Leonard lifted an eyebrow but started removing the paper and removing the lid. Whatever it was, it looked like a small bit of clothing. It had the bi-pride flag and some straps. Curious, he lifted it from the box and dangled it by one of the straps. "A jockstrap?"

"Yeah, it'll make your ass look great!"

"Leonard's posterior is aesthetically pleasing regardless of what he wears," Spock interrupted.

"You and I both know that's a lie, you've seen his medical whites. Does nothing for his ass. Erases it completely." Jim made a sour face like he was disgusted by the mere thought. "Pancake ass Bones."

Daughter of the Drow by Elaine Cunningham. I've been playing D&D for like five years now and am still obsessed with drow, so my DM kindly got me these books for xmas.

I don't watch too many movies anymore (working with them made me a little averse lol) but I will watch the 2005 Pride & Prejudice until my eyes fall out. My spouse and I recently rewatched all the extended LOTR movies too.

Currently Craving

Ohhh probably fancy little coffees. We were snowed/iced into our apartment for just under a week and i miss my best friend (iced oat milk white mocha) so much. she's everything to me. or maybe the urge to write again, i've been craving that for the past few months lol.

💖 Which of your fics is your pride and joy?

I wouldn't say pride and joy, but I reread it while I was walking the dog today and I truly do think it's good. Tell Me To Go (mckirk, E)

🤷‍♀️ What's a fic you didn't expect to be popular, but really took off?

I occasionally say this, but I'm extremely baffled that my spones day fic is so popular (your mileage might vary lol) - at the moment it has 196 kudos (and it isn't even a year) and it's number one in the collection. Which like why? I wrote it in my "writing spones is really hard atm" period, and it is the last spones fic I've written (or rather, finished, since I did try writing something for the zine, but failed lol), and I just really disliked writing it, so I just don't have pleasant memories concerning this fic, but people seem to love it. I understand why, because fluff and "didn't know they were dating" but... my feelings can't be changed.

The other fic is ofc my Kirk/La'an fic that I wrote in the middle of season 2 (and just a few weeks after the spones day fic and I had a blast compared to the spones fic). But I've never imagined that a het fic would be my most popular fic - or become number 1 fic for the ship on ao3 - especially when around that time the perception of SNW fandom was: people don't read SNW fics. And people still keep finding it, but I guess that's what it means to write something for an ongoing show.

🌷 What's one of your fics that isn't as popular, but you hold dear?

The Horrors of the Past - this is a Kirk/McCoy-ish fic set in the AU established in the finale of SNW s1, but it's a TOS fic. It was written before SNW2, and I just really wanted to explore Kirk's feelings after becoming the captain of the Farragut, so it's based on Obsession (the title also comes from Obsession). La'an is the XO because I say so.

You know what I do? Reblog ask memes and posts encouraging ask box engagement and then I space on answering the asks I do get. It's called being a hypocrite and it's fantastic.

Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?

One shots, unquestionably, LOL. I did write multichapter when I was younger, and one of my first McKirk fics is loosely a five times fic, but I really prefer to write short stories with payoff immediately rather than stressing about if I've gotten momentum or plot development even and correct. I have a handful of multichapter ideas in mind, but I'm not sure they'll ever happen to my satisfaction.

18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?

Usually during or immediately after! In very rare cases before, if I'm struck by a particular lyric and I'm building a fic around it. Oftentimes I'm working on a fic and something that feels like it fits the vibe will occur to me. (My McKirk fics are almost all lyric titles, but thus far my FFVII fics have been bits of dialogue from the stories themselves, so a bit different.)

27. What is your most and least favorite part of writing?

Most favorite, I love getting to figure out character dynamics--dialogue, the ways they interact with each other, physicality based on if they've known each other a while or if they're just getting to know each other (I have two characters in my original stuff who used to be married and they have a frankly terrifying level of nonverbal communication I really enjoy writing). Least favorite, as I mentioned before, I am bad at plotting and feel a lot of stress over proper pacing, which is why I tend to stick to shorter stuff.

39. Share a snippet from a WIP.

Because I have it open in a tab right now, a bit from the FF7 fic I'm working on:

She feels the tremor in his hand, one that, if they weren't talking like this, she would have just credited to the mako poisoning. Super strength doesn't seem to make much of anything when your body's fucked six ways from Sunday; she's been keeping close since they got out of the lifestream, trying to make sure he ends up back on an even keel. So she can't let it pass, turns her hand over beneath his so she's lightly grasping it, only gripping harder when he tries to pull away. "Let go?" he pleads faintly, and she shakes her head. "Like hell." "Tifa." A quiet sigh, another plea. "Look. I appreciate all your help with this--this bullshit." He gestures feebly with his free hand at his legs sprawled beside him. "But--you saw what happened back at the temple, at the altar. What--what I almost did to her. You can't–" "Yeah, Cloud, you know what I can do? Blame Sephiroth. He killed her, just like--just like my dad." Her chest is so tight it hurts to breathe. "So don't you dare--ever again, Cloud, are you listening?--act like you did it with your own hands."

55. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?

With McKirk fics, I definitely enjoy writing from Bones' perspective the most, and I feel very gratified that my readers' response to my Bones voice has borne this out, especially because there are elements of his backstory (both in canon and as I write him) that are totally outside of my experience. I take a lot of pride in the place I've been able to get it to.

72. What order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?

I am an absolute mess in my original stuff, but with fanfiction I actually find it's easiest to go mostly in order! I usually have an inciting incident in mind that helps me set up the plot / character dynamic and go from there, like a character getting up from a nightmare, asking a question they need answered, being interrupted when they're lost in thought, etc. Sometimes if I'm really stuck I'll move further into the story and work on dialogue or interaction that I can more clearly visualize, but usually, I go in chronological order.

We Need A Little Christmas -- McKirk

It’s officially the start of Fandom Christmas in July! I have 32 prompts for the month (due to two titles being conflated) and I plan on answering them all this year. The theme was Christmas Songs and here’s my first fic, to the tune of Glee’s rendition.

Getting Into The Christmas Spirit - It's Jim and McCoy's first Christmas as a couple, first Christmas with Joanna, and first Christmas party. McCoy is a little grumpy.

McCoy grimaced at the song coming from the speakers attached to Jim’s vintage record player. “Christmas music?”

“What do you think gets played at a Christmas party?” Jim asked, fixing the wreath on the door. “It’s our first as a couple, our first time with Joanna, and our first tree decorating party. Don’t be bah-humbuging the whole night.”

“Can I get in one bah-humbug before Joanna comes out of her room?”

Jim chuckled and shut the door. “Just one.”

“Bah, humbug,” McCoy said, but he had the faintest smile on his face. It was true, the last few Christmases had been rough without Joanna around, but after she ran away from her mother and he took her in with her mother’s permission, it was feeling like home in the apartment, even if it hadn’t originally been his. There were pictures all over the place, awards from Joanna’s school hanging up with pride, and the other marks of home all around.

He could stand Christmas again, maybe. He just hadn’t realized how into it Jim was going to be.

Jim came around and wrapped his arms around his waist from behind. They weren’t a particularly touchy-feely couple in public, especially on the ship, but in private he ate all the physical affection up like candy. “It’s mostly for Joanna’s benefit, in case she missed her mom and, you know, first Christmas with Dad in a while. I promise not all the Christmas songs tonight will be from the Glee Christmas album. I just know Joanna likes to watch episodes on her datapad, so I figured I’d go see if anyone had the Christmas album.”

“How much did you pay for it?” McCoy asked.

“More credits than it was probably worth in old Earth,” Jim said as Joanna came out, a huge smile on her face.

“‘We Need a Little Christmas!’ My favorite!” Joanna exclaimed before singing along. She was fourteen now, too old for Santa, but she seemed to enjoy the album. McCoy pulled away from Jim and Jim gave him a wide smile as he began to sing along too. McCoy shook his head and went to go check the food. Maybe tonight wouldn’t be so bad after all...

💖 Which of your fics is your pride and joy?

I hate everything I've written within five minutes of it being published haha. But I'm fairly happy with my first McSpirk Bingo fic and my first ST fic at all Too Much To Ask. It had been the first time in about 3-4 years that I'd written a fanfic and it felt so good to get back into it~

🥘What wip are you most excited about?

So currently I am working on a long-term McKirk fic going over their relationship through the series. I haven't decided if it'll be one big multi-chapter or a series of fics yet (leaning towards the latter though) and it's still VERY early in the plotting/planning stage. But there is so little TOS McKirk which is just a huge shame so I guess I'll just have to manifest it into the universe myself~
