Imagination Nugget
So I went to a ketamine retreat. This shit ain’t cheap. I went into yet more debt just to do it. But my therapist told me that people come out of it with long-term benefits. See, I have what they call treatment-resistant depression, otherwise known as “I have seen the face of god and he wasn’t that great”. It is a reverse high. The Reverse Uno card of mental health. The thing that happens to Lovecraft main characters when they see the true nature of the universe. Y’know.
The retreat was held in a turn-of-the-century house downtown. Gorgeous old thing. Enormous 8-foot-tall windows, original glass and clasps, wonderful porch that directed breezes oh-just-right, Grecian portico for some reason (?). (Just goes to show that you can have money and no taste in any time period.) Cracked me up that I was lying on the drawing room floor getting high with a bunch of strangers. Man, imagine how pissed-off some Victorian grandmadam would be about that shit. “You were doing WHAT in MY drawing room?!”
I was only nervous once and it was because there were eleven people crammed in 300 square feet and I was about to caveman-spongebob right out the window.
Can I ask y’all a question, though
Is it possible to engage with drugs holistically without all the touchy-feely stuff? Or the strange religious overtones? Because I felt pretty silly. I could tell one of the other people there was also super not into the tone. Like you and me buddy, you and me both. And the thing is, I see why they’re doing a lot of it. I’ll take the meditation but why are we burning sage and must there be crystals everywhere? They had one of those baked amethysts sitting on a table--you put an amethyst in an oven and bake it a while and it’ll turn yellow so then you can market it as citrine. I’d even rather have the bad painting of the jaguar on the second-floor landing than a hospital setting. But also... like... they talked about the trip as a journey. You know what I did? Sink into my own brain and have the zoomies. It wasn’t a journey, it was a house party with me as the only guests. I didn’t see any visuals and I was always aware of where and when I was. Ketamine, like THC and Adderall, slows time down for me. Also, I became a brain in a meat popsicle. That was fine. I loved it.
I started it out thinking, “This shot ain’t SHIT.” I quickly ended up with, “This shot ain’t... oh shit oh shit cooooooool byyyyye” Buzzing waves flowed up from the bottom of my brain to the top over and over and over and I was just the happiest damn human being who ever lived. I started getting worried about the fact I wasn’t worried, then thought “Nah” and floated off doing mental backflips. I thought about my brother at one point but I wasn’t even mad. I was like “Yep there he be” and cartwheeled outta there. At one point I realized I could conceivably let go enough to achieve ego death. I wasn’t afraid of it; I just didn’t want to do it. So I didn’t. I just played with all of my toys in my own brain. It was like I was given permission to ignore the outside world and all of my fears and worries completely, which happened to be all centered around my physical motherfucking body and where it is in space and time and its relationship to other human beings. Also, at that point I had paid an ungodly amount of money for a clinician to look after my prone drooling form, so I was able to surrender literally every care on Earth and go sprinting after every mental earworm I have ever had. Story idea? Sure! Think about what I can use this for in my story? Sure! Imagine how pissed off the original owners of the house would be that I’m doing this here? YESSSS
I am told I just lay there completely still, which is great, as I thought I was lying completely still. Because I lay still, I was offered a second dose, which means I got MORE KETAMINE. Just like in real life, people never know that I’m actually having a party inside of my own brain.
“Are you okay?”
“yyyyeaaaah :)”
“How do you feel?”
“Good :)))) Izzz powerfullll”
“It’s powerful? Would you like more?”
“Yezzzzzzz”
and you know what
I GOT MORE B))))))
Man drugs are great. Who’s gatekeeping this shit? Give me this shit. Every day. Give me all this shit.
One of the things we had to do was go into this ceremony with an Intention. What did we want out of our trip? And I just said, “Honestly, I just want to go with the flow. I don’t care. I want to see what happens and I just hope I get something good out of it.” Out of my laundry list of psychological hangups--which included despair, unbelievable rage, suicidal ideation, deep and inconsolable grief--you’d think I’d have found something. Nope. The element that stood out to me wasn’t even on my fucking list.
I realized how much I loved retreating into that specific part of my brain to play with my toys in my imaginary space. And what’s more, that’s totally possible without any drugs at all. I had such a powerful experience there that I can show you where it fucking is just by touching my head. It’s still buzzing as we speak. I realized suddenly that I hadn’t been giving myself any time to go there. I had always gone there in childhood, but the older I got, and the more concerns I picked up, the less I’d let myself retreat to that space. It wasn’t because I felt ashamed of it or anything; it’s because it’s so deep and internal that it takes my eyes off the road, as it were. If I sink into that place too deeply I can get into real trouble lol--I’m talking about walking into traffic or a wall or something--and I don’t feel safe descending into it when there are people around--and at some point I just fell out of the habit of going there.
I described it to my attending physician as an “imagination nugget.” She insisted on calling it a “gift.” Look, you can’t go to a gift. You can, however, go to Imagination Nugget.
I realized I should make time in my day just to completely let go and sink into my little space to play with my toys. And honestly? That’s a great realization to have. Spend more time with myself doing nothing but mental play. GIVE that time to myself, don’t just do it at the end of the day--that’s another thing I realized, that I only give myself time to do that when I’m in bed trying to sleep--which is WHY I HAVE TROUBLE SLEEPING. Because I’m trying to put Imagination Nugget time into my Sleep Time. Durrrrhhh
Also we did art at the end. I felt silly about that too, honestly. I wanted to go home lol. But I did make... art...? In retrospect, I should’ve made it terrible on purpose. But when you spend $800-fucking-dollars on something you treat that shit SERIOUS ok

(requested by anonymous)
The Doctor was in her office, but she’d stopped working several hours ago; in fact, when Orchid came by to ask about her squad’s upcoming deployment, she found her at the empty assistant’s desk with what looked like a full-blown toolbox at her side. “Good afternoon, Doctor. I didn’t come at a bad time, did I?”
“Oh, hey, Orchid! Nah, I’m just working on some’n for my anniversary.” She held up the ring she was working on. “It’s our first, so I wanna do some’n extra special, ya know?”
“Anniversary? I didn’t know you were even seeing anyone. Who’s the lucky guy? Or gal, either way.”
That earned the Liberi a smile. “Blue, Glaucus, and I are going on six months now.”
“Huh. Like, all three of you together?” She whistled. “I think one’s about all I can handle.”
“I think that’s partially because of who that one person is, though.” The Doctor’s smile was somewhere between caustic and glacial as she fired off her retort.
Orchid sighed. “Yeah, you’ve got a point there...So, do you have an update for me on when my team’s heading out into the field? Poppy’s trying to schedule chainsaw lessons with Blaze, and it’s probably better for those to happen on deployment rather than in one of the training areas.”
“Oh, yeah, definitely.” She rolled her chair across the floor to reach her computer. “Lemme see where I put you...”
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Blue Poison was sitting at the counter with a pencil and pad of paper, sketching and erasing more than she ever had before. Cakes were supposed to be her thing, so why was this so hard…
“Hey, Blue!” Gummy walked in, a box of ingredients in her arms. “Everything okay? You looked stressed.”
“I’m making a cake for my anniversary today, and I want it to be perfect...but I don’t know how to make it look the way I want it to.”
The chef set her box on a side table. “Maybe I can help? Mousse has been-”
“Hi, Gummy!” Speak of the Feline, and she shall appear. “Oh, Miss Blue? You look worried.”
“Mousse, you showed up just in time! Blue’s baking an anniversary cake, but she’s worried it won’t look good. Can you help us come up with something that’ll really wow her special someone?”
The Anura mumbled, “Someones. I have two girlfriends.”
“Sure, I can help!” A black cat appeared out of nowhere with her sketchpad. “What kind of cake do you want to make?”
“...A wedding cake.”
While Rhodes Island’s best bakers conspired to craft the perfect anniversary cake, Glaucus tinkered in her room, looking through schematics to find the pieces she needed for the ideas in her head. It wasn’t every day she had something to celebrate, so she felt like she really had to make this special, but she was quickly discovering she didn’t have many ideas that made good toys. “Hmm...The Doctor said she’d like something she can set on her desk, and Blue likes watching the clouds on the top deck. Maybe something held in a magnetic field that has a liquid component? That would be interesting, and it shouldn’t be too hard to make. I will need a container of some kind for it, though.”
*knock knock* “Glaucus?” That was Mayer’s voice at the door. “Do you have the prototype for the magnetic field generator model?”
“One second.” The Supporter engaged her exosuit, walked over to the table she set the model on, and opened the door to hand it to the Anaty at the door...
...Who looked behind her and saw what she was working on. “Has it already been six months?”
“Hmm?” Glaucus followed her eyes. “Yeah. I want to make them something like levitating lava lamps. Actually, can I borrow a few Meeboos? I need some help with the containers, and I’m not entirely sure what I want to fill them with for the best effect.”
“I’ll do you one better and help you myself. It’s been kind of a slow day, but helping you out might teach me something I can use on the magnet-powered Meeboo!”
With a little trepidation, she let Mayer inside. “Alright, you can help me out. We’re gonna need two of them.”
“Obviously.” The Anaty chuckled. “What else would you do, ask them both to share?”
“...I am so glad I work with someone this perceptive.”
--- --- --- --- ---
The Doctor’s shift came to an end, and she returned home with a trio of rings in her pocket, eager to start celebrating. She wondered if her girlfriends had gotten as into this idea of anniversaries as she had; for her, it was a brand new type of memory, one that, even as an amnesiac, she knew was a new sort of experience, and one she was looking forward to having many more of...
‘Home’ for the trio was the Doctor’s suite, partially because it’d been the largest of their three rooms, partially because she was the only one who didn’t need a separate workshop for her stuff, and partially because her room had been site zero...entirely by accident. All three of them being there had been intentional, at least - Meteor had held a meet-and-greet sort of thing for the more introverted folks, the sort of event only a team mom could have considered and then kept enjoyable, and afterwards Blue and Glaucus had taken up on the Doctor’s offer for a nightcap.
They quickly discovered none of them could actually drink alcohol, each for a completely different reason, so it’d turned into the three of them talking the night away instead. The Anura made a remark that this was the most of Glaucus’ voice she’d heard since they’d met, and the Supporter admitted with a blush that this was the most comfortable she’d felt around a pair of people since she’d arrived. That got the two of them talking about life before Rhodes Island; Blue reminisced about walking hand-in-hand with friends, which prompted the Doctor and Glaucus to ask why she didn’t at RI. She sighed, saying most people were too scared of the possibility of her poisoning them to consider it - and before she could even finish the sentence, they’d each grabbed the hand closest to them with a level of coordination they couldn’t have even planned.
Man, that was a fun night.
Anyway, the Doctor went to unlock her door, only to have Blue open it for her with a bright smile, already out of her work clothes and in something casual. “Welcome home~ How was work?”
“Slow as hell, honestly.” She went for a kiss, encouraged by the frosting on the Anura’s upper lip. “You made dessert, I take it?”
“You’ll see. Glue got back a few minutes ago and went to the bedroom to change, if you want to join her.”
A shrug. “I think I’ll keep you company until she’s out. Did you burn yourself, dear?”
“Hmm? Oh, this?” She shook her head. “I dropped a beaker and cut myself while cleaning up. Nothing serious.”
“Gotcha. Hey, that was quick!” They both turned to watch Glaucus walk out of the bedroom.
The Supporter waved. “Didn’t need to do much. Are we ready to start?”
“Yeah, let’s do it!” The Doctor rubbed her hands together in anticipation. “I can’t wait to see... this...cake...Holy shit.”
“You’ve really outdone yourself, Blue,” Glaucus agreed, swooping in to take her hand as their third tried to figure out how to tackle the three-tiered titan in front of them.
She giggled. “I’m happy you both think so. I had some help planning it, but it turned out even better than I expected.”
“This reminds me of something,” the Doctor noted as they took the topmost layer for themselves, “but...I don’t know what.”
“It’s a wedding cake,” the Supporter replied.
The Anura nodded. “I’ve always wanted to try making one, and I thought this was as good a time as any. Is it good, Doctor?”
“You know how addicted I am to your cakes, Blue.” She’d already eaten a third of the portion she’d retrieved. “I’m happy there’s enough of this one to last a couple days.”
“Once we’re done eating, I have something as well.” Glue chimed in while it was on her mind. “We should wait, though. The frosting might stain them.”
The Doctor flashed her a thumbs up, and after they’d had their fill (keeping in mind they were planning to go out to eat), Glaucus went back to the bedroom and returned with a pair of blue boxes with green bows on top, each manageable with one hand. “They’re a bit fragile, but I think they’re pretty neat.”
“...This is magnetic, isn’t it?” The Anura opened her box and pulled out a small double-capped cylinder with two distinct layers of liquid along with a flat black base.
“How do we turn them on?” The Doctor wondered aloud. “I don’t see a switch or any- oh, wait, it’s this, isn’t it?”
The Supporter smiled as she found the clicker she’d taped to the top of the box. “Green turns it on, red turns it off; both are gradual to ensure the cylinder doesn’t move too fast and shatter.”
“That’s really co- no, this is awwwwesome. I’m totally taking this to my office.” She’d expected it to float, because Glaucus’ thing was magnets, but to spin as well? That was next-level shit.
“You color-coordinated them as well,” Blue noted with admiration before kissing her on the cheek. “It reminds me of a stormy evening sky.”
Glue blushed. “Then I’m two-for-two.”
“Oh! Speaking of, I made us something, too!” The Doctor fished in her pocket, found the rings, and kept her hand there for a moment.
“...You’ve talked about making jewelry on slower days,” the Anura said, “but it’d be a pain to keep three chains in one pocket.”
Glaucus had to sit down, as even with her exoskeleton on, her knees suddenly felt weak. “Blue, I think I know what she made.”
“Let me know if you guessed right :D.” She held out her hand, and there were three rings - simple silver bands, nearly identical except for differently-colored stones on top - one sapphire, one amethyst, and one citrine.
“I was.” The Supporter fell sideways, laying across Blue’s lap. “We already have the wedding cake.”
The Doctor balked. “Not that I’d say no, but it still feels kinda early for that.”
“All in good time. I’ll consider it a promise for the future.” Blue accepted the amethyst for herself and put the sapphire ring on Glaucus’ finger.
“Same...” Glue, it appeared, was down for the count. “I might need a minute before...dinner...”
That was just fine in their book; the Doctor helped the Anura take their sluggish girlfriend somewhere more comfortable before disengaging the exoskeleton for some late afternoon cuddling. Despite all the blue in their lives (I mean, just look at those color schemes), life had never been brighter...

🔮 Quick Pick-a-Card Reading
The question I meditated on during this reading was, “What do you need to hear right now?” Angel number “123” stood out to me the most, symbolizing growth, and needing to see things differently. Take a moment and meditate on the cards, pick a group using your intuition L(1-3)R, then continue reading to see your message. I hope you enjoy! ⭐️
Tumblr media
*I used my whole tarot deck in this reading, and only major aracanas came out, really intensifying the overall energies*
Tumblr media
Group 1 (Fluorite): It feels like you have a lot of emotions that you need to find a way to communicate and balance right now, group 1. This might be hard for you to do, but I’m seeing that going out into nature could really help you. The sounds and vibrations of the Earth allows you to balance, and be more in touch with what your higher self wants you to see. There’s a message that’s trying to come through for you right now, but you’re stalling that on some level by not communicating the feelings you have to someone you trust. Balance is something you can achieve on your own, and so is this lesson that’s trying to come through, but you need to accept help. Sometimes you just need an outside unbiased voice of reason to get you moving again. Don’t be afraid to speak what you feel. There’s a lot of air sign energy with this group, and maybe water as well. Maybe you have both air and water in your personal planets. You overthink a lot, and this just puts you in a bit of a cloud of confusion sometimes. It might be hard for you to see how much you’ve grown as well, because your growth is pretty slow moving. It’s like when your a child, and your body is growing, but you don’t realize it as it’s happening. You just go to the doctor one day and you’re 3 inches taller. You had nothing to compare yourself to until now. It feels like you need to look at where you were a couple years ago, and compare it to where you are now. A period of reflection is going to show you how much you really have accomplished.
Tumblr media
Group 2 (Amethyst): There’s a major shift happening astrologically or karmically for you right now, group 2. This could have something to do with the phase of the moon, or some transit moving through the moon or Jupiter in your personal chart. You’ve been doing a lot of growth, but it feels like more so spiritual work that you’ve kept to yourself. I think the people around you are starting to recognize this though, even if they don’t say anything. You’re a little bit hard with change sometimes. You could be a fixed sign, or maybe a cancer or Pisces. I feel like you have a fear that if you speak a wish you have, it won’t come true anymore, but that’s the opposite of the truth right now. You need to be honest and open about your dreams unapologetically, because they’re about to manifest. If you continue keeping them all inside, you won’t be able to experince the blessing that’s coming towards you to the fullest extent. You’re in a transition period right now, and sometimes that can cause some confusion, but try to stand strong in what you know you want, and what you know is coming towards you. 10 and 1010 is an angel number for you during this time, reminding you of the transition that’s happening to a beautiful new beginning. This is the most spiritually powerful group, you just have to remember your potential. You’re moving into the most amazing blessing.
Tumblr media
Group 2 (Quartz w/ Citrine): You really do too much, group 3, and the Universe is saying it’s time to take a step back right now. You’re a powerful energy, I get strong fire as well as Earth here. Specifically Aries and Virgo. I’m getting the image of a to do list that never gets fully checked off, because you put too much on your plate. You worry a lot about what’s physically happening around you, but you need to trust more. That sounds so basic and you’re probably rolling your eyes at me saying that because “shit has to get done,” but maybe not everything. There’s things on that to do list that you could erase. Try being a little bit easier with yourself is what I’m hearing. Allow yourself to fully check off all the things on your list one day, by scheduling less. That to do list could just be symbolic as well, for you always thinking there’s more to do, and never allowing yourself to relax. You need to mediate and get more in touch with your spirituality right now. Make that a priority, not just what you can see with your eyes happening in the physical world. If you don’t allow yourself to do this soon, I see you starting to regress spiritually. Don’t lose yourself in what’s happening around you. Things might be a little chaotic right now, but you’re powerful and in control of yourself. That control just feels projected in the wrong place by you right now.

crashorpie replied to your post “What’s a eerie purple or dark blue gem stone”
my first thought was labradorite honestly? but I don’t rly see that as Goth ufm
apparently there’s a superstition that wearing opals is a death omen
there’s also s/t called ghost quartz where a colored quartz like citrine or amethyst or what have you will form inside clear quartz
unrelated to the color thing I feel that of the canon Gems Julian is most similar to Pearls? appearance wise & also bc there’s this sort of sense of… delicacy
maybe her owner was a Sapphire who got killed, but knew it was coming for a long time?
i thought of labradorite too but it didn’t really stick cus, like u said, i feel like julian would fit very well with pearls? ghost quartz is good too and i might use that for EJ but just, something about the overall Look just seems very Pearl-ish to me, a pearl or an opal (idk what Non Fusion opals look like or do and idk if an opal would be a solider or a specific skill gem or another type of Personal gem like a pearl or a spinel but i would lean more towards Specific Skill gem? but idk if the canon of what an opal would do would rlly effect what julian would be, if we ever seen a non fusion opal they might absolutely fit but i like the idea of a pearl)
i was lookin up pearls to see if there were purple pearls and lookin at stuff, if i wanna stick to the kinda Morbid Goth thing, i was thinking about a purple shell pearl? and what i’m sayin next might be absolute shit cus i’m a lil out of the loop on SU lore but AU time
so shell pearls are made by grinding up the mother of pearl lining and shaping it into something and then just putting a pretty colored coat on it right? so what if Shell Pearls are some kind of specific era two kind of pearl; with low resources they can’t make Perfect Pearls anymore, so they have to cut some corners perhaps. and maybe it’s also part of their experimentation like with the forced fusion but more controlled, maybe not. but they start making pearls with their substandard materials, and maybe grind up remains of shell materials (the Dark Edgy version of this is that they grind up shattered pearls and use that for the incubation as well but ya kno) and idk if i really had a point to this i lost my train of thought but yeah, she’s a purple shell pearl who served a shattered sapphire and that was NOT a good feeling

Summoning Circle II
This is a continuation of Summoning Circle, cause y’all all wanted more and it was clearly not finished. You can find all other IkeSen works of mine here.
She knew she’d staggered ass-backwards into a shady deal when he showed up the next week with another demon in tow.
“Uh.” Well, hell. She really needed to work on her first words to him, because he stepped free of the circle and into the apartment as easily as could be, the other demon still trapped in the intact circle. He had a beauty dot near his sparkling amethyst eyes, tiny, adorable horns peeking out from under a fluff of silver hair. “Hey, um, who is this? I thought it was just gonna be you, Mitsuhide.”
“I brought your tutor.” Casually as could be, he opened her fridge and rifled through it, finding her wine in no time and pouring himself a glass. “That’s Mitsunari.”
“Wait. Wait! I thought you were going to teach me?”
“I said I would help.” Mitsuhide corrected coolly, his yellow eyes flickering as if he fed off her indignation and confusion. “I helped by bringing you the appropriate demon. You’re welcome.”
Damn. Biting her tongue, she stared back and forth between the two, really unclear on the terms. Was she supposed to make another deal? Oh man, she should have really gotten a lawyer to look over the arrangement. “Hi. Um. You’re Mitsunari? Err, are you good at statistics?”
“Yes.” He beamed. For a demon, he seemed entirely too angelic. “Mitsuhide advised me of the situation. I’m happy to help!”
Wait, what? “Really?” She asked, baffled. It seemed too good to be true. “I mean, I have some books for you in exchange...”
Those eyes went from amethyst to midnight-purple in the span of seconds, his pupils dilating and stretching like a cat with a prize in its sights. Mitsuhide stepped between them.
“She’ll give you the books afterward.” He announced thinly. “We both know you’ll get lost in it and forget yourself.”
“Oh!” The pupils returned to normal, that shiny, cute smile appearing once more. “Of course! I’m so sorry. May I step over?”
“Yeah, sure. Please.” Okay, so he wasn’t all cute sparkles and giggles. Demon. Demon. Best to remember that. “Um, so, do you want something to eat? Some water?”
“No, no.” Mitsunari waved that off with a smile. “Let’s get right to it! What do you want to learn?”
He was serious. Well, okay then. She pried the battered Statistics textbook from her bag and flopped it onto the table. “The Chi-Square tests. You know what I’m talking about?”
“No.”
Shit. Figured. She paused, uncertain of where to go from there, but once again Mitsuhide intervened. Picking up the text, he flipped through the pages with his long black nails, eventually handing over the appropriate passage to Mitsunari. “Read, understand, teach. Where is your cat, Princess?”
Princess? Was Princess her? Too dumbstruck to really ask, she motioned voicelessly to the bedroom. “Uh, probably on my comforter.”
“Excellent.” And he sailed like a ghost in there. Mitsunari settled down onto the couch with his glasses and began to read.
It took the silvery demon about an hour to read through the passage and grasp it with (frustrating) clarity, and from there he tutored her until it was nearly dark. When they exhausted the book and she still wasn’t getting it, Mitsunari switched with infinite patience to another method that she was very sure wasn’t in the book--but that one clicked. She completed an equation and handed it off to him to double check, and when he shot her a smile and a “Correct!” she nearly screamed with delight.
“Thank you!” Flinging her arms around him, she trapped Mitsunari in a hug and found him very warm. “Thank you so, so much!”
“My pleasure!” He patted her shoulders gently. She could feel his own sharp nails poking at her skin, but they didn’t do much other than tickle her. “You worked very hard. Maybe we should stop here for tonight?”
“Yeah.” She pulled away, on the near verge of crying. Failure had seemed so certain and now, for the first time in weeks, it felt possible to pass that horrible class. A snicker; she realized for the first time that Mitsuhide had migrated to the living room again, her cat Theodora on his lap. “Oh! Hey. Um, are you sure you all don’t want something to eat? I can make like, rice and salmon or something, maybe some tea...”
She realized a bit too late that offering tea seemed a little on the nose for two demons summoned with kanji, but whatever thoughts they had on the subject, Mitsuhide just grinned and said, “Sure. Besides, I won’t take my leave for a while.”
“If you don’t mind...” Mitsunari caught up one of the books she’d set out as an offering, his eyes slowly transforming into those cat-like slits again. “I’d like to read this.”
“Oh, yeah, sure! Please! Have at it!” He’d earned it, after all. Bustling into the kitchen, she prepped the water and yanked down the boxes of tea bags. “Uh, what kinds do you guys want? I have Dragonfruit Blend, Mint and Vervaine, some classic green tea...”
“I’m fair game for anything,” Mitsuhide drawled, and she remembered all at once that he’d said he didn’t have tastebuds. That took enough of the wind out of her sails that she paused.
“Um, shit, can you taste, Mitsunari?”
But Mitsunari didn’t answer. He had the book open, his eyes roving over every sentence, absorbing them with wide-eyed fascination that she’d never seen from anyone reading about the early history of Sapphic poetry. Mitsuhide snickered.
“He’ll take the classic green tea. He can taste just fine.”
Alright then. She prepped one of each kind just for fun’s sake, and when the water finally whistled in the kettle she prepped the mugs and delivered them out to the coffee table, setting the cup in Mitsunari’s hand at Mitsuhide’s instruction. Like a robot, the silver-haired demon drank from it on reflex, utterly lost in the pages.
“Jesus.” She settled in on the floor, as the two demons had taken both of her chairs. “Wish I were that focused.”
“He’s a special one.” Mitsuhide chuckled and scritched Theodora right behind the ears. The cat purred so loud that she could hear it across the room. Now that she had the time to think about it, he wasn’t like what she thought a demon would be. A little slithery? Sure. Wily? Definitely. Dangerous? Oh, she had no doubt and no interest in finding out. But he wasn’t bad, and there were parts to him that really intrigued her.
“So why can’t you taste anything, if you don’t mind my asking?”
As if to generate more confusion, he lifted his mug and sipped from it for a long time. “Traded it.”
“Traded it?”
“Mhm. I cannot smell or taste. I traded it away for other skills.”
She was half-tempted to ask what those skills were, but he shot her a grin so predatory that she thought better of it and switched tacks instead. “You can just trade things?”
“As much as you can trade things with me.” His citrine eyes bloomed orange and yellow like a faltering sunset in the glow of her living room lamps, and she wondered if he’d once been something else, a man, a person with a flesh-and-blood heartbeat. “There are some among us that have that power.”
“That sounds pretty dangerous.”
“My dear little mouse,” he hissed a laugh, “We’re all very dangerous.”

Still On The Road: Part 4
Pairings: Jason Momoa x Reader (AU/ SOA crossover)

Part 1 / Part 2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Alright, princess. Walk, don’t run. Don’t touch anything bigger than both your hands together, and go pick out the prettiest ones you can find.” You reminded your daughter like you did every time you came shopping as you walked into your main supplier’s massive warehouse. Avery took off in the fastest walk possible with her play shopping cart that you had long since lined with a cotton lined cardboard box in front of her as Jason whistled loudly beside you.
“This is impressive.” He said as you grabbed a flat bed cart and set your fifty or so empty tote boxes of random sizes and on it.
“Welcome to my job.” You said as you pointed to the right to start from one side of the room so you could work your way across. “You know you could’a gone rock climbin’ with the rest of the guys.” You tried as you stopped in front of a five shelf shelving unit full of rose quartz in various sizes, shapes, and cuts.
“Truthfully?” He said as you grabbed the first tote off the stack and set it to the side. “I’m a little bit sun burnt from rafting yesterday so I’ll stick to the shade today.”
“Oh ho!” You teased as you grabbed a dozen palm sized hearts and laid them carefully in the bottom. “Mister muscles has a weakness. I told ya to put on the dang sunscreen.”
“Yea, well I have my bad days just like every one else.” He laughed as he looked around. “Do you want me to help?”
“No, it’s a’right.” You giggled as you picked up a rose shaped stone and looked at its quality. “Actually, yea.” You said as you looked over at him while putting the rose in the bottom of the tote. You grabbed the next tote and handed it to him “If ya wanna start with the tumbled stones. I need four dozen each of the rose quarts, the clear quarts, and the amethyst. So these small ones here. This one, this one, and the one behind me.” He nodded his head as you handed him the piece in your hand with a smile. “Be exact though, I pay for them individually and they give me a good price so I don’t wanna jip ‘em.”
“You got it.” He said as he stood beside you and started grabbing the tumbled stones from the basket. You grabbed a few more cute statue pieces, and a couple wands and points before putting the top on that box and moving on to grab similar items in the clear quarts. “So do you believe in this stuff?” He asked as he moved over to the shelf beside you.
“Not really.” You said as you rubbed your thumb across a small, black inclusion on one of the wands before adding it to the tote. “Kinda. I mean, they’re pretty to look at, and I have a few of them in my truck and my house and I got a piece of citrine in my wallet for prosperity, but if I have a head ache, I ain’t typically rubbing a rock on my forehead and shit. But to each his own, ya know. I have a book that tells me about the basic uses because I send out the information cards with each purchase, which means I have a basic, general knowledge… I don’t know, I live in nature so I guess I believe it by default if that makes any sorta sense.”
“I get it.” He said as he moved over to the amethyst. “I’m part Hawaiian and part Native American, remember. Eastern medicine traditions run deep in my blood. I turn to natural medicine over store bought stuff any day, but that’s how I was raised.”
“Do you miss it?” You asked as you moved on to the amethyst with a new tote. He looked over at you as you gave him a quick run down of the colors, and amounts you needed of the tumbled fluorite and he shrugged.
“I’ve been gone a long time.” He sighed as he started counting stones and carefully adding them to the box under his arm. “I went to college in Iowa, Colorado, and the Florida Keys, I’ve been to Paris, and Tibet to study painting and the Buddhist teachings, respectively. And I realized that I like traveling a hell of a lot more than I do anything else. Sure, Hawaii’s fucking gorgeous and all but damn, isn’t the rest of the world just as beautiful.” You paused and looked over at him as he grabbed the last handful of green fluorite and added it to the box.
“See, now where the hell have you been all my life?” He smirked and looked over at you with a shrug as he closed the tote and added it to the pile of full boxes.
“Traveling, just like you.” You nodded and put your amethyst box down with the rest.
“Well, if you ain’t just the most amazing man alive.”
“Shut up.” He laughed as he grabbed a new tote and pointed to the next group of shelves. “What’s next?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Are you sure you got that?” Jason asked as you sat on your bedroom floor, organizing the newest, smaller gemstones to their respectful drawers in the giant organizer in the bottom of your closet.
“I’ve been doin’ this for years, Jase.” You said over your shoulder as he and Avery, who had been asleep since five minutes in, watched Moana for the millionth time on your bed behind you. “I got it.”
“You know, you’re just making me feel bad over here.” He joked as he scratched Tink’s head, absentmindedly. You laughed and glanced over your shoulder at him as you slid the drawer of azurite in granite also known as K2 closed.
“Why?”
“I don’t know. Heavy lifting, male stereo type, all that shit.”
“I’m gunna stop you right there.” You laughed as you sorted out the aquamarine next. “Trust me when I tell you, I don’t need a man to take care of me. I gotta dog and a vibrator.” Jason burst out laughing and quickly covered his mouth when Avery stirred in her sleep beside him.
“Well then.” He said as he cleared his throat with a cough. “I’ll let you do your thing, then.” He shook his head and rested his hand on Avery’s stomach so she would stay asleep and she whined in her sleep. You turned around to look at her as Jason reached up to feel her forehead. “(Y/N), she’s really warm.”
“What?” You asked as you dropped the stones in your hand in the drawer and scrambled to your feet. You felt her forehead, worriedly as she moaned again. “Can you stay with her…”
“Yea, I’m here.” He said as you got up and headed to your bathroom to grab your thermometer.  You rushed back into the room and kneeled down on the bed beside her.
“101.” You sighed when the ear thermometer beeped. “Crap.”
“That’s almost hospital bad.” You shook your head as you sat down beside Avery and brushed the hair out of her face.
“Not yet, but that does mean I’m stuck in Tucson for a couple days until she gets better. She’s a monster when she’s sick.”
“Are you safe to stay here?” You looked over at him out of the corner of your eye and shook your head the slightest bit.
“They have a charter in Tucson… and the club house is about twenty minutes from here.”
“Shit.” He groaned as he ran his fingers through his hair. “Alright, so we stay under the radar. I’ll  make all the runs…”
“Jase…” You tried but he shook his head.
“I’m here, (Y/N).” He said softly as Avery groaned in her sleep again. “Even if the other guys go, I’m staying right here.” You nodded slowly as you looked back down at your daughter.
“Alright.” You whispered with another look over at him. “Can you run up to the store for me?”
“Just tell me what you need, sweetheart.”
——
“Mommy it hurts!” Avery screamed as you sat on the small seat in the shower with her early the next morning.
“I know, baby girl.” You breathed with a nod of your head as you tried to quickly wash the vomit from her hair so you could take her to the hospital. “Just hold on for me, OK?” She nodded slowly and continued to sob as you grabbed the hand held shower sprayer.
“I grabbed her a dress from the closet.” Jason said as he laid down the clothes you asked him to grab on the toilet. “I took Tink out and put her up in Avery’s room with some food and water.”
“Thanks, Jay.” You said as you turned off the water and grabbed a towel off the counter. “Alright, baby. Mommy’s gunna make it better.” You got out of the shower, dried her off, and got both of you dressed as quickly as possible. You went to carry her out of the RV to your truck, but Jason easily took her out of your hands.
“Come on, princess.” He said softly as he rubbed her back and walked as carefully as he could down the stairs. Your hands shook as you locked the door behind you and ran to open the back door of your truck. A small, very weak smile pulled at the corner of your lips when you heard Jason singing ‘You’re Welcome’ to her softly as he set her gently in her car seat.
“You’re good with her.” You whispered as he buckled her in and checked to make sure the strap was tight.
“She reminds me of my goddaughter.” You nodded your head as he shut the back door and pulled your door open for you. You got in and buckled your seatbelt quickly as Jason jogged around the front of the truck and got in the passenger seat. He put the hospital’s address in your GPS and sighed.
“It’s alright, baby girl.” You tried again as Avery continued to cry in the backseat. “It’s all gunna be OK, soon.”
——
After getting to the hospital, every thing went at lightening speed. Within two hours, Avery had been diagnosed, and taken to emergency surgery to have her appendix removed. You knew you didn’t have a choice but to call Chibs and sure enough, not twenty minutes after you hung up the phone with him, three members of SAMTAZ showed up at the hospitals doors.
“Are they gunna try to take her?” Jason asked as you paced in a small circle in front of him. You shook your head as you watched one of the guys point you out through the window to another guy on his cell.
“Probably just making sure I’m telling the truth, and not trying to draw him into a trap for violating parole by leaving the state before his probation officer OK’s it.” He nodded at you as you looked down at your feet and continued to pace in the waiting room.
“She’s gunna be fine, baby.” Jason said softly as he watched you walk back and forth. “She’s a fighter, I know it.” You nodded your head, mechanically as you started chewing on your thumb nail. After almost three hours, a nurse finally came out to tell you Avery was finally in recovery.
“He’s with me.” You informed her as you reached back and grabbed Jason’s hand. The nurse gave you a single nod and glanced over your shoulder at the three bikers outside before signaling you to follow her. You wove through the maze of hallways with tears in your eyes and you let out a choked laugh when you finally saw your baby girl.
“Oh, Avery.” You breathed as you walked quickly to her side. She barely blinked, still groggy from the anesthesia, but rolled her head toward the sound of your voice. “You’re OK, baby girl. Mommy’s here. Mommy’s right here, OK?” She let out a little whine as Jason grabbed both of you chairs and set them down at her bedside.
“Bet she’s gunna be really excited that she can eat ice cream for breakfast for a couple days.” He said with a small chuckle as he reached out to softly rub your back. You huffed a laugh and smiled as you ran your fingers through Avery’s curly brown hair.
“Ice cream and milkshakes for days.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Where is she?” Chibs voice called out down the hall at the nurses station. “Avery Lynn Telford, where’s m’child?” You sighed and glanced over at Jason with a shake of your head.
“Don’t engage no matter what he says.” He gave you the slightest nod as Avery’s hospital room door opened behind you.
“Wha’ ‘appened?” Chibs demanded as he walked quickly into the room and got a look at his sick, sleeping daughter and the remaining faint red ant bites on what you could see of her arms.
“She had appendicitis. And those are just ant bite from 4th of July.” You said softly so you didn’t wake up your daughter up. “Keep your voice down…”
“Bloody hell were ye doing with ‘er…”
“Jesus Christ.” You said as you looked over at him. “What, you think I shoved dirt down her throat and made her sit in an ant pile or something? She got sick, Filip. She’s a kid.”
“Yea, a kid tha’ should ‘ave a roof ov’a ‘er head an’ not be livin’ on the damn streets like some piece of fuckin’ garbage.”
“Oh, fucking bite me.” You snapped as you flipped him off. “You lived that life for two years, too. You’re just pissed you don’t get to see her as much as you’d like. Look, you’re here as a fucking favor, I could have just as easily told you six months down the line that she had surgery. So if you’re sticking around, sit down, shut up, and be there for your daughter or get the fuck out. We clear?”
“Piss off, ye bloody gash.” He growled as he dragged a chair over to the end of the bed and flopped down on it hard.
“Fuck you.” You retorted as you glanced over your shoulder at Jax and Juice. “Boys.”
“Hey, (Y/N).” Juice said with a nod while Jax simply stared at you, blankly. “How is she?”
“Sleepin’ thankfully and outta pain.” He nodded his head, glanced up at Jason with a tight-lipped smile.
“I’m Juice.” He tried before Jax whacked his stomach, and Chibs gave him a death glare.
“Jason.” You rolled your eyes at the Sons and looked across the room at your friend with an apologetic smile.
“Mommy?” Avery said softly as she stirred the slightest bit. You sat up a little straighter beside her and smiled.
“I’m right here, baby.”
“‘ey, m’ lit’l luv.” Chibs said, sweetly as he jumped to his feet and moved his chair to the other side of the bed. “Daddy’s ‘ere, too.” She rolled her head the slightest bit to look over at him.
“You’re here?” She whispered as she searched his face.
“Course, I’m ‘ere, princess. Ye’re m’ lit’l girl.” She gave him a small smile, and tears welled in her eyes tired, closing eyes.
“You’ll still leave.” She whispered as her pain killers kicked back in again. “You always leave me.” Tears spilled from your eyes as you looked up at your ex.
“Sad that your own kid only knows ya for that.” You growled as you reached out to hold your daughter’s hand. He looked up at you angrily, but you could still see the hint of tears in his eyes.
“Text me when she leaves ‘ere.” He said as he got up from his chair. He looked down at his baby girl, and shook his head the slightest bit. “Then don’t ever fuckin’ call me again.” Your heart lurched in your chest as he leaned down, and kissed Avery’s forehead while Juice said his name behind you.
“Filip…” You tried as he pulled out his wallet, and grabbed every bit of cash he had on him. “That’s not what I want…”
“It’s what I want.” He said as he dropped the cash on the table, and walked out of the room. “I won’t let ‘er opinion’a me be pain for the rest’a ‘er life. Jus’ tell ‘er I’ll always luv ‘er.”
“Filip.” You repeated as you got up from your chair quickly and followed him to the door.
“Take ‘er ta Disney wit’ tha’ cash.” He said as he paused in the doorway and took one last look at his baby girl. “And take care’a my lit’l girl.”
“Filip, don’t do this.” You said as you followed him out the door with tears falling down your face. You looked up at Jax and shook your head. “Don’t let him do this…”
“It’s better this way, (Y/N).” Was all the VP said as he turned and followed your ex down the hallway.
“Filip…” You cried as Jason wrapped his arms around your waist loosely. “ Filip, don’t do this!” You grabbed Jason’s arms tightly as your ex pushed the elevator button and put his sunglasses on his face to hide his tears. “Filip, she’s your daughter!”
“Let him go, sweetheart.” Jason said softly as you covered your mouth with your hands and cried. “Give him time to really think about it.”
“But my baby…” You cried into your palms as you watched your daughter’s father walk into the elevator without a single look back. You instantly turned in Jason’s arms and burst into sobs as he rubbed your back and told the nurses you were fine.
“She has you, sweetheart.” He said as he carefully walked you back into the room and closed the door for some privacy. “She’ll always have her mom.”
“I didn’t want that.” You said as you shook your head and fisted his shirt in your palms.
“I know, baby girl.” He whispered as he held you tightly. “It’s gunna be OK.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You should have been surprised to see two patched members of SAMTAZ sitting outside your RV when you brought Avery back from the hospital two days after her surgery but after what happened with Chibs at the hospital, you almost expected it. You pulled your truck up beside Jason’s and put it in park with a sigh.
“Can you just take her in to her bed?” You asked with a glance over at Jason. He nodded and got out of the truck.
“(Y/N)?” The taller of the two asked as you put your sunglasses on top of your head and went over to unlock the front door for Jason and let Tink out.
“Yep.” You said with a nod as you held your door open and caught Tink by the collar before she could run at the men. They both took a hesitant step back before the taller man took a couple steps toward you.
“Chibs wanted us to pass this along.” He said as he reached into his kutte and pulled out a thick, manilla envelope. “Told us to let you know his number’s been changed, and you’re not welcome in Charming anymore. You will be stopped if you try.” You nodded your head and  moved to stand on either side of your pit bull to hold her in place with your calves.
“He’s really doing this, ain’t he?” You sighed as you took the envelope from him.
“He don’t want his kid to grow up with that much hate in her heart.” The second guy said with a shrug. “I get it. Had to do the same thing to my baby mama when I was inside for ten years.” You nodded your head and looked in the envelop at the large stacks of cash, and a few folded up pieces of paper. You flipped the top closed again and closed your eyes to fight back your tears.
“Can you…” You tried, but your voice cracked a bit. You cleared your throat and shook your head as you dropped your sunglasses back down on your face. “Can you tell him we love him?” You asked as you folded your arms across your chest. “Tell him I’m sorry I drove him to make this choice and that I’m sorry for everything.” The two men nodded their heads as they got on their bikes and put on their sunglasses and helmets. Without another word, they started up their Harleys and pulled out of the RV park, leaving you alone in their dust.
You let Tink go with your legs so she could go to the bathroom and called her back inside so you could figure out what Chibs sent with the money. You checked on Avery, who was peacefully sleeping in her bed, and helped Tink up onto her bed gently so she wouldn’t wake up before heading into your room, where Jason was watching the baseball game quietly and waiting for you so you could take a much needed nap.
“What’s that?” He asked as he shut off the TV and sat up a bit on the bed.
“Chibs’ good bye, I guess.” You climbed up on the bed and sat between his thighs with a heavy sigh. You dumped the contents on your lap and grabbed the papers first. You looked at Chibs’ rough, scrolled handwriting and you could see the couple spots that had been smeared by his tears. Your heart broke for him and you held out the letter so that your own tears wouldn’t smear the ink even more.
My darling Avery Lynn,
First and foremost, I need you to know that I have and always will love you with all of my heart. I know you may not believe that, but it is true. Unfortunately, your mother and I weren’t able to make things work out between us, but my leaving had nothing to do with you, princess.
You see, your father is a bad man. I’m a criminal, a liar, and a thief. I have done some inexcusable things in my life, and no matter how hard I tried to escape them to be the father that you deserve, I wasn’t able to. And I will always regret that. God, you have no bloody idea how much I will regret that shite because it meant losing one of the few good things life has given me; you.
That being said, I want what’s best for you, my precious little girl, and that means not having me in your life. All I have done is hurt you in the past two years, and I can’t live with myself for doing that to you. And I know that if I try to stay in your life from this point on, all I will do is continue to hurt you more. I don’t want to do that to you, baby girl. So I need to step away because right now, that’s the best thing I have to offer you.
I’m so sorry, Avery for all the pain I have caused you. I’m sorry that your memories of me are so negative. I’m sorry for putting you and your mother through such hell. I’m sorry that I couldn’t tell you all this in person, but I don’t think I’d be able to make it through if I did. I’m sorry that I won’t be there to watch you grow up into the beautiful woman I know you will be… but I know, in my heart, that it is better this way.
I love you, Avery. I will always love you, and not a day has or will go by that I don’t think of you. Be good for your mum for me, and give Tinkerbell an extra kiss each night for me, as well.
‘May the Lord hold you in his hand, and may he never close his fist too tight.’
All my love,
Dad.
You set the two page letter aside and looked at the next page through your tears.
(Y/N),
To help you raise your daughter as you see fit, whether that be on the road, or settled down somewhere far, far away from me. Attached is information for a bank account in her name for a university fund that can’t be accessed by either of us until she’s eighteen. I’ll add more funds to it over time so you won’t need to, but it has enough in it for four years at a decent university as is in case something happens to me.
Thank you for giving me two beautiful years with her. I will cherish them until I die.
Filip.
Tears poured silently down your cheeks as you glanced at the bank account information before setting them all aside.
“I didn’t want this.” You cried as you shoved the money off your lap and curled into a ball against Jason’s chest.
“I know, baby.” He sighed as he wrapped his arms around you and brushed his calloused hands across your arm. He let you cry it out without a word until you had no tears left to shed.
“Bet this isn’t what you though you’d sign up for when you saved my kid from fire ants.” You joked half-heartedly as you brushed your fingertips across the triangle patterned tattoo on his arm.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.” You looked up at him through your lashes and he shrugged his shoulder. “Hey, the past two weeks with you and Avery have been full of more excitement than I have had in a long, long time. I’m following you guys around for a while, see what other kinds of fun I can get into. Plus, you promised me a Disney trip. I’m not passing that up for anything.” You smiled as he reached up to wipe the tears off your cheeks with his thumb.
“Well, you’re more than welcome to hang around for as long as you want.” You told him with a nod. “I’m absolutely not crazy enough kick your gorgeous body out of bed.”
“Wow.” He laughed as he tilted his head to see your face a little better. “Way to make me feel like just a piece of meat.” Your smile grew even more as you rolled onto your back so you could avoid his eyes for a moment.
“‘What can I say except you’re welcome’.” Your mocking singing was cut of with a laughed as he tickled your sides.
“God, you’re such a smart ass.” He laughed as he leaned forward to look down at you. You reached up and gently cupped his jaw in your hands.
“I make life fun, what can I say?”
“You don’t have to say anything more than that, baby girl.” He breathed as he let you bring his face down to yours. He kissed you gently with pillow soft lips and you smiled against them as he brushed his hands across your stomach. He pulled back to look at you with a smile as his long hair created a curtain around both your faces.
“Will you stay with us?” You whispered as you brushed your thumbs across his cheeks.
“For as long as you’ll have me, sweetheart.”

hi! i'm trying to make a "witchcraft starter kit" for my sister as a x-mas gift b/c she always talks about wanting to be a witch. i want to gift her a good beginner book on witchcraft & some tools: a few herbs, candles (maybe 1 white, 1 black? i cant afford all colors), a crystal, a tarot deck. problem is, idk what other tools witches of all types might consider essential, & i haven't been able to find a good book that isn't wiccan or isn't full of cultural appropriation. any advice? thank you.
This is actually a really cute gift idea, and very personable as well. Tailor it to what she is in to and what you think she may be interested in casting. But here are a few ideas for you:
Books:
Books Tag - I am going to be a bit lazy and just leave that there because there are a bunch of good book references in that tag. As a pre-warning, all books should be read with a bit of skepticism because it is the authors view on magic and doesn’t work in all cases. Plus like you mentioned a lot of them (especially the older ones) are written from a Wiccan POV and/or are full of cultural appropriation.
Of Witchcraft & Whimsy - Written by @orriculum, this is a great beginner book, and really cute as well too.
Pastel Spells - Also written by Orriculum, I haven’t actually gotten a chance to buy this one yet but I adore Orriculum and her content so I am positive its a goodie.
The Sisters Grimmoire: Spells and Charms for Your Happily Ever After - You see this one floating around and its by @breelandwalker & is pretty wonderful as well. She also wrote Grovedaughter Witchery: Practical Spellcraft which is another good purchase.
Herbs:
This is tough because its really what you think she is going to be using the most. Here are some that are pretty useful for various things (and you can find in your spice cabinet).
Salt - this seems so basic but its a staple. You can go with table salt or fancy salt if you want to look fancy, or go to the craft store and buy a cute jar and pour it in and label it. But salt is something I would definitely include.
Rosemary
Lavender
Rose
Basil
Oregano
Thyme
Sage (Doesn’t have to be white sage)
Bay Leaves
Mint
Chamomile
Cinnamon
Ginger
Garlic
Alternatively, if you can have a small garden or if that is anything your sister may be in to eventually, you can get her seeds of some of the above as well and she can grow her own witchy garden.
Candles:
I think candles is a great idea. You can definitely go one white and one black, and remember they don’t need to be large either! You can get tea lights for really cheap (I get white tea lights at ikea for something like $5 for 100 tealights) OR you can get birthday candles in various colors at the dollar store which work beautifully as well. Plus those are great because they don’t burn long, so if you are waiting for a candle to burn down in a spell you aren’t waiting for like… 3 hours. I am just impatient and have shit to do though, lmao! Chime candles are also great if you need a slightly longer burn time, and they are also really affordable at places like amazon. Check sale sections in places like craft stores as well, as you can find candles there fairly often. At least mine typically has candles in the sale section from previous holidays.
Tarot Deck:
Base this on what type of art you think she would enjoy and connect with.
Crystals:
A few good starter crystals:
Clear Quartz
Tigers Eye
Selenite
Amethyst
Smokey Quartz
Rose Quartz
Quartz in general (you notice a trend)
Labradorite
Onyx
Jet
Obsidian
Copper (not a crystal I know, but I use copper a lot and this is the best section)
Agate
Citrine
Other Tools:
Oils (essential or even just a base oil like jojoba or olive) are sometimes useful.
JARS - you can get new fancy ones at the grocery store or start saving and cleaning out those sauce jars from shit like spaghetti or alcohol or jam or whatever. They are incredibly useful for so many things.
A Wand - I don’t personally use mine a whole lot but she might and it could be fun to include
A nice pen - Witches like to write shit down and a good pen goes a long way. I am a bit obsessed with pens.
A Journal - So she can write things down and start a grimoire or correspondence book or whatever she fancies!
Tea/Tea bags - If she likes tea, tea is good.
Incense - if you guys can burn it where you are at?
Hopefully that helps a bit! Tools aren’t needed by any means, but you can’t really wrap up nothing. Good luck to both of you, and send her the way of tumblr as well because tumblr can be an awesome resource!

Depression repellent soap!
TW: mentions of depression and suicide thoughts/attempts
This post is dedicated to my friends who are still struggling. Mama Rami loves you, deeply and truly. Keep fighting.
I’ll document briefly my experience living with depression since I was a toddler in italics. If you’d rather just skip this part and get to the soap, I get it. I’ll mark it with a title.
I feel I need to say something before just throwing out there a magickal aid to keep depression at bay. First of all, remember this is NO SUBSTITUTE FOR ACTUAL MEDICAL TREATMENT. Magick is a little boost. A push. It won’t change anything unless you complement it with corporeal actions.
So as you may or may not know, I’ve been struggling with depression since basically my birth. One of my earliest memories is of a suicide attempt at age 4.
Lately my life is finally looking bright. I found a job I love that pays like shit, but hey, it’s mine, I’m great at it, and it makes me happy.
My love life is a drag but I feel really good about it. I always basically jumped from one relationship to another and now I’m close to two years of being single and it’s been a very good couple of years.
However, this doesn’t mean my depression doesn’t like coming and going. I try to keep myself away from a maniac episode, but I’ve been exercising and having fun. I’m not “cured”, nor I’ll ever be. But the future, maybe for the first time ever, looks promising.
I had hit rock bottom something close to three years ago. I was keeping a calendar recording all my suicidal impulses, as some sort of countdown.
And that’s when I decided I could either get help, or die.
I never really believed in therapy. All psychologists and psychiatrists always only seemed to me like morons who didn’t really help AT ALL and just sat there milking money from me or my insurance.
In what could have been my final hours, I decided that if everything was lost already, so why not try one last time? I mean, I had already decided to kill myself, had chosen the perfect method, had timed the perfect moment. I had a couple of days left. Why not try to get professional help at least one last time?
The last psychiatrist I saw prescribed me prozac.
It changed my life.
I won’t go deeply into detail. After all, you know what happened. I’m clearly not gone (or am I!? zombie blogging hurr durr) and although things might not be “objectively” better...
My life is good... My life is so very, mundanely, good.
I sang in the car today coming back from work and I stood under the sun and I smiled to myself.
I feel things. I feel bad and happy things. But I can FEEL.
I know they always say the same, that “life gets better”. That’s not true. Life sometimes is objectively shit. But we... we get better. We see the same cesspool of hypocrisy and don’t think it’s pointless. We feel we can make it through today, that we have the energy to spare, to live.
Find help. Reach out. There are people who want to help you. We want you to live and not just breathing in and out until you can’t anymore, we want you to live for real. There’s a good life waiting for you.
Don’t be afraid of using medication to balance your brain chemistry.
You’ll get better.
Today I found a shard of blue glass and I thought it was pretty and kept it in my pocket.
It was just a shard of blue glass but I found it beautiful and worth having.
With its million small good moments in the storm of all things awful...
Life is still worth living.
Some days, however, I’m more tired than usual. And I’m not ashamed to say I need a little boost. I won’t pretend depression isn’t a ghost that haunts you. Some days I don’t have the strength to realize how beautiful my little miracles are.
I’m no longer on prozac, so my brain is on its own to keep its balance.
Of course, a little magick always helps.
How to make my depression repellent revitalizing soap
You’ll need:
A bar of soap of your preferred scent that you associate with happiness, energy, strength, etc.
Sun water.
Rose water.
A yellow candle.
An orange candle.
Crystals or stones you associate with your preferred intent: I used unakite (I associate it with spring and I did this ritual during Ostara), pink quartz (self love), amethyst (balance), clear quartz (purification), Himalayan pink salt (purification), rhodochrosite (vitality and self love). I also highly recommend you use citrine since it’s associated with sun and happiness.
Something to carve the soap with, like a nail or a knife.
One of these sigils by @sigilathenaeum I personally used this one:
Tumblr media
Let’s get started.
So you can basically skip the whole process and step straight into the carving part, forget about the waters and whatnot, choose different crystals or not choose to use them at all, simply carve and we’re good to go. But I insist this is the most important step:
1) Choose the right soap.
I shit you not, I spent 20 minutes in the hygiene aisle in the supermarket choosing the right soap. Pick one that’s gonna represent exactly what you feel you need to keep your depression at bay. There are dozens of possible scent and color combinations, pick THE RIGHT ONE. Try to make this budget friendly too, because sadly this soap will run out eventually (although I have a little trick to prevent that) and you’ll probably have to get more.
I personally chose a delicious orange and lemon glycerin soap. It was like $1 and smells amazing.
I had never performed a spell for myself before this one, but I’ve made this soap for other people with other issues before. If you’re gonna be adapting this spell to prevent anxiety I’d recommend something like lavender scent. If recovering from trauma, eucalyptus, mint or aloe are good options. A bad break up or need a self-love boost? Rose or floral scents. Feeling unsafe? Cinnamon or spice.
However, the most important thing is that you like the scent! No, more than that.
IT’S IMPORTANT THAT YOU LOVE HOW THIS SOAP SMELLS ON YOUR SKIN. It’ll be a protective layer that’ll cover your whole body. Make sure you like it!
2) Carve the sigil in the soap bar, not too deep.
I used a nail, but a needle, a knife, even a pencil, they can all work. Soap is really easy to work with!
Tumblr media
3) If you care about moon phases, I’d recommend you perform this spell under the waxing crescent phase (after the new moon, when it starts shining again, it represents growth and improvement) or the full moon (it represents plenitude and prosperity).
4) Perform the spell.
Anoint your candles and cast your circle if that’s your thing, light them. Align the crystals and stones around the bar. You can carve the soap at this moment, but I personally did it beforehand. Place the crystals over the soap. Rub a drop of rose water and/or sun water around the bar. I used my crystal bell to bring lightness and joy into my soap. Do your thing, you know how this works. Intent, chanting if you want it. Do it for as long as you feel you must. REMEMBER TO GROUND AFTER PERFORMING ANY SORT OF SPELL.
Tumblr media
5) Try it out.
When you use the soap, the sigil will be erased because of the water and the friction. It’ll melt into your skin and into the soap. If you don’t use a glycerin soap, it could take one or two baths, but eventually it’ll settle there completely.
Tumblr media
6) When you need it.
Use this soap when you feel you need it. If you need it every time you shower, use it. If you feel you need it once a month, that’s alright.
7) Do it as many times as you need to... or not!
WHEN YOUR BAR IS ABOUT TO RUN OUT, MY TRICK IS GETTING THE SAME KIND OF SOAP (you don’t have to, I’m just picky like that) AND FUSE THE LITTLE BIT YOU HAVE WITH THE NEW BAR. This will transfer all the properties to the new bar without needing to repeat the spell every time.
8) Store it.
Keep your soap somewhere dry. If you don’t have a soap case, you can use just a regular plastic bag.
Tumblr media
9) Remember to wash behind your ears.
Happy cleansing!

PLEASE REBLOG. IF NOT YOU, SOMEONE ELSE COULD NEED IT.

Mercka Squad: Chapter Two
Old Wounds
Amethyst double checked the harness straps across her chest and belly, making sure they were tight enough without being too tight. She just spent a great deal of creds to get it adjusted to fit her smaller frame and she’d not had time to try it out beforehand.
The purple kobold picked up her freshly packed magazine and slapped it into the well-worn Glock. It looked large in her hand but it wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle. She slid it home into the holster under her arm.
“Why does she do this to herself?”
Ruby shifted her cigarette to the corner of her mouth with her tongue as she dragged her steel along the blade of her combat knife.
“She’s got self-inflicted demons keeping her on the cross. No one can make her climb down, that’s something she’ll have to do on her own.” Ruby said snidely.
“It’s sad.” Citrine took the cigarette from Ruby, taking a drag from it before putting it back.
Amethyst watched the yellow kobold tightening the laces up the side of one of her legs, pulling the camo fabric tighter. The she slipped her foot into a toeless boot, tying it as tightly as she could.
“Hey, Tubs, take a picture, it’ll last longer.”
There was a swirling jealousy in Ruby’s eyes that only ever reared its head when Citrine was involved.
“Sorry,” Amethyst snapped and rolled her eyes towards the greenish sky.
It was the residual radiation glow from outside the safe zone. It had long since chased away the blue tint. Sometimes when the sun managed to break through the cloud layer, they’d be treated to a hint of blue but it never lasts.
Amethyst checked the two knives sheathed at her hips, making sure they were snapped in tight.
“How long’s she been in there?” Amethyst asked
Ruby tumbled the combat knife around in her hand before sheathing it at her back.
“Two minutes.” She said.
“God, it feels like she’s been in there forever, here.” Amethyst replied grimly.
She picked up the machete leaning against the oil barrel she sat on and held it out to Citrine.
The yellow kobold reached up to her shoulder, her face twisting in confusion. A shy smirk rippled up her narrow muzzle.
“Oh, that’s right, I set it down.”
She took the sheath and pulled it over her head so the strap rested across her chest. Ruby pulled the strap tighter beneath her ribs, so it wouldn’t bounce about as much.
“Thank you.” Citrine whispered, even though it was aimed at Ruby, it was meant for both.
Ruby caressed her fingers along Citrine’s feathered head and leaned in for a kiss. The lithe kobold giggled with a girlish glee before her sounds were cut off by the lewd smacks of an exaggerated kiss. Amethyst watched them, her own jealousy starting to boil up inside of her.
She turned her attention back to the large building Sapphire had gone into. It was nothing more than hastily constructed corrugated steel sheets and plywood that held it together but that was pretty much any shack in the whole town.
“I wonder how it’s going in there.” She mused.
Ruby grunted and slapped the side of the large barrel behind her.
“If you’re so concerned Amy, why don’t you go in there and ask her?”
She glared at the heavier set kobold for a moment before picking up the long ranged rifle lying on the ground next to them and passed it to Citrine.
Amethyst hissed. “Why are you so mean to me?”
“Because you sit there and worry yourself sweaty over this every time Sappy comes here. It always goes the same fucking way. She comes out all sad and stone faced, we ask her how she is and she just says ‘fine’.”
Ruby’s face softened as Citrine pulled her into leaning against her with one hand. Her other hand struggled to slip the rifle over her shoulder without snagging it on the machete that already hung there.
“I know she isn’t fine,” Ruby continued. “You know it, even Citrine knows it.”
“What?” Citrine asked, settling for having the rifle resting on her shoulder than slug across her back.
“Nothing, City,” Ruby caressed her cheek with the back of her hand. “I don’t mean to be so pissy about it Amy. We can’t force her to let us in; we can’t force her to talk about it. All we can do is, you know, be there for her when that levee breaks and trust me, it will break.”
“I guess you’re right.” Amethyst sighed and looked back at the building.
***
Sapphire’s sinuses were filled with the smell of machines, motor oil, and the acrid scent of rust. She stood next to the large utility truck and waited patiently for the tall, thick human to conclude his business with the shorter and much stouter dwarf.
The gruff looking human carried the visage of her husband, so much that the sight of him stole her breath and made her legs weak. That’s how it always was when she came to see him.
“So, Grundle, I did what I could but you need to watch where you drive that hunk of junk. I gave you the last axel I had, possibly the last one in all existence and I did what I could for the other one. Four-wheel-drive is impressive and all but I advise you to stick to the roads.”
Even his voice echoed like a voice from her past. Sweat prickled along the ridges of her curved horns. She quickly dabbed them away on the back of her fingerless gloves. It was already hard enough to hide her weakness away from him. Sweating was just as bad as sobbing and there would be none of that, not this time.
“Is that so, lad, well, I’ll do my best but my work takes me to places where no other shite car could take me.” The dwarf, Grundle, grunted.
“Well, you’ve been warned, I can’t make it any clearer than that.” The human passed him a tablet with a cracked screen.
“Holy bells of Saint Lupida, it’ll cost me that much?”
“Grundle, I don’t have a supplier. All that shit I packed into your vehicle; I have to go out and gather that up myself. I lost two workers and a vehicle to creepers just last week; I barely got away with my life. It’s getting dangerous out there.” There was a desperation in his voice that drew up the dwarf’s hands in understand.
“Alright, boyo, take it.” The dwarf pressed his thumb to the pad and the screen flashed green for a moment.
“Thanks, Grundle.”
“Aye, I know you wouldn’t cheat me, you’re too good of a dude for that.” The dwarf took his hand and shook it roughly before collecting his receipt. “See ya around, Dion, hopefully not too soon though.”
The two laughed and Sapphire watched the dwarf climb up into the cab of the old utility truck and slowly pull out of the shop. It was then that the human, Dion, noticed her. He was walk back towards his office without regards for her. Sapphire was used to it, she knew he wouldn’t want to see her, he never did.
Sapphire followed him into the cramped space of his office. The smell of machines fell a bit, replaced by the smell of old car air fresheners and the musky cologne that Dion wore. It was the same David wore. It caused her mouth to water slightly which in turn made her cheeks flush red.
“Sapphire.” He finally regarded her as he poured over his tablet.
“Dion.”
“I thought I told you to stop coming around here.” He scrolled through his tablet before finding his next project.
“I know.”
“You know but that don’t stop you from coming around. You’re worse than fleas.”
“I’ve come to-”
“He doesn’t want your goddamn money. He doesn’t need it. What he wants is to forget you even exist.” Dion slammed his hand on the desk.
“He was my son.”
“Stepson!”
“Step…” Sapphire’s body shuddered at the spike in his voice.
“It’s bad enough that you lured David into your bed but then you brought him along on whatever adventures you deemed right, leaving Billy in my care.” Dion shouted angrily.
“He was heartbroken. I was just trying to give him something to focus on besides a dead wife.” Sapphire retorted.
“He should have been focusing on his son and not burying his bone in your scaly tail.”
“We were in love.” Sapphire gasped, clenching her fists so tightly that her claws bit into the leather of her gloves.
“Then why did you let him get killed?”
Dion slammed a hand onto the wall above Sapphire. He was easily three feet taller than her and four times her weight but she didn’t cower to his size, she cowered to the fire in his eyes. A pit opened in her stomach, threatening to swallow her up.
“It was a simple run, the tunnels were sealed. There weren’t supposed to be any creepers down there. We fought them; we fought them for so long. If he wouldn’t have pushed me out and sealed the door…I-I-”
“You’d of died too. Good. Then Billy and I wouldn’t have to look at you coming in here every few days trying to buy your salvation, trying to buy our forgiveness.”
Venom dripped from his lips. When he pushed away from the wall, it shuddered as hard as she was now.
“I just want to help.”
“Then help yourself to this,” Dion pulled a gun from beneath his brown work coat and pressed the barrel to her forehead. “If you ever come around here again, I’ll fucking finish you off for good.”
She could feel the metal warmed from being close to his body. The smell of the gun oil was even warmer in her nostrils as it prickled sweat all over her face. The pit in her stomach slowly began to fill itself in with rage. The sizzling of a fuse burned in the back of her mind and at that moment it ignited.
Dion was a strong capable human but he’d not expected her to fight back, he’d not expected her to be pushed that far. Her hand snapped up and pulled the barrel towards the wall behind her. The first crack was deafening in the small room. The wall splintered behind her and she used this opening for her chance to put all her weight into him. A quick lash of her tail coiled around his ankle and pulled him off balance.
Dion fell back through the door on the opposite side of the small room. His head hit the wooden railing of the platform just outside. Sapphire wrestled the revolver away from him, quickly ejecting the rest of the bullets before throwing the gun back into his lap.
“You stupid son of a bitch,” Her voice could be just as deadly as his at this caliber. “You lost a brother, I lost everything! I lost a son and a husband. I lost the love of my life. I lost my house which you moved your fat ass into. I lost everything, you hear me, Dion.”
“I…”
“Shut your fucking mouth,” Sapphire jerked her own iron from the holster at her hip and aimed it at him. “I’ve listen to you ramble about how bad you have it! Now, you’ll listen to me for a change.”
His eyes went wide at the sight of the gun that was wholly familiar to him. “Al-alright, don’t do anything stupid.”
“Like let you badger me into feeling like it’s my fault, never again!” Sapphire eased the hammer back. “I just received a job, an end all be all job. When I’m done, I’m coming back for Billy and my house and everything I was too afraid to fight you for. Shit’s gonna change and there’s nothing that you can do to stop me.”
“Momma?”
Sapphire froze, almost too afraid to look back at the shadow that fell over her. Quickly she disarm her gun and tuck it back into the holster.
When she turned around, she saw the boy that was damn near a man now. His face was impossibly soft with soulful brown eyes just like his father. It took all the rest of her strength to not break down.
“Momma, what’s going on here?”
“Now, Billy, we’re just having a little disagreement here. Why don’t you go back upstairs until we settle this?” Dion said.
He grabbed the railing and pulled himself up. His gun slipped from his lap hitting the metal platform at his feet with a clang.
The lad’s large brown eyes looked from his uncle to the small kobold and then to the gun.
“Never you mind about that boy.” He picked it up and tucked it away.
Sapphire marveled at how tall he was now. He was at least a couple feet taller than her. It brought a smile to her face. Her crystal blue eyes found his in the strange fluorescent glow from above.
“Oh Billy, you’ve grown so much.”
“Momma, where have you been? I haven’t seen you in a couple years.”
He knelt down and rested a hand at the back of her neck. She closed her eyes at his affectionate touch. His once baby soft fingers were now taut with small callouses. It made her heart hurt to think how much she’d missed out on already.
“Maybe you should ask your uncle about it?” She managed to say through the lump in her throat.
“That’s ah…quite a story and maybe we should sit down and talk about it just the three of us, once you get back from the job you took, right?” Dion stammered.
For some reason, his stature was much smaller that she remembered.
“Going on another mission?”
“Yeah but this is the big one,” She smiled up at him. “The last one and then I’ll be coming home for good.”
“Really?” Billy smiled.
He had his father’s easy smile; it caused tears to well in her eyes. The levee bowed around the emotional wave that was piling up.
“I promise.” She adjusted the worn collar of his blue work shirt. “But for now, take this.” She punched a few numbers on her credit card and passed it to him.
“Five thousand?” His eyes went wide. “Momma, how-”
“It’s fine. Don’t go crazy with it, though. Put it with the rest of the money I gave to Dion to pass on to you.”
“The rest of it?” He asked quietly.
Sapphire wasn’t surprised by this in the slightest.
“It seems like you and your uncle have a lot more to talk about while I’m gone.” Sapphire smiled.
Billy looked at the man that was a foot taller than him but said nothing. Sapphire heard a soft swallow coming from Dion. She could almost hear his spine breaking down by the second.
“Now, give me a hug.”
She wrapped her arms around the taller boy’s neck. In the same instant, he did the same, having to crouch to really get in there.
“I’ll be back soon and you be a good boy.”
“I will.” He groaned as she doubled the strength of her hug. “It was really nice to see you again, momma.”
Sapphire pulled back to look at him, tears ran down her cheeks. “It was nice to see you too, sweetie. I love you.”
“I love you too.” He kissed her cheek and she felt light as a feather for the first time in years.
***
The lingering sound of his voice echoed in her mind as she stepped out into the street. The three kobolds she left waiting for her in the streets all mobilized once they saw her. Citrine stretched with her hands above her head, Ruby cracked her neck, and Amethyst scratched her belly through the black tank top she wore.
“You look like you’ve been crying, is everything alright?” Ruby asked, in spite of her mind telling her not too.
“You know, for the first time in a long while, I am. Thank you for asking, dear.” She said softly, the façade falling back into place as if it never left. “Come ladies, we have work to do.”
When she started off, Citrine, Amethyst, and Ruby all exchanged glances.
“I’ll be a dipped in shit,” Ruby snickered, the other two smiled and nodded. “I wonder what happened.”
“Are you coming, or do I have to do this on my own.” Sapphire called back to them, spurring them into catching up.

Full: Yuuya | Yuuto | Yuugo | Yuuri
Here they are,,,,,,,,,,*half-hearted fanfare*
Theyve undergone a lot of changes in the past..........15 minutes but I think Im finally happy with them......in case youre wondering, yes, Yuuri IS in a skirt
(thanks to yall on discord for helping me finalize their designs)
Stuff below
They're all 510 years old and were born over the course of a single winter. The Bracelet girls were born the following summer.
Yuuya is Watermelon Tourmaline, a 7.5 fighter who's paired up with Shingo. He's known among the other gems as he jokester out of all of them. Rumor has it that he's managed to make even Sensei laugh......
Yuuto is Phantom Amethyst, a 7 fighter paired with Yuugo. The Goth One™. Shun was born shortly before him, and the two bonded during the years that they had to stay inside the school for education. Frequently has to visit Ruri when Yuugo breaks, so he's become good friends with her too. Reiji hates him bc he won't accept new socks from him and just keeps wearing the ripped ones
Yuugo is Bi-color Citrine (Technically blue Ametrine but shh), another 7 fighter paired with Yuuto. He's very reckless, chosing to beat the shit out of Lunarians with a bat instead of using, y'know, a blade of any kind. Breaks very often and is one of Ruri's best customers, beaten only by Juudai. He's infatuated with Rin and wanted to be her partner, but Sensei insisted that he work with Yuuto due to them both being Quartzes. Often drags Yuuto along on detours during their patrol so he can stop and see Rin while she's out with Selena.
Yuuri is Winza Sapphire, a 9 who used to be paired with Yuusei since they were both sapphires. Once Antinomy left for the moon, Yuuri slipped into a cozy position working in the library with Misawa while Yuusei was re-assigned to be Bruno's partner. Always wears gloves, no matter what. No exceptions.
Placido likes to throw his more 'experimental' weapons at these boys to test their efficiency since they're pretty good at fighting so he knows they'll get a good test run in their hands.

Spirit Keeping: Part 2 [Warning: Long]
Preface: I wrote this on mobile, so please forgive format errors. If it’s just terrible, please let me know! I will hop on my computer later and fix it, if need be! ~
Yesterday I posted about being connected with a new spiritual companion, courtesy of @magickalmenagerie. I’ve had class and 2 shifts at work since then, but I managed to squeeze in an hour for a mini-interview, to break the ice a little!
Here’s what I used to speak with him:
-Black Tourmaline Pendulum (protection from negativity; not from my new friend, just anything else that might be listening!)
- Spirit Board (Standard Yes/No/Maybe board. Also because it’s just. so. pretty.)
- Frankincense and Mhyrr Incense (Frankincense for purification and a boost to spirituality; Mhyrr because it has similar properties, and it also used for attraction.)
- White Tea Lights (signifies purity, peace, spiritual strength. White is also often used for meditation and divination)
-Amethyst (stability, boosts psychic ability) +
-Quartz (protection, energy booster) +
-Selenite (enhances energy, mental clarity, helps with spirit work) +
-Citrine (mental clarity, combats negative energy) +
——————————-
So, after my altar was prepped, our pendulum was programmed, and we were all settled in, we got down to business.
First, I properly introduced myself. We had sat with each other, feeling out our respective energies and how they meshed. It was a lot like an awkward first date, but in a good way. We were nervous, but excited. This time, however, we were going to communicate formally.
Once introductions were our of the way, I started with the easy stuff. Verifying the information that was on the slip I received, and the proper pronunciation of his name. When I asked if he liked it here so far, I received a slightly dramatic swing, an enthusiastic “Yes!”
I moved on, to some ground rules and courtesy questions. He asked that I don’t share his true name, so I countered with the idea of a nickname, and he was immediately receptive. I listed a few ideas, but none elicited any excitement.
After a bit, I felt something that I can only describe as a sort of ‘nudge’. Not quite physical, but not completely ethereal. Kind of a, “Hey, what’s the deal? I can tell you’re holding back.”
I sheepishly admitted that, after contacting Magical Menagerie, I had wondered if this might happen. But of all the names I had thought to ask, there was one I really liked. The pendulum began to swing again, he urged me on. I could almost hear him, “Say it! I already know!”, in a playful tone.
“Carbuncle?”
And holy shit guys. The pedulum gained momentum, and I swear I could feel him at that moment. He was right there, amused as hell that I was embarassed about it. So I went out on a limb ~ I asked him, once he was connected with me, if he had sensed it, or if he had reached out to me and I missed it. In return, the pendulum swung the classic “No answer/I’m not telling”. Typical sly fox, no?
The conversation continued naturally after that. We were comfortable, and I was enjoying myself so much! We even discussed how he might help me in my craft, and the possibility of making a protection jar for our home, since he’s very much a home and hearth spirit. But my hour of free time was nearing an end, so one of the last things I asked was if Carbuncle wanted to accompany me to work, since I had a spare necklace or two with no adornments lying around, but that was a “No.”
So, like the cheeky witch I am, I jokingly asked if that was because he would be there anyway… and he responded in kind, with some silly swing that could’ve been a yes, or even a maybe. Sly fox, indeed…
I get the impression that we’re going to be incredibly happy with each other’s company. :)
This is my first go at spirit keeping, so I was initially worried that I might not be able to connect well, or that I might commit some snafu, despite being excited as hell to adopt a new member into my family. Now, I’m confident that this was an amazing idea. I can’t wait to develop this bond even further. Carbuncle and I will be two peas in our snuggly, family pod!
Thanks for reading. Love and light to all of you!

+ [NOTE: I like to give credit where credit is due. I don’t normally involve crystals when I do divination, but I stumbled across @letthebroomfly's masterpost, titled “A Spirit-Workers Holy Grail, and decided to incorporate a few!]

Tools of Witchcraft
This is going to be a little more of an extensive list for a Witch's tools vs the 4 tools found in say Wicca, and these are only suggestions. Each Witch is different so each Witch may use certain tools over others. Again this is just a list of stuff to consider using in your practice. None of this is holy writ. Now as always, remember that the Witch is the magic and tools are not needed, but they do aid in focusing our Wills which is the source of all magical spells. Also the way to use some of these items is very extensive so I will not include them here too much. 1) Altar Some people put their altars on the floor. I prefer to sit on the floor with a low table in front of me. Some Witches just put down a cloth and set up their altars before each working. Again this list is only a suggestion of ideas for tools. You do not need them all. Ideas for altars- End tables Dresser tops Coffee table Shoe boxes Cinder blocks Large Stone tile Hope Chest Shelving 2) Altar cloths Let's face it, you're gonna spill wax or ash on your altar. To help protect the finish or your floors from wax, put down an altar cloth. I don't use anything fancy or expensive as I tend to ruin my cloths pretty fast. I'm clumsy. Ideas for altar cloths- Old sheets Blankets Bandanas Cloth by the yard Old clothes 3) Herbs Most Witches and Magicians use plant material in their spell work. Various herbs, spices, barks and roots have different harmonics or energy wavelengths that when combined with other items of similar energy and harmony, result in more powerful spells. Examples are loose incense, powders, teas, floor washes, ect. Common herbs found in a Witch's cabinet- Rosemary Cloves Lavender flowers Chamomile flowers Rose petals Cinnamon Frankincense Myrrh Salt Pepper Dragons blood Red pepper Sandalwood Juniper & Juniper berries Pine resin Cedar Ginger Copal Angelica root High John the Conqueror White sage Lemongrass 4) Minerals Along with herbs, stones, crystals and other things, minerals have energy which when combined with the Witch's Will and other harmonic items, add power to spell work. Common minerals found in a Witch's cabinet- Clear Quartz Citrine Amethyst Rose quartz Smoky quartz Moonstone Bloodstone Pyrite Selenite Golden Tiger's eye Blue Tiger's eye Red Tiger's eye Malachite Lapis Lazuli Lodestones Black Tourmaline 5) Candles Candles come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colors. All of which can benefit your magic. For example a red figure candle can bring you love, and a green one can help you persuade your boss to give you a promotion. Try to avoid scented candles as scent is also a correspondence and should only be added by the Witch to keep the energy in harmony. Some scented candles do work well within spellwork. Just know the scent and what it means before using that scented candle :) There is also the idea of sy thetic products vs natural products but that's another article. Types of candles found in a Witch's cabinet (various colors)- Tea Lights Chime Pillar 7 day jar candles Votives Skulls Figures 7 knob Reverse Double action 6) Witch's blade I like to have a special knife I use when I harvest plant material from the wild or I need to cut something in ritual. In some traditions, Witches state the handle must be a certain color. If you follow those religions then adhere to those rules. The knife can be used, as I said, to harvest plants, plant material, cut thread/string, carve candles, stir brews, making wands, and marking other tools by scratching in a runic monogram. Some Witches don't use their blade for anything but energy work. Others use their blades for practical things like preparing a magical meal. However the knife should never just be used because all your other knives are dirty. It should be witchcraft related. Mine has a bone handle and two blades that fold down. Knife ideas- Folding knives Daggers Short swords Steak knives Butter knives 7) Censor Most Witches make their own incense in loose or shaped form. Having a safe place to burn things is a must. This can also be used to burn spell paper. Censor ideas- Ceramic bowl Ash tray Large seashell Caldron Tower or shaped pre made incense holders are available everywhere. Metal gets hot so be careful if yours is a metal bowl like mine. Just make sure it's heatproof. Censors should be filled with ash, sand, or salt to absorb heat. 8) Mortar and pestle I don't just use mine for grinding herbs into incense and other small particles for whatever reason. I also use it to grind taglocks (personal concerns) into powders and other spell work. I have also ground up paper and sprinkled it into the wind. There are many uses. When looking for a mortar and pestle try to find one that is made of solid stone like granite or marble. It should have a rough inside cut to the mortar and an equally rough pestle. Also look for a heavy base so it won't slide around and a deep bowl to keep materials from popping out while pounding them. Avoid soapstone as its usually smooth cut and is really soft. It's very poor material for a pestle. They are also tearing up India to manufacture soapstone products. Don't buy soapstone period. 9) Noise maker The use of music in ritual is as old as civilization itself. I love to incorporate some sort of sound in my rituals. Ideas- Rattles Drums Bells Gongs String of beads rubbed together Tambourines Whistles Flutes Recorders CD or MP3 players 10) Jars and containers I don't know what it is with Witches and empty jars/containers but most if not all of us go ape shit for them. I use glass jars to hold my herbs, oils, and washes like 4 thieves vinegar. I prefer glass as its non porous and doesn't absorb smells. But boxes drive witches batty too. Jar ideas- Canning jars Corked jars Wine bottles Hot sauces Spice/herb jars Starbucks bottles Baby food containers Bouillon jars Vinegar bottles Salad Dressing jars Shoe boxes Carved wooden boxes Eye glass cases (think coffin) Chests Trunks Plastic storage containers Zip lock bags 11) Divination tools The arts of Divination are multiple and it's impossible to include them all here, but there are some common items you may wish to work with on your path. Divination tool ideas- Tarot decks Black Mirror/Mirrors Black Bowls Crystal Balls Pendulums Rune sets 12) Miscellaneous Other items that may be found in a Witch's cabinet- Animal parts (hair, feet, teeth, ect) Felt (various colors) Drawstring bags Needles Thread (various colors) Glue Tape Scissors Construction paper Parchment paper Offering bowls and plates Markers Colored pencils Lighters Matches Flash paper Chalice/cup Hourglass Pentacle plate (I know, why is a pentacle on the witchcrafting tool list? The truth is the pentacle while being associated with Wicca today actually originates back to the Greeks and the planet Venus. It's also come to represent the 5 elements which most Witches work heavily with. So it's OK to have a pentacle if you want to use it) Focal point of some sort (can be a statue of a personal animal guide such as a wolf or candles or even an offertory plate for spirits or Fae or whatever, even the pentacle). As always I am open to any questions, comments or constructive criticism you may have about the content covered in this post. Big shout out to those that helped me, Ben, Dusty Coyote, and Ebenezer. You guys rock.
