Theories about Koschei
1) the black onyx box is a wyrd key. Hidden inside Beron vanserra.
2). The swans are the actual queens. The ones who are now are pretending to be are relatives of theirs. Or made a deal with koschei to rule. Trapping the rightful queens. Remember Mor said they're all weak .
3). Koschei wants the archeron sisters dead. He possessed Cassian. Cassian was able to overcome because of the mating bond. He's going after Azriel. Putting thoughts in his head and whispering in his sleep. Elain knows this. She knows Azriel will kill her. Because they're not mates. He may also kill Lucien. Because of koschei.
4). Koschei is a valg or Asteri he can control the Illyrians. The creations of the the asteri.
3). Elain knows all this and is biding her time. To find weapons to defeat koschei. Like narbean. Which isn't evil. She's giving Azriel earplugs and headache medicine to prevent him from being possessed.
5) light singers are not evil. A rumor passed down because of koschei influences. Gwyn will be able to break koschei spells on people like the Illyrians.
6). The king of Hybern and Amarantha all of Hybern are with koschei and the asteri. The king was trying to bring back the asteri. Amarantha threw the sword into the sea. Because it wasevil or so she said. Msybe it can defeat koschei
7). Elain broke the darkness in the cauldron because of her kindness. It's been said she's very kind and pure.
8). Nesta took all the asteri power .They infused in the cauldron. plus a gift from the mother
9). Elain has been protecting her family and friends. This entire time. She knows Lucien could be killed by Azriel invoking the blood rite because of koschei.
10). Elain can properly yield truth teller. She gave it back because she didn't need anymore. She saw Bryce needed it for the asteri. She gave back the necklace so he could give it to his mate Gwyn.
11). Elain will kill koschei herself and maybe Beron. She brought kings to their knees. Hybern. I believe she will lock herself in a wall of iron or onyx. Trap koschei there. Draining him.
12). Once this is done. She will release the pockets of magic all throughout their world. What if Elain is a high queen. She makes all the high lords take a blood oath. Plus the leaders of hybern, rask etc. That's my crazy thought in this. Lucien becomes her king consort

Remember when Aelin ripped open a portal to a hell-realm to punish the gods?
Tumblr media
I have a feeling this is about to be extremely relevant. I know a lot of people are suggesting that the Asteri are the same as the Valg, and that may be true, but what if they're actually some (or all) of the gods from TOG? Gods that Aelin doomed to a "hell-realm"?
The princes of Hel in HOSAB already knew the Asteri and wanted to save others from them. Maybe they met when Aelin threw their worlds together?
Tumblr media
Maybe I'm wrong about why Aelin's actions are important, but I have a feeling the moment she traps the gods is going to play a role in the greater multiverse. HOFAS can't come fast enough.

I’ll never get over Kaltain basically “Nope-ing” her way out of a possession.
I like to think the Valg Prince waltzed in like he owned the place and Kaltain was like “Full disrespect, gtfo.”

🚨 Ok, I've got something to SAY about lightsingers!!! 🚨
I know the "are lightsingers evil?"... or even just an easter egg... debate has sent this fandom into a tizzy a few times over. We're not on the ship controversy (pun intended), we're on the SS Earnest & Nerdy Close Reader.
My fave part of my TOG/Complete SJMU reread has been zeroing in on two groups of women/females that have long since itched my brain - priestess and witches... I also yearn for a Manorian book after all these years and I have been waiting for their... "boat hangouts" since I started my TOG reread. IYKYK.
Imagine my surprise when this description of a half dead Manon - a witch, yes, but a half Blackbeak, half Cochran heir, and witch queen - paralleled the one fleeting description we get of Lightsingers from Cassian while he, Nesta, and Azriel hunt for the mask (gotta love Manon's beautiful face casually being referred to as a mask) in the Middle in ACOSF.
Both of these scenes warrant a longer close read with more screengrabs (but I'm tired and have a gnarly cold a I can't kick) because both essentially question what it means to be evil... this is an oversimplification, but whether evil is in your nature or if intent is the deciding factor. But here's the lowdown:
In the ACOSF scene, Cassian literally just described witches, "not the human kind," who live in the bog/Middle before describing Lightsingers. Wow, what a fun coincidence. And when Nesta asks why the Prythian powers that be let the Middle and its creatures live, Cassian basically says that it's not right, or their call, to punish something for doing what it was born to do... unlike the inhabitants of the Prison who earned their spot there and needed to be removed from society and have their considerable powers leashed.
In the EoS scene, Dorian asks Manon (after she makes it clear he looks tasty af) if witches are partially human, to which she replies, "Not in the ways that count." Ok, ominous. Then Dorian remembers that witches have human, Fae, and Valg parts, but that "Valg blood had shaped the witches." But when Dorian asks Manon if she feels more human or Valg, Manon immediately responds saying that both the Valg, and Erawan, are her enemies. Nuance!
Things I think are interesting? Many have brilliantly speculated about Nesta's potential witchiness and her being smack dab in the middle of this big parallel is both very fun and, I suppose, unsurprising. The Dread Trove Mask and the allusion to Manon's beauty being a mask has me 👀 Also for all this talk of "oh no a Lightsinger will lure you and control you against your will..." might some of that lore been wrapped up in what it is the mask can essentially do? Granted it can only raise/control the dead, but that would qualify as "horror" to me. I think Prythian, Midgard, and Erilea are victims of the worst game of telephone ever.
Big picture? Every time a character says "oh yeah, we were taught x was evil," pretty consistently we're learning that was some big ol' Asteri (or whatever they're calling themselves on that planet) propaganda. And Cassian being taught that Lightsingers are evil when, by this reading, they could be very important witches? Well, that would make a lot of sense for someone raised by Illyrians who infamously hate witches (and women). Cassian is, of course, our sweet evolved himbo, but he might not know some myths he's always believed were fake news.
Anyway, this deserves a nice, long investigation, but my brain is already succumbing to NyQuil and my IQ is dropping by the second.
I leave you with this moving quote from Manon #growth

Every time I post a new HOSAB/Maasverse theory, I get asked one question: Is Amren an Asteri?
Looking at the books, SJM has given herself enough latitude that, should she want, she can make Amren an Asteri. But I hope she doesn’t.
I think that truly great villains need to be specific to their stories to truly work. It’s why Amarantha works so well in ACOTAR: she’s a mirror for Feyre in nearly every way, unloved by the person who loves Feyre, strong where Feyre is weak, and, relying on that strength over everything else, she is therefore unable to see Feyre’s strength is the fact that she is both lovable and full of the desperation that comes from having nothing to lose. It’s why the Valg work so well in Throne of Glass: their cool remoteness are a perfect contrast to Aelin Fireheart. It’s why Maeve is so great, too: I love seeing her go against Aelin, and watching her power fall bit by bit, as everyone in her orbit realizes that Aelin, Queen of Terrasen and the rightful Faerie Queen of the West, truly offers a better world. And it’s why the Asteri work so well in Crescent City: not only are they an interesting foil to Bryce (who is enmeshed in their world of bread and circuses, and who, like them, shares a love of a scheme -- but who, in contrast to their research and calculations, is impetuous and daring in a way that they cannot fully account for) but they have an expansive reach that mirrors the scope of Midgard, with its multitude of species.
Incidentally, this is why, to me, the King of Hybern is not an effective villain: he’s not specific to the world of ACOTAR, just a generic evil king with a lot of power. (I have a theory that he was originally based on Donald Trump, but in the end that is not a good basis for a charismatic villain in the final battle, no matter how much evil has come out of that real-world scenario, so SJM decided to shift course and wound up with a generic powerful villain. But I digress.)
I think that if Amren were an Asteri, it would make the Asteri really generic, an overall, world-crossing evil with no specificity. What do the Asteri have to say about the world or characters of ACOTAR, or the world and characters of Throne of Glass?
What does it contribute to the story if Amren is an Asteri? While I suppose there’s the message that even villains can be redeemed, we see that all over ACOTAR, with a lot of potential for more redemption stories from characters like Eris or Tamlin.
I would be much more interested in learning about the connection between Fury and Amren, and why each of them has wound up in their specific worlds. We know from chapter 72 of ACOWAR that Amren’s Father specifically opened a portal for her into the ACOTAR world... did this same being open one for Fury into Midgard?
Part of my desire behind having Amren (and Fury, by extension) be distinct from the Asteri is the fact that having a multiverse means many different worlds, species, and villains. If it all boils down to the Asteri, why go to any other worlds at all? After all, the Asteri are already in Midgard.
So while it’s definitely possible that Amren is an Asteri, I’m hoping it doesn’t happen. Because I want these series to continue to have their specific villains, and, at the end of the day, I want the multiverse to be bigger than the Asteri.

Sorscha and Jesminda both beheaded by their lovers fathers.
Dorian and Lucien both bound. One by a collar and one by a mask.
Chaol and Tamlin both feel in love with fierce women. Than left by them. Also the most hated characters in their series.
Manon and Elain both run away from romantic love. Fae Elain not human. Does this mean Elain has Blueblood witch ancestry.
Chaol went on healing journey. What if Tamlin is cursed from everything. So he falls in love with a healer from dawn court.
Lucien and Elain are very similar to Manon and Dorian.
Hear me out. Dorian is besties with his friends ex. Lucien was besties with his friends ex.
Sjm has said both Dorian and Lucien would get along.
Both are considered rakes.
Than they both have feelings for a guarded iron walled female. Remember elain's mind is filled with unbloomed flowers and an iron gate. Manon iron teeth witch.
Abraxos loves flowers. We don't know the abuse Elain suffered from her grandma or mom . We only know Nesta and Feyre.
Nesta similar to asterin. Both abused by their grandma.
Both Dorian and Lucien told if I offered you the moon on a string.
The sad part is Elain could find friends like the thirteen. Though not warriors. They end up dying or the twins.
This is a crack theory. Though if you think really hard
I want to say Elain isn't a warrior type like Manon. Though she's similar in love matters. Not sex there's a difference. Both characters avoid feelings.
Dorian and Lucien both feel and love. Through the trauma from their fathers. Also what if Beron is under koschei's spell and has been for a while.
I hate Beron. I hated Dorian's dad too. He surprised me in the end.
The similarities between the characters. Albeit seem small. They exist. Asterin and her hunter. Similar to Cassian and Nesta. People say Manon is like Nesta. Nesta is similar to asterin. Grandma archeron would have beaten Nesta if she was pregnant with an unworthy man's baby. Also Nesta would never punish her sisters physically.
