wwx pointed out lwj’s smile and in response lwj grabbed for his sword and shot up. and what does wwx? he too shots up and hastily brings distance between them, so lwj cant do anything to him.

HE TRULY THOUGHT LWJ WOULD FIGHT HIM OVER THIS. lwj probably just wanted to go up and leave, BUT WWX THOUGHT HE WOULD FIGHT HIM TO DEATH.

I love how so much of wangxian's relationship during the gusu study arc was wei wuxian going "look at me, look at me! look at me, lan zhan!" and lan wangji angrily pretending not to look, and then post-resurrection wei wuxian tries the same thing but this time lan wangji is like "I am Looking and I will not look away" and wei wuxian is so flustered that he accidentally gets dragged back to gusu anyway.

like, throughout the story people only interact with wei wuxian on a superficial level, with no one bothering to go deeper. he's just an arrogant jiang disciple. he's just a rebellious teen. he's just an admittedly terrifying demonic cultivator. he's just an evil person who needs to be stopped. and lan wangji sees all of this, (and in the beginning is almost fooled by it!) and then is the only one who cares enough to look long enough and see the true wei wuxian.

when wei wuxian is resurrected, he immediately relies on the fact that people only view him superficially to keep his real identity hidden. he slides right into mo xuanyu's cut-sleeve lunatic persona and probably could have gotten away with it except he runs right into the one person who has Seen him in the past and Sees him now.

Translation:

To submit

Wei Ying, are you well today? Young Master Zixuan of the Jin clan and Lady Jiang have been blessed to have a son, who is about to reach a hundred days. The Jin clan will hold a banquet in Jinlintai (Koi Tower). A lot of relatives and friends will come to celebrate. According to the ritual, Ying should attend.

The lovely thing here is that, lwj started the letter with, “are you well today?” showing his concern to wwx in the most formal way, telling him ‘I’m here, I’m still by your side. Are you okay? 🥺’ He even dropped wwx’s surname and directly called him ‘Ying’ 😭 If this was wwx, he would 100% call lwj ‘Zhanzhan’ or ‘A-Zhan’ 😭

AU where Lan Wangji picked up Wei Wuxian's ribbon as well as A Yuan when he came to the Burial Mounds after the siege. He washes it and takes really gentle care of it until Lan Sizhui is old enough to get a forehead ribbon and he gives him Wei Wuxian's old ribbon instead of the usual one and tells him that it's from his mother.

The other Lans are very confused when Lan Sizhui shows up to class wearing a red forehead ribbon, but accept it once Sizhui tells them its his only keepsake from his mother. Lan Qiren splutters and goes purple at the sight of him that day, but he never hears anything else from his Great Uncle about the ribbon.

Lan Sizhui wears it and has to explain why its red about a billion times until he stumbles upon Mo Manor where Mo Xuanyu starts mumbling about him wearing his old ribbon.

Wei Wuxian works out that Lan Sizhui is A Yuan a lot sooner and there is a very tearful reunion.
