General Mercymourn "Mercy" White, leader of the paramilitary operation dedicated to taking down King Cole, is a controversial figure even within her own organization. Hers is the only revolution to come even close to succeeding in ending 2,000 years of oppression and it is only by descending to depths of cruelty and brutality unmatched by any except His Majesty himself. Do the ends justify the means? Is this heroism? Is she a legend or a monster? Some believe the answer to these questions lies in the fact of who she used to be, an impossible task as she has been scarred beyond recognition and the name "Mercymourn White" only exists in records made after she began her war.
As for why the name Mercymourn, well the watsonian answer is that General White needed a first name to throw some of the scent off of Snow. Initially she considered Cordelia, but with the amount of news coverage of the SS Anderson explosion and the death of Captain Cordelia White of the HMSS Huntsman it was too much of a risk to associate with that event. Besides, she looked nothing like the original Cordelia White even after the scars. So, with Cinders' help she invented a new name in the style of Perraultan (Cinders' planet's) noble families, one that has never existed before. The name Mercymourn was picked because she mourns the goodness and mercy she had fought so hard for in her youth. It's also a delicious irony to have people call her "Mercy" when she gives none. Plenty of space for a few jokes as well to bring some levity to dark times.
The doylist answer is that it's an extremely self indulgent name. I enjoy the locked tomb series a normal amount (<- blatantly lying) and in particular am obsessed with the name Mercymorn. Combined with my love of the "morning/mourning" dichotomy, well, General White gets the highest of honors for characters I flesh out: a cool as hell name :3 Also the thematic implications are just so fun to poke around with.
Anyways. I am soooo normal about General White come closer.

Sci-fi worldbuilding ideas for your city planets :)
If the planet is entirely city, where does the oxygen come from? Are their farms dedicated to producing oxygen? Special factories? Are there plants that produce oxygen very quickly all over the planet? Do you have to pay an oxygen tax?
Does the planet have natural water? Are the oceans untouched, incorporated into the city, or have they been drained and the water used for things in the city? What is it used for? Drinking, dams, hydroelectricity, food production, etc?
How deep does the city go? Has the planet been mined into to create more space? Is geothermal energy used? Are the bottom levels reserved for things such as sewage, electricity production, factories, prisons, etc?
What is transportation like? Are there roads, floating roads, or are trains and trams used instead? Are planes used? Is transportation fast enough to quickly travel across time zones?
How is food produced? Is it imported, or is it grown on planet? A combination? Think about greenhouses, factorised farms, vertical farming projects, etc. If oceans are left relatively untouched, is food produced in it? Are fish kept? Are there ration laws?
Are the poles less occupied than the rest of the city? Are they used for storing frozen goods, super computers? On a planet with no oceans, is ice and snow valuable?
The same goes for the equator of the planet. Is it more or less occupied? Is the heat used for anything? Are there solar panel farms? Air conditioning?
Are there parks and protected areas of nature? Ancient gardens, important forests, sacred land? Are there laws about chopping down trees? Are there farms for trees and plants? Are their plant shops, and are they expensive? In Star Wars, a part of Coruscant's highest mountain is a public monument that you can look at - are parts of mountains, rare ores, fossils, etc, preserved?
Not all sci-fi cities look the same. Coruscant has skyscrapers arranged in a very chaotic manner, stretching incredibly deep and incredibly high, and there is almost no plant life or natural parts of the planet to be seen. Xandar is arranged neatly with very similar style buildings whilst remaining relatively low rising compared to other city planets, and has lots of greenery and a fairly untouched ocean. Wakanda is relatively defined in layout, with a mixture of plants and buildings, houses and skyscrapers, with every building being unique. Draw inspiration from whatever you like.
Write whatever you want, even if it's common or cliche. It doesn't matter if it has been done before, because it hasn't yet been written by you.
Happy worldbuilding!

I've long had this idea in my head for spaceships inspired by anvil-shaped cumulonimbus clouds. These are the first two proper renderings of the concept.
I think there'd be just a few of these, each of a unique shape. Each one is a generation ship the size of a small city, capable of travelling through a hyperspace/slipspace type of dimension at great cost. Everywhere they go, they act as the base of operations for a resource collection operation taking many years, eventually gathering enough energy to make another jump and repeat the cycle. Who knows why they go where they do?

Sasha and Bogdan (left to right). Two scientists who have dedicated themselves to the study of the thawing Siberian tundra, with a special interest in the thawing viruses and bacteria.
Being a bi-species team, traveling to remote locations can be tricky, as food sharing is not possible, but they wouldn't have it any other way.
As the keen-eyed observer would notice, the geteza have successfully been reworked. They have a slightly more upright stance and only two pairs of walking limbs. Their middle pair have been turned into brood legs, so I don't need to draw them anymore :) and it makes putting on clothes for the geteza much easier.

I sunk 24 hours of rendering into this piece so MAY AS WELL POST IT
I had to design and illustrate an underground city for my concept art class, and decided to go with subterranean aliens building a vertical metropolis! I’m very inexperienced and no real good with xenobiology, so they ended up like walmart brand bug ferrets….. but I’m definitely happy with the style of architecture!!

oh hold on i realized i never posted the height chart i kitbashed together from cinders, snow, and rose's refs. i managed to draw them roughly to scale so i didn't even have to modify it >:3c as you can see, cinders is tall as hell, snow is incredibly average, and rose is Short TM <3 rose can also pick up and carry both of them. Stronk.

Helllo!!! In A's route they tell the MC they are their North Star - does that mean that the planet Arsur is on has the same star system as we do? So does that mean Arsur is located on Earth? Just trying to understand the larger Crown-Verse. Thank you <3
Nah, it's just a star that indicates north and fulfills the function of navigation like we have in our universe.
Fun fact, but the north star we have in real life (Polaris) actually became the north star due to the earth's rotation axis very gradually shifting to where it points several millennia ago. It used to point to a different star altogether (Alpha Draconis). In another several thousand years, another star will take Polaris' place to become the new north star (Vega).
Anyways, just like the galaxy Arsur is in has its own constellations, I figured it would make sense for them to utilize a north star for navigation like we do.
