Like so many areas of social media, the conversation of gender equality has fallen down a rabbit hole of juvenile bickering, pedantry, and cringey catchphrases most appropriate for playground bullies.

The war drum of the self-righteous beats on.

Once a noble movement, steadfast in securing women’s financial freedom, their right to vote and work, their bodily integrity, and other non-negotiable rights, each essential for women to be seen as fully autonomous humans…

The baton has since been passed to an army of terminally-online social-media-nit-wits, narcissists, and overgrown babies, who have lost sight of their own priorities, and turned the baton into a steel bat to hit men with.

For many the battle has changed to:

Women don’t have enough pockets. Siri is misogynistic. Are bearded men more sexist?

I’m not saying such issues should be ignored; but over here, the boys are dying younger in every country, in every age group, are behind at every stage of western education, and the cavalry have still not arrived.

But yes, let’s close the gap on iPhone games. On Wikipedia editors. On pot smokers.

So, whilst many advocate for equal pockets, men are left to die, fighting for the basic right just to live as long as women.

Have we lost sight of our priorities?

Have we ceded the steering wheel of advocacy to a corrupt captain?

And what might it look like, if I were to adopt such a world view?

When the demand for sexism exceeds the supply, and you've run out of real problems, but the grift needs to keep going. They'll often trot out the unfortunate women in places like Iran, Afghanistan and so forth, but never want to talk about the real problem there: Islam. They don't actually care, they just want to hide behind them and pretend they're the same, when they're not.

so i did not expect to be making this post at almost three in the morning but here we are

i went to the tiktok search function to look at technoblade cosplays because there are some good creators and the like but i merely only typed the word techno and one of the auto complete searches was 'techno deserves it' and i was curious and so i clicked on the search result and lemme tell you i wish i hadn't. the original context for it all was a person being understandably upset about a comment on a video of theirs about techno that said "techno deserved it 🤣"

this all started over some petty fucking twitter drama when techno posted to his twitter after george floyd's death with the words 'murder is bad' and a link to a petition to bring awareness to the injustice. tommyinnit eventually retweeted the post with the phrase 'agreed' people then tried to cancel techno for it by saying he was racist and mocking the BLM movement. i personally see nothing wrong with the statement and one user even said

``He said “murder is bad” and shared a petition to respect George Floyd and spread awareness about institutional racism? How are you trying to turn this against him? In what way is this racist? Are you disagreeing with the opinion that murder is bad? He is not mocking anything.``

i am sickened and fucking disgusted that people even think this is okay. by acting like this they are only showing how horrible they really are and i cannot believe that anyone would ever think that something like that is okay and it truly goes to show that some people don't even have just half a fraction of a brain cell rattling around in their fucking skulls

It's National Handwriting Day. My handwriting is a big victory for me. I'm a left-handed dyslexic. For years, I heard all about how bad my handwriting was. I listened to teachers tell me I was some kind of failure.

Because I wrote mirror image. Or couldn't spell.

But I loved writing. I loved my notebooks - as far back as I can remember, I have loved notebooks, and the feel of pen on paper. The impossible potential of a blank page.

Writing mirror image and left-handed in the late 1980s? I had teachers carefully and gently try to find out if I was possessed (the Satanic Panic was fun as a geeky, left-handed dyslexic. Let me tell you...)

I listened to teachers get on me about using pens in the 'wrong' colors. (Colors that were only for girls! Not for boys! And stickers were a whole fucking thing.)

I got tired of listening to it. So, I practiced writing by hand. A lot. I discovered my handwriting got better when I wrote smaller. I practiced my spelling obsessively, and discovered a love for collecting words.

I battled teachers over my accommodations. The right to type instead of hand write, especially. (I had to even get accommodations to be allowed to use left-handed or non-spiral notebooks, and the right to not be trapped into writing in three ring binders - that I could take the notebook paper out!)

My vengeance wasn't swift, but it was thorough. I started writing everything in various colors of blue (because blue - as long as it wan't 'light blue' or 'teal' was an approved 'boy' color) in neat print. As tiny as I could make it.

And I can write very tiny. It drove them nuts, so they 'forced' me to type everything.

Some of my tiny handwriting came from writing on tabletop RPG character sheets. Some of it came from a desire to preserve as much space as possible in my notebooks and journals, and some of it was just that I liked having neat handwriting.

But some of it was definitively petty.

I’m in a petty AF mood today. So, please scroll past if you are a better person than I right now.

First, and foremost, Meghan was cut off from merching at the funeral. And it looks like she had to show it. Everything seemed to be from her royal life. She positioned her hands so that the only jewelry she had was wedding ring and Cartier bracelet. That courtsy was lowest of low. Didn’t stop the useless titles BS, but I expected nothing less from her.

Now, to me being an a$$hole. The BRF needs to release strategic information about them and make it clear that A+L are not getting titles. They should use Jane’s logic and privately say that any more discussion means that H+M will be embarrassed in the US. Period. I can only imagine how tired the royal family is of H+M’s BS if we’re tired.

So, I’m a historical costumer, and there’s a big thing in the community about “vintage style not vintage values.” That being said, there are definitely some amongst us who didn’t get the message. A while ago, I was associated with a fun historical costuming club. I was the youngest by at least fifteen years, I was the only queer member, and there was one (1) member who was not lily-white. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and even tried to subtly influence their beliefs to be more in line with mine, because I was and am privileged enough to be able to do so safely. I gave up and cut ties with them completely in January of 2020, after the leader of the club got mad at me for calling the people who stormed the capitol terrorists. As you do, if you’re an old white lady who dresses up like a poor facsimile of a Victorian aristocrat on a Saturday for fun.

Anyway, the club is thriving, and I am petty and find myself wanting for historical costuming friends. So I find myself scheming. I want to found a rival club. Locally based, but maybe with some sort of online branch. Historical costumers, people who just like to sew— whether that’s quilting, cosplay, embroidery, what have you —who are anti-racist, lgbtq+ affirming, and leftist or left leaning. Partially to show others that we’re out there, and partially just for camaraderie in my playfully anachronistic historical adventures.

You know— for fun!!
