i was gonna put this on a reblog to this post but i decided it needed to be its own post so here we go

LOOK AT HIM!!!

most other trainers will be super badass or cool whenever theyre terastallizing their pokemon. but kieran just kinda stands there devoid of life. he looks like hes not even there. almost like he's just... dissociating through the whole thing

you can also see eyebags that his teal mask model didn't have. he's been working himself to the absolute bone to get stronger. another character (i forget who) even says hes been sacrificing sleep just to get stronger. its very obviously been taking a toll on him

but looking back on the battle as a whole, this wasnt even the only time where he looked dull and lifeless. for the entire battle, when hes not being dramatic on purpose, he just looks so out of it

you cant look at these pictures and tell me hes mentally present. the left picture isnt even timed to make him look like that. his expression is like that the entire time hes giving that line of dialogue.

and again, you can see visible eyebags!!!

i think part of it is that hes imagined the battle against the protagonist so many times since getting back from kitakami that it's feels like it's already happened to him, and he's just reliving a memory.

maybe another part is since hes gotten back, hes just been battling non stop when he has the chance. to him its just another battle. initiate, defeat, get stronger. rinse and repeat. its so repetitive that half the time he doesnt even know who hes battling. i feel like thats the case here, maybe sometimes he forgets hes even battling the person that he became this strong to defeat in the first place

i think why he did this to himself is because of more than "just getting stronger". after everything that happened in kitakami: gaining a friend, only for them to lie to and betray him about the thing he loves most, then for them to get closer with his sister, who would consistently shut him down, then on top of it all, ogerpon chose us, and even in trying to battle us for her, we beat him.

that is a lot to have happen to you in just a couple days, so i think part of the non stop training is him trying to cope. in trying to make up for "being too weak", hes also trying to escape reality and forget that those things even happened. he looks so out of it for the entire battle because he is. thats why he has such a reaction when we use ogerpon against him in battle. because by doing that, were reminding him

this is all part of why he freaks out so hard when we beat him. aside from his whole complex of getting stronger specifically to beat us, its because hes already imagined beating us so many times that to him, it already kinda happened in his sleep deprived mind. its because hes won battle after battle since getting back from kitakami, so after being in this rinse and repeat cycle of battling and winning, us losing causes him to finally snap out of it.

after the protag wins, hes genuinely confused that he lost. but he knew how strong the protag was going into this. i think its because, for the majority of the battle, due to not being mentally present, he forgot he was battling us.

this, as well as how often he wouldve imagined him beating us, explains very well how surprised and shocked and panicked he is that he lost. "this wasnt supposed to happen" because it was just another battle, and he wins battles. "this wasnt supposed to happen" because he already imagined him beating us so many times that it had to have been real, right?

and because this monotonous cycle he was in that was actively draining him of energy was broken by us beating him, everything that he hadnt had the energy to process since training is hitting him like a truck now. ogerpon, the betrayal, how he kept losing to us, how he just lost to us right this moment, its all too much and he cant handle it. and so he crumples to the ground and has a mental breakdown

i didnt mean to turn this into a whole character analysis on kieran but i have a LOT of thoughts on his character and how hes written

if you fall asleep while the two of you are cuddling he becomes stiff and tries his best not to disturb you

he'll glare daggers at anyone who might disturb your slumber since he cant get up and shoo them away

he knows everything you like or dislike, your little habits and characteristics

the moment he notices you falling asleep any where and everywhere he starts doing things to make you more comfortable

if he doesnt have a blanket he'll use his jacket as a blanket

he finds your unique ability quite cute and he might tease you about it, but in a friendly way

if anyone else teases or bothers you about it tho he'll immediately put an end to it

he does get worried about it at first, he makes sure youre getting enough rest

if you fall asleep while cuddling he'll hold you close and make sure youre able to rest comfortably

if he feels peaceful enough he might fall asleep with you

okay im gonna be honest i forgot what his personality is like so i had to go through his wiki for this-

so yamabuki isnt the most observant person nor does he care about his surroundings very much so he doesnt notice you falling asleep immediately

but after a few times of it happening he'll take notice and pay closer attention

if you fall asleep around him he'll take pictures of you sleeping (with permission ofc) and tease you with them later

another character who thinks you falling asleep everywhere is cute

he likes taking pictures of things that interest him and you interest him a lot :)

he may seem like the bad boy type who doesnt care about anything

which is partly true

he just has different ways of showing it

and hes very open with his affection too

but for you its worth it

Hi! I know it's pretty late to be asking this but I got a random blurb idea at three in the morning so I thought I'd send it in before I forgot it. It's for season one, episode 5/6.

After Steve finds Jonathan and Nancy in her bed and tells bug she deserves better he drives off with Tommy and Carol. Basically his POV that whole car ride. He's grieving, in disbelief and heartbreak. He's angry and sad, not only for himself but for bug. Tommy and Carol are only riling him up at this point. Remember how Tommy or Carol said something like " wow Steve you're right she really is pathetic to still stay with him" maybe we see the convo where that came from. I feel like he was excited to be around who he thought were Nancy's friends outside of barb, and it all came crashing down.

Again this is really random and super late but I was just thinking about season one Steve and this scenario popped into my head. For being such a little shit Steve really is handsome.

"did henderson really defend that creep?" carol practically throws herself over the drivers seat in disbelief of what steve has just said.

"she did." steve tightens his hands around the steering wheel. his mind is reeling. hes hurt, hes so fucking hurt, and hes angry. for you, for what nancy has done to him, for what jonathan has done to you. for years youve been his little pet, always doting on the boy, and he still has the fucking nerve to hurt you like this. "shes pathetic."

the words burn steves tongue. he regrets them immediately.

tommy snorts. "i mean, yeah. shes hot, but at least have some self respect, ya know?"

the boys words only cause steve to tighten his grip on the steering wheel harder. youre not pathetic; youre selfless. youre so fucking selfless and always see the good in people. it infuriates steve. youre everything and more, and hes seen people abuse this rare kindness for years. make fun of you for it, mock you as if the kindness you bring isnt a breath of fresh air for everyone.

he hears a yelp next to him and steve knows that carol has slapped tommy for calling another girl hot in front of her.

"i just dont get it," steve sighs out. theres so much he wants to ask, to say and plead and demand. he cant get the betrayal in your eyes out of his head. youd looked devasted when hed told you what he saw at nancys. how jonathan had been wrapped around her.

and yet even as the hurt crossed upon your face, you still managed to swallow down the hurt and see the good in people.

in the people who didnt fucking deserve it.

"fuck if i know, man." tommy rubs at his arm and glares at carol.

she simply rolls her eyes at him and goes back to picking at her nails. "why do we assume she even knows how to do anything other than put on that angelic act bullshit?"

"what, like she doesnt know how to be mean?" tommy asks, furrowing his brows.

steve stares straight ahead. "all shes ever been is kind."

"exactly," carol throws herself against the drivers seat again. "whos to say its real? not some creepy act? better yet: how do we know shes not, like, fucked up in the head?"

youre not. steve has seen your intelligence. youre the top of your class and hes had to shamefully ask you for help with english homework.

tommy frowns again. "wait, i thought she was smart."

"god, youre dumb." carol shakes her head. "what i mean is, what if she physically incapable of being mean. like, some chemical imbalance in her brain."

"could explain her freakish devotion to byers." tommy says.

steves grip tightens once more hearing the boys name. jonathan byers. resident creep who somehow has captured the heart of hawkins sweetheart. the same boy who has now cheated on her with steves girlfriend.

he will never understand this.

nancy has hurt him, shes abandoned him like everyone else has, and he knows that somehow its his fault.

but you? you dont deserve any of this.

what carol has said makes sense. maybe you really dont know how to be mean. if youre physically incapable of it, then steve decides that he has to do something about it.

if you need to be mean, then he'll be mean for you.

babel, and why i love it (SPOILERS!!!!)

ok im terribly late to reading it, for its not sold in many places where i live, so i found the pdf luckily.

babel is a book about colonialism and racism and oppression, it is about revolution and battling your inner conscience (in my opinion at least, i'll elaborate later). it tells the story of robin swift coming to the prestigious royal institute of translation or better known as babel, where during his yrs there he discovers that the glamourous oxford university isnt such a righteous place. his loyalty is tested, blood is shed and tears fall which leads up to a revolution to stop an incoming war.

there are many reviews regarding how its racist to white ppl (which is astounding to even think about) and that its not accurate as women werent allowed to go to university in the 1830s but im not going to talk about that, that much. i wanted to speak on the actual translation/language aspect of it.

throughout the book, translation and language r some of the main themes (obviously) but the impact it has on the people, both in the book and irl is smth i havent seen anyone mention. language isnt just a form of communication but it is part of our culture, it is part of our identity, and during colonial times many languages suffered, they were being erased as they were "barbaric" or "strange" they were banned and anyone who spoke them was punished like in victoires chapter. robin, ramy and victoire all can barely speak their native languages, robin has almost fogotten cantonese, ramy has very basic knowledge of bengali and victoire is never given a chance or is permitted to speak in haitian creole. they lost one of the main things that connects them to their motherland, they only have their appearance left. they will never be able to talk to their ppl properly.

victoire was frustrated that haitian creole isnt recognised as a proper language like how in their exams, her match-pair wouldnt be counted properly as haitian creole wouldnt be used much hence its "useless" in the eyes of prof. leblanc. she was beaten when she would speak haitian croele in her house in france. when she first came to babel she was correcting herself from "kreyol" to "haitian creole" and was unsure if she could even study it.

robin realised that prof.lovell actually knew more than him about his own language, his mother tongue. he could barely stand being back in canton and he felt isolated in a way as everything changed and was new and so was the language even though he was born hearing and speaking it.

not much is talked about this with ramy except that he barely knows bengali, even though hes fluent in english, latin, greek, arabic, persian and urdu. he knows 6 languages and in his chapter he is sed to "absorb languages like a sponge" and that he recited poems or writing in other languages he didnt know perfectly, even down to tone, only after having it read to him once but he barely knows his mother tongue.

this relates to modern times as many languages of previously colonised countries rely on english words like in india u will barely hear the word pathshala, instead u will hear school. in mauritian creole when people speak they will slip in english words, like "netwai whiteboard la" which means clean the whiteboard.

we dont know our language fully because of the erasure of them.

theres also 1st gen immigrant children where their mother tongue is smth they barely hear or they forgot after a while, they feel so incredibly disconnected once they realise. this is how robin is and this is how i am too, i was born in europe, then at 7 i moved to england and now im somewhere entirely different, i dont remember my mother tongue, i dont dream in it. which ultimately makes u lose ur voice in a metaphorical way.

u cant speak because u dont know how.

another important thing is the purposeful mistranslations and burning of books, thats not fully discussed in the book although it would have been a nice touch. colonisers purposefully mistranslated things to control the masses because when they burnt our books, they burnt our language, knowledge and people. and the exploitation of our languages like the statue at univ of william jones sitting at desk and 3 hindu sages on the floor infront of him exists, and how missionaries were taught our languages to help in conversion.

now onto the 1830s inaccuracies and racism:

its the fucking 1830s do u think white ppl were nice to poc at this time, like slavery just ended in the eyes of the law for britain but still continued in other places like america. reverse racism doesnt exist, white ppl can be prejudiced against but u lot r not oppressed and never will be, u lot wont be killed for being white, so stop crying. and about the women wouldnt be at university in the 1830s thing its fiction, r.f. kuang took some liberties.

and that is all i have to say, dont start an argument, anyways babel is great, go read it!!

Lil rant

Why do so many people make suns issues seem like nothing? I see much people constantly saying: "sun just has [insert issues]". No. Sun has alot more than that. His life was made a living hell because of who? Moon. Sun had to see the murders, clean them up, feel pain with every moons move when he took control, fight for control and god knows what more. That has been going on for what? More than 9-10 years (Sun confirmed from a year long episode that hes tehnically 9 years old). Don't get me wrong, moon has trauma from it too, having to deal with a killcode, being trapped in the mindscape without his body ect. Though, people are still dismissing suns trauma from this. Sun was TERRIFIED. He kept begging moon, but it didn't help. Some people think that its alright because sun still had confidence and was happy after they seperated and that ISNT correct. This piece of trauma gave sun a big affect on him. Such as being afraid of the dark. It may not seem too bad, but just imagine what was going on in suns mind when it was dark. It doesn't matter how much of a "stupid" fear is that, it still has a reasoning on why its there. After seperation, he also got abused by moon. Moon would always threaten him when sun made a joke. Especially with the whacking stick. The whacking stick was seen as a joke and it wasnt serious in many eyes, though just imagine being in suns shoes. You're making jokes like siblings do and oh! Guess what. You get threatened and hit for it. See what im trying to say here? Moon also used to put sun down alot. That may be normal in a sibling relationship, I have to admit that. Yet, sun eventually started believing those words because of others who would do the same. And when moon was doing the same, sun started believing in that. Sun probably also started being convinced by it since everytime he tried to help, he couldnt. This obviously led to this sort of mindstate. Whenever sun was talking about his issues,moon would ignore them and replace it with his own (Episode example:sun and moon BREAK UP in VRCHAT or whatever the name was). Sun always had to take care of moon and moons issues too. sun felt like he was useless so what other better was to cope than to help others so you feel useful. This is extremely unhealthy. Sun forgot to help himself. Plus, people always push suns feelings to the side. For an example, monty said that sun would get over it and that it was just a phase. Moon was too scared to go talk to sun! And guess what. Sun went out to kill eclipse! He also gaslighted and manipulated sun into doing what HE wants. For an example, you know when sun was in that one state of mind when he went to kill eclipse? Instead of trying to help sun with feelings and stuff, HE LOCKED SUN INTO A BUNKER WHERE THE ARGURMENT HAPPEND, and put a magic box giving sun barely room to stand. Because he wanted sun to be like hes "supposed to be", the voice of reason. See whats wrong with this? He also would pressure sun into telling him things sun didn't wanna talk about. Example, july 16th. In the argurment, he started pressuring sun into telling him what happend until sun actually did. Another example, when sun killed bloodmoon, he also started pressuring sun into telling him what actually happend, though, sun didn't do so that time. This aint a way to deal with thse kind of situations. If someone doesn't wanna talk about something, we shouldn't force them. Yet people are still so confused on why sun doesn't open up! I wonder why! Do we need a damn detective for that. I see people saying that its because earth and moon are basically strangers, althought it really isnt. Sunny thinks everything is his fault. He thinks eclipse existing is his fault, even if sun wasnt the one who put a goddamn left behind code. Its moons fault. Sure, he didnt know that would happen, even so what did he think was going to happen. "Omg it'll be such a good idea if I put a left behind code that i dont even know what it is!!" Like please. Who knows what that leech- I MEAN. Eclipse said to him.

JJBA PART 5, VENTO AUREO IS THE UNDERBAKED MESS I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT FIXING...PART 1

imagine you are celebrating your big promotion at the pigeon crushing factory (in this world you make a living crushing pigeons into a cube, this isnt important) and decide to treat yourself to a delicious hibachi feast at the local grill. as you sit down, your chef introduces himself to you; to your surprise, the chef is reknown mangaka hirohiko araki!

"wow, amazing!" you think to yourself, "i can't wait to see what delicious treats he has waiting for me, especially after that scrumptious part 4 i had last time". araki smiles knowingly, seeing the recognition of his talent in the gleam of your wide eyes. with a dramatic flourish, begins his work. a wild and frenzied solo performance begins. ingredients are chopped and flung with dazzling accuracy, speed, and showmanship until you are presented with the fruits of his labor: a new dish, just for you.

there's one problem. he forgot to turn on the grill. or maybe he never meant to. his confidence leaves you unsure of what to do when he starts flinging raw onions into your mouth and encouraging you to chew. like the tragic chef from the clickhole video, he has served you a plate of raw chicken and vegetables and is now looking at you with his arms crossed over his chest waiting for you to dig in.

its not all bad. you can eat some of the veggies as long as they don't touch the chicken, but the majority of it is inedible. you didnt even get to see him do the cool onion thing. you push the plate back unfinished and hoping for an explanation for what the fuck just happened but when you look up, you realize araki has already left. his big chef hat and coat are lying on the floor where he shed them on his new journey to start a raw foods store having discovered his passion for organic veggies. next time you crush so many pigeons you get another promotion, you try the new store and its delicious. can't fault him, i guess!

this is the experience of watching jojo part 5.

and LOOK. i'm not lacking in perspective here. its presumptuous to say "i can do better" or "i could fix this" when it comes to anyone's work, let alone the work of someone singular like hirohiko araki. no one's brain operates the way his does, as evidenced by the paltry and weak attempts by the spin-off artists who struggle to recapture that same magic; they all lack whatever je ne se quoi araki has tapped into that's off limits to every other human on planet earth.

straight up, my approach to storytelling is too conventional to be a good replacement for araki's (who seems to be just completely unhinged both on and off the page) so my suggestions to "fix" part 5 are going to be broad strokes and not finely tuned fanfictions. there are just...things i would have like to see happen. and the list is long enough that i think it necessitates that this essay be done in parts. but everything you need to fix it is right there within the existing text. much like the bad meal, the manga (presumably, i only watched the anime. no! stop booing me!) has all the ingredients, the passion, and the skills to create a satisfying end result, its genuinely just missing the ability to bring it all together in a satisfying way. and it is so, so frustrating to watch unfold from the comfort of your couch.

however, for people not in the jojo know-know (who are just reading this bc it started with a pigeon crushing metaphor and you wanted to see where it was going), i do have to explain the historical lens we have to consider with part 5: it wound up being the first evolutionary step of araki's change in art style and story-telling conventions. the fashion aesthetics are wilder, the stakes are bigger, and the stands (WAY) more esoteric. with hindsight, we can look back and understand that it turned out to be weird because he was experimenting in real time (as artists who work serially have to due to the nature of the job) with what he was interested in and what he wanted to explore. so there's nothing WRONG with part 5 in the cosmic sense. and it wasn't without entertainment. and most of the characters were great!

it just that this whole thing causes me enough mental anguish to think about day in and day out to the point of writing what will turn out to be an embarrassing amount of words about my objectively least favorite part of a body of work i've come to adore. its fine. whatever.

come with me...join me whether you know jojo or not, as i try to stay sane tonight and many other nights. watch with concern and glee i rant incoherently about things that will make me seem like an absolute raving lunatic to anyone who is only barely familiar with the franchise and loosely understands it, as i only did, as a series about people who do pokemon but with ghosts who punch people.

Im looking for this one fic i stumbled upon on tumblr but like it was a link to AO3. PLS NOTE I DONT SHIP GOJO X YUJI BUT IF U ATTACK ME FOR THIS POST YOU WILL BE BLOCKED. NO HATE WILL BE TOLERATED. If u dont ship them but hate on ppl who do , take yourself on a walk cos no one cares. These are fictional characters that we watch for entertainment theres no need to be sensitive.

Anyway it WAS a gojo x yuji fic but i didnt know at the time that it was AND IT WAS THE BEST PIECE OF LITERATURE I'VE EVER LAID MY EYES ON.

I will think abt this fic till the day i die , it has taken a piece of my soul and will forever have it.

It started off with Gojo being unsealed and like before he was sealed him and Yuji was in a secret relationship but when Gojo was unsealed he lost his memories about everything that happened like 2 years prior or like from the time he met Yuji Anyway Yuji runs up to him and hugs him and Gojo like freezes and is like "are you one of my students??" , and Yuji is like absolutely devastated.

Then Yuji spends like the rest of the fic like doing all the things that he used to do for Gojo.

Apparently before he was sealed and when they were together Yuji used to bake his favorite flavored peach cake ( i think ) and now in the present Gojo is like "How did you know???".

But then Gojo decided to be an asshole and kiss Utahime for a reason that i forgot and yuji sees that cos for some reason Gojo called him and told him to meet him at the bridge where he kissed her .

Then like Gojo spends most of his time sleeping and at the end of the fic it was revealed that he slept so much because he used to "dream" abt Yuji but in reality it was just him getting flashbacks frm before he was sealed and their relationship.

He was like "sleep is the only way i got to experience having you" or smth like that. And at the end he got his memories back and all that uk the usual.

But god the way it was written i know for a fact god spent extra time on the author cos theres no damn way.

The fic itself thou was really long and took me like an hour to read through my tears.

Anyway PLEASE HELP ME FIND IT IVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT IT FOR AGES

Oh by the way in this fic i think Gojo was like 2 years older then Yuji so it isnt like a weird age gap type shit.

revenant gun by yoon ha lee: the last book in the hexarchate series, starting with ninefox gambit. (slightly edited from my discord review, SPOILERS INCOMING). in machineries of empire, there a disconnect between what the audience craves and what the book is willing to give them-- for example, things like Whats up with the calendar + the hexarchate, why did jedao do all that, etc. this works in the books favor (imo) by increasing tension, creating a sense of discovery, and avoiding clunky exposition.

however in the two sequels it expands not just to what the audience wants but also what they like. care about? some big examples are the weight of the remembrances* and less cheris, but also stuff like jedaos focus. which isnt bad like i like jedao. but like, if you Dont you sure do get a lot of him. also did anyone actually like brezan sorry. hes fine like for example with the end of a memory called empire, when the protag (forgot her name sorry) loses her brain buddy, it feels like a second coming of age almost--her brain buddys been a crutch but now she gets to stand on her own (albeit as a changed person, with brain buddys influence). vs cheris who kinda starts to feel like a cameo character who literally fucks off for nine years??? there is also a sort of ongoing sense of "these sacrifices for the greater good are ok (if sad) and these are not" whihc ngl sometimes feels pretty arbitrary to me. and given that machineries of empire focuses on like the Littlest most downtrodden people it really is wild yhat we dont see a lot of civilian life? anyways i enjoyed it and i think its worth finishing out the trilogy but it wasnt as satisfying as i could have hoped (ALSO NINEFOX GAMBIT IS A REALLY FUN SOLID READ. I LIKED IT A LOT)

*the rememberances are a set of ritualized tortures that create a power structure that literally powers a lot of the empire's technology. this is a very cool concept! a big part of jedao and cheris' rebellion is about making a place that Doesnt have to run on torture. except that like, besides the intellectual knowledge that Torture Is Bad as a reader i didnt really feel that invested in this? like we only get to See a remembrance happening midway thru book 3. im not like advocating for torture porn or anything but it seems weird to have that be the focal thing when neither cheris nor jedao had any scenes where they were affected by it (and so the audience didnt have anything like that either). idk it kinda just stood out to me. like yes i care about these characters but why should i care about This specifically

hexarchate stories by yoon ha lee: an anthology set in the world of machineries of empire, expanding the world and fleshing out some stories. this was pretty solid! theres a wide range of stories and lengths, and i liked the variety :3 its like a little charcuterie board. (yoon ha lee's bias for shuos jedao really stands out here though..) its kinda essential reading to me imo though bc otherwise the ending of revenant gun isnt that satisfying :| lol anyways once again if youve read ninefox gambit check it out! spoilers for the whole series tho

exordia by seth dickinson: hard scifi about agency, impossible choices, and how they shape you. also, international geopolitics! like ninefox gambit, exordia demands your attention and concentration. you kinda have to read it at a time when you have brainpower to spare. however, exordia rewards everything that you put into it :3 i ended up learning so many random facts during this book… like AGL meaning above ground level. i feel like i need to read a book about democratic confederalism now also. a couple of my other friends read this book and got lost in the large cast and intricate web of events--i didnt have as much of an issue but u might need a piece of paper or sth. exordia is a book that's dense enough to feel like three books, and that can be good or bad. seth dickinson has this really spare, concise prose that leaves a lot to your imagination but also like. can sum up a person or situation in just a couple sentences? and that leaves a lot of room for the reader to investigate which i like :3 hm what else to say…. i really liked clayton (clayton!!!!) but i found erik super annoying ymmv. the ending kinda leaves you at a loss which i honestly kinda like? like yeah obv a sequel would be nice but i like it the way it is. anyways not for the faint of heart but id still recommend<3

accidentally engaged by farah heron: f/m romance aww so cute <3 really nice contemporary romance which tosses together a bunch of tropes--arranged romance, fake dating, baking together--into something that actually works really well! the two leads were very charming and i liked reading about the good food. i liked the way the protagonist's almost-stereotypical portrait of a loving but strict south asian family (am i allowed to say this) gets fleshed into a group of honestly kinda bizarre people that love her and that reena can genuinely connect with. yay family! overall, not especially memorable to me personally but still enjoyable. rec if youre into contemporary romance

last breath: the limits of adventure: realistic fiction (?) about what it feels like to drown, die of dehydration, fall from a cliff, etc. lots of research, very thorough! (well sometimes they live and sometimes they dont). an expansion of this absolutely fantastic article about hypothermia. honestly none of the stories quite live up to this one imo but this is still a really solid and exciting read! i couldnt put it down! although it does have a touch of the orientalism that you get from like, a lot of extreme sports circles lol. i would definitely recommend reading the article, and maybe read the book if it especially interests you.

video games:

pokemon legends of arceus: a pokemon game set in the past that breaks the mold by letting you dodge roll. my opinions here coincide pretty closely with the dunkey video, which is that this is a really fun game that is also literally half finished. controls are clunky, story is paper thin, graphics are fucked, overworld is extremely empty but its also just very fun?? it took over my life for like two weeks and i missed class???? anyways i would not get this at full price but if you can borrow it from a friend its super interesting to experience. im looking forward to the kalos one :3

slay the princess: a horror? romance? visual novel about saving the princess, slaying tbe princess, and everything in between featuring the vocal chops of that one magnus archives guy. dudeee this is so fun! i think its very kind to the guy inside of me who is Embarrassingly Anxious about any and all video game choices that can like, affect the narrative. lmfao its fun to fit in a couple runs or two between other things, but i did start losing track of what previous paths id taken after a bit of a gap. however!!! i would definitely think about playing this game if you like visual novels or Narrative or Loops! or girls who kill lol theres a free demo if you want to try it out

movies:

velocipastor: action movie about a priest who turns into a velociraptor to punish the wicked!!!! so fucking cool a lot of love put into this (low budget) movie made me so sad i dont speak cantonese (? at least i think thats what it was) watch this with friends

music:

Gato by nobonoko: really fun 80s synth jazz? album written by two fictional gay furries. no wait come back ok this is one of those things i got recommended by youtube and then actually listened to it a bunch of times its just very soothing and nice :3 ive been listening to jazz pretty much my whole life so i have a huge bias. also im a sucker for fictional bands eg splatoon… also the art is so cute?? those two guys?? its hard to pick a favorite song but i think i like the titular gato! also theres a bunch of other stuff made by the same two artists

option by Crosses: i totally forgot what the genre for this is but its like when metal guys are like i need to have a song for my metal wedding. song recommended by neil -_- anyways very sappy im fond of it nonetheless. i definitely did think it said "can you promise me to the grave"

Roy by Idles: from british rock band idles new album tangk! im going to be honest i did not like this album as much as some of the other ones by idles, but thats ok! hmm when i play this song out loud during crew shifts i feel embarrassed. but i really like seeing how idles' vocalist's voice has evolved over time! the way hes branched out into more melodic and belty stuff over time is very fun. the prechorus + chorus are very fun to sing along to as well :3 its just a fun song

From the moment you walked out of Aaron’s office, wiping your eyes and straightening your suit jacket, Spencer knew. He had thought that, maybe, the argument you’d had the night before where you’d ended things, you’d just been being dramatic. You didnt mean it, he was sure. But he knows you, and the way you walked out of Aaron’s office, coupled with the concerned frown Aaron had as he watched you walk to Penelope’s office, told him everything. You had just informed Aaron that yours and Spencer’s relationship had ended. Though he had spent the previous night worrying rather than sleeping, he protected himself with the thought that the next day you would take him back, but it was over.

Initially, Spencer was worried that you were going to quit, or ask to be moved to another department away from the team just to escape him. But what you did was almost worse. You continued to work on the team as professionally as you always had, but with one fatal difference: you forced yourself to ignore Spencer’s very existence. He treasured every time he made a point while on a case, because that was the only time you would ever pay him attention. And oh, how he craved that. He was constantly coming up with ideas on how he could catch your attention, and he wondered how you felt knowing you constantly held his.

To everyone else on the team, the rift between you and Spencer was obvious, but not awkward. It was almost like the relationship had never happened, like the two of you existed in parallel universes that the rest of the team were stuck between. In your meeting with Hotch the morning after the breakup, you explained that you loved the team too much to leave them over something like that, and you asked him if he would mind making the conscious effort to never pair you up with Spencer on a case again. That was your only request in order to maintain professionalism, and naturally Hotch accepted it, with the further plea of coming to him if you needed any help with anything else.

Spencer retained a professional state too, but unlike you, it was obvious to the rest of the team that he was completely broken. He never fell out of love with you, he couldnt, while you just forgot he ever existed. He didnt know how you managed it.

And the truth is, you didnt. At work, you could force yourself to ignore him. You had to, because if you looked at him...you dont even want to think about what might happen. It’s at home that you feel it all. Isnt it strange that the lack of his presence causes you utter agony, but when you are in his presence you cant even bring yourself to look at him? You are quietly, privately devastated. When you arrive to a silent house, colourless rooms that no longer felt like home, that’s when your heart starts to break over and over again. When you’re cooking and your mind wanders to the memory of Spencer coming up behind you and wrapping his arms around your waist, when you’re trying to fall asleep in bed and you feel the gaping wound of his absence, those are the moments that reduce you to a being made of only heavy sobs. But Spencer doesnt know that.

One person that does is your best friend Penelope, who you have cried to countless times since the relationship ended a month ago. She does her best to gently encourage you to talk to him, but you are so stubborn. She’s always telling you how Spencer came to her office that day to ask how you’re doing, because you rush out of the building faster than anyone else to prevent him from having the opportunity to talk to you. He cares so much, still.

As you walk into the building, you return to your newfound routine of keeping your head down as you walk in order to avoid potential eye contact with a certain someone. You feel as though you have to go these extreme lengths to protect him, and yourself. Once you reach your desk, you find a hot mug of coffee waiting for you. With a confused frown on your face, you lift the cup to your lips and the scent hits your nose. Whoever made this knows your exact coffee order, right down to the tiny details. You look around the room, gaining the attention of Emily.

“Everything alright?” She asks you.

You look back down at the coffee in your hands. “Who left this here?”

Emily shrugs. “I got here just before you and that was already there.”

Your frown intensifies, but your eyes light up when you see Penelope shuffling from the entrance.

“PEN-“ You call, but she holds her hands up to stop you and continues to shuffle past you, to her office.

“I KNOW NOTHING DONT LOOK AT ME!” She shouts, gaining everyone’s attention and causing them all to turn to you.

It must have been Spencer, your self destructive mind concludes, and much to your dismay, your eyes start searching the room for him. But he isnt there.

Hotch calls everyone to a meeting and you take your coffee with you, deciding not to waste it regardless of what the intentions of it could be.

Exactly five minutes into discussing the latest case, Spencer runs into the room, panting. You know it’s exactly five minutes because you were staring at the clock waiting for him to arrive.

“Sorry Im late, got caught in traffic.”

His explanation causes you to frown again. Spencer is rarely late, and never for something like traffic. He always makes sure to plan ahead and leave for work with enough time to make it even if traffic does slow his journey. On top of that, everything about him tells you he’s lying. Not only are you a profiler, but you were in a relationship with him for 8 months, you know when he’s lying. He knows you know when he’s lying, and it’s almost like he’s exaggerated his fidgety tendencies and lack of persuasive tone to make sure you know he’s lying. But why?

Blinking rapidly, you bring yourself back to the round table.

“They need us at the station as soon as possible, wheels up in 30.”

With Aaron’s usual cue, you and the rest of your team stand to your feet and file out of the room. In your peripheral vision, you see him, and you can feel his eyes on you, but you keep your gaze fixed on what’s directly in front of you. Unfortunately, as you rose from the table you noticed a small smile playing on his face as he looked at you. Even though you dont know what made him smile, you begin to worry.

Due to how long your last case ran for, every member of the team falls asleep on the plane as soon as the case discussion is over. The plane is going to land within the next hour, and the only ones awake are you and Spencer. You are sitting at polar opposite seats on the jet, that are ironically opposite enough to each other for you to be in each other’s direct eye line. You’re pretending to be reading over the case file for the sixth time, your eyes glancing up over the top of the folder to keep an eye on Spencer, who’s reading a book at his usual ridiculous speed. All of a sudden, he stands up from his seat. You flush a violent shade of pink and slide down in your seat to completely hide your face behind the folder. Spencer walks past you and nonchalantly drops a tiny piece of folded paper in your lap. You use one hand to open it behind the folder, just in case any of the team are pretending to sleep and might notice.

Come and see me.

You are beyond confused, but something inside you is so compelled. The coffee had to be from him, and now a note with a strange choice of words considering the two of you are within a few feet of each other. Although it has been a month since the two of you broke up and Spencer has spent the majority of that time coming up with ideas on how to get your attention, he’s never actually tried. He’s been too respectful, giving you the space he assumed you needed; he didnt want to overwhelm you or force something you didnt want, even if that was something as simple as a conversation. Now, out of nowhere, he’s decided to start testing the water?

As if acting on autopilot, you find yourself standing up and following him to the jet kitchen. Spencer is leaning against a counter, his hands holding it from behind him as he stares at the wall opposite him. When he hears you approaching, he immediately turns to face you. Rather than looking at him, you pretend to start looking through the cupboards for snacks.

“You came.” Spencer breathes, his entire being stunned in disbelief.

“To see you, yeah, not sure why you phrased it like that.” You reply, trying your best to withhold as much emotion as humanly possible.

“I meant it literally.” He says, and that shatters your defences. Or rather, it peaks your curiosity to the extent where you shatter your own defences. You turn and face him.

“What do you mean?” You question.

As soon as you meet his gaze, you notice tears filling his eyes. “This is the first time you have looked at me in a month. I wanted you to come and see me, literally.”

Every ounce of your existence aches to reach out and take his hand, to hold him and stop his tears before the first one falls, but you resist.

“Why?”

Spencer blinks the tears back, trying to act far stronger than he feels. “Because maybe it’ll make you realise why you act like Im invisible.”

You feel your chest tighten. “What makes you think I dont already know?”

Spencer’s eyes fill with worry and concern for you. Always for you, never for himself. “Doesnt that hurt?”

As if on cue, you feel a stabbing pain in your chest, reminding you of the pain you regularly feel whenever you miss him. Even when he’s right in front of you, you miss him.

“Of course, but it’s for the best.”

Spencer frowns. “In what way?”

You cant answer, and your eyes avoid him again.

He desperately tries to pull your attention back. “Listen, (Y/N), I can do better...I’ve been thinking of hundreds of things I could have done to be a better boyfriend to you, and I-“

You dont let Spencer finish, you take the few steps necessary to reach him, and you kiss him. Without thinking, without planning, without considering what it will change. When you heard his voice shaking and you knew he was crying without even having to look at him, there was no alternative for you. There is no way you will continue to let him blame himself.

Spencer’s shaking hands go to your waist, and as soon as his hands are on you, his entire body relaxes as though your affection invited him to a state of euphoria. And it did.

Breaking both of your hearts again, you pull away from him. “I will never, ever be good enough for you, Spencer. So please, spare my heart the pain of continuing to love someone that shouldnt even know I exist.”

With that, your hands fall from his face, his leave your waist, and you return to your seat, filling your blurry vision with the case folder. You hear him return to his seat, his steps are slow, in shock after what just happened and confused by what you had just told him. He sits and watches you clutch either side of the folder with your shaking hands, knowing that behind it, tears roll freely down your cheeks.

For the rest of the day, you and Spencer cast glances at each other every time you’re in the same room. The rest of the team notice, but none of them address it; they’re all scared to intervene in case it ruins whatever has happened to progress the two of you returning to normality. The eye contact is hesitant and slow, with one of you nervously looking over to the other, the other somehow sensing it and meeting their gaze, then both looking away quickly. Neither of you know where you stand now, it’s all up in the air, because now Spencer realises he doesnt actually know why you two broke up, and what you revealed has told him that it’s something he can potentially resolve.

That night, you’re tossing and turning in your hotel room bed, unable to sleep. He’s only down the hall, and that reality is enough to keep you awake for an eternity. It’s 3am, there’s a chance he’ll still be awake, and who makes a rational decision at this ungodly hour? Once you come to that conclusion, you fuck over all of your defences and avoidances, and allow the magnetic connection to him to pull you to your hotel room door. You reach for the door handle, knowing you didnt lock it because you hoped he would spontaneously show up. When you pull it open, you’re stunned into silence.

Because there Spencer stands, his hand raised ready to knock on your door, both of you staring at each other with wide eyes. That does it. You grab his pyjama shirt collar and pull him into a kiss.

Stumbling back into your room, he kicks the door shut behind him and the two of you fall onto your bed. The makeout continues for a few seconds before Spencer pulls away.

“Wait, why wasnt your room locked?” He asks you, his brow furrowed with concern over your safety.

You grin up at him with flushed cheeks. “I was waiting for you to show up.”

You watch Spencer’s heart melt before your very eyes as he leans down to kiss you again. “Can I lock it now?”

Chuckling, you nod at him. Ever the worrier, the sensible influence. During the time it takes him to walk to the door, you realise that he just made his first move. He didnt confront you with that coffee, he didnt force you to take it, he even avoided being there just to give you the space to think about it yourself. Although he requested you come and see him, he let you decide whether you wanted to. At the end of that conversation, it was you who kissed him. And every kiss since then, you have initiated. He’s left it all up to you. Spencer stands up and locks your door, then crawls back on top of you to kiss you again. His lips leave yours, but they create a trail down your neck, lingering there, freeing the previously caged butterflies in your stomach and igniting your skin with goosebumps rising up on your arms.

“I think I understand now.” Spencer says, mostly into the skin of your neck.

“Understand what?” You ask breathlessly.

“We had one fight, and that drove you to the conclusion that you werent good enough for me. You’ve told me that that’s something you’ve worried about since the start, and despite my reassurance, something that was reassuring you a lot was the fact we’d never fought, so when we did, that was it for you.” At this point, Spencer pulls away from your neck to read your face as he talks. “But (Y/N), as much as you think I deserve a perfect relationship, every relationship has arguments, they arent easy all the time. They require work, effort, and the determination to not give up at the first obstacle. You are perfect to me, perfect for me, and I promise to show you that for the rest of forever, if you’ll let me.”

Tears cascade down your face and onto the bedsheets. Your insecurities got the better of you and you almost lost the love of your life. But now you both know where you stand, and you’re damn sure you wont let this happen again.

“I love you.”

Spencer hasnt heard those words in a month, to say they affected him would be the understatement of the century. He starts blinking rapidly and you know he’s trying not to cry; this time you dont have to resist, you reach up and caress the side of his face with your fingertips. The tears start falling and he chuckles, holding your hand to his face.

“I love you too, so much.”

Spencer kisses you, and you feel every splinter in your heart heal.

The two of you roll over, breaking the kiss so that you can straddle him and unbutton your pyjama shirt, before assisting Spencer in doing the same. Upon seeing you half naked, Spencer’s pupils dilate, holding his bottom lip between his teeth as his eyes travel up from your waist, to your chest, your neck, your lips, back to your eyes.

“Did you enjoy the coffee this morning, by the way?” He asks, randomly.

You smile. “Yes, I did, thank you.”

Spencer grins back at you. “Im not sure if you know this, but coffee is an aphrodisiac, so it’s very possible that you-“

You shut him up by kissing him briefly, before you pull away, pushing him back down to lie beneath you as you straddle him, a cheeky grin plastered on your face.

“I can say with complete confidence that Im horny on love, not coffee, but thanks for the fact Spence.”

Alright because I'm curious: What is wrong with Marina's quest to help sanitized octolings? Because as far as what little we knew about it it was blended up people, removed memories to make mem cakes, and then if you botch it, then you become part of them. It was both vague enough to get the general idea across and open enough for more information to be revealed.

So what didn't you like about the idea?

The problem was that in octo expansion, we were told that the sanitized octolings had no vital signs, and in typical splatoon lore fashion, we were told in a dev interview that sanitized octolings are formed out of sanitization ink. Its hard to take dev interview information seriously, but judging by the fact that they rarely ever put actual important worldbuilding details in the game we have to take what we can get. Basically meaning, none of the sanitized octolings are any one person in particular. They cant get their memories back because they arent any original person. Theyre basically walking frankensteins monster corpses with no purpose but to do whatever kamabo tells them to do. Letting the color chip memories "sort themselves out" inherently has way too many risks and issues. It straight up just would not work. Anyone can have any color chips in their pallet. And if any color chip is made of any mem cakes, all marina essentially did was destroy the memories and basically do exactly what kamabo co did. The only one it would probably work on is acht since they are visibly not fully sanitized and the devs, for some godforsaken reason, decided not to give acht any reasonable or sensible plot relevance at all regarding literally anything that was going on. This basically means either only some sanitized octolings are made from the ink while others are just regular octolings that got sanitized, or they just retconned that first fact. They also tried to say that agent 8 is sanitized when they are clearly obviously visibly not sanitized in any way, shape, or form, unless theyre only now trying to make sense of how sanitization works by making it a multi-stage process. This still makes acht a complete outlier in the sanitization process since they remember everything pre-kamabo (while conveniently acting like they didnt canonically willingly get sanitized in the first place), while eight remembers nothing. Either way, the character creation part of octo expansion doesnt line up with agent eights canon backstory. Thats a whole other thing though.

Another issue is fuzzified octolings. No mention of them or anything that happened in alterna. From what we can gather from alterna, there is no more octarian army or at least a huge chunk of them are gone frok their society because of alterna. And yet, this plot point isnt brought up ever again, even within alterna since they for some reason forgot octavio existed right after forcing him into the story. Also, they had a hint that dedf1sh got fuzzified too, with one alterna track being named #35 captured, yet here they are, perfectly fine and still sanitized. Also doesnt help that fuzzification is functionally the same as sanitization, it just happens on contact instead, but nothing about memories is focused on. Marina absolutely should have been aware that a huge chunk of octarian society went missing to the point where even octavio went to look for them, unless side order happens before alterna, in which case it still ends up making marinas efforts useless.

The problem too with what marina did is that they showed no proof of any of it actually working. Agent 8 was supposed to be the first one to test it out, meaning we never actually know if the color chip-mem cake thing actually works, nor will we know if it will ever work, because for some reason we still let smollusk take control over the order sector. Marina should not have to hack her own creation to make things work. And sure, they have this one-off line thats like "wow eight you got your memories back !!", but thats something that couldve been shown so that its actually impactful and so that eight has an actual motive in the story that isnt just Stand There And Do Things Because You Were Told To, as well as Stand There And Listen To These People Talk To Each Other simulator. They even had mentions of other octoling devs that helped her make the memverse and yet we dont get any focus on them either. Smollusk talks about them, yet somehow they arent made important to the plot. This also implies that octolings can just go back and forth freely between their society and the surface, unless these devs also happened to leave and just so happened to not be involved with the fuzzification issue. We also have the case of people supposedly being dragged into the memverse and they look spaced out in the real world, yet thats also not made into an actual plot point and instead just mentioned once and never focused on again. If they had just shown any actual impact to the characters or the real world at all, maybe it wouldve been more interesting. They really went with a tell-not-show route with side order and it sucked.

And, to add on, it wasnt only octolings that kamabo co did stuff to. Iso padre is the biggest example of that. He lost his memories too. Yet they decided to leave him out of the story when he arguably wouldve been more relevant to what was actually happening than acht was, but unfortunately they opted to focus more on adding a popular character to the story for the sake of adding new useless information about a character and nothing else. All they had to do was make acht actually involved with the actual plot and not just sit in the elevator doing literally nothing and adding literally nothing but dialogue for them and marina to act like they just saw each other last week.

THANK YOU for being able 2 put it into words on that post..... despite s2 having so much of my favorite characters (terry jr and scary) i just... have struggled so hard with caring since the seasons been in full swing and it feels like the world in s2 isnt taken as like... genuinely enough i guess? and season two is very funny and entertaining but thats... all it is. any emotional arcs feel quickly forgotten & almost not at all drawn out and it feels like a mess with how often characters are just straight up forgotten,,, i love dndads and there was such a great setup for season two that i think just. fell flat in execution. even when nicky came back anthony admitted he called him nick Foster because he wasnt thinking at all about it and didnt care, and like. at a certain point even in a d&d setting you have to care about the characters youre making plot relevant at least a little bit, and suddenly the close family arc had nothing to do with season 1 and instead everything to do with stuff that happened completely offscreen (and again, once the dads were charting around with their kids they were often forgotten & added little to any scenes) just. it all got a little careless.

and im not caught up but ive heard about so much junk that happens in the... less than 10 episodes im behind on?? like i JUST got to the titanic part and it ends, what, 9 episodes later ??? i just wish it was more organized and theyd allowed themselves to like. take their time with things. i know the 20 or whatever episodes of glenns arc in s1 is known as 'too long' or super hard to get through but thats also how it made such an impact!! there was ALOT to get through and a lot happened to the close family. yet when alot happens in s2 its like, well that happened, and in an episode and a half it will never be mentioned again . even supporting npcs especially with a lot of potential dont stick around unlike characters like paeden or walter or even erin who got her own wrap up like. i dont remember the last time anyone even mentioned mae hails. yeah theres a degree that its messy and unorganized because thats how teenagers are but theres only so far that goes. and im pretty forgiving in d&d settings because 90% of what actually happens is up to random chance but theres a difference between 'this isnt good because im not actually writing it, and i dont have total control over this story' versus 'this isnt that good because we're not playing it that good'.

these kids really never had any time to rest, and it's actively hurting the narrative tension to the point that i just want them to be left alone </3

i can't fucking believe that they didn't care enough about nicky's whole deal to not even think about the implications of everything that happened to him. that felt like it should've been a core aspect of his character! and they just didn't care!! about that aspect of his family dynamic!!

i think that, at the end of season 1, the close family and the oak family had dynamics where it was understandable for issues to pop up offscreen. and i do think the underlying threads made sense to a degree! but it was so thoroughly unexplored in both families that it just made even more of a mess and all the characters involved suffered for it.

and i'm gonna be honest. i completely forgot about mae hails. man. man.

they all deserved so much better.

Willow hesitated for a moment as she watched Joanna take off her coat, a blush starting to cross her lips as she poured another glass of wine for the two of them. Her eyes kept glancing at the muscles the huntress had, enjoying the company much more than she did Jacques. “You’re sure you’re okay with this? I cant exactly pay you without my husband questioning where the money is going, but I can make sure a hefty donation is sent to you and your huntress group-”

“That wont be necessary, Mrs. Schnee,” Joanna said as she sat down next to Willow. “This is still a mission that I accepted, even if it is a bit… unorthodox. Though, Robyn did suggest we branch out with what we do.”

“Still, I’m glad you accepted. Seems to be the only way I can help Mantle anymore.”

“Why do you care so much about Mantle? Dont you Atleaseans hate us?”

Willow paused for a moment at the accusation, slowly picking up the wine glass and swirling the wine around. She had always cared about Mantle, its where her family was from, where her father Nicholas grew up. And while she was born into Mantle and raised in Atlas, she never forgot those roots, always looking for ways to help the people of Mantle whenever Atlas abandoned them. Though, after marrying Jacques, it became harder to give Mantle any sort of support. First it was the questions about where the money was going to, who she was spending time with or buying out, then came the rants about how the citizens were ungrateful about the jobs that were opened as more dust mines were reclaimed, the way he talked about the faunus as tools more than people, the threats he gave about shutting down every dust shop the SDC supplied until the workers would submit to him. All the while getting pushed away in the marriage she never wanted, raising her kids to resent her as she fell to drinking to numb the pain of having to watch everything her father had built be destroyed by greed.

“Is everything okay?” Joanna asked.

Willow took a sip of her wine, savoring the taste as she sat the glass back down. “Everything is fine, just having a few second thoughts.”

“About this?”

“About my choices that were out of my control.” Willow took a breath and put up a fake smile as she adjusted how she sat on the couch, leaning in towards Joanna. “But I’ll be fine with you. Assuming a strapping, young huntress such as yourself can handle someone like me.”

Joanna rolled her eyes a bit. “I can handle you.”

“And what about your alcohol?” Willow sat up a bit and grabbed a second glass of wine to hand to Joanna, her blush growing as she really looked over Joanna. She had always prided herself on being able to act like a proper woman should whenever she needed to, but being with a huntress like Joanna, being with a woman who didnt want to use her for her money or status, was here of her own volition when the request was put on the Mantle mission board instead of being forced or paid to show like an escort.

She bit down on her lip as she offered the glass to Joanna, swirling the wine around to get the aroma in the air. “You can relax, enjoy yourself. Get comfortable. This “mission” of yours today isnt one that you have force yourself to do anything for my enjoyment, today is a day for you to spend time with an old woman who wants a bit of company.”

Joanna took the glass of wine, setting it down next to her. “And what kind of company are you looking for, exactly? Usually when an Atleasean pays for a huntsman for company-”

“I dont want anything like that. What I want is for someone to be comfortable, to want to be here.” Willow drained the rest of the wine from her glass and got up to grab a bottle of whiskey, gently pouring it like she did the wine. “To spend time with a… washed up huntress who’s married to a man who wants nothing more than money.”

“You should probably sit down before you hurt yourself.”

Willow took a sip of her whiskey, sitting down next to Joanna and leaning in close to her. She enjoyed the feel of the huntress against her, feeling safer than she had in years, feeling more comfortable than she ever knew she could. A smile crossed her lips as she started to get comfortable against Joanna, draining the last of the whiskey from her glass. “All I want is someone to cuddle with.”

Joanna sighed and put an arm around Willow, gently running her fingers along her side. “And you’re sure this is all you want?”

Willow nodded, content against the huntress as she cuddled against her. “Just cuddling. Safety.” She relaxed a bit and closed her eyes to doze off, listening to Joanna’s heart beat. “Like things used to be.”

sorry i got so distracted and forgot to look at tumblr but OHHH THANK YOU YES.... OOOOHHH THATS A FUN QUESTION

to me that depends like. when they get together. as ive said before, i mostly ship them post-canon and i have my silly au with their getting together scene written out, when theyre both seniors in high school (i know people havent read that LOL so to summarize - scary realizes that she has a really bad crush on normal and does her absolute best to ignore it. one night theyre hanging out along because lincoln&taylor are on a date and normals complaining about how hes never going to find love, and then he turns it on her, poking her about how come she isnt dating anyone. she basically confesses but due to normal being oblivious, he thinks she has a crush on taylor, and shes so stunned by that that she just kisses normal to get her point across. theyre SILLAY)

but thats boring, ive already done it (joke i still love it), so i wanna talk about if they got together closer to canon. like at the end of this season, starting around where we are now (hopefully with minimal spoilers LOL)!! to start - i always like scary crushing on normal first. it just makes me happy. but ive always written scary confessing to normal, so i think it would be fun to reverse that

like scary gets this crush on normal, probably around the time he comforts her in the Meat Room (😂); hes always so sweet to her despite everything, he always goes out of his way for her, and she cant help but fall for it. she buries those feelings because they feel so inappropriate- theyre trying to save dood, and on a more personal level, her step-dad just died, she cant think about it, theres too much going on. but shes sitting on those feelings and normal just keeps being nice to her and its getting to her. and in turn, normal realizes he has a crush on her in return when she tries to hug him when he goes back to the mascot costume. like scary, hes way too overwhelmed with everything to even really think about it, and hes a little convinced that she doesnt really even like him as a friend, that the hug was just pity, but the crush is still there. normal has never been good at denying his feelings, he knows its there, and its killing him too

and so they have that super like, YA novel romance subplot where theres tension building between them, and theyre utterly unaware that the other person likes them back, and they have so much going on that pursuing anything would be stupid. but theyre teens and theyre hormonal so they cant just ignore it, and they keep having these awkward moments of getting flustered and everyone around them is like "😐... what are they doing."

and it eventually comes out in the climax of everything. normal is completely set on sacrificing himself, because thats who he is, he wants to martyr himself so fucking badly all the time bgjdbfghbhfbdhj and scary is fed up trying to talk him down and she ends up hitting him with something like, "i thought you wanted to get together with hermie or whatever, youre just throwing that away now?" "i kind of got over that awhile ago, scary." "then why have you still been acting like such a loser lately?!" [pause] "because i wanted to get together with you instead." and scary is just STUNNED and he takes that chance to run off and try and enact his plan. and inevitably he survives because like i said. YA novel romance subplot ghjbfdghbfdhj and scary runs to his side and theyre basically just yelling at each other about everything, scary is relieved and also furious, normal is mortified that he dropped a confession and bailed but also so thankful hes alive, and then at some point in their yelling they end up kissing instead--

wow. okay so i didnt mean to like, plot out a fanfiction in response to this ask but UMMMM i hope this answers your question ^-^
