honestly just in general it's very exhausting to try to analyze media that is literally meant to be analyzed, only for the replies to be filled with people arguing not against your analysis, but against the premise that the media can be analyzed at all.

i don't even know what to say about it without starting to really betray my frustration, so i'll just settle with— just don't engage with analysis posts? I'm serious. if you're typing a response to a media analysis post, reread what you've written and ask yourself "is this comment/response against the very concept of analyzing the media at all?" and if the answer is yes then delete it all and go sit in the shame corner. throw your curtains away if you want to so bad and stop telling me that I'm not allowed to hum and haw at the fact mine are blue

I think respecting trans people comes with a territory of like... just because many people will pass as cis doesn't mean that it's a great idea to use their passing as a way of legitimizing how absurd transphobia is

Transphobia isn't absurd because I "look like a [cis] man," it's because transphobia is fucking ridiculous. It would be ridiculous whether or not I passed or whether I look like a "conventional man." I use myself as an example, but ultimately, passing or appearing normative should never play into whether or not transphobia is bad.

I like how they invented a new kind of seasonal depression where you get near-suicidal because winter is gone and never coming back, and unlike regular seasonal depression nothing can ever fix it or improve it in any way.

I don’t think doomerism is smart, correct, or useful. People selling you the line that the world is fucked and beyond saving are exploiting the fact that humans are likelier to latch on to certain doom than they are to complex uncertainty, because cognitively we find uncertainty difficult to deal with, and at least “everything is fucked” is a narrative we will always be able to support with confirmation bias.

If you think everything is doomed, you are some combination of 1) depressed, 2) credulous, and 3) under-informed. If you are trying to convince *other* people everything is doomed, you are a complete asshole.
