My bud here asked a very important question: why Tobias stole a very sacred and important book?
The short answer is: because Tobias has a curse and he wanted to find a cure.
OMG HOW- calm down, first things first.
As I said before, when Alex and Elisa started to take their relationship more seriously, Alex would hang out in the Colony using a shrinking potion and preteding to be an imp. He was well accepted as one by Elisa's fellow imps and fairies and they never had many problems with his disguise.
But there was this one, powerful, envy fairy who took notice that something about Alex was... off.

She started to do her own investigations and ended up finding the truth out: Alex was no imp, but a human in disguise. Although, to her, this was actually very good news.

Why? Because this fairy - Irwalia - comes from a family that has been preaching an ancient propecy over a century now. Said prophecy omens that, one day, a being with the strongest of souls - a fairy soul - and the strongest of bodies - a human body - would be born to free the Colony from it's decades of war.
There are a lot of fairy families that preach this prophecy till this day, but all of them are taken as delusionals by most of the Colony's inhabitants. It's impossible to have a being that has a different soul from it's body, it just can't happen. But they hold onto their beliefs firmly regardless.
When Irwalia learned the truth about Alex, she couldn't help but be ecstatic: she had finally found a human inside the Colony's walls. And, if SHE was the one who discovered him first, then she must be the one meant to give birth to this prophetic child… right?

In a vengeful and spiteful spirit, Irwalia decided to not report Alex to the Colony's authorities, but instead take her anger out on what the human and his imp wife treasured the most: their only child.

Alex and Elisa didn't took long to find Toby, afterall she wanted to take her revenge in front of them...

Irwalia cursed Toby with something that not only breaked Alex's heart, but made the child defenseless if he ever encountered a human: if in close proximity to a human, Toby is completely unable to do any kind of magic.
This may not sound like a big deal, but imps, especially imp borrowers, take great advantage from their magic abilities to protect themselves from the sight of humans and their malicious intents. And, of course, Toby would never be able to obtain his full magic potential (which he has a lot of) around his own father.
Aside from all that, his hair is now bright blue, a side effect of the curse that makes it difficult for him to hide from humans and dangerous animals.
Toby grew up not being allowed to leave the Colony EVER because of his curse. So when he became an adult, after getting involved in a lot of trouble inside the Colony, being the little thief and vagabond that he is, he thought-

Unfortunately, he never had the chance to actually seek a cure for his curse in the book because he was discovered for his theft before that, yeah, it was all kind of pointless, he truly sucks at hiding.

I have shown you the Reunion Dinner (团圆饭) we had two weeks earlier due to my brother having to go oversea for his company’s training trip. Behold, here is another of our reunion dinner, albeit the home-cooked version. You saw the char siu, roasted chicken and roasted pork mum bought for the prayer earlier in the day so naturally those appeared on the dinner table. As one of my brother and his family plus my sister’s friend will be coming over, mum added extra dishes to the menu. It is not as luscious as the feast we had at the restaurant but nonetheless, it is still a scrumptious and delectable meal.

A simple Cabbage Stir-Fry with premium ingredients of canned baby abalones and scallops. Sis-in-law was commenting on the cabbage being sweet tasting. Ended up this dish emptied of the food saved for a few pieces of the abalones.

Sis was saying mum sliced the Char Siu too thickly but I on the other hand found them just nice as it offered a better texture. Sweet, charred with a smoky taste and just fatty enough to make it a wonderful eat. The Roasted Chicken (deep-fried actually) was well seasoned and succulent to go with the steamed white rice.

These extra-large Steamed Tiger Prawns were bought in Batam and delivered to our house. As the prawns were fresh, mum just steamed it without any condiment. After deshelling, we added some minced ginger sauce before sending it straight into the mouth.

Another seafood that brother order for us from Batam is this large Red Snapper which is done in a spicy style. Mum only made used of the tail portion as the fish is too big to cook properly in the wok she is using. Fresh and sweet tasting with a little spiciness made this a good dish.

Mum also prepared one of her specialties, Braised Five-Spice Pork Belly with shiitake mushrooms and hardboiled eggs. For the soup, it is Pork Ribs Soup with fried pig tendons, fish balls, corn, lettuces and dried scallops to sweeten it.

The side dishes are Pickled Daikon and spicy Nyonya Achar which is a South Asian pickled food made from a variety of vegetables and fruits preserved in brine, vinegar, edible oils and various South Asian spices.

Even though I took a little of everything, I still ended up with a Full Plate. As I slowly tucked into my meal, are you also enjoying your reunion dinner?

A/n: This is a grammatical abomination in terms of punctuations amongst other things. Also, is “ofcourse” an indian word of sort? Because autocorrect throws a fit and always denies that this word exists. Edit: got the error, dw I fixed it, of course.

New student in the middle of the semester. You couldn’t go ignored at all. Specifically by a certain topper of the class.
Afterall you put his sport scholarship at risk. How could he ignore you.
So when that one common course came along, he saw this as an opportunity.

Because in his head, it wasn't the curiosity of seeing pretty little earrings or the little dot between your eyebrows or that pretty smile that attracted him to you; it was the fact that he wanted to win. Or maybe both.
Graciously failed to flirt as soon as he saw what you were working on.
The complex problem that your professor had assigned. THE COMPLEX PROBLEM. One which, even he, could not solve.
No matter how many times he tried to derivate. But you, were nearing the answer. That’s just not acceptable now is it.
So, now he had to distract you, the stakes were higher.
So when he saw the chance, he started the debate with you. To try and prove you wrong.

Eventually, just that one lecture was not enough to be debating over problems of all things.
So you took over each other’s lunches as well.

If it couldn’t get any better, you were also good at chemistry, but decided to drop it due to excess course load.
So it didn’t surprise Kuroo when you could correct his assignment and tell him that he had attempted a 10 marker incorrectly.

Well, he just justified it in his brain that he had miscalculated your actions as liking him back.
He decided to save himself the future embarrassments and never to talk to you again.
Gave up on the idea of him liking anyone else ever again
Lost the meaning of life.
Caved into depression.
All this in the span of 4 minutes 33 seconds that you were gone.
You came back with a “I feel the same” text on the graph as functions for his confession.
Boy lit up.
Deflated again

processing grief when no one around is grieving the same way is so weird. my mum & uncle went to bangladesh the day my grandmas passed i only grieved with them for about 6 hours. i don’t have much family from my mums side in the uk, the only one close is my mums cousin who came to stay to look after us over the weekend but had to leave for work. no one else is as sad as me. they feel sad yes but mostly they just are sad for me. and i can’t express how i feel to them because they don’t get it. how can i explain to my cousins that im so sad i burst into tears at the sight of a passionfruit because it reminds me of my grandma too much. or that i cant stand to look at the jar of boroi achar on the kitchen countertop because its the last achar my nanu will ever make for me. my mum will understand but she’s not here & i can’t tell my sister because i need to preserve her mental health too

大家好! My third attempt at plant-based protein was better - breakfast was yong tau foo and boy was there a wider variety of options. Goodness in this bowl: tofu, fu pi (tofu skin), carrot, brinjal, broccoli and tomato along with thick bee hoon (rice vermicelli). To complete the meal: freshly squeezed unsweetened green apple juice. Full disclosure: the tofu and fu pi had a thin layer of fish paste as a filling; apart from that, this meal comprised of mainly plants - also, why do I feel as though I'm eating like a giraffe when the food tastes so delicious?

I took Pa to a popular vegetarian restaurant when he joined me for a plant-based meal. He chose crispy beancurd skin with sesame rice bento, which came with braised mushrooms and firm tofu and achar (pickled veggies); I had noodles topped with carrot and lettuce and soup which came with tomato, fu pi, konnyaku 'prawns', baby nai bai (similar to baby bak choy), shiitake, enoki and shimeji mushrooms, as well as Napa cabbage. We shared a trio of shiitake, enoki and shimeji mushrooms as well as carrot braised with Angelica herb. Everything was so darned delicious, we agreed to return! Finally, to wash it all down, unsweetened freshly squeezed orange juice.

Back to mammal protein, it's been ages since I had fen si (glass vermicelli), so I ordered some and the stall helper piled a heaping portion onto my plate. Along with my carbohydrates, I had steamed fish, stirfried beansprouts with carrot and stirfried okra. The fen si was so tasty, I finished everything! Washing everything down with refreshing freshly squeezed unsweetened guava juice, I reflected on the recent addition of plant-based protein to my meals. To be frank, I enjoyed the experience and don't mind eating more of it.

I had a unique pork ball along with my stirfried bee hoon (rice vermicelli), bitter gourd and hairy gourd (meals just look more appetising when there's colour). It was handmade with minced pork, but there was also minced onion, carrot and even red chilli in it. I wished I'd ordered 2 instead of 1 because it was so yummy! The stall was generous with veggie portions, so the meal was very filling. To end the meal: hot tea.

Encouraged by the better plant-based protein results this time around, I'll continue searching for dining out options before moving onto how to include more plant-based protein for meals at home. Not only do tofu and tofu products taste good, I felt physically better and had more energy after eating them. They pair amazingly well with soup noodles and a ton of veggies too! I just wish there're better vegetarian options; it's hard to find tofu soup noodles unless I go to a vegan/vegetarian cafe/restaurant or have yong tau foo, OR, I may just need to look harder. 下次见!

THE GREAT LEMON PICKLE
I am not an expert on pickles. My mother was. The shows like The Pickle Nation on Epic Channel helped my mother in honing her art. She could make the pickles out of anything.
Being an Indian, I am privileged with the presence of endless fruits and vegetables ready to be pickled and eaten as a side dish. Sometimes as the only dish with Rotis too. My favorite is mango pickle( aam ka achar).

Well, if we take the cue from this movie and many others, preparing pickles is taken as an intensely domestic activity. One cannot be professional and smart if one prepares pickles. But, as my mother used to say and as I observed over the last 15-20 years, one cannot prepare really tasty and sustainable pickles, if one is not smart. But, why stereotype it?
There is a reason why some dishes are referred to as grandmother dishes because they need precision. Our generation cannot be trusted with that. My mother had inherited the art of pickling not only from her mother and grandmother, also from her neighbors’ mothers and grandmothers. This activity was very much like the one we got to see in Sasural Genda Phool song. Waheeda Rehman, Aditi Rao, Sheeba Chaddha, and others lovingly prepare spices and oils to put them together. Again, a domestic scenario.
But, what about the people who don’t have nanis and dadis with them? Thanks to Covid, many of us don’t even have mothers, to begin with. Does the tradition die here? Should it? I mean, people (primarily women) working 9-9 on their laptops or in their office cannot and honestly, should not bother themselves with these preparations. So, what should be done? Switch to Goldee, Tops, Mother’s pickles? Or simply don’t eat them. Eventually, we don’t eat them. So then what?
Then, comes the deadly viruses which push us to go inwards and start healthy and traditional eating habits. Back to desi daal, chawal, sabzi, roti, salad, and achar for the good gut bacteria. After all, we all want to live a healthy and longer life. Thus, begins the search for the recipes.
Now, if a person is like me who, thanks to her mother, knows the difference between a good achar and a badly prepared one, cannot settle for a less than a perfect recipe. We turn to Youtube. The ultimate dadi and nani of 21stcentury. If you are a Hindi-speaking Indian, you must have come across tons of channels giving you the recipe on a tap. Keep scrolling and lo behold, you find Nisha Madhulika. I tell you, this woman has literally been a savior of my life. With the wisdom imparted by my mother and her tips and tricks, one can make anything. Well, I know, she prepares only vegetarian food primarily without onions and garlic. But, I also know, that my Bengali friends have their Nisha Madhulika in Bong eats. Basically, youtube is there to save the day, if by any chance you are into cooking.
You must be thinking, why I am rambling about here. If you are a person like me who wants to have the traditional delicacies in your life, you would understand how life becomes without any magical hand with you. Because I love them and the onus of preparing them solely is on me. Obviously, because I want them. Home-made, simple, and healthy. Hence, I made one. The simplest, the healthiest, and the Digene of every lower-middle- and the lower-class person suffering from indigestion, flatulence, etc. NEEMBU KA ACHAR ( Lemon Pickle).
The recipe is really simple:
Take as many lemons as you want, depending upon the money you have and the distance between the market and your home. Distance varies according to the love for it and willpower to go there. If you are lucky, you will find a pheriwala with just as juicy and big lemons as you might find in the market.
Select the lemons which on touch tell you that they have thinner skin. In Uttar Pradesh, one finds the best and cheapest lemons in the month of December- January.
I remember how my mother used to scan the entire market in one walk and then go back to a seller who would have 3-4 mounds of lemons. She would then try to scavenge the juiciest lemons from the mound of middle-range price. Like, 8 for Rs.10, 6 for Rs.10, 4 for Rs.10.
Soak the lemons for 5-6 hours (currently, I don’t know why, but if I will come to know, I’ll surely share)
Cut the lemon into 4 pieces; before cutting, remove any trace of water present. Dry them with towels. they look cute this way and( the jar looks fuller, believe you me).
Take a bowl, add the lemons, add carom seeds ( if I take 20 lemons, I add seeds till each lemon gets coated with 7-8 seeds), add salt. MIX THEM UP.
My mother always added two salts- black salt and table salt. It really takes the taste a notch up.
For my friends who are as beginner as I am, I added 5-6 spoons of salt for 20 lemons and left the matters to god.
Now, the trickiest part is the jar selection. You might want to have a jar that displays how able and desperate you are. I took a glass jar with a wide mouth. So that I could take a pickle out without having my hands pickled every time. WASH AND DRY IT. Leave it in the sun for a few hours if you can. Not a trace of water should be left otherwise your pickle will turn into fungal vanilla ice cream.
Place the contents into the jar. Shake well and leave it in the sun.
If you live in an apartment, appoint a person to put the jar on the terrace and bring it back at dusk. Or if you want leaner legs, do it yourself. Do this for at least a month.
Shake the contents once in a while without breaking the jar.
After 25-30 days, taste it. If the salt is less, add some more; if the salt is extra, blame it on god.
If it is perfect, then what are you waiting for? EAT THE DAMN PICKLE! ( if you are a fan of simple pickles, if not, please don’t call me names, ask Nisha aunty!)
WHEN LIFE GAVE ME LEMONS, I PICKLED THEM.
As the days went by, I saw the lemons submerging into their own pulp and juice. The jar was emptying. The anaerobic fermentation process under warm sunlight took all the shine, shape, and superficial beauty of lemons away. Just the way hundreds of suns would disappear under the sea and leave bright orange radiance, the feeling of longing for love and care, and the sense of accomplishment. What was left after a month of the grueling process was their pure and unadulterated essence. Is this what hardships do to us? Are we submerging into our own essence with the constant struggle of finding ourselves? What about after struggling with grief, the pain of losing loved ones, and pieces of oneself with them? Would we know ever? I hope we do. After all, we are just small pickles in this huge jar of the universe.

Good Morning! I'm not one to comment or create posts... But I stayed up until 03:00 in the morning, reading Fragments of Your Soul.
I want to thank the PL and Shifters teams. Well I'll try to make a brief review, without spoilers. From now on, forgive me if I write or type something wrong. I only slept 3 hours tonight... Anyway, let's go.
Is the book worth reading? YEA! MUCH!
Is the book too big? YEA! But I guarantee you all: no page or scene is unnecessary.
Do you have hot scenes? Few.
It's romantic? It depends on what each reader means by romantic.
Does it have a happy ending? oh! This is the cat's jump!!!! What is happiness? Guimarães Rosa says that "...happiness, we find it in times of chance." AND? READ TO UNDERSTAND.
I'll try to explain...The book follows the structure of ALL books that recreate, or create new mythologies. Anyone who has read Tolkien, Lewis, Frank Herbert will understand. I think it follows the structure of Scandinavian sagas (beowulf type), but I could be wrong...
When I started reading the book I realized where the plot was going: first, the protagonist, Arvid is introduced in her world. His characteristics, mainly psychological (interesting that in her case, the physical doesn't matter, because we'll be very interested in Loke's physical characteristics, and only later, we'll notice his emotional characteristics....). Then how she ended up in the Shadow World. Then the Arvid saga begins: learning to live in a new world, new customs, new languages, finding a way to return to the World of Light. With that, we see her interacting with the other characters.
Eventually, we meet the antagonist, who is also the protagonist (read!). But we're STILL focused on Arvid's new life and the challenges and heartaches she has to go through. Halfway through the book we realize that NOTHING is what it seems, and the story shifts focus and we begin to follow Arvid and Loke's interaction. And from then on I can't say anything else, because I'll give spoilers.
But why is the book good? Because despite dealing with legends, myths, supernatural beings, all characters are in the same struggle as us: earning a living, getting a job, going to college, paying the bills, falling in love with the wrong person, falling in love with the person right, wrong with the right person, right with the wrong person, and, above all, live with every act and choice of everyday life. We've all done things we regret. We've all regretted that we didn't do some things. And we've all had to close the past and understand that when we make a decision, we must back it up and learn to put an end to what's over. And moving on, even when we're finished physically, emotionally, because the world won't stop because we're sad, desperate, or in mourning. The world goes on. The pain is ours but the happiness is also ours. That's why I liked the book: life gave Arvid a lemon and she made a caipirinha out of it. She did what she had to do, with what she could do at that moment. And Loke, the god of Chaos, was what he was: the chaos we all carry inside of us: unfulfilled wishes, or very well-fulfilled wishes that took us the wrong way.
I warn you here: Loke is straight-forward. Many will be bothered by things and revelations about them. I read it myself and said: what is it like? But keep an open mind. Accept the God of Chaos without prejudice. We all have a dark, chaotic little place inside us. Anyone who has done psychoanalysis knows what I'm talking about.
Loke represents the unconscious... Arvid the conscious. Only in this book, the id is stronger. It's up to Arvid to bring the balance... Have you read The Power of Myth? The Hero with a Thousand Faces? These books tell us that we are all on a lonely journey in search of ourselves. When we put together the fragments of our souls, we are whole and we can love each other and love each other. So... we can say that Arvid and Loke, each in their own way, were on a lonely journey that, at some point, they found each other. What were 2 paths merged into one. And they knew how to appreciate the beauty of this meeting, transforming the 2 paths into a single one...
For me, the ending is VERY ROMANTIC and the book is worth it. Insist. Read a different book. Books like that are good for the soul. They bring our fragments together and make us whole, with a smile on our lips, because in the end, we realize that we all just want the hope of being happy. I don't pretend to sound cultured, erudite, nor am I a psychologist/psychoanalyst, but this book reminded me of so many things I learned about psychoanalysis!
Loke is not immoral or chaotic: he is what he is. Someone with his power (shifter and that's the only spoiler I'm going to give) can appreciate life, sex, nature, in a way that we mere humans would never understand. What for us is immoral, chaotic, dirty, perverse, for him, is a fragment of his own soul. I believe his emotions are very basic. He kills because he can, he has sex and falls in love (in many ways - READ) simply because he can. That's why he's all emotion (ID).
As for Arvid, the human, theoretically like all of us, could do the same: kill, love, whatever. But what prevents and prevents us is the deep moral sense and innate charity (EGO). Not that Arvid is a completely rational being. She is passionate, violent and loyal. But her moral sense is what Loke lacks, and Loke's self-centeredness is what Arvid lacks. In other words: a soul is a jigsaw puzzle of fragments of light and shadows, of morality and immorality. Of good thoughts, and perverted thoughts. Of purity and perversity. Of goodness and badness. What makes us human is the ability to know that everyone has a light within them, even when we only see apparent darkness. Arvid saw the light within Loke and Loke saw the darkness within Arvid. Accepting this in yourself and in others is the great adventure of life.
But, more than that, I believe the great lesson of the book is: HAPPINESS IS A DAILY FIGHT. There is no such thing as an entirely happy period. Over 24 hours a day, we experience good, bad, bad, stressful, because life is like that. Alongside the passionate kiss of his partner (o), there is the perrengue of not having money to buy the shoe; beside the job approval, there is the hassle of waking up at 5 am to take the bus. That's life. It's knowing how to live: knowing when to invest with everything for a dream and when to put a stone on the subject, because the subject is over. That's Arvid's great virtue: knowing when to insist and when to give up. This is the lesson that we should take for life... because the subject is over. Bom dia! Não sou de comentar ou criar posts....Mas fiquei acordada até às 03 horas da manhã, lendo Fragments of Your Soul. Quero agradecer às equipes do PL e do Shifters . Bom vou tentar fazer uma breve resenha, sem dar spoilers. Desde já, me perdoem se eu escrever ou digitar algo errado. Dormi só 3 horas essa noite....Enfim, vamos lá. O livro vale a pena ser lido? SIM! MUITO! O livro é muito grande? SIM! Mas eu garanto a todas vocês: nenhuma página ou cena é desnecessária. Tem cenas hot? Poucas. É romântico? Depende do que cada leitor entende por romântico. Tem final feliz? ah! Esse é o pulo do gato!!!! O que é felicidade? Guimarães Rosa diz que "...felicidade, a gente encontra em horas de acaso." E? LEIAM PARA ENTENDER. Vou tentar explicar...O livro segue a estrutura de TODOS os livros que recriam, ou criam novas mitologias. Quem leu Tolkien, Lewis, Frank Herbert, vai entender. Eu acho que ele segue a estrutura das sagas escandinavas (tipo Beowulf), mas posso estar enganada...Quando comecei a ler o livro eu percebi onde o enredo ia levar: em primeiro lugar, a protagonista, Arvid é apresentada em seu mundo. Suas características, principalmente psicológicas (interessante que no caso dela, o físico não importa, porque vamos ficar muito interessadas nas características físicas do Loke, e só depois, vamos reparar nas características emocionais dele....). Depois, como ela foi parar no Mundo das Sombras. Daí começa a saga da Arvid: aprender a viver num mundo novo, costumes novos, línguas novas, achar um jeito de voltar para o Mundo da Luz. Com isso, vemos ela interagindo com os outros personagens. Lá pelas tantas, conhecemos o antagonista, que também é protagonista (leiam!). Mas AINDA estamos centrados na nova vida de Arvid e os desafios e tristezas pelos quais ela tem que passar. Na metade do livro percebemos que NADA é o que parece, e a história muda de foco e começamos a acompanhar a interação de Arvid e Loke. E a partir daí eu não posso falar mais nada, porque vou dar spoilers. Mas por que o livro é bom? Porque apesar de tratar de lendas, mitos, seres sobrenaturais, todos os personagens estão na mesma luta que nós: ganhar o pão de cada dia, conseguir trabalho, entrar na faculdade, pagar as contas, se apaixonar pela pessoa errada, se apaixonar pela pessoa certa, errar com a pessoa certa, acertar com a pessoa errada, e, principalmente, conviver com cada ato e escolha do dia a dia. Todos nós já fizemos coisas das quais nos arrependemos. Todos nós já nos arrependemos de não termos feito algumas coisas. E todos nós já tivemos que encerrar o passado e entender que quando tomamos uma decisão, devemos bancá-la e aprender a colocar um ponto final no que acabou. E a seguir em frente, mesmo quando a gente está acabado fisicamente, emocionalmente, porque o mundo não vai parar porque estamos tristes, desesperados, ou em luto. O mundo continua. A dor é nossa mas a felicidade também é só nossa. É por isso que eu gostei do livro: a vida deu um limão pra Arvid e ela fez uma caipirinha com ele. Ela fez o que tinha que fazer, com o que dava pra fazer naquele momento. E Loke, o deus do Caos, era o que era: o caos que todos nós carregamos dentro de nós: desejos não realizados, ou desejos muito bem realizados que nos levou para o lado errado. Já aviso aqui: Loke é direto na fala. Muitos vão se incomodar com as coisas e revelações sobre eles. Eu mesma lia e falava: como é que é? Mas tenham a mente aberta. Aceitem o Deus do Caos sem preconceitos. Todos nós temos um lugarzinho escuro e caótico dentro de nós. Quem já fez psicanálise sabe do que eu estou falando. Loke representa o inconsciente....Arvid o consciente. Só que nesse livro, o id é mais forte. Cabe a Arvid trazer o equilíbrio.....Vocês já leram O Poder do Mito? O Herói de Mil Faces? Esses livros nos dizem que todos nós estamos numa jornada solitária em busca de nós mesmos. Quando juntamos os fragmentos de nossas almas, ficamos inteiros e podemos nos amar e amar o outro. Então...podemos dizer que Arvid e Loke, cada um a seu jeito, estavam numa jornada solitária que, em algum momento, se encontraram. O que eram 2 caminhos se fundiram em um. E eles souberam apreciar a beleza desse encontro, transformando os 2 caminhos em um único....Para mim, o final é MUITO ROMÂNTICO e o livro vale a pena. Insistam. Leiam um livro diferente. Livros assim fazem bem pra alma. Juntam os nossos fragmentos e nos tornam inteiros, com um sorriso nos lábios, porque no final, percebemos que todos nós só queremos a esperança de sermos felizes. Não tenho a pretensão de parecer culta, erudita, e nem sou psicóloga/psicanalista, mas esse livro me lembrou tantas coisas que eu aprendi sobre psicanálise! Loke não é imoral ou caótico: ele é o que é. Alguém com o poder dele (metamorfo e esse é o único spoiler que eu vou dar), pode apreciar a vida, o sexo, a natureza, de uma maneira que nós, meros humanos, jamais compreenderíamos. O que para nós é imoral, caótico, sujo, perverso, para ele, é um fragmento da própria alma. Eu acredito que as emoções dele são muito básicas. Ele mata porque pode matar, ele faz sexo e se apaixona (de diversas maneiras - LEIAM), simplesmente porque ele pode. Por isso ele é todo emoção (ID). Já a Arvid, a humana, teoricamente como todos nós, poderia fazer o mesmo: matar, amar, sei lá. Mas o que a impede e nos impede é o profundo senso moral e a caridade inata (EGO). Não que a Arvid seja um ser completamente racional. Ela é apaixonada, violenta e leal. Mas o senso moral dela é o que falta em Loke, e o egocentrismo de Loke é o que falta em Arvid. Ou seja: uma alma é um quebra-cabeça de fragmentos de luz e sombras, de moralidade e imoralidade. De bons pensamentos, e pensamentos pervertidos. De pureza e perversidade. De bondade e maldade. O que nos torna humanos é capacidade de saber que todos tem uma luz dentro de si, mesmo quando só vemos a escuridão aparente. Arvid viu a luz dentro de Loke e Loke viu a escuridão dentro de Arvid. Aceitar isso em si mesmo e no outro, é a grande aventura da vida. Mas, mais do que isso, eu creio que a grande lição do livro é: A FELICIDADE É UMA LUTA DIÁRIA. Não existe um período inteiramente feliz. Ao longo de 24 horas do dia, passamos por sensações boas, ruins, péssimas, estressante, porque a vida é assim mesmo. Ao lado do beijo apaixonado da companheira (o), tem o perrengue de não ter dinheiro pra comprar o sapato; ao lado da aprovação no emprego, tem a chatice de acordar às 05 horas pra pegar o ônibus. A vida é isso. É saber viver: saber quando investir com tudo por um sonho e quando colocar uma pedra no assunto, porque o assunto acabou. Essa é a grande virtude da Arvid: saber quando insistir e quando desistir. Essa é a lição que deveríamos levar para a vida..... Resenha da Jô P.

most of my wips are set in the same world but on different continents and in different time periods. for example, a group that brought the Ukrainian language influence to Draiobia in Indigo Wars is from the area that Remnants takes place in, hence why Remnants also has a strong Ukrainian language influence. except Indigo Wars is set in 719 and Remnants is set in 1674.
i don’t have a map for Remnants yet, but here is the map for IW:

so you can (hopefully) see the different language influences in all countries here. the very top country, without any named cities visible, is Achar. below that is Edristan, then Draiobia, then Echium is the little island off the south of the continent.
then in Remnants, the countries are Kethyia, Yetrar, Vrarok, and Esmudor. the cities (all in Kethyia) are Brenik, Pyarovsk, Lesopa, Marlytsia, and Nemný.
i make extensive use of Fantasy Name Generators when i’m naming places. 
for countries/kingdoms: i use either the Continent, Country/Nation, or Kingdom name generators on the site. sometimes i’ll dip into others if i want a place to sound particularly outlandish, but i’ll open a few in different tabs and click through until i find something i like. i’ll also save ones i like but that aren’t right for the project in a different document to refer to later.
for cities: i decide what kind of linguistic influence i want the setting to have, then find the appropriate generator on the site. i don’t keep strictly to one language influence, bc i prefer to believe that people can share culture and language and space without killing each other. on the IW map above, there are cities whose names are derived from French (West Europe), English (aka the basic “City Name” and “Fantasy Town Name” generators), East Europe, West Asia, and Southeast Asia. i think i even pulled some names from the South Europe generator.
once i’ve picked a generator, i’ll put together a list of names then decide where to place them and how important i want them to be to the story. for example: Nemný is a great name for a city, but placing the accent is a pain (this is from someone who has an accented letter in their first name) so it has been relegated to a less important role in the story.
i wish i had a better answer, but the truth is that i also suck at naming places and allow Emily from Fantasy Name Generators do most of the work for me. i just click “generate” until i get enough names to populate the part of the world i’m working on.

I had to wait until the couple stopped holding hands, and the other woman said something and started walking towards the stalls. The woman I wanted to meet stood with her feet in the receding seawater. She tucked her hair and searched for shells and crabs. I had to tell her about the dream of hers that I'd caught.
"Do you remember the banners?" I asked her. It made her look back at me, squinting, trying to figure out what an old lady like me wanted to do with her.
"They were in so many colours, do you remember?" I asked. I'd walked on these sands every day of my life. No one knew how to walk fast on them like I did.
"What are you talking about?" she asked.
"Last night, you dreamt about banners and streamers and ribbons. They'd taken over the entire city, and the people were just walking confetti."
Like a statue in the sea, she stared at me without a movement on her face. I've seen that expression before—like I was a grotesque, walking gargoyle, or a sparkling unicorn.
"And your partner was with you, wasn't she?" I smiled at her. "She was the only one who was real, and she was driving over all the confetti people."
No reaction, even now. It happens. Shock can absolutely paralyse your mind like that—it makes you wonder if you're living in reality, or a dreamworld, or maybe even something else.
"Let me introduce myself, I'm Ms. Achare," I held out a hand for her to shake. "It's pronounced 'ah-tsuh-ray'. Not 'ah-chuh-ray'. Blame my dad for the spelling, god bless him."
She glanced at my hand, like she was checking for one of those shock devices the kids play with.
"I'm sorry, have I been too abrupt?" I took my hand back.
"How do you know about my dream?" she finally asked, holding a hand behind her ear to keep the hair back against the onslaught of the sea wind.
"I catch dreams, you see. If you sleep at the beach, here, in front of my bungalow," I said and pointed towards the blue-walled building I live in. "Then, the sea wind and the waves carry your dream to me."
She glanced at the stalls now, hoping to catch a glimpse of her girlfriend. "What happened in the dream?"
"Your partner massacred everyone in town with her glossy red car, and you cried and wept, you asked her to stop running over all the confetti people."
"Yeah," the woman said. "Fuck."
"Do you want the full dream? You can have it, the full memory of it, right to the end. If you'll come with me to my bungalow, I can swipe your card. Or if you have cash..."
"I don't want that fucking dream," she frowned at me. "Keep it."
This happens, sometimes.
The partner was coming now, hurrying along in a jog to make sure she caught what was going on.
"That's quite alright," I smiled. "I'll add your dream to my inventory, then. Maybe someone else will find value in it."
"What's up?" The partner smiled, and then dropped her smile when she saw her girlfriend upset.
"Just some delusional old lady who wants to sell my 'dream'," the woman shook her head and held her partner's hand.
They hugged each other, tightly, and I could tell that the woman I'd been talking to was upset now. But the partner, she looked at me throughout the hug.
I know a customer when I see one.

Honestly, I have never had it so I will give them the benefit of the doubt but the thing is you have to prepare Achar for months and white people don't do that and there are no spices. It just terrifies me😖😖
