In one timeline we kiss but the stars don’t come down. In another you set a world on fire for me but I perish in the flames. Somewhere there’s a final space where your hand on my face is the punchy climax to an epic saga, where the way our mouths meet takes the breath right out of people’s throats. One universe has us right, of all the millions stacked on millions. So it’s not this one. I can live with that.

Earth-22191
Home to Margo Kess (Spider-Byte). A reality where Norman Osborn (Green Goblin) was never found responsible for Gwen Stacy’s murder. He would go on to become mayor of New York City while Peter Parker (Spider-Man) retired and passed his mantle onto his clone, Ben Reiley.
After the destruction of this reality by an Incursion, a segment of this Earth was used to form a region on the multiversal Battleworld known as Arachnia, where it housed the remnants of the Web of Life and Destiny.
This reality was later restored with the rest of the Multiverse, by which time it had an active cyberspace community.
First mentioned/appearance: Spider-Verse vol 2 #1 (2015)

Samtember Day 16: Variant/Multiverse
Hey, people! I’ve made another fic for @samtember2022! It's a fic inspired by @onesmolangel's Thor Corps Sam piece made for the "Wings/Angel" prompt earlier this week. I hope you all enjoy the fic! 🥰

Clandestine Meetings
| Pairing: SamBucky | Rating: T | WC: 1.3K |
Summary: Sam Wilson of the Thor Corps of Doomsgard keeps meeting with Bucky Barnes of the A-Force of Arcadia. At first, it was about keeping the peace and exchanging information. But now... it's more. And Sam wished he was more conflicted about it, but he's not.
Excerpt:
“Come here often?” Sam grinned despite himself. Bucky leaned on an aqueduct, half-hidden by the shadows. There was something about meeting him here. Every time. A jolt of excitement from their clandestine arrangement despite it being nothing more than an exchange of information. Sam and Bucky trying to broker peace between the A-Force of Arcadia and the Thor Corps of Doomsgard. There had always been shaky ground. It made sense to try to work together to stop any fights from breaking out between them. Or at least. It had started that way. More and more, it had become… talking. Hanging out. On the outskirts of Arcadia. In an aqueduct. Like two very normal people.

I just finished a reread of Jonathan Hickman's FF and Avengers runs, since before I'd only ever been reading one half and had missed a lot of context, and them plus Secret Wars form one of my favourite extended marvel arcs ever made. Any thoughts about the storyline, or general perceptions you know others have had of it? I'm kind of curious whether it was loved or hated by the broader fanbase.
I enjoyed what I read of it, which was mostly the tail end- Secret Wars Proper and some of the stuff immediately leading into that. One thing that I appreciated about it, in a general sense, was that it posited the chickens finally, finally coming home to roost; the nature of the Marvel Universe is that the center is always gonna hold, because otherwise they can't keep selling comic books, but the subtext of every Marvel comic I read through the early-to-mid oughts, and during the Bendis-era Avengers-Disassembled-through-Siege mega-arc in particular, was that the planet was living on borrowed time due to the sheer volume of these self-righteous superpowered yahoos running around doing basically whatever they wanted. I'm principally a Wormblogger, I love Worm, and the fact that Worm actually acknowledged and depicted that collapse, after a decade-and-change of Marvel dancing around the idea, is a big part of why it hooked me so deeply. And thus, when you have an event about how reality is finally collapsing under the accumulated weight of all these retcons and reality-shifts and time-jumps and what-have-you, a story where the superheroes finally can't outrun the consequences of their actions via editorial mandate- well, it was cathartic. And the Battleworld, conceptually, was great. I enjoyed a lot of those tie-ins immensely; it was the summer of Fun Little Romps (even though it was markedly part of the defanging of the Marvel Zombies brand- but that's another post.) The downside, of course, is that it derailed the storylines of a bunch of different smaller books I was following at the time- Cullen Bunn's Magneto solo, Duggan's Deadpool Run, Punisher, Silver Surfer, The original run of Ms. Marvel. Like, I can't stress enough how early in the original Ms. Marvel run this event happened, like maybe the third or fourth TPB? She'd barely gotten going when Secret Wars hit. Some of these just awkwardly wedged a couple issues about the apocalypse in, but not all of these came back afterwards either. It's fully possible that at least a couple of these were flagging and the apocalypse was just a graceful offramp, but it still bothered me. It was the most exaggerated instance of the common complaint about crisis crossovers stepping on the toes of the ongoing storylines that I've ever experienced in real time, and you know, fair, it was at least a bit about that phenomenon, but it's not not annoying just because it's also self-aware!

Alternate Universe: Leah/Illyana (Marvel Battleworlds)
Canon alternate universe! In 616 I'm shipping Kitty/Illyana pretty hard, but the writer single-handedly sold Leah/Illyana to me in four issues. Great concept, great realisation.

do you have thor reading recs/guides/particular run or era to recommmend to get to know and appreciate the characters?
OOOH YES THANK YOU FOR ASKING
some thor fans and loki fans may disagree with what im gonna say here BUT. i think the run which best encapsulates why i love the character and the universe, as well as having essentially a very long guided tour through some of the most significant points of the thor sub-universe within the larger MU, is jason aaron's huge thor run from 2012 to 2019 (along with everything else happening in the thor universe at that time, covered by al ewing, kieron gillen, and marguerite bennett in a few also very good spinoffs).
this is the series where the God Butcher comes from, where Jane Foster becomes Thor, where loki is canon genderfluid in Agent of Asgard, where thor fights capitalism, and much more. it's not perfect, especially in terms of characterisation when some characters get thrown between their own miniseries and the main run, but it really encapsulates what I love about thor in his comics, and it's the run that, over the course of collecting the five huge paperback collections u can get it in, made me fall in love with this sub-section of the MU
proper reading order under the cut, plus brief explanations of crossover tie-ins and so on. it looks complicated but it's basically just cos marvel loves to re-start with a new #1 every so often to keep sales up, and because i think you should read the accompanying spinoffs. if you don't want to read the excess spinoffs (although agent of asgard is VERY good) just stick to things with 'thor' in the name.
Thor: God of Thunder (2012) #1-17
Loki: Agent of Asgard (2014) #1-5
Thor: God of Thunder (2012) #18-24
then the Original Sin event happens, the Watcher dies and a bunch of secrets are revealed...
Original Sin (2014) #5.1-5.5 (essentially a loki & thor miniseries tie-in, relevant to both series)
and THEN when Original Sin continues, Nick Fury (evil now, don't ask) whispers something into Thor's ear, and Thor drops his hammer on the moon and cannot pick it up! oh no.
Thor: God of Thunder (2012) #25
because the marvel universe never stops having big events, an event called AXIS happens immediately after, and results in a bunch of 'heroes' and 'villains' being 'inverted' - the 'villains' becomes 'heroes' and vice versa. both thor and loki are involved in this, covered in:
Loki: Agent of Asgard (2014) #6-11
and if you're wondering what happened to Angela after that Original Sin tie-in:
Angela: Asgard's Assassin #1-6
Thor (2014) #1-8 and Annual #1
THEN Secret Wars happens, basically 8 month timeskip and the multiverse is ending and another earth is about to crash into the main earth. don't worry about it.
Loki: Agent of Asgard (2014) #12-17
Secret Wars continues, the multiverse died and a new 'Battleworld' is created. basically it's a patchwork of all previous universes held together by Doctor Doom (don't worry about it). Marvel cancelled every single book and everything to turned into battleworld tie-ins:
Thors (2015) #1-4
1602 Witch Hunter Angela (2015) #1-4
... and then everything goes back to normal.
Mighty Thor (2015) #1-6
Angela: Queen of Hel (2015) #1-7
Mighty Thor (2015) #7-14
Unworthy Thor (2016) #1-5
Mighty Thor (2015) #15-22
Generations: Unworthhy Thor & Mighty Thor #1
Mighty Thor (2015) #23, #700-706 (they reverted to legacy numbering, don't worry, you didn't miss 677 issues of the series)
Mighty Thor: At the Gates of Valhalla #1
Thor (2018) #1-11
and then The War of the Realms begins, the big thor-centric crossover which ends the run. the issues of that main series and the concurrent thor series should be read in release order which looks like this:
War of the Realms #1
War of the Realms #2
Thor #12
War of the Realms #3
War of the Realms #4
Thor #13
War of the Realms #5
War of the Realms #6
Thor #14-16
and a concluding epilogue miniseries:
King Thor (2019) #1-4

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
September 27th - Mister Fantastic
Doctor Reed Richards, the scientist, inventor and adventurer better known as Mister Fantastic, is an ingenious polymath who possesses the ability to understand and master nearly all forms of science and technology.  Richards earned doctoral degrees in numerous fields at Empire State University where he met his eventual wife, Susan Storm, as well as his lifelong friend, Benjamin Grimm.
Richards had discovered a strange cosmic radiation belt passing by earth and endeavored a plan to travel into outer space so to investigate the matter more closely.  He was able to convince a reluctant Grimm to fly the spacecraft and was accompanied by Susan and her young brother, Johnny Storm.  The spaceflight went awry and the ship ended up passing though the radiation field.  This had a mutagenic effect on all those onboard.  Upon returning to earth, each discovered that they were bestowed superhuman powers.   Richards found that he could stretch and mold his body at will.  He could extend his limbs over great distances and even alter his physical appearance.  The elastic quality of Richards’ body additionally enhanced his strength and greatly augmented his resiliency to injury.  It is possible that this same malleability has also amplified Richards’ intellect, allowing his cerebral structure to stretch and fold, thus allowing greater cognitive faculties.
Richards proposed to the others that they use their newfound powers for the benefit of mankind, becoming the superhero team known as The Fantastic Four.  Richards’ assumed the alias of ‘Mister Fantastic’ and led the team on countless adventures, exploring strange realms, alternate dimensions and saving the world from all manner of threats.
Reed and Susan were eventually married and together they have had two children, Franklin and Valaria.  Reed’s obsessive passion toward discovery and scientific advances has often proven a strain on his relationship with his family, but he continued to work toward becoming a better husband and father.   One of the scientific pursuits that has especially troubled Richards has been his stymied efforts to enable his friend, Ben Grimm, revert back it his original human form.  The same radiation that enabled Reed’s stretching powers had transformed Grimm into a monstrous rocky being possessing tremendous strength.  Unlike the other members of the Fantastic Four, Grimm could not revert back and his inhuman appearance has left him isolated.  Reed has felt terribly guilty over this matter and, despite all of his genius, has not been able to determine a means of changing Grimm back.  Both have gradually come to terms with this matter and Grimm has forgiven his friend and learned to embrace his new life.
At some point in the past, Richards secretly entered into a pack with several other luminary figures.  They became The Illuminati, a group of powerful individuals who would meet on infrequent occasions to address threats they considered especially dire.  Along with The Illuminati, Richards has also been an associate member of both The Defenders and The Avengers.
Later, Richards discovered that different versions of himself existing across the multiverse had converged to create the Council of  Interdimensional Reed Richards.  The Richards of Earth 616 was invited to join this council and initially accepted.  Yet he came to realize their ambitions were to tame the multiverse and bend it to their will.  Concerned by the hubris and danger of such a goal, Reed abandoned the council and they were eventually destroyed by The Celestials.
Richard and The Illuminati tried and failed to prevent the incursions from alternate realities as the multiverse imploded in on itself.  He was able to save himself and his family by creating a lifeboat spacecraft that can exist in the limbo outside of reality.  The ship came across the patchwork Battleworld that Dr. Doom had created from the remaining fragments of reality.  With the aide of his fellow heroes and the reality-manipulating individual known as The Molecule Man, Richards was able to wrestle from Doom his godlike powers and use them to help recreate the multiverse.
Reed Richards has featured in a number of Fantastic Four feature films.  Herein his character has been portrayed by actors Alex Hyde-White, Ioan Gruffudd and John Krasinski.  The hero first appeared in the pages of Fantastic Four Vol. 1 #1 (1961).

Let's talk about MCU Phase 4
So there's been general rumblings in the community that Phase 4 is aimless. Directionless. That there's no connections between the movies. And I can respect that viewpoint but to me I see where it's all heading towards. Secret Wars (2015 version). What exactly IS secret wars though? Well to be short it's a deathmatch between universes for survival. The original universe MILES MORALES was from was the Ultimate Universe (Earth 1610) alongside the black nick fury (In the 616 universe he was white). However incursions happened (Yes those same incursions from Doctor Strange 2) and universes across the multiverse were colliding into each other. Eventually it was just the main comic universe vs the ultimate universe and there was some shenanigans with Doctor Doom becoming a god and creating battleworld. But we'll save that for later. For now let's look at what we've gotten in Phase 4. I'll also explain exactly how these all tie in for the future.
THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR EVERY PHASE 4 MOVIE AND SHOW
WandaVision: Well we were given Scarlet Witch, The Darkhold, Nexus beings, Agatha, White Vision, Wiccan, Speed and Monica getting her powers. Scarlet witch was important for Doctor Strange 2 alongside the Darkhold however this may not be the last we see of her.
More importantly Nexus beings are.....people who can basically defy fate. They are quite literally chaos. Save that for later. But there's also White Vision who's still out there on the planet or galaxy. Wanda's kids also make their debut here which is setting up the Young Avengers for the future or some deviation of it lol
Falcon and the Winter Soldier: We got more of Zemo, Sam becoming Captain America, Bucky being at peace with himself, the Flag smashers, the GRC, Torres being set up as the new falcon, John Walker, Isaiah and his grandson Eli and Val. And of course there's Sharon Carter.
We got some very interesting development here. Eli is another Young Avenger, John Walker is being set up for the Thunderbolts with Val serving as the leader/recruiter, Zemo also will most likely be on the thunderbolts as well and Sam becoming Captain America is huge for a variety of reasons. Champions (Avengers variation) can be set up from here but let's not forget Sharon Carter who'll be huge for Armor Wars, Possibly Ironheart and more.
Loki: Oh man. We got the TVA, introduction of multiple timelines, Variants, He Who Remains, and the prologue to Kang.
Listen, this show is very pivotal for what's being set up. We know the infinity stones are only locked to the universe they come from, The brief lore of the Multiverse war with Kangs fighting each other. Loki being set into ANOTHER universe and the opening of our universe to the grand multiverse (Thank you sylvie -___-) whereas before someone like Chavez couldn't access our reality since we were sealed off. The TVA is also huge because we've seen technology capable of nullifying magic and other wonky things like sending people to the Void when pruned
Black Widow: Alright we were given Yelena, Taskmaster, Red Guardian, and the other widows being free.
This movie is deceptive. Get it? Because Black Widow is a spy? ......Okay I'll see myself out lol. BUT basically what I'm saying is that we got Taskmaster who is prime Thunderbolt material, Yelena who we've seen pop up in Hawkeye and has a connection with Val, Red Guardian while being a bumbling idiot he DID mention fighting Captain America in the past. Also we've seen briefly a widow fighting against an Extremis guy in Shang-Chi, I think the widows are doing their own thing now and we may see a few of them working for Val.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: Wooo boy. Ten rings the organization, Ten rings weapon, Dragons, Ta Lo, Xu Xialing taking over the ten rings organization and HOTEL CALIFORNIA!!!! (Such a lovely place~)
Memes aside (Great song), There's so much to unpack here. We've seen the Ten rings symbol in Iron man 1, Ant-Man, and now Ms. Marvel. This organization has been around for thousands of years and their connections has to run deep. The weapons themselves from the post credit scene aren't known to be Kree, Science or Magic based. Oh man. Like the Bangle from Ms. Marvel we have something.....odd here. Celestial tech? Maybe something else? Perhaps not even from our universe? Also freaking dragons exist. DRAGONS! They're so cool! Ta Lo is also of note because it's a realm (Not so much a different universe) like Asgard or where the Djinn come from. It's also part of the same realms that K'un L'un is from. But Xialing taking over the ten rings....Yeah we're definitely going to see more of the impact this has in the immediate future. Perhaps a collaboration with Val and Sharon.
What If…?: The Watcher and other Universes. Also sick ass Ultron fight.
Not much to really say here. It's a cool novel concept taken literally from the same comics series but it did show us our first look into alternate universes. We've seen Captain Carter variant show up in Doctor Strange 2 and I think this show sets a lot of the groundwork for what we will see in the future. Also cmon. That Ultron fight? AMAZING!!! *Ahem* fanboy aside, I don't think that everything in What if will stay in What If.
Eternals: Arishem the fucking judge, Tiamat's emergence, Eternals themselves, Deviants, Starfox and Black Knight.
Right so Arishem is.....I think he's going to judge humanity after the events or during the events of Secret Wars. He's literally the prime celestial. The one who created all the eternals across the universe if not multiverse. Tiamat's emergence is also really important. I feel like there are organizations studying him and maybe trying to take pieces of him to use as tech? We'll see. The eternals themselves is important because it's not just OUR planet that has them judging by the post credits scene. Our eternals though....well they have a LONG history and met many many people in the past and present. The deviants are also going to be seen again in the future. And.....in the comics.....Thanos was a deviant. Which ties into....Starfox being thanos brother. Yeah....I think there's going to be more lore into Thanos but also other eternals not from earth.
And to wrap it up. Black Knight and his cursed Ebony Blade which may or may not be related to the Necrosword from Thor 4. This sword may serve as a key in upcoming events but setting that aside, we see Dane talking to Blade himself. Which is setting up for a possible Midnight Sons? Hmm.
Hawkeye: Kate Bishop, Introduction of the Kingpin and Echo.
Right so Hawkeye gave us Kate who is absolutely fantastic and will be a central figure like Yelena moving forward. Kingpin however being introduced in the MCU proper does mean we have a central villain figure for a few heroes including Peter Parker. Echo is of course getting her own show and she may or may not end up on the Thunderbolts
Spider-Man: No Way Home: More Variants, Daredevil debut, College Trilogy, Symbiote
So this movie was huge for showing different variants of the same character in a single universe. I do think they would cause an Incursion if they stayed any longer but the upside is that the Raimi and Webb Spider-men universes have had their villains redeemed and alive now XD. Matt Murdock also makes his first MCU debut in this movie and we'll see him in Echo plus his own Disney Plus show~ There's also the college trilogy being set up which means everything up to now was just a prologue for Peter. I can't wait to see what villains we will get......and speaking of villains. HOLY SHIT WE HAVE A SYMBIOTE HERE!!! If you guys aren't aware, the black suit spider man actually debut in the first secret wars in the 80s. There's no stretch to think they'll do the same thing. Also we have to see if our universe does have symbiotes
Moon Knight: Introduction of Egyptian gods, Exploring the Afterlife, Avatars
Yeah. I love this show but we got a lot of future material here. The egyptian gods are still here on earth and they DO have power but stay at an arms distance. We've seen the afterlife albeit briefly but it ties into Thor 4 with Valhalla. And Taweret brings up the Ancestral Plane from Black Panther. I don't think these afterlifes are just here to be here. We may see some wonky things happen where these places get disturbed and souls are pulled out. But avatars. Look. This is huge. Bast is the Panther Goddess and that means she too has an Avatar like how Marc was for Khonshu. We also seen Layla become the Scarlet Scarab because she's an avatar for Taweret~ I don't think is the last we'll see of this concept.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: I mean CMON. This ENTIRE movie is the Lynchpin with Quantumania perhaps being the only other Phase 4 movie that makes it clear as day what's going to happen. We got Incursions, Another universe with 838, Darkhold being destroyed across the multiverse, Chavez being a Multiversal traveler, Clea opening a portal to the dark dimension because Strange caused an incursion. Look. This movie lol.....it literally told you all what will happen in the future XDDD
Ms. Marvel: The Bangle, Mutations, Switching places, Noor dimension
Right so the Bangle like the Ten rings seems to be an unknown origin weapon. It's most likely not from this universe. That being said, this is just ONE out of a TWO piece set. And judging by the fact that this bangle was discovered in a place related to the ten rings.....Oh man. There's also the fact that Kamala Khan is our FIRST ever mutant. To be fair she was supposed to be a mutant in the comics but the whole Perlmutter pushing for Inhumans to be the next x-men....yeah....That aside this is huge as it sets up for other mutants like Namor in Black Panther 2, X-men and more.
The post credit is also....I think Carol might've found the other bangle and activated it. Either way this bangle is definitely not from our planet. Curious to see if the bangle are the infamous Nega-Bands or Quantum Bands from the comics. And the Noor dimension. We have a secret dimension that overlaps with our own. I'll explain why this is important at the end.
Thor: Love and Thunder: Valhalla, Necrosword, Eternity, Love (Gorr's daughter), This movie just affirms what I already know. We got valhalla which may just be another realm like Ta Lo or whatever. Ergo when a person dies like energy they don't really cease to exist but rather go somewhere else. The Necrosword which....ties into Knull the GOD of symbiotes. (Might be the sword that decapitated the celestial head used as a spaceport called Knowhere) This sword could also be related to the Ebony Blade that Dane Whitman has.
Also holy shit we've seen ETERNITY! That's literally how it looks in the comics LOL! Uh....this must mean Infinity, Oblivion, Death and maybe even the Phoenix Force are in the MCU. Nerdness aside, this lets us know that there are VERY strong multiversal entities that DO exist. And this ties into Love since she was given a fraction of Eternity's power when she was resurrected. I absolutely think Love will be a MAJOR character moving forward if not the reason as to how Secret Wars begins or Ends or both.
Right so what does ALL of this mean???? Well Let's look at the pieces and make them fit yeah?
We're getting completely new characters like She-hulk, Moon Knight, Ironheart, Nova, etc etc.
We have successor characters like Sam Captain America, Kate Bishop, Yelena Bolova, etc etc
There are a lot of things concerning earth, space, magic and the multiverse.
Listen. This all ties into secret wars. I think Kang's multiversal war is literally just that. A secret war fought across reality and incursions will happen forcing magic characters to get involved. It'll probably get so bad that there will only be a handful of Universes left and we may see either 616 vs 838 OR what I think is more likely 616 vs some other universe where we see legacy characters come back like Tony, Steve, Natasha, etc VERSUS our new Black Widow, Captain America, etc etc
Can you imagine our peter parker FORCED to fight another Tony so OUR universe doesn't get erased? Or our Sam vs their Steve? And these other variants won't know about the history or connection our characters have. New characters are being introduced to increase the scale of how epic this battle will be. Marc Moon Knight vs Jake Moon Knight or Arthur Moon Knight. Ms Marvel vs a Carol Danvers Ms. Marvel. The possibilities are endless.
Love will function as either the catalyst that starts this whole thing with each Kang trying to use her as an ultimate weapon given she has the power of infinity in her or she ends up putting this conflict to rest for good with her powers similar to God Doom. She may end up accidentally or intentionally creating a BattleWorld which is a hodge podge of different universes that were destroyed put into a single world.
Either way, all roads lead to Kang and we WILL see more versions of Kang in the future. Everything in Phase 4 is building up towards New characters fighting the Old characters we've loved and they've loved. Everything is leading up to the survival of our reality vs another universe's reality. We're going to see Black Suit Spider man, the gods getting involved, magic users, Old and New characters returning. It's going to make the Endgame portal scene look like a toddler.
People wanted another Endgame event. They wanted to know where it was all heading?
Tumblr media
THIS is where it's all heading. I hope you're all ready for the vast epicness and grand scale the MCU will be heading towards. Infinity Stones? Wiping out half the universe? That was just the warm-up.
ENTIRE universes being wiped out, Fighting a war against multiple variants of the same character, Introduction of new characters from our universe or others.....Yeah. This is the big league now. And I hope you're all ready for it.

According to Deadline, Michael Waldron—who served as head writer for season 1 of the Disney Plus series Loki and wrote the script for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness—has been tapped to write Avengers 6: Secret Wars, which will premiere on November 8, 2025 and conclude Marvel’s Multiverse Saga. What does this new development mean for Secret Wars—and the rest of the Multiverse Saga? Here are some theories!
All about the Multiverse Saga
Tumblr media
Marvel’s Multiverse Saga comprises Phases 4, 5, and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The multiverse itself was born in the season finale of Loki Season 1, in which Loki variant Sylvie (Sophia di Martino) kills He Who Remains, the leader of the Time Variance Authority, and allows the Sacred Timeline to branch into infinite parallel realities. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness explores the multiverse further by introducing the concept of multiversal travel and the universe-destroying collisions called incursions.
Even before Secret Wars was officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, fans suspected that it was in the works. In the original Secret Wars comics (both in 1984 and the 2015 remake), universes collide to form a patchwork planet called Battleworld, and with both the multiverse and incursions having been established in the MCU, it seemed like only a matter of time before Secret Wars made its big-screen debut.
Secret Wars will be preceded by Avengers 5: The Kang Dynasty, written by Jeff Loveness and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Kang (Jonathan Majors) made his first appearance in Loki as He Who Remains, and he’ll appear again in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, coming out February 17, 2023.
Theory 1: Secret Wars will be weirder, and maybe even funnier, than Infinity War and Endgame
Tumblr media
Marvel movies vary a lot in tone, with some of them more serious than others, but Waldron’s mark on the MCU has been decidedly funnier than many other projects. From the Kafka-esque antics at the TVA to Multiverse of Madness’s campy tone (admittedly aided by director Sam Raimi), Waldron’s writing style is offbeat and often absurdist. The fact that Marvel has tapped him to write Secret Wars could mean that’s the style they’re seeking for the Multiverse Saga’s conclusion.
Infinity War and Endgame dealt with the genocide of half the universe, so the tone of those two films was suitably dark. One would think The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars would be even darker, with entire universes being obliterated, but it looks like Marvel may be looking to keep its sagas from getting too repetitive by giving Secret Wars a weirder—and maybe even funnier—tone than its previous team-up films. After all, Marvel has already hired comedic writing duo Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer to write the script for Fantastic Four.
That change in tone isn’t as weird a choice as it might seem on the surface. After all, the first Secret Wars story arc in the ’80s was a thinly-veiled gimmick to sell action figures. Here’s hoping Waldron can leverage the weirdness of the multiverse while keeping the high stakes that made Infinity War and Endgame so engrossing.
Theory 2: Loki, Doctor Strange, and Scott Lang will feature prominently in Secret Wars
Tumblr media
It’s no coincidence that Marvel has hired one of the writers most familiar with how the multiverse works—and the characters who are embroiled in it—to write the climax of its story.
Thanks to his time at the TVA, Loki knows the mechanics of how the multiverse works and what triggers the formation of a new reality. He also knows how Kang’s multiversal war is likely to play out, thanks to He Who Remains’s monologue in the season finale. The Loki season 2 trailer, which was shown to attendees at Disney’s 2022 D23 Expo, hints that Loki will be working to stop that war from occurring. Meanwhile, Doctor Strange has seen the multiverse for himself and learned about the danger of incursions. That puts Loki and Strange in prime positions to be the MCU’s resident multiverse experts, and giving Waldron the reins makes it very likely that they’ll serve that very purpose in Secret Wars.
And what about Scott Lang, who will have to fight one of Kang’s malevolent variants in Quantumania? Quantumania’s script was penned by Jeff Loveness, who’s also writing The Kang Dynasty, so we’re likely to see a throughline there, too. With The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars coming out only 6 months apart, their stories will most likely be tightly connected.
Theory 3: Waldron can make up for Wanda Maximoff’s rushed character arc in Multiverse of Madness
Tumblr media
This is admittedly a controversial take, but many fans were angry at Wanda Maximoff’s abrupt turn toward villainy in Multiverse of Madness, along with what looked like her death at the end of the movie. Even Elizabeth Olsen was surprised at the radical new direction for Wanda, which didn’t feel earned after her nuanced character development in WandaVision. If Wanda comes back in Secret Wars, then Waldron, who is certainly aware of how fans feel about what happened, has a chance to make things right—but we’ll have to wait until 2025 to find out.

LOOK AT THESE X MEN
Tumblr media
So, I just want to talk some comic books, because some stuff is looking cool. But it requires some context.
Tumblr media
So, near the start of the 2000's, a little book called Ultimate Spider Man came out. It was meant to be a reader friendly alternative to the main Spider Man comics that had been running since the 60's. You know, something a bit less overwhelming. It was mostly written by Brian Michael Bendis, and it ran up to 2015. It was a massive success, and it led Marvel to make many other "Ultimate" comics adapting many of their other characters, such as the Fantastic Four, the X Men, and the Avengers, rechristened the Ultimates. Many of these influenced their modern film counterparts, with USM inspiring much of the Sam Raimi Spidey films and the ASM films, and the Ultimates heavily influencing the MCU Avengers. However, in the 2010's, it started to peter out, the only real notable exception being the creation of Miles Morales, the second Spider Man. As such, in 2015, the universe was destroyed by the event Secret Wars (2015), written by one Jonathan Hickman.
Tumblr media
Hickman got his start at Marvel working on some Nick Fury stuff, but really got his start when he began writing Fantastic Four, pushing it forward to new heights. In which, he introduced the character of The Maker, a corrupted evil version of the Ultimate Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic). From there, he began to write The Avengers, creating a grand multi year epic that all led up to the new Secret Wars, Marvel's closest equivalent to DC's many crises, where the multiverse was destroyed and reformed by Dr. Doom into Battleworld. After this event, the Ultimate universe (World 1610) was destroyed, and the main universe (World 616) was reformed, with a few changes (Such as bringing in Miles). From there, after a brief period of independence, he reformed the X Men into the Krakoan era with HoX and PoX, though he left that period to other creatives to focus on other things. Then eventually, he came back.
Tumblr media
After a decent amount of teasing, Hickman began work to bring back the Ultimate Universe... kind of. Hickman brings back the Maker in this four issue mini to mess around with universe 6160, futzing with it to make his own epic universe. However, things don't go exactly to plan, but it doesn't really matter, because a new Ultimate universe comes back, with new characters like a young Iron Man and so on and so forth, introduced this month in the book "Ultimate Universe #1"
Tumblr media
This book kicks off this grand new universe, but it will be flanked by others in the near future. Hickman himself is taking over Ultimate Spider Man, a story of an older, married Peter who gets his powers after living a longer life. Cool. There is also a Black Panther book. I don't have too much to say, but it does look neat. However, why we are here is for Peach Momoko's Ultimate X Men, which got a backup preview in Ultimate Universe.
Tumblr media
This is a big book for Peach Momoko, a Japanese artist who was hired by Marvel as mainly a cover artist, but with some of her own works as well. It seems to focus on the character of Armor, one of the many mutants by Marvel, seeing her grow into a mutant in this universe. And it looks FUCKING SICK!
Again, it got some teaser images in Ultimate Universe, though it won't come out until next March. However, this brief look gives some interesting images that I'm just obsessed with.
Tumblr media
I am obsessed with this seeming adolescent body horror approach. It feels right in line with this idea of younger mutants dealing with all these ideas in a new, cool looking way. The artstyle really helps it, since a lot of the given teasers are very dialogue light. It lets the art and the emotions therein shine.
Tumblr media
It does, at least at the start, seem to focus on just a few dorks hanging out. They're both mutants by the way, the white haired kid is a character created for a cover by Peach Momoko, and she's getting integrated here.
Tumblr media
Overall, it looks really promising. How will they integrate the actual X Men, who knows. But, I'm excited for this interesting take on this gaggle of mutants

Note
He can get love elsewhere, to hell with getting a parent's approval and love.
I don't disagree.
I'm just talking about like ... why Miguel, in the comic text, is unlikely to kill Conchata. However, in a fanfic: sure! In the Mostly Intact universe, I think he is probably no contact with Conchata.
Did you know in the Battleworld comic, Miguel was raised by Tyler and pushes him out a window? It's the one redeeming move of Miguel Stone.

Marvel Studios Set to Release an Official, Detailed MCU Timeline | CBR
A new encyclopaedic book titled Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe An Official Timeline is set to straighten out the events of the franchise
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded, all of its separate events and their impact on each other have become more and more complicated. Marvel Studios' new encyclopaedic book promises to clear all of it up.
Available for preorder on Penguin Random House now, Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe An Official Timeline is described is written by Anthony Breznican, Amy Ratcliffe and Rebecca Theodore-Vachon, and is described as "the definitive, filmmaker-endorsed guide" to the MCU and its timeline. But the book will contain more details than just the chronological order of things.
The summary of the book reads assures readers can "follow the entire story of the MCU from before the Big Bang to the Blip and beyond. Along the way, learn more about the evolution of the Iron Man armors, the hunt for the Infinity Stones, and the formation of the Multiverse."
The MCU So Far
Since 2008's Iron Man, the shared universe has expanded with every film, building both the distant past and even touching on the near future, since Avengers: Endgame introduced a five-year jump. As if the main Marvel Cinematic Universe wasn't complicated enough, the season finale of Disney+'s Loki, along with the events of What If…?, introduced the concept of the multiverse of the franchise, meaning it may get a whole lot more difficult to keep track.
Phase 4 of the MCU has touched on the concept and is launching what is currently being called the "Multiverse Saga." Following the Disney+ shows, Spider-Man: No Way Home was able to use that concept to bring in the different iterations of Spider-Man moviegoers are familiar with. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness similarly explored entirely different worlds and iterations of the titular superhero. But Marvel Studios has an even larger story building, involving Kang the Conqueror and an event inspired by the comic book crossover Secret Wars.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was announced in July at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, along with its follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars. While the title of The Kang Dynasty suggests heavy involvement of at least one variant of Kang, details concerning the ensemble film have not yet been revealed. The same can be said of Secret Wars, which shares its title with the comic book storyline from 1984 and 1985. The comic book crossover saw the being known as the Beyonder transport unwilling superheroes to Battleworld, where they were tasked with fighting a small army of supervillains.
'Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe An Official Timeline' is available on all major platforms. See details on Piguin Randomhouse's website >>
