Fools - T.N
Tumblr media
in which the only Hufflepuff friend in the group of slytherins develops a crush on Theodore Nott— something only fools do.
fem!hufflepuff reader, bff Pansy, use of euphemisms and teasing yn for being innocent but sfw, reader is very emotional, jealous theo, 2800 words
Tumblr media
"Y/n!!"
After a year, you'd think that people would get used to seeing the same Hufflepuff go over to the Slytherin table, but alas, half the Great Hall turned to watch you approach the table and take a seat next to Pansy.
She sticks her middle finger up behind your back, aiming it at all of the people who are still staring, and they quickly turn away. It was an unlikely friendship, but she was not going to let anyone make you feel bad about it.
"About time you get here," Draco huffs, "I've had to hear Pansy's 'girl talk' while you were sleeping."
You smile sheepishly at him, you had taken your sweet time this morning, hitting snooze a few times before listening to your favorite record and doing more singing than actually getting ready— resulting in you being extra late to breakfast.
"Sorry, Draco."
"Don't apologize yn, he doesn't deserve it."
You can hear the teasing lilt in Theo's voice from across the table, and Draco throws a handful of grapes at him.
"Whatever," Pansy turns her back to them, "did you hear, apparently the Hufflepuff chaser has a crush on you."
Your eyes flit between her face and your hands, and you wonder where she got her information from.
The boys around you seem to perk up at this, and Draco chides Pansy for deeming that piece of information unimportant compared to all her other, much more useless, girl talk this morning.
"Where on Earth did you hear that?" You cut in, not enjoying the way everyone is suddenly interested in your (nonexistent) love life.
"From a very trustworthy source," is all she'll give away, and you cringe.
"Can we change subjects, please?"
Theo narrows his eyes at you, as if he's searching your face for something.
"You don't care about it then? You're not jumping at the chance to ride his broom?"
The Slytherins around you snicker at his euphemism, but you go bright red.
"I- what! Why would you say- no!"
This only makes them laugh harder, but Pansy collects herself enough to place a reassuring hand on your arm.
"Don't worry, we all know our little puff would never."
You slap her hand away, upset at them treating you like a child.
"Well if you guys are only gonna tease me, I'm gonna go back to my own table."
"Y/n, we didn't mean-" Theo starts, but he's still got a smirk on his face, so you ignore him, leaving before he can try and stop you.
You take a seat at your own house table, and the Hufflepuffs around you immediately welcome you into their conversation.
You don't know why it bothered you so much. They were right, you weren't going to be "riding someone's broom" anytime soon, but hearing the way they talked about it— like you were just some silly, innocent baby— really bugged you.
If you were being honest with yourself, you also knew that deep down you've been repressing feelings for Theodore, because you knew enough stories about him to know it would never work. He was a heartthrob, and had no issue finding girls to entertain him at night— to him you were just a little girl. That conversation was just more proof. There's no way he'd be interested in you.
You unintentionally make eye contact with Zacharias Smith when you finally get out of your head, but you immediately look away, turning back to your friends just as Hannah asks about your Christmas plans.
You don't see your Slytherin friends again until Charms class, and Pansy immediately brings up what happened at breakfast.
"Hey, I'm sorry about that. I don't want you to feel bad, that's just how we are."
You give her a tight lipped smile, shrugging your shoulders. You've realized that most of the anger came from the realization that Theo probably saw you as a child, not actually their teasing.
"No biggie, it's forgiven."
She eyes you suspiciously but decides not to question it, instead starting to talk about her next party idea until she gets shushed when Professor Flitwick starts explaining directions.
You use the quiet moment to sneak a look at Theo, who's leaned back in his chair smirking at something Draco said next to him.
Pansy turns to you and you quickly shift your focus, but it appears she's already seen you. She gives you a raised eyebrow, and you play dumb, looking back at the teapot on your desk and trying to give it legs.
"What was that about back there?" Pansy asks as the two of you walk out together.
"I know it took me forever to get those stupid legs," you cringe, hoping to throw her off course.
"No I meant your staring."
You try not to look guilty, just shrugging your shoulders and explaining, "figured the boys might have figured it out faster. Should have known better."
She grins at that, muttering "you really should have." But something tells you she doesn't quite believe your story.
Your thoughts are only confirmed the next day when she invites you over to her dorm and then immediately suggests the two of you take veritaserum to play a game of truth or dare.
You let out a sigh.
"I'm not doing that Pans, just ask me whatever you want to know."
She grins, "you know me so well."
"Unfortunately," you tease, and she slaps your arm but asks her question anyway.
"Do you have a crush on Draco?"
Her face drops into confusion when you start laughing hysterically.
"That's what you thought? Merlin, you had me scared for no reason. No Pans, I absolutely do not have a crush on Draco."
She lets out a small sigh of relief, but you can tell she's a little peeved you laughed at her.
"Well what was I supposed to think? You got all grumpy yesterday when we were teasing you about your love life, and then the staring. It was either that or you're secretly in love with Nott, which, lets be for real."
She leaves it at that, but your cheeks flush pink. Be for real what? Be for real, he'd never want you? Be for real, what universe would the two of you work out? Be for real, he hates you?
The thoughts keep coming one after another, and suddenly your vision is blurred.
"Hey, woah, what's wrong?"
You cursed Pansy for being so observant.
"Nothing, I think my allergies are acting up." You say, but there's sadness in your voice, and there's an inch of snow outside, which isn't exactly pollen friendly.
"Don't lie to me y/n."
"I'm sorry for being so stupid and emotional." You cry, and Pansy rubs your back slowly.
"Hey, there's nothing wrong with being emotional! You don't see us do it much, but a lot of that's got to do with how we were raised. I wish I felt things as deeply as you do."
Your tears seem to slow, and she smiles.
"Now as for stupid, that depends on where that fit came from."
You look up at her in embarrassment, more hot tears threatening to fill your eyes.
"I... what did you mean?" You ask instead.
"Huh?"
"When you said be for real about me secretly being.." you couldn't bring yourself to say it, as if saying the words would make it true and something you could no longer push away and pretend wasn't there.
Realization dawns on Pansy's face, and she immediately wraps you up in a hug.
"Oh yn, it all makes sense now."
You continue to cry, and she looks at you with what you assume is pity in her eyes.
"I know, I'm such a fool! I know it would never happen, I know half of Hogwarts has a crush on him, I know he'd never want a girl like me." All of the things you'd been keeping to yourself and secretly thinking come spilling out of your mouth, and Pansy rubs your back while you continue to cry.
"Hey don't talk like that! Theo doesn't care about those people, and I know he cares about you. Not to mention, "a girl like you"? You're the exact type of girl that Theo needs. He practically never smiles the way he does when you're around. Just calm down okay?"
You nod through your cries, finally settling down as Pansy throws a magazine at you and the two of you lay across her bed.
Unknowingly, you end up falling asleep, tired from the amount of crying you did. Pansy notices but decides not to wake you, heading down to the common room where the guys would be getting back from quidditch practice soon.
When you wake up the room is dark, and a quick looks around reminds you you're in Pansy's room and not your own. You check the bathroom attached to the dorm, and when no one is in there you head down to the common room, assuming that's where she's gone to.
The whole group is sat on leather couches and armchairs when you make it down the stairs, and you rub the sleep out of your eyes as you approach the group.
"There's our assonnata bella," Theodore purrs, and you immediately flush even though you only understand half of his phrase. (sleeping beauty)
"Sorry for falling asleep." You apologize as you take the seat Pansy offered you, coincidentally landing between her and the reason for your crying.
"Stop apologizing so much," Theo whispers in your ear, and you refuse to look at him in fear of him seeing exactly the effect he has on you. Instead you continue to look at Pansy.
"No biggie, you needed it after that." She says, and you nod.
"After what? What happened?" Draco asked, ever the nosy weasel.
Pansy looked at you, obviously waiting for you to answer so she could go along with whatever you say.
You consider lying, but figure there's no point. They all know you're an emotional person, no one would find it unusual.
"I- uh- cried a little bit. Tired me out."
The boys (that you can see) all nod their heads in understanding and decide to switch topics, finally letting you relax.
However, since you'd turned your back to Theo, that now meant when you leaned back to get comfy you leaned directly into his chest, as he had one arm on the back of the couch behind you.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" You whisper, shooting back up and speaking only to him in an attempt to not draw attention from the others.
"Don't be silly," he says back, pulling your shoulders so you're back in the relaxed position against him, "you're welcome in my arms any day ragazza dolce." (Sweet girl)
You flush red again, but this time you do look up at him, a teasing glint in your eyes.
"You know I have absolutely no idea what you're saying, right?"
He grins, "that's part of the fun."
"Whatever," you turn back away from him to look at the group, your head resting right over his heart, "as long as you're not calling me a troll."
"I promise I'm not." He says, ruffling your hair before the both of you rejoin the main conversation.
"Zacharias Smith was at our practice today," Draco tells Pansy, and she looks at him in surprise.
"Really? Maybe he was looking for yn. She does sometimes keep me company in the stands."
"Oh he definitely was." Blaise smirks, and you feel Theo tense behind you. "Walked right up to Theo and asked where the pretty little one we're always hanging out with was."
"What?" Pansy shrieks, looking over, although you're unsure if the intentional target was you or the boy behind you. Her eyes momentarily widen at seeing your position before she notices something and smirks.
"Theo," she drawls, "I didn't notice those cuts on your knuckles earlier, is that new?"
Everyone turns to look at Theo, and you sit up in alarm, turning to look at his hand that's laying behind your spot on the couch.
"Theo! What happened? Why didn't you go get this checked out?"
He averts his eyes from your gaze. "Just wasn't thinking about it," he shrugs.
You frown. "How could you not be thinking about it, that looks painful!"
He shrugs again, grimacing when you grab his hand, insisting he let you heal it.
"Just let me go get my wand okay? I left it in Pansy's room."
You get up to leave, and with your back turned you don't see Pansy whisper to Theo and then him get up and follow you.
"I'll just come with." He announces, following you back to your friends room.
You try not to think about the intimacy of being alone with Theo while you tend to his wounds, trying once again to shove all your feelings down far in your heart.
Thankfully none of Pansy's roommates had come back, and Theo sits on her bed while you grab your wand from her nightstand before standing in between his spread legs.
"Give me your hand."
He complies, and you try not to blush at the warmth of his, much bigger, hand resting on your own.
"This is nasty Theo, did you punch a wall or something?" You ask, beginning to heal a few of the cuts. Luckily most of them were clean from where he'd washed them when he showered after practice, but they were scabbed over and his knuckles were blue with beginning to form bruises.
He lets out an amused huff of laughter and you stop your ministrations, looking up at him immediately.
"Tell me you didn't actually punch a wall."
He shrugs, "it was either that or Smith, and I know you don't like when I get into fights."
You feel yourself heat up. He didn't hit someone because of your preference, and the person just happened to be the guy who supposedly has a crush on you.
"Well I'm glad you didn't send my housemate to the hospital wing at least, although I wish you wouldn't have hurt yourself," you sigh, continuing to heal his hands.
Out of nowhere he pulls it away.
"Theo?"
"Look, I-" he cards a hand through his hair, contemplating his next words. "I didn't like it that Smith came looking for you. Especially that he asked me."
You look at him in confusion, "what? Why?"
He looks distraught, but he can't help the crooked smile that etches itself on his face.
"You're damn oblivious, you know that?"
You continue to look at him, no thoughts behind your eyes.
"Uh, I mean I guess? I've been told that a few times, though I'm not sure how it's pertinent to this situation."
Suddenly Theo's hands are on your cheeks, and his face is inches from your own.
"What- what are you doing?"
"I want to kiss you." He states plainly, as if it's the most normal thing in the world— as if the five words didn't have you spiraling out of control.
"Wait- do you want to kiss me because you think I'm like pretty or do you want to kiss me because you like me?"
You'd never even thought he would consider you pretty, but at his words you had to rethink a lot of things you thought you knew.
"I like you, amorina." (Little love)
"Really?" You know you should be celebrating, but you can't help the doubt that creeps into your mind. "You don't think I'm a silly, innocent, little Hufflepuff?"
He grins, "you can be my silly little Hufflepuff. And no I don't care that you're not jumping at the opportunity to go broom hopping."
You can't help but laugh a his phrasing, but you're glad he knew what you meant.
"I like you, amorina, I don't care about anything else, as long as I get you."
You smile, and Theo swears he could die happy if it's the last thing he sees.
"Well in that case, I want you to kiss me too."
He can barely hold back his own smile as he places his lips on yours, cradling your jaw with one hand while the other holds your hip.
He kissed you gently, not at all like what you'd expected, but you feel his adoration flowing out of it, and you can't help but break it to let out a giggle.
"And to think I was crying over you a few hours ago."
He grins, standing up and grabbing your hand to walk back down to the common room together, where your friends were waiting for you to go to dinner.
"No more crying over me okay?"
You nod your head, and he pulls you in for one more kiss before you rejoin the rest of your friends.

inspired by i think @ourflagmeansgayrights bc i also have too many WIPs (10 i guess, which is too many) and I kind of want to put them in the atmosphere so I finish some of them.
Starting with the two I might finish:
Not Christmas fic (also inspired by an @ourflagmeansgayrights post?) where post-divorce Stede on his first Christmas alone goes to NYC for the day on impulse bc all the movies make it look festive. It's not, really, but he does meet Ed there! And then they semi-accidentally go on a 24-hour extremely secular date and fall in love and have sex and all that.
Mega long fic where Ed and Stede meet as kids. Ed works at the Bonnet estate--he ended up there after the whole killing his dad thing, becomes bffs with Stede, they do some cute teen romance stuff, and they make plans to run away together after Stede's dad starts floating marriage prospects, but Badmintons intervene and Stede is forced into the British Naval Academy and Ed manages to escape the estate and goes home to his mom. But they tell Stede that Ed is dead! And then Stede finds out that he's not! And that Ed is Blackbeard (who has a slightly different reputation in this universe)! Anyway it's a lot of fic. I've got it pretty much mapped out but I'm intimidated by it.
lol not to mention the one I have mostly published with the last chapter mostly written but haven't finished yet haha
And some that are just sparkles in my eye:
Amnesia!fic where Chauncey does shoot Stede a little bit in the head before offing himself. Stede's marked dead on the logs and the only person who knows who he is is the guard Ed got to lead him into the forest, but admitting he knows who Stede is would be bad for him, so no one knows who he is. Basically Stede doesn't remember anything about his life, becomes a privateer, ends up accidentally unionizing his ship, accidentally on purpose kills his captain who is about to kill Ed. Stede's like, hi nice to meet you, I'm Toby (or something) and then Ed realizes that he doesn't actually know why Stede didn't meet him at the docks? Whoops.
Ed pretends to not be able to read and asks Stede to teach him so they can spend more time together.
Ed's mom is doing great now, actually, and after S1 he runs into his half-sister and meets his stepdad and sees his mom for the first time in 20 years and it's all very angsty and shmoopy
Fic where Ed and Stede are reunited and immediately start arguing/flirting so Izzy stabs Stede in the guts, more angst/shmoop
Jim forgives Ed--They get a letter from Olu via Olivia saying everyone is alright, so Jim's like...how can I fix this, oh hey an opportunity to try killing someone with kindness, been wanting to try that since they heard captain say it. It sounded stupid until they realized the killing was metaphorical. Jim so rarely has the moral high ground so this could be fun.
Sequel/Companion to my Princess Bride fic, missing scenes with Jim, Inigo, and Frenchie in the Fireswamp and the Bermuda Triangle
Post reunion pre-forgiveness, Ed has basically forgiven Stede but he just can't stop being a dick and he's so annoyed at himself about it but that makes him act even more dickish. It's a vicious cycle. (but it's because he hasn't actually talked to Stede yet because he's worried about being too mean and also crying a lot and he knows Stede's going to feel bad, but then he acts like a dick and makes Stede feel just as bad. He is very aware of how ridiculous he's being but can't stop.) Then Ed catches Stede him sneaking into the captains cabin. Turns out there's a secret bookshelf that Ed didn't know about where Stede kept all his favorites. Stede asks if he can take one, Ed just shrugs. Later Stede asks Ed if he can go grab another book and Ed for no real reason tells Stede he threw them all in the ocean. Ed can see the light go out in Stede's eyes, and he's like, no no no fuck that was so mean why did I say that, but then Stede walks away so Ed goes to his cabin to kick the walls. Later that day Lucius is like "heeyyyyy, did you really throw out all Stede's favorite books. Ed's like "...no." L: "yeah, that's what I thought. Could you tell him that? He thinks you hate him now and he's starting to lose all hope, and his will to live has always been tenuous at best--" and Ed's alarmed, now, also fuck it, he doesn't actually want to hurt Stede! Ed finds Stede and drags him into his cabin and then just starts monologuing all his hurts and apologies, and by the end they're both crying but Stede is smiling again and remarks how romantic it all was. The vibe on this is more humor than angst (angst mostly from moping!Stede)

Tartt Sr was what I had in mind when I prompted Jamie spewing blood but a perforated ulcer on top of Tartt Sr sounds so much more harrowing! Wonder how horrified everyone would be seeing that, especially Roy who literally gets painted red! What happens when they learn they were a contributing factor?
Guilt Personified!
That Jamie was struggling so much that it made him sick.
Roy's gonna drop so many f-bombs and not know how to make it up to him, so he's just gonna be there, probably silent and brooding, and Jamie'll be "what the fuck do you want, you big hairy twat?".
And Ted'll be eaten with the guilt of not seeing it, even if he wasn't actually part of it, he was complicit because he didn't do anything to stop it (aside from the whole Led Tasso Shtick), and he'll be supper supportive, while battling his own crippling panic attacks that it causes in him.
Sam will never forgive himself - he even tearfully calls his own dad to tell him how much of a horrible person his son has become, but his dad tells him he's forgiven and loved, and can be a better person by being a better friend, and that's just what he'll do. He'll be a better version of himself, just like Jamie.
Dani feels undeserving of Jamie's friendship, even if Dani has never been anything but 110 % supportive of Jamie and Jamie tells him that.
Isaac and Colin grovel to Jamie and beg for his forgiveness and they go overboard in making sure Jamie gets better (after they have this weird small BFF/group hug and Colin denies that he cries) to the point that Jamie asks Roy for help.
And then it's full circle, because Roy helps get the lads out, but then he's finally, finally able to tell Jamie "I'm sorry, you know. If I contributed to you getting sick" and then to Jamie's horror Roy starts crying too. That subtle crack and strangled voice Roy gets when he tries to pretend he's not crying.
"Fuck, you too Roy!" Jamie says in frustration. Then throws a a cushion at Roy's head. "You can make it up to me by driving me to my next hospital appointment."
And that seals it, Roy drives Jamie to every one of Jamie's appointments at the hospital and with the nutritionist, and if he googles Jamie's medication, and looks up what Jamie can and can't eat and watches Jamie just a little bit more, well no one needs to know, do they?
*not really a plot twist: everyone notices Roy's sudden knowledge on Jamie's medication, and what Jamie can and can't eat and how he obviously starts watching Jamie just a little bit more*

What would you say is the number one all time worst thing Alya has ever done?
What would you say is the number one all time worst thing Adrien has ever done?
(Salt away for us!)
Oof. That’s a tough one.
Hmm, well, I think the answer might be the same for the both of them?
“Miraculous New York”
It’s kind of a combination of all of my issues with them coming together in one disastrous piece.
Alya basically:
- refuses to listen to her BFF’s cry for help to see Adrien as “just a friend” and only feigns doing nothing/helping while in reality scheming in the background to force her together with him
- allows Marinette to be front and center to everyone and essentially peer pressured into dancing with Adrien (seriously, imagine her floating there helplessly with all eyes on her while that music is being played after she’s told Alya herself that she needs help seeing Adrien as a friend, all while everyone’s looking on expectantly for them to do something)
- sets up a scheme to send Marinette away for time with Adrien in a room where an actual akuma ends up showing up, nearly killing both of them and would’ve killed both of them had it not been for their hero statuses; Alya shows no on-screen remorse for this or guilt (even if she couldn’t have known, some guilt would be natural) (also, extra annoyance here because this could’ve been a great mini-arc of Alya seeing the heroes as something to enjoy as a tourist, thus isn’t taking the possibility of villains seriously because she’s lost in her own little world)
- ignores the obvious truth that Marinette’s word would do nothing to make Adrien stay (considering that Nino’s word did nothing and he’s supposedly Adrien’s best friend), ignores the fact that there’s a supervillain running wild and the news is encouraging everyone to stay inside, and ignores that her shipping is what got Marinette in trouble in the first place, all for the sake of pushing for Marinette to chase after Adrien’s car in the rain so she can confess.
- and all of this only ends with Marinette arguably more confused than before and more pressured to go after Adrien (going from “I need help seeing him as just a friend” to “oh, I don’t know...”)
Meanwhile, Adrien:
- is given his first huge task of responsibility by Ladybug to keep Paris safe while she’s gone and inform her if anything goes wrong, then proceeds to throw all of that out the window so he can go to New York with his friends at Plagg’s suggestion
- shows yet again that he can’t maintain focus during an akuma battle nor be careful with his Cataclysm (a consistent flaw of his) as Ladybug rightfully yells at him for something that’s been revealed her mid-battle and right after she sees that Paris is being destroyed with no Chat to protect it; this leads to the akuma taking advantage of his shocked state to Cataclysm Aeon, essentially “killing” her
- throws a pity party over everything and, instead of taking responsibility or talking to Ladybug (y’know, the thing that not doing caused this whole mess in the first place), quits on the spot and leaves Ladybug to clean up his mess as well as eventually face Paris alone for what his decision caused
- only comes back once his ego is thoroughly stroked
And all of this negatively affects Maribug because of course it does. She’s forced into more situations with Adrien when that’s not what she wants (and Astruc blames her for the scene in the rain as if Alya didn’t yell at her over it) and she’s expected to share blame/responsibility for Chat’s actions even after literally bringing Aeon back from “the dead.” Yes, she was angry and took it to the battle, but Paris was being literally destroyed and her parents are still there when she trusted Chat to be there while she was gone. I genuinely don’t think even the most perfect hero would be able to keep their cool in that situation.
Anyway, Alya receives zero consequences for her actions and Chat gets forgiven basically the moment he comes back because “Lies” has them talking aaaaall about how they can trust each other. Chat doesn’t have to actually earn her trust back and Alya is perfectly fine throwing Marinette into danger as long as it’s for the ship.
(just a note that I wouldn’t argue Adrien’s worst action being “Chat Blanc” but “Miraculous New York” was the one with actual implied long-lasting effects rather than a time reversal)

Too much kindness
Watching Chinese dramas made me angry because the villains were forgotten/forgiven and practically came back to harm the heroine.
Marinette had been watching Chinese dramas with her mother and recently, she realized something. The heroines were kind and decided to move on from the hurts their enemies gave them, before being pretty much taken offguard when their enemy striked again.
Marinette thought about her past situations. She agreed to ignore Lila and her declaration of war after Adrien’s advice. The next thing she knew, she got expelled. Even after she was readmitted, Lila practically warned her that their enmity was still there.
And no matter how much Ladybug scolded or gave Chloé second chances, the bully was as vain and mean as ever. I mean, come on, she sided with Hawkmoth. Hawkmoth!
Marinette didn’t want to be taken offguard again, of having to deal with another one of their dramas.
It was time to end their influence and power once and for all.
What were her obstacles?
Lack of influence: Damocles was weak when Chloé threatened to sic the mayor on him or Lila warned that disturbing a diplomat at the embassy was a bad idea.
Solution: Hello, she’s Ladybug. Paris’ beloved heroine. If it came to a public showdown between her and the mayor, given Chloe’s infamy, the public would side with her. And as Lila’s so-called BFF, Ladybug can easily shut down that nonsense with a little help from some celebrities who would be glad to help her. Jagged and Clara are fans of hers.
Then there was Adrien. Marinette quailed at the idea of disappointing him. She hated to do that. But if it was between his disapproval (Tikki reminded Marinette that he is still friends with the class after they celebrated Chloé moving to New York, so he’ll be fine) or another impending incident where Marinette is in trouble....ok it took a while for her to settle on the second option. But she’s crazy when it comes to Adrien.
Besides, her priority is that he like Marinette, not Ladybug. Even though she really wants him to like both aspects of her.
So even if he disapproves of Ladybug, at least he’ll still be Marinette’s friend.
And who knows, if Lila or Chloé succeed at their next round, he might hate her too! So really, the second option is better, right? (Tikki: right!)
When all the public exposure was over (basically Alya live-streamed Ladybug demanding Damocles be a proper principal and stop letting Chloé off the hook or blindly believing Lila)
Surprisingly Chat Noir was fine with Lila’s exposure and admitted he found out she faked an injury during Onii Chan’s attack.
Ladybug stared at her partner. “And you just left me with her?”
Chat’s upcoming lecture about how Chloé should be given another chance was halted at the accusation in her eyes. “It’s not like she could hurt you.”
Ladybug: she can still try to steal my earrings if I actually had to send her home. What the hell, Chat? Why didn’t you tell me this?
Chat: i didn’t want you to get any angrier with her.
Ladybug: so you’d rather I believe Lila had forgiven me when she really rather I get impaled by a sword?
Chat: i...i...
Ladybug: you know what, don’t talk to me again until you can prove you actually have my back. I don’t need a partner like you. I need someone I can actually count on.
Chat flinched.
Ladybug swung away angrily.
While Tikki tried to get Marinette to calm down and forgive Chat, she replied, “I could have died Tikki. Died. Like Joan did.”
Tikki stopped. Ok, so maybe Chat did need to think things through.
Adrien asked Plagg what he should do.
Plagg yawned. “Quit being so wishy washy. You need to pick a side and stay there.”
Adrien: but I don’t want to hurt anyone
Plagg: you think Ladybug wanted to humiliate others? She gave Chloé and Lila another chance and apologized or whatever. They didn’t learn. So she finally put her foot down.
Adrien: they would have learned, in time
Plagg: but we are at war with Hawkmoth. Chloé creating more negative emotions is not good. And neither is letting Lila grow in influence. Better to stop a problem now before it grows worse.
Adrien: there had to have been a better way.
Plagg: well, it certainly wasn’t your way. Chloé is still mean to your friends and even worked with Hawkmoth! and Lila got pigtails expelled. Do you honestly still think your way is the best way?
Adrien:...it wasn’t the right answer. But neither is Ladybug’s.
Plagg: well, we gave your way a shot. Let’s see if the bug’s way is the right answer.
Chloé had been sentenced for allying with a terrorist. She was sent to a correctional facility due to her age, but she was banned from Paris. What a scandal this caused the mayor.
Lila had been discredited and was currently grounded by her furious mother. Everyone knew her now, just not in the way she wished. She had been fired by Gabriel. And since Ladybug learned the truth from Chat, she was insistent Lila go away because she won’t risk another Chloé incident with her.
With Chloé gone, the class certainly was happier. Adrien was the exception, but Marinette reminded him he could visit Chloé. The latter asked for Adrien to help bail her out. Gabriel forbade it since associating with Chloé would ruin his image. And Chloé doesn’t help from a mangy cat.
With Lila exposed, eh life went on as normal and Adrien wasn’t sorry for her.
Akumas came and went but Ladybug treated Chat professionally.
Chat wanted her to talk to him but he was still unhappy about the Chloé situation. Plagg told him to just choose a side already. He was miserable when all his friends were happy.
Plagg: why do you care about Chloé anyway? If you were just a normal boy, she wouldn’t even look at you. She only befriended you because of your father, hence why you were worthy of her friendship.
It struck home. After all the insults Chloé threw Chat’s way, this question finally hit true.
Adrien began to doubt his friendship with Chloé. And it was enough for him to choose a side.
Chat called Ladybug and explained that he was upset with her charges against Chloé but he trusted her and will support her even if he doesn’t agree entirely with her decision.
Ladybug raised a brow. “It’s a start.”
And Ladybug’s plan was a success. Chloé and Lila were no longer around to cause trouble for her. They were being punished until they learned to correct their ways.
When Gabriel was suspected after the theory of “what if Hawkmoth can akumatize himself?” came up, Plagg reminded Adrien to choose a side. If his father is really Hawkmoth, can Ladybug count on him?
When faced with this fact, Adrien admitted he could not. He has personal feelings about this and he can’t be biased.
Plagg: does that mean you’ll hinder her investigation?
Adrien paused. If he did, and if his father was Hawkmoth, would he be aiding a terrorist?
No.
Personal feelings aside, Adrien does have morals. He cannot condone what Hawkmoth has done.
Conviction renewed, Chat joins Ladybug’s investigation with zeal. He wants to put his all into this investigation because if his father is really Hawkmoth, Adrien hopes to stop him from committing any more heinous acts, and save his father from himself.

I know I already wrote an entire essay on this, and not to be incredibly salty again or anything but its still genuinely baffling to me
so like Caithe keeps a secret from the commander to try and prevent the massacre of her people after spending the past like 2 decades being encouraged to hide this from everyone (and possibly manipulated) by the pale tree, and while being actively manipulated by mordremoth. Like shes genuinely doing her best in an impossible to win situation, and she's absolutely reviled by a good portion of them fandom for it
but then Ratlock keeps a massive secret from the commander, and everyone else, for... no good reason that he ever states, like just because he can, well after the life or death situation of HoT, and he just gets forgiven, even though his secret has at least an equivalent death toll and protected no one but him
like I get why it might be hard to say "hey my people were made by the dragon but we've broken free of its control please dont slaughter all of us we're so young and defenseless"
I don't get why this man who wants us to think of him as our bff couldnt be like "hey so I saw a massive guy with control over the flames of war break free of imprisonment and open a portal into tyria, fleeing his obvious captivity so maybe you should keep an eye peeled buddy"

since chloe was back in the gabriel episode it really got me frustrated about the choices for her character again hhhehhegheghugh
on the one hand, i don’t mind her redemption getting cut off. she’s been utterly horrid to everyone around her, particularly marinette and alya, which shouldn’t just be forgiven with the kind of run-time development this show has. and telling young kids that bullies can’t always change and it’s not your job to fix them is pretty important.
buuuut that’s also a frustrating aspect of her character that was baked in long before she got the bee miraculous. ofc it’s a silly, simple kids show with a serial format and chloe was an easy way to akumatise a lot of people but... she’s a kid with terrible parents and there was clearly SOMETHING changing when she was trusted with the bee miraculous.
her being like... the first person to say “fuck off” to hawkmoth because she actually valued ladybug’s trust was actually kind of a big deal that feels very undermined by her heel turn at the end of the season. it feels worse that they introduced a random half-sister to take her place on the team - one without any development and honestly quite terrible character writing. zoe could have been interesting if it hadn’t been clear as mud that her “i guess i’ll be mean to fit in” act wasn’t slapped on after the viewer had already been assured she was not Another Chloe.
if anything, it’s frustrating that chloe had the most actual development of any character in the show. the others are pretty static or seem to switch between states depending on the needs of the episode. but they spent all this time actually changing chloe as a person only to drop all of that sldkfdjg couldn’t you have instead like... given alya more to do than be marinette’s bff, or sat chat down about his ladybug-feelings earlier, or like any other flaw adrien is just allowed to have unquestioned when marinette has to be perfect----
i mean shit, maybe that time could have been spent making lila actually cunning instead of turning the people around her into total fools regardless of their characters to make her look clever. literally no one should believe the “my uncle doesn’t just work for nintendo - he’s ceo” level lies she was telling - certainly not the adults, marinette, alya, adrien or chloe at least

Anatomy of a scene: (3) worst apology ever (NHIE 2.07)
After two emotionally heavy scenes (part 1, part 2), perhaps it’s time for a little palate cleanser. Today we’ll dissect Devi’s ill-conceived apology dance from NHIE 2.07.
Tumblr media
The prelude
Remember back when Aneesa was first introduced in 2.04, and Trent was like
“Aneesa’s like Devi 2.0! No offense, Devi 1.0″
And here’s how the class reacted:
Tumblr media
Everyone in the classroom was laughing at Trent’s joke. Well, almost everyone. Observe the way Ben was clearly the only person who did not find this subtly racist joke amusing at all:
Tumblr media
Why am I telling you this? No particular reason... just thought I should remind you what kind of person Ben Gross is, just in case it isn’t clear to you yet by this point. But let’s proceed.
The cricket dance
One afternoon in Fall 2019, Aneesa was walking in the school corridor when she heard some awful noise. It turned out to be the entire school marching band, with Devi’s two bad friends best friends Eleanor and Fabiola leading the way, cheerleading.
Tumblr media
You’d be forgiven for thinking “oh boy, this can’t be good”, because newsflash, it wasn't. Ben clearly did not think so. Notice that Ben’s first reaction was to immediately looked over at Aneesa, to make sure she was okay.
Tumblr media
You know, for someone who has little real-world experience in the field of friendship — given his lack of friends — it’s remarkable how much Ben invests himself in others, as actor Jaren Lewison observed:
“[Ben] really does care, and you see a lot of those really sweet Ben and Devi moments. Or moments with Aneesa, when he really does care and show just how much he invests in others.  But he’s afraid of getting hurt” — JL (x)
Tumblr media
This awful spectacle continued, and both Aneesa (the target) and Ben (a complete bystander) became progressively more horrified by the second.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, BFFs of the year (*sarcasm*) Eleanor and Fabiola were completely oblivious to this and clearly thought this was a brilliant idea. I’d grade them both A’s for their commitment though.
Tumblr media
Devi finally emerged in the cricket mascot.
Tumblr media
Everyone in the hallway was enjoying the spectacle (many recording it with their cell phones), except Ben and Aneesa.
Tumblr media
The cricket dance continued. Ben:
Tumblr media
Thank goodness, this nightmare was finally over!
Tumblr media
Ben and Aneesa still looked like they had just seen a ghost. Who could blame them?
Tumblr media
Devi: “Neesa! Don’t go to another school because you know you’re a cricket in your heart!”
Aneesa: “Is this your way of apologizing to me?”
Ben was visibly very worried about Aneesa by this point.
Tumblr media
Devi: “Yeah... did you not see the sign?”
Look at Ben’s face. He could not believe what he was hearing.
Tumblr media
Aneesa was so done with this, and stormed off looking like she was moments away from crying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Aneesa gone, Ben finally had his chance to say something.
Tumblr media
In what world was that a good apology?
I thought she would like it, and I worked really hard on the dance!
Plus, her supposed best friends clearly thought it was a brilliant ides too, and they supported and aided and abetted her through all of it.
We ended the scene with this plea from a clearly and extremely disappointed Ben:
Tumblr media
David..... use your brain!
Because he knew that Devi was a smarter and better person than this. But Ben, I think she left her brain in Malibu the day you brought her there and had forgotten to pick it up.
I thought this scene was so intriguing because rather than being its focal point, Ben was clearly a bystander throughout most of it. However, as I hope I have demonstrated today, a highly skilled actor like Mr. Lewison never wastes precious screen time and always uses it to their advantage, continuing to build their character even from the sidelines. As director Marcus Geduld observed:
It’s fascinating to watch actors when they’re not speaking.
Some are too caught up in ego or technicalities (e.g., trying to remember the next line) to totally focus on whomever it is they’re acting with.
[Great actors] seem to register everything they hear. You can see whatever is being said to them physically affecting them, as if the words are slapping them across the face.

Good evening! Do you know any good enemies with benefits drarry fics? Thank you
hi anon! Y E S i love the enemies with bennys trope especially when it’s not just pure hate sex but like...reluctant confidant who im gonna engage purely out of spite?? frenemies to lovers if u will. they’re both getting something (sex, verbal sparring partner, emotional punching bag, wound healer) from the other while still having major unresolved feelings of resentment until the inevitable breaking point where they must Adress Things. anyway here’s a short list :)
Harry Potter Gives a Shit by @talithan - 58k, M
“Where are you headed?” “No place special,” Draco fumbled, and flushed further. But then: “I can change that,” said Harry Potter.
a remorseful draco who develops feelings after hooking up with an extremely messy and shitty harry who is dealing with his anger, hurt, abandonment issues, general trauma, etc. in the most selfish and reckless way possible. harry’s truly the Worst in this. his family (ginny, granger, weasleys) are written really well bc they 1) unconditionally love him but 2) are extremely done with his shit. on the other hand, draco will take what he can get bc he wants to be loved, cares a lot about harry, and knows he’s being mistreated but can’t bring himself to leave. they’re angsty fuck buddies for a while until inevitably, harry starts to fall in love with the draco everyone else has already accepted as a friend. u will read this and need to take several naps after but it’s worth it. mostly because it’s refreshing to read a version of harry that isn’t heroic or morally rigid but very sad and says things like “you make me want to let you take care of me” ....p a i n
Kiss The Joy (Until the Sunrise) by @icmezzo - 37k, M
The Room of Requirement was severely damaged in the war, but not so much that it could not provide for one lost student and another young hero—especially when they needed each other most of all.
it’s set immediately after the battle. they both want to hide but they’re met with the one person who will absolutely not let them rest. they hate each other. there’s hexing and shouting and sneering. but their resentment doesn’t stop them from benefiting from the other’s presence. the sentient room somehow provides an escape but also an opportunity for absolution. they talk even though they’ve nothing kind to say at first. they tend each other’s wounds even though they haven’t quite quenched their mutual bloodlust. it’s sleep-deprived, nightmare-haunted, hungry, lonely boys who grow to see that the other has what they need.
Strangeness and Charm by @drarrytrash - 45k, M
One November night during his eighth year at Hogwarts, Draco ends up in the forbidden forest. That’s how it starts.
or: If two boys fall in love in a magical forest, does it still make a sound?
one of my all time favorite fics in general (and feels complementary to Kiss The Joy). it’s the surreality of insomnia, a sentient mysterious forest, a chance to talk about things plainly in the twilight zone where they can pretend they don’t hate each other in real life. it’s an atmospheric dream of a fic that’s asking two very angry boys to suspend their disbelief and consider: what would it be like if you weren’t awful to each other? (also them reading twenty thousand leagues under the sea, a book where jules verne writes about the ocean as if she were sentient, the embodiment of love and emotion?? as the forbidden forest herself orchestrates harry and draco’s love story?? shutUP intertextuality) — anyway i would die for this fic it’s perfect
IDK My BFF Hermione? by @letteredlettered - 19k, E
"Because you're common too, aren't you." Malfoy seemed insistent; it was not a question. "You're just as disgusting and vulgar as I am."
"Yes."
"We were never any different, were we."
"No," Harry said, and kissed him.
—Draco's a hot mess. Harry's lovin' it (hell yes).—
all the war kids were robbed of their childhoods so this is their delayed rebellious phase (bc revolting against the government, although metal af, doesn’t count). ur gonna try and tell harry that he Shouldn’t lust after draco’s eyeliner? hmm good luck bitch. it’s lots and lots of steamy hate sex and general recklessness but also humanizing conversations about the longing to be good, free, desirable, wanted, forgiven, respected, seen but not hypervisible, left alone but not lonely. what begins as “im using u for pleasure bc i was denied this since birth” becomes “u make me feel like im not wrong for wanting things that make me happy” —because why write pure smut when u can write weepy philosophical smut😌

I Don’t Want To Wait, eleven
Tumblr media
rowaelin high school bff au masterlist
Based on the prompt:
“Person A falls into Person B’s lap”
A crowd of screaming students streamed past the window as Aelin slouched down at her desk. The last day of school was supposed to mean early release, ice cream down by the pier and finally celebrating two whole months of freedom.
But not today. Not for Aelin. Instead, she was in hell.
She barely paid attention as Principal Havilliard explained their detention task, though she didn’t miss her fellow detentionee’s groans as he spilled the ancient library card catalogue onto the floor, his foot shuffling them even further out of order.
“I have paperwork I’ll be doing in my office right next door, and I will notice if this door opens one inch. You have three hours to put these cards back in order,” he smirked, his boot-covered foot shoving the cards around some more. “See you all at seven.”
Aelin glanced over at Rowan, hoping for any kind of assurance, but just like the last twenty hours, he refused to acknowledge her. She knew she’d screwed up; she wasn’t sure she’d ever felt so awful as when she saw Rowan’s red-rimmed eyes pick her up for school this morning. She’d apologized profusely, over and over until she wasn’t sure she could apologize anymore, but he just shrugged stiffly and refused to look at her. It had felt like the longest day of her life, and it still wasn’t over.
“Some for youuu,” Dorian cooed, scooping up the cards from the floor and plopping a pile onto Rowan’s desk.
“Some for youuu,” he continued around the room, distributing cards to Manon, who Aelin had been not entirely surprised to see in detention. Dorian dumped the remainder of cards on his and Aelin’s desks, smartly avoiding an already-napping Lorcan in the back corner of the room.
“It’ll be finished fastest if we separate by letter, and then organize each letter,” Dorian explained.
Manon laughed as she started sorting. “Your dad make you do this on your free time?” she asked.
“You know it, babe,” he said with a wink. “Nah,” he said, shaking his head with a wry smile. “My dad just loves giving me detention.”
Dorian kicked up his feet onto the desk as he began his sorting, aimlessly chatting with Manon.
As Aelin began her own sorting, she glanced over at Rowan again. He was dutifully separating his own piles, shoulders tensed, as if he could feel Aelin’s gaze on him, his own eyes boring holes into the desk in front of him, refusing to look up. She hoped against all hopes that he’d look up and all would be forgiven, but she knew that wasn’t likely. Fuck. She’d really fucked up. She had no idea what to do or say to make it better. She felt entirely out of her depth. Rowan had never ignored her for this long, and she was starting to feel like a drug addict going through withdrawal. She was tweaking, in desperate need of any kind of acknowledgment – a flash of his dark green eyes, a smile, a nod… anything.
Instead, they sat in tense silence, the only sound the shuffling of index cards. The minutes ticked by, endlessly, and Aelin could feel herself growing more frustrated with Rowan’s silence with every passing second. She knew she was about to burst.
“L’s are done,” Rowan said, pushing a stack of index cards to the corner of his desk. Manon collected them and dropped them onto the front desk, adding them to her own pile.
Aelin glanced at the giant wall clock. 4:45. Only two hours and fifteen minutes more of the silent treatment. She groaned and placed her head down on the desk.
“Okay, what’s going on with you two?” Dorian asked, pointing at Aelin and Rowan. Rowan’s back stiffened, going ram-rod straight as he frowned at Dorian’s question. “Aren’t you supposed to be best friends?”
Rowan scrunched his nose up and finally, finally glanced toward Aelin. The pain in his eyes nearly knocked Aelin out. She inhaled sharply, biting on her lip, trying to hold back the onslaught of emotions just a look from Rowan caused.
“We are best friends,” Rowan mumbled, causing the knot in Aelin’s chest to unfurl slightly.
“Then again,” Dorian smirked. “I repeat. What’s going on with you two?” he asked. “Because you’re kind of acting like you hate each other.”
“We don’t hate each other,” Aelin burst out, her heart pounding.
Rowan frowned, finally putting all his attention on her. “I don’t know,” he began. “What you did was pretty hateful.”
Aelin leaned toward him, her voice hoarse with desperation. “And I said I was sorry a million times. I’m sorry,” she said again.
“Ooh,” Dorian perched himself on a desk between the fighting pair, looking back and forth at the dueling friends. “Should we all talk it out?”
“No,” Rowan snapped, going back to his card organization.
“Boo,” Manon jeered, joining in on what Aelin would rather not have as a group discussion, causing a bright smile to appear on Dorian’s face. He was living for this drama, apparently. “Kind of sounds like you two just need to kiss and make up.”
Aelin’s cheeks flushed at the mention of kissing, which she tried to push down immediately, covering her face with her loose hair.
“Mind your own business,” Rowan frowned, bravely talking back to Manon in a way that Aelin was sure would get him snapped at. But instead, a feral grin appeared on Manon’s face as she twirled a piece of her white blonde hair with a long nail.
“Oh come on. I dare you.”
“What?” he asked.
“I dare you to kiss Aelin,” Manon repeated smugly.
She raised her eyebrows at Rowan, who’s lips turned down even further.
“Don’t be stupid,” Rowan said, rolling his eyes. Aelin stomach hurt with how fast he’d dismissed the idea. “I’m not kissing Aelin on a dare.”
“Why not?” Dorian asked. “I will.”
Dorian slid off his desk and leaned over Aelin’s. Aelin leaned back, laughing softly at Dorian’s half-hearted attempt to bring his lips closer to her face, and swatted him away.
“Very mature,” Rowan grumbled, tugging his fingers through his hair as he glared in Aelin’s direction again.
“Oh, come on,” Dorian prodded. “We all need a break anyway. Let’s play truth or dare.”
Rowan scoffed loudly, never stopping organizing his cards on his desk. “What are we, in seventh grade?”
“Don’t be a pussy, Whitethorn,” Lorcan called out from the back corner of the room. Everyone’s heads whipped around at the sound of his gravelly voice. Aelin watched with curiosity as he stood, his large arms stretching overhead as he cracked his back and neck loudly.
“Truth or dare,” Manon chanted. “Truth or dare! Truth or dare!”
Aelin laughed as Dorian and Lorcan both joined in, slowly approaching Rowan’s desk until he was surrounded.
“Fine!” he shouted.
“Great!” Dorian ruffled Rowan’s hair, earning another disgruntled frown from the blonde. “Manon, truth or dare?”
“Dare!” she answered excitedly.
“I dare you to flash us,” Dorian said with a devilish smile, causing Manon to roll her eyes.
“Boys.” She shook her head. “So fucking predictable.”
Her voice was deadpan, but she fulfilled the dare regardless, lifting her shirt to show the room her black bra. The boys’ jaws dropped slightly, completely silent as she pulled her shirt back down and fluffed her hair, completely unphased.
“Lorcan,” Manon drawled. Before she could even ask the question, he puffed out his chest and grinned.
“Dare.”
“Why am I not surprised?”
Her golden eyes glowed as she pretended to think over her question. “I dare you to kiss Dorian,” she gleamed, showing off a perfect row of white teeth.
Lorcan merely rolled his eyes again. “What, you think I’m going to get all no-homo, as if I haven’t had a threesome with another dude before?” Manon shrugged. “C’mere, pretty boy, gimme a kiss.” Lorcan laughed as Dorian mimed pointing to himself, as if to ask Who, me?
Aelin blushed furiously. She knew that seniors were more experienced than she was. Well, a lot of people were more experienced than she was. But a threesome? She could feel herself heat up as Lorcan slid his hand into Dorian’s hair and placed his mouth over his for a hard kiss. Dorian’s mouth moved in tandem with the senior’s, until Lorcan left him with a soft press of his lips and a cocky grin.
Dorian cleared his throat. “I mean, I get it,” he admitted. “Why everyone’s lining up to fuck you.”
“Not everyone,” Lorcan said, flashing his dark eyes at Manon for a loaded second. Aelin remembered all of Manon’s callous rejections and wondered if there was more to the story than they were seeing. She was so wrapped up in trying to figure it out that she barely even registered when Lorcan turned his attention to her.
Lorcan grinned widely. “Aelin, truth or dare?”
“Umm…” She paused. It was no secret that Lorcan wasn’t her biggest fan. And she had a feeling he was getting ready to torture her. She had no desire to flash an audience or kiss anyone but Rowan, so she decided to go with the safer answer.
“Truth,” she answered nervously.
“Who in school are you hottest for?” he asked.
“What?” Aelin squeaked, her voice going unnaturally high as all eyes turned to her.
“Who in school are you hottest for?” Lorcan repeated. “Who do you lust after? Who do you think about when you listen to I Touch Myself?”
Aelin’s mouth dropped as she gaped like a fish. “I…I…” Her cheeks burned as she scanned the faces in front of her, trying not to pause on the dark green eyes that were suddenly rife with curiosity. “Did I say truth? I meant dare,” she said, changing tactics.
Lorcan rolled his eyes and motioned this thumb downward. “Booo.” He made a raspberry sound with his lips as he stuck out his tongue. “Fine, I dare you to give one of us… whoever you want… a sexy lap dance for thirty seconds.”
“I don’t know how to do that!” Aelin croaked out, getting more stressed by the second. She’d have to choose someone. She wanted to choose Rowan, of course. She’d be most comfortable being close to him like that, but she hated that he was still so mad at her. She didn’t want to risk upsetting him even more.
“One or the other. We’re waiting, Aelin,” Lorcan drawled.
The room silenced as Aelin stood and looked at the four students sitting in front of her, laps ready and waiting for her. She was about to take a step toward Rowan when his eyes went to the floor, avoiding her gaze, and she redirected, stepping in front of Manon.
Aelin glanced over her shoulder. “I wish I had music,” she complained.
“I’ve got you,” Lorcan smirked, pulling out his phone from his back pocket. Of course he’d smuggled his into detention. He cued up some rap song with a thumping bass that Aelin wasn’t familiar with, and she took a deep breath as she pretended she didn’t have an audience.
Her hips swayed side to side, dipping lower.
“Lap dance means on her lap, prude,” Lorcan shouted, and Aelin resisted the urge to glare at him over her shoulder. Instead, she got closer to Manon, pushing her legs wider as she awkwardly shimmied between them. She turned around and leaned her head back as she felt Manon’s hands at her sides, helping her maintain her balance as she dipped low to the ground.
“Annnd… time,” Dorian said, clapping loudly as Manon threw Aelin a wink. Adrenaline pounding through her shaky legs, Aelin barely stood upright before tripping over Manon’s extended foot and plopping into Rowan’s lap.
He stood nearly as soon as she fell, hands firmly placed around her waist as he shoved her away from him. “Gods, Aelin, be careful!” he reprimanded her, and Aelin felt tears prick at her eyes. Rowan had never acted like this with her before. He’d said she was still his best friend earlier, but now she wasn’t too sure. His eyes were stormy with upset. All she wanted was for him to smile again.
“Sorry,” she mumbled her apology, and he awkwardly shook her off. It was then she realized it wa her turn. To ask Rowan.
“Rowan,” she said, her voice shaky. “Truth or dare.”
“Truth…” he answered carefully.
“What else do I need to do to make this better?” she asked. She just needed an answer. Anything to do to repair what she’d clearly destroyed.
“I don’t know,” he shrugged.
Dorian made a loud buzzer sound. “That’s not a satisfactory answer.”
“Even if I really don’t know?” Rowan answered, exasperated. Dorian shook his head, and Rowan practically growled in frustration.
“Your original dare still stands,” Manon said, sing-song. “You can always decide to kiss Aelin.”
“Fine,” Rowan said, causing Aelin’s heart to skip a beat.
“What?” her eyes widened, clearly not hearing right.
“I’m taking the dare,” Rowan said with an annoyed glare. “I’m kissing you.”
Aelin wished the ground would open and swallow her whole. She didn’t want Rowan to kiss her on a dare. That was not how she’d imagined that happening. Especially not while he was so mad at her.
“No!” Aelin exclaimed, chest thumping wildly as panic flooded her system.
“No?” Manon scoffed.
“I don’t consent to this dare!” she squeaked out.
Rowan wound his arms tightly across his chest, clearly getting more annoyed with Aelin by the second. “It’s just a kiss. It doesn’t mean anything.”
Maybe not to you, she wanted to scream. But instead, she swallowed back the lump in her throat and nodded softly. Rowan visibly relaxed at her agreement, but as soon as he started to lean forward, Aelin couldn’t help but think how wrong it all was. She didn’t want her first kiss with Rowan to be because of a stupid dare. She wanted him to want to kiss her. And she certainly didn’t want an audience for it. She’d imagined kissing Rowan so many times, but never in her wildest dreams had she imagined it would happen like this.
His lips had barely brushed hers when Aelin turned her head to the side, so his mouth landed just beyond the corner of her lips, making full contact with her cheek instead.
“Burn,” Lorcan cackled loudly, causing a flood of embarrassment to rush through her.
“Sorry,” Aelin whispered.
“S’fine,” Rowan mumbled, his cheeks stained with red as he looked anywhere but her.
“Kisses mean something to me,” she finally said.
“Spoken like a real virgin,” Lorcan heckled, and Aelin could feel herself shrink even further. Rowan spun around on his heel, his chest heaving as he unleashed on his teammate.
“What is your fucking problem, man?” Rowan spat as Lorcan stoically raised a dark brow in his direction. “I get it, she made you look like an idiot, wounded your manhood or whatever, but you need to let up.”
Lorcan held his hands up in mock surrender and meandered back to his seat, grumbling something about “stupid sophomores.”
Rowan sat loudly back at his desk, clearly seething as he began shuffling through his index cards again. Aelin flushed with relief at his defense of her. She wanted to throw her arms around him and thank him, but instead she threw him a grateful glance, which he accepted with a small nod. It wasn’t a smile, but she’d take it.
“Game over?” Dorian asked, and Manon nodded quickly, retreating to her desk.
“Virginity is just a concept, anyway. Don’t let anyone convince you that you’re losing anything when you have sex,” Manon said too loudly in Aelin’s direction. “It’s a sexist concept created by men to boost them up and control women’s bodies. Sex means different things to different people, and anyone who tries to make you feel bad about your sexual experience or lack of it deserves a special place in hell.”
Aelin had never appreciated someone as much as she did Manon in that moment. Lorcan pretended not to listen and shoved his earbuds further into his ear, slumping back into his seat.
“Thanks,” Aelin said quietly, and Manon shrugged.
The four of them worked quietly for the remaining hour of detention, shuffling the cards back into alphabetical order with methodical ease.
When Principal Havilliard returned at 7pm on the dot, Aelin sighed with relief. “Have a good summer,” he said, effectively dismissing them and walking out the door.
Aelin lingered, hoping to steal a moment with Rowan, but it seemed that he was anxious to get somewhere else.
“Glad I’ll never have to deal with you again,” Lorcan mocked as he made his way to the door. “Fire breathing bitch,” he hissed, passing her by.
Fury steamed at his words, and Aelin stood quickly, wanting to launch herself at him. Her fist reared back, ready to punch, but it was restrained as Rowan stepped in front of her and took his own swing, his fist cracking loudly against Lorcan’s nose.
Blood dribbled from the nose as Lorcan staggered backward, laughing maniacally. “Oh man,” he laughed. “Good for you, Whitethorn,” he said as he wiped the blood away with the back of his hand. “See ya never,” he said, glancing between the two of them and giving a half-hearted salute.
Rowan hissed as he clutched at his fist. “Fuck, that shit really hurts.”
“Rowan!” Aelin raced to his side to assess his reddened knuckles. She pressed against the skin gently, checking for broken bones, and he loosened his fist, letting her examine each finger carefully. She glanced up at him, and he was watching her with a cautious gaze. But when she went to remove her hand from his, he squeezed her fingers softly.
“You didn’t have to do that,” she said, squeezing his fingers back lightly. “But thank you.”
“He was pissing me off,” Rowan replied.
“I’m so sorry, Rowan,” Aelin said again, and Rowan sighed loudly as he stretched out his sore fingers.
“I know you are, Ace.” He rubbed at his face. “It’s just going to take me a while you get the image of your dead body out of my head. It was… fucked up.”
Aelin was about to apologize again when Rowan stopped her. “And I know you’re sorry. But I’m allowed to be mad for a while, okay?”
Aelin nodded in understanding.
“Well,” Aelin cleared her throat. “Thanks for defending me, even when you’re mad at me.”
Rowan finally cracked a smile; it was the most beautiful thing Aelin had ever seen. “Yeah, well, as infuriating as you might be, no one is allowed to talk shit about you. Except me, of course.”
“Of course,” Aelin replied too quickly. She tried to hide her smile, but she couldn’t. Just a small amount of attention from Rowan, and she felt her heart mending itself.
Rowan groaned, frustrated. “How do you do that?”
“What?” Aelin asked, perplexed.
“Like, two minutes ago, I was still furious with you!” He exclaimed, exasperated. “And now…”
“And now you’re… not?” Aelin asked, hopefully as they made their way to their lockers to collect their things. The school was eerily empty, everyone long gone to their first night of summer plans.
“Just. Never again, Aelin.” She nodded rapidly. “I’m serious.”
“Want to get that truce dinner?” she asked. “I felt too guilty last night to eat anything.”
As if on cue, Rowan’s phone buzzed with an incoming text. And Aelin had a feeling she knew exactly who it was from. “Unless you have somewhere else to be?”
“Nope,” he said, shoving the phone into his pocket.
“I can’t believe we’ve both punched Lorcan Salvaterre,” Aelin giggled as he led them out to his car.
“Just call us Rocky I and Rocky II,” Rowan said, draping his arm across her shoulders, causing Aelin to laugh wildly.
“That’s not their names.”
“They’re not?” he asked. “Then why are the movies called that?”
Aelin shook her head and leaned into his side. As she and Rowan bantered about the movies he clearly needed to watch in the near future, Aelin finally had hopes for the future. It was going to be a good summer. She just knew it.

I have been thinking about how people say that's unfair how Varian had to go to prison, while Cassandra got away without much consequences. So here's what I think (because you need another unwanted opinion about this lol sorry).
basically I think the most important thing there is Rapunzel, and her presence during the punishments. Through out the series there are two people who can be considered the rulers: Frederic in season 1-2 and Rapunzel in season 3. And there is a big difference of how Frederic rules his kingdom, and how Rapunzel rules her kingdom.
So first things first, let's talk about Frederic.
In the BEA, Lady Caine mentions how her father was thrown in the jail for a petty theft, and judging from her demeanor and how they treat the whole thing, I think it's safe to assume that her dad was either exiled or died in prison since Caine is very upset and up for revenge and everyone is acting as if her father is permanently gone. This happened because Frederic was so upset over losing Rapunzel that he pretty much threw everyone in jail from the smallest crime, and even in the series we see that he is very (over)protective of his family.
In the movie when Eugene stole the crown (not only a precious object but important memento of the lost princess), he is about to get hanged for his crimes.
So, Frederic had ruled the kingdom with an iron fist. What's changed? Rapunzel.
Eugene is forgiven because he is Rapunzel's bf and also because he brought her home which basically gives him a free pass in Corona. We see that he is still very much wanted criminal in many other places, but in Corona, no, not really. This is probably the same reason why the thugs of Snuggly Duckling are not in prison at any point: because they are Rapunzel's friends, and Rapunzel is there to defend them.
In the episode where everyone blamed Attilla for destroying Monty's shop, Rapunzel went out of her way to defend him and prove that he was innocent in order to save him from prison.
The thugs also say directly that not everyone is willing to give them a second  change like Rapunzel did, and that is why they themselves go so far to help and protect her.
In  the QFAD when Varian comes to ask Rapunzel fro her help, Rapunzel is in difficult situation, where she has  to decide between helping her friends and keeping them safe, and the best interest of her kingdom. Tho' not her or his fault, Varian is after this episode treated as a criminal, having wanted posters and being accused of attacking Rapunzel, and Rapunzel helped him commit treason in order to help him.
Varian was arrested and last interaction we see between him and Rapunzel, altho' indirect, is  Varian being taken away as Rapunzel asks for her dad to not be too hard on him. And then she leaves on her journey to get that sweet destiny baby!
So, unlike in other scenarios, this time Rapunzel is not present when Varian meets the consequences of his actions, and she apparently was not even aware what happened to him after SOTSD until she returned, which means that she was not there to affect his punishment at all.
Who was there tho'? Frederic.
At this point Frederic has been a little too drigger happy to yeet people in jail, and I can somewhat understand that after Varian threatened to kill his wife and his daugher in front of him, he probably went straight back to the way he was before Rapunzel returned home, because this time Rapunzel was not there to protect her friends against the unfair laws and judgement.
Then Cassandra turns bad, and during that time Rapunzel acts pretty much same way she did with Varian: She tries to reason with her, she avoids conflict, but she still defends the people who she has to, even if that means she has to give Cassandra some though love and make her understand that what she is doing is not ok.
But when Cassandra turns to the side of good again, she isn't taken to custody or punished, but is forgiven and can go her own way to find her own destiny. Why?
When she was done being a bad guy, not only was Rapunzel present making the decision, but was also acting Queen, and on top of that, Eugene was the captain of the guard. Two very high authorities. So this time around not only was Rapunzel in charge but also present when Cass was to face her actions. Not only are Cassandra's friends there to make an active and immediate decision, but they have more power to affect the outcome, unlike the time when Varian was in jail.
And that's basically why I think that Cass was free to go, while Varian wasn't. Not because favoritism (altho' I guess it's safe to say that Cass gets a bit of special treatment for being bffs with Raps), but I think it's because Rapunzel actually wasn't there to defend Varian and wasn't in charge like she was in season 3, and had no idea that Frederic didn't follow through with his promise to get Varian the help he needed.
Shame on you, Freddy, shame.

Fights [L.H.]
WARNINGS: Mentions of domestic violence; Swearing
“So, what happened between you and Y/N?” Calum asked Luke as he sat down on the couch next to him. Luke has been staying with Calum for a week but had never told him why, just that the two of you weren’t getting along.
“Nothing,” Luke all but growled at his band mate.
“Really? Because she’s avoiding all of our calls, won’t answer the door at her flat, and has been M.I.A. on social media for almost a week. Y/BFF/N says she’s will hardly text her back,” Calum told him. You always responded to Y/BFF/N. The two of you were hardly separated, much less not speaking to each other. “What’s up?”
“We had a fight,” Luke mumbled.
“One fight caused her to shut everyone out?” Calum asked.
“Fine, we had a few fights. The last one got heated and-and I hit her,” Luke admitted, looking down at the floor.
“You hit her?” Calum yelled, jumping to his feet. “What the fuck were you thinking?”
“I wasn’t!” Luke yelled back. “I wasn’t thinking! I fucked up, okay? I know!”
Calum didn’t respond but instead went to his car and climbed in, driving to your apartment. When you heard someone knocking on the door, you ignored it. You didn’t get off the couch. You didn’t pause the movie. When the knocking didn’t stop, you paused the movie.
“Go away Y/BFF/N!” you yelled.
“Let me in, Y/N!” Calum demanded. “I’m not afraid to break the damn door down.” You knew he meant it so you sighed, getting off the couch and walking to the door. You opened it slightly, not allowing him to see your whole face. Not wanting him to hate his brother because of you. “Let me in.”
“Cal, I’m not in the mood,” you whispered. “Please, go away.”
“I’m not going to hurt you, Y/NN. I’m not going to let him hurt you,” he said softly.
“Who told you?” you asked.
“Luke did,” he told you. “Please, let me in.” You sighed and opened the door fully, revealing your face and the black eye Luke had left you with. It wasn’t swollen like it was at the beginning of the week but it was still blue and purple. “I’m going to kill him.” Calum turned to walk away but you grabbed his hand.
“He didn’t mean too,” you told him. “He wasn’t trying to hit me. I stepped in front of him as he tried to hit the wall. I-I was trying to calm him down and I got to close. It’s not his fault.”
“Y/N, you don’t have to lie for him. Not to me,” Calum said, bringing your hand to his lips and kissing it softly.
“I’m not lying, Cal. I would never lie to you or the others or even the fans. It was an accident, I promise.”
“Then why are you avoiding us?”
“Well, this for starters,” you pointed at your eye. “And we did argue. We have somethings we need to fix and I figured he’d come back when he’s ready. I don’t want your fans to see this, either, so I’ve stayed locked away here, where no one can get to me.”
“You’re protecting him,” he said with a confused smile on his face.
“Of course,” you nodded. “He’s not a bad guy and he didn’t mean to hit me. I messed up, that’s not his fault. I love him, Cal. I’ll always protect him and the rest of you, for that matter. You guys are family.” He smiled softly and nodded. “Now, I’m trying to watch a movie in peace. Can I do that?”
“Yeah, you can. Take care, Y/NN.”
“Get home safe, Cal.” He kissed your non-bruised cheek and left, allowing you to lock the door behind him and curl back up on the couch to watch your favorite movie.
Around dinner time, there was another knock on your door. Assuming it was Calum again, you pried yourself off the couch and walked to the door, opening it fully. To your surprise, it wasn’t Calum, but Luke.
“Why’d you knock?” you asked. “It’s your place, too.”
“I-I thought you might not want to see me,” he admitted, not able to pull his eyes away from your bruises.
“Lu, I’m not mad at you,” you told him, stepping aside to let him in. He walked through the door and you locked it behind him. “I have no reason to be.”
“You have every reason to be. I hit you, Y/N, something I swore I’d never do to any woman, especially not the one I love,” he said.
“You weren’t aiming at me, Luke. You tried to hit the wall. Instead of a hole in my wall, I have bruises on my face. I think it’s a fair compromise because I’d really hate to have to repaint,” you told him, walking back to the couch and sitting down. He followed but didn’t sit on the couch. He sat on the floor a few feet in front of the couch. “What’re you doing, Lu?”
“I-I don’t want to hurt you,” he mumbled.
“Dear God, Luke, you aren’t going too. I know you’d never hurt me on purpose. Why do you think I didn’t hit you back? I knew it was an accident.”
“You’d have hit me back?” he asked. You laughed slightly.
“I’m not into being bossed around and abused. Trust me, I’ve left some bruises of my own on a few of my exes.”
“So, you’re really not mad at me?” he quizzed hopefully.
“Not for that,” you told him. “For hiding things from me, yes. For being drunk off your ass every time you come home, yes. For kissing that stupid bimbo, yes.”
“I’m so sorry, Y/N. I know I shouldn’t have kissed her. I was drunk but that’s no excuse. I-“
“I’m not mad that you kissed her. I mean, I am, of course, I am, but you shouldn’t have tried to hide it from me. You should’ve came to me and told me because I’d have rather heard it from you than your fans.”
“It’ll never happen again,” he promised. “And I’ll stop drinking so much. If anything happens, I’ll tell you. I’ll never hide anything else from you.” He stood up and walked over to you, kneeling down in front of you and taking your hands in his.
“You promise?”
“I promise,” he nodded, bringing your hands to his lips and kissing your knuckles.
“Then you’re forgiven,” you said, leaning up and catching his lips in yours.
“I love you,” he mumbled against your lips.
“I love you, too,” you smiled, kissing him again.

Eclipse Chap. 4-Explanations
Here is the next chapter everyone!
So recently I started a new job and I’m loving it so far. However, I don’t get off till midnight so because of this I’ll be uploading on my days off. I may do a quick upload before work, but that’s just in case I’m too busy on my days off to upload.
Other than that I hope you enjoy the new chapter!!
It was a lot to take in as Snatcher explained everything that happened to Hat Kid to her friends, and his ex-fiancée. Explaining how it was his fault the planet got into this mess, and that it all happened thanks to him ripping up Hat Kid’s BFF contract. Snatcher saw how quiet it became as Bow and Timmy turned away from him, while Vanessa crossed her arms and glared at him.
“I figured you’d be the one to break girls' hearts.” Vanessa commented.
Snatcher glared at Vanessa. “Wow I didn’t need commentary to remind me what I did was wrong!” He snapped back at the queen.
“Hey if it happened once, it was bound to happen again.” Vanessa mumbled, turning away.
“I heard that!”
“You were supposed to!”
The queen and her prince were face to face, ready to go at it with each other until Bow and Timmy held them back. “Okay! Okay easy now! Easy!” Timmy yelled, holding onto Vanessa as much as he could. It was hard for two kids, one 12-years old and the other 10-years old holding onto two adults acting like children. Soon, the queen and her ex-prince were separated, calm, but still shooting death glares at one another.
“Now that’s settled.” Bow started, as she slowly turned her gaze towards Snatcher, “Why did you do it?” She asked.
Snatcher sighed. “Well I was angry, plus annoyed, but,” He then glared, “when she said no to me I just snapped.” He explained, giving another sigh. “I’m really sorry for hurting your friend.”
Bow and Timmy looked at one another wondering if they should forgive the guy who hurt their friend, but Vanessa was set on where she stands. “Look,” Bow started. Snatcher braced himself to hear what this kid had to say to him. “Even though you're the cost to why Hat Kid turned out this way, we don’t think breaking a friendship was enough to turn her evil.” She explained.
“Maybe mad at you, but not evil.” Timmy added.
Snatcher sighed, and felt relieved that he was forgiven. Though he did take Bow’s words to heart about something else that made Hat Kid evil. His memories flash seeing the “dweller” that was with Hat Kid before passing out.
The former ghost kept track of every dweller and Subconite back in Subcon, and this was a dweller he didn’t recognize. However, all he did know was that this “dweller” or whatever it was convinced Hat Kid to be this way.
“I-I think I might know who did this.” Snatcher let out. He got up and went to the telescope to transport himself back to Subcon.
“Where are you going?” Bow Kid asked. She tried to stop him, but the telescope had already teleported Snatcher back to Subcon. The child gulped in fear and had to quickly follow Snatcher before it was too late.
Once landing in Subcon, Snatcher gasped at how monochrome Subcon was. It wasn’t a lively forest, nor a spooky forest with neon mushrooms and ghosts, just a monochrome of emptiness. There was no one around, and it felt more spooky than it was before. However, Snatcher could worry that latter, he just wants to find someone, anyone that could help him.
“H-hello!” Snatcher called out. He flinched when he heard his voice echo back. “Kiddo! Anyone!” He called out again. The former ghost kept walking looking for his minions or Hat Kid, “maybe they’re all hiding? Or maybe they left Subcon.” Snatcher thought to himself. However, he was so deep into his thoughts he bumped into a statue.
Snatcher rubbed his head and his eyes widened in fear at the statue he bumped into. The statue was of two Subconites and a Dweller huddling each other in fear. The former ghost then turned and saw another one of two Dwellers. Snatcher collapsed and breathed heavily as flashbacks of the day he found the frozen bodies of the victims thanks to Vanessa. What he’s witnessing now was way worse than frozen corpses.
“It’s awful isn’t it.” Bow Kid spoke up. Snatcher turned and saw the young girl with a sorrowful look on her face.
“T-the kid.” Snatcher let out. “D-did she do-“ Snatcher was cut off when he saw Bow Kid giving a small nod. Now the guilt really hit him. The former ghost could handle Hat Kid stopping time on the planet, but freezing everyone he couldn’t handle again.
Bow saw how distraught the man was and went over to him and held his hand. Snatcher turned towards the young girl, who tried to cheer him up with a warm smile. However, as much as he needed to be cheered up, now wasn’t the time.
“Could we head back now?” Snatcher asked.
Bow gave a silent nod and soon the two teleported back to the ship.
Back on the ship was quiet; Snatcher and Vanessa sat on opposite sides of the ship. Vanessa was trying to see if she can get any of her ice powers back, while Snatcher was quiet and buried his face with his hands and legs.
Bow came from the door causing the duo to look up. The young girl dropped a box filled with clothes for the royals to change into. “Well if you want, here are some clothes to change into.” She stated.
Snatcher and Vanessa walked towards the box and saw clothes their size. Vanessa pulled out a mint green and white dress, long white stockings and black Mary Janes. Snatcher pulled out a long grey t-shirt with a crown silhouette on it and beige shorts, black socks, and brown boots.
Vanessa grabbed her clothes and left the room to get changed, while Snatcher stayed to do the same thing. Once they were changed Vanessa headed back to the room and decided to rest for the night.
Snatcher didn’t sleep till much later, right till Bow and Timmy told him they’ll be getting rest themselves. The former soul stealing ghost slept sitting up, tired to even lie down.
Snatcher opened his eyes and saw he was back in his colorful, but alive Subcon back to being a ghost. He was confused, till a familiar giggle interrupted him. The ghost followed the giggle till he made towards a clearing surrounded by flowers.
In the center of that clearing he saw Hat Kid giggling being happy as she danced in the flower field. Snatcher smiled and flew close to her.
However, this was a mistake.
Hat Kid’s joyful giggles started to sound creepy as she slowly turned to her evil self. Snatcher gasped and stepped back as the flowers around them started to die and tie him up. Hat Kid chuckled as she slowly walked towards Snatcher, as the latter struggled to get free.
“Let’s see how you like having your soul snatched, Snatcher?” Hat Kid asked as her hand glowed green as she went inside Snatcher’s chest and stole his soul.
“No!” Snatcher yelled waking up. He was breathing heavily as he looked around the room to see everyone was asleep. He sighed glad no one woke up thanks to having a nightmare. However, the former ghost wasn’t sure if he could sleep more after that.
“Oh kiddo.” He whispered. “I’m sorry.” He apologized, as he felt tears falling from his face. He repeated his apology as he quietly sobbed.
This was the first time he cried in quite some time.

an intervention was needed // thor x platonic!reader
Tumblr media
request: Hey hey! I hope you're well & safe ☺️ can i request a fluffy but more platonic thor x reader, it's kinda specific: the reader is an asgardian and she's bff with Thor, basically like a sister. So he finally comes back to fight in Endgame after being depressed and shutting her out, and they reunite and there's a lot of feels and he just feels like a disappointment and a mess but she's like.. aw my sweet asgardian boi :( ill take care of u now, and oof i got carried away 😅 ty in advance hun!!
summary: after the fall of asgard, thor shut you out from his life completely. five years later, when that life is in danger, you take it upon yourself to fix things—if you are able.
words: 1497
warnings: infinity war/endgame spoilers, angst (sO much angst dude i never write it but this time,,,, i did), fluff at the end tho;)
a/n: i am SO sorry for the delay in writing this imagine—school has been very tough recently because teachers still feel the need to assign hours of work every day. however, this was a wonderful request, and i am absolutely loving writing, so please keep sending ‘em in!!! i love you all💕
✖✖✖
There were plenty of upsides to being Asgardian—increased reflexes and fighting skills, the ability to down enough liquor to make mortals stare, and of course your special power—the ability to heal physical wounds. Due to your fighting and healing abilities, the Avengers had taken you on as a valuable asset to their pursuit of justice. You had been on Midgard for a few years, now, and while it gave you great joy to be able to help, it was also the root of many of your problems.
You hadn’t been there when Asgard was ravaged by Thanos. Instead, you had been with the rest of the Avengers, discussing a possible threat in Seattle. You had felt the devastating pull in your gut that alerted you of something wrong in your home world. Instantly, you bolted to your feet, screaming for Heimdall to transport you so you could help in any way you can. You shouted your throat ragged, but you learned three unbearable days later that there was no more Bifrost tower and no Heimdall to defend it.
To make matters worse, you suffered not only the loss of your homeland, but also the presence of your best friend Thor. He had entered your room after those three days a broken shell of a man. You had tried to get through to him, to connect and mourn over your losses, but he had been nothing but cold to you.
“You cannot understand my grief,” he told you in a cold, distant voice you could barely recognize as his own.
“We are both Asgardians, Thor!” you cried. “We mourn for the same land—the land of our fathers and mothers before us.”
“And where were you when that land needed your help?” he snarled, turning and glaring at you.
“I screamed Heimdall’s name for an hour,” you spat indignantly, tears beginning to burn their way down your cheeks. “No one was there, it wasn’t my fault!”
“I had to watch my own brother die,” Thor choked, unable to control the tears welling up in his own eyes. “Thanos murdered him like he was merely an insect—but he was my brother. Do you have any idea—“
“Loki was also an acquaintance of mine, and I view his loss with no small sorrow. I cannot imagine the pain you must feel, my friend.”
“Friend,” Thor spat. “I hardly think so.”
“Please, Thor, rid yourself of this anger—I do not recognize you.”
“Perhaps it is for the better.”
With that, he spun Mjolnir and flew to gods-knew-where. You were so numb that it took you hours to notify Tony of the gaping hole through the building.
✖✖✖
You stood stock-still, emotions swirling from shock to embarrassment to pure confusion as you took in the man in front of you. He hadn’t shown his face on Earth the whole five years, and you were completely shocked at what he had done to himself. “Thor?” you breathed. “Why are you—um—well—“
He looked down his nose at you, tilting his sunglasses down with the hand that wasn’t holding a can of beer. Squinting, he tried to realize who he was speaking to. His realization was so slow that you could literally see it blooming across his features. When he recognized it was you, he merely turned around, mumbling something about wanting a Bloody Mary. You stared blankly after him as he stumbled out of the room, your mouth hanging open.
“Not sure what happened there,” Steve said as he came up behind you. “Clearly he hasn’t been taking things well.”
“Yes, I can see that,” you managed.
“Are you doing okay? I know you guys had a fight of some kind the last time he was here.”
“Yes, yes. I’m going to see if I can talk to him and find out what’s going on,” you decided. “He cannot fight like this.”
“I agree,” Steve said, wishing you luck as he left to confer with Natasha.
Although you tried, you had no luck throughout the day in getting Thor alone—mostly due to the fact that you were in meetings nearly constantly, and he seemed to be in a drunken stupor for every single one. It was sort of the elephant in the room for everybody, and you could tell more than a few of them were wondering if he was even capable of fighting in this state. Even you had your doubts about your former friend, so you decided to take matters into your own hands.
As it happened, you didn’t get your chance until late that night, when most of the Avengers were in their rooms thinking about the subjects of the day’s meetings. Taking a deep breath, you set your jaw resolutely and made your way through the numerous corridors to Thor’s room. Your heart pounded, but you furrowed your brow defiantly. You were Asgardian, and you definitely had the strength to help Thor out of—whatever this was.
At least, you hoped so.
You knocked on the door and were met with silence for several moments. Raising your knuckles, you were just about to repeat your action when you heard a faint mumble.
“‘s there?”
“It’s me.” You inhaled deeply, praying you wouldn’t be electrocuted on the spot. There was another, even longer silence, before—
“C’me in.” You were floored at his response, but recovered and turned the doorknob softly. The sight you were met with broke your heart.
Thor sat on the floor, leaning against his bed with tears tracking their way down his face and into his beard. Cans of alcohol littered the floor, and you could smell the sickly-sweet stench from where you stood. You forgot the five years of silence in an instant and rushed to his side, sitting down next to him.
“Thor?” you managed, and he turned his tear-filled eyes on you. As he took in your worried face, his own crumpled and he began to sob anew, nearly falling into you as you wrapped your arms around him. You simply let him cry for a while, rubbing soothing circles on his back with your thumbs. Eventually, he sat back up, his motions slow and sad. “What is it?” you ask.
“Seeing my brother die—my home laid waste—how do I move past that? How can I live knowing what has happened? I was unable to save Loki or Asgard,” he said, his words falling with deadly conviction. His voice lowered even more as he finished. “I couldn’t—I couldn’t even save myself.”
“Oh, Thor,” you whispered. These five years must have been pure hell for him. His eyes were tortured as they looked into yours, and without thinking, you took his hand as you spoke.
“What you have witnessed will no doubt haunt you for the rest of your life. I say now as I did five years ago that while I mourn with you, I cannot fathom how deep your sorrow must be. I can tell it has plagued you these last five years, and I only wish I had tried to fix things earlier. Thor, you could not have done anything more to save our world and everyone in it. You may be a god, but that does not mean you do not have limits. You fought hard, my friend. And I am proud of you. I am.” He was watching you intently as you spoke, tears renewing themselves as you went on.
“But this—“ You motioned to the alcohol scattered around the room. “This is not like you. You do not deserve to fade away into nothing, brought down by your own devices. Instead, you must take your grief and rage and use it as motivation, use it to heal. Only then can you find within yourself what you so desperately need. And I will be here every step of the way to help you through.”
Thor’s eyes overflowed again, but this time you could sense relief radiating off him. He drew you in for another hug, and you held him tight, knowing this is what he had needed to hear all this time. “Thank you, my friend,” he whispered in your ear.
“I am happy to do it, Thor. I would do anything to help you,” you told him sincerely.
“I must also apologize from the depths of my heart for shutting you out. The only thing my actions accomplished was create more hurt for both of us. I needed you by my side and instead I pushed you away.”
“It was only natural, Thor. You were grieving and were unsure of how to handle yourself. All is forgiven now,” you said, smiling at him. “Now, if you feel able, shall we go to the kitchen? I find that Midgardian food is most helpful in times like these.” You stood up, extending a hand to him.
And for the first time in five years, Thor felt hope coursing through him and found that he, too, was able to smile.

It’s all about me
As Annabeth once said in Percy Jackson, there is no such thing as a free lunch. I got inspired by the idea. The title was inspired by a song sung by Chelsea Kane in Bratz. This is a rough idea and I’m sad to say it’s got Adrien salt but I always disliked how he didn’t expose Lila even after Marinette had to sit in the back alone. On the bright side, he did join her in the back eventually.
The class is willing to help Lila but it helps that she makes promises to do introductions. To be honest, that is why Lila has so many followers.
They don’t really care about what Lila had seen or had done. If they did, Chloe could have regaled them with her holiday trips and grand parties.
Celebrity connections is great but Chloe, Marinette and Adrien have already interacted with celebrities. They don’t really care about that stuff. You don’t see everyone crowding around Marinette when she made the cover of a magazine.
What the class cares about is when Lila promises to make them famous or introduce them to their favourite celebrities.
That is why, the day after Chameleon, the band asks Lila when she can make introductions because they really want to boost Kitty Section’s fame. Lila tells Kitty Section she doesn’t mix personal and business together when it comes to her sensitive music director friend. She gives the same answer to Nino. She can introduce them however, whenever he comes to Paris, which they know is not in the near future.
Rose is conflicted because what she just read on Prince Ali conflicts with what Lila said yesterday.
She tells Nathaniel that her manga acquaintance is currently busy but maybe once his series is finished, she will recommend Nathaniel to him. Nathaniel knows that could take years.
Kim and Alix know their favourite atheletes are currently busy so don’t bother asking.
Chloe doesn’t associate with anyone but her BFF and Adrien. Sabrina follows her lead.
Adrien and Marinette already know she is lying and keep their distance.
In time, Lila loses her entourage. She can’t give them immediate dates for meeting with their celebrities and they soon realize that all Lila talks about is herself. She’s like a more sociable and friendly version of Chloe. They grow tired of her talk and try to leave her as soon as one of them carries lunch for her.
Don’t get me wrong, they have tried to divert the conversation but she always tries to lead it back to her.
“I did tell you about my time in Japan right? Oh the fashion was so picturesque I’m sure even Audrey must have visited.” Chloe rolls her eyes. Sabrina just gives Lila a polite nod.
“Oh, I know Clara Nightingale when she visited Italy for her tour. My mum made arrangements and Clara even taught me a few moves!” Yeah...Lila can’t dance...
“Did I ever tell you i once ate at the best bakery in all of Italy? And the food was so cheap too?” Alya led Marinette away at that, thinking that for a sweet girl, Lila can be so tactless.
As for Alya, she received comments from viewers about how they had been saved by Ladybug, ever since she posted Lila’s interview.
When Mr Ramier admits he usually treats the heroes to ice cream after they defeat Mr Pigeon, that is when Alya begins to have thoughts. There is even proof of the ice cream conversation by other viewers admitting they saw this and one even provided pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alya asks Lila for a photo of her and Ladybug. Lila denies this as Ladybug doesn’t take photos like that. She lets people take photos of her but she doesn’t pose for them. Alya asks Lila to surprise Ladybug but Lila doesn’t want to do that to her friend.
Alya is hesitant because she herself has grown tired of Lila’s big talk and has had received comments from followers claiming to be part of Ladybug’s inner circle.
Alya finally asks for proof, so she can distinguish who is telling the truth and who isn’t. Otherwise she will take down Lila’s post.
When Alya talks about her worries with Marinette - because if Lila is lying, it means she is taking advantage of their kindness and her blog’s reputation will be ruined - Marinette decides to forego Adrien’s high road and even offers to set up another interview for Alya.
Yeah, Ladybug denies ever being friends with Lila. She exposed Lila earlier but felt bad about how she did it.
Alya confronts Lila about it the next day. Lila tries to claim Ladybug was protecting her but Alya has done her research now.
She had confronted Adrien earlier, who admits that he knew Lila was a liar. (Alya figured the crush Ladybug mentioned Lila had and was talking to had to be Adrien because she had seen her flirting with him on her first day.) Alya then gets Adrien to back her up if he wants to be forgiven by the class because they won’t react kindly once they find out his role. Adrien is guilt-shamed when Alya declares him to be an untrustworthy, horrible friend for letting them be manipulated by Lila.
And also, Alya had recorded Lila’s interview about how Ladybug healed her tinnitus on the wrong ear.
When Lila tries to accuse Alya and Adrien of ganging up on her, Rose herself tearfully points out her inaccuracies about Ali’s charities. Adrien realizes that Lila is hurting people with her lies and feels truly bad upon seeing Rose’s tears.
Seeing that she is losing ground, Lila cries and runs away. This scene is familiar to Marinette and Adrien so they run after her.
Ladybug arrives to purify the akuma. The class see Ladybug for themselves and Lila is truly caught.
When Lila then tries to accuse Ladybug of embarrassing her.
Ladybug admits she went too far, but can you blame her after Lila insulted her abilities as a hero?
With all this drama, Ms Bustier eventually has to step in. Ladybug warns Bustier to keep an eye on Lila and to actually check her stories.
Mrs Rossi is contacted.
Lila is in bigger trouble than ever, and all because she never thought about the consequences of her lies.
Alya posts an apology on her blog.
Marinette admits Ladybug loves her cookies and that’s how she got Alya her interviews.
The class forgives Adrien and he decides to skip advising then to forgive Lila because he realizes he himself was in the wrong and they won’t take that advice from him. He also apologizes to Marinette (yeah Alya really tore into him about his stupid advice. He was lucky he at least decided to join Marinette in the back.) But he still feels bad for sweet, misguided Lila until Marinette reveals that Lila had threatened her.
Alya gets Adrien to treat Marinette to a meal to make it up to her. While Marinette protests, Adrien agrees with Alya.
