😂 ok, I won't say a word.

It does make sense you being more of a TV person than a cinema one lol If you change your heart someday I have a lot of foreign recommendations to give.

If you don't mind, I'll give you some TV recommendations then:

Ted Lasso reestablishes my faith in humanity during its runtime.

Severance is one of the best things I've watched.

The Good Place is so intelligent I wanna kiss the brain of the screenwriter.

Chernobyl makes me wanna borrow the screenwriter's brain until I get near that good. It's astonishing.

Forever – 2014 – is captivating and lives in a warm place in my heart.

Everybody Hates Chris is perfect. I love it. It's funny, intelligent, captivating, the acting is incredible, the stories feel real and absurd at the same time. I grew up watching it and I can watch the same episodes I've seen dozen times and still enjoy them (my sister and I still use it as a "background noise" in our houses sometimes lol). If I could recommend only one TV show for you to watch it'd be this one. Start watching it in a lazy afternoon after lunch. It's perfect.

Lie To Me is amazingly amazing but I have to warn you it gets cancelled on season 3 (my villain origin story).

Rosemary and Thyme is very charming and delightful.

Unbelievable is incredible, a constant punch in the stomach followed by a hunger for justice.

Dead To Me is enchanting and also lives in a warm place in my heart.

Ratched is one of my favorites TV shows ever. Sarah freaking Paulson is the protagonist. I don't need to say anything else. But I'm gonna add that Cynthia Nixon is also there. The whole acting in the show is one of the best I've ever seen. It leaves you in the edge of your seat, it's so thrilling, intelligent, and gut-wretching. I love it.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is really captivating.

Ten Percent is good. In the first episodes I couldn't care less if a bomb exploded in their office and killed everyone, but it gets better and after the season ended I could not stop thinking about some of the characters I grew to care about (but the bomb could still be an option when the characters I like are not in the office).

Oh yeah, TV I can talk about all day.

Ted Lasso -- I've struggled to get into sports shows in the past, but if the characters are compelling, I could give it a shot

Severance -- I was planning to watch soon. Just haven't had time

The Good Place -- I'm with you, I appreciate Mike Schur's comedy.

Chernobyl -- It did stay with me, I'll say that.

Forever -- was right around the time I got bored of all the network crime and medical dramas :/

Lie To Me -- I never watched, but I remember it because it was on right after House

Rosemary and Thyme -- actually never heard of this one. I'll look into it

Unbelievable -- binge watched the whole thing in one day when I was sick. Super heartbreaking and frustrating, but the payoff was good

Dead to Me -- I second the recommendation! Love a strong female dynamic

Ratched -- I don't know if this is controversial or not, but I loved Sarah Paulson in this a lot more than in American Horror Story

The Haunting of Bly Manor -- One of my favorite shows!! I watched it (and Hill House) a second time just to look for all the ghosts in the background.

Ten Percent -- Haven't seen. It takes me a lot longer to find the motivation to watch a comedy.

Killing Eve is kinda mid

Actually, let me rephrase that. Eve Polastri is a mid character.

Killing Eve, overall, is quite enjoyable. For some reason, it has failed to draw me in and I’ve finally figured out why. Killing Eve is a good show with a terrible protagonist. Eve isn’t a compelling character. Everything about her feels inauthentic and manufactured. She’s obsessive, a fact that is hammered into the audience with the subtlety of a fist to the face. “Look, she’s so kooky, she’s cutting herself to get into the killer’s pov!” “Eve is so kooky she chose to talk to the serial killer/assassin instead of driving the car away because she’s obsessed! Do you see?!” We see. The story might have been better if we saw her descent into obsession. Let us go on that journey with her. Instead, it’s disjointed.

The thing is, I don’t entirely hate Eve. Her relationship with Bill is her shining moment. Her character actually seems more human. Then Bill dies and Eve verbally abuses her husband and punches a bus stop window for dramatic effect. I love me a good “protagonist smashes glass to represent their fractured mental state”, but that moment didn’t feel earned. Eve just pushes at a crack in the glass and then smashes it, so kooky! These impact moments feel forced. I’ll have to see after I watch later seasons if her treatment of her husband makes any narrative sense. She’s incredibly dismissive, which could be great, but it feels disconnected. Sprinkle in some reason why she she’s so distant. Was it always like this or was it a more recent development? Right now, Eve is just a bitch. She physically assaults her husband, who has every right to be worried about their safety. Even if she’s being irrational, which she is and which could be a great moment of characterization, it feels sudden. She hits him, which is a fucking line that you’d think had at least a full season of buildup. If there is a good reason, shoving it in last minute will not make the development satisfactory.

This is not a critique of Sandra Oh, she didn’t write Eve. I have no issue with Eve being an obsessive asshole who berates and assaults her husband and endangers the lives of her friends for her goals. I have issues with it not being properly developed or explained. Villanelle is evil, but it’s an entertaining evil. She’s shrouded in mystery, her behavior is chaotic but in a way that invites curiosity. Who does she work for, why is she doing this, what are her end goals…etc. she’s a compelling character and I look forward to her segments the most. Her interest in Eve feels hollow. Maybe it’s because I’m not personally attracted to Sandra Oh that I don’t see what Villanelle sees. I don’t find anyone in the cast attractive, but I still love most of them.

There’s no tension between them. In Ratchet, Cynthia Nixon and Sarah Paulson had some amazing chemistry, you could feel the sexual tension between their characters in their first meeting. Eve and Villanelle are just “see, she’s buying her clothes and pushing her down, they have chemistry!” I felt nothing watching the last episode of season one. Nothing. There is nothing there. Eve destroying her room made me feel nothing. Idk, being outright told she’s obsessed just doesn’t feel earned. There was more chemistry between Anna and Villanelle in that brief scene. Eve feels more like a caricature than a character. I literally predicted everything she did. Eve stabbing her was so obvious. Commit! why go and bandage the serial killer? Ending had no tension.

I hate to compare a wlw show to a mlm due to the former’s tendency to be canceled or ignored (first kill) but Hannibal is the only other show I’ve seen that has a similar feel. Will isn’t obsessed with the Hannibal until some time has passed. Homeboy has to be dragged to crime scenes. Even Hannibal took some time to become obsessed with Will. We don’t get the head saw scene until season 3. Season 1, Hannibal left him with encephalitis and framed him for murder. There was space between these incidents. I don’t mind Eve falling into obsession quicker, it’s just smacked in our faces from minute one. “I think about you all the time.” Really? I’ve been told this, but I don’t really see or feel it. Season 2 might’ve been a better place to put this scene.

Before someone asks, I dislike Frank too. He is cartoonishly pathetic to the point of satire. It feels strange to have someone that’s comically unrealistic in such a grounded, for lack of a better term, show.

The dialogue in this show…is it a campy thriller or psychological thriller? It’s not doing both well.

I feel like people keep hyping up shows because they have queer rep, but so often they kinda suck. Choni is abusive. ViCait is empty. Catradora wasn’t earned and is toxic. Argue with yourself. I want to watch first kill, but that’s been canceled. Sailor Moon and Utena it is for now. Oh wait, while I dislike it now, Lumity and Scorpio x Perfuma (love them) still exist. Queer stories deserve to have their fair share of subpar stories, but I hope we get more writers that can actually have these relationships properly develop. Censorship and queerphobia kill so many of these and it’s tiring. I want to be able to watch a show and go, there, there amazing couple! It feels like only mlm get that, rare, chance. I’ll take recommendations.

I've always wanted to start criminal minds but I'm a not sure. I feel like it would be my cup of tea since there are a few shows I have watched that are similar but I'm not sure. Can you give me an idea what its like ?

I love B99! Rosa and Holt are my all time favourite. As well as cheddar can’t forget cheddar. Lol

I have a few that I’m watching at the moment. The walking dead, AHS, Psych, flashpoint, lost, the good place. NCIS too. There’s quite a few more I could list but I won’t lol. There so many. I even rewatched a lot of them. Same with films too. The amount of times I’ve rewatched The Heat. Lol. Love that film.

Criminal Minds is really good, they catch serial killers via profiling so its kind of to do with forensic psychology and if you’re doing forensic science it could probably be interesting to you based on that. Emily Prentiss is my wife, shes my fave character so if you watch it you’re not allowed to dislike her 😠

Y'all this is pretty damn angsty not gonna lie- You do get some fluff with Wanda at the end though :)

Also this is my first time posting a Wanda fic or anything like that (other than my old Sarah Paulson wattpad acc) so uhhh please be nice to me?

You sighed softly as you eyed the scars running along your wrists. Your past was no secret. After Hydra you hated yourself, you thought you deserved the pain, the mutilation, the self inflicted scars. It was harder due to your powers, Empathy. You could literally feel the deep seated anger, fear, self hatred and mourning everyone else around you was feeling. Everyone in the compound tended to keep an eye on you. They knew you had a complicated past with hurting yourself. You thought about how they reacted when they found out you'd started again.

Natasha was hurt that you hadn't reached out. Bruce, Clint and Bucky silently worried about you, not wanting to push too hard. They'd been there, they knew how addicting it can be to take what little control you could over your pain.

You never officially talked about it though, not even with Wanda Who you trusted most out of the Avengers. She was your best friend after all.

You never expressed your emotions, ever. Not even at your most overwhelmed. At least not in front of the others.

That was until Steve and Tony tried to stage an intervention.

You were sure they had good intentions, they all did. They wouldn't be there if they didn't care, that's what they kept saying.

But that didn't stop the anger bubbling inside you as they all sat there in the living room, staring at you with worried, pitiful expressions.

Maybe it was because you were caught off guard, or maybe it was because you never allowed yourself to believe anyone cared about you. No one ever took the time to prove it to you.

Maybe that was why, in front of everyone, you finally snapped.

"Y/n you know what we're here to talk about right?" Tony was the first in the room to officially speak, not even flinching at the deadly glare you fixed him with.

"Im assuming it's about my choice of coping mechanisms?" You set your jaw. "I dont see why its such a big deal- I literally heal almost instantly."

"That's not the point" Steve spoke up, his voice even softer than normal. "You're hurting yourself and you're spiraling. We just want to make sure you know that you're not-"

" Dont you dare tell me im not alone." You're tone sharpened dangerously

"y/n i-" Natasha started to speak but you cut her off raising your voice, shocking the rest of the room into silence

"NO!" Nat's eyes widened, Steve shrunk under your heated gaze and Tony avoided eye contact, " because at 3AM on a Friday when all my lights are on and i have whatever music i can get playing in some desperate attempt to kill my thoughts- im still smothered in darkness, choking on the silence and Overwhelmed I AM ALONE"

You didn't notice as Clint, Pepper, and Sam stopped what they were doing to listen to you yelling. Nor did you notice as Bucky, Thor and all the others began filing into the room at the commotion. You didn't even notice Wanda in the corner, twisting her rings on her fingers nervously- She knew this was a bad idea.

"When Heavy thoughts of self hate and what if's swarm and i clutch my tear stained pillow. I look around my room and there is no one." You continued, more anger fueling the projection of your voice. Never wavering. "When i cry out for help desperately but i still find myself watching the sunrise from the bathroom tiles soaked in my own blood the only one there is ME"

Tears filled your eyes but didn't spill over quite yet as you looked around at the shocked, guilty and worried faces around you.

"I'M the only one that hears my plea's for freedom, I am the only one who see's the increase in scars. The only one who has heard my cries is me."

The tears slid down your cheeks as your voice cracked, your true sorrow and emotion showing through.

"Dont tell me im not alone because that is false" You stopped yelling now but you're tone still had an edge sharp enough to cut.

"You're not the ones engulfed in fear and negative emotion that you're not even sure are your own-" Your lip began trembling, your walls crumbling and your resolve fading further with every word you spoke "its me."

"and i-" You broke off with an uncontrolled fit of sobs and practically Whispered as you finished your speech"I am SO alone."

The room was totally silent. You watched through teary eyes and broken sobs as a few of them searched for words but found none as they stared at you, frozen. You wrapped your arms around yourself, digging your fingernails into your sides hard as you cried, feeling helpless.

Your tears only flowed faster as you realized that was how everyone felt.

The whole room, every person in it, all of them felt helpless watching you breaking down.

You dug your fingernails deeper into your skin as the room stayed motionless save for one body approaching you from the safety of her corner.

Wanda gently moved your arms to your sides and wrapped her arms around your waist, tucking her head into your neck as you reciprocated the hug and broke further in her arms.

A few moments after your breathing had steadied, Wanda pulled away, her own tears spilling down her cheeks. She took you by the hand and lead you out of the room, leaving the other stunned Avengers behind.

Without a single word, Wanda lead you to her room and pulled you inside. You quietly complied as she tucked you into her bed and slid in next to you beneath her sheets, pulling you into her arms.

You both sat in total silence, your head resting on her chest as she played with your hair and you listened to her heartbeat.

After what felt like hours, Wanda placed a gentle kiss, firmly to your head and sighed.

"I love you" Her voice shook ever-so-slightly and you felt butterflies erupt in your stomach. "You know that right"

"If i were to believe anyone could love me... it would be you that could make me see jt" You mumbled against her collarbone and Wanda let out a breath.

"I guess ill have to keep telling you until you believe it then." She was upset, and you couldnt stand it. Anyone anyone could be upset with you and you wouldn't bat an eye, but not Wanda. Wanda actually mattered.

"You're mad at me" You mumbled again and Wanda shifted suddenly beneath you.

"What?" She sounded shocked, her accent becoming slightly more prominent and her heartbeat sped up at the statement. "Why do you say that?"

"I can feel you're upset" you deadpanned, lifting your head to look her in the eyes. "I- i just assumed It was my fault"

Wanda's eyes softened and her hand instinctively reached up to carress your cheek. You couldnt help but lean into her touch.

"I could never be mad at you Lyubov (love)" Wanda offered a small, sad smile. "Im just upset that you feel so terrible and I can't fix it, or even help"

"You help" You stated simply, wiping a tear from her cheek "You help more than you know"

"I want to do more" Wanda sighed bringing up her other hand so she had both sides of your face cradled gently in her palms.

"You dont need to Wands" You smiled what you hoped looked like a genuine smile. "It's easier during the day, when you're around... It's the night that.. gets to me"

Wanda stared at you thoughtfully as her eyes searched your own. She bit her lip and you found your eyes drawn to the action, unable to tear your gaze from her mouth as her tongue darted out across her lips as she prepared to speak again.

"Then you're sleeping over here, or i'm sleeping in your room until you feel better" She stated firmly and your eyes widened.

"Wanda, no" You shook your head "I co- i couldnt ask you to do that"

"You didn't ask- i decided." Wanda pressed further "You're severely depressed and quite frankly I'm afraid to leave you alone so please, just let me keep you company"

Your eyes widened as you stared at her in shock. A smirk taking over your features after a few moments.

"How could i say no to spending more time with my favorite person?" You grinned and Wanda let out a releived sigh, you both tried to ignore your respective anxieties at the idea of spending a full night together, sleeping together and waking up with one another.

"Do you want to watch something?" Wanda gestured to the TV on her wall. "You can choose the movie"

"Not really" you sighed contently, your voice barely above a whisper "I just kinda wanna enjoy... you. You bring me peace"

A surprised look crossed Wanda's face as a red hot blush crept up her cheeks.

"Oh-Okay then. Im okay with that" Wanda blushed as she leaned back into her pillows and you tucked your head beneath her chin, taking in her scent. "You bring me peace too Y/n"

Migraine Moments

Part 1

Relationship: Sarah Paulson x Reader

A/N: This is a fic no one asked for. Yes, I wrote this while I’m having a migraine. Yes, this isvmulti-part. This was supposed to be a one-shot but as I was writing, the longer it got that I have to divide it into parts. If you have some requests for a fic/imagines/headcanons, just hit me up!

It was a sunny afternoon at the Los Angeles International Airport when Sarah Paulson's flight touched down. The busy terminal is filled with people yet the paparazzi stuck out like a sore thumb with their high definition cameras and recorders in the full view, ready to pounce when some celebrities arrived. She took one of her luggage from the conveyor belt before her personal assistant insisted that they take care of it.

She remained standing near the belt, waiting for the signal that it's good to go outside. Another full week of press junkets and hotel room service waiting for her.

"You eventually have to take it off," she hears from a distant conversation, not fully paying attention. "I will," the voiced that replied sounded familiar so she turned around to see who it was. [y/n]. Now, Sarah understands fashion. The sparkly, big dresses and the glam of it all but the one thing she'll never get is how a pair of jeans, plain black shirt, and shades can make you look so stunning. Stunning enough to make her hold breath. She quickly brushed the thought when she noticed you have spotted her. A small smile formed on your lips and approached her, planting a kiss on both her cheeks. "When did you land?" You asked your movie co-star. "Just a few minutes before you," she replied. "You look amazing." You gave her a flirtatious smile before replying, "all for you, darling." Sarah felt a blush form in her cheeks. This is how it's always been between the two of you. Flirty banters and witty repartee. She knows it's all in the name of having a good time but that doesn't stop the butterflies in her stomach or the tingle she feels in certain places sometimes.

"Okay," the road manager took both of your attention. "There is press waiting outside, probably some fans. You just have to give them a quick snapshot then we'll be heading for the hotel." Your eyes remained fixed on the floor all throughout the orientation, which your co-star did not fail to notice. The bright lights of LAX are not helping with your migraine. It started when you were on the plane, minutes before the take-off from New York. Your manager insisted that you push through the interviews today but the pain behind your eyes is telling you otherwise. So here you are, spacing out in the middle of LAX with a sea of reporters. To be honest, the only thing that's grounding you is the distinct sweet smell of your friend Sarah. Several of the fans screamed the moment her silhouette reached their line of sight. Not soon after, you can hear the flashing of cameras. "[Y/N], look here!" The photographers bellowed. "Here!" "Smile here, ladies." "Give us a smile here." You winced behind the shades you're wearing. Everything is just too loud. You continued walking until you heard the blonde actress chuckled behind you. "They really love screaming our names, don't they?" "I love screaming your name," you quipped. Both of you paused for a while, clearly taken aback by your response. "You know? 'Cause I'm a fan," you immediately added. To relieve the tension, you ended the statement with a laugh. You continued walking while internally screaming. If you weren't in literal pain right now, you'll be a lot better at filtering your words. Sarah, however, remained frozen for a split second. The idea of you screaming - moaning - her name danced around her head. These scenarios only come to her in the comfort of her bed, in the middle of the night. She gulped, evidently trying to ignore the heat roaming her body. The LA heat is not helping the agonizing rush of blood to her center. Your road manager instructed to stop in front of the cameras for a quick photograph. Sarah quickly positioned herself on your left, keeping a respectable distance. Her publicist, who was with the crew ahead, immediately pushed the two of you together. "This is better for the camera." She then moved out of the way. Better for camera, my ass. They know about your lingering feelings for the blonde. She was, after all, all you can talk about in when you’re with them. This is just them pushing you to admit it to her. If you can take a guess, they probably have bets about it.

Both of you posed for a good 3 minutes when your ride arrives. You bid goodbye to the fans, who were still ecstatic to see their idols, just before you drove away. --- Upon checking into your hotel, the sweet relief of a bed awaits you. The pain in your head remains throbbing. As you were making your way out of the elevator, your publicist reminds you of your schedule. 7 days of promoting the movie. "Make them love it," the very first of many reminders reached your ears. "Make them love you," you scoffed at the idea but you know this is the norm. "Make them love her." Make love with her. Wait! What? "You got that?" Your publicist reiterated. "Loud and clear," you offered a weak smile. It's hard managing a proper conversation with the pain not going away. You swiped your keycard once you reached your room. 1223. The door opened and you can immediately smell the classic hotel mist - freshly cleaned bed sheets and curtains. You began to relax until you noticed something different - a distinct sweet smell of someone so familiar. You entered the room only to be greeted by a certain blonde. In the room. Where you will be sleeping. "Hey, [y/n]!" You winced at her loud greeting. "Hi!" You turned to your publicist, who already knows what you're about to ask. "The production decided that it would be easier to control the paparazzi if we're guarding only one room," they explained rather rapidly. "We'll leave you, ladies." They then closed the door upon leaving. "Oh!" was all you could say. You looked into the room and saw her expectant smile. How can you feel bad when that's what you'll see in the morning? For a whole week? You turned to her and muster the biggest smile you can, despite the killing headache, and said, "So, it's a sleepover."

Hi there. Well, when i say i ship something it means that the relationship interests me. Not that i want those characters to be in a romantic relationship or that i think they're "cute" together. I am also generally only interested in the relationship as it is in canon. And actual positive relationships usually don't interest me. And when they are/can be positive there's usually still something twisted going on (Nygmobblepot certainly has something positive, but they're still two killers who frequently try to kill eachother. I think Athelnar is also positive, but it still started out with Athelstan being a captive who went through trauma because of Ragnar). Lana and Dr. Thredson is an extremely interesting relationship imo. Thredson is so twisted that he actually thinks he could force Lana to play a mother figure to him. And Lana uses that to her adventage. I think this is an extremely realistic portrayal of this sort of situation. Sarah Paulson and Zachary Quinto are also tremendous actors. They sold their roles so well! The characters are also very well written and rounded out. Thredson is a horrible narcissist who believes himself to be the big victim, even when he is a killer, but he does have trauma and his points about the horrible foster system are valid. They're just not an excuse for his behavior, which is what he seems to believe. Lana is my favorite female character of all time. I love that she's ambitious and brave, that she's a character that goes against lesian stereotypes (cause seriously... We need those) and that her story is so inspiring and yet they don't make her some beacon of goodness. She definitely has her bad sides, as we all do. That makes her character realistic imo and more relatable. I love how much their relationship reveals about their character. Thredson pretends to be all upstanding, even while he holds her captive he's still pretending because that's the image he has of himself, but his ugly nature shines through immediately when he loses control. Lana is confronted with all kinds of hardship and while she has a lot of very vulnerable moments she finds strength and belief in herself and what she's capable off. It's not "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" it's "making yourself stronger in spite of what could have killed you" and that's something i aspire to and can sometimes relate to. Especially as i have been through trauma myself.

I read the new chapter of Final Girl and I have some thoughts.

First, how dare you apologize for the word count? Long chapters are a gift and should never be apologized for.

Second, feral reader was fantastic and I loved every bit of it. I loved how well you dealt with and described the aftermath of her coming down from attacking that guy. I liked that she didn’t just shake it off.

Third, all of the stuff with Billy was wonderful. Him being caring and taking care of her in the car, him being so enamored with seeing her like that, the frenetic energy and single-mindedness he had as he headed over to the house and after…damn perfection.

I could never pick a favorite chapter, but damn, this would be up there.

I am nearly convinced you are trying to kill me with how amazing this is and I’ll gladly let you. You are incredible!

Farewell to Spooky Season, AHS Style: Lookbook no.12

Hi to anyone reading,

Happy belated Halloween!

I capitalise it because if I'm gonna recognise any day as sacred, it’s the spookiest one of the year! Halloween 2020 obviously hasn’t been as exciting as usual, parties and club nights being banned has meant there’s been far less opportunities to dress up, but I still managed to get out for the night before they announced the upcoming second lockdown and do a couple of spooky movie nights (and carve a pumpkin!)!

I originally intended for this lookbook to be last minute halloween costume inspo but I was lazy and didn’t manage to get it out on time-a lot of these looks minus the makeup and maybe an accessory or two could work on any day or night out so I thought I’d go ahead and post it now anyway. Celebrating the fashion moments of American Horror Story is something I’ve wanted to do for a while; it’s probably not the first show you’d think of for sartorial inspiration but Mr. Ryan Murphy has fucking fantastic taste in stylists and the first five seasons of AHS in particular, which I’ll be focussing on in this post, have given us SO many amazing looks. The man may be guilty of many things-subjecting us to the character of Will Schuester, trying to turn Richard Ramirez into a thirst trap, embarrassing everyone who raved about how good Scream Queens was when he wrote season 2-but costume related laziness is not one of them. We see more consistency in a Ryan Murphy character’s wardrobe than we do in their story arcs and I respect that because honestly, as much as I love joining in when it comes to ripping into his ability to cohesively bring an AHS season to a close when it airs, I’d probably be the same; if you put Lady Gaga in front of me and told me to write her lines I’d probably end up getting overly invested in what her character was going to be wearing in the scene too.

So! Enough Ryan Murphy bashing from me! I’ll get on with it! Starting with 3 season 1 inspired looks:

Murder House: Elizabeth Short, Tate Langdon and Violet Harmon

When it comes to reflecting on season 1 of American Horror Story, all I can say do is thank the internet overlords that Tumblr has moved on from the romanticising school shooters and wearing normal people scare me tops phase to instead collectively taking the piss out of the “GO AWAY, TATE!”, “YOU’RE ALL THAT I WANTTT! YOU’RE ALL THAT I HAVEEE!” exchange.

In terms of fashion *moments*, whilst season 1 doesn’t stand out as much as the seasons that come after, Violet and Tate’s wardrobes did give birth to a bit of a 90s grunge renaissance with their oversized knits and faded jeans and layering of textures. It did also give us good costumes in the form of Alexandra Breckenridge’s Moira O’Hara and Mena Suvari’s portrayal of the Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Short; unfortunately, I didn’t have a slutty maid costume lying around so I did the best I could at giving the outfit Elizabeth wears when she makes that fateful visit to the Murder House a modern, more party appropriate update.

In terms of season rankings, Murder House isn’t my favourite. It starts off really great but lulls a bit towards the end and I could never get behind Violet and Tate as a couple because you know, one of them is a school shooter who sexually assaults the other’s mum, and that’s a hurdle that I think most couples might struggle to get over irl. That being said, it was the season that started it all and showcased some of the most innovative writing and directing on TV, and it opened up a spot for horror on primetime television which as far as I know was kind of unheard of before then. Back when I first watched it, I had no idea what to expect not only because I’d never seen horror in a serial format but also because it seemed to be able to get away with the kind of storylines you’d expect network executives to fire people over. It introduced us to Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters and Denis O’Hare who would go on to make the show what it is today and more importantly, through Jessica’s glorious portrayal of Constance Langdon, provide us with an endlessly versatile meme format for this trying time.

Asylum: ‘60s Lana Winters, ‘70s Lana Winters, and Sister Mary Eunice McKee

I think we can all agree: Asylum would’ve been a perfect series of television if it wasn’t for the completely unnecessary alien storyline. Like, I get that they fit in with the whole good vs. evil theme as a kind of non-biblical alternative to the idea of a higher, all-powerful being but there was already so much going on that it just wasn’t needed. Aside from that, I think the general consensus amongst watchers of the show is that Asylum has the best writing of any season and I think I’d tend to agree. It’s not my favourite because it’s too depressing to rewatch but if we’re talking the first time round, this is the series that had me hooked. Lana Winters?

Iconic.

Sister Mary Eunice? Iconic. The Name Game? Iconic. Remember when you couldn’t go a day on Facebook without seeing that one photo of Naomi Grossman as Pepper used as the go to “what I really look like” photo in one of those “expectation vs. reality” style posts on your newsfeed? Those were simpler times.

Because this season was mostly situated within the hospital, we didn’t get that many proper outfits but when we did, they were stunning; if I had to state my absolute favourite AHS character of the entire show I’d probably go with Lana Winters and the part her wardrobe played in her characterisation would 100% play a part in that. The late 60s/early 70s was such a wonderful period for fashion and through her character we get to see both of those explored a little. Of course there’s also *that* Sister Mary Eunice scene with the red slip dress and suspenders too which yes, could be a perfect halloween costume, but I also strongly believe should be a perfectly acceptable outfit for any day of the year.

Coven: Misty Day, Madison Montgomery, and Zoe Benson

I hate to be a basic bitch but I have to say it: Coven is my favourite season of American Horror Story. Once you get over the complete waste of Evan Peters’ acting capabilities that resulted from the *choice* to have him play Kyle, the unnecessary rehash of the Evan/Taissa pairing from season 1 in what I can only assume was an attempt to capitalise on the popularity of the questionable Tate/Violet relationship, and the subsequent sacrifice of any interesting character arc we could’ve foreseen for Zoe Benson beyond her obsessing over a resurrected, non-verbal frat boy, it’s a perfect season. A supreme (heh) balance of horror, humour, and character drama, as well as the stunning aesthetics and forever quotable dialogue, make it my go-to season if I’m ever considering a rewatch. And if you disagree, let me jog your memory with the most mainstream (not to get all “normal people scare me” and suggest AHS is not a mainstream show, I literally just mean in the sense that even those who have never watched the show will have seen this) reaction GIF set any FX show has even spawned:

Buzzfeed employees had a field day, Emma Roberts enthusiasts (I mean me) finally saw her cemented as the pop culture icon Scream Queens has since showed us she deserves to be (because not enough people have seen Unfabulous, Nancy Drew or Scream 4) and the gays everywhere rejoiced at the year’s worth of meme fodder they’d been provided with. It was Madison Montgomery’s world and we were truly just living in it.

And the fashion! I mean, Stevie Nicks meets 21st century teenage witches! Come on!

Freakshow: Dandy Mott, Maggie Esmerelda and Elsa Mars

When people talk about the declining quality of AHS, they usually point to Freakshow as the beginning of the end, but I have to completely disagree. I wasn’t a fan the first time round but on rewatch it’s probably the most emotional season of them all; no, there aren’t as many “horrifying” moments as in other seasons and Elsa is probably Jessica’s worst performance (which is still an incredible one by anybody else’s standards), however it makes up for it with the most sympathetic bunch of characters yet, and on the flip side, also one of the most amusingly depraved with Finn Wittrock’s Dandy Mott. Fans usually argue that the season went downhill once *SPOILER* Twisty the Clown was killed off but for me, he really primarily served as the catalyst for the far more interesting devolution of Dandy, who, imo, is the show’s strongest villain to date, rivalled only by Bloody Face. Then there was the episode Orphans too which made me cry buckets, the sole AHS episode to do so.

We got a lot of great fashion content in this season too: the theatrical opulence of Elsa Mars’ wardrobe, “Maggie”’s nomadic fortune teller costumes, and all those twee suits we saw Finn Wittrock in. Highly underrated if you ask me. It seems an odd choice for me to use Elsa’s Dominatrix look as an inspiration for one of my looks here when we have that Life on Mars performance outfit and all the extravagant robes Jessica got to waltz around in for reference buuuut I didn’t really have anything to do the vibrancy of either of those justice so I went with the black leather option which is much more me. Am I saying I moonlight as a dominatrix? Maybe. Lol, no. I wish. It’s not for lack of trying. WHERE ARE ALL THE GENUINE TWITTER PAYPIGS AT!? Your girl wants to insult creepy men and get some new clothes out of it xoxo

Hotel: Hypodermic Sally, Liz Taylor, and The Countess

Hotel is another season that I liked a lottttt more upon rewatch, once I knew I was okay to tune out the (completely predictable and utterly nonsensical) Ten Commandments Killer storyline that so much of the season initially seems to hinge on. I love Chloë Sevigny but the fact that her and Wes Bentley’s wooden John and Alex Lowe are positioned as the protagonists at the expense of the far more interesting Liz Taylor, James March and Hypodermic Sally really does a disservice to what is an otherwise great season upon initial viewing.

The visuals this season are magnificent and I think if I had to pick one character’s wardrobe to steal from the entire cast of AHS characters, it would be The Countess (a toss up between her and Misty Day tbh, so I kinda just settle for low-key channelling both). No fucking idea where I'd wear any of her clothes to but I’d make it work. Liz Taylor and Hypodermic Sally have some amazing looks too-there’s just honestly so much to choose from; that being said, this post wouldn’t be complete without a specific ode to the vampire goddess Elizabeth Bathory, who is everything I want to be in life minus the murderous qualities:

Lady Gaga is really a fucking goddess isn’t she. And people were claiming before they’d even seen it that she couldn’t act? A patriarchal society doesn’t like women that can do it all. Just saying.

The grunge inspired moodboard I just did seemed to get a good reception too so I’ve got some more of them planned.

The Emmys were just a lot to deal with.

The Golden Globes will air live on Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. PT on NBC. Virtual ceremony of course

PS watching the announcement live was a special level of fun wasn’t it? It would have been nice to hear Gillian’s name pronounced correctly but meh, not really a big deal. It happens.
