Jack, Quincey and Arthur met in university doing several fieldwork biology projects together which involved a lot of Restraining and Tagging Large Dangerous Beasts. Quincey obviously is the bat expert. He refuses to accept any method of interaction with animals that progressed a little past Steve Irwin times. Arthur I'm thinking didn't stay in academia and is more working in environmental science education and outreach in England, esp as he comes from the sort of money/class that tends to spearhead charities. His pet cause is eco-friendly methods of pest control to combat the spread of poisons up the food chain to foxes and birds of prey and he re-trains rescue hunting dogs for the purpose. Jack is still a psychiatrist, he probably has a personal interest in mental illness that leads him to that despite his unsuited personality, he got involved with the other two pursuing research on potential applications of snake venom to psychiatric medication (its mostly used for anticoagulants cancer and neurodegenerative disease). Hey maybe thats what he was sucking out of Van Helsing too, not that you're supposed to do that but I doubt sucking gangrene out of someone is a thing either. He is in contact with Renfield in the context of him being a volunteer in a legal, licensed testing campaign and its really his first time working in contact with patients. They're still all a little Mal Practice but to an ethically bearable extent.

why won't the library job i applied for reply to me :(

#i wanted it so much and i spent so long on the application and i'm SURE it was good and that i was probably more qualified for it than a #lot of other applicants. i mean it's literally only open to students at my university and some of the other applicants will have come #straight from high school so i'm sure i have more experience than them. unless they reject my application because as a postgrad #student they assume i'm slightly older. but isn't age discrimination illegal? #idk. it would just be nice if they got back to me at the very least after i spent so long on the application #like you'd think the actual university would have the decency not to ghost people

I started a bullet journal yesterday :-)

Recently I’ve been really struggling with remembering daily tasks, important deadlines, upcoming dates, etc. and I’ve also been finding it hard to keep track of which day of the month it is. My executive function has also been garbage and I’ve been finding it really hard to work on any academic projects. I’d heard that bullet journals can be more useful for people with adhd than regular planners since you can customise them depending on your daily and monthly needs and I’ve had a really positive experience so far! I’ve got daily task lists, post it’s for upcoming important dates and a list of The Big Jobs I Keep Putting Off Doing ^^’

It hasn’t fixed my brain or anything but it has really helped with the sense of impending doom I feel when I know I’ve forgotten something, because if I’m using it right anything I could have possibly forgotten should be in the journal! It’s also really helped with my executive dysfunction and I’ve definitely been finding it easier to start tasks because I know I get the reward of crossing it off my list when it’s done :3 I’m gonna try this system for a month and see how it goes, but hopefully this will be a positive adhd tool for me!

yeah student housing is an absolute scam barely worth the money and i don’t want to romanticise a box room with paper thin walls

I forgot how much love I hold for the casual sounds of student roads

the constant wheels of suitcases up and down the hill and the snatches of laughter spilling from opens windows and doors as friends leave for the night

and the hairdryers or plug sockets clicking or washing machines spinning and chairs scraping along the floor above.

uni can be such an isolating experience sometimes but the noise of other people just existing on the other side of your wall is one I’ve actually missed
