YOU'RE NOT YOURSELF | s.kerr

summary: you're not well, but you still go out to watch sam's game; but when she finds out you've come out when you're sick, she drops everything to take care of you [966 words]
pairing: fem!reader x sam kerr

LONDON WAS COLDER THAN YOU REMEMBER. the last time you were here, the winds weren’t this harsh- you could’ve sworn it. the winter months in england had returned with vengeance, and you were their newest victim.
the chelsea scarf you had wrapped around your neck wasn't enough to stop the cold air penetrating your skin, making you shiver. it was your first time back in london after being way in australia for the world cup, you missed its warm nights already.
you were sat in the family and friends section of chelsea, ready to watch sam play in a friendly; her first game back after missing the pre-season match against roma.
on the plane-ride home, you had began to feel lethargic. you chalked it up to being stuck on an aeroplane with sam for a whole day, but now that you had landed and had the day to get back into your routine, the feeling hadn't faded and you were feeling worse.
the chelsea and tottenham girls came out onto the pitch for the anthems before the game started and you swore you were going to get hypothermia from standing in the cold. the game went slower than any other game you had watched before. sam played well, she always did- but it was jessie flemming who put the game to rest with the first goal of the game in the eighty-seventh minute.
you and the other wives and girlfriends, headed down towards the changerooms to meet the girls. levi, millie’s partner shot you a concerned look before speaking.
“you all good, y/n?” he asked, raising his eyebrows. he had seen how much you had been struggling through the match. never up on your feet like you usually were or cheering as loud; and when he did talk to you during the match, he noticed how pale your skin had grown and how hoarse your voice was.
you blinked a few times before looking at levi. clearing your throat, you respond: “yeah, i’m fine”. a lie.
levi pat you on the back twice before chuckling softly, a tell-tale sign he knew you weren’t telling the truth. “yeah,” he nodded, “sure”.
you watched as the girls sung the club song in a circle and broke away from each other with loud cheers; each person off to find their family or friends. sam’s eyes scanned the changeroom before landing on you. you were leant against the wall right near the door, guro just having made her way over to say hello to you. sam rolled her eyes, she would get to you before sam had the chance to.
“you don’t sound well,” guro took in your appearance, “quite pale”.
you tried your best to brush her off, “i’m fine.” you smile was more tired than happy, sam noticed as she made her way over to you both.
“hey pretty lady,” sam pulled you in. as she went to kiss you, you turned your head slightly and kissed her cheek instead. sam was a little taken back, but let it go anyway- seeing how tired you looked. guro had left the two of you alone, knowing that sam would want to have you to herself. “you’re shivering,” sam chuckled, pulling you into her embrace, “it’s not that cold outside, drama queen”. you did your best to laugh at her joke without completely falling into her arms. having just played an entire ninty minutes, sam was toasty against your frosted skin.
“it’s freezing,” you quipped back at her.
“give me ten minutes to shower and we’ll leave, yeah?” she pulled away slightly to look at your face. you didn’t say anything in response, only nodded. sam paused for a second, taking in your demeanour. your face was flushed from the cold and your eyes were tired. “you okay?” she asked.
“i’m just tired,” you shrugged, clearing your throat again afterwards. sam continued to look at you, like she was trying to search for something wrong. she knew that jet-lag usually kicked your ass, but this felt different to her. she let out a quiet hum before kissing your forehead. “i’ll be quick, okay?” she raised her eyebrows.
“go,” you chuckled, “you stink”.
“when i smell like this, it means i’m paying our bills” sam gently pushed you away with a smile, walking towards the showers.
true to her word, sam took around ten minutes to shower and come back out to you; rugged up in her training hoodie and pants. hand in hand, you left the stadium and went back to your car. your nose was running from the walk back to the car park, the winds only getting worse as the night dwindled.
“you’re all sniffly, babe” sam squeezed your hand, looking over at you.
you laughed, sniffing again, “it’s the wind!” you tried to defend yourself, “it’s freezing here. i miss being home already, it’s too cold”.
“it’s not that cold, babe” sam chuckled, realising that your nose had gotten more red since she first saw you after the game. “you alright?” she asked you as you finally reached the car.
“yeah,” you sniffed, “just tired”. you were starting to sound worse and sam was noticing it.
“babe,” sam stopped you from walking to the drivers side of the car. “are you feeling okay? you don’t look good”.
you knew there was no point in lying to her anymore, sam wasn’t stupid; but you didn’t want her to worry. “i think i’m getting sick” you sigh.
“you think?” she smiles, looking at you with a smug grin. “i could’ve told you that,” she nodded.
“whatever,” you roll your eyes and walk to your side of the car. sam makes it a point to blast the heater once you’ve started the car. you hold your hands in front of your air vent for a moment before starting to drive home. sam plays some of her music on a low volume, not sure if you have a headache or not. she keeps her hand on your thigh as you drive back to her apartment, constantly sneaking you worried glances as you sniff and stifle coughs.
helen purrs as you put your bag down on the kitchen bench, you scratch her head with a soft smile. sam drops her bags in the entry way, a habit that you wish she didn’t have, before coming over behind you and wrapping her arms around your waist. she places a soft kiss on your cheek, resting her chin on your shoulder. “let’s go to bed,” she whispered. you lean your head against hers before letting out a deep sigh, nodding your head slowly.
you tell sam you wanna have a shower before bed. she can hear you coughing over the sound of the water hitting the tiled floor. while you’re gone, sam shuffles through her kitchen cabinets, trying to look for some medicine for you to take. she finds some nyquil from when she had the flu in december and takes it into your bedroom, ready to ambush you with it once you get out.
sam has the heater on in the bedroom for you when you finally make your way into your bedroom. you’re drying your hair, when sam looks up from her phone to see you.
“are you kidding?” she asks, quickly sititng up from her spot on the bed, “tell me you didn’t wash your hair”. you stop in your tracks, watching as sam stomps into the bathroom. “you can’t go to sleep with wet hair, y/n” her voice echoes from the ensuite into your bedroom, “you’ll get worse”. when she comes back, she has a hairdryer in her hand. shaking her head, sam plugs it in and sits you down at your vanity. you close your eyes and try not to fall asleep as sam dries your hair for you. the hot air sends your cold body into a euphoric state, as sam runs her fingers through your hair.
you sniff before taking a deep breath and letting out a sneeze into your elbow. sam whistles before chuckling, “bless you!  that was a good one.” she smiles. you shake your head at her before letting her finish up.
once she was happy with how dry your hair was, she picked out some clothes for you to wear to bed. sam made you take your medicine before climbing into bed with you. she switched on the tv, putting on the west coast game she hadn’t had the chance to watch yet.
you rested your head on her chest, trying your best to stay awake with sam. you coughed into the sleeve of the hoodie sam had given you, the sounds coming from your chest made sam look down at you in worry. “i really don’t like the sound of that” she shook her head, eyebrows furrowed. she switched the tv off halfway through the second quarter, not bothering to watch the rest. you went to protest, knowing how much she had been wanting to watch this game. “come on, you need to go to sleep” she shuffled, getting comfy next to you.
“why’d you turn it off?” you whined.
“because you should be resting, not watching the eagles lose to the crows” she chuckled.
“i was resting,” you argued. sam didn’t bother arguing back, she knew that if she left it you would too. she pulled you into her arms and kissed your forehead, feeling for a fever.
“i’ll get you in to the doctor tomorrow,” sam told you, looking down at your relaxed frame. you had snuggled yourself into sam’s chest, trying to get as much warmth as you could.
“i don’t need to go to the doctor, sam” you smiled softly, your body too tired to laugh.
“fine,” she brought her hand to the back of your head, holding you. “i have recovery in the morning, but i’ll go pick up some stuff for you on my way back, okay?”
“okay,” you let out a deep breath, your nose too blocked to breathe any other way, “i love you,” you said.
sam smiled, still looking down at you, as you grew closer and closer to falling asleep. “i love you too,” she gave you one last kiss on your forehead before letting you doze off.

SHE
Chapter 3 - Arrivederci Roma
Tumblr media
read chapters 1 and  2 here!
The bright sunshine was streaming into the hotel room when Juliet opened her eyes. It took a second for her eyes to adjust. Once they did she realized that she was not alone nor was she in her hotel room. She rolled over to see Harry sleeping next to her. He looked so peaceful, his features were soft in the early morning light.
Juliet noticed their clothes laying haphazardly on the floor. An indication that they had been in a rush to get them off last night. She took a second to recall the events from the night before. She had left the afterparty with Harry. They had walked around the city some before heading to his hotel. She was surprised at how she felt about last night. She didn't regret sleeping with him at all. It had been good, so good. But she couldn't help the nagging feeling that she felt. She knew who he was. He was Harry Styles, a global rockstar. He was a household name. And Juliet was sure that he would get on a flight, go back to London and she would never hear from him again. She grabbed her phone off the bedside table and checked social media. Luckily, there hadn't been any picture of her and Harry leaked to the press. Not that she really would have minded. But she knew that if she was seen out with him, everyone in the world would assume that they were dating.
She felt him stir beside her.
"Morning, sleep well?" His voice was hoarse and laced with sleep. It made her heart swell.
"Good morning. Yeah, I did. Did you?" Juliet put her phone down and rolled over to face him. He really did look so handsome. His skin adorned with ink. She let her eyes wander from tattoo to tattoo. She quite liked the swallows on his chest.
"Mhmm. What's ya plan for the day?" He asked quietly, his eyes took her body in.
"Well, I planned on working this morning and then catching my flight back home later." She told him. For a second a looked of disappointment flashed across Harry's face. It was only there a split second before he gave her a tiny smile.
"Ya on a trip to Rome and ya wanna hole up in ya hotel room and work? C'mon Jules, we could go see the coliseum or we could go back to the Capitoline Museums." He tucked an arm under his head and looked over at her.
"You were at the show last night weren't you?" She asked.
"Yeah, I was."
"I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. I thought I saw you in a crowd of people, then you were gone."
"Well, 'm right here now. And I think ya should go have some fun before ya go back home." He gave her his signature smile. It was the kind that made his eyes crinkle. How on earth could she say no to him?
"Okay, but I don't have any clothes. How about I go to my hotel and get ready. I'll shower and change and meet you there?" She suggested. This plan seemed to make the most sense. They'd leave the hotel separately and arrive at the museum separately. No one would know that she'd been with him since last night.
"I know it's hard to go out in public with someone that has a lot of fans. We might be photographed. Are ya okay with that?" There was nothing boastful about his tone. He was simply asking a question.
"No, it won't bother me."
"Okay, ya know I'd never put ya in a situation that ya were uncomfortable with. Ever. 'M sure it'll be for the best if we meet at the museum. How about 11? I'll text ya when I get there." She grinned at him from her spot on the bed. She stood up and put her clothes from last night on.
"Perfect. I'll see you there." She gave him one last smile as she opened the door.
"Bye Jules."
___
The whole time Juliet was getting ready, she couldn't stop thinking about Harry. He was so intoxicating, taking up her every thought.
The way he talked and said her name, the way his emerald green eyes sparkled, the way his lips felt against hers. She was completely and utterly enamored.
Juliet pulled on her favorite pair of Levi jeans and a cream silk tank top. She put the same sneakers on that she had worn yesterday.
She couldn't fight the butterflies in her stomach as her Uber approached the Capitoline Hill. Harry had sent her a text message telling her that he would meet her right inside. He had also told her that he had a ticket for her.
She smiled when she saw him. He was leaning against a column looking through a phamplet. His brown hair was messy and he wore a white t-shirt tucked into his grey trousers. He had a blue neck scarf on and he had stuck his sunglasses on it. She admired him from a far. She loved seeing his tattoos on his tan skin against the stark white of the shirt.
"You can speak Italian?" She asked as she approached him.
"Bits and pieces yeah, but right now I'm reading the English translation." He chuckled and handed her the ticket. Once they had given a lady the tickets they walked through the hallways and into a room full of marble busts.
"There's something so satisfying about walking through a museum." Juliet said quietly as they walked through the gilded room. Harry nodded as they approached a large statue of a roman soldier that was wounded.
"'S so lifelike." He said just loud enough for Juliet to hear. She liked this side of Harry. But, to be fair, she hadn't met a side of him that she didn't like. He was so kind, compassionate, smart and not to mention handsome.
"It's amazing." Juliet was awestruck and not just with the suplutrues all around her. She was awestruck with this man standing before her.
"Yea," He smiled at her. They continued their trek through the museum, stopping to admire pieces here and there. Juliet couldn't remember the last time she had felt this good. She felt so at ease, so happy.
"Harry, why don't you come back to my hotel. I'll order some lunch."
"'d like that Jules."
---
"So, you went on the X-Factor and then never really went back home?" They had finished lunch a while ago. They were now sitting on the balcony of Juliet's hotel room sharing stories and talking about their lives.
"'S pretty much it, yeah. I never expected it to be this way. Sometimes I truly can't believe that this is my life. I get to do the things I love. Best fans in the world." Juliet swore that Harry's eyes had glossed over but a second later they were back to normal.
"Well, you're really good at the things you do. I've only known you for a few weeks, but you're such a nice guy. And your music is really good."
"My music?" He eyed her and gave her a miscevious grin.
"I've listened to it before, yeah." He leaned across the table.
"Told ya not to say things like that. I'm a bit of a narcissist." She smiled.
"Well, sometimes that's okay. I'd say you have the right to be a bit narcissistic Harry." She crossed her arms. She loved this playful banter. Everything with Harry came so easy to her.
"Appreciate it. 'S always nice to have someone in my corner." She looked at her phone and saw the time. It was almost 3. She had been dreading this since she woke up in his bed this morning.
"Harry, I've got to start packing. I need to be heading to the airport soon." He gave her a sad smile.
"Can I help? 'd be more than happy to."
"No, it's okay.I don't have much anyway." She stood up and they walked back into her room.
"Listen Jules, I've had the best day with ya. Ya make me feel good." It was such a simple statement but it made Juliet want to pull him close and stay in this hotel room forever. She decided not to say anything just yet. He pulled her in his arms and held her for a minute. When she finally pulled away, she looked at him with a bittersweet smile.
"Come to New York soon?" She asked and he nodded.
"Can I kiss ya?" He asked her. She felt warmth spread through her body. She smiled and gave him a small nod and within a second his lips were on hers. She wanted to stay in this moment forever, but he pulled away.
He kissed her forehead before whispering, "I'll be seeing ya Jules." He gave her a longing look before walking out of the hotel room. And just like that he was gone. Juliet sat down on the bed and looked down at her hands. He had just left and she already felt so empty. Maybe he wouldn't forget her. Maybe she would see him again. The sooner the better.
---
Juliet landed in New York at midnight. Cal was waiting on her outside of JFK. The ride from the airport to her apartment would take around 45 minutes if they were lucky. Cal pulled out of the parking lot and looked at Juliet in the rearview mirror.
"Did you have a good trip Juliet?" He was so nice. He had been her driver since she moved into her own apartment after college. He was an older man that had lived in NYC his entire life. He was always there when Juleit needed him. She was so thankful for him.
"Oh, yeah it was incredible." She yawned.
"I'll let you sleep then." He smiled as he focused his attention back on the road. Juliet felt her phone vibrate in her bag. She pulled it out and read her newest text message. It was from Harry.
H: Jules, you're probably just now getting back home. Hope your flight was good. I miss you already. H xx
Her heart was beating fast. She smiled thinking of him, laying in bed. His hair was probably messed up from being asleep. He had gotten up so early just to text her. She responded almost immediately.
J: I'm on my way into the city now, it was actually a smooth flight. Thank goodness. Thanks for asking. I miss you too H.
She put her phone down beside her and leaned back into the seat. She felt so happy and content. Now that she had this feeling, she didn't know if she could ever live without it.

Tomita Kazuhiko
Tomita Kazuhiko.
El Marchette Award Gold, RCA, (Londres, 1993); Distinción G-mark / Good Design Award (1998), Departamento de pequeñas y medianas empresas, JIDPO (Tokio), y The International Design Yearbook (1998 y 2002), Londres.

Te dimmi dove sei mi faccio tutta Roma a piedi
Sveglia all'alba pel mercato delle sette
Ho tamponato una Mini ferma al verde
Il ragazzino in auto mi fa "gne gne gne gne"
Il nasone scorre sempre non la smette
Ho perso il treno poi l'aereo pe' Berlino
Vorrei trasformare questa pioggia in vino
A Nettuno i miei ricordi Polaroid
A terra panni sporchi che non stendo (no no no no no)

MARVIN CONTRERAS
On his skincare routine for dry skin and his go-to shops for the best in men’s fashion.
“My name is Marvin Contreras (@marvizzzzle), I'm 19 years old and I live in Farmington, New Mexico. I graduated from high school this past year and I'm currently a freshman at the community college in Farmington. After finishing a semester or two here I will transfer to a 4 year University to get a degree in Journalism/Communications, and after that I plan on transferring to a fashion tech university to study fashion design or fabric styling. I am currently working a part time job as a host at Red Lobster (I know, very glamorous ). I love to go thrift shopping, I love blogging about fashion, I LOVE to listen to music, I love online shopping as well, I like to eat fast food (super bad habit), I enjoy watching Netflix very much, and I also love to read fashion magazines!
Tumblr media
It took me a long time to fully understand the importance of a consistent skincare routine, so when I started I was a little lost but quickly found products that I adored. I guess I'll start with my nighttime routine because it's the more rigorous of my two. First, I cleanse my skin using my favorite cleanser, Neutrogena Naturals Pore Clarifying Cleanser, and my Foreo mini Luna face cleansing brush. When I first found the cleanser I was skeptical because I'd heard mixed reviews about Neutrogena, but the naturals brand is truly a gem. I love how gentle and refreshing the cleanser is while still being effective. I love the mini Luna because it allows me to really get deep into my pores and the vibrating feature feels so cool but also gives a great tightness to your skin when you're done. Next, I apply some type of acne spot treatment. I say "some type" because I'm currently in the process of choosing a permanent product. I've tried three so far and they are, Neutrogena Naturals' Acne Spot Treatment, Murad's Rapid Acne Spot Treatment, and Neutrogena's On the Spot Acne treatment. My skin is very dry and very acne prone due to stress and a terrible habit of touching my face, so that's why an acne treatment is crucial in my routine. So far I've really fell in love with Murad's Acne Treatment because it's the one that's given me the best and fastest results! It's definitely the most pricy of the three, but I believe that investing in good skincare is completely ok! So after the acne treatment I will put on my Caudalie Radiance Serum which I recently got as a birthday gift from Sephora, and I ended up loving it! I think it smells amazing and gives my face a nice glow after use. Then, once I've applied my serum & treatments I moisturize which is uber crucial for any type of skin! I use Ponds Dry Skin Moisturizer and it's most definitely my lifeline! I love how a little goes a long way and also how much it's helped my skin! When I've finished all of this I like to do a spritz of either my Mario Badescu Rose Spray or LUSH's Eau Roma Water. Both products give you a refreshing feeling and I think any kind of face spray is honestly just a good finishing point to a solid skincare routine! Side note: a big pet peeve/necessity of mine when washing my face is always having a clean towel...ALWAYS!
For my morning routine, it's definitely a much simpler and to the point process. I must say, I'm not the best at washing my face everyday but I try my hardest! So first I cleanse again using the Neutrogena Naturals Pore Clarifying Cleanser. Then I moisturize using the same Pond's moisturizer and that's it for the morning! I'm usually in a rush so I try to keep it as quick as possible. In terms of skincare I'd say my holy grail items are: Mario Badescu Facial Rose Spray and the Kate Somerville's Eradi-Kate mask (it's to die for!)

For my "beauty" or make up routine, I don't go crazy at all. I like to give my brows a little bit of life so I usually begin by tweezing and perfecting any spots that need to be polished. Then I brush them out with a spooly brush and finish off by using Benefit's Gimme Brow gel in clear. I love the natural yet polished look it gives my brows, which is why it became my go to! I would really love to try Glossier's Boy brow in clear, and honestly I think I'm going to order it this week. Another thing that I'm passionate about is my lips. I have a pretty big set of lips so I like to keep them healthy and smooth! My lifeline is Vaseline's Cocoa Butter lip balm, it's honestly the best thing to ever happen to my lips! I NEVER leave the house without it.

In terms of fashion, this is where I have the most fun. My personal style is (I'd like to think) eclectic, adaptive, yet classic. Fashion is one of the most important things in my life and I try my hardest to make that present in my outfits. You can always tell how I'm feeling by my outfit. Sometimes I'll be feeling fierce and throw on a sexy cropped top and high waisted denim and other days I feel lazy and just wear a t shirt and Levi's. One thing you need to know about my personal style is that it's all about denim for me. I am an all out denim fanatic! Everything about denim makes it my "right hand piece" if you will. I love the endless amounts of options there is with denim. If I had to choose a Top 5 list of my fashion icons (bc there are way too many to name any less than 5) they would be, 1. Beyoncé: she's my inspiration for everything, but fashion would be a big one because I've always admired her sense of style. It's very fun with lots of quirky twists, yet she manages to look SO chic! 2. Bella Hadid: the minute she burst onto the scene, I was hooked. In the world of models, it wasn't very common to find someone badass yet glamorous, until Bella came along. I absolutely love the way that Bella can add an effortlessly chic feel to any and all of her outfits. I love her versatility and the way she can wear one thing one day, then something completely different and new the next. 3. Solange Knowles: like her big sister, Solange has such a fun and whimsical sense of style, but can still end up on Vogue's best dressed list! I draw so much inspiration from her Insta feed alone, but when I see her outfits anywhere I feel a sense of joy. Anybody that can pull off monochromatic outfits of all colors and proportions like her , is someone I want to be like! 4. Camille Cherrierre: if you don't know who Camille is, you're missing out on worlds of inspiration. She is a British blogger who I've followed for quite some time now, yet I still haven’t gotten tired of her amazing and ingenious outfits. She brings a certain effortless and fresh element to the fashion world and that's what I love about her! 5. Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen: it shouldn't be any surprise that these two princesses are on my list. I have loved and adored everything about these two since I was a child watching "Full House." But it wasn't until they really grew up and began to make a name for themselves in the fashion world that I started to draw inspiration from them. Their laid back yet uber chic senses of style have inspired countless outfits of mine, and it will continue like that. There's something about their minimalistic vibe that almost makes me want to own just two pieces of clothing (but not really, lol).
Tumblr media
When I shop, I'm almost never looking for anything in particular. I literally just shop to shop. And the same goes for the places I shop at. I never have a specific store in mind, I simply just search up whatever store comes to mind and hope for the best. Although that doesn't mean I don't have some favorite stores! Some of my favorites are H&M (I love their message and mission, but also the prices & pieces are spot on), ZARA (also love their pieces and prices, good for designer dupes), Urban Outfitters (always been a fan of their vibe and I looooove the variety of brands and pieces they have), Mango (they have a unique variety of clothes at great prices), Grailed (it's an amazing site for great designer pieces that are being resold at much lower prices), and lastly I get basically all my denim from Thrift Stores. I love the experience of thrifting and I love that you find something new every time! Thrifted denim is honestly such a beautiful thing because the jeans have so much life when I find them, and I love adding my own story to them. Fashion. What a beautiful and alluring thing it is. I love the way that a good outfit can make me feel. I love that fashion is able to be shifted and manipulated to fit an individual's personal style. Fashion is my life and forever will be.
If I had to choose 5 items that are my absolute favorite, I'd say (in order) they'd be:
My vintage Levis denim jacket, I got it for $2 at a yard sale and I've been infatuated ever since.
Every single pair of Levi's 501's that I own. I have about 8 pairs of 501's and I'm in love with each and every one of them. The fit is my favorite and all of them are vintage so they have the amazing vintage fit that is everywhere right now.
My Hanes x Karla Welch white tee is my absolute favorite of my expansive white tee collection. It's crazy soft and clearly made of the finest of materials and it was only $30!! How can you say no to that??
My H&M white leather sneakers are my go-to shoe. When I got them I knew that I'd get the most use out of these. They're the perfect staple shoe and I love how they easily go with any outfit!
My ASOS leather pants are my lifeline during the cold months. I'm obsessed with how they can make any look feel sleek. Eventually I'd like to invest in a much more high quality and durable pair, but these were under $40 and they certainly do the trick!
All of these pieces are significant to me because they define my signature style. They're not only my favorite because of how they look, but how they make me feel. When I'm wearing any of them I feel like I'm at my best.”
