#not snz and not a vent... just passive musing#had a dream two nights ago where someone who i used to know (and love a little) wished me goodbye with a#kiss to the hand before i flew away from them forever on a magic chair#which is very stud//io g//hi//bli-esque and frankly very unserious but#the feeling of grief i felt saying goodbye to a friendship which i had once held so close to me - and which i know can probably never#be as close as it was at that point in my life - stuck with me for a long time even after i woke up#it's been something i've been thinking about for awhile... but the dream felt like such a concrete and painful severance#i think that like a childish part of me wants to hold the people i'm close to at#the same distance and trust that they will stay there forever#but logically i know it's natural that the people i met under certain circumstances might drift apart once those circumstances change#for one or both of us... i guess friendship really is just a lucky convergence at one point in time where everything aligns#like i know this and i have known this for awhile but god does it hurt#especially those kinds of goodbyes that feel so gradual... not like a clear severing of ties but just a gradual disappearance#i think i probably have to not feel so hung up over what i used to have. and for the most part i am not; life goes on#but for those people?#i sometimes just miss them#there's a special kind of hurt knowing that i could reach out to them and say hello and that they would probably respond but that it might#never be quite the same again

FUMBLED! ; okkotsu yuuta > yuuta's never been good with words. it's no surprise that he's even worse with confessions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okkotsu yuuta is a pacifict at heart. sure, he's committed his fair share of violent crimes, but as was the life of a jujutsu sorcerer. in practice, he was cruel. in actuality, he'd never hurt a fly.
yuuta took extra long on rainy day walks to avoid stepping on worms. he made sure to never dog-ear pages on his books, and he always set out extra meals in case his friends didn't feel like making their own dinners. okkotsu yuuta was kind as he was gentle- a peaceful spirit in totality.
things might change today, though, because he is genuinely considering strangling his friends.
well, not actually- he thinks he'd rather run away and cry than strangle anyone. running away and crying would be a lot less awkward than murder. and god knows that he couldn't handle even more tension. the air was thick with it now- a heavy sort of smoke, so present that he could taste it in the sky and it suffocated the people in its vicinity.
no one spoke for a few beats before panda laughed awkwardly: "well, i think that's our cue to leave!"
yuuta watches helplessly as panda grabs maki and toge by their collars before hauling them away, effectively leaving you and yuuta alone in the courtyard of tokyo jujutsu high.
the words from the previous conversation still hung in the air like a cloud. he could practically read them in the wind: maki's jovial teasing, toge's interesting additions, your pretty, pretty laugh- and panda dropping a bomb.
("what, do you have plans this weekend?" maki had interrogated yuuta when he declined the group's request to grab dinner in town on the upcoming weekend. he was about to reply when panda cut him off- "he's probably waiting to ask you-know-who out."
yuuta remembers freezing and hearing maki laugh, not noticing how you approached with toge by your side. "you need to do it already."
yuuta is again cut off by panda's exclamation. "i know, right! y/n's so cool, and you like them so much it's sad. plus, they won't stay single forever-"
"what did you just say?" your voice took everyone by surprise. the quiet following was hollow and still. that was what led up to this- the awkward silence. the stand-off. what very well might be the end of the world, in yuuta's eyes.)
"you like me?"
you're the first to talk again, breaking the boy out of his mind. he thinks you look so pretty, even when you're just standing there, even when you're confused, even when you might turn him down.
right now, there is no warzone more chaotic than okkotsu yuuta's mind. there is no nuclear warfare as destructive as the storm thundering through his neurons. there has never been a no man's land as deathly and ghastly as the folds of his brain are at that moment. there are a thousand thoughts buzzing around in his head- all of them say the same thing. i like you, i like you, i like you, his brain chants in a million ways.
he breathes in. and then out again. here goes nothing.
okkotsu yuuta opens his mouth and puts every ounce of trust he has into his words. 'i like you,' he repeats to himself in his head, waiting for his tongue to echo those syllables out loud.
yuuta has never been lucky. he should've expected the wires of his mind to be crossed. because of the dozens of trains of thought traveling at breakneck speeds around his head, the tracks of 'do you like me back?' and 'can i kiss you?" cross paths. he is so, so unlucky, because all he ends up saying is "do you kiss me back?"
you blink at him. he blinks at you. "do i what?"
it's then yuuta realizes his mistake. "oh. oh, oh no. wait. i meant- i didn't mean- i didn't want to say that. no, no, you don't have to kiss me- i mean, i wouldn't, like- wait, no. no. i'm sorry. i'm so- i am so sorry. oh my gosh. i didn't mean to say that."
yuuta's gaze is fixed hard on the ground, so he doesn't see you moving to close the distance between the both of you. his own mind is racing so he can barely register the feeling of your warm hands cupping his face. he's going so insane that he thinks he might be imagining how you promptly slam your lips against his with a conviction he thinks he could fall in love with.
he doesn't realize what's happening at first, but as soon as he does, he's kissing back. it's messy, and decidedly not neat- he's not sure what he's doing but it feels so right that he thinks he'll let himself fail for a little bit- but it's perfect to the both of you.
"you talk," you say when you pull away, "so much. like, a lot."
he looks at you like you hold the sun in the sky and brought fire to mankind. "you kissed me."
"i guess i did."
"so.. you do like me back?"
you purse your lips and move your arms around his neck, shifting even closer. your lips ghost his cheek and you can feel the shiver passing through him. "maybe just a little," you can't help but tease.
"i'll like you enough for the both of us, then. i kinda already do, i think."
Tumblr media
✄ this was written for the mitsies 3k follower event with the prompts they’re nervous to confess so instead of saying ‘can i kiss you’ or ‘do you like me back’ they say “do you kiss me back?” + kissing to get them to stop talking

Tumblr media
⋆ look up the word 'whipped' in a dictionary and it will say 'clarisse la rue' (adj.)
⋆ clarisse who was lowkey a loser (in the most endearing way) when she first liked you.
⋆ once she developed a lil crush on you, she was obsessed with you (not in the weird way) — if you were happy, so was she, and if you were mad, she was, as well. she was immediately heads over heels for you.
⋆ clarisse would hold a stoic expression (despite the fact she was practically in love with you) on her face the entire time you guys would hang out, and by the time she returned to her cabin, she'd kick herself, replaying your guys' conversation in her mind ("what possessed you to say that … wtf?" often leading to her groaning into her pillow)
⋆ clarisse was literally on cloud nine whenever you would laugh at her jokes, smile at her, look at her, and hold her hand.
⋆ when every camper but you found out, it was over—no more peace for her. trust she's getting flamed every second by everyone.
⋆ she never really planned to confess to you, and even if she did plan to, clarisse hoped it was a special moment. however, that special moment never came. you two were hanging out, just walking around the forest, nothing too special.
⋆ everything would be normal until you did something that was unusual to her, that would just make her heart pound.
⋆ maybe you looked at her lips for a little too long, or beamed an extra wide smile. all clarisse knew was that she had to confess to you.
⋆ and when you told her you felt the same way she did, she was over the moon. she was so overjoyed that she pulled you into her arms, closing the distance between the two of you—her velvety lips against yours.
⋆ and after that, all clarisse could do was keep you in her grasp, never letting you go.
Tumblr media
⋆ gf!clarisse, who sticks to you like glue. it's like she has to have her arms around your waist or else she'll die. often, she looks so outwardly cold and intimidating, especially with her reputation, but on the inside, she is sooo warm and gentle towards you. she's not majorly into physical touch, unless if it was with you. she lovesss it when you reciprocate her touch; if she leans on you, resting her head on your lap, and you play with her hair, braiding it, she'll let out a sigh of relief. moments like those were what clarisse cherished most—being able to enjoy each other's company.
⋆ gf!clarisse, who is surprisingly sooo romantic that you don't even know how to react. rather than outwardly telling you her feelings, she shows her love through actions. she's not that expressive in the sense that she is able to express all her love for you with her words. though, she'll occasionally sneak in gifts for you, writing tiny notes that you keep in your drawers every time she gifts you something. despite clarisse not being super over the top about her feelings, you never go a day without feeling how much she adored you.
⋆ gf!clarisse, whose eyes express the infatuation she held for you. she looks at you like you're the center of her universe. when you first noticed the intensity, you thought her eyes were like little crescent moons.
⋆ gf!clarisse, who listens to you talk every second, making sure she absorbed each word you said. she'd let you talk on and on forever if that was what you needed, and it was endearing. she'd watch you with heart-eyes, listening intently to you.
⋆ gf!clarisse, who just loves kissing you. she cherishes her kisses with you, always whispering a compliment in your ear right after. after kissing you for the first time, she couldn't imagine kissing anyone else !!!
⋆ gf!clarisse, who diverts every single ounce of her attention to you, no matter what !! it doesn't matter if somebody else is talking, if you're trying to say something, she isn't even gonna glance at the other person. her gaze is on you, and you only. she'd say 'keep going' to you if someone were to cut you off, or change the subject. clarisse would never want you to be excluded in any way, so she devotes her attention to you for everything.
⋆ gf!clarisse, who notices every little detail about you; every thing you like, is etched somewhere in the back of her mind !! so when you're feeling down or having hard times, she prepares everything you love, just to make you feel better.
⋆ gf!clarisse, who wouldn't verbally ask you to cuddle, but wouldn't hesitate to initiate one. cuddling was frequent between the two of you, especially on late nights where either you or clarisse faced nightmares.

#01 Fall
Simeon x GN! MC
TW: Dubcon, Penetration
"Simeon... stop please...not like this! Ah!!" You yelped as he thrust himself inside you again. And again. He was delirious - you'd almost wondered if he was drunk.
Only he wasn't. He had never been more serious about something. "Its okay, MC. I want this. I know you do too. We both want this. Let it happen."
This was wrong. You weren't worth throwing away his chastity. You weren't worth his fall from grace. But you were weak against his desire. Strong arms held you down, his shining blue eyes weakening your resolve.
"No Simeon, please...stop, I can't...I can't do this to you!" You struggled and moaned in vain. You could almost see his wings behind him - burning, withering, one feather at a time. But he didn't seem to care.
"I've held back for too long, MC. Too long." Simeon flipped you around, pulling you closer, pressing frantic kisses on your shoulders, his hands firmly gripping your hips. Why was this pleasure forbidden to angels? It was simply unfair.
The sleepover was only an excuse he'd used many times before. Just to have you lie next to him. That used to be enough. But slowly and surely, it wasn't anymore.
He watched you toss and turn in a silk white pajama Asmo had lent you, until his fingers made his way to your exposed skin. Little did you know it would end like this - his naked body lingering over you, softly whispering you to wake up.
"Simeon!" You pleaded again as he changed positions, thrusting faster now. His release was close and so was his downfall. You gripped his shoulders, as he bounced you on his lap.
"Ah MC ...MC, you're so divine.." He kissed your lips and suckled on the bottom one. "Trust me dove, you're worth it...Ugh... You're worth everything. I'd do anything to stay just ...like... this... forever..."
His release came at the same time as yours and he filled you up with his shimmering seed. You panted, letting it happen. You were too fucked out to know any better.
"Simeon..." You felt like crying. You were content loving him from a distance. You didn't mean to tempt him like this. Just so you could protect his status as an angel.
"Don't you cry, MC." He cupped your cheek as he laid down on the bed with you again. "This was the best thing that ever happened to me. It was absolutely worth falling for."

When you started dating Mick you knew half of your relationship would be long-distance, not only because of his racing weeks but also because you always found yourself super busy with school and work. As the saying goes, it takes two to tango, and well, didn't Mick decide he was the best dancer in the world?!
He did.
Mick Schumacher was not only the dancer figuratively speaking, but he also made sure the music would be there, and that the band would play as you two went.
It felt great to have him as a partner, to share the good and the bad of life and not be afraid of judgment. To Mick, it felt exactly the same, except although your relationship was, to some extent, new, he knew you were there to stay, or at least that he would make sure you stayed as long as possible because life after you made his heart squeeze in sadness. Everyone from his personal life loved you and loved your connection, his mom would ask about you, his sister always talked with you, and his friends would share how happier he seemed whenever you were around or the subject of a conversation,
And then there was Angie, Angie was obsessed with you, she would wiggle her tail excitedly every time she heard your name or your voice, and she went as far as stealing a pair of clothing of yours from Mick's closet to sleep with it in her little dog bed.
That was one of the reasons why Mick thought it would be a good idea to ask you to watch her during this racing week. You loved her and she loved you and he was well aware of how lonely you could get studying non-stop and getting home to an empty apartment. It was joining the useful to the pleasant, everyone would be happy.
When Mick asked if you were okay to stay with his dog for a week while he was away you were surprised and flattered because that meant he trusted you to watch over something he loved and cherish deeply. He trusted you with Angie, it is not the same as when someone lets you borrow a car or a bike, it was a dog.
His dog.
His precious dog.
It was Angie.
And you loved Angie so of course you loved the idea of having her around. When Mick left, after making sure to remind you of her diet, and the little habits you were still getting used to, Angie curled herself on your side and just chilled with one of her toys while you took notes to get ahead for an important class.
Things went smoothly during the week. She would make sure to stay around you, and sometimes it felt like she was watching you and not the other way around. You two would go for walks before you left to work and then when you got home from uni. You would eat together, her little bowl of dog food close to you while you were seating on the sofa or sometimes even on the ground beside her. Your bond just got stronger and you were starting to wish to have her around all the time. It was common to see her when Mick was around, but it wasn't the same as getting home to her or seeing her happy wiggle when you gave her a treat or let her run in the park.
When Mick got home you were laying on the sofa watching a movie after a stressful college day. Angie was laying right beside you, her little head resting on your belly while you scratched mindlessly behind her ears and ran your fingers through her soft fur.
You were almost sleeping when you heard the keys jiggling and the door opening. Angie was already at the door, tail excitedly wiggling for her best friend. Mick got in and dropped his luggage at the entrance before crouching down to pet and hug her.
It felt domestic whenever he decided to come straight to you from the airport instead of going to his own house. It felt like your home was his home, and you loved that. Having Angie around now only amplified the feeling.
"Hi, my angel!! I've missed you too!!" Mick scratched her ears while she tried to lick all over his face, "How was it staying with mommy this time? Did she you enough treats? Did she spoil you, Angie?"
You froze on your spot. Mick had just referred to you as Angie's mom. The mom of his dog to whom he was the dad. And you were the mom.
Your heart rate picked up and everything just combined: how much you missed him, how he was always the best boyfriend you've ever had, how he trusted you, and now, how he saw a future with you, how serious he was about it. You felt almost like crying.
"Hey, meine Liebe," you were so lost in your thoughts you did not see when Mick approached you. A huge grin on his face.
"Hi, babe," you managed to answer while getting up to hug him close to you. His arms circled your waist and smashed your bodies together.
"I've missed you so much," he breathes, distancing himself just enough to find your lips with his in a passionate and longing kiss.
"I've missed you too," you whispered, hands on his shoulders for support.
Mick didn't miss a beat before laying both of you on the couch, your body propped on top of his, his hands imprinting themselves around you.
"Did you refer to me as Angie's mom?" you blurted anxiously after some minutes of silence, too many feelings to be kept inside.
Mick studied your face for a beat, his fingers caressing your jaw and chin, "I-I did, I'm sorry if it-"
"No, no need to be sorry. I'm Angie's mom, she's my baby," you happily exclaimed and Mick chuckled.
"She's our baby," he corrected pecking your lips.
"I love you," it was a whisper, but he was watching your lips and he saw the exact second it scaped between them.
"I love you," he repeated and you kissed him one more time before making space for Angie to cuddle you two on the couch.
You couldn't be happier.

The sounds of Hell's Kitchen filled Matt's apartment as you finally get out of bed for the day. People talking, car horns beeping, police sirens in the distance. It was a late night filled with vigilante escapades and sex with your boyfriend.
You sit up on the bed to stretch your sore muscles, feeling the aches of bruises from the past week on your skin. You heard Matt stir, a sign that he will be awake soon.
There's no point in trying to be quiet around him. He can hear your heartbeat from 5 blocks down.
"Good morning, sweetheart." You hear Matt's morning voice behind you. As you turn around, you marvel at the man that you share a bed with every night. His hazel eyes have a touch of sunlight in them, the green popping ahainst his tired eyes.
"Good morning Matthew." You press your lips to his pillow soft ones, a place you have grown fond of. His lips had to have been sculpted by the Gods. His face is a Renaissance painting. Only you get to feel it with your fingertips.
"You must've slept well. You added the good in 'good morning'." Matt brought his hand to the side of your face, stroking your cheek with his thumb.
"Ever since I started staying with you, I've slept so much better." You close your eyes and lean your cheek into his palm.
Before Matt, you were a vigilante that was frequently hired by people like Wilson Fisk to take out any enemies, or potential enemies.
The first time you met you were assigned to take out Daredevil. Obviously, that's not an easy task. But you needed the money.
The night was cold, your skin filled with goosebumps as you jumped from rooftop to rooftop. You would hear steps, but never saw him.
Until he striked.
Fisk wanted Daredevil gone, but he is a force to be messed with. You kept running into him, but never having the guts to take him out, and he felt the same as you.
You didn't know he was Matt Murdock until a few months after your first encounter. You were jaded from your past, as was he. Learning to trust does not come easy to either of you.
"Baby, come back to bed." Matt almost whined, his large hands grasping yours to pull you down to him.
"Fine, 5 minutes." You eliminate any space between your bodies and allow your lips to find his.
"Make that forever." Matt smirked against your lips.
"You're impossible." You feel Matt's tongue snake into your mouth, doing a dance you are all too familiar with.
The first time you and Matt had sex there was undeniable lust, love, and magic in the air. You both avoided your attraction to each other for so long. At the end of the day, the only people that didn't want to admit that you two were made for each other was you and Matt.
"I can't deny you anymore." Matt said helplessly. "Everything about you is everything I want in my life. Everything you are, I, I-"
You stare at his face as he speaks, his eyes moving to different spaces in the room with every word.
"I can't stay away from you. No matter how much you may want me to, or the world may want me to, I can't." Matt's tongue grazed his lower lip. "I want to fall asleep next to you. I want to wake up next to you. I want to share my coffee with you, even though you're psychotic and drink iced coffee regardless of the temperature outside. So you wouldn't want any of mine anyways. But I want to have the chance to share it with you."
"Matthew, are you going to let me speak?" You uncross your arms from your chest. "I wouldn't mind hearing your little speech for awhile though."
"Go ahead." Matt cleared his throat.
"I want you too." You take a step closer to Matt, taking a closer look at the bruises that mark his skin. "I want to learn how to play poole for you. I want to sit on your rooftop and take in the sounds and smells of New York with you. I want to kiss your lips first thing and the morning even though you probably have nasty morning breath."
"Aren't you just a romantic." Matt followed your lead and took a step closer to you. "Tell me to stop." He took another step towards you.
Silence.
Then another step.
And another.
And another.
Matt was now in front of you, his nose grazing yours, his hands hovering over you. "Tell me to stop."
You stare at him, silent.
His hands pressed against your hips, dragging along your curves until he grips your ass. His forehead presses to yours, like the world was finally aligned.
Matt's lips found yours, moving slowly and deliberately. His mouth was starved from yours for so long that he wanted to savor this moment. He palmed your ass gently as he slipped his tongue into your mouth, pushing your body against his once more.
"You are addicting." Matt broke the kiss briefly. He lifted you from your hips to wrap your legs around his waist, kissing you as he brought you to his bedroom where you would spend hours in the sheets.
"I'm gonna brew your coffee, baby." You plant a kiss on Matt's lips, his palm on the back of your head as you pull away. The pad of his thumb stroked your hair as you pulled away. "You never make getting out of bed easy."
"I never will."
As you brew Matt's coffee, you go through the mental checklist of what needs to be done for today. Grocery shopping, a jog through the park, and to clean Matt's apartment.
You pour the hot liquid into Matt's favorite mug - it's nothing special, but it's big enough for two cups of coffee so he loves it.
You pour a splash of creamer into the cup, stirring it with a spoon. You smile at your reflection in the liquid, unsure of how you were so lucky to live this life with Matthew.
"Be careful, it's hot-" You look up from the mug to see the bed empty.
You didn't hear Matt move from the bed. The bathroom door was never opened. You could still see the silhouette of his body tangled in the sheets.
"Matt?!" You said loudly. "This isn't funny." You opened the closet door, then the bathroom.
Nothing.
You hear people outside screaming.
"She was just here!! Where the hell did she go? She just... dusted away." You heard someone say outside the window.
"I was just talking to him and then he was evaporating before my eyes." Another worried voice screams.
Your heart fell to your stomach. You run to the bed, running your hand over where Matt's body just was.
It was still warm.

ʟᴏᴠᴇ ᴛᴏ ʜᴀᴛᴇ | ᴊᴀᴄᴀᴇʀʏꜱ ᴠᴇʟᴀʀʏᴏɴ (ᴘᴀʀᴛ ᴛᴡᴏ)
After your betrothed to Jacaerys, there’s still some enmity that lingers between you and him. But now, things are starting to dissipate as the days rush and the wedding gets closer.
warnings: Targaryen incest.
chapter 3 now up:
Tumblr media
ᴀʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ꜰʟɪʀᴛɪɴɢ
ᴏʀ ꜱᴛᴀʀᴛɪɴɢ ᴀ ꜰɪɢʜᴛ?
YOU COULDN'T SLEEP that night. The remnants of the previous events and the announcement of your betrothal to Jacaerys Velaryon kept you wide awake. After tossing and turning, you eventually pushed up onto your elbow and blearily blinked, looking around your chamber with utter fatigue.
"This is ridiculous," you mumbled to yourself, pinching the bridge of your nose in frustration. It wasn't in your nature to feel so uneasy by things like these, and yet, you couldn't help it.
The thoughts of being tethered to Jacaerys forever retaliated worry in the pit of your stomach. Despite the years, you knew he still hated your guts, your character, everything in general that made you– well, you. Somehow, you could not imagine a more detestable faith than the one you were given, although, he wasn't as bad as you once imagined him to be.
On the contrary, he was almost nice to look at.
You fumbled with your fingers at the thought of the brown strands of hair that pricked just below his ears. At the infuriating grin that curved his lips and the soft color of his eyes that curiously lit when he looked at you.
Stop that, you thought.
"Idiot," you eventually mumbled, tossing the sheets aside to climb out of bed. After a few minutes, you decided to step out of your chamber and walk down the corridors of the castle to clear your head a little. You hated feeling this way, it just wasn't like you to stay up at night with lingering thoughts.
And yet, there you were walking alone.
"Did you lose some sleep over me?"
Or so you thought.
Faltering on your spot, you felt the sudden wave of sheepishness rolling over your skin again. But you took in a deep breath and turned to face him with an unfazed demeanor. "You would love that, wouldn't you?"
"I wouldn't mind," Jace admitted, taking a few deliberate steps closer to dissipate the distance between you. Abandoning your thoughts for a minute, you stood tall to meet his height – but your head barely brushed his chin, and he chuckled at the height difference.
"What do you want?"
"I'm just enjoying my future wife's company, that's all." His lips itched at his last words, and it made you wonder if he was teasing you, in which case – it was rather annoying.
"Why did you agree to the arrangement of this marriage? Was it to get back at me?"
His eyebrows jumped. "Me? I had no saying in this, trust me. I would much rather marry your brother Aemond than share a bed with you and your hundreds of diamond necklaces."
There it was.
The thinly-veiled insinuation of you being a whore. The truth was, it never bothered you before, his words were never something that touched your heart, but that night, something shifted and it made your blood boil.
So, you clenched your jaw and made to walk away, but he was quick to latch his fingers onto your wrist to pull you back in. But this time, you could smell the citrus aroma that lingered on his neck, and up close, you could see the bits of brown that seeped into his irises so gently, and – just like that, you suddenly realized a short step would sufficed to close the distance between your lips and his.
You swallowed hard.
Subconsciously, he looked down at your lips. "I wonder, when the day of our wedding comes, how many lords will I have to kill? When they realize they can't have you anymore?"
A chill kissed down your spine, the low tone of his voice caught you off guard. It was menacing and teasing and honest all at the same time – it almost made you exhale a shaky breath. But then, you noticed the way his muscles wracked with tension when your hip accidentally pressed against his lower stomach, and something suddenly clicked in your head.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that," you suddenly dropped your voice into susurrus, leveling your vision to look at him squarely in the face before warmly breathing out. "After all, I doubt you have the things I love to go after."
If looks could have killed, you would have been three feet underground in that moment. There was a fuming tick in his jaw that made you grin, but before you could fall back a step, he tightened his grip around your wrist and pulled you closer. His lips brushed against the corner of your mouth, a feather-like touch that made you freeze as he suddenly challenged. "I wouldn't be so sure about that."
And then he placed a fleeting kiss on your cheek, but as if you had suddenly been an open flame, he let go quickly of your touch and spun on his heel to walk away from you.
With that, he disappeared in the shadows and left you alone in the middle of the corridor.

Before dawn, you were wakened up by your handmaiden. After last night's announcement, you were to travel back to Dragonstone with Jacaerys and your sister Rhaenyra but not before biding your brothers a farewell.
"I can't believe you are to marry a bastard," Aegon deadpanned, but when your face fell and your arms dropped from his waist, he tightened his grip on you and lowly whispered, "Fine, I suppose I apologize for that."
"Don't, it's only the truth," Aemond soon interjected, but despite his harsh words and your uncomfortable shift, he embraced you into a warm hug. "Don't ever forget where you truly are from, dear sister, we certainly will not."
Careful not to ruin the moment, you stepped back and gave them a faint smile. "Despite your stupidity, I must admit I will miss you both."
Aemond scuffed but nodded. "As will I."
"I suppose you will send letters, will you not?"
"I will," You clarified, stifling a smile that fought to curve the corners of your lips. Despite your brothers' words and idiotic actions, it was evident they both loved you as who you were. "After all, I wasn't able to give a farewell to our father. I will most likely write within a few hours to hear from him, I feel a bit concerned."
After that, you eventually walked away to meet with your betrothed. He was waiting for you with Rhaenyra, but he was adamant in dismissing your presence for some reason. After last night, you supposed things would have softened a bit, after all – he was the one that kissed you, but you were far from right.
After the tension ensued in the atmosphere, your sister decided to finally break the silence. "It has been some time since you and I have shared the same roof over our heads, sister. I'm truly honored to have you by our side again."
"Of course," you answered, and reached for her hand, to which she gladly squeezed.
"We will fly on dragon back to Dragonstone, I suppose you know how to ride, princess?" Jacaerys questioned, but he didn't bother to spare a glance in your direction as he maneuvered his way toward his dragon.
Of course, you knew.
And he knew it.
"What makes you think I don't?" You bitterly questioned, but he didn't design to answer, and, somehow, that made you bite back your tongue lividly. You were starting to detest the way he was waving you off, it was almost indignant and irritating at the same time.
So, when Sir. Criston Cole's figure suddenly stumbled into the corner of your eye, a mischievous smile itched your lips.
Your dragon was waiting for you, his chest was pressed against the ground as he watched you make your way towards him. So, when it was time to climb onto his back, you turned towards Sir. Criston Cole with alluring eyes that made him walk towards you at once.
"Allow me, princess – "
" – Oh, that won't be necessary, Sir. Criston," Jacaerys voice suddenly pressed behind your ears, and before you could react, he placed his hands around your hips and lift you into the air without a warning. "I got my betrothed."
Throwing him a glare, you eventually came back to reality and reached the sidesaddle, but not before his fingers squeezed your hips and you almost lost your footing on the climb. After that, you threw Sir. Criston Cole an apologetic look and he gladly accepted it with a nod.
"Farewell, princess." He called you.
"Thank – "
" – we are to leave now," Jacaerys interjected.
And with that, you departed King's Landing rather annoyed.

After the tedious journey and the previous lack of sleep, you arrived at Dragonstone with tremendous fatigue that made you apologize and dismiss yourself to your chamber. The room was nice and fit to your standards, so it took you no time to fall asleep at once.
Unfortunately, the peace that blessed your dreams was soon annihilated when the loud knocking on your door jolted you awake. You cursed under your breath, the lack of sleep made you climb out of bed with a menacing look on your face as you parted the door.
"Not you again – "
" – Yes, your future husband."
" - Can you stop calling yourself that – " but the words faded in between the sudden yawns that made your nose wrinkle up tiredly. Subconsciously, Jacaerys smiled at the fleeting innocent facade that flashed across your features without you even realizing it.
"Oh, did I disturb your sweet dreams, love?" The feigned tone of innocence in his voice made you glare at him, but the drowsiness inside your flesh and muscles made you dismiss him almost immediately. You began to slowly trace your steps back to your bed, but your vision suddenly turned bleary and you stumbled forward.
Jace was quick to race towards your frame, within a split second, he slid one arm behind your waist and the other behind your knees to lift your body and carry you towards the bed with an evident groan of annoyance.
"Fuck, why are you so heavy?" He tried to deadpan, but when there was no answer and your face suddenly buried into his neck, he began to grow anxious. "Are you alright?"
"Shut up." You mumbled, as the bed deepened with the weight of both of your bodies.
"Perhaps, Sir. Criston should be accommodating you and not me, don't you think?" He suddenly uttered, withdrawing his arm back to move a little further away, as if suddenly realizing you were both laying in bed together, but your hand latched onto his sleeve.
Absently minded, you pulled him back towards your side with a low whisper. "Perhaps."
Relishing the sudden gesture, he stifled a faint smile as he slide his arm around you, but this time, your face relaxed under his touch.
You were almost asleep when he finally decided to drop his gaze and look down at you. Your snow-white hair was matted and splayed against his arm, it contrasted so preciously against your face as if it was almost made for you and just you.
Your body was curled to his side, hands resting underneath your chin like a small child. Your eyes were closed, your long eyelashes brushed against your cheekbones as your chest rose and fell with even breaths. And his fingers suddenly itched to touch your face, to trace with the pad of his fingers all your dainty features that he so often detested – because they weren't his.
God, did he hate the thought of that?
But it was true.
He hated how all eyes were on you.
He hated how many suitors were at your feet.
He hated not having you to himself.
But, of course, he would much rather die than admit it out to the wind. So, when he was certain you were sleeping, he pulled away from your touch and made his way out without a word as if almost running away from you.

You remained frozen in your spot until the car's sound slowly disappeared. What broke you out of your trance was the raspy, struggling breaths that came from the floor a few meters away.
It took a long time to unglue your shoes from the hardwood floor; it felt like you were stuck to it and would stay like that forever, unable to move out of fear. When you eventually succeeded, you turned bit by bit to face Jake.
His sluggish eyes had never left you. They were begging silently for you to make a choice - save him or leave him?
It seemed like he had already guessed what you would choose. More fresh tears slowly slid down his paling skin and his eyes finally looked away when he started sniffling again.
You watched him, feeling very conflicted on the inside. You wondered if he felt bad for everything he had done, if he would change if you saved him, or if he would continue the same way as before.
There was also some fear on your part. Why were you hesitating about a life? It was your bully, but it was still another person like you. Playing God wasn’t something that was right, was it?
So why did you want him to die? All you saw when looking at the writhing, pathetic struggling human on the floor was Jake; you couldn’t see another person who deserved to be saved, who was empathetic and kind and sweet.
And that scared you. What would Soobin think of you if you told him that? He had already expressed how he thought you were changing. This wasn’t like you. The old you would’ve rushed to call an ambulance, heart drumming in your chest with adrenaline and panic at the thought of someone dying in front of you and knowing you could’ve changed the outcome.
But the new you? Didn’t feel much when looking at him except for very small pity. He hadn’t even betrayed his friends yet he would get killed by them - the ones he probably cherished and trusted most. The worst part was how Jungwon hadn’t even hesitated. Nothing was behind those eyes when he delivered a killing blow to his best friend of years.
Just like the tears running down Jake’s face, you were aware of time running out. Then, you made a choice.
You walked out just in time to see the ambulance near in the distance - technically you hadn’t saved him, but you gave him and God the choice of whether to survive the trip to the hospital…or not.
You refused to change into a heartless person. That wasn’t who you were no matter how much they’d hurt you.
*******
You had three days to think of something. Three days was a very long time in a case like this, but also not enough time.
Standing out in the cold you watched the ambulance leave and took out your phone. No taxis would come out to that place especially not at that hour. So you did the only thing you could think of - call your dad.
‘’ Y/n! Oh, I was so worried about you. ‘’
You scoffed, ‘’ Yeah, right. I need you to do me a favor, it’s the least you can do after going behind my back. ‘’
‘’ Okay…what do you want me to do? ‘’
‘’ Come get me. I’m at Soobin’s cabin which is about an hour or two from the city. I’ll text you the address. ‘’
You hung up before hearing his answer. Being curt and stern would probably make him more likely to do it since he could feel you keeping a distance and being cold. Maybe he thought you’d soften if he followed through, but he couldn’t be more wrong.
Waiting for your dad took too long, so you hesitantly turned back towards the cabin again. You wanted to go back, bask in the warmth, and maybe even rest since you had rejected sleep many times during the long day. However, the closer you got to the cabin, the more your brain started showing the scenes that would await you if you entered; the blood and the memories accompanying it.
Before you had even made up your mind, your feet seemed to have dragged you to the door on their own. Taking a deep breath first, you then pressed down the handle and pushed it open.
You didn’t step in yet and your eyes had been squeezed shut. It was between the cold winter outside and the potential murder scene inside.
You opened your eyes. Instinctively they went to the pool on the floor, but you forced yourself to look away. The door was now locked and you went to the second floor, too uncomfortable to sleep on the first since that’s where the events unfolded.
Then you waited; tossed and turned while waiting both for your dad and for your body to fall asleep. It was hard. The house was eerily quiet, to the point you could hear every single creak the wood made when the wind grazed the cabin.
Eventually, the exhaustion won over the paranoia. Your head fell back against the soft mattress and you slept soundly, looking more peaceful than when awake, and you continued to do so until your dad found you.
Just like when you were a kid, you were carried to the car. You woke up due to the sound of the rain pattering against the roof, but quickly fell asleep again with a smile on your face as you thought of how happy it would’ve made Soobin if he knew you finally got some rest.
*******
You woke up the next day feeling restless and antsy. You felt like you had no one to turn to and get support from or conjure up a plan with. Right then it looked like you’d spend the three days becoming more and more mentally tortured as the time was running out.
Then you’d probably show up at the doorstep, no plan or defense; you’d surrender and hope for the best - that they’d let you and most importantly Soobin go, unharmed.
Slowly you rolled out of bed. Like always when getting dressed, you avoided looking in the mirror and if you did, you never let your eyes drift to the ugly scars. If you did, it was almost like it triggered the pain all over again. Your arms would start to itch terribly, and you could feel the burning spreading like wildfire all throughout your body again.
The door opened and since you had put on your clothes already, you dared to look at the door through the mirror. You saw your dad peeking in, an ingenuine smile on his face. Then you caught a glimpse of yourself too, you looked so tired and like you’d been drained of life and happiness. You supposed it was true, you couldn’t wait for it all to be over, for you to finally get peace again.
‘’ Going to school today? ‘’
You were about to glare at him, but then your frowned forehead softened. You had nothing better to do anyway, so why not go? Would they actually go to school when they were busy holding a hostage at one of their houses? You doubted it. They had never cared much about education anyway.
You grunted at him and when he left you packed your backpack full of the books you had neglected. When you’d get to school, you feared that the teachers would question you about why your grades had been falling and why you didn’t do your homework.
Aware of the fact that exams were coming up soon you had considered studying with Soobin. The circumstances just never seemed right. New things, new burdens always seemed to pop up, leaving little room for ordinary things.
You left, walking past your dad wordlessly, and then ran to the bus, almost missing it by a few seconds. The universe must’ve really wanted you to go to school today. The bus was pretty much empty. You took a seat near the back of it and rested against the window.
The whole ride, you had your eyes closed, in between sleeping and being awake all the way until arriving at school. Pushing past the other students you managed to be one of the first ones out. You hurried to walk to the school, up the stairs, and finally to the classroom. The less people, the less anxiety.
Only when you sat down in your seat could you relax. Soon enough the room filled as more students streamed in and took their own seats. The spot where they sat were empty. You looked out to the corridor and didn’t see them there either, but who you did see however was Jiyun.
She didn’t return your wave or smile. She just continued walking, her head down so she couldn’t see you.
You grimaced and felt very offended. Sure, you hadn’t expected to make a friend, but you had at least thought she’d be polite. What was even weirder was that as you kept following her with your eyes through the glass facing the hallway, she turned quite abruptly and walked right into your classroom.
You cowered back, cautious of her unpredictable and almost erratic behavior. Walking right up to you, she looked determined. She leaned in and whispered in your ear.
‘’ Come with me to the library. ‘’
Jiyun saw how your eyebrows raised, forehead frowning when you weren’t immediately convinced, ‘’ Why? ‘’
‘’ Just, please. Do me a favor! ‘’
You stood up and followed her reluctantly out of the classroom and into the library that was on the same floor. It was empty because all the students were waiting for the first class to start. Jiyun found your hand at some point and dragged you through the maze of the bookshelves.
Stopping at the corner at the very far end from the entrance, she finally turned to you. Something flashed across her face; guilt, sadness or was it pity?
Your gaze started flickering, ‘’ Jiyun, what are we doing here? ‘’
‘’ I’m sorry. ‘’
You watched in confusion as she started unbuttoning the first buttons of her shirt, she threw the fabric off of half of her shoulder with so much force it almost ripped. Then she pulled out her ponytail but not all the way, followed by smearing some of her makeup.
‘’ Jiyun? ‘’ your voice grew more concerned, more exasperated.
No response. She picked up a book and you gasped as she hit it hard against her face. You tried to pull it out of her hands and were instead met with a slap to your face.
‘’ I have to do this. ‘’
‘’ What…’’
You ignored her and tried to reach for the book again that she had managed to hit herself with more times since you were distracted by the stinging feeling on your cheek. Fear could be felt in the pit of your stomach as things were slowly starting to get pieced together.
Red marks had formed on her face now, sure to be big bruises in a day or two. When she noticed you moving towards her in the corner of her eye, she gave you an apologetic look before kicking you hard in your stomach. You fell over and groaned, clutching your stomach and gasping for air.
‘’ Stand up. ‘’
You managed to get to a standing position with the help of the closest bookshelves that you could claw yourself up with. She looked completely disheveled when you turned to her. You were about to ask again - why are we here, why are you doing this?
Before you could, she had already turned again, heading right for the hallway. You started to follow her but were left frozen in your spot. A loud shriek ripped from Jiyun’s throat. She fell to her knees in the middle of the hall and sobbed loudly.
People ran out of the classrooms wondering what all the noise was about and quickly the space had been filled to max capacity. One girl crouched down next to her while a teacher cleared a way to get through.
‘’ What happened? ‘’
‘’ She-sh, she hurt me! ‘’
You stared at her in bewilderment, until it turned to despair and you felt a stomach-dropping feeling when with a shaky hand she pointed at you. All heads turned to you, but you only had eyes for Jiyun on the floor.
Betrayal…again? However, can you really betray someone if you never had any loyalty to them?
The panic flared up inside your body. You took a few steps back towards the people, eyes wide and filled to the brim with tears.
‘’ Y/n? What did she do? ‘’ the teacher said behind your turned back.
‘’ She hit me….she al-always bullies me and sometimes she, ‘’ Jiyun faked a hiccup in the middle of her even faker crying, ‘’ She touches…’’ her voice died out and it had the dramatic effect she must’ve hoped for.
The crowd gasped and next they murmured about how they had noticed how her clothes looked like they’d been roughly handled. You didn’t look at any of them. You knew they had already collectively decided to condemn you and believe Jiyun instead.
‘’ Y/n, is this true? ‘’
Your throat felt dry, too dry to even speak. You tried clearing it, but it almost caused you to feel like you couldn’t breathe and kickstart a panic attack so you shook your head. First gently and then more violently, almost until you got dizzy.
‘’ Come with me to my office, ‘’ she sternly said.
You felt her hand wrap around your arm in a tough hold. You were dragged past the people whose words hurt you almost physically as well as mentally. After hearing all that they said, you ended up in the chair in front of her desk with an expressionless look on your face.
You felt empty. There was barely any room for anger; it was more of an acceptance that had come after the initial horror. It was them. They were behind this 100%, and it was what Jiyun had warned you of in the bathroom.
You scoffed sarcastically. You never would’ve done that to another student, even if it meant them going even harder on you, even if it meant more burn marks. She had sold herself easily.
‘’ Is this funny to you, y/n? ‘’
It wasn’t the fact that you had slipped up and forgotten where you were and what situation you were in. It was more that you had hit rock bottom, who gives a fuck attitude?
‘’ I’m going to have to call your parents. And, ‘’ she slid a pile of papers across the desk.
‘’ You will be suspended immediately. Leave your badge and all other belongings at the check-in area. ‘’
You threw your head back, ‘’ Of course. ‘’
‘’ Excuse me? ‘’
‘’ You won’t even let me defend myself. It’s just guilty until proven innocent, hm? ‘’
‘’ We have received more reports from other students claiming to have witnessed similar events, ‘’ the teacher irritably shot back.
‘’ And let me guess, their names are Jungwon, Heeseung, Ni-ki, Sunoo, Jake, Sunghoon, and Jay, right? ‘’
Even with your eyes closed, the lack of response was a response in itself. You smiled while looking at the ceiling and crossed your arms nonchalantly.
‘’ Well fuck you guys then. This has always been a shit and unfair school who have done nothing when it came to defending me. But you’re always so eager to please these kids born with silver spoons in their mouths, fucking hypocrites. ‘’
The teacher gasped and you heard the others in the room stand up to see who the disrespectful student was. You turned and didn’t look back. You meant every word you said and you had waited so long to say it.
They wanted this to crush you and sure, it had made you finally lose it. But for the future, if you won the fight this was a blessing in disguise.
*******
After coming home, your dad bothered you with a lot of questions which you ignored completely. The door was slammed in his face like usual and he stared at the wood with regret and shame again, wondering why his daughter refused to talk to him even though he was trying so hard.
That night, you slept well. You cried yourself to sleep, letting everything you had been keeping in for who knows how long, just get out. It felt like a huge burden had been taken off your shoulders, you felt lighter and slept like a baby.
The next morning, you had a plan in mind - to see your mom at the hospital and then Yeonjun. You technically had two more days left but since you didn’t have a school to go to anymore and Yeena was unreachable, these were the two things you wanted to do the most.
The staff at the hospital gave you dirty looks when you told them your name and said why you were there. Walking past some while taking the elevator, you caught a few words here and there. They seemed to judge you, calling you a bad daughter for not visiting when your mom had been there for so long.
You didn’t care. It was a private hospital that treated snobby, rude, and probably at some times undeserving rich people. It was no wonder the staff would be similar. With a head held high, you stepped into the elevator and flashed them a smile. They turned away and looked uncomfortable.
‘’ Your mom’s room is on the 16th floor. In the VIP section. ‘’ you saw in the mirrors on the walls how they looked you up and down.
‘’ Did you pay for this? ‘’
‘’ No. ‘’
They didn’t ask any more questions and just led you to the room, leaving afterward to give you some privacy. Your mom looked more vibrant than the last time you had seen her.
Sitting on her bed, she was looking out of the window at the beautiful view. Her cheeks looked less hollow like she had gained some weight and her skin looked less pale.
‘’ Hi, mom. ‘’
Her head whipped around and her face lit up, ‘’ Y/n! I’ve been waiting for you. ‘’
You sat down on her bed and let her pull you into her arms. She kissed the top of your head and rubbed your back as if you were the one who was sick.
‘’ How have you been, honey? ‘’
‘’ It’s okay. Not much has changed since last time. ‘’
She looked concerned and you felt bad for letting a frown form on her warm face so you leaned into her touch and smiled comfortingly.
‘’ It’s fine mom, I’m doing well. ‘’
‘’ And Soobin? ‘’
You hesitated, ‘’ What about him? ‘’
‘’ Is he doing well? Last time I saw you two, you were hiding from someone. ‘’
‘’ He’s…fine too. They weren’t anyone important mom, stop worrying. ‘’
She nodded and leaned back. Her eyes were still set on the horizon outside, the big skyscrapers outside accompanying it.
‘’ I like it here, ‘’ your mom sighed contently, ‘’ But I want to go outside with my daughter. ‘’
Your smile turned sorrowful. ‘’ One day. One day soon we will do that. ‘’
Only a half-smile pulled at the corners of her lips.
‘’ Do you really think so, honey? ‘’
‘’ Of course, ‘’ a tear rolled down your cheek.
‘’ I would take you to that park near our old house, the one you used to play so much in. Do you remember it? ‘’
The sheets ruffled as you angled your head to look at her. The light shining through the windows made her look so much like an angel, just like it; she beamed with hope, love, and warmth.
‘’ I do. ‘’
‘’ You didn’t have many friends so mommy always played with you ‘’ she looked at you when the fond memory came to mind, ‘’ But what did I always tell you? ‘’
‘’ There’s nothing wrong with being alone in this world, ‘’ you whispered thickly, holding back more tears from spilling.
Although it was a sweet memory for your mom. You had always suppressed it because it always reminded you of the grim future that followed that moment. Nothing changed. Ever since birth you had, had few by your side. Never did you fit in, never did you have genuine friends. Never understood, never loved.
You buried your face into your mom’s hospital gown. She hummed and put her arm around you to bring you closer. You stayed like that for a while, just relaxing under her wings.
When it was time to go, you looked back at her one last time and promised to visit soon with Soobin by your side. You hoped that the next time you’d see her would be the day of her discharge.
*******
You knocked on the door before you changed your mind and turned around. The sound almost made the silence after seem even more deafening than before. No movement could be heard on the other side so slowly you turned, ready to leave disappointed.
‘’ Y/n, is that you? ‘’ a weak voice mumbled, stopping you in your tracks.
You stared back at the door in disbelief. It had been so quiet that you were questioning if you’d imagined it or not.
‘’ Yeonjun? ‘’
The lock clicked and the door creaked open. It revealed Yeonjun who looked like he’d been through hell. Not only did he have dark circles under his eyes, disheveled hair and was wearing the same clothes he was when you saw him last; but, you could also see all the trash in the back. It looked like he had purposefully ruined his room.
Papers, books, clothes, all laid crumpled up or torn on the floor, right next to the bags of snacks and cans of drinks.
‘’ How- ‘’ you licked your lips, unsure of what to say. ‘’ How…are you doing? ‘’
He chuckled sarcastically, ‘’ What does it look like? ‘’
You chewed on your lips.
‘’ I’m sorry. About everything, and I should’ve come to check up on you sooner. ‘’
Yeonjun stared at you for some seconds in silence. Then he nodded, a fake smile ghosting over his lips briefly before he went back to looking sullen.
‘’ How’s Soobin? ‘’
He must’ve noticed your hesitance because his eyes suddenly widened, looking a lot more interested and lively than earlier.
‘’ Has he hurt him? ‘’
‘’ Jungwon? No, I don’t think so, ‘’ you truthfully said.
‘’ Then what? ‘’
‘’ Soobin brought me to your cabin. I- um…came up with the idea to bring Jake there, luring him and making him give us some information. ‘’
He crossed his arms, making you speak faster in nervousness.
‘’ Well, things went wrong. Jungwon stabbed Jake- ‘’ his mouth opened and his eyebrows twitched. ‘’ Then they took Soobin when they left and told me they’ll give me three days. ‘’
‘’ Before what? ‘’
‘’ Not really sure. I think they were threatening to hurt Soobin. ‘’
His tongue poked the inside of his cheek and you cowered away, ready to get yelled at. Again, he stayed quiet. It was a bit different from the first time you’d met him when he was confident and replied rapidly and sharply. Now he seemed to need some time to think over what to say.
Or calm himself. You finally dared to look at him after he was silent for a few minutes and to your horror, you noticed his hands were shaking.
‘’ Yeon- ‘’
‘’ None of this would’ve happened if you just listened to me from the beginning. ‘’
You didn’t raise your voice even if you felt like his harsh words were unfair. There was some truth to them. You could’ve still been friends with Soobin without dragging him into the mess. He nagged you about how little you were sleeping, while he himself looked tired all the time. Yet, his face would light up any time he saw you and he was ready to drop everything to help you.
You didn’t deserve him. Hot tears filled your eyes, making Yeonjun turn blurry. You turned your head away in shame, ‘’ I’ll get him back, ‘’ you mumbled before walking away.
He didn’t stop you. It seemed like you were alone in the fight again. It was then and there that you made the rash decision. Your feet moved on their own, bringing you to another doorstep.
You rang the doorbell and waited. It took some time for the door to be answered. A lot of noises came from the other side but around three minutes passed before someone actually opened it.
A familiar face greeted you, ‘’ You’re here already? ‘’
You nodded, not having any energy to smile and certainly no energy to hear any mocking. Thankfully it was Sunoo who opened the door, with a curious Ni-ki standing just a step away.
‘’ Are you…okay? ‘’ the taller male asked. ‘’ You don’t look so good. ‘’
You were swaying from foot to foot, deeply affected by the conversation with Yeonjun. Your eyes barely grazed over the two boys, they kept wandering aimlessly.
‘’ Will you let him go if I come in? ‘’
‘’ Yes, ‘’ Ni-ki hurried to press out before Sunoo answered.
He moved to the side and you walked in, again without looking back. Hands reached for your jacket and you let them take it off without a fight. One, or both of them put their arms around you, you think it was Ni-ki, while Sunoo held your hand instead.
They lead you through the familiar living room and kitchen, finally ending up in the garden. At the end of the garden, Sunghoon stood by some rose bushes. He raised his eyebrow when he spotted the three of you, a smile tugging at his lips.
‘’ It hasn’t even been three days. ‘’
‘’ I know, ‘’ you weakly said, ‘’ When can I see Soobin? ‘’
‘’ I will take you to him now. ‘’
He turned and Ni-ki and Sunoo let go of you. Instead, you followed Sunghoon who seemed to disappear into the bushes when he took a step forward. You blinked in confusion, not sure what to do. A small scream erupted from you when you were tugged forward by the arm.
On the other side of the bush was an entrance to a bunker. You looked at Sunghoon who gladly boasted, ‘’ We all have a bunker in our backyards, in case enemies come. ‘’
You hummed, obediently climbing down first when he opened it for you. Of course the rich would be saved first in case of an emergency. You scoffed scornfully under your breath.
It was a very big bunker that looked fit for a family like Jungwon’s. The first section was a long hallway and it had different doors which you assumed were bedrooms for every family member and more.
Sunghoon led you through the tight hall into an opening in the middle before the hallways continued. It was a leisure room; beanbags, a pool table, a boxing machine, and even a TV with controllers that Heeseung and Jay were playing with were there.
Jungwon sat a bit away from the other two, on a beanbag in the corner pressed against the wall. He watched them but didn’t engage and because his seat was facing the entrance to the hallway, he was the first to notice you coming.
He looked surprised. His eyebrows raised and his mouth opened when he stood up, ‘’ It hasn’t been three days. ‘’ he echoed what Sunghoon had said.
‘’ I know. I didn’t have anything to do, ‘’ you shrugged casually.
He must’ve thought you were stupid. Heeseung and Jay looked over their shoulders to glance at you briefly and then turned back almost instantly to their game. Jungwon however, crossed his arms and tilted his head, a frown had formed on his face.
‘’ You had nothing to do? That’s it? ‘’
You nodded, determined to pretend like you weren’t about to faint from the fear. It was best to act like you were completely nonchalant and unfazed by what you had witnessed him doing not that long ago.
His frown turned into a joyous smirk, ‘’ Did you go to school? ‘’
‘’ Yes. ‘’
Your head turned when Heeseung chuckled darkly. He didn’t turn around so you all watched his back, waiting for him to say something.
‘’ And? Did you have fun? ‘’ he drawled.
‘’ Yes, ‘’ you said, this time a bit more hesitant.
‘’ Were you expelled? ‘’ Jay chimed in.
You didn’t answer this time, but judging by their shared looks and smiles on their faces, they knew.
‘’ I’ll show you where you will sleep. ‘’
‘’ Sleep? ‘’
You stared after Jungwon who walked down the other hallway. He didn’t stop and say anything, he only turned once he had reached the end and opened a door. You ran there because he looked very impatient.
It was a small room, about the size of a prison cell. It was cozier than one though, with a proper bed and a desk but it didn’t have much else in it. Covers and blankets were on the bed. The walls were blank and empty, void of any personality.
‘’ Why do I get my own room? ‘’
Jungwon seemed amused, ‘’ I guess it will take some while to release Soobin. In the meantime, you’ll be here, with us. ‘’
‘’ No! That was not part of the plan at all, ‘’ your voice got louder.
‘’ Maybe not yours. ‘’
He started stalking towards you, making the only space that was furthest away from him the bed. You crawled back on it, all the way until your back hit the wall. Your hands tried to push him away and even claw at his exposed forearms.
He was still indifferent, only looking down at you after having crawled on top with a dissatisfied look on his face. That same look - like you were just a disobedient child.
He groaned when your foot temporarily had some room to move and you pulled your leg up to knee him in between his legs. It didn’t really have the effect you wanted it to. Instead of pulling away, he knew what you were trying to do and fell forward, putting all of his weight on you instead.
You huffed as you tried to lift him off of you to get away but it was impossible, he didn’t move an inch. Into the crook of your neck, you felt his hot breath on your skin as he laughed. It was followed by a clicking sound and something cold and tight around your wrists.
You moved them but they weren’t able to move very far, something clinked when you pulled them too far away. When Jungwon finally drew away from you and laid on the bed, you realized he had handcuffed you to the bed.
‘’ Jungwon! Uncuff me now you- bitch! ‘’ you growled at him.
He gave you one final look of cockiness and amusement before turning his back on you and ignoring your screams and insults. You kicked against the blankets like a little child and screamed your throat hoarse.
‘’ No, no! Don’t you dare leave me here! ‘’
The only response you got was the sound of the door closing and the key turning in the lock. It stilled you completely. You stopped fighting and relaxed, knowing that energy should be saved for later.
Staring at the ceiling now you began to regret your decision. It was too impulsive and not at all thought through. You hadn’t even considered that they might stop you from leaving. You sighed and closed your eyes, which made your thoughts redirect to Soobin. Why wouldn’t they just let him go? When you imagined him confined to a small room like this somewhere down there, you almost started to cry out of guilt. Whatever they’d ask of you to let Soobin go, you’d do it, without a doubt.
*******
Sometime after laying there and just daydreaming about past memories and the future again, you fell asleep. When you woke up you had no idea what time it was since the room had no windows.
You could hear noises coming from the wall next to your bed so you shuffled closer to it and put your ear against it. The sounds became clearer. Was that someone crying?
‘’ Hello? ‘’
It became quiet. Then, you heard something moving on the other side. A voice made you jump in surprise, ‘’ Is that you? ‘’
‘’ Jake? ‘’ you breathed, ‘’ You-you’re alive? ‘’
He giggled, maybe detecting the small concern in your voice, ‘’ Yes, thanks to you. ‘’
You opened and closed your mouth a few times, not sure what to say. Jake continued talking to take the burden from you.
‘’ I got here yesterday after getting treated at the hospital. They said it wasn’t too bad. ‘’
‘’ Why would you come here after they stabbed you? ‘’
‘’ Well…I thought they had taken you. I wanted to help you, return the favor and stuff. ‘’
‘’ But it didn’t go well I’m guessing? ‘’
‘’ No. Clearly not, ‘’ he said jokingly, ‘’ They didn’t accept me back but thankfully they didn’t kill me either. ‘’
You weren’t sure why you asked the next question or why you even cared, but it was like he made you feel pity for him. Like this wasn’t the same guy that had bullied you.
‘’ Have they been giving you food? ‘’
Jake didn’t see it as you being kind and thoughtful, he thought you were concerned for your own health, ‘’ Yeah. They give us food if you’re worried about that. Water too. ‘’
You hummed, chewing on your lip.
‘’ How will we get out? ‘’
‘’ I’m not sure we will, y/n. ‘’
Neither of you said anything after that. The words felt heavy; enough so that it sent both of you into deep thought. You stared at the ceiling again, there wasn’t much to do in there anyway.
Just then, someone knocked on your door. They didn’t listen for a response and you waited anxiously as it unlocked and was pushed open. Heeseung stepped in with a tray of food and a bottle of water.
Jay peeked in for a moment and then disappeared again, shortly being replaced by the face of Sunoo. You rolled over on your side, feeling horrendously like a zoo animal.
‘’ Hey, princess. ‘’
Heeseung sat crosslegged by the bed and opened the water. Despite your body language protesting, he helped you sit upright and poured water into your mouth. Your eyes drifted from your bully to the tray of food he had placed on the bed.
He snickered when he noticed it and brought it forward. Taking some chopsticks he loaded food into your mouth which you gladly took even though you were dying on the inside from humiliation.
And that was it. Once the food was eaten and the water drunken, he left and locked the room again. You stared wide-eyed at the door after. Were they doing it on purpose? Limiting social interactions to use it as a tool? You would’ve thought they’d be eager to talk to you now that they had you all for themselves, out of sight of everyone else.
Like on the bus, you remained between sleeping and being conscious again; occasionally turning your head towards the wall where Jake was on the other side and then staring at the door.
The next time the door opened, you assumed it was nighttime. Jay had been the one tasked with giving you food and water instead of Heeseung, but you still saw Sunoo in the background. He came in fully and sat on the foot of the bed. His eyes carried compassion and guilt in them, which were trained on you the whole time you let Jay feed you.
‘’ What time is it? How long have I been here? ‘’
You tried initiating a conversation to test your theory of them purposefully avoiding talking to you for too long. Jay stopped his movements. He looked annoyed and almost glared at you.
‘’ Hours. ‘’
‘’ How many? ‘’
You were ignored. Not even begging silently to Sunoo helped you. He stood up which caught the attention of Heeseung and Sunghoon who had now also joined your room, although only in the doorway.
At the sound of shuffling footsteps behind him, Jay’s head snapped around. Sunoo stared back, a fearful expression on his face as he met the slight glare his friend directed toward him.
Their temper had always been short when it came to Sunoo. No one got scolded or watched as closely as he did. He never contributed anything to plans, he was more dragged along and forced to submit.
‘’ Where are you going? ‘’ Heeseung’s low voice warned.
He felt uncomfortable under the spotlight. All of you had your eyes on him, watching him closely; inspecting him, maybe even judging him. A grimace took over his fear, he instead felt rather pathetic.
But at the same time, Sunoo had more reason to be afraid of them now. They had killed Jake for stepping out of line, and he was terrified they’d do the same to him.
‘’ I-I was just- ‘’
‘’ Just leave, ‘’ Sunghoon waved him off, and the almost disgusted scowl on his face was hard to miss.
You released the breath you didn’t know you’d been holding in when he turned back again. What did they want? And what were they going to do? Not knowing was somehow worse than if you knew they would hurt you next, at least then you could prepare. It reminded you of the gym, that first time they had pressed the hot iron against your skin.
You had no clue what would happen when you walked into that room, similar to how you’d felt when you walked into Jungwon’s house, and every single time they stepped into your room so far.
Do they want to talk this time, taunt you, just see you, make a deal, kiss you or is this the time they take it one step further? Those were anxious thoughts that always filled your head when almost all of them had gathered now. At this point, it almost immediately kicked your fight or flight in when you heard the lock turn; just like Pavlov’s dog, you had been trained to recognize the sound and your body reacted autonomously.
‘’ Hey. ‘’
You raised your hung head and looked at Jay. The two of you seemed to try and read what was on the other’s mind, but you had no luck.
‘’ Do you not want to see Soobin? ‘’
A humorless scoff left your dry lips, ‘’ He’s not dead yet? ‘’
His eyebrow raised, your reaction was quite unexpected. You sounded exhausted, almost like you had given up already. It was a shame, they hadn’t even toyed that much with you yet.
‘’ Do you wish he were? ‘’
‘’ No, ‘’ you firmly pressed out through clenched teeth.
‘’ Then you better be on your best behavior, ‘’ he smirked before standing up.
You watched through the corner of your eye how he walked away with the others and relaxed when the sound of the door closing echoed.
You began to think less and less that they would let either of you go. Despite their fathers being close, Soobin’s dad wouldn’t have anything to say if his son came in between his boss and the company’s future.
Time was running out in all ways. The election was fast approaching, on top of all the other things that were burdens for you.
*******
A lot of time had passed until you opened your eyes again. You assumed you had been sleeping because you couldn’t remember what you had daydreamed about. What had woken you up was a lot of noise on the outside.
The more you were waking up and shaking the grogginess off, the louder and clearer the sounds became. They were shouting and you could hear thuds, sounds of furniture moving and banging.
You sat up straight. Footsteps approached your door. With your heart in your throat, you stared and waited. It went quiet, then the lock slowly clicked; with a creak, it was pushed open. You almost pressed your eyes shut out of fear but didn’t have time.
‘’ Yeonjun? ‘’
‘’ Hey. Sorry I was late, ‘’ he casually said, ‘’ Sunoo told me where you were. ‘’
You were about to say something else when a stranger pushed past him. More people poured in, shining their bright lights at you so it took some time to adjust to it. You heard what sounded like a radio, and your head snapped up.
‘’ You’re here to help me? ‘’ you choked out.
They looked down at you with polite smiles. One of them helped uncuff you and get you on your feet. You followed them wordlessly out of the room. When they led you past Jake’s room you couldn’t help but glance in.
He was sitting up on his bed and people were helping him too. He saw you and grinned widely, looking like a little puppy.
‘’ Soobin? ‘’ you looked back at Yeonjun who was following you.
‘’ He’s safe. He was in one of the rooms near the entrance, ‘’ he assured you.
The area you had been in just a few hours ago was completely destroyed. The TV had fallen and the chairs and tables on the other side had been knocked over.
‘’ Where are they? ‘’
Yeonjun couldn’t hold back the smirk that spread on his face, ‘’ You’ll see. ‘’
You frowned and climbed up the ladder, wondering what he was talking about. As soon as you were out, you had your answer. All six of them were being led away in handcuffs by police officers in the same uniform as the ones escorting you out.
Your group waited for your bullies to leave so you let your eyes wander while standing there. It didn’t seem like there had been an altercation above the bunker so they must have all been below ground.
Next, you turned and your heart almost stopped. Two people stared back at you, both equally as taken back and so moved by seeing you that they had tears in their eyes. You ran over there, straight into his arms.
‘’ Are you okay? ‘’ you mumbled into his chest.
He sniffled and laughed. You only cried harder, knowing how much you had missed hearing that laugh.
‘’ Yes, I’m okay. Are you? ‘’ he pulled away to look at you, and seemingly satisfied he pulled you in to hug you even tighter.
‘’ Hey, asshole. When is it my turn? ‘’
Soobin rubbed the back of his neck and you saw his cheeks turn red before he released you. Yena had never looked that animated before. She was beaming and had even let the tears drop shamelessly.
You returned her smile and hugged her carefully. Her hold around you tightened and you felt her chest heave. You rubbed her back soothingly and cried too, mostly because you felt sorry that hadn’t believed her.
You both pulled back after some time and wiped your tears. She genuinely looked like she loved you. You felt like you had to say it, ‘’ I’m so sorry, Yena. ‘’
Her eyes narrowed, ‘’ No! Do not apologize. ‘’
You laughed and accepted defeat because she genuinely looked really angry like she wanted to punch you for even uttering those words or thinking them.
A hand touched your arm. You turned around, knowing who it was already. A shy Jake greeted you, his anxious eyes darting to Yena and Soobin several times.
‘’ Hi, ‘’ he sheepishly said.
‘’ Hi. ‘’
‘’ I just, um- ‘’ he looked really uncomfortable so you gave him a reassuring smile which seemed to relax him a little bit.
‘’ I want to apologize for everything. ‘’
You blinked at him.
‘’ What? ‘’ you all three said in unison.
‘’ Well…I don’t want to blame the others. But I think being in that environment with really bad people influenced me. I’m not perfect, which is why I want to apologize so hopefully I can change, and become better.’’
‘’ I- oh, that’s nice. Thank you. ‘’
He nodded and laughed a bit awkwardly. Trying to move past you he was stopped as you pulled on his sleeve. You weren’t sure if you were making a mistake you’d come to regret. However, you said it anyway,
‘’ We can keep in touch if you want. ‘’
Now it was his time to blink at you in bewilderment, ‘’ What? Are you sure? ‘’
‘’ Yeah. I might move away from the city anyway. ‘’
You handed him your phone which he stared at for a few seconds before he seemed to snap out of it. He gave it back and this time he had a genuine smile on his face as he left. Yena and Soobin immediately ran up to you.
‘’ Are you crazy? Why would you do that? ‘’
‘’ I don’t know, ‘’ you groaned, ‘’ Trying to give people a second chance? ‘’
Soobin shook his head, ‘’ What would you do without me? ‘’
You laughed loudly and hugged him again. Pressed against his chest, you soon pulled away slightly to look up at him.
‘’ Soobin? ‘’
‘’ Yeah- ‘’
His words were knocked right out of his mouth as you stood on tiptoe to press your lips against his. Yena squealed with joy and gasped when she noticed. There was so much love, so much desperation and yearning in that kiss you had waited so long for. When you both looked at each other, he was glowing with happiness, he could feel what you were trying to tell him.
*******
Yeonjun had explained it about a thousand times since you left Jungwon’s house that night. However many times he kept doing it, it was still surreal to you and Soobin. What he had done once you left was quite simple, but not something any of you had thought about before.
He went to social media and the press. Turned out your bullies thought you’d never go online with it all because it was too big of a thing, they probably only thought that if you did that you would write some letter exposing the bullying. Those that released letters like that never gained much attention, they were always buried under the other hundreds of letters.
And if they thought you’d attempt to go on social media with the scandals of the company abusing their staff and being corrupt; they assumed you would post it, and they’d track you down before it gained traction.
Yeonjun was smarter than that. He went anonymous and made sure he couldn’t be traced at all. With his hacking, he released the most important files - the photos, texts, and evidence that were the most important. He had organized them when you all thought he was locked up in his room because he was distressed. No, that had only motivated him further, pushing him to his limits to get revenge for his friend.
It took a lot of time for it to get attention on social media, so he copied and sent it to every news outlet he had done research on that wasn’t connected to the company. Naturally, they freaked out. They tried looking everywhere for Yeonjun, but he wasn’t at home.
It was crazy, something out of a movie almost. You felt so lucky that it took off online the way that it did because it was a bit of a luck game. Some must’ve tried the same things you did, but it never got highlighted.
You suppose this was the universe’s way of giving back to you after so much pain and misery. All the fighting, tears, and work for the revenge you so badly wanted to get; had not been in vain.
You leaned your head back against the seat in the car after Yeonjun had retold his story again. He said that the evidence led to a warrant for their arrest and that they were being detained while they investigated.
*******
The sounds of heels clacking against the marble floor echoed down the hallway. You already knew who they might be, the mothers of your bullies. So you made a run for it, scared that they would confront you.
Escaping into one of the corridors to the side that led to smaller courtrooms, you pressed yourself against the wall while holding your breath. The heels went past you and then disappeared completely.
Soon, you started to hear two voices. It sounded like an older male and…You leaned closer, the voice became clearer. It was your lawyer that you had recently hired in case your bullies or the company tried to get back at you. In hushed voices, they angrily conversed.
‘’ You said you could wrap this up. ‘’
Your lawyer released a short, tired sigh and you could almost picture him rubbing his nose out of frustration.
‘’ I would’ve been able to if they didn’t take it to the media. With everyone’s eyes on us, I can’t do much, people have protested! You’ll have to accept the punishment. ‘’
Silence filled the area for a short period. Then a low hum sounded from the older male. You suspected he was from Jay’s dad’s company from what they were saying. It meant that your lawyer was affiliated with them. You rolled your eyes - of course, your luck would have it that way.
But at the same time, it didn’t seem to matter. The lawyer couldn’t soften the blow of the angry citizens and keyboard warriors at home, nor could they dodge the bullets of the workers’ unions that demanded a punishment. Jungwon wouldn’t get quite the same punishment the company would, so maybe they were talking about that and not why you were there today.
‘’ And the girls? ‘’
You straightened up and swallowed thickly, almost choking on air when you were mentioned.
‘’ I’m not sure what will happen to her. She hasn’t asked for the case to be reopened. ‘’
Your eyebrows knit together. Reopened? They weren’t talking about you. Who were they talking about? Shuffling closer to the voices as they became even more cautiously hushed, you hoped that they would explain it further or at least say enough for you to decipher it yourself.
‘’ I probably won’t have to worry about that then. We paid them a great deal. ‘’
‘’ And even if she went through with it, she wouldn’t have gotten much justice, ‘’ your lawyer filled in.
You waited with bated breath for them to continue, but a long time passed with neither of them saying anything. Then you heard the sound of shoes moving and you hurried to turn the corner, your heart beating loudly in your chest.
‘’ Miss? ‘’
You froze. Turning around, you could only assume you looked like a deer caught in headlights. It was evident that you had heard something you weren’t supposed to. Your lawyer stepped away from the older male and put a hand hovering against the small of your back to make you move.
The two of you walked back to the courtroom, and immediately after retaking your seats outside it, he questioned you.
‘’ What were you doing? ‘’
You bit your tongue, ‘’ I was just resting and I…accidentally heard you. ‘’
He hummed and put his arm to rest behind you on the bench. It served its purpose. Intimidated, words slipped out of your mouth without him having said much.
‘’ I-I didn’t hear much. I swear! ‘’
He looked disappointed, but also amused; a small smile played on his lips. He leaned in and this time it felt much more intimate.
‘’ Are you going to tell anyone? ‘’
‘’ No, ‘’ you shook your head vehemently, ‘’ But…who were you talking about? ‘’
‘’ Sunghoon and Jay. ‘’
Your eyes widened and he looked equally surprised when studying your face and seeing that you had no idea what he was talking about.
‘’ Didn’t you get the files? ‘’
‘’ Yes? ‘’ you said in a small voice.
Maybe Yeonjun had left that detail out.
‘’ The reason they were at the police station was to pick up a report that was filed against them by their former girlfriends. ‘’
‘’ Why? ‘’
You had a bad feeling in your stomach, and you could’ve probably guessed right then and there what it was about. It was just hard to imagine those two in particular doing something so heinous, so evil.
Then again - they were friends with Jungwon, the devil himself and evil reincarnated. You supposed it takes one to know one and they were all bad in one way or another.
Your lawyer licked his lips, glanced back to see if anyone else was around, and then casually whispered, ‘’ Domestic violence. ‘’
‘’ Wha- ‘’ you felt at loss for words.
‘’ It was dismissed, naturally because of their connections. They had photos and texts but it was all swept under the rug. ‘’
‘’ How is that even possible? ‘’
‘’ Money is power, miss. ‘’ he looked away, but his smirk was still visible, ‘’ It can do anything you want it to. ‘’
‘’ That’s immoral. ‘’ you angrily burst out, quite loudly.
Immediately a hand found its way to your thigh, warning you to keep your voice down.
‘’ That’s life, ‘’ he bit back.
His attention was turned to the front again, firmly letting you know he was done talking. You almost felt like a kid around him, despite your ages not being that far apart. You obeyed him, but with a sour taste in your mouth, he reminded you of someone.
‘’ The break is over. Court is in session again. ‘’
People moved into the courtroom. You kept your head down, but could almost predict that Jungwon and his lawyer brushed past you in that moment. When the last few people went in, the guards closed the doors and the sound of it echoed in the silence.
‘’ What do you think the ruling will be? ‘’
He ticked his tongue. You were sure he already had an answer despite not giving it right away. Maybe he was sparing you the pain for a bit longer.
‘’ I think it won’t be a harsh punishment. ‘’
‘’ But, he will go to prison, right? ‘’ he didn’t answer, ‘’ Right? ‘’
‘’ There’s nothing I can do to change it, miss, ‘’ he explained calmly, ‘’ The others were already just put on probation for the kidnapping charges. This is how it works with Chaebol families. ‘’
‘’ He killed someone! ‘’
He glared at you, and your voice quietened down a bit. However, It didn’t do much to quieten the anger you felt inside.
‘’ They will claim it’s involuntary manslaughter, maybe even spin it into negligent homicide. ‘’
‘’ Manslaughter? That must be prison time. ‘’
‘’ Most of the time, you can pay a fine, especially when you’re a first-time offender and a rich, well-known person like Mr. Yang. ‘’
You sighed and your whole body slumped down in the seat. Doubling over you buried your face in your hands and almost tore out pieces of your hair.
‘’ I don’t understand… ‘’ you mumbled to yourself, over and over.
Your lawyer looked at you with pity. But he was quiet. From time to time he went from looking at you with concern, to checking his watch curiously.
You weren’t sure how much time had passed before the door finally opened again. The people were unusually quiet, so you almost missed them passing by. You only noticed when heaps of shoes passed by right in front of your field of view.
‘’ Y/n, the trial is over. ‘’
Slowly you raised your head, ‘’ What was the verdict? ‘’
‘’ I’ll go check. Stay here. ‘’
He stood up and pushed past the stream of people. Close to the entrance, he stopped by what looked like Jungwon’s lawyer from where you were sitting. A visible grin spread on the man’s face, and when your lawyer turned to you, you already knew you wouldn’t be happy with the news.
‘’ No jail? ‘’ you said defeatedly.
He sighed, ‘’ No jail. He just has to pay millions in fines. ‘’
‘’ That’s nothing to a guy like him. ‘’
‘’ At least he and the other guys have been suspended. Are you still going to go to that school? ‘’
You hadn’t thought about that since you yourself got suspended. What you wanted most maybe seemed like something out of a fantasy - to run away to the countryside and finish school there with Soobin, away from the city and the places that only brought forth bad memories.
Your dad would most likely never accept that. But you had considered cutting all ties with him anyway, so it didn’t really matter. If you didn’t live too far out, you could still go and visit your mom every weekend and walk around at the places you actually liked.
‘’ I would suggest you move, miss. ‘’
‘’ Why? ‘’
‘’ Although they have been disciplined and they no longer have the same power they used to because of the company having fallen apart, it doesn’t mean they won’t give up on you. ‘’
‘’ I think they will now. They have lost a lot. ‘’
‘’ Take my advice. I’ll stay in touch, ‘’ he said and then stood up.
You gave him a rather sad smile, but it still carried a lot of gratitude and had more lightness to it than the previous fake ones you had given him in the beginning. You supposed this was as much justice as you and the other victims would get. It wasn’t much, but it was something.
More and more people passed by, unnoticed by you. Remaining glued to the bench you kept thinking over your future.
*******
6 months later
You shared your thoughts with Soobin about what you wished life after the storm would look like. As always he fought hard to make your wishes come true. He brought you out to his aunt’s house in the countryside and promised you shelter there for as long as you needed.
Going back to the city hadn’t happened many times. Mostly because after you had moved out there, tragedy had struck the peace, disrupting it once again. You almost burst into tears any time you thought of your mom. They had called, telling you that she had passed away. The timing was suspicious, to say the least. Soobin had been there to comfort you after everything; after the confirmation, the funeral, and whenever you felt like your heart was breaking.
But, you knew your mom was at peace now. The crying had become less frequent when you realized this. Free from feeling like a burden on her family, and free from the hold your bullies had over her.
Maybe you could’ve seen it coming. That if you fought back, they’d remove your mom like a piece from a chessboard.
All in all, you had started to feel happy. You took everything day by day, and gradually it got easier. The stress you had felt from living in the city, constantly harassed and bullied by them, and also under surveillance had disappeared. You felt lighter, looked more radiant. Looking back at it you’d been living in constant survival mode. Therefore it felt a bit weird that you were free now.
You and Soobin were sitting on the train for your first trip into the city in a long time. Summer was fast approaching. As you stopped seeing your bullies, the scars gradually stopped itching. You didn’t care about the stares you’d get when out in public, you freely wore short-sleeved shirts. Soobin was always there to hold your hand or distract you by saying stupid stuff whispered into your ear when he saw them.
And when you turned to him, everyone else disappeared.

Hey my loves, if you made it this far woww ur crazy bc this is really my longest chapter and written thing on this blog I think I’ve ever done??!!
Now, this chapter might be confusing or disappointing which is why I’m here to explain it to ease at least some of y’all’s minds (I hope)
First Jake - yes, I did ‘’ revive ‘’ him lol, or decide to not kill him even tho I had planned otherwise, after everyone’s opinions changed. It’s honestly super interesting to see how people’s opinions can change just like that, because of one chapter, one scene and & perspective change, super cool!! Some of you will probably believe he’ll have a full character redemption arc and some still hate him and alwaysa will, never believing a guy like him will change.
Yena, now Yena’s interesting. I always struggled with her character. Do I make her actually betray y/n or not? Do I make her die (bc yes I was very adamant on one of them dying, even Yeonjun was considered, after heroically saving his brother and the girl he liked, he’d die thinking of his friend LMAOO). In the end I settled on her warming up to y/n which I personally found was pretty sweet since before meeting her she was literally a copy of her brother - cold, dark and mean.
Also, at the end I did reveal a pretty big thing abt Sunghoon & Jay. I know the placement is weird and so is the random scene where I bring Jiyun in (maybe?) in all honesty I had forgotten abt her lol and I had also forgotten abt the dirty secrets those two were hiding. That’s why it got crammed in at the end bc I already had my set scenes I wanted to write.
The conclusion might frustrate some, I get that. My simplest explanation is that they were in reality just a bunch of high schoolers. They weren’t some evil masterminds and I think that makes it more realistic. They were spoiled kids who expected their parents to clean up after them every time and thought they were untouchable that’s why the taunted y/n and Soobin by handing them the evidence right in their hands. DUMB !!! In the end though, the punishments they got didn’t make it as ‘’ easy ‘’ as them finding her and the whole thing going down at the end did.
I do believe she got a happy ending even tho it definitely didn’t seem like it with her mom dying and her barely getting any justice lol. But I guess again, it’s a matter of perspective. What she wanted most maybe wasn’t revenge, but freedom that she had always craved. Plus, their jealous assess probably see it as revenge bc she got swept off her feet by Choi Soobin himself.
I love open endings, although this was only a ‘’ semi-open ‘’ ending. Maybe some of you think, like I pitched at the end that they will try to follow her and not give up. Others, would think they’d let her go no matter how painful it’d be - could they perhaps find a new obsession in the city instead?
And also I would say that although my masterlist says ‘’ heavily inspired by ‘’ I only think it ended up being a little inspired by but yeah can’t change it now lol so sorry if u were expecting my girl to pull off such moves like the mc did in the glory.
If you read this far (again) I love you, & even if you didn’t read this whole chapter bc it’s a LOT or you still felt the ending was poopie bc I’m a student who rushes things - thank you, from the bottom of my heart ! I’m excited to see what new projects I will want to do <333

pepper & felix
part six
Pepper learns more about his soulmate. word count: 2.4k
“So— you’re gonna go sing in a room with a bunch of strangers, and then they’re all gonna decide if they like you or not?” Pepper stared at Felix, bewildered.
It was late at night. Pepper sat on the back of Felix’s couch, while the human was seated sideways— allowing them to face each other and remain around the same eye level. A movie was playing on the television, but the pair of them had since forgotten it, chatting absentmindedly.
After Pepper’s dreadful ordeal with Basil, he had spent the evening with Felix, eating dinner with him (some kind of pasta that Pepper was thrilled to try) and watching two movies, neither of which he quite understood but still enjoyed. Even though he had declared his trust for Felix on a whim earlier, he couldn’t bring himself to be carried yet, and had insisted on walking from the kitchen to the couch himself. Felix, the kind man he was, had kept a respectful distance all night.
He seemed to have noticed Pepper’s uneasy, miserable behavior from the beginning. The borrower couldn’t stop thinking about Basil… but it was easier to shove the thought of her away every time he focused on the man across from him, twenty times his size.
“I mean— kinda?” Felix rubbed at the back of his neck, laughing in a quick exhale. “The judges are trying to find someone to play this specific role. So there might be dozens of guys auditioning for the same part, and the judges are just gonna pick one of us for the cast.”
Pepper hummed thoughtfully. “Okay… yeah, that makes sense. I think.” He furrowed his brow. “And— your auditioning is tomorrow?”
“Audition,” Felix corrected. “And yes, in the evening. It shouldn’t take too long.”
“When will you know if you get the cast?”
The human tilted his head, thinking. “My school usually only takes a couple days to cast things. So… maybe a week?”
“Are you nervous?”
“Hell yeah,” Felix responded dryly, and Pepper laughed. “I’ve done a few shows at my university, but I don’t usually get any big parts. I’m a junior now, so maybe it will help that I’m an upperclassman.”
At Pepper’s confused frown, Felix began to explain the concept of class standings, and the borrower nodded, pretending to understand. Humans’ lives were way too complicated than they needed to be.
Still, it was interesting to hear about Felix’s life. Pepper had only known him as “the human who sometimes left this apartment” for a year, and he was excited to actually learn where he went all day.
He briefly thought of Basil, and his stomach twisted, knowing she would be furious if she knew where he was right now. But— Felix had proven himself time and time again to be respectful and kind, and Pepper had done the best he could to explain that to Basil.
She said she needed time to think, he reminded himself. She didn’t ditch you forever. Hopefully she’ll come around.
“What about you?” Felix asked curiously. “What do you do for fun?”
Pepper blinked at him. Borrowers weren’t known to have a lot of hobbies; most of their time was dedicated to just staying alive.
“For fun?” Briefly, his gray gaze dropped to his jacket— a baggy, blue material that he had cut from an old bandana. “Well, I like to sew. I just finished this jacket, I’m really proud of it.”
He lifted his arms so that his small jacket was easier for Felix’s eyes to focus on. Felix blinked, and he briefly opened his mouth like he was about to say something, but decided against it. “That’s really cool,” he praised. “You made that whole thing?”
“Yep.” Pepper nodded, beaming. He didn’t usually have the opportunity to brag about his accomplishments to anyone. “You’d be surprised how much old fabric you can find lying around. Old headbands, bandanas, gloves… especially in the laundry room, down the hall. That’s where I get most of my fabric.”
Felix’s expression was open, bright with interest. His curiosity about Pepper’s life wasn’t a secret to either of them, and for once Pepper wasn’t totally afraid to tell him about it. “I spend a lot of time sewing. It’s calming, and you get something out of it that you can use later. Win win.”
“That’s really interesting,” Felix said honestly. He leaned sideways against the back of the couch, watching Pepper, and Pepper suddenly felt as if he was being admired under a human’s gaze rather than scrutinized. “I am not crafty at all. I wouldn’t survive a day if I was your size.”
Pepper smiled, amused by the thought of Felix borrowing. “You think so?”
Felix laughed. “No way, man. I would be exhausted after climbing all day, but you didn’t even break a sweat earlier. And I have no clue how to sew.”
“Honestly, a lot of borrowers don’t know how to sew,” Pepper offered. “But climbing, yeah… that’s kind of a necessity. You’re out of luck.” He snickered, feeling strangely powerful over the human twenty times his size.
Felix laughed with him for a moment, before hesitantly glancing over Pepper. “Borrowers?” He echoed softly, tilting his head. “Is that what your kind is called?”
Pepper’s small heart lurched, and in that moment he remembered that he was talking to a human. Suddenly cautious, he chewed his lip. “Oh… uh, yeah.” He glanced left and right, as if someone might jump out and yell at him for being a traitor to borrowerkind.
To his relief, Felix’s features softened. “Gotcha. Another secret, I assume?”
“Yeah,” Pepper said, and it almost felt laughable. “Yeah, so no blabbing.” He pointed a dramatic finger at Felix.
This was… strange, but comfortable. Pepper was very out of place in this apartment, perched on the back of a couch while speaking with a human twenty times his size… but deep down, he knew that he was safe. Felix had had so many chances to hurt him over the past week, but the human hadn’t taken advantage of any of those. Despite being the size of his finger, Felix treated Pepper like a person.
After twenty more minutes of chatting quietly, the credits rolled on the movie, gentle music playing. Felix pursed his lips, checking the time on his phone. “I should probably go to sleep soon,” he said, almost apologetically.
Disappointment squirmed into Pepper’s stomach, but he acted casual. “Yeah, no worries. You’ve got to be well rested for tomorrow.”
Felix sighed heavily. “I’m so nervous. I probably won’t even sleep at all tonight, let’s be real.”
Pepper laughed, pulling himself to his feet. He stretched his small arms over his head. “I’ll stop by tomorrow before you leave,” he promised suddenly. “So I can wish you good luck.”
Felix’s eyebrows raised, genuinely surprised. “Oh— thank you!”
“Yeah.” Pepper beamed up at him. His heart was racing, but it wasn’t out of terror anymore. No, this was a different feeling. “Alright, you get to bed. I’ve got a long walk ahead of me.” He yawned briefly into his sleeve before pulling his hook out, latching it onto the back of the couch.
Felix’s blue gaze lingered on the borrower, fretful, and Pepper knew that the human was struggling not to offer his hand to help. For a moment, Pepper wasn’t entirely opposed to it.
But that— that would be too far. Sure, he could spend the night with Felix laughing and talking, but placing his life into the human’s hand was another thing altogether. That would be transferring all of his power over to Felix. The thought was daunting.
“Okay,” Felix said finally, voice light. “Good night. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Pepper sent him a wave as the human paced off to his bedroom, shutting the door with a gentle click. He watched the door for a long moment, mind wandering, before he pushed it all away and began sliding down the thread of his hook.
As his feet hit the floor, a voice entered his mind— the same voice he had just been speaking with five minutes ago.
“Hey soulmate— I don’t know if you’re still awake, but I just wanted to say good night. I watched some movies with a friend and now I’m gonna go to sleep.”
A smile crossed Pepper’s face, and he clasped his hands against his chest. “Hey— how did that go?”
“It was great,” Felix said, voice warm. “My friend is a little shy, so I was surprised when he asked to stay over, but he turned out to be really funny and sweet. I really like him.”
Pepper’s heart swelled, and for a single moment, he wondered if he should tell Felix everything.
…tell him that he, too, had had a wonderful evening.
…tell him that he had just spent the evening with his soulmate.
However, he only clasped his hands tighter and said, “I’m glad you had a good time! I’ll talk to you before your audition tomorrow. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, soulmate.”
The idea came to Pepper just as he woke up. He immediately shot it down, shocked that he would even consider such a possibility.
He ignored it. He ate a bit of a grape and a cracker for breakfast, then spent the rest of his morning stitching up the leg of a pair of pants. He held it up in front of him, examining his work, and briefly thought back to his idea. He scoffed. It was an insane idea. He would never do that.
But… the idea didn’t leave his mind all afternoon. He rethreaded his hook with stronger, more durable thread. He went for a walk. He spoke telepathically with Felix, encouraging him about his audition (feeling strangely as if he was the one playing a character). He scribbled his anxious thoughts into his journal. And yet, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.
So, with a stomach filled with ice and a burst of adrenaline, Pepper approached Felix from behind the toaster. The human glanced over at him, holding tight to his mug of tea. “Oh, hey, Pepper.”
The borrower swallowed. “I want to go to your audition with you.”
Felix laughed for a moment, but he stopped immediately at Pepper’s firm expression. His blue gaze scanned the borrower’s form, eyebrows arched in confusion, as if Pepper might jump up and say, “Psych!”
“What?” Felix finally asked, baffled.
“I want to go with you,” Pepper explained, anxiously fumbling with his hands. “For… for support. As long as no one sees me, it should be fine.”
Felix was silent, and the borrower flushed, taking a step back. “Nevermind, this is stupid, I don’t know why I—“
“No, no, it’s okay,” Felix said hurriedly, and Pepper paused. “I don’t think that’s stupid. I think it’s sweet, actually. But, you… you’ve never wanted to be picked up before. This just doesn’t seem like something you would want to do.” He blinked nervously, peering closer at the borrower.
Pepper forced a smile, rubbing his arm. “Yeah, yeah. I know. If I’m being honest, I’m pretty fucking terrified right now.” He dragged a hand through his hair. “But… I think this might be good for us.”
Felix’s eyebrow arched. “What?”
“You know, like, our friendship,” Pepper said in a rush.
“Gotcha.” The corners of Felix’s lips twitched into a smile, then fell. “You know you can’t come into the actual audition room with me, right?”
“I can just wait outside somewhere.”
“Okay… okay. I…If you really want to do this, then yeah, you can come with me.” Felix took an anxious sip of his tea, thinking. “I’m leaving in twenty minutes. Uh— please let me know if you change your mind before then. Okay?”
“Okay,” Pepper responded, knowing full well that changing his mind was a very real possibility.
As Felix flitted around the kitchen, nervously humming, drinking tea, and speaking with Pepper, the two of them planned out how their day would go. Pepper would sit on Felix’s shoulder on the walk there (“I have great balance, Felix, I promise I won’t fall”), and during the actual audition, Pepper would wait inside Felix’s bag in the lobby. The entire excursion shouldn’t take more than an hour.
When the time finally came to leave, Felix hovered near the counter, peering at Peper.
“I’ve never picked you up before,” Felix reminded Pepper cautiously.
“Yes you have,” Pepper said blankly, and Felix flushed.
“Aside from that,” Felix said, abashed. “So, are you completely sure you want to come? It’s not too late to change your mind.”
“I swear, if I didn’t know any better, I’d think you didn’t want me to come,” Pepper teased, although his hands were trembling. Deep down, he knew he was just stalling.
Felix shook his head, his lips twitching into a smile. After a moment of apprehension he lowered his hand to the counter, palm up, shaking somewhat. “Okay, I’m ready when you are.”
Being faced with the task of placing his fate in another’s being hand was… not pleasant. Pepper swallowed, his gaze locking on the massive hand resting only a few inches away from him. Fingers that outmatched him in size curled in slightly, twitching nervously, each one strong enough to overpower him with one movement.
The borrower stepped closer, heart pounding. He could see the individual ridges embedded into that thick skin. Underneath was a lifeline that stretched up into Felix’s wrist, thrumming steadily with a pulse. Pepper forced himself to take a deep breath, placing a tentative hand onto Felix’s thumb to steady himself. The thumb twitched in response.
A week ago, he had been trapped in this hand, and the bruises had only barely faded. Realistically, there was nothing stopping Felix from snatching him up again, squeezing him tight, or… or stuffing him in a jar, or…
Stop it. Pepper shook his head to clear his mind. This was his idea.
He wanted to send Felix an encouraging smile, but looking up at the massive human would probably only stress him out even more. Pepper swallowed, then placed his boot onto Felix’s palm.
He heard the quick breath from Felix, felt the air briefly move around him. Reminding himself that this was just as scary for Felix as it was for him, Pepper stepped fully onto his hand, holding his arms out to steady himself.
Okay.
This is okay.
He took a few cautious steps forward, wobbling slightly on the plush surface, until finally he had moved to the center of the palm. He held his breath, then sent Felix a thumbs up, unable to bring himself to speak.
“I’m gonna move you to my shoulder now,” Felix warned, and Pepper nodded rapidly.
At the first movement, Pepper gasped, squeezing his eyes shut. The world floated around him like an overbearing, threatening cloud, whispering to him that he was going to be dropped to his death in any second.
But— Felix moved slowly and carefully. Pepper’s eyes peeked open to see the human’s fingers curling up protectively, ensuring that his tiny passenger would not fall.
When Felix’s hand stilled, Pepper looked up, finding himself being held up to Felix’s shoulder. The human was wearing a white button-up, with a thick gray cardigan over it. The knitted material made it easier for the borrower to climb up and sit down on Felix’s shoulder, close to the collar. “Okay,” he exhaled, heart racing. “We’re good.”
The height was the first thing he noticed. Staring down past Felix’s cardigan and long legs, Pepper could see the floor. The only thing stopping him from plummeting to his death was his trust in the moving platform below him.
“Fuck,” Pepper mumbled, inching closer to Felix’s neck. He held onto the white collar with fervor.
“You okay?” Felix asked anxiously. He seemed to have been afraid to speak until this moment, releasing his words in one breath. “You’re not gonna fall?”
Pepper nodded, then remembered that Felix couldn’t see him. “Yeah,” he assured the human, stomach twisting in knots. This was, by far, the most fucked up thing he had ever done in his life.
If Basil could see him now…
Pepper’s stomach went cold, and he pushed the thought away, taking a deep breath. “Alright. I’m ready when you are.”

hahahahahhaha
I'm gonna be incredibly busy this week, so I'm not sure when the next part will be out. I hope you enjoyed this part though!! <3

Hi!
I seem to be the only one who thinks Marisol is here to stay. They can’t just write her off like they supposedly did with Natalia and they seem to be keen introducing new LIs to find a match for Buck and Eddie. They’re at least four or five episodes into filming season 7 and Marisol is still around and has been on set quite a few times. Also Marisol seems to be a good match for Eddie as she’s Latina and they even made sure to show that Christopher’s happy with his dad dating and even went as far as to make him encourage his dad to call her. I think they’re laying the groundwork for a new Diaz family and Chris accepting someone new into his life because it just wouldn’t make sense to keep Eddie single forever. I’m curious to hear your thoughts about my theory.
Also I love your account!
Hello! Thank you for sharing your theory. I don’t necessarily agree with this theory for a few reasons. First the actress was only seen on set once when she posted. She just let us know she will be back for the season by sharing the trailer on her IG story. In order to make it believable, she and Eddie need to have legit chemistry with one another and from what we’ve seen, they’re severely lacking it. Chris didn’t seem excited to me he was just being a good sport and supporting his father. It didn’t scream “Yes we get to be a family together”! To me. And if that is the case, then the show HAS to some how distance Buck from the Diaz boys. Because he has been a part of their family unit for so long now and if they want to make Eddie dating anyone else believable, then they’re gonna have to establish Buck has just a friend they see sometimes and not a second parental figure in Christopher’s life. Like truly make us all believe Marisol is someone he can now trust the most with his son over Buck. All that to say is I still can’t seem to understand how she would even work in the long run. She doesn’t fit in with the whole team and we saw that same thing happen with Ana. Also Eddie doesn’t necessarily have to date a Latina for him to live happily ever after. If they truly do not have plans to make Buddie canon, then the least they can do is have Eddie be with someone who he has a lick of chemistry with and that bodes well with Christopher and the fire fam. I guess we’ll see how Marisol works out but I personally don’t think she’s here to stay. Plus the writers love repeating the same storyline for Eddie so this really does remind me of s5 and the whole Ana thing. Again these are just my own opinions of course. Not saying I’m right or wrong. I just politely don’t agree with this specific theory which is fine bc fandom is all about speculations and theorizing! Thank you for sharing!! 💜

Can you please do 20 with sanji????
Hey, hey! Thank you for sending in your request! I took a little bit of a different route with this compared to some of the other ones I've written, so I hope you like it 💜💜
Finding hope
CW: SFW, gn!reader, fluff, spoilers for Whole Cake Island, reader is a servant for the Vinsmoke family.
Serving the Vinsmokes was anything but pleasant. Their cruelty knew no bounds and staying out of their line of fire wasn't always possible. Having been born into the lower class, there was no chance of ridding yourself of your title. When gossip of the son who escaped his fate caught your attention, you wondered if the same could be possible for you.
Years passed and thoughts of what happened to that boy came and went until mentions of an arranged marriage surfaced. You eavesdropped on them bad mouthing the other member of the family who'd been forgotten about, or rather shoved aside, for the better half of a decade.
Such distasteful language being used on their own flesh and blood sickened you. Although you never met him, you were sure that if his cruel brothers and father hated him so much that Sanji was the nicest of the bunch.
In preperation for his arrival, you were ordered to tidy the room Sanji would be assigned and help tend the kitchen for when the courses were ready to send out. Even though such orders were mundane, you had to take them seriously―even the most minor slipup would result in severe punishments.
When you caught word that Sanji had arrived, you were admittedly curious to find out who he was, even if that meant watching from the sidelines.
Unfortunately for him, such a reunion was treated like a court order―having no say in his own future and imposed with physical force. You stood by idly as he was berated, knowing damn well that you had no ground to interfere. When the tussle between the ill-fated brother and his attackers reached its peak, Sanji stormed off in hopes of distancing himself in any way he could manage.
Trying to salvage the remainder of his dignity, he took his resurfacing trauma to his room and mulled over his future that'd been signed away.
Having witnessed that night's events play out, Sanji easily earned your respect, despite not knowing of him for that long. Though you were strangers to each other, you couldn't help wanting to go after him just to check in on him. There was an undeniable tie you felt to him: the both of you yearned to escape the confines of this wretched castle.
Knocking on his door, you nervously informed him of your presence, "Apologies for intruding, but I wanted to know if you were alright."
Cracking the door open, he was pleasantly surprised to be met with such a tender face. "I appreciate you checking on me, but I'm fine."
Hesitantly calling attention to his wounds, you offered to treat them.
Taking a moment to soak in your kindness, he granted you entry into his bedroom.
Getting a better look at him, his charm still shined from under those bruises. Caring to them with such warmth made his heart melt. He'd been searching for such gentleness since being roped back into this family.
The fluttering in your heart spiked when your gaze met his, suddenly yanking you back to reality―he was of higher status and you were still a lowly servant.
Barley supressing the heat prickling at your cheeks, you were quick to pardon yourself.
Having the realization that you longed for something more just as he did all those years ago, he sympathized with your situation. Placing his hands on yours, his gaze held onto yours with a mutual understanding.
"You don't have to be so... formal," a subtle smile appeared on his swollen face as he returned the comfort you'd given him.
Being given the chance to get to know each other proved to be one of the moments you would forever be most grateful for. When he promised to take you away from there, you put your full faith in him, trusting that he was a man of his word―and thankfully, he was.

Adam X Male Reader. Who's been cheated on, in the past and is slowly starting to trust Adam more as time goes on.
Okay okay okay hear me the fuck out: they both struggle bc both Lilith and Eve left him and they both had something with Lucifer (Eve presumably cheated - in this fic it's implied that both cheated on Adam to spice things up a lil)
There's a darkness at the heart of my love, that runs cold, runs deep
pairing: Adam x male!reader
warnings: language, hurt, cheating (mentioned)
note: not beta read bc fuck you I don't have beta readers
When Adam decided to play a role in your silly little afterlife and you realized that you wanted him in a way that you’ve only ever wanted one person before, the sweet taste of your platonic relationship soured. You had developed feelings for the first man, that you couldn’t deny any longer, but you hated yourself for it - because who were to promise you that he wouldn’t fuck with someone else while dating you like your ex partner had done? The only person who could do so was Adam, yet you had learned the hard way that many promises people made - winner or human didn’t matter - were empty.
They told you what they thought you wanted to hear to simply get their way and while you wanted to trust Adam, and maybe your heart already did trust his sugar coated words, your mind strongly disagreed and doubted every little promise spoken by him - not just by him though, your mind told you that every promise was just a bunch of empty words, that way you were keeping yourself safe, you protected yourself from getting hurt again.
Adam, on the other hand, felt similar. He had been cheated on twice, back in his early days as a human, back when he had blindly trusted Lucifer’s and Lilith’s words, back in Eden when Eve had promised him that she and Lucifer were just friends. But they had been so much more than just that - just friends weren’t fucking each other. The two women that had been created for him and only him had turned against him and chosen someone else, why shouldn’t you do the same? God had never truly intended for Adam to date guys, hadn’t he? Yet you were there and Adam wanted nothing more than to call you his. But surely a person who wasn’t even meant for him would leave him just like the women did that God had created for him. They had been meant to love and desire him, but they hadn't done so. They had crushed Adam’s heart, shattered it into pieces and stepped on the shards until it had been nothing but dust. And then you had been so quick to glue the tiny pieces back together, you had fixed something deep inside of him without even knowing it but there was the risk of losing you again - he told himself that if he’d keep himself distanced, it wouldn’t hurt as much. That was bullshit though and deep down he knew that.
And then there was Lute, she was not only Adam’s lieutenant and best friend, she was also the self claimed couple therapist Adam and you desperately needed. So when the three of you sat in the living room of the house you and Adam shared, and Lute waited for one of you to begin talking, you took that chance, “What if his promises of staying forever and not fucking someone else are empty?” You felt a little bad, voicing your thoughts so harshly with Adam sitting right next to you and you noticed how he flinched a little at your words, how his wings rose a little to hide himself behind them. Lute tilted her head a little, “Why would they?” And to that you had no answer so you remained silent while Adam’s curious eyes were watching you carefully from the side. “I’ve known Adam for a long while now,” Lute continued, she gently placed a hand on your knee and your eyes met hers. There was honesty in those golden orbs of hers, honesty and made your concerns seem so unwarranted. “He has never looked at someone the way he looks at you,” you turned your head towards the first man, the man mumbled something inaudible but nodded - he was not used to being so vulnerable, to talk about his fears openly. “What if he fucking finds someone like Lucifer and decides to fucking drop me like those whores of ex-wives did?” Lute sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose, “Look at him, he’s seen your crybaby tantrums and yet decided to stay - he’s not gonna leave Adam.” And while Lute’s words were true and both of you logically knew that the other wouldn’t cheat because they know what it’s like to be on the other end of it, it wasn’t that easy to change an entire mindset.
It would take a lot of time and work, even more energy to fix the both of you. But you and Adam were willing to work this through. Together, side by side and hand in hand. And maybe one day the both of you wouldn’t have to struggle with that fear anymore, today was not that day though.

I was told by Krirebr to send you an ask with a CE character and a scenario (https://www.tumblr.com/krirebr/734440334834253824/do-it-send-chelsea-asks-itll-be-fuuunnnnnn?source=share). So:
Jake Jensen + "some creep is following me. Please act like you know me?"
-Zombie
Ahhh I looove this…
Tumblr media
So I almost went a completely different direction with this, but I restrained myself…
You stepped out of the high rise building excited to start your weekend. It was finally Friday, and you were going to make the most of your weekend. The only caveat? This feeling you had had all day. Like there was someone watching you.
You quickened your pace as you made your way to the nearest bus stop, which suddenly felt like miles away from your office. Maybe you should stay home instead of going out for drinks with the girls.
You looked over your should as you approached the stop, and that’s when you saw him. He was tall, with broad shoulders and legs that seemed to go on forever. You couldn’t make out much of his face from this distance, since he was wearing a ball cap and sunglasses, but you were sure he was familiar. And he was definitely following you, trying to be discreet, but your guy and your brain knew. This guy was following you.
Changing your mind last minute you decided to duck into a local coffee shop and order an Uber. That way at least this creep wouldn’t be able to follow you home.
As you got in line to order something, you bumped into the man in front of you, “Oh God, I’m so sorry.” It was then a though occurred to you. “Hey I need help, do you think you could do me a favour? I’ll buy you a coffee for you’re trouble.”
The man turned around and you got a good look at him, he was probably around the same height as your creep, but his face had this boyish quality about him that you immediately trusted. He gave you a bashful smile, “For a pretty girl like you, I think I can do that.”
Your face heated at his words. “Some creep is following me. Please act like you know me?”
His face momentarily looked shocked, before you could see his brain shift gears. “I got you.” He wrapped his arm around your shoulders and pulled you into his side. While inconspicuously looking towards the door for said creep.
The two of you made small talk as you waited in line to place your orders. You learned his name was Jake “but everyone calls me Jensen.” He worked in IT in the building next to yours, and you both played a ridiculous amount of Call of Duty. By the time the two of you got to the counter to place your order, you had almost completely forgot about your creep, until Jake nudged you and tilted his head back. After you paid you quickly checked and there he was your mystery creeper.
You both waited for your drinks, placed under Jake’s name fore safety, when he said something that caught you off guard, “I think I should at least take you home, to make sure this guy doesn’t follow you.”
You pause as you think about his request. It seems like the safest way to get home, and Jake seems like a nice guy. It wouldn’t be so bad - would it? You shake your head and laugh as you say, “Yeah you know what, you’re probably right.”
“Great! My cars just outside,” With the the grin that spreads across his face you know you’ve made a good decision and follow Jake out to his car. Your mind far away from the creep who was following you.
It’s only when you’re a few blocks away from your building that you realize…you never gave Jake your address.
Tumblr media
Welp…that kind of ended up where i had visions of it going…

People often assumed that Lily and Oscar were soulmates. Even though it wasn’t polite to talk about, when a couple who meets in school and stays together as long as they have, it usually points to the pair having their names tattooed over each other’s hearts.
Oscar doesn’t correct them. People can believe what they believe and it’s easier than explaining the truth. That Lily has no name over her heart. And Oscar’s soulmate…
Well, Oscar has a relationship with his soulmate that most people don’t understand. They’re his best friend and of course he loves them, they’ve been together for so long and being away from them hurts like a phantom limb.
But Oscar’s love for his soulmate isn’t the same as his love for Lily. Lily is his partner, his confidant, the person who compliments him in every way. He’s been able to trust her since the moment they met and love her less than a year after. Lily is who he chooses to spend the rest of his life with.
His soulmate is the part of his soul that lives outside his body. The one he didn’t choose and can’t get rid of. Not that he’d want to but it was never an option what they were to each other. It just always was.
“It’s rather lucky for someone to meet their soulmate so young,” an interviewer is saying, clearly hoping to get some sort of reaction or insight into his and Lily’s relationship. Oscar’s not guilty that he’s not going to give him any.
“Yeah, it was really lucky,” he agrees, face plain. “But some never meet their’s, so I guess any time at all is lucky.”
The interviewer is forced to move on after that but Oscar is no longer paying attention. He tries to inconspicuously type under the table.
User: They’re asking about you again
It takes a while for the person on the other side to respond, even though Oscar knows they’ve seen it from the brief flash of amusement that floats through his head unexpectedly. His phone buzzes just as he’s leaving the interview and he pulls it out to look.
Loges: well that’s what happens when you’re in a longterm committed relationship
Loges: you really brought it on yourself
Oscar huffs and shakes his head, feeling the edges of a smile creeping up on his face. He types back after he gets in the backseat of the car.
User: we can’t all be forever bachelors mate
Oscar gets to his hotel before Logan responds again. He feels it buzz twice on his way up to his floor. Oscar doesn’t check it until he’s back in his room, spread out lazily on the queen-sized bed.
Loges: shame, it’s so much more fun
Loges: you’re coming over when you’re back yeah?
User: you’re not getting out of losing in Halo that easily
Loges: 😂 in your dreams mate
Loges: see you then 🩵
Oscar sends off his own goodnight before heading over to the phone app. He presses his most recent contact and lets the phone drop on his chest, speaker button already pressed.
"Hey, babe! How has your day been?"
Oscar feels the slight grin he'd been wearing while talking to Logan lengthen even more when he hears Lily's voice.
"Alright. Tell me about your day."
Lily, clearly sensing he doesn't want to talk, immediately falls into a recounting of the day's events from her perspective. Oscar lets the soothing tones wash over him and seep out any leftover tenseness.
People have wondered how Oscar and Lily had kept a long-distance relationship work all this time. The simplest answer was that Oscar had chosen her and would continue to choose her every day for the rest of their lives.
No one had asked how Oscar handled moving up the ranks without Logan, but the answer there was pretty straightforward. He knew even then that no matter what, they would always come back to each other.
People assume that Lily is Oscar's soulmate. He isn't mad that they're wrong.

Ghost A/B/O is Back! Pt.6
I feel like prey again. Flinching at the multiple people in and out of my room. Everything’s too loud. So many people asking the same questions, “Are you okay?” “What happened?” “Did he touch you?” “Did you-“
“Hey, Darling,”
Jacob, after catching wind of the commotion, came to sit in the empty seat next to my bed. “How’re you holding up?”
I sigh. There wasn’t a different answer I could conjure up this time. So I didn’t, “I’m fine.”
There was a silence between us. A lie.
“Look,” Jacob reaches out to grab my hand. I resist trying to pull away, “That alpha won’t bother you again.” The beta looks around us, checking for any listeners before he drops his voice to a whisper, “I can get you out of here.”
I can go back home?
A burst of nervous excitement began to build a flicker of hope in me. A dangerous thing. “Really?”
Jacob chuckled, “Of course. Did you think we’d just keep you here forever?”
I suppose he has a point.
“I just need you to do one thing for me.” His tone raises the hairs on the back of my neck, “Tell them that that alpha touched you.”
I slipped my hand from his, absorbing his serious expression of what he’s asking of me. “But…that didn’t happen.” Another statement I’ve given over and over. “He didn’t touch me.”
There was a pitying smile as he looked at me. As if I was clueless, “Are you sure? You were asleep, weren’t you?”
Something’s wrong.
There was an alarm going off in my head. I get to go home, but only if I ruin the alpha that saved me? “Where’s Ghost?” Jacob must have noticed the shift and saw the questioning in my eyes. He gave another disarming smile, releasing his neutral scent.
“Of course, I know it’s been a long night. I’ll clear out the room so you can get some rest.” The sergeant raised from his seat and patted my shoulder comfortingly. I watched him retreat, starting to talk to the security guards and other staff in the room, herding them out of the room in a gentle suggestion.
Just as the room was almost empty, another visitor arrived. Captain Price.
“Captain, Vic needs to get some rest.” Jacob insisted.
“I know. I won’t be long.” Having been thoroughly dismissed, Jacob and the rest of the staff left the room. The door was not clicked closed, left slightly ajar. Price made sure to approach me at a steady pace and he stayed a respectful distance across the room. “I’ve heard you’ve had a long night,” He chuckled, trying to bring a lightness to the situation. I tried to give a polite smile, but it falls flat. The captain rubs his face, the tiredness becoming apparent the longer you examine him. The tightness in his shoulders. The consistent tapping of his foot. The redness in his eyes. The man hasn’t been back from a mission for 12 hours and he’s been dragged from his rest.
“I’ve known Ghost for a long time.” He begins, leaning against the wall, arms crossed and recounting memories, “He’s been through hell and back twice over. Strong sonofabitch he is.”
I can’t help but interrupt, tired of being treated so softly, “Why are you telling me this?”
It looks as if Price doesn’t know how to answer the question at first, opening his mouth for the words to come and nothing comes out but a sigh. “Simon is  a lot of things. But he is loyal like a dog. One I trust with my life. And it seems,” another sigh as Price rubs his eyes for the nth time, “That same loyalty has extended to you.”
Loyal. Protector. Safety.
The words catch me off guard and send a chill down my back. “Where’s Ghost?”
Price tilts his head, “He’s outside.”
“I want to see him.”
The captain hums and moves to open the door, letting in a large shadowy figure with a black face mask on and a muzzle. It’s the first time I get to see the top of the masked alpha’s face. His eyes crystal blue and short hair cropped blond. A scar peeking out from the mask going up his face. The handcuffs clink softly as he walks in timidly, trying to make his frame as small as possible. As if he wasn’t the strong alpha I’ve seen him to be. I reach my hand out to him and he nearly stumbles coming to my bedside.
A warmth envelops me as he holds my hand. A calm balm soothes everything, my mind going blank for the first time in hours. His thumb begins to caress the back of my hand, “You were having a bad dream.” He begins to explain, “I just wanted to help calm you down. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“I know.” When I saw Ghost, I knew I was just having a bad dream, nightmares to haunt me. But that was after everyone came rushing in, a whirlwind of commotion as I watched my alpha be violently subdued. I take in the bruise under his eye. I know it looks worse than it is, but I can’t help but checking on it, making sure he doesn’t need any more medical attention, “How’s your head?”
A quiet hum came from Ghost, almost like a chuckle. “It’s fine.”
I grumble under my breath, “It’s not fine. They kicked you.” I  outline the bruise with my thumb. Simon preens under my attention.
Another, more confident chuckle, this time, “I’ve done a lot worse than just get kicked, baby girl.” I feel my cheeks get warm, the name holding a softness I haven’t experienced in a long time. And hearing it coming from Ghost makes it sound more like a promise than anything else.

A Blessed Imperfection [1/3]
(submitted by: @/hermosacolibri. all credits go to them, this work isn't mine!)
SYNOPSIS: Many consider your disability as a burden, but he finds a way to make it a blessing in disguise. What makes us flawed is what makes us unique, and that is what he considers the most beautiful thing about you—an imperfection he dearly adores. Nevertheless, he knows of your lingering sorrows and thus seeks a way to support you in the best way he could.
WARNING(S): symptoms of chronic/terminal illness, implications of mental instability, mentions of past trauma resulting to severe injury, possible triggers, panic attacks, sleep paralysis, hallucinations, etc…
CHARACTER(S):
Aether (as Traveler & Abyss Prince), Albedo, Diluc, Kaeya, Venti, Dainsleif
NOTE: I copy-pasted this from my Quotev so if the format turns bad, that’s why lmao. Part 2 will have the Zhongli and Ayato version I submitted with some other characters from the same nations. Part 3 will be Sumeru boys and Harbingers. I will submit them at a later date lol. Anyway, I would like to leave a shameless promo here for those interested in my writing. HERE is my Quotev. For those who wish to read about my collab story here on Tumblr, it is posted by my co-writer: @intothegenshinworld
AETHER is like a star in the abyssal sky, constantly in sight yet far out of mortal reach. He carries the wishes of others, granting them in acts of what shall be seen as miracles or blessings. When time arrives for departure, he shoots across the cosmos with a trail of light that leaves witnesses mesmerized. Alas, he whom was born half of a whole, the name of this Traveler is forever bound to that of another—his dear sister, Lumine. Due to these same ties, he undergoes a quest across Teyvat to find her. The promise of a reunion always uttered by his lips, hopeful and eager yet never taking for granted the steps he took.
The lonely young man is at odds with the world. He could barely trust anyone after some god caused him to separate from his younger sibling. However, this humble Viator continues to treat others amiably in hopes to be treated the same way. From nation to nation, the blond adolescent sought answers from this peculiar world that felt so nostalgic yet still so foreign to him. There are trying moments of grief and frustration, but also blissful days of celebration.
Throughout this path, it was entirely unexpected for him to develop an intimate attachment.
Aether was not a stranger to bittersweet partings, as someone whom has always hopped from one world to another. For this same reason, he and Lumine try not to get too invested in any realm they visit. It was better for them as well as for everyone else that welcome them so affectionately. There must always be a particular distance to maintain, since there can be no guarantee of their stay or return. A deeper tragedy is the knowledge they can easily outlive the dwellers of any world. Witnessing the birth and death of many stars since their youth, the twins have grown rather desensitized to friendships that would not last as long as their lifespan.
That is why this separation hits them where it hurts enough to leave a scar.
Then, there was you.
As a mere mortal in a world governed by gods, you are content to live your life the best way you know. It is a lifestyle that can change at your will. One day, you can be exploring as an adventurer. The next, you are a seamstress earning your keep for the week you plan to stay with the spinsters. Every other month, you do a variety of odd jobs that you have learned throughout your lifetime. As a human, you are most hyperaware that everything can be ephemeral…
…and someday, even your soul shall be relinquished to the judgment of Celestia.
Until then, it is yours to do as you see fit.
For this reason, you felt torn by the Pyro Vision that had been bestowed upon you. While most of your peers seek the blessing of the divine gaze, you have subconsciously sought to avoid it. Many saw it as a gift but you were raised under the notion that most presents come with strings. Earning the “eye of god” meant that you are under Celestia’s watchful gaze, thus binding you to the Heavenly Principles. Their elemental blessings taunt mortals to dare reaching for the stars, and gain a place amongst the divine if they are deemed worthy of it.
Well, you personally believe that only thineself can determine one’s worth—no other, not even the gods.
Nevertheless, you move forward. Keep going on a quest without a destination, as you always do, until this fleeting life comes to its inevitable end.
Needless to say, there is one thing you genuinely did not see coming—
“I am so sorry, Miss!”
—and that was meeting your soulmate.
“It’s fine.” You replied.
Aether scrambles to collect your things while you do the same at a more relaxed pace. Your satchel had become so worn that it took a small bump to finally snap the strap. Now, all your possessions have been scattered across the ground. Fortunately, the blond stranger is a very kind and considerate young man.
Once you got everything, said stranger wasted no time apologizing profusely again.
“I should have been looking where I was walking! It was my fault.”
You tilt your head, “You could just make it up to me and we can call it even.”
His aureate eyes beamed as he nodded with an eager smile. At that moment, you wonder if he is the personification of the sun.
You smiled serenely, “I’m [Name].”
He pauses, a flicker of doubt passing through his gaze. Quick as it came, it disappeared as he smiled back—a tad softer.
“Just call me Aether.”
That day, he bought you a new satchel.
When you were younger, your parents always said that one moment is the same as a thousand—you only need one. It was a proverb that both confused and unnerved you. After they died together due to sickness, the words were haunting as you buried them before leaving your village. Every moment was cherished by you, each one unique in the best and worst of ways. However, as both you and Aether keep crossing each other’s paths after one meeting, a part of you finally thrums to life in understanding.
At one point, Aether even sought you out for a joint commission together.
“Don’t you have a travelling partner?” You asked.
He laughs sheepishly, “He’s a bit busy doing other things. Also…”
A light blush colored his cheeks, looking away as he scratched his nape lightly.
“…I wanted to spend some time with you.”
You found him cute so you agreed.
On that particular day, Aether learned something new about you. It was the little things he had been noting every time you met. The way you sometimes slur even though not a drop of alcohol can be traced from your scent, how you try so hard to keep your emotions under a certain level of control, how your eyes randomly droop even when you always look so adequately well-rested, and the pills he saw you sneak into your meals/drinks—you were ill. Perhaps, it was not the traditional ailment that left you weak and bedridden. The scariest symptom has been the occasional hallucinations that distract you, since the more vivid ones tend to set off your Vision. Anything within a meter radius is either set aflame, or rises up in temperature. It is why you always remind him to keep a certain distance whenever you tend to space out. He never prodded because you gave him the same respect of privacy by never prying into his life, even if he saw the incessant curiosity he adored about you. Still, he looks after you because he had to admit he truly grew fond of you.
Then, on your way home, you just abruptly collapsed as if your entire body went boneless.
“[Name]—!!!”
Aether caught you just in time before your head hit the ground. He checks your temperature for a fever, and then searches for some wounds you might have missed. You have a high pain tolerance, which can sometimes be a disadvantage whenever an injury goes unnoticed. There was a time a scratch almost got infected, or even when you nearly bled out because a poison prevented coagulation.
When he saw no signs, the outlander lifts you up in his arms and calls for the nearest doctor.
Thankfully, nothing was amiss and you just needed to rest while adjusting your diet.
Aether witnessed the true horror of your condition when you abruptly woke up half past midnight. He was already passed out on your bedside, sat on the ground and his head resting on his forearms. The chaise lounge would have been practical, but the blond felt the urge to be near you. At some point, he just dozed off.
On the other hand, you jolted awake with a choked gasp and widened eyes of terror. It was not due to any frightening nightmare. This is just how it always goes every time you wake up: frozen stiff, terrified, and barely breathing. Your pupils dilate as your iris moved wildly to make sense of your surroundings, pointedly ignoring the shadows manifesting into something monstrous. The candle on the nightstand was unfortunately almost fully spent, flickering to its last embers of light. With every dance, the shadows seem to get closer and slithering to get their clawed hands on you.
Alas, the candlelight spares you one last hope of salvation amidst this merciless night.
Sunshine golden hair glowed, emitting a silver halo as moonlight peeked from the half-open blinds. As much as you are able, you desperately crane your neck to see your companion. Tears blur your sight but the silhouette is unmistakable to you. His warm breath blew against your fingers, centimeters away from his lips as he breathed. Chilling goosebumps ran across your skin yet you welcomed it, hoping to regain mobility from this nightmarish paralysis. Your hand twitched, wishing to get ahold of this precious little sun—uncaring if it burns.
If you are to be like Icarus, then you would prefer an end embraced by warmth and light…
…instead of ice and darkness.
Perhaps, pyro suited you for this reason.
Your lips purse, crying in anguish to speak.
“A…Ae…A-Aether…”
To your relief, that seems to be enough to awaken the young man. However, respite is all to brief as your chest seizes up. The mere act of breathing gets difficult, and your heartbeat grew alarmingly slow as it echoed alongside the tinnitus in your ears.
Aether blinks awake, expecting the grace of morning light. Instead, he was met with your agonized gaze in a darkening room. In an instant, he snaps into full attention as he cups your face. You cannot hear him but you can guess that he must be firing questions out of concern.
“[Name], what’s wrong?! Are you in pain? What can I do? How can I help?” He exclaimed.
You gasped and hoarsely coughed.
“C-Can’t…breathe…I…”
The blond quickly thinks back to whenever Lumine experienced minor panic attacks. He assumes this is relatively similar, so he hopes his next actions will help rather than harm. Gently and carefully, he takes you into his arms. Back against the headboard, the new position situates you comfortably on his lap as one arm is secured around your waist. He takes both of your trembling hands with his free one, directing them to rest against his sternum.
“[Name],” he says softly yet firmly, “I need you to focus on me, okay? Focus for me. Hey—”
He catches your frantic gaze around the room and mindfully tilts your head back to meet his stare. They are brimming with steadfast reassurance, not at all deterred by the dark beasts. Your head rests against his shoulder, as you do as he told—closing your eyes to only relish his warmth, consume his scent, and listen to his voice.
“Breathe with me. Inhale, exhale…”
His chest rises and falls, to which you mimic the rhythm in return.
“Feel my pulse, and use it as your center.”
One hand keeps hold of his and the other seeks his heart, obeying the instructions.
The hand connected to the arm securing your back drift to your hair. At that moment, you realize that Aether’s hands are ungloved. Wandering fingers comb through your strands, calming you down with a soothing pet. Little by little, you regain movement in your limbs yet you rest limply—content.
“That’s it.” Aether whispered, “You’re doing great. Just keep repeating the exercise with me.”
“Aether…”
“I’m here. I’ll always be here.”
You wept and sobbed, “Aether…”
“I know.” He murmurs as he cries with you, “You’ve been so strong, [Name]. Everything’s fine. You’re not alone anymore.”
You look up, “Promise?”
He looks back, “I promise.”
The hand on his chest reaches for his white scarf as you pull him down. He obliges as his grip on you tightened, holding you close while your free hands adjust to interlace with each other.
That was the first kiss of many.
Day or night, Aether stood by you. Every battle was fought together. Every quest was finished together, sometimes with his elusive partner named Dainsleif whom was later introduced to you. On the journey to search for his sister, he even renewed his vows.
“When we find her, you can come with us.”
You smile teasingly, “I don’t have world-hopping powers.”
He narrows his eyes at you, unyieldingly headstrong and determined.
“I’ll find a way to bring you with us anyway.”
He raises your hand to his lips with a sly grin.
“You’re not getting rid of me~!”
Aether cradled you in adoration as if you were an endless summer amidst the cold loneliness of his sister’s absence. You beheld him as if he was the sun bringing life to the paradise of your evanescent mortality. The pair of you were thriving happily, hand in hand, even after discovering the truth of this world—and dictating the journey’s end.
Then, your Vision broke mysteriously, and you were condemned to an enchanted sleep.
Aether cursed the divine and all of Teyvat for it. He figured this was his price for learning the truth, but taking you will be their gravest mistake. He severes his ties with Dainsleif, whom tried to console him into taking the righteous path. He viewed you as his friend as well, and he knew you would not want this for your lover.
Now, the Abyss Prince sits by your bed—waiting in forlorn hope. His ungloved knuckles caress your cheek lovingly. You were dressed in a nightgown with abyss colors, outlined by satin ribbons of silver and gold. A crown of inteyvat rested on your head, petals scattered across your spread locks draped over silk pillows. They have grown after the past centuries but he dutifully trims them to an acceptable length.
“Your Highness,” the Abyss Herald called, “it is time.”
Aether paused. His honey gaze hardens and his aura turns cold. He breathes deeply, eyes closed to lean down and leave a chaste kiss on your brow.
“I will return shortly, my love.”
He puts on his gloves, taking leave resolutely.
Even if the sun turns black, you will both find your way back to each other. Even as the moon is painted red, goodbye shall never be an option. Every star in the sky—false or otherwise—shall bear witness to a union that even the Heavenly Principles would dare not destroy. Should this world be torn asunder, the reckoning cannot spell departure for either you or Aether. This is the eclipse that will pave the way to a new world, as the Abyss Order entails.
For if fate can only be accepted, thy vows shath be sworn by royal decree—
“You are my predestined person, the one I will always choose.”
ALBEDO discovered that there is beauty in what the heart perceives which the eyes cannot see. As an artist, he can grasp onto the concept yet is unable to truly understand it since he heavily relies upon his sight. As an alchemist, whatever eludes him may come into being by his own hands and thus enable him to attain it. The pursuit of truth is a mere matter of time and place, preordained even if hidden. As the most prized creation of Rhinedottir, he was given the task of uncovering the truth of this world for himself as a purpose in life. Even if to exist is a sin in the eyes of Celestia, he must endure and keep moving forward to reach his answers.
Amidst such dedicated research, there was little time and effort to be spared for attachments. The Chief Alchemist of Ordo Favonius finds it much too difficult to maintain. Of course, exceptions has been made throughout the years. Aside from his master, he had bonded with Alice and Klee as family. He had also made friendships with his colleagues amongst the Knights of Favonius and his subordinates, whom he taught the art of alchemy. Alas, as an artificial human created by a sinner, he feels as if he can never belong anywhere. Regardless of these bonds, the Kreideprinz feels as if a part of his heart remains hollow.
It came to him that this place was reserved for you, the apple of his eye.
Ever since Albedo met you, a new muse began to live within his heart. People consider it as seeing the world through rosy lenses; but for him, it felt as if everything appeared clearer than facts…
…and it was beautiful.
The sun shines brighter. The wind blows cooler. The grass looks greener. Therefore, life is that much greater and sweeter. He is still in pursuit of truth, yet he felt as if the magnum opus was already in his hands—molded in the shape of you.
His only lament was that you could not see it alongside him.
You were not born blind. It happened from an act of jealousy and unkindness. Before you came to the City of Freedom, you were a noblewoman dwelling in Fontaine and worked as an artist. Much like him, you love to paint and draw but Albedo always argues that you were better at it. He had seen your works long ago, and every single piece has never failed to inspire him. It was as if each painting can bequeath aspirations, letting it blossom from the hearts of the people that view it.
Then, news spread that your entire atelier was set on fire while you were still in it…
…and then, you lost your eyes.
The Hydro Vision in your hand may have been the sole reason you even survived. Many speculated that you can never make art the same way again.
You came to Mondstadt, wishing to break free from the suffocating experience. You struggled to regain your passion, overcome your sorrows.
Then, you met Albedo; and one thing led to another.
It started when you were taking a stroll in Springvale with your guide dog, Vincent. He is a very spirited Golden Retriever, protective and responsible. You both stumble upon a young girl named Klee, whom was busy fighting a bunch of hilichurls. You opted to stand aside and calm your snarling canine friend, petting his head. When your keen hearing detected irregular breathing and racing heartbeat, you realize that the little girl was getting overwhelmed. She must have fought other hoards before your arrival, and now you hear slimes joining the fray. Thus, you order Vincent to keep his distance and engaged.
Sword unsheathed from your walking cane, you attack the ones behind Klee. Her bombs startled you when they exploded too close, but your hydro shield easily deflected any friendly fire. Vapor damage is then redirected to the monsters, tempering the girl’s mines and lasers so your skin will not be singed by the building heat. Vincent was barking wildly like a supportive cheerleader, growling whenever you get nicked or whenever the other girl yelped.
Soon, the fight was over.
The pitter-patters of tiny feet went towards you, and stopped at an arm’s length. You look down, smiling kindly yet not sheathing your blade.
“Thank you for helping Klee!” She chirped.
You chuckle, “You’re welcome.”
Vincent came running towards you, shamelessly  nuzzling your legs. He then licks Klee’s hand in his own way of befriending her, causing the girl to giggle from the ticklish sensation. She hugs him around the neck, and you can only tilt your head in amusement.
“What’s your name, Miss?”
“You may call me [Name].”
The hairs at your nape rose. Although you can see nothing else but darkness, your eyes also snapped open with a dark glower. By instinct, you swung your sword to strike whomever snuck behind you.
A resounding clang echoed in your ears, as metal struck against metal. Another sword has parried yours skillfully yet makes no move to counter.
“Brother Albedo…!” Klee exclaims.
Upon realization that this is no stranger, you swiftly disengaged with a soft apology. The gesture was returned as the man apologized for startling you. To your amazement, Vincent did not seem to be wary of this newcomer. The dog merely barked gruffly, a bit admonishing, instead of growling defensively like he always did.
“You dropped this.” Albedo said.
You hesitantly presented your hand to receive whatever he was giving. A familiar cloth is placed on your palm. You belatedly realized that it was your blindfold. It is a durable silk fabric that kept your burn scars from showing. Your disfigured face has been exposed all this time for Klee to see.
It must have been a horrifying sight—
“Your eyes are very pretty, Miss [Name]!”
Your breath hitched at the unexpected compliment, turning away shyly. As you wore the blindfold again, Klee notices Albedo smiling in awe at you. She put up her hands to cover her mouth and muffle her mischievous giggles.
“I agree.” He murmured.
You nodded, “Many thanks.”
Albedo never told you, but for him, it was love at first sight the moment his eyes met yours. There have been solitary days spent in Dragonspine where he wondered tirelessly:
Would it have been a mutual feeling if you could have seen him back then too?
From then onwards, the mysterious alchemist had turned into a close friend. He acted as a personal pillar of support in unexpected ways. The little ball of sunshine that is Klee turned into a source of lighthearted joy for you as well. They tend to visit your home in the city together, offering gifts and knick-knacks. The habitual meetings resulted into some new friends who helped you settle down in Mondstadt, especially Eula. Her own aristocratic lineage helped you two bond about a lot of things, even when she vehemently rejects hers—which is frankly for understandable reasons. You both share the sentiment that genuine nobility upholds the belief of noblesse oblige above all.
Albedo, most of all, enabled you to regain the love you thought had been lost forever with your sight.
Although life still hit hard with how you struggle to create art, your appreciation for it was reborn and you are experiencing everything all over again as something new. Regardless of the burns and scars that made you insecure, the Kreideprinz made you feel nothing less than desirable and deserving of love. Though the blankness of your gaze saddens him, and sometimes even angers him due to the injustice you were dealt—he saw beauty in all that is you, and everything that blossoms from your hands.
Just for a moment, he wanted to show you what he sees the only way he knew: to create.
Vincent guided you into Albedo’s personal art studio in Mondstadt. The canine looked more excited than you. He nipped at the alchemist's white coat, tail wagging as he sat by your feet but paid attention to your lover. Charming eyes swept between you two as if awaiting praise and treats for a job well done.
For a moment, Albedo was reminded of Klee and it made him smile. He kneels down before the dog, patting his head. After a few minutes of petting, he relinquishes the promised treat.
Vincent then ran to his corner, satisfied. Usually, he is very protective and ends up hovering next to you; but with Albedo, he knows you are safe.
You giggled amusedly.
“Sometimes,” your lover sighed, “I think he only likes me to get treats and headpats. He also only comes to me by whining to play.”
You smirked teasingly, “Sounds familiar.”
Albedo paused before giving you a scolding look, yet the twitching smile betrayed him. He was then taken aback when you presented him a small gift bag and a bouquet of cecilia flowers.
“Happy Anniversary~!” You said.
He smiles, accepting your gifts to greet you back.
“Happy Anniversary, [Name].”
Per usual greeting, Albedo takes your hands in his to let them settle. Then, you let go to just feel as they glide across his skin. He closes his eyes to relish your caresses, nuzzling when you reach his face and touched his cheeks. From there, you felt his smile and it spurned yours.
However, as the alchemist opened his eyes, he had witnessed the spark of sadness in yours.
On your first anniversary together, Albedo crafted a special gift. A wooden easel held a blank canvas, or so it seems. If not for the colorful palette and wet brushes, nobody would spare it any glance or even thought. He guides you in front of him, encasing you in his arms and pressing his chest to your back. His lips whispered instructions almost seductively, soft and sensual as he lifted your hands to move them forward.
“Go ahead.” He implored your touch.
Fingertips make contact with what seems to be a canvas, but with bumps on it that definitely felt like braille. Your brows furrowed in confusion, unable to interpret it as anything. You can decipher some sort of pattern, but nothing in the braille alphabet comes to mind that makes sense.
“Don’t think in words, love.” Albedo advised, “Imagine it as you would paint a landscape.”
He is familiar with your art technique. After all, he has always been a fan since he first purchased your work at an auction. His keen observation noticed that the colors bloom from the center. Then, multiple layers come to refine the structure and control the shades. Once the painting is complete, the basic foundations are harder to notice but details never escape Albedo. To him, it felt like he was seeing two images in a single painting: one perceived by sight, and another perceived by heart—dual masterpieces for the price of one.
You follow his words and thus you begin to deduce a work of something.
The braille patterns made you think of Mondstadt’s flower meadows, petals of cecilia and seedheads of dandelions fluttering in the breeze. An orb that seems to be the sun is raised eastward with what appeared to be outlines of birds, aflight in the cloudy horizon. There are faint marks connoting mountains in the distance, and flowing swirls that felt like wave patterns along the coast. To further understand his message, you sought the center much like how you used to paint.
Albedo detects your newfound focus, aware that an image has been imprinted upon your mind.
“[Name],” he murmured tenderly, “I need you to keep your hands on the canvas. I will guide you in this next step. Do you trust me?”
You smiled meaningfully, “Always.”
A loving caress upon your skin is accompanied by a chaste kiss on your crown.
“I cannot give you the world—”
Then, the brailles moved.
“—but I can leave a piece of it in your hands.”
You quickly realize that the brailles were not made of ordinary material. Days and nights of listening to your lover’s random alchemy ramblings allowed you to learn a thing or two. This braille painting has been constructed with special elemental crystals. From the feel of it, they respond strongly to elemental energy—particularly yours and Albedo’s combined, both currently being channeled. Depending on the crystal, it can resonate with other elements.
Beneath your hands, the patterns moved in looping motion to signify that it was animated. Furthermore, the energy that resonated from every shard is almost alive. Anemo can be felt from the swaying of the dandelions, and dendro amplified the scent of the scattered cecilia across the grassland. Even the painted sun emits a comforting warmth due to hints of pyro, as if bathing the scenery with its light. The waves along the shoreline felt moist due to hydro, which resonated strongly with you—and for a short second, you actually miss Fontaine. The mountains are the familiar cold of cryo, which then registered for you that it was likely a reference of Dragonspine.
Just from this, your mind’s eyes can almost envision the outline of a city—one founded by Barbatos.
In Albedo’s eyes, the special formula for the paint which Sucrose helped him concoct had finally revealed itself. To outsiders, the canvas is nothing more but a lumpy surface. In truth, the blind will see its true form; and when given life via elemental energy, the rest will be unveiled. To you whom once knew the colors of the world, the simple animations of the image form a kaleidoscope that provides you melancholic nostalgia. By your fingertips, it certainly felt as if Albedo had given you a piece of the world that only you can see.
For this one moment, he and you can perceive the same world.
Tears gathered in your eyes yet a heartfelt smile radiantly shone upon your face. A sob of genuine happiness wracked your throat. As your knees begin to weaken, you leaned on the man that helped you see again—
—even if only a few seconds.
Albedo also smiled in relief, fully embracing you around the shoulders in support. He let you take in the moment while he basked under the blessing of your presence.
“If there is anything else you wish to see again,” he solemnly swore, “I will be your eyes and shall piously present its sights to you.”
At his oath, you abruptly let go of the painting and turned. Cupping his face in your hands, your lips eagerly meet his. Albedo returns your passionate amor with fervor, ever delighted to please you. He wishes to someday discover the truth of this world, as his master bade him to do. His one desire is that you would be there beside him when he does.
Even if destruction came by his hand, he already knows one truth by heart—
“The beauty of this world forever pales in comparison to you.”
DILUC RAGNVINDR is an uncrowned king raised as a noble gentleman of chivalry and gallantry. From the fiery red of his hair to his stern crimson glare, he upholds his aristocratic lineage with dignity. The cumbersome title of lord dictates the gravity of his obligations to Mondstadt. Whether as a nocturnal vigilante or as master of Dawn Winery, those who dare to threaten his home will face the wrath of his flames. Sinners who refuse penance shall have their blood paint the mighty blade of his claymore, as a furious firebird sends the wicked to retribution.
As a man coveted by many, he keeps his circle small and tightly knit. An outsider’s only chance to ever earn his favor is to either make themselves useful to Mondstadt, or by earning the approval of his more compassionate wife.
That woman is none other than you.
Diluc met you as a playmate in his childhood. His father, Master Crepus, was both a close friend and trusted business partner of your parents. Like the Ragnvindrs, your family specializes in the wine industry—specifically the medicinal values that are incorporated in liquor. Although your own father is from Mondstadt, he settled down in Liyue upon marrying your mother. Secretly, you and Diluc were arranged to be married. Everything worked out well since you both actually liked each other a lot. He was a very protective yet supportive friend, while you were a tactful and encouraging listener. When Kaeya had joined the family, the three of you became quite the inseparable trio.
Then, Crepus Ragnvindr died.
Everything happened so fast. Before you knew it, your fiancé chose to disappear and left only a single note for you as goodbye. It was not even a proper farewell, at least not the kind he made sure to give you every time. Even if there was little to no sincere romance in your engagement, you both respected each other as equals. However, his final note had completely staggered you.
“Don’t wait for me.” It said.
Such a heavy message in merely four words…
You understand what he means by it. He has made a decision wherein he would prefer to not involve you, and thus opting to let you go. The contract regarding the engagement was never too binding. Crepus had assured that either of you can break it off if you both reach such a consensus. However, the former head of the Ragnvindr Clan did not just choose any girl to be paired with his son. He specifically took interest in you because he always knew—if any woman can ever match his son and heir in terms of headstrong stubbornness, it can only be you.
With the patience of a saint, you graciously accepted Diluc’s decision. However, it did not mean you would back down so easily.
Honestly, you see it as poor manners to just leave things with a note. You have to just wait in the Dawn Winery so you can give him a proper scolding upon his inevitable return. Until then, you were more than willing to manage everything else on his behalf. The servants are ecstatic to find out you meant to stay despite their young master’s wishes. Your parents are also very considerate, only ever wishing for your happiness since then and now.
Under your supervision, Dawn Winery flourished and maintained dignity after the loss of its masters. You hold the cunning and integrity of any businessman worth their salt. Adelinde, Elzer, and the entire staff can attest that you are more strict than even the late Lady Ragnvindr—wife of Master Crepus.
Kaeya never confided to you whatever caused the fallout between him and his brother. However, he seemed so relieved and touched when you did not treat him differently. If anything, you seem to dote on him even more now—like a real older sister. He thus returns your kind and loving care equally, a bout of protectiveness that rivals your absent fiancé.
Years later, tragedy struck once again.
You were mistaken as the official Lady Ragnvindr by whichever enemies Diluc had made. They aimed to lure him out by means of threatening his supposed wife, taking you hostage. Despite being Visionless, you were far from a pushover. You did not go down without a fight and worked to plan your escape.
In the end, your captors thought you to be more trouble than your worth…
…and so, they aimed to kill you.
It is only due to Kaeya’s timely arrival this instance that you did not follow Crepus.
However, you did not get out of the incident perfectly unscathed. The brutality you suffered had caused a critical and permanent injury on your spine. It is with heavy hearts that the doctors informed you of the grim situation: you can never walk again.
Diluc promptly returned to Mondstadt when Kaeya relayed the news to him via letter. He had been so devastated to realize that you almost died because of him. He wanted to protect you by letting you go, but he underestimated your resolve. In his mind, he knew the only way to truly get you far away from him is to make you hate him. Upon finding courage to visit you, he doubled down on his determination when he left you years ago. You deserve better, and the life he could give you as Lady Ragnvindr will only be a disappointment. You deserve so much better than waking up to a cold, empty bed and waiting on late nights.
He opened the door to your room in his manor, ready to break your heart so you can leave him.
However, his hardened goal fell short.
You sat by the window, as beautiful as the day he last saw you. Even confined to a wheelchair, you remain smiling so warmly. Your enchanting gaze meets his crimson pair, and he melted at the sheer adoration you bestowed upon him. Your cheeks took a rosy glow, and your smile widened—lips moving to utter words of welcoming him back home, yet he cannot hear a thing. His only thoughts revolved on how badly he wanted to kiss you right now.
Diluc missed you so much, and hence he realized that he really is a fool.
How can he ever survive if he truly broke your heart, the most precious thing you entrusted to him?
“Marry me.” He said.
Much to his surprise, you only laughed and accepted—as if you always believed he would return to you.
It was truly laughable how easily you can weaken his resolve with a mere smile.
“It took you long enough, Master Diluc~!”
You winked at him as you laughed. Despite your lighthearted cheer, the redhead can see that the years apart took a toll on you. He crossed the room in graceful strides and he saw you more vividly. The bags under your eyes did little to dull their sparkle; the hollowness of your cheeks worried him but the rosy hue amplified their glamor; and your pallor was a little too pale for his liking, yet the freckles across your nose reassured him that you get enough sun on a daily basis.
Then, he bends down to hold you close and buries his face at the crook of your neck.
Your heart skipped lightly.
Then, you hugged him back—more tightly.
Diluc said nothing as he felt his shoulder get wet, and you did not make a sound as yours trembled.
“Welcome home.” You whispered.
He grits his teeth to fight against the tears.
“I’m home.” He murmurs.
The marriage started a little awkwardly. Three years had been a long time, and you both had changed in ways that put a strain on your dynamic. However, as you both learned to trust each other the way you did as kids, everything else flowed smoothly. You relied on him as he relied on you. Thanks to your endless patience, you managed to help your dear husband in anything that troubled his heart. At times, it is only by your gentle interventions that his overprotective tendencies can be quelled. It had become norm for the people of Mondstadt to see you at a cozy corner of Angel’s Share—beside the bar, whenever your husband took a shift. Any shenanigans are put to a stop by a warning glare that seemed more scathing than any other nights. None of the patrons—drunk or otherwise—dare to start any ruckus as long as you were present in the tavern.
There is nothing that Diluc kept from you anymore, as he claimed no more secrets. Although, he was curious when you steered clear if the topic is Kaeya.
“It’s not just your secret to share.” You reasoned.
The redhead felt his love and respect for you deepen at the claim.
Now, you sat in your husband’s office. While he was busy doing paperwork, you did embroidery on a silk pillow that got torn. However, there was a stifling air in the room that bothered him.
“What is it?” Diluc asked.
You raise a brow, “What do you mean?”
He stared back knowingly, “You have been redoing the same stitch for the past half hour. That only happens when you’re distracted; and you’re only ever distracted when something is troubling you.”
The redhead leans back on his chair, dropping his quill to cross his arms.
“So,” he continued, “what is it?”
You blushed at the fact you were caught so easily, but also flattered by how he is so attentive to you.
Diluc is then worried by your prolonged hesitance, gradually standing up from his chair. He walks up to you leisurely, kneeling by your side. His gloved hands take yours, mindful of your needlework as he placed it on the table. His vibrant eyes implore you to share your burdens, waiting and encouraging.
“I lied to you.”
He frowns at your blunt confession but said nothing, tilting his head to let you continue.
“On our wedding,” you reminisced, “you asked me what I wanted most so you could provide it. I replied that there was nothing more I could ever want since you asked me to marry you for real.”
Your right hand carefully broke free from his, rising to tuck his fringe away. Your palm rests on his cheek and your husband savored it with fondness. He then recalls being ready to arrange a grandiose wedding that day, remembering how much you rambled about being like a princess in your shared childhood. As a young boy, it used to grate on his nerves; but as your fiancé, Diluc found it necessary to pay attention.
Back then, he did not question it when you asked for a simpler celebration. After all, a lot has changed between him and you—for better and for worse.
“However,” you murmured, “there was one thing I had truly wished to experience with you.”
Your eyes stray away from his, drifting towards the unfinished embroidery pillow. His own eyes follow, and he immediately understands. The picture’s basic design depicts a pair of lovers dancing under the moonlit night. A gazebo frames their silhouettes while lampgrass grew around its base structure.
A wedding dance.
Diluc looks back up to you, smiling in exasperated affection. He then leans forward, taking you into his arms as he stood up. A mild squeak escapes your lips as your own arms clung to his neck, caught off guard by his sudden movement. Your husband steps out of the room while carrying you, yet offers no explanation whatsoever. Although you felt confused, it did not stop you from relaxing in his embrace and just leaning against him.
The redhead took you to the main foyer, and headed straight towards a small library corner. He dismisses the maid stationed to clean it, leaving you both in privacy. First, you were placed on the recliner near the fireplace. Then, he walked towards the old yet pristine gramophone. It belonged to his mother, he vaguely remembers. His father told him that she always loved to collect vinyls, a bittersweet sheen of unconditional love shining in his eyes.
The young lord wonders if the two of you would also remain as in love when you get older together.
“Diluc, what is this all about—”
You trailed off as waltz music began to play.
“When my wife wishes to dance,” he says, “what kind of husband am I to refuse?”
A suave smirk on his handsome face leaves you so utterly breathless. Your heart races, bursting with an unspeakable joy to call this man yours. Captivated by the sight of him, you can only watch as he strides back to you—charming as a prince straight out of a fairy tale book. His gloved hand is presented with a chivalrous bow, his rare theatric side being shown only for you—always only for you.
“May I have this dance, Milady?” He asks.
You gape speechlessly for a minute. A part of you was reluctant. How can you possibly dance in this circumstance? Nonetheless, you trust Diluc more than anything so you accepted.
“You may.”
Diluc gives a dazzling smile at your faith in him, and gently pulls you up. He expertly places your feet on his shoes, carrying your weight as you swayed. One of your hands is on his shoulder while one of his arms is wrapped firmly around your waist, holding you close. Your respective free hands are entwined, inseparable and perfectly at ease.
The marital couple moved fluidly and gracefully. You entrusted your body completely, to be moved in this dance he led confidently. Your patience and trust are returned by his warmth and protection, cradling you in a chrysalis that hopes to let you flourish. He even dares to help you twirl, making the skirt of your dress flutter like the petals of a wild rose in bloom.
The dreamlike sequence ends as he dips you into an intimate position. Heartbeats skip in sync, never of fear but of exhilaration.
Your hands leave his, believing he would never let you fall even if you let go. His grip transferred to your back and your nape, eager to be your support. You caress his face and pull him down for a searingly passionate kiss. He indulges you wholly, taking all that you have willingly given him. Your fingers shook as they entangle with his red mane. With the ease of a man who wields a claymore, he lifts you up. Your arms held tight around his neck, tilting into a new angle to not break the kiss. The fervor is returned a hundred fold, as if Diluc wishes nothing more than to fuse his soul with yours.
You are the one who empowers his flames, igniting his heart as your chosen Ifrit.
He made a vow at the altar, and not even death can do you part anymore—
“The privilege to call you mine is an honor I cannot surrender to fate.”
KAEYA ALBERICH is someone painfully aware of the power in words, and uses it to his advantage. He is as mysterious as he is efficient at being the Cavalry Captain of Ordo Favonius. The charisma he exudes can be as menacing as the frigid coldness of his Cryo Vision. The swiftness of his blade can be more merciful than the secrets he ruthlessly exploits. As much as he is admired by his peers, everyone can unanimously agree that his enigmatic ways leave them a little wary to trust him entirely. Nevertheless, the cunning of a flightless bird is just as deadly as the venom of a pit viper. A reluctance to comply is merely a sign to delve deeper.
In the carefree city of Mondstadt, only one has squared up to his level and defeated him—
—in every sense of the word.
You are the dainty little assistant of Lisa Minci, the resident librarian of Mondstadt. She slyly evades all attempts of divulging how and from where she met you. It is rumored she just found you sewing some of her worn books one day, and then decided that she has to have you as her assistant. The only other thing known about your relationship with her is that she can be extremely protective to the point of territorial. Similarly, nobody can fully understand the eccentricities demonstrated by the Witch of Purple Rose as much as you do. Since your employment, a peaceful synergy can be observed in the workings of the library and even the Knights of Favonius HQ.
The most notable thing about you is how you never limit your goodwill to work. Anyone you can reach is always on the receiving end of compassion. As such examples, Lisa has proudly introduced you to many of her prestigious friends. Since then, it had become a norm for them to see you.
Jean always ends up a little more relaxed with the cups of coffee you brew for her. You serve her tea as a silent insistence when it was time to rest. Albedo and Sucrose now have a habit of asking your referral in finding the best locations for any ingredients they would need. At random times, you appear around the corner to help Noelle in the most menial tasks and labors. Whenever Amber returns from her daily outriding, she would find you welcoming her by the gates with some food and water. Lastly, even Eula has begun picking you up to join her for lunch on weekends. You are the only civilian that never treats her differently, and actually seems to like her very much as a friend.
In a bout of poetic irony, the only one that seems to rarely receive your kindness was Kaeya.
Of course, you were far from unkind or cruel. You still greet him amicably every time you cross paths in the hallways or city streets. However, his shrewd gaze can detect your hesitance to interact with him for prolonged periods of time. Politely asking you about it did him no good as well. You only stared at him skeptically before shrugging, as if he should know the answer. A part of him questioned why it even bothered him so much, but perhaps it was a matter of ego. He knows himself well enough to be aware that it could be the reason he kept persisting on gaining your favor.
When Kaeya decided to tell Lisa about his situation, she had the gall to laugh at him.
“It’s because she sees right through you.”
Kaeya raises a brow, “I beg your pardon?”
Lisa smiles sharply, “My darling [Name] is an astute judge of character. It’s one of the reasons I adore her so much. Like you, she also knows her way with words. The more you talk while she listens, the more she compares the character she sees in your eyes and the persona that speaks with your lips. If they don’t match up, she will consider you to be too dangerous.”
For a moment, the Cavalry Captain felt his eyes darken defensively. A second later, they return to being detachedly bemused.
The Witch of Purple Rose catches the slip but does not comment about it. In fact, she willingly closes her eyes to let the man have his moment. However, she did continue to speak her piece.
“You’re not a bad guy,” she states, “and she knows that well. However, [Name] is the type who does not like to converse with people that refuse to respect the weight of the words they speak.”
A beaming smile is given by the librarian as she pats her colleague on his shoulder.
“Try speaking a little more honestly! It might earn you some brownie points.” She said.
Kaeya wanted to claim he is not going to bother and that he will just leave it at that. Alas, it seems he had found his match and could not resist your allure. In the end, he nodded before taking his leave.
To Lisa’s credit, her advice worked.
Obviously, Kaeya did not lay everything out in the open; but he became more sincere in his efforts to befriend you. To his pleasant surprise, you may be taciturn and reserved but it did not make you shy at all. If anything, you were quite bold for a pretty little damsel. He playfully flirted with you a few times and you were barely fazed. You even flirted back with teasing glances and fleeting touches that—he was impressed to admit—flustered him in shock. Your dollface can be deceiving as well. He had seen you pettily tattle to Lisa about patrons that give you a hard time. In turn, the mage trusts you to be the one to remind her of anyone who is late on their book returns. Thus, he watched you just peacefully sip tea while your employer terrorized the poor souls that earned her wrath with an innocent smile.
You rewarded the Cavalry Captain’s honest efforts by opening up to him a little.
It is here that Kaeya learned you were mute.
The cause was a very unfortunate birth defect when you were born prematurely. Your vocal chords did not grow correctly and almost suffocated you. The doctors were forced to remove it entirely via surgery so you can survive. Growing up, you became quite the bookworm because of this disability. You found solace in the immersion of reading the words you can never speak. It gradually turned you into a very talented scholar worthy of Lisa’s attention. Your nurturing ways with books and your preservation of comfort amidst the silence certainly gained merits.
Of course, your reserved nature did not mean you are to be underestimated.
The Witch of Purple Rose chose you as her personal assistant and sole substitute for a reason. It can be argued that you are potentially more frightening. You are the calm before the storm; and when you strike, no one ever sees it coming. Whenever hooligans think they can just steal books from the restricted section, every single one will be found hogtied and gagged on the Knights of Favonius’ doorsteps. A damsel you may appear but the only distress that can be felt is by the drunkards, who think they can harrass you without direct consequences. In fact, you made it your personal vendetta to discipline every member of Barbara’s fanclub and their stalker tendencies. A failure to comply forces them into public humiliation by wearing nun attires, and then prostrating themselves in front of Barbatos to beg for forgiveness.
Venti had an interesting view when he woke up from his nap on the statue’s hands.
The job of Cavalry Captain became that much more entertaining, and easier too.
Public ordinance is now easy to handle for all the patrolling knights, whom often need to tread lightly just to appease the common folks. Although the Acting Grandmaster would never say it outloud due to her soft nature, she was thankful for this subtle measures you have been making—especially in regards to her sister’s privacy and safety. Even the stoic Master Diluc seems to respect you since he actually makes effort to greet you more than he does any other stranger in the streets. Your drinks in Angel’s Share are discounted too, which is always a plus after a long day of work. Lisa took advantage of this perk just to tease.
As he got to know you, Kaeya finally arrived to a profoundly frightening conclusion.
He was falling in love with you.
No, he may have already fallen the moment you had turned into his newest fixation. The icy captain can recall Lisa’s words—how you judge people based on the character in their eyes, if it matches the persona that speaks. You actually looked at him and saw him with just a single glance; and when his words blurred the truth, his facade was already unraveling before your piercing gaze. You rejected him because he was denying the lost boy you see, and you embraced him when the charismatic captain found felicity in your companionship. You accepted both sides even if you knew nothing about either of them.
However, for all his clever ways in manipulating the feelings of others, Kaeya is powerless at the face of his own emotions.
Hence, the reasonable thing in his perspective is to simply run away from you.
It hurt you but it was something you also understood quite well. As mentioned, you were aware of Kaeya’s true character from the get-go. It was fine if this is really what he wants. You both lived your lives just fine when keeping your respective secrets. That should not change just because romantic feelings are now involved.
Lisa and your friends firmly believed otherwise.
Your doting older sister figure tells you one day that the elusive captain left a message. He says to meet him in Windrise, where Jean had put him on patrol for suspicious activity of the Abyss Order. In a twist of fate nobody expected, they even managed to get Diluc involved to make the information appear to be legitimate. The redhead claims he was getting sick of Kaeya's face brooding over you in Angel’s Share.
All else, as they say, was history when you were both given a chance to confront the truth together.
Now, Kaeya watches over your sleeping form on his bed—tuckered out from today’s work.
You are curled up to his chest, nuzzling his clavicle like a kitten. A delightful shiver ran through his spine every time your warm breaths hit his skin. Your left arm is draped over his waist while your right hand rested over his chest. His own arm cushions your head, bent by the elbow to poise himself up while he ran his fingers through your hair. The other one holds you close by the waist, legs intertwined so no space remains. The moonlight peeks through the curtains, basking you in afterglow that left him mesmerized every night. Leaning down, his lips tenderly kissed your brow as his embrace tightened possessively.
He grins as he felt your fingers move drowsily on his back, crumpling the blouse.
“Why are you watching me sleep?”
You drew special patterns to speak, blinking your eyes open to stare blankly at your lover.
He chuckles, bending down to give you an eskimo kiss while tracing words on your back as well.
“You look too beautiful to be true.”
You hummed in the form of a soft exhale, observing your beloved closely. Your hand leaves his back and reached up to his face, tucking his fringe behind his ear to see both of his eyes. It no longer concerns him to let you see his normally hidden eye, which flickered for a fraction of a second. He disclosed everything long ago. He has nothing else to hide, not from you at least—never again from you.
In fact, the language you were both using to silently communicate is from Khaenri'ah.
Kaeya invented the sign language of it and taught it to you. In public, people think it is just a cute secret between couples; but you knew better. There is a power in words, and Kaeya had entrusted you this in particular—a piece of his true self that only you can keep. Not even Diluc knew this much about him, as their bond of brotherhood shattered before he could make an attempt. Henceforth, you use this sign to talk with him privately and send messages only for your dear captain to decipher.
As you caressed his cheek, Kaeya sighed in perfect bliss. He leans towards your touch, turning his head to press a loving kiss on your palm. His own hand reached up to keep it in place. Delicately, his index finger traces another message on your knuckles.
“You’re not just a sweet dream, are you?”
Your eyes softened in understanding, smiling in hopes to alleviate his insecurities. Your hand directs his to your heart, much like how your other one stays above his own. Two hearts beat as one, delivering a mutual confession beknownst only to you and him.
Your lips moved and his unique eyes read them as if they held the meaning of life.
“I’m real, and I’m yours.”
Unable to help himself, Kaeya changes positions to loom over you. He pins your hands by the wrist on either sides of your head. You let him, locking eyes to wait until he regains his anchor to reality. As he straddles you, he leans down and his scarred eye glows with an unknown power. For a moment, the star in his misty blue orb sharpened into a slit. Then, his grip eventually loosens. Your arms soon take the chance to slither around his neck. You pull him down to your level, sensually slow to leave him in intense anticipation. Once he is a mere breath away, you lean up and forward.
Kaeya never fails to find sanctuary in your embrace, and salvation in your kiss. The taste of ambrosia is as addictive as the first time. He wanted more—needed more, even if it meant unequivocal demise.
One of his hands seeks one of yours, pressing against the mattress to interweave. A final message is traced as you both succumb to the passion that has waged wars since the dawn of creation.
“I love you.”
If the day of reckoning ever comes for him, the last hope of Khaenri'ah knows he does not stand alone.
Kaeya will always remember to seek out your light, and savor the hour of respite in your shadow. He holds faith in no god nor archon; but before you, he shall bend the knee in devoted worship.
This lost prince of sinners may be predestined for damnation, but he prays in your name—
“You are my northern star, the light that guides me back home.”
VENTI is a bard whose secrets are guarded by the lullabies of yesteryore and evermorrow. He holds the face of jubilant youth, yet his eyes tell a tale as old as time. While his voice mellifluously sings of tunes so spirited and free, his heart weighs heavy with the burden of an untold sacrilege. A couple thousand years can be a long time, yet the agony remains as fresh as the memories of a lucid dream. As he dons a smile that hopes to brighten the days and luminate the nights of Mondstadt, his soul belies the image of a nameless friend long gone. At times when the winds blew too coldly, he relies on the burning heat that drips down his throat—a taste so fine yet so bitter, like the freedom he idolizes.
Memories remind people what matters most, a life’s purpose to never forsake. However, more often than not, they come with the cruel regrets of what-ifs and what-could-have-beens. Henceforth, in tiresome days, the expense of living gets a little too much; and in sleepless nights, the weight of existing gets a little heavier.
Alas, when stars align just right, the wind will lead a pair of soulmates to find one another.
In Venti’s case, you found him.
It is actually very difficult to get him drunk, even if he acts otherwise. To be precise, he recovers quicker by getting sober minutes after he felt tipsy—and then, he would be downing another bottle. It is annoying for someone who just wants to forget his problems, but that is partially why he became accustomed to binge drinking. His rate of alcohol consumption would kill an average human, via alcohol poisoning, by the time he actually blacks out.
Amidst this cold and lonely night, the windborn bard was spared an ounce of warmth by a kind muse.
Venti woke up in a peculiar cottage that smelled of pollen and varnished wood. He heard the chirping of bluebirds, rousing him further away from his drowsy haze. A ray of sunshine peeks through the hanging cheap fabric used as curtains. He sits up, braids all messy with a very entangled bedhead.
As he stumbled out of the bedroom, the familiar sounds of Der Frühling beckoned him to the front porch. His veteran ears can attest that the notes are undoubtedly produced by a musician's hands, but a mere novice in the ways of the lyre. There was a harmonious flow in melody, yet the tone and pitch held little to no finesse in-between transitions. A sense of sheepish uncertainty distorts the song, but there was a certain charm in its dissonance.
He turns a corner, and there he saw you—
—a young dame sat upon a rickety swing, taming the bluebirds that sang for her strings.
The amused bard leaned against the doorway to watch the free show. His gleaming teal eyes stared blatantly, mesmerized by his supposed hostess. You wore an outfit that resembled his, but more modest and somewhat mismatched in color palette—an odd choice for a fellow bard. The only flashy thing about you is the Anemo Vision pinned onto your hair as it tied up your headband braid. It functioned as a hair ornament surrounded with cecilia and windwheel aster petals. A teal silk ribbon was mixed into your braid as its curled tail fluttered under your Vision ornament.
You seem to be inexperienced with the lyre, as Venti had confirmed upon seeing your performance; but you are still quite precise in your play. In theory, you hold enough knowledge to figure out which note works for a particular measure. Before he realized it, his own voice begins humming alongside the chirps of the gathered songbirds.
Alas, joining your small choir of avian creatures had startled them into flying away.
You also stiffened with a surprised jolt, practically snapping your head to look back at him. He does note that it was the birds’ exit that had shocked you, and not his soundly abrupt entrance.
“Ehe~!” Venti giggled nervously, “Sorry about that.”
You fumbled for a moment yet held the lyre firmly, careful to keep it steady. Standing up, you then walk over to him even though you shook in anxiety. Ever so tenderly, you returned his dearest Der Frühling as if handing over a precious baby.
Venti finds this heartwarming and endearing, having not met a fellow bard as considerate as you. He thus receives his lyre with gratitude, tracing its frame and plucking the strings. He marvels at the fact you even polished the instrument and retuned the strings.
“Many thanks, fellow bard~!” He chirped, “My name is Venti. May I know yours?”
You stared blankly at him for a moment, as if taking a few minutes to decipher his words. He spoke a little too quickly on purpose, patiently observing if you would prove his suspicions. As soon as you finally understood, you replied with some stutters in-between your syllables. It seemed more like a sound of uncertainty rather than a speech impediment.
“I-I am…[Name].”
A deaf virtuoso—the windborn bard believes you will make an interesting friend.
Ever since that day, Venti developed a habit of either visiting your abode or seeking you to hang out in the city. His consistent presence helped you be more comfortable in conversations. There was little to no stutters in-between your sentences now. As a bard whom prided himself in knowing all music of the past and future, the art of sign language is a helpful skill he utilized to pleasantly astound you.
The bard had never seen any mortal beam so bright when you smiled at him that day.
While you have gotten comfortable with him, Venti has also grown comfortable with you. There have been many incidents wherein his smiling mask just naturally came down around you. By your side, he felt more freedom than he has ever experienced in the past centuries. He knew it was dangerous to let this continue. The god in disguise has always been meticulously aware of his own feelings; and he was more than aware that he is falling for a mortal he will someday outlive.
However, he found you hard to resist.
Neither Venti nor Barbatos can hope to deny your profoundly unconditional love. What kind of god could reject such a heartfelt offering?
Despite your penchant for playing any available instrument, you preferred not to take center stage. In fact, your hidden knack for taming avian creatures is how you earn a daily living. Every songbird in the City of Freedom knows your tunes and can chirp them on command. This is due to your Anemo Vision, which has a unique ability that enables you to interact with the birds by means of frequency. Depending on how you control the vibrations in the breeze, they will follow like a choir does with a maestro.
You once dedicated a performance to Barbatos and the Four Winds. On that day, Venti heard his wisp brethren amongst the thousand winds croon at you in delight. He witnessed the silhouette of Vennessa’s falcon form hovering above you appraisingly, and a resounding roar can also be heard from Dvalin in his proclaimed lair. There were even the echoing howls of Andrius and his pack in Wolvendom.
This leads him to discover that your true talent lies in writing music. He had seen and read your musical compositions, grinning at every single one. With your permission, he even played a few in your home as payment for your gracious hospitality.
“You can negotiate with bards for this, you know.” He proposed, “I’m no businessman; but even I know letting other musicians play this will earn you a hefty sum of mora.”
You smiled sadly, “N-Nobody…w-would acknowledge music…composed by a deaf girl.” You confessed.
Venti turned solemn as he gazed at you. Although intimidating in its rarity, you are not perturbed by this abrupt change of mood. Your darling bard wears a mask on a daily basis that blurs truth and deceit.
You have become acquainted with them all.
He hummed playfully, “Now that just won’t do.”
You tilt your head confusedly, blinking in surprise when he suddenly takes hold of your hands.
“Ehe~!” He giggled, “Let me play…all of your music, [Name]. In fact, I’ll write…a lyrical ballad…for each of them. We’ll be the best duo…in Mondstadt!”
He had to slow down his speech a bit since he could not use his hands to help you keep up.
Thus, a new routine began for you two.
Venti kept his word. For the next few months, he only sang of the tunes you composed. A few of his regular listeners heard the slightest change in his playstyle. A part of him wished to smile bitterly as other bards and occasional playwrights praised his talent. He pettily made sure to charge thrice from them when he was requested for encores. These fools had rejected you just because of your disability yet they literally sing praises when he played your creations. Any artist worth their salt should have been able to see your potential at a glance.
Nevertheless, he ensured to always come home to you with bags full of mora whenever he plays your music in particular. You deserve nothing less than that, and he refuses to settle for anything else.
Regardless of this success, Venti recognized the melancholy in your eyes. You used to smile radiantly every time you watched him play. Your ears cannot hear the notes but you can feel the vibrations in the air. Your beguiling eyes relished the perfection of just watching Venti play to his heart’s content.
However, he was not blind to your inner turmoil and thus sought to relieve it.
“What’s wrong, Windblume?” He asked.
You hesitate, looking down at your feet. Gently, he props a finger under your chin to raise your head. A tender smile of encouragement implored you to speak your thoughts freely.
“I’m…frustrated.” You replied.
He says nothing but his smile does falter to a glaze of concern, waiting patiently to let you finish.
“I feel…so happy and grateful…when you play my songs.” You confided, “It’s finally being heard…and not just through the songbirds. People are now listening…to how it is supposed to be heard, and how I envisioned it to be played.”
Tears gather in your lovely eyes, overflowing with emotions too much for your heart. Your darling bard does not waver. He raises a hand to cup your cheek in his palm while his fingertips swept your sorrows.
“I want to…” you sobbed, “I want to hear you too!”
Venti held you protectively close, wishing more than anything else to shield you from this wild tempest of emotions. Alas, he was more than aware of the truth that the loveliest of rainbows can only come after the harshest storm. These are the feelings that must have festered for so long within you. People who can hear cruelly turn deaf to the ones whose worlds have been rendered silent. It was as if they do not deserve a voice if they knew not how it sounds. The thought infuriates the bard, reminding him of your beautiful songs discarded as nothing more than the passing chirps of songbirds.
He used his talents to let your ballads be heard.
Perhaps, he can use a different set of talents to let you hear his own?
You gripped onto Venti as if he was your lifeline, a part of you crumbling in sheer relief. He has always encouraged you to never be ashamed of what and how you feel. Whether it be deemed good or bad, all of it belonged to you. They make you human, the reason why he adores you above all. His gentle hand carded through your hair, skillful as when he plucks and strums the strings of Der Frühling. Pulling away slightly, his lips rested upon your temple and then your forehead. They stray towards your cheeks, a taste of salt from your tears.
Lastly, they hover above your own lips—centimeters apart, just a breath before they touch.
Teal eyes glow a shimmering green, both of you becoming enraptured by each other.
Venti needed you to say no more.
He takes you in his arms and spreads his wings. He delivers you to Windrise and its special tree, trusting him so wholly that you did not question him. Instead, you melted in his arms and enjoyed the warm breeze that wrapped around you like a blanket.
Once he sits you down beneath the tree, Venti sits in front of you to place one of your hands right above his heart. It beats steadily yet faintly, present yet not quite—like the wind he controls. He summons Der Frühling and smiles lovingly at you. The crystalflies illuminate his youthful features, providing a mystical glow that enthralls his dearest muse.
“Eyes on me, meine liebe.” He mouths.
Closing his eyes, he begins his private performance.
You frown, wondering what he means to prove with this. Still, you obliged his wishes and kept your eyes solely on him. Your hand remained where he placed it, right over the constant beating of his heart.
Then, you finally noticed the gathering streams of energy around yourself and your lover.
Your Anemo Vision began to glow alongside Venti’s iconic braids. The winds hummed together with him, united under his influence. It is an enchanting image, dazzling you into stunned admiration.
Then, you finally hear him—vocalizing the precious melody you dedicated to him alone. He sang of his past, his present, and his future which are now all intertwined by the whispers of you.
/Gales of song, please stay by my side/
He opens his eyes and releases his lyre. It plays as it floats, and you are mesmerized by how you can hear it all. By power of anemo, he merges your heart with his while enabling your psalm to be immortalized amongst the winds. He reaches up a hand to keep yours on his chest while its pair entangles with the other. His forehead leans on yours, gaze softening as you wept in bliss.
White feathers rained down on the landscape of green and blue. Floating lights illuminated the dark, be they stars or crystalflies. The Statue of the Seven sung in accompaniment to the intimate confessions of Barbatos—to you and for you.
/Winds of love, breathe into my life/
You can hear him so clearly—his regrets, his woes, his dreams, and his love. You hear it all through the song you composed at the thought of him, which he plays at the memory of you.
A fated parting shall occur someday, but he will love no other the way he loves you.
Therefore, with a passionate kiss, he makes you a promise—
“Come what may, you are the melody my heart will always sing.”
DAINSLEIF perseveres as a maverick shaped by his resolutions and driven by conviction. After enduring five centuries, he has earned a fair few titles as his new names. However, these remnants can never piece together his whole existence. As the Twilight Sword, there is no longer a Khaenri'ah to consider as his homeland to protect. As the Bough Keeper, there is no true grace to his purpose while burdened by a curse that shall someday rob him of his own mind and soul. In the eyes of Celestia, he is no more than a sinner doomed to a fate which can be argued as worse than death. As for the rest of the world, he is no more than a listless wanderer whom holds an obsession with stopping a disgrace known as the Abyss Order.
To honor those he had failed in his homeland, he can only move forward in the best way he knew—even if it is against those he had formerly served. Souls of the condemned hold no genuine hope of ascending to Celestia, for they amount to nothing more than heretics that do not worship any god. Therefore, for those who dare to remember, erosion will befall upon them as a final kiss of damnation. Before that day comes for him, this foolish score must be settled so he can meet his demise without regrets.
There is no genuine reward at the end of this tedious and lonesome quest. He is aware.
Nonetheless, the accursed immortal human refuses to falter under the taunt of judgment. If damnation is what shall meet him at the end of this quest, then he shall do it on his own terms. For if he must also end without his resolve, then there will truly be nothing left of him and Khaenri'ah.
There had been instances aplenty wherein the divine is likened to the flowers blossoming across Teyvat; and as a lonesome wanderer, he has grown accustomed to these tragic folklores.
The God of Dust named Guizhong left behind a quiet legacy amongst the glaze lilies. Songs which keep them abloom become tributes to her name.
The Goddess of Flowers known as Nabu Malikata had left her remnants within the padisarahs. Even if not as they were anymore, they serve as a memoir.
Godless they may have been, the glorious nation of Khaenri'ah also held pride over a particular flower—the Inteyvat. Alas, nobody but the former Twilight Sword retains the awareness to recall whom they represent the most.
“My memory has all but faded completely,” a voice murmurs piously, “but I will always remember how much she too loved these flowers.”
Dainsleif spoke not of Lumine here, although she does remind him of the one he reminisces. He dares say travelling with her had been the closest to home, a feeling of warm comfort. However, it never was the same exact happiness he sought in another—a mere ghost in his past. The lost historical relics in Sumeru speak of her as the last Eclipse Princess, whom was hailed as the Heretic Saintess. However, to him, she was the woman he dearly cherishes to this day…
…and the one he laments most for failing to protect in the bout of cataclysmic calamity.
Indeed, the Bough Keeper realizes; this accursed immortality is a fitting punishment for what Celestia deems a sinner. For he can forsake everything, but anything he has left of her will vividly linger. The doomsday of his own reckoning shall be when that too is ripped away from him.
Until then, he will dream of her. Until then, he will foolishly hope for the day they meet again.
Then, like a prayer to a nonexistent god, answers came in the ethereal form of you.
You met Dainsleif on a stormy night. In fact, he just found your cabin in the woods to seek a temporary shelter—injured and knocked unconscious. He was already half-delirious from a high fever, and it did not take a genius to know the man had a rough week. It is not out of kindness that you nursed him back to health, but due to a selfish motive to figure him out.
“Who are you?” You mumbled.
It seems he was not entirely out of it since he still managed to respond clearly.
“Dain…sleif…”
As soon as he muttered back, he eventually fell limp in your arms. For those brief seconds, there was a swelling ache upon your chest—nostalgia. A chilling tingle ran through your spine, like the touch of an invasive ghost on your skin—melancholy. Then, it spreads as smoldering heat to your veins as if to ignite your bloodstream—passion.
“Dainsleif, huh?”
The name felt like velvet on your tongue. His clothes and features were all too familiar to you—a fellow kinsman from Khaenri'ah. However, your eidetic memory never once brought you to a conclusion about this man’s identity. Regardless, your body reacts as if begging for your mind to catch up in recognition.
Even as you tended to him, nothing clicked.
“Your Highness…”
His voice weakly called, raspy and strained as if to choke it out. Your star-shaped pupils dilate as they meet his own hazy glare. His hand was reaching out to you, looking yet not truly seeing.
Alas, you made no move to truly stop him and remained awkwardly staring back.
“You’re dreaming, Sir Dainsleif.”
As if hearing his name from you brought comfort, he settles down again. His eyes start to close but now his hand found yours resting by his bedside. You recoiled yet his grip was oddly firm for a deeply ill patient. Perhaps, you can allow this until he gets some real rest.
When he recovered, Dainsleif vanished as abruptly as he barged into your life.
The next time you met again, it was your turn to be the one in need.
Dainsleif finds you in a clearing of soot and frost, holding a young man desperately. It was as if a clash of fire and ice had occurred under the rain. You look up to him, stars in your eyes shimmering with panic and sorrow. Without a word, he aids you by carrying the unconscious male and leading you back to the cabin. You made no reaction other than grasping onto his cloak tightly, like a lost child.
Despite not wishing to overstay his welcome, the Bough Keeper chose to stay for the night. You were unresponsive to him, as if your mind had shut down completely. A vague memory of a person so similar to you made Dainsleif familiar to the situation. Thus, the task of healing your patient fell to him until you could regain your composure.
“Please be well, Kaeya.” You murmured.
Dainsleif did not pry about your business, giving you the same respect you had done for his privacy. It did, however, astonish him when you took hold of his wrist and dragged him outside with you the next day.
The man named Kaeya stirred awake.
Befuddled, the former Twilight Sword kept silent as he watched from afar with you. Kaeya ate the warm meal you prepared on the table, and mixed emotions flickered in his eyes as he did. His head turned to observe everything in the cabin, searching almost as desperately as you appeared last night. Numerous dreamcatchers and embroideries decorate the walls in a contradictingly systematic manner. The more he analyzed, the more he remembered his childhood—as if your crafts gave him pieces of long forgotten memories. Then, he slowly stood up and made his way to a periwinkle dreamcatcher designed with a pavo ocellus constellation.
A single silver-blue eye gazed out the window, nearly catching your own gaze—
—but you ducked down behind the huge boulders and pulled Dainsleif with you to hide.
Kaeya got his things back and left a small note of gratitude for your care. Wordlessly, he left the cabin with the dreamcatcher now hanging on his belt—right beside his Cryo Vision. He looked back over his shoulder only once to give a bittersweet smile.
“Farewell, sis.” He whispered.
A humming zephyr delivered his message, and then he went back to Mondstadt.
Dainsleif sat down beside you for an entire hour, a mix of pity and empathy. When clarity returned to your eyes, he rose to take his leave. Once again, he was halted on his tracks by your hand grabbing onto his own gloved one.
“Hey,” you said, “do you mind if I go with you?”
Against his better judgment, the cursed immortal agreed after a minute of contemplation.
This newfound journey together has a very tedious beginning, mostly attributed to you. Everything was strange and nothing felt safe, which was expected because you both never stayed in one place. You, whom sought solace in consistency, were always forced to adapt to something new. Sleeping became a chore because you felt every small pebble and thin blade of grass pressing against you. It is by the mere thoughtfulness of your companion that you got a semblance of rest. Dainsleif always covered you in his cape and was willing to hold you soothingly, as if he knows just how to calm you down. There has been moments wherein you had tantrums, and some meltdowns that delayed some plans. Other days, you shut down completely and only wake back up to reality after a day or two.
Dainsleif was shockingly very patient with you, never berating and ready to soothe whenever you are in distress. He never once pushed you to go back. Only once, he offered to take you somewhere to settle after a very bad episode.
“No, I can’t!” You exclaimed, “I have to keep moving. I have to…keep going. Make sure…nobody finds me.”
It was unspoken that you were specifically running away from the City of Freedom, all for avoiding your your younger brother. There is a destiny that kept you both apart even when you mutually wish to be reunited. As children of Khaenri'ah, the former knight can take a guess what that sort of fate presents.
Since then, your travel companion did not question your decision anymore.
Without prompting, Dainsleif seemed used to your symptoms. It was almost eerie how he knew exactly what to say and do in every situation that involved your condition. He makes effort to prepare the same meals that you wish to have every day, and only light fruit snacks at night because you get very restless otherwise. At times he wanted to keep going, he stops himself to make camp for you first on the same evening hour before scouting ahead. He only allows himself to be gone for exactly 45 minutes, which was your limit to being alone whenever you both decide to camp out rather than checking into an inn or hotel. Whenever a wave of unease hits, he keeps a bag of materials that either lets you weave dreamcatchers or tinker an antique you scavenged in the ruins you passed. Every time your mind begins to close off, he sits down with you and holds your hands to meditate. When you need space, he keeps his distance; and when you need companionship, he keeps you close.
“How?” You ask.
Dainsleif raises a brow as he looks down at you. It was in the middle of Lantern Rite as you both watch the festivities from a nearby hill. After indulging in a few stalls, you calmed by playing with his fingers as your head rested on his lap. He knows the meaning to your one-worded inquiry, and he wonders how to answer you truthfully.
“I knew someone similar to you.” He said.
You sat up before blankly staring into his eyes, stars meeting stars. Tilting your head, a flash of curiosity brought light to your emotionless gaze.
“The princess…?” You asked.
The Bough Keeper blinked in surprise.
“You dreamed of her a lot when we first met.”
Your statement made him look away bashfully, a bit embarrassed to be reminded.
“Was she important to you?” You asked.
At this, he looks at you in the eyes. His star-shaped pupils practically gleam with an emotion you could not read—or perhaps, could not comprehend.
“She is my dearest one.” He declared.
Normal people probably would have felt jealous at that confession. He even used a present tense to show that his feelings have not wavered.
You and Dainsleif never gave a label to this peculiar relationship, but you hold a mutual understanding that it had grown to more than just friends. It was a development nurtured by meaningful exchanges and secretive affections. The sentiments are far from platonic or familial, that much is sure.
That night, when you released a lantern, you made a fleeting wish—
—not to the gods, but to the princess.
“Please look after Dainsleif.”
Meanwhile, the Twilight Sword fondly gazes upon your form. The image of your past self overlaps with the present. He recalls the ever sleepless nights of guarding you in the tower. Starlight showered upon your figure leaning by the windowframe. Delicate hands reach out to set free artificial crystalflies that glow as wisps of moonlight. A breath of laughter is echoed in the lonely room, and then he is blessed by a smile more divine than Celestia.
The memory flickers as the silver starlights are replaced by golden lanterns, and your humble self stood in place of the estranged saintess—
—but that smile remains.
Morning welcomed Dainsleif with the strange sight of you looming over him. With practiced ease, he resumes calm as he let you do as you please like it was nothing unusual. He knows of your quirks just as you are aware of his boundaries. There is mutual trust of consent that tells which actions would be acceptable anytime. He did gulp a little nervously as his drowsy eyes analyzed you. His hands twitched but he willed them to stay in place despite his inner yearning.
Disheveled, you were straddling him while still in your nightgown. Your hair was messily draped over your shoulders, creating a curtain around the blond man beneath you. A glazed veil engulfs your eyes like a dreamy countenance of a faraway reverie.
“Dain…”
“What is it, [Name]?”
“I had a dream last night.”
“A dream, you say?”
You nod, leaning down almost conspirationally yet the expression on your face remains unreadable. A gasp hitched in his throat as your lips strayed to his ear, whispering shakily—
“I remember, Dain.”
Realization struck him.
Dainsleif switches positions with you yet he receives no protest. His ungloved hands cup your face in order to meet your eyes with his own beseeching pair. You see his visage, unmasked and vulnerable, that longingly wish for your approval.
You nodded.
Dainsleif claims your lips in ardent greed, and you responded in eager devotion.
Intertwined, redamancy is bliss for the reunited knight and his only princess—
“Your heart is the only other half that can ever complete mine.”
