Police stop more than 100 irresponsible drivers as part of targeted operation
Tumblr media
Staffordshire Police have stopped more than 100 drivers in a five-day period following a road safety operation in Staffordshire. Officers from our Roads Policing Unit (RPU) have been completing a series of targeted patrols around the county as part of Operation Tramline. The initiative is supported by colleagues from National Highways and saw officers record a total of 116 driving offences on the A34, A38, A50, A500 and A449. Most commonly, we found 37 motorists who were not wearing a seatbelt and also caught a staggering 27 people on their mobile phones whilst behind the wheel – including a man who was driving a 40-tonne HGV. We also tested a number of motorists for drink and drug driving at the roadside, resulting in one man being arrested after he tested positive for cannabis and a further four arrested after a stolen car was stopped in Stoke-on-Trent. A number of other offences were also reported on the operation, including: - Four drivers caught running red lights - Two drivers caught speeding - Four drivers without MOT and insurance - Eleven insecure loads - Three cars displaying illegal number plates Officers also issued 23 interventions whilst on Op Tramline to road users who were falling short of the expected standards. PC Sambrook, who was part of the operation, said: “Officers and local partners in Staffordshire are committed to championing road safety and ensuring we continue to minimise the opportunity for people to be killed or seriously injured as a result of negligence on our roads. “Operation Tramline is one of the many ways we work alongside National Highways and other agencies to proactively police our roads and make sure motorists uphold the standards expected of them.” The operation sees officers driving around in an unmarked HGV cab, owned by National Highways, who spot road traffic offences in real time. These offences are then radioed to police who then pull-over the suspect drivers and deal with the offences. It also follows the National Police Chief Council’s roads policing strategy for 2022 to 2025 which is designed to influence public behaviour to improve road safety and to stop those committing criminal offences on our roads. RPU Inspector Mark Joynson said: “We’ve seen first-hand the devastating effects that road traffic offences can have as well as the disruption that can be caused to emergency services if roads are disrupted or blocked by negligent drivers. “In some cases, offenders do not admit or recognise their negligence, particularly if they have developed bad habits over time such as travelling above the speed limit or not indicating at junctions.” “It’s one of the many reasons why it’s so vital that we continue to educate drivers on the importance of road traffic safety and take appropriate enforcement action where necessary.  National Highways Assistant Regional Safety Coordinator, Marie Biddulph, said: “We provide these unmarked HGV cabs to our police partners to help spot unsafe driving behaviour. It isn’t about catching people out, it’s about stopping drivers putting themselves and others at risk. “A good day for us would be a day where no incidents of unsafe driving were recorded - we want people to be safe on our roads. “From the elevated position in our HGV cabs, police can identify that small minority of people who continue to drive unsafely. We hope the realisation of this fact will make all motorists consider their driving behaviour.” To read more on the #PhoneFree campaign which launched recently, visit: #PhoneFree | Staffordshire Police To find out more about National Highways and what you can do to stay safe on the motorway, visit: https://highwaysengland.co.uk/road-safety/driving-on-motorways/ Read the full article

Lost my phone yesterday due to an accident. I’ll pray for its mechanical soul to ascend the highest of the highest. Meanwhile, I’ll revel on its absence. Total peace from unwanted calls for a year.

Phone-Free and FB, Twitter and IG-Free
It’s been a long time since I posted a blog because I was experimenting on myself before I could actually write it in a blog.
So, the title says it all. I’ve been experimenting on myself whether I could actually do it or not, being phone-free and FB, Twitter and IG free, and the lessons and development I gained on this experiment are to be told below.
I decided to delete the three apps in my phone, but I didn’t entirely delete the accounts. I just kind of ghosted it and my followers and friends, and still left my online identity as it is so then they wouldn’t think I’m dead or whatever. I still had my messenger open but turned off the active status. I don’t know. I just really wanted to have more time for myself, to invest in learning, in my mental and emotional health, to have more time.
This decision made a huge change in my life. It’s not even a month long that I did this but the change is like a long time ago. It’s made me even more happier and fulfilled. I feel like I have a lot of time now and I became more patient than I never was.
It’s like going back to old times, where I was still little and just doing things like a normal kid would do without the phone and all that stuff.
And by phone-free, I don’t entirely mean I’m phone-free the whole day. I still use my phone, of course, I need it for work, for learning, and for accountability and catching up with friends and family, I just have days where I am phone-free, and that’s on Sundays.
You know I realized, without those three, I never really did miss something. Before, I would think that without Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, it’s like I am missing half of my life, but the very truth is, I am NOT. I actually am not missing anything. Or maybe I would miss the memes. HAHA.
Nonetheless, I have been having the best quality of sleeps, I’m not moody anymore, because I now have time to get that 8-hour sleep that our body needs. I get frequent breaks, it’s already a non-negotiable for me. I get more time to reflect that I never did before because I was too focused on scrolling and judging people’s posts which I am not proud of. I sleep before 10PM and out of phone after 8PM as much as I can depending on when I get to finish my work.
PEOPLE, I AM LIVING HEALTHY!!! This is the healthiest I have been in, in my not-yet-twenty years.
There are actually a LOT of things that changed, but I don’t want to spoil everyone, you have to try it out for yourself and find out your best self.
Let’s be phone-free and FB, Twitter, and IG-free.
22nd of June 2021. Tuesday

On wellness: Digital Detox, pt. 1
On wellness: Digital Detox, pt. 1
I am turning off and stowing all my large electronic devices. This is a drill, but tomorrow I will be doing it for real. I am flying to Great Falls, Montana to start a six-day canoeing trip on the Upper Missouri river with my ever-adventurous mother. The scenery along the white-cliff hedged river promises to be virtually unchanged from the days when Lewis and Clark, the explorers charged with…

So I didn’t take my phone with me last night and I didn’t miss it at all. I had the opportunity to really connect with people and just be in the moment. Had I had my phone with me though I could have taken a photo that looked something like this. phone free days 2.0
January 10th, 2017. Another thing that bothers me about the mobile free days at school. If the teachers see your phone, they take it from you and you can take it back in the afternoon. Seems fair. That are ALWAYS the consequences. So today shouldnt even be a special day, bc this are rules, and they always have been. So idk, if the teachers hate the phones so much that there has to be a special day, why dont they just maintain it everyday?
The only difference is that your phone should be in your locker, but who even listens to that? Maybe I’m just badass or anything, but i just didnt take it out of my bag/pocket, just like most people.
But hey, teachers can still have their phones right? ‘We are not students, we have more rights.’Why are almost all of them really businesslike and boring? BC they want us to grow up (i asked it to my English teacher and this was his anwser). Its all about equal rights and stuff. And i know, teachers can do more as students, but idk, it doesnt seem fair. Phone free days mean PHONE FREE DAYS. If even the teachers dont give a fuck, why should we, as the students?

(via How to Get Infiniti Mobile Free Government Phone)free phone programs have been in existence since the ’80s. Reagan’s administration formulated it, and at that time, people would get free landline communication services. Circa 2 decades later, people can now access free wireless phones from authorized lifeline service programs like the Infiniti mobile free government phone. Lifeline has enabled millions of Americans to talk to friends and family, and in the current digital age, the phones have offered a good platform for education and job searching.
