that curse, and then Missa does all he can to learn that specific elixir he needs and make as many of it for Phil as he can. His palisman could potentially be a cat that's perhaps themed around (or just straight up is made out of) skulls/bones.
Obviously, Wilbur would be maining Bard magic, and his palisman would be some sort of bird (like maybe a magpie, or some sort of parrot, or something. Not sure yet, but he definitely made his palisman with the help of Phil). If we go down the route that the Eggs are [witch] orphans instead of Titan kids, I could see Wilbur trying to learn Plant magic due to Tallulah.
Speaking of which, if we go down the route I wrote about above, then Tallulah would first be maining Bard magic, then Plant magic, and lastly Beast Keeping magic. Her palisman could be something like a hummingbird.
And lastly, Chayanne would obviously try being like Phil and do all sorts of wild magic. But after the nightmare incident, he would try maining Healing magic and either Plant, Construction or Abomination magic for a while. For his palisman, I'm a little unsure. My brain's going between him having a lil' griffin ('cause mix of a cat and a bird), to some sort of bird breed, to him carving an egg (like Luz) and letting the palisman choose what they're going to be.
That's about it for my thoughts on this AU atm. Not sure if I'll do anything with it, just wanted to write about it I guess :'>

CHAPTER 1: The First Lesson
There are only three lessons you should never forget, kiddo…
The voice faded away like a thin fog vanishing from your view, and you couldn’t help but wonder why your sub-conscience felt the urge to remind you about it every single day of your life. You fluttered your fingers ─intertwined on top of your chest─ beginning to regain your consciousness over your body, feeling every inch of your form wake up along with your mind before you slowly opened your eyes to fix your gaze on the ceiling.
At the age of seventeen, you should be used to have this same dream over and over again ─ as if your brain was some kind of broken parrot, who couldn’t stop replaying it on your mind every night ─ but you weren’t, and you didn’t really feel like you would ever be.
The ceiling looked like the usual: Woody and leafy, as you liked to define.
You didn’t need to look around to know exactly what it looked like because, for seventeen years of your life, you woke up in the exact same spot. You lived in the exact same place. You interacted with the exact same people. You lived the exact same life. You had the exact same dream. You heard the exact same voice. You learned exactly… Well, at least you learned different things over your life.
And again, none of those answered your questions.
You felt your sweat dripping slowly from your forehead; all your body burnt as if you were baking something all day long ─ except you weren’t ─, and at this point, you weren’t even surprised anymore. Every day you woke up like this: Dripping sweat and burning fever.
The Coven swore to you that you weren’t sick.
It was just Nature manifesting itself.
You never saw Nature manifesting like this on any of your fellow members.
You knew it had something to do with your dream but you couldn’t completely understand it. The scenes were blurry ─just like when you’re crying and the tears make it impossible to discern anything before your eyes ─, and the voices that surrounded you were loud and incomprehensive enough to confuse you to the core. The only thing you could really point out was that at the center of whatever place it was and surrounded by the crowd, something was consumed by the flames.
It was easy enough to assume that something had a name…
It was only logical to assume that the voices resumed the existence of that something ─ who was indeed a someone ─ in the only thing they could understand; chanting it in a tone filled with hatred and fear… You could only assume that the nameless figure who was engulfed by the flames ─ the only discernable thing in your dream, a bright orange-ish dance that emanated all the warmth that you felt burn your body at night─ was being called a witch.
   Just like you.
You couldn’t even count the times you woke up afraid of being that nameless figure burning down on that stake… You couldn’t even count the times that you prayed for Nature to protect you like She had protected so many of yours… You couldn’t even count the times that you wished your undiscovered power wasn’t premonitory… You couldn’t even count the times you asked for The Elders to take this away from you.
   Yet, They couldn’t.
Nature wants you to live with it, They said.
   Pretty convenient.
“Do you need me to throw cold water on you or will you raise that butt by yourself?” The door shoot open as the old lady ─ also known as your grandma─ opened all the windows with a flick of her hand. The wood slammed on more wood, sounding loud and clear into your head, and all the brightness of the day got to your eyes, hurting them “I’ll give you three seconds!” She chanted, walking around the space, and picking up things around.
   She was loud as hell.
You would expect an old lady like her to be really slow and quiet, maybe feel a lot of pain and complain a lot.
Actually, one of those could be checked.
   She complained a whole lot.
“And three!” She snapped her fingers.
You felt the mattress whip under you ─ twitching in a way that projected your body out of it─, making you yelp as your body raised in the air, limbs floundering around as you waited for her to do something to prevent you from falling to the ground. You raised your voice as you yelled, eyes widening and heart bursting out in your chest, feeling despair wash over you as your body began to make its way to the ground.
“And two!” She snapped her fingers again, sounding giggly as she did it, and you made a mental note to make a hell out of her life by the end of the day.
The vines that hung from your ceiling came to life, tangling over your limbs to pick you up right before you hit the ground. They lifted your body enough to get you to her eye level, and she grinned at you, looking harmless as her eyes molded into crescents. You shot her a scorn grimace, waiting for her to give the order, so the vines would peacefully place you to the ground. She took one step back, taking the bucket she had under her arms and smiling brightly at you before snapping her finger, a coil of fluids forming of thin air to fill it up.
   Oh, boy.
“And one!” She sang before jolting the bucket and hitting your face with cold water. You shut your eyes, mouth agape as you felt the drops rolling down your face, the cold feeling penetrating your skull and waking you up completely “Let’s go, we have a lot to do today!” She dropped the bucket with a loud thud before clapping her hands twice, turning her back to you and heading to the door.
“A little hand here?!” You yelled as she disappeared from your view, and her head came back into your view, peeking over the doorframe slyly. You waved your arms in the air, gesticulating to yourself and tightening your lips, suggestively looking at her, so she would realize you were still stuck on there.
“Oh, right!” She chuckled dismissively “Vivi, let her go, Sweetheart!” She said friendly, and the vines ─ Vivi, as they were called─ promptly dropped you to the ground. You hit the floor with a loud thud, arms preventing your face to smash on the floor, raising your head to glare at your grandmother.
“Really?!” You whined, yelling so she could hear you after disappearing again behind the doorframe. You rolled over your back, watching as the vines retracted to the ceiling, adorning the wooden beam there “Well, thank you, Vivi!” You sneered but they didn’t give you any attention, tangling over the wood and resting peacefully.
“What is all that commotion?” You tilted your head back, taking into your view an upside down Chan framed by the door “Again?” He giggled, dimples digging his face as he approached you, extending his hand for you to take. You took it gratefully, standing up with his help and dusting off your clothes, trying to look presentable enough.
The blond warlock didn’t seem to mind your soaked self or your sticky hair to your face, keeping his smile as if he didn’t even notice the mess you looked like right now. He ruffled your wet hair, chuckling as you shrank embarrassed, before he raised his index finger, spinning it around. The warm and soft air jet that twirled from his fingertip slowly dried out your hair and clothes, and you took the opportunity to fix them once again.
“This is so cool!” He chirped “I never thought I would have this honor” He sighed, satisfied.
Chan was an expert among the few Warlocks you had at The Coven. It was general knowledge that magic manifestation in natural forms ─ such as elemental spells ─ was uncommon for Warlocks but there he was, playing with the warm air. No one believed him when ─ at the age of nineteen, only halfway through his witchcraft studies ─ Chan said he learned to use some basic air spells.
It had been a week and he had yet to grow used to the idea.
Although some of the others related his abilities to the fact that he was the grandson of The Airy Elder, you didn’t agree with them. None of the others could make spells, and some of the Warlocks, such as Changbin, were grandsons of other Founders too. The fact was that Chan had a pure soul; pure enough for Nature herself to grant him the honor to hold her power.
You may be a little biased, though.
“First, stop flattering yourself!” You joked, pushing him lightly, getting a giggle out of him “Second, I was totally going to get up!” You defended yourself, which he dismissed with a knowing look that made you blush. You cleared your throat ─ a vain attempt to hide how your heart drummed inside your chest ─, feeling embarrassment wash over you at the mere thought of your painfully obvious crush being there for anyone to see.
It was especially uncomfortable to know that Chan had a great hearing.
The young Warlock specialty was to hear the soul and heart’s voices.
At this point, you could just deafen him just by your heartbeat.
“Oh?” He blurted out, arching his brows as he shot a look to the ceiling. You followed his gaze to meet a small bird flying around in a spiral right on top of you two. He extended his finger in a twig-like gesture that invited the tiny creature to approach him, which it did. The bird landed on his finger, fleeting and tilting its head to glance at both of you, blinking rapidly. You stared at it curiously, tilting your head to the side, and it funnily mimicked you.
Stop flirting around and come help me, you ungrateful child!
You rolled your eyes when your Grandma’s voice sounded through its opened beak, embarrassed. Chan seemed to find it funny enough, though, because soon he was in stitches, holding his stomach as his laughter sounded like jingling bells. The bird flew off right after, startled by his sudden motion, letting you and the amused boy by yourselves once more.
He recomposed himself, wiping a tear from his eyes and chuckling before looking softly at you and gesture to the door, accompanying you out of the cottage. You closed the door behind you ─ rubbing your arm awkwardly as you averted your eyes ─, trying to figure something cool to say that could cover up all the embarrassing moments before. He took it in the wrong way, though, taking off his coat and covering your shoulders with it, throwing you a warm smile.
“Oh, no! There is no need for such a thing!” You rushed to say, trying to take out his clothes. He grabbed your shoulders, squeezing them lightly before chuckling. You glanced at him coyly and he patted your shoulders, fixing his gaze somewhere behind you before leaning closer to your ear, his breathy giggle fluttering some hair strands on your temples.
“Keep it… Who knows how many surprises she holds for you?” He whispered, turning you around to look at your impatient Grandma, tapping her foot on the ground. He pushed you lightly, waving goodbye when you threw a look over your shoulder before picking up your pace to reach the upset Elder.
                                                                       /////
The trees' crown rustled, allowing the thin light beams to dance on the ground.
The gleam caught your eyes for a split of a second, bringing a content smile to your face as you felt the warmth of the woods impregnate your body; the blowing wind inciting you to spin around with the dancing trees. You fluttered your limbs in a dainty motion ─ spiraling once while feeling the breeze dance along with you ─, connecting yourself with every single living creature around for just a brief moment, enough to bring you to tears.
The moment was overwhelming and you felt your heart swell before the gentle breeze and calming tune that came from the deepest parts of the woods shattered in small pieces right before you. The silence that came along was overbearing. It was like every single one of the creatures mourned and yet gloated, choosing to retire themselves for a while; a suffocating hollowness falling to the woods.
The sudden gale hit you like a slap, pushing your body backward before spiraling around you ─ and you around ─, bringing altogether thousands of voices that didn’t seem to belong to anyone, and yet seemed to belong to everything. You shot your head up, eyes roaming around the woods as you tried to spot whoever was the source of such powers, but meeting no one to the sight. The whispers resounded in your mind, bewildering you, and the mix of voices buzzed to your ears before dying out gradually.
Nature allows you to be who you truly are… Never turn your back on her
The First Lesson was chanted by a soft voice brought by the wind, a voice that soon enough fell silent again; just like the woods. You roamed your eyes around ─ urging to make sense out of the suspicious situation ─, noticing how the animals hid far from the sight, a less than best-case-scenario for your hunting.
The silence was broken once more by the wind itself, a sourceless yowling blown into your ears, making you snap your eyes to the side, startled. Once again, no one was in sight. You had this odd feeling in your gut, like an intruder just came into your home, and the bitterness that grew on your tongue prompted you to grunt, sharp eyes darting between the trees.
“Reveal yourself!” You demanded, head swiveling but meeting nothing but the forest before you. The wind blew again, whispering through the leaves, and this time you followed its flow cautiously, eyes attentive to every single flutter you caught in the way. It faded away just like this, without a path for you to follow, and you groaned in frustration.
What ─ in the name of the Goddess ─ was happening here?
“H-Help…” Your ears perked up, eyes shooting to your left “P-please…” It was a small voice, undoubtedly owned by a human, and the realization made you shiver. You closed your eyes for a few seconds, sighing as you pondered what to do. Should you pretend you didn’t hear it?
The wind blew again, violent, as a not so silent warning.
You tsked, sighing before slinking through the trees for a few minutes until you spotted the boy on the ground, curled up. He seemed to be young ─maybe around your age─, dark hair stuck to his sweaty skin and eyes unfocused, roaming around. There was no doubt that his intoxicated figure ─pale skin, delusional eyes, and dry lips─ were caused by the one thing that had your hands tied: The River.
As much as you pitied his agonizing end, he deserved it.
You would never forget the day when all of the younger ones ─ such as yourself─ joined to ask The Elders why you couldn’t go into the woods like the older witches and warlocks, upset that you couldn’t do anything for The Coven.
You would never forget the way your Grandma looked at you ─ letting the pain wash over her features right in front of your eyes─ before averting her gaze to the horizon, a stern and distant self that seemed to look directly to the past as if she could see everything unraveling right before her eyes.
“The Humans… They were cruel to us” You remembered her saying “They tortured us over the years in ways that I wouldn’t dare to tell you kids in details… The Coven is protecting you from them and you should listen to us because no one else out there will care for you as we do” Her answer wasn’t satisfactory for any of you, so you whined, prepared to make a commotion. She stomped the ground ─a loud roar echoing from under her foot─ and looked at each of you with a steel-cold gaze.
“Take a look at those” She raised her feet, exposing burn scars all over the sole, making all of you gasp in unison “I was captured by The Humans ages ago… Before The Coven was even founded... I and tons of other witches were tortured for being what we are… Women. They hate us and persecute us. They wanted us dead…”
“They restrained us to the point we couldn’t feel our own blood running through our veins… The blood that connects us to this Nature… Some of us lost our hands or our feet… Some of us lost our lives at this point… It didn’t really matter to them” The pause revealed a suffocating silence but none of you dared to interrupt her rewind, keeping your breaths withhold “The ones who survived were already deprived of water, food, or light… We had only ourselves, our voices, our hope, and our faith with us. We didn’t even have clothes, as they stripped us and let us freeze to death. Some of us did. Some of us didn’t”
“The ones that still survived all that were beaten up to the ground… Battered to the point they couldn’t even bear to stand up and fell dead right there, in front of our eyes… I wish I could say it was just it… Just once… They selected some of us to go to the woods, to let us have the chance to survive” She scoffed, looking away “The ones that weren’t selected were allowed to drink some water before going through all that over again… And again… And again… They had us for about three weeks” Her eyes teared up, and you still had the urge to cry until today whenever you remembered her broken voice.
“When my time to go to the woods came, I discovered we weren’t simply thrown in the woods… No, we had to bear with our bare feet the red-hot soil under tender skin… Dehydrated… Starved… Ruined… I almost wished they could only burn me down at the stake. They didn’t. All of the survivors were marked for their lives… Not only here” She pointed out to her temples “But in a way that they could identify us in the future…” She raised her feet.
“They said the ones who survived were witches and the ones who didn’t weren’t… So we couldn’t have any winners. It didn’t matter if you survived or not. It didn’t matter if we were witches or not. All of us somehow deserved to be dead…” She looked at you filled with sadness and regret before she averted her eyes, ashamed “They even poisoned the river… They knew the first thing we would do was to look for water, drink to relieve the dryness of our soul and body… And so did tons of us… Especially the younger or the least experienced ones… The exhausted souls that couldn’t think of purifying the water anymore… Who couldn’t handle it” She sighed, lowering her head “All dead”
It wasn’t out of vanity that The Coven enchanted the river.
The first thing they thought you at the age of fourteen was how to purify water so it would be safe to drink from the river; so you wouldn’t be killed by the cruelness that flowed through its waters if they ever did it again. The enchantments and spells threw all around the place were the only way to protect all of you from them… The only way you could afford to have somewhere to survive. The only way that you could be yourselves.
If it meant the death of some meddling humans… Let it be.
They killed you enough for regret to wash over your souls.
The River now was a symbol of your rebellion, of your power and urges to live… It was also the symbol of all the deceased witches you had because of their cruelties. It was the blood that ran through your veins. It was the magic that imbued your souls and body.
The magic that ran through the body of this unaware guy struggling right in front of your eyes… The magic you couldn’t undo even if you wanted to…. He was a lost cause. You turned your back to him, ready to go back to your hunting and leave him behind, but one broken sentence was enough to make you stumble over your feet.
“I don’t want to die all alone…” He cried, holding his throat tightly in despair.
Never turn your back on her…
You sighed before approaching him, sitting right beside him before taking his hand into yours. He shot his eyes at you, startled at the sudden presence, and you made your best to throw him a gentle smile even though you could see his face slowly swelling up as he suffocated right in front of your eyes.
“The river is flowing… Flowing and growing… The river is flowing down to the sea…” You chanted, caressing his hair gently “Mother, carry him… Your child He’ll always be… Mother, carry him… Down to the sea…” You wiped his sweat, opening your canteen to give him some water to placate his thirst, wetting your hand before carefully rubbing your palms over his face.
You could feel how the woods sang along with you, the soft rustles of the leaves following your tune, and birds tweeting to the rhythm. You felt your heart swelling, connecting to your surroundings once again, and even his heartbeat seemed to sing along with Nature for a split of a second.
The attuned orchestra was interrupted by his muttering ─ soft voice under his breath─, something impossible to comprehend that made you nod anyway. You kept your smile firm on your lips to reassure him in his last moments, hoping that Nature could have some mercy on him. He tried to hum along with you ─ like he was tempted to pray before his end but could only follow your lead ─, and even though his rattling lungs couldn’t keep up with your chant, you slowed down a bit, getting a single grateful tear from his eyes.
The emotional moment was broken by his strangled gasps ─a desperate attempt to breathe normally─, and you made sure to avert your eyes to look straight ahead. You shouldn’t witness his moment of weakness like this. You squeezed his hand to reassure him, to remind him that he wouldn’t die by himself, and as soon as he squeezed back ─ as strong as he could, trying to get your attention─, you obliged yourself to return your gaze to him.
“K-Kim Seungmin” He struggled to say, sharp intakes of breath hinting he wouldn’t last much longer.
“I’ll let your family know” You lied, bringing his head to your lap so he could feel more comfortable, allowing a little bit of air to get to his lungs. He tried to nod, and you averted your eyes again, looking into the woods to distract yourself.
   And distracted you got.
The scene that met your eyes was, to say the least, amusing; your Grandma strode in your way, staff floundering in the air as she approached the guy in a rush. She took a look at him, musing before shoving some herbs inside his mouth out of nowhere, gripping his jaw in a way to force him to munch it.
You looked at her startled but utterly ignored as she snapped her fingers over and over again.
“Come on, young man” She said in her best elder lady voice you had ever heard “Gulp it down so you won’t die” She instructed, snapping her fingers to get his attention. Except it wasn’t the case. You could almost feel the frisson around his body as she kept snapping it over and over again, drawing circles in the air. The heavy layer of magic covered him like a blanket.
He gulped down before you heard a sharp intake of breath ─ one that signalized he could really breathe right now─ and he gasped, again and again, feeling the air burn his lungs as he coughed for dear life. His torso snapped up, hand meeting his throat as he tried to recompose himself, practically back from the dead, eyes roaming around the place.
The purple that once painted his face dissolved into a more healthy color and flushed cheeks. You took a better look at his face, warm brown hair hiding his forehead and dark eyes that were big as saucers for the moment, completely taken aback by his luck. He had just survived. He opened his mouth a couple of times, and you couldn’t help but notice how red his lips were right now, and also exceptionally well-shaped.
“Don’t talk right now” She advised, taking the canteen from your hand “Drink this… You must be thirsty” She said kindly, adjusting the object so she could allow him to drink some of the water inside it. He took large gulps, eyes overflowing with relief before he had enough strength to raise his hand to the canteen and stop her motions.
“I don’t know how to express my gratefulness for both of you” He said sincerely “I own you my life” He was quick to kneel, lowering his head in respect, one arm bending on his back and the other one rested on top of his knee. You extended your hand, ready to dismiss the unnecessary formality, but your Grandma seemed to think otherwise.
“You do” She agreed, standing up and supporting herself on her wood staff, like an elder. You almost scoffed at her antics but a single twist of her feet made you shut your mouth, the hard inaudible pang on your ass making you think twice before disrespecting her “Unfortunately, I may have to take some of it from you” She smiled apologetically.
She acted before you could even understand what she had just said.
The staff was raised to strike his stomach in a quick motion ─ so quick that he couldn’t help but hunch his back, hands over his stomach as he huffed in astonishment ─ before her hand covered his face to push his head to the ground, tipping him over.
“What strings are plucked beneath the mound? Awake the seeds to break the ground” She chanted, hand gripping his head firmly. You could see his right eye widen, peeking between her long fingers, mouth opening to scream for help. She jerked his head once, the sudden movement silenced him, and as you watched the scene with your mouth agape ─ utterly startled─, you noticed how his eyelashes fluttered close, hinting he was under a sleeping spell.
“Grandma, what are you doing?” You hissed, looking around the woods as if Nature herself would come to punish both of you.
She raised her other hand in a sharp movement, signalizing that you should keep quiet. You shut your mouth, pursing your lips to make sure not a sound would drop from you. It didn’t prevent you from stretching your neck, trying to get a better look at whatever was happening right in front of your eyes.
The scene before your eyes had your head tilting.
You never saw an enchantment like this.
You watched as strings of translucent energy oozed from his ears, slowly drenching the ground underneath his head in a spiral that seemed to fuzz the grass. The delicate flutters of her free hand seemed to hasten the energy flow, and soon enough she released his head, fluttering her fingers as if she was seasoning him. The mere thought of the unconscious boy being treated like a roasted chicken made you chuckle, and she shot you a glare to keep you quiet.
“No question asked… No answer found” She continued, and the energy coiled to the ground, knotting there before a small flower gradually sprouted, “Young man, now list to me…” She snapped her fingers, and all the fuzzing you felt around vanished. She caressed his head, thumbs running through his cheeks “It’s all a strange dream; don’t worry too much about this… It was really dangerous to fall asleep in the woods, wasn’t it? They should be worried about you by now…” She sighed, getting up and gesticulating for you to follow her.
You straightened up, prepared to obey without a question.
A sudden breeze made you shiver and you stared at the boy on the ground, musing for a second before taking Chan’s coat from your shoulders and covering him up. You threw a look over your shoulder to check up on him as you rushed to your Grandma, watching his asleep form snoring peacefully in the middle of the woods, resting next to a tree as if he was in a secure field. When you finally got on her tracks, you threw her a look, clearing your throat before voicing your thoughts.
“Shouldn’t we wake him up? He could be eaten by a wolf…” You pointed out but she kept her pace, waving her hand dismissively.
“He’s not our problem anymore” She shrugged, walking fast “Furthermore, it’s not the time for his death yet…” You narrowed your eyes at her, humming in wonder.
“Was that why you meddled?” You asked curiously, and she finally glanced at you over her shoulder, pursing her lips “I never thought you would save a human” You admitted.
“My mission is to respect Nature… If Nature herself wants this young man alive, I’m not the one to go against her wishes” She declared, intending to drop the subject. You hummed again, and before you could open your mouth, she cleared her throat “I thought it was clear that neither of you should approach a human until the age of eighteen” She stated matter-of-factly.
“I’m just a few months away…” You rolled your eyes before grinning “Also, I thought the first lesson of The Coven was to never turn our back to Nature… As you said, Nature herself didn’t want the young man to die” She scoffed, amused by your retort “Who am I to go against her wishes?” You chuckled, noticing how she shook her head in disbelief, though it was clear she found it funny.
“Don’t forget the other ones” She muttered seriously before snapping her fingers twice, probably releasing the poor boy from the sleeping spell.
                                                    ////

There’s birds chirping outside Grian’s window as he steps into the living space of his cottage, a bowl of water in his hands and rolls of bandages floating behind him, highlighted in glowing red.
His dark eyes sweep over the two men seated on his couch, and takes in their drastically differing expressions. One of them is smiling, peaceful and content despite the scratches covering his skin. There’s a bruise on his forehead, and his arm is most definitely broken, but he looks completely unbothered by it.
The man next to him is looking off to the side, his arms are crossed over his chest, brows pressed together and sitting low on his forehead. He looks just as injured as his friend, though he appears significantly less pleased about it. There’s a tear in the sleeve of his shirt, and Grian can see the blood drying against his pale skin.
Grian pauses right in front of them, “I don’t have much medical supplies, so we’ll have to make do with these.” He gestures at the floating objects behind him.
The smiling man looks up at him and his green eyes shine pleasantly, “Oh, not at worry! The hospitality is very much appreciated!”
The bowl of water is set down on the nearby table as Grian moves to pull a stool over. He places it down right in front of the two men before sitting down himself. The bandages float over to the table and Grian motions them down with his finger. “I’ll run out to town later and grab some actual supplies,” he says, eyes trailing over to the smiling man. He quirks a brow, “What did you say your names were?”
“We didn’t,” the brooding man cuts in, voice low and terse.
Grian frowns at him as he dips the towel on his shoulder into the water. “Well then can I know them?” he snarks in reply, and the smiling man laughs.
“The name’s Scar, and my grumpy companion is Mumbo,” Scar explains. He looks at Grian with an inquisitive gaze, though there’s something else within his eyes. Grian can’t quite tell what it is, but when he looks at Scar’s eyes he feels electricity zip through him. He suppresses a shiver. Scar smiles at him, but it appears just a tad too sharp, “And what may your name be, oh kind and benevolent stranger?”
“Grian,” he answers blankly, finding himself sitting up straighter on the stool. His insides twist and curdle with Scar’s eyes on him like this, feeling as the man is trying to see something that isn’t on the surface.
“And you’re a witch?” Scar questions, and the movement is minute, the way his eyes squint ever so slightly.
Electricity crackles in the air, charging each particle and making it taste static on Grian’s tongue. It almost feels like a stand off, like Grian should choose his words carefully else a fight in his home may break out. Or his mysterious and injured guests may just show themselves out at the very doorstep they randomly appeared on.
Slowly, Grian nods, “I am.” He watches Scar’s expression carefully, noting from the corner of his eyes the way Mumbo seems to stiffen. “I don’t see how that’s relevant right now though,” he says, motioning for Scar to move closer, “your injuries are much more important.”
Much like lightning cracking in the sky, or two sparks of electricity meeting, whatever charge was building in the atmosphere around them bursts. It quickly fizzles out and disperses, leaving only weak charges of static behind.
It makes Grian relax almost immediately, the hairs on the back of his neck no longer standing on edge. His shoulders drop slightly, letting his guard fall.
Scar offers him a smile and a soft secret chuckle as he leans in, and Grian has to bring the stool closer in order to reach him the way he needs to.
He dips the towel into the bowl once again, taking Scar’s chin in his hand to move him the way he needs to. He scowls as the light just isn’t working for him and with his free hand, he takes his finger and draws a circle in the air. It glows red as it forms from his fingertip before morphing and curling in on itself, becoming a sphere of light that glows warmly. “Much better,” Grian hums before carefully dragging the soaked towel against Scar’s skin.
Silence stretches over the living room as Grian works on patching up his mysterious guests’ injuries.

Another owl house inspired AU on stories by me and my friend, @disneyfan50 , with this one being based on disneyfan’s Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold and my series, Descendants: Family Business.
*Jacquelina ‘Jackie’ Sparrow- also known as the Kraken Lady a lot due to her cursed form, Jackie is a care free spirit who refuses to join any coven and therefore, is often hunted down by the pirate lord, as she also has something they want and she refuses to let them have it and when it comes to how she survives, she often makes gold of selling human junk that she doesn’t want to keep from the human realm, and one of these days, she suddenly finds a human running through her portal door and this would change both of their life’s completely.
*Jayra Ashton- a human from the human realm, Jayra grew up adoring stories about pirates and other fantasy like stories, and often had a habit of expressing her love for these stories in various ways and one of these incidents that involved her book report, resulted in her being sent to the principles office and with her dad being cornered by the school, she is sent away to a summer camp meant to calm her down, but she never goes as instead, she runs after a parrot in order to get her book back and in the process, finds herself in a realm right out of her books.
*Hector Turner- once a sailor, Hector soon enough got abandoned by his crew and ended up wandering until finally, he met Jackie while Jackie was running from the coven and while hiding from the coven, the two bonded to the point that when Jackie was able to make an escape from the hiding place, she took Hector with her and he became her roommate who constantly insists hes tough, but often fails.
*Flint- a demon that resides within the abandoned ship that Jackie made her home, Flint is the Pirates House in some sense and when not residing within the doors on the ship, Flint can travel throughout the ship or beyond it and despite coming off as creepy and annoying a lot, does have good intentions.
*Trinket- Jackie’s palisman that she made out of Palisman wood while a student, Trinket resembles a parrot and when not being used by Jackie and Jayra eventually, often roams around the ship or steals human junk for Jackie.
*Uma Meredith- once Jackie’s friend, the two lost contact over the years, with them last seeing each other when Uma managed to earn a place within the Lord’s coven and in present, she is a dedicated leader of the coven and is in charge of bringing Jackie in, with the promise that Jackie’s curse will be cured if Uma succeeds, something Uma wants.
*Malachi Faye- once good friends with Gabby, both fell out as children due to reasons Malachi still doesn’t quite know, and in present, Malachi is often an outcast due to his late bloomer status attracting nothing but bullying, especially with him failing the construction track, but after sneaking a human in once, he’s moved to the right track of Abomination and ends up befriending the human.
*Carla De Vil- a student in Hexside, Carla is the daughter of a local inventor and due to this, she gets his curioustly and currently studies Potions while also being curious about the human realm and when Malachi sneaks a human into Hexside, she ends up helping him out and befriending the two in the process.
*Gabby Legume- the youngest of the Legume children, Gabby was raised by her grandfather in wake of him having them taken away from their father, and Gabby would end up being forced to give up a lot, including her friendship with Malachi, just to fit what he wanted from her and in present, is the mean girl off the school who excels at the construction track and only after some encounters with the human, does she begin to change and slowly fall for the human in the process.
*Gary and Giselle Legume- the eldest of the Legume children, the twins are known only for their mischief and antics and while they do have a close relationship with their sister, they do turn nasty if she tells on them to their grandfather, and they are known to excel in the Illusions track.
*Fairen Glass- a student in Hexside, Fairen is known to come from a rather rich family and therefore, often gets away with a lot, including bullying fellow students, and is the schools sports star and is good at his chosen track off Plants.
*Zyna Sun- a student in Hexside, Zyna is close friends with Fairen and therefore, often tags along with him in a lot, including bullying fellow students and despite his love for science, he is also a sports star off the school and is a top student in the Potions track.
*Gaston Legume- the grandfather of Gary, Giselle and Gabby, Gaston is known to expect only the best from his grandchildren, having taken them from his son years ago and is harsh on Gabby in particular, with him owning and running Legume Industries while being in the Construction Track.
*Lord Davy Jones- the ruler off the Isles, Davy is considered one of the toughest pirates to defeat and with the coven system in place ensuring no wild magic can happen, its hard to be on his level unless apart of his coven and he seeks the human realm door in present for unknown reasons.
*Cutler Beckett- Davy’s right hand man, given his views on pirates, its a little surprising to find him working for one, but he does and is loyal to his coven fully as he does any job given to him, but slowly grows a dislike for the Red Pirate when she steals his jobs.
*The Red Pirate/Cordelia- taken in by Davy Jones as a baby, Cordelia is loyal to the coven fully and is a fully trained pirate and is not to be messed with, but does slowly begin to question her loyalties to the coven when Davy turns slowly nasty with her when she isn’t as powerful as he wants.
*Theodora Swift- once Jackie’s lover, Theodora and Jackie ended up losing contact when Jackie pushed her away out of fear of hurting her while in cursed form, and in present, both reunite when Theodora becomes the new head of the Bard Coven, Theodora being revealed to be leading a small rebellion in reality, with Jackie helping them.
*Fairy Godmother- the principle of Hexside, Fairy Godmother is known to be strict but also caring of her students, and allows the human into her school due to this being a first for a human to want to attend, and is in the Oracle Coven.

Any other Wing!AU ideas you have? I love all the worldbuilding and character motivations you have planned for it! Also I know Boscha is already a lovebird in that au, but think: Boscha… as a flamingo.
I’m so stupid I literally was thinking of pink birds when choosing her wings and I couldn’t even remember FLAMINGO Although honestly she still gives more Bird That Could Murder You vibes and parrots can totally do that.
As for my Wing AU ideas hhhh,,,,,,may end up repeating some things but LETS GO
Luz is eternally confused how some of the species names translated into the Boiling Isles. Like the species American Kestrel. How do they know what America is? They don’t! This is never explained.
Bird stereotypes exist in this world, too! Just because this isn’t the human realm doesn’t mean the Boiling Isles sucks any less. Owls are smart, ravens untrustworthy, peacocks are vain, parrots are loud and annoying, doves are peaceful, etc. This leads to many people trying to lean into or far, far away from said stereotypes. Eda may be an owl but everyone knows by now not to ask this crackhead for advice, and that is tacked onto the belief she’s not a ‘true owl’ because she’s a hybrid. Lilith is doing her absolute best to be seen as trustworthy and reliable to the Coven, a stand which has proved well in gaining admiration in the Isles. Of course, that comes crashing down when her betrayal is revealed and she’s fallen right back into her own stereotype. Most birds of prey are seen as bold and cruel, yet still admired. Amity’s family falls right into this. Skara leans right into her stereotype, though that’s because she actually does enjoy singing, she just happens to fit society’s expectations. Boscha is doing her best to not only prove that lovebirds can be more than just little matchmakers, but also be as intimidating as possible.
The Boiling Isles mixes with non-winged species pretty well. Demons or animal-like people (such as Braxus or Tibbles) often don’t have wings. Of course, despite their general unity, there’s a minor divide between winged and non-winged folk that can be seen in social groups. It’s still a bit of a wonder among Bonesborough how Eda and King get along so well.
People that can glide like flying squirrels, bat and bug-like wings do exist, though they are often strange demon hybrids, and aren’t technically considered witches. This has left many debate on if the Titan who makes up the Isles had wings or not, and what kind they were. Belos has chosen not to comment on any of these theories.
Preening is a sort of thing done with friends and family, to keep wings in check. There are places you can visit to get your wings cleaned up if their messy but unless your wings are covered in tar you simply Do Not go there in public. It’s like the social norm that it makes you look like a loser or asshole with no friends or family. So they mostly only get work at night. If Eda has to preen her feathers she WILL die and this is NOT a debate. Luz is willing to battle Eda to the death if it meant getting this owl to PREEN HER DAMN FEATHERS JESUS CHRIST. After Luz gets her squad of friends they have occasional sessions of preening each other feathers n just talking. It’s a pain for literally everyone, because Luz gets into so much trouble her feathers are constantly a mess. If you ever see Luz with normal-looking wings, it’s a cause for concern. Amity, of course, always has pristine wings.
The downy fluff baby birds are born with starts to go away at age ten. It completely vanishes between the ages of 13-15, depending on if your a late or early bloomer. Willow and Amity are the only ones with their fluff completely gone (albeit the last of Amity’s were plucked out prematurely), with Gus having a noticeable amount of fluff that hinders his flight slightly and Luz has some downy feathers at the base that mostly just serve as something soft to touch. King can over be found hiding under Luz’s wings and curled up in said fluff when Eda won’t let him nap on her wings.
Arial races are very similar to racecars, but are very, very popular. Beat only by Grudgeby. Some smaller places allow people of any wing size or shape to compete for a little bit of fun, but most official races only allow certain bird species, and there are even races for just one type of bird to keep things ‘fair.’ Many races involve peregrine falcons, eagles, albatrosses, needletails and swift-like birds. Hybrids between these fast birds aren’t too uncommon to try and get an extremely fast bird. It once got so bad that it was practically a breeding program, and now hybrids are banned from these very specific official races, and a thorough check in DNA and the family tree is made when someone enters a race, making sure everyone is the same species at least three generations back. Eda, of course, is always shouting about how stupid it is and claims she was one of the fastest fliers in Hexside, and would’ve gotten a lot for her time if they weren’t so specific.
Belos, being a wandering albatross, is often said to be truly relentless. Never giving up in his mission because an albatross does not tire, and that even if you are faster than him, he can outlast even a common swift, many say. It’s said he doesn’t need wing bindings, despite having the largest natural wingspan of any witch in the Boiling Isles, even by albatross standards. Which leads to the rumors that his bloodline is completely pure, nothing but albatrosses, maybe even only wandering albatrosses. Belos has said nothing about these claims, but his coven certainly helps evoke them.  Eda, however, is undeterred. Belos may have the largest wings in length, but Eda’s are THICK. She often jokes that she could snap Belos’s wings in half with one of her own without even trying. Which many people have overheard, and now there’s a group of people who lowkey really wanna see the ‘most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles’ duke it out with Belos, one on one.
Hhhhhh I’ll stop here, it’s getting long. But there’s more on the culture of wings in general!!! Still got more,,,dear god so much more. But that’s all I’m indulging on today.
