After a couple of drinks and conversations with the agents, it was time for the costume presentation. Everyone went up one by one, everyone else casting votes for the best dressed. Clapping and cheering echoed around the room as Tony walked up to the stage. "Welcome to the best Halloween party you will ever attend in your life." He started with. I rolled my eyes, knowing he would say something so cocky.
"I want to start by thanking everyone for being here, I've seen some amazing costumes and I've had some great conversations tonight. But it is now time to announce the winners of the Costume Competition. The winner for the best couples outfit goes to… Y/n and Bucky Barnes for their Joker and Harley quinn outfit"
Clapping erupted from the audience of where Bucky and I were standing, as we made our way up to the platform to collect the gift basket, full of Candy and Cute decorations and accessories that no doubt Pepper put together.
Tony continued his speech as Buck and I exited off the stage. "The winner for the best Group outfit goes to… Thor, Valkyrie, Steve, Sam and Jane for their Men In Black outfit." Tony continued, "And the Winner for the best outfit overall, goes to… Yelena Belova, for the Regina George outfit.
I must say, I've seen some very creative outfits by far. Thank you everybody for coming out tonight, Enjoy the rest of your evening"
As the presentation ended and everybody went back to their pool games and drinks at the bar, Bucky walked up to me from where he was at the front, chatting with Steve.

"You think she's asleep?" Matt asks.
They're finally home. After a long day of pure, beautiful chaos at the hospital in what was probably the most physically challenging thing his wife had ever had to experience, Sylvie and Matt had finally met their beautiful daughter for the first time. And yes, babies are covered in gross fluids and come out screaming and crying, but to Matt, she was the most beautiful thing in the world. (She looked so much like her mother from the moment he saw her, which probably helped.) It's been one hell of a ride getting her into this world but now that she is, everything feels worth it. Those big, glimmering eyes, the tiny hands, the way Sylvie's holding her close. It's everything Matt's ever wanted.
They're sitting on the couch now, Sylvie tucked in his side as she cradles their daughter in his arms. "Yeah, I think she is," she replies in a whisper.
"Do you want to put her in the crib?"
"No."
"Why not?" He asks with curiosity rather than judgment, his brows furrowing.
"I... I can't put her down," she admits with tears in her eyes.
Matt instinctively rubs circles on her arm with the arm that's slung over her shoulders, pulling his wife close. "Hey, talk to me."
"I can't explain it," she starts. "I just... oh god, I love this little girl so much and we haven't even named her yet. How is that possible? And I'm scared that if I put her down, I'm going to blink and miss it all. I know that sounds silly but I can't let her go just yet."
"It's not silly at all," he assures her softly. "It's human. We're parents now. A family. Worrying comes with the job description."
"We are a family," she echoes back to him as if realizing it for the first time. "Aren't we?"
"We are," he nods with a grin, leaning his forehead against hers. "You, me, and... I guess we should name her at one point, shouldn't we?"
Sylvie lets out a soft giggle as her tears dissipate, containing it so as not to wake their daughter up. "Yeah, we should." Sylvie looks down at their daughter, sound asleep in her arms. The newborn has two hairs at best, with peaceful, closed eyes and the roundest cheeks Matt's ever seen. They're sickeningly adorable.
"Ugh, she has the cutest little cheeks ever," he points out in quiet awe. "She looks like a little chipmunk. How can she be this cute? Any name would suit her at this point, that's how adorable she is."
"We could name her after Alvin and the Chipmunks," Sylvie suggests teasingly.
"Those are all boys," Matt points out with an amused shake of his head.
"No, they have girl chipmunks too," she corrects him. "There's Brittany-- which is a hard pass by the way, there was a girl in high school named Brittany who stole my homework for the entire semester the week before the exam. Then there's Jeanette--"
"Absolutely not," Matt interjects. "That's Capp's mom's name."
"Oh God, ok definitely not," Sylvie agrees. "Then there's Eleanor, the little green girl with the chubby cheeks."
They look at each other for a moment, then back at their daughter. She's got the round cheeks and the eyes that are blue but that look green when the light hits them right, sort of like the ocean in the summer. And dammit, it just... fits. Something clicks in their gaze and what started as a joke has now lead them to find the name for their daughter.
Sylvie looks down at the baby and presses a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Welcome to the world, Eleanor Casey," she whispers ever so quietly. "I'm your mom, yeah! And there's your Dad, right next to me. He's the best Dad you could ever ask for, you're going to love him even more than I do if that's possible. And we both love you so much already."
Matt smiles-- can't stop smiling, actually, and has been doing so for the past few hours-- and chips in quietly. "She's right. We're going to spoil you to death. You're our whole world, little Ellie. Our whole world."
And after that, Matt completely understands why Sylvie doesn't want to put her in the crib yet. He wants to hold onto this moment forever and maybe, if they keep her there in Sylvie's arms, he can.

And now a 23-year-old grown woman digs WAY too deep into Muppet Babies (2018) lore
So truth be told even before Gonzo-rella got everyone jumping on the Muppet Babies train, I did watch the show on and off on my Disney + since the original 80's cartoon was one of the many retro shows my baby hipster trash self watched VHS rips on YouTube (along with Alvin and the Chipmunks), and I liked it thought it was a good comfort show despite being nowhere near its target audience. Even reconnected with my childhood in finding the Gonzo plush I had as a kid, but lost a decade ago on eBay...and before that my sister gave me a going-away gift in the form of a different Gonzo plushie but bigger and even older than the little beanbag one I had/have.
Anyway, the point is that while Gonzo being non-binary or at the very least GNC is something we welcomed and embraced, and to this day me pointing out that he also did the same in the 80's version is currently my second most popular Tumblr post, very few people have watched the show enough to dig into some of more obscure lore this show for preschoolers lowkey has. Spoilers expect the same energy as the Eddache and ILoveKimPossibleALot video on Goofy and Max. Mainly in that my conclusion is that: Gonzo is adopted
Exhibit A in Season 1 Episode E14B "Grandpa Camp" the main plot concerns the nursery school (for lack of a better word) preparing for a Grandparents' Day and the beginning of the segment has the kids drawing pictures of their grandparents and for the most part they're the same species as them, with the exception of Gonzo who draws himself over a picture of two humans
Sure this behind-the-scenes this is a stock photo they just drew over, although we don't know if that's the case in-universe so for all we know he could have done so because he doesn't know how to draw humans. Either way, why is it he apparently has grandparents of a different species than him?
Disclaimer: Statler and Waldorf were Fozzie's substitute grandparents in the episode for context
Exhibit B, several episodes later in Season 1 Episode 18B "Planet Gonzo" concerns Gonzo and the other kids supposedly discovering a planet of other Gonzos, similar to Muppets From Space although obviously, the main difference is that it's very clearly imaginary from the get-go. This episode seems to imply Gonzo has not met his own kind before hence why him being an alien isn't a stretch for him (side note: is it me or are both (possibly unintentional) autism coding since the "different planet" is a common metaphor for explaining autism to children such as the Arthur episode about the subject?... I'm just saying all the way back in the first episode of the reboot there's a moment where Gonzo lowkey infodumped about chickens)
Exhibit C, slightly related to the previous point, but it's implied to be the case in the 80's version too. Mostly with the Superman parody in Season 3 Episode 7 "Fozzie's Family Tree", which while much like the aforementioned Planet Gonzo it's obviously a fantasy similarly implies that Gonzo hasn't met other his own kind (although I somewhat doubt that he was literally raised by chickens as per that fantasy sequence). Even if you ignore the weird fact that in the original series they all lived in the nursery; albeit there are certain episodes that indicate that the characters have family such as Robin being the son of Kermit's older sister.
Of course, this isn't a perfect theory considering how this is the Muppets which has at best very inconsistent continuity such as the Muppet Kids books (which is a series of very obscure spin-off books) where Gonzo is raised by his extended family which is unambiguously the same species, although appearances of Gonzo's family are very rare and often obscure such as the appearance of his cousin Kevin in An Audience with Joe Pasquale (which I could find a screenshot of, but not any clips online). And of course, there's Muppets From Space, but it was later declared non-canon after the fact. Although I always go back to the Dave Golez quote
"Nobody knows except his parents, and they're not talking. It was always one of those taboo subjects around the dinner table."

since notice how Gonzo's parents have been alluded to several times, even including the ABC Muppets series Gonzo even mentions still being in contact with his mother as a running gag in the episode "Hostile Makeover"...and yet they've never been on-screen aside from the fantasy sequence from Muppet Babies '84? Plus we know interspecies adoption is already a canonical reality in the Muppet Babies universe since Season 3 introduced Rozzie who's a marsupial from Australia being raised by a family by ursine.
...if nothing else Gonzo being raised by human parents both lowkey makes sense and is also pretty funny to me.

Tech Whiz ~ Matt Devlin - Part 1.
Hey guys, so I recently watched all the episodes of Law and Order: UK that Matt was in and came up with this idea for a story.

Pairing: Matt Devlin X OC.
Summary: Saylor Clarke gets a new job working on the tech aspects of solving the crimes that Ronnie and Matt investigate. She swears to herself that she will not get into any office romances but the more time she spends with Matt the harder it gets not to fall for him. Someone on the sidelines however are always watching their every interacting, when things go to the next level Saylors mystery admirer will make themselves known in the worst way possible.

As it is for anyone, the first day of walking into a new workplace was a nerve wracking experience. It was only made more daunting as Saylor took in all the bodies dressed in various formal suits and ties, pencil skirts and blazers.
Of course, Saylor was also dressed presentably, but the big difference between her and her new colleagues was the dip dyed shoulder length emerald hair she sported, the numerous piercings in her ears - which were mainly covered by her hair - and a small green ring through her nostril.
She was grateful her sleeve tattoo in progress was covered under her blazer or she would have felt even more uneasy than she already did. Her only body art on show was five thin lines encircling four of her fingers. They were dainty and usually most people didn’t even notice them unless they were in close proximity to her. Even so, she loosely clasped her hands into fists in case anyone decided to peer too closely.
Still, alternative styles evidently were not a popular sight in the The Crown office, because as Saylor walked down the aisles of cubicles, eyes zoned in on her. She tried to remind herself that this was not the first time she’d faced stares over her appearance and that it no way detracted from her professionalism or ability to do her job. That’s all that mattered, and she would remind them all of that in due course.
Arriving at a standard looking office that overlooked the city, she met DI Natalie Chandler who went over all the necessary debriefing and documentation with her. The woman’s kind nature lifted some of the nerves rattling through her and she hoped she would get to work with Ms Chandler in the future.
Natalie then led her over to the middle of the bustling office to a set of desks where two men had their backs to her.
“Guys! This is our new tech master, Saylor Clarke.”
Both of them swung around in their chairs, the older gentleman who sat to the right and she shared a warm smile with him, but what caught Saylor’s was the young man on the left. “I’d like you to meet DS Ronnie Brooks and DS Matthew Devlin.” She smiled, meeting both their gazes in greeting.
“She’ll be taking over from Angela from today.” Before Natalie walked away she gave both of them a pointed stare. “Be nice! Look after her.”
“We’re always nice!” Matt called after her playfully then turned on Saylor and she forgot her own name for a breath. “Hey, Mathew Devlin but you can call me Matt.” He held out his hand for her to shake. Worried her hand would be sweaty due to the first day nerves and her body’s response to meeting someone as striking as Matt before, Saylor hesitated, but suddenly she realised how rude that would look and slipped her hand into his. It enveloped hers and she hoped he didn’t hear the way her breathing jittered at the contact and noticed the electricity that skated up her skin leaving goosebumps in its wake, and she truly hoped he didn’t feel the slight moist covering on her hand. If he clocked onto anything at all, he never let it show as he gave her a friendly grin and returned to his desk.
With ocean eyes that shamed the carribean shores, sunkissed skin that enhanced every muscular valley in his bare forearms and bone structure that rivaled the godly marbled statues she’d seen at the A&E, it was fair to say Matt might have been the most mesmerizing man she’d ever laid her eyes upon.
One word came to her mind. Shit.
How was she going to stop herself from crushing on Mr Devlin?
“Ronnie Brooks,” The older man stated, waving a hand. “don’t worry you’ll settle in right away. If you need anything though don’t be afraid to ask us. Me and Matty will be happy to help.” They both offered her bright and reassuring smiles and she felt instantly welcome in their company.
“Thank you, guys. It’s nice to meet you both. I guess I better go log into my computer, and get it all set up.” Ronnie pointed out her desk which was a little way across the room from theirs, she thanked him and made her way over, cursing herself on the way for being so awkward.
Her first day seemed to flash by, and before she knew it, it was dark outside and people started leaving the office in drips and drabs. Nothing too exciting had happened through the duration of the day. It wasn’t as though she had expected to be thrown straight into the middle of the chaos on day one, but admittedly, lack of productivity had her itching in her seat.
However, her day was pleasant nonetheless; she had managed to set up her computer almost exactly the way she liked it, she’d gone and spoke to some of her other new colleagues around the office to get to know who she would be working with and had been pleasantly surprised at the warmth she was met with. She shouldn’t have assumed they would judge her based on her looks, she needed to squash that insecurity.
But mostly, she had chatted with Matt and Ronnie. Apparently, not much was happening in the way of cases, so they had time to tell her about some of their most interesting cases and how tech had helped them catch their criminal in the end. She looked forward to being able to be a part of that team and process in the future.
Both men were incredibly charming and sweet. She counted herself lucky that she’d been put in an office with such lovely company. Ronnie was instantly like a father figure to her, he seemed gentle and caring and she was in no doubt that he’d be the first to her aid if she needed it. Matt on the other hand spoke to her in a more flirtatious manner, which of course she could never honestly say she minded. It was actually an honour to have such a beautiful man trade playful banter with her, but she had to remind herself that this was her work place now and no matter how she may want to, nothing past friendship was to be permitted between the two of them.
There was only one person she met in that office that first day that made her uncomfortable; Mike had walked up to her desk, and she could tell right off the bat that this man was typically shy. Knowing this feeling all too well she greeted him warmly, but as soon as he started speaking she got an unsettling feeling from the interaction. She couldn’t, however, put her finger on what exactly it was that was making her so uneasy about the man who had only said one word to her.
After the single interaction though, she didn’t see him for the rest of the day so she brushed it off and buried herself in customising her systems to her personal preference.
At the end of the day, she was at her desk switching everything off when she felt someone approach her from behind. She sent a silent prayer that whoever it was, it wasn’t Mike. Regardless, of the lack of action she’d seen through the day, she still felt drained from all the information she’d had to retain and had no energy left to try to understand him.
“How are you getting home?”
Turning, a jolt of excitement spiked through her fatigue when she saw Matt standing a few feet from her wrapping his scarf around his neck. “Not to sound creepy or anything, I just thought It would be decent of me to offer you a lift seen as it’s pitch black outside and you said earlier that you live on the other side of London.”
She smiled not only at how genuinely adorable this man was with his slight pout, but also at the fact he remembered when she’d idly said where she lived. Then she quickly reminded herself not to overthink his basic capacity to listen to information. She couldn’t let her head run amok. “Thank you Matt, that’s really nice that you thought of me. But I have my bike.”
“Bike? As in a peddle bike? I mean I could probably fit it in the back of my car. London traffic in the dark isn’t the nicest to people on bikes.”
“Erm, no, my motorbike.” Matt looked taken aback at this. Saylor simply laughed at his surprised expression.
They both started for the door. “Okay this I have to see!” She looked at him confused but she couldn’t hide the amusement on her face. “Oh no I didn’t mean you riding a motorbike I meant the actual bike.”
“Sure! You can come meet Alvin.”
Matt stopped in his tracks in the middle of the foyer, Saylor stopping a step in front of him, eyebrows raised. “What?”
“You named your bike after a chipmunk?”
She burst out laughing at the remark, envisioning the small rodent in question. “No.” she shook her head. “I named my bike after the Glam Rock star Alvin Stardust, a childhood favourite.” Sniggering to herself as she walked out of the revolving doors.
Matt was close on her heels as she walked to where her bike was parked on the side of the street. Stopping in front of it, she reached inside of her jacket to grab the key for the little storage box on the back of the bike.
“Matt meet Alvin, Alvin meet Matt.”
“Wow, such a beautiful bike.” Matt slowly walked around observing every detail of the vehicle.
“Thanks. I try to keep him in tip top shape.” Matt paused again looking over the bike to Saylor who had finally freed her helmet from the box.
“You do maintenance on the bike yourself?”
She looked up to find Matt staring at her in something akin to awe. “Yeah, I won't let anyone else touch him.”
She got up on the bike and started up the engine. Itroared to life.
Putting on the helmet, she turned to Matt one last time. “If you’re lucky one day I might let you ride him, I’ll see you tomorrow.” She winked at him, closed the visor and as Matt walked back to the pavement, he watched as she safely pulled out and sped off.
The last look on his face said it all; maybe she wasn’t the only one that was going to struggle toeing the line between friendship and something more.

The next morning was uneventful, but Saylor didn’t mind too much. It gave her additional time to settle in and socialise some more. Which included Matt.
When she got home the previous night she couldn’t shake the smile from her face. Her interactions with him the previous day had left her feeling like a campfire had ignited in her stomach and set a flock of butterflies into a frenzy above.
“Hey, a few of us are heading out for something to eat tonight if you would care to join us?” She turned in her chair to find Matt and Ronnie stood behind her with hopeful smiles on their faces.
“Sure, why not.” She leaned back in her chair and grinned at them both.
“I hope I’m invited too.”
As if out of nowhere, Mike appeared beside Saylor, that uneasy feeling came back to her. She shifted in her chair then glanced at Matt who seemed to sense her unease. He moved to perch himself on the corner of Saylor’s desk, putting himself between them. She looked up at him and gave him a silent ‘Thank you!’
“Sure. Everyone's invited.” Ronnie chimed in.
Saylor and Matt both snapped their heads to Ronnie. Obviously, he hadn’t read the room, but it was too late. Mike said he would meet them at the pizza place later and had walked off.
Unable to pinpoint exactly what it was about Mike that gave her the creeps, she felt a little bad, but every time he was near her, the hair on the back of her neck would stand up and she had the greatest desire to be as far away from him as possible.
“Jeez, Ronnie, why’d you invite him? Can’t you see that he makes Saylor uncomfortable?”
Ronnie looked at Saylor, confused.
“Does he make you uncomfortable? I can go over and uninvite him?” Ronnie started walking to Mike's desk but Saylor reached out an arm and stopped him.
“No, no. It’s okay. I’m probably just overreacting, he’s probably a really nice person, I have to give him a chance. Besides this is only my second day, he barely said two words to me. Can’t be making enemies straightaway, can I?” She smiled at them both, trying to be as lighthearted as she could. Ronnie said a simple okay as he walked back to his desk.
“Did you bring the bike today?” Matt said still perched on her desk, she swung back round to face her computer.
“I got a cab today actually, I never ride when it’s raining.” She chuckled to herself. “One of my mum's rules, actually. I understand though. Plus, I’d rather not turn up to work drenched.”
“So, you’ll be getting a cab home?”
She just nodded as she typed away on the keypad. If someone would have asked her what she was working on she wouldn’t have been able to answer. It was hard to concentrate when she had such a handsome man distracting her.
“Or I could give you a lift after the pizza place, I mean I’m the designated driver so....”
She stopped typing and looked up, catching his eye. “Sure, I guess it saves me some money. Unless you want gas money which I will happily provide.”
“Don’t worry about it. Just buy me a coke at the pub.” He snapped his finger and pointed at her with a wide grin.
“You got it.” She tilted her head as she looked at him, matching his grin.
“Great, I guess I’ll meet you back here when it’s time to leave.” Nodding again, she watched as he got up from the desk and walked away with the biggest smile on his lips.
Sighing, she knew she’d spend the rest of the day trying not to overanalyse said smile and tame the butterflies wreaking havoc inside her.
By the end of her second morning she’d already made some amazing friends. She just hoped that it would stay like that, that she wouldn’t ruin this job for herself like she did the last one.
No way would she let that happen again.
Time ticked by ever so slowly. Every time she looked at the clock, only mere minutes had passed. Now and then, she’d peer over to Matt’s desk. Most of the time he’d have his back to her, but sometimes he’d be talking to Ronnie and would catch her eye, a dazzling smile appearing on his face.
She didn’t have the adequate vocabulary to describe how adorable Matt Devlin truly was.
After her lunch, she’d been given some work to do which she became immersed in, completely forgetting about the time and what was happening around her. She only became aware of her surroundings again when Ronnie placed a warm hand on her shoulder.
“You ready?”
She looked up to him smiling down at her, she saved her work and switched off the computer. “More than ready.” Grabbing her bag and jacket, she met Ronnie by the door.
“Matt just had to go drop off some paperwork, he said he’d meet us by the car.” Nodding, she followed Ronnie out to the back parking lot.
Less than a minute later, Matt came strolling over to them smiling, swinging his keys around his finger.
Ronnie let Saylor ride shotgun, even though she insisted she would be fine in the back seat. “It’s the most gentlemanly thing to do.” He smiled as he got into the back. She looked at Matt over the roof of the car rolling her eyes but got in the font anyway.
When they reached the little pizza place, they found a booth near the back and settled in. Once Matt had taken his coat and scarf off, he got the drink orders and went to the bar.
Ronnie and Saylor were having a full blown conversation when the bell above the door chimed, indicating that someone had entered the restaurant.
Both looking up at the noise, they could see four people entering and looking around. Saylor only recognised one of the people. Mike.
“Oh god.”
She shook her head and looked to Ronnie.
“What is it?” She enquired.
“That women behind Mike, she’s from the evidence team. Completely obsessed with Matt, finds any excuse to come up to the office to see him.” He sniggered, evidently amused.
“Honestly, can’t say I blame her.” Saylor laughed at the surprise on Ronnie’s face.
“I’ll remember that remark!” He jokingly threatened her, but before Saylor could reply, the group had reached their table, and the women who Ronnie had pointed out sat down next to Saylor.
“I’ll go help Matt with the drinks now we have more people.” Ronnie got up and headed to where Matt still stood at the bar.
Saylor just stared after him in complete disbelief that he had left her with a bunch of strangers.
Not even a second after Ronnie had left his seat, Mike slid in the booth next to her. She tried her damn hardest not to shift away from him when he shuffled in closer to her.
Finally, the two men came back from the bar, hands full of drinks and distributed them out to everyone. She caught Matt's eye when he handed her, her drink then his eyes shifted to both sides of her. His eyes showed concern but he mouthed a ‘sorry’ to her. Replying with a gentle smile, she let him know she was okay. For now.
“Hey, I don’t think I’ve seen you around before. My name is Alice! and this is Chase, we work in the evidence lab.” Alice held out her hand which Saylor shook, then proceeded to shake Chase’s hand as well, of which he held onto her hand a second longer but then just smiled at her and sat back into the booth.
“Saylor, I’m the new tech wiz in the office.” She changed her attention back to Alice who was now sizing her up.
“Oh, lucky you. You get to be in the office all the time and be around Matt.” Saylor looked to Matt who was conversing with Ronnie and tried to think innocent and professional thoughts.
“He’s an amazing person. I mean I’ve only known him for two days and he’s been nothing but kind to me.”
“He’s more than amazing. Have you seen him? He’s so yummy. If only he could see how amazing I am, I’d take him straight home and do nasty things with him.” Saylor was taken aback by the way Alice was talking about one of her coworkers.
All she could do was laugh uncomfortably and turn away hoping to end the conversation but she forgot that the person on the other side of her was Mike. She was trapped.
“Don’t take no notice of her, she has no filter and has been completely obsessed over Matt for years.” Chase reached over and moved Alice out of his way so he could sit next to Saylor. “I’ve heard way worse come from her mouth about that man.” Saylor gave the man a ‘oh god’ look but smiled at him anyway, glad that finally she was sitting next to someone she could converse with normally.
The rest of the meal was relatively normal. Although she missed the time with Ronnie and Matt, she found that Chase was also someone she could see herself calling a friend in the future. He’d also saved her when Mike shifted unbearably close to her so again, but then Chase switched seats meaning she was back next to Alice, and she’d take that over sitting next to Mike any day.
When they were getting ready to leave, Chase also offered her a lift home but she had to decline, looking up to see Matt waiting for her by the door, his sparkling eyes dancing in the candlelight. “Thank you, that’s really kind, but Matt already promised me a lift home. Thank you for saving me tonight, twice!” She laughed.
“No problem. Anytime.” Then he did something unexpected. He grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it. She didn’t know how to react so she just smiled and waved her goodbyes.
“You ready?” Matt smiled at her, opening the door.
“Yes.” She walked out into the rain, Ronnie trailing behind her and the three made their way to the car parked just outside.
They dropped Ronnie off first and bid their goodnights to him, and then for the first time that night, it was just the two of them.
Saylor gave him the directions to her flat before any conversations started.
“Seems you have many admirers already!”
Saylor chuckled and turned to look at Matt, the streetlights highlighting his sharp features as they drove. “That's funny because I hear you have admirers too!”
“Urg, if you’re talking about Alice, I don’t want to hear about it. She’s a nice person and I respect her but agreeing to go on a date with her was one of the worst decisions I've ever made.” He glanced at Saylor in the passenger seat to see her beaming at him.
“You went on a date with her? I bet that was eventful!.”
“Oh! it was, but I’m not going to give you the satisfaction of hearing about it.” Saylor huffed out a ‘spoil sport’ and went back to facing the front of the car.
“Did you enjoy tonight?”
“I did, everyone’s so nice. Shame I didn’t get to speak to you and Ronnie much. I was kind of trapped between Alice and Mike, who, for some reason I can’t put my finger on why, but he gives me the creeps.” She shivered in her seat.
“Yeah, I could see how uncomfortable you were with him earlier.”
“Luckily Chase was there to put a barrier between us.” She didn’t look but she could tell he was glancing at her.
“Ah Chase! think he has a thing for you.” They both looked at each other when Saylor laughed out loud.
“Yeah well nothing will come of it. For one, he’s a nice guy, but I don’t feel any attraction towards him. And secondly, I promised myself long ago not to date coworkers.” Matt's face fell, and for a moment she thought she saw disappointment in his eyes, but it was only a flash.
She couldn’t say anymore though as he pulled up to her apartment.
Looking up at her door, she sighed. She’d told Matt that about coworker relationships, but every time they were close, all she wanted to do was be in his arms and just feel his arms wrapped around her.
She opened the door but turned back to Matt. “Thank you for being so kind to me in my first few days and for dropping me off home.”
He smiled in reply and she wondered if she’d ever get tired of that smile. She doubted it.
Without time to think it through, she reached over the centre console and kissed him on the cheek. Once she realised what she had done, she moved back a bit to read his reaction, but all she saw was shock and happiness all mixed together, and gods, she really wanted to kiss him. She could see he wanted the same as his eyes travelled down to her lips.
But she couldn’t let it happen.
So, she pulled back further and finally got out of the car.
“Goodnight Matt.”

“~See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls meeee
And no one knowsssss, how far it goessss~”
“SHITTY-KAWA! SHUTUP!” Iwaizumi turned around in his seat so fast that Hinata jumped and screamed
“I’ll try to find another song that he doesn’t know.” Tsuki grumbled and scrolled through his phone.
The tree’s blurred fast and the afternoon sun beat down on the small mini van that carried the volleyball players. They were all on their way to a training camp that they had all unknowingly signed up for together. And what better way to get there than by car pooling?
“I have to pee.”
“God damnit Ushijima, we asked if anyone needed to go in that last town!” Oikawa growled and shot the ace a piercing look.
“Are we there yet?” Bokuto complained, his body draped against all three seats in the back row of the van.
Akaashi sighed, “no Bokuto, we are not there, we have a ways to go.”
“well i’m very bored. I’m probably the most bored person on the planet.”
Kuroo looked at the passing street signs, “Wait...I think we were supposed to take that right turn back there.”
Hinata was suddenly slammed against the window when Iwaizumi came to a screeching halt and began to reverse into traffic. “I’M NOT MAKING ANOTHER U-TURN” he screamed
*snap* “omg Hinata your face is so ugly in this picture. i’ll send it to everyone we know.” Oikawa laughed to himself.
2 hours in
Oikawa: “OPEN UP THE DIRTY WINDOW”
Hinata: “LET THE SUN ILLUMINATE THE WORDS YOU CAN NOT FIND
Bokuto: “REACHING FOR SOMETHING IN THE DISTANCE”
Akaashi: “so close you can almost taste it”
Kuroo: “release your inhibitions”
Everyone together: “FEEL THE RAIN ON YOUR SKIN! NO ONE ELSE CAN FEEL IT FOR YOU! ONLY YOU CAN LET IT IN! NO ONE ELSE, NO ONE ELSE, CAN SPEAK THE WORDS ON YOUR LIPS!”
3 hours in:
“Okay seriously, who farted. No judgement, I just want to know.” Akaashi rolled down the window and stuck his nose out while everyone else stuck their noses in their shirts.
“I bet it was Ushijima, all he’s been eating are those kale chips.”
“It was Tsuki, he started playing songs with the loudest beats to cover it up.”
“It was me.” Bokuto yawned and let out another rip.
Hinata slammed into the passengers seat when Iwaizumi slammed on the brakes, “I gotta go puke i’ll be right back.”
4 hours in:
“Kuroo are you sure the map is correct?” Akaashi asked after he was done passing out the sandwiches.
“of course! it’s never steered me wrong.”
Can I see it?” asked Tsuki.
“sure thing, here you go” and then Kuroo passed it back.
“Kuroo, I didn’t know you could speak french.”
*silence*
“that’s in french?”
“AHHHH!” Hinata screamed when he was thrown by Iwaizumi slamming on the brakes into Ushijima’s stomach who immediately double over.
“I just urinated on myself.”
Oikawa turned around, “better not.”
Ushijima just nodded yes.
4 1/2 hours in:
“Tsuki please, enough with the “alvin and the chipmunks sing jurassic park soundtrack’”
“HINATA!” Oikawa yelled, “it’s CROSS, LEAN, SNAP! THE RENEGADE ISN’T THAT HARD! Now I have to start my tiktok all over”
5 hours in:
“we have a problem!” Iwaizumi yelled and Bokuto sat up, three neck pillow piled on his neck and a sleeping mask that said “sleeping beauty” in pink glittery letters.
“YOU’RE GETTING US PULLED OVER?!” Kuroo yelled.
“Don’t worry. I got this.” Iwaizumi said as he pulled over to the side of the road and Akaashi began to make sure everyone was buckled up and began to straighten out Oikawa’s clothes...Akaashi knew what was about to go down.
The officer knocked on the window and bent down when Iwaizumi rolled down the window.
“Do you know why I pulled you over young man?” The officer peered at the group from over the top of his black sunglasses. Hinata was visible shaking, Ushijima was asleep, Kuroo was videotaping the encounter, Bokuto was trying to guess Tsuki’s password and Akaashi was styling Oikawa’s hair.
“No sir...but we are kind of in a rush, is there anything we can do to let us off the hook.” Iwaizumi eyed the cop up and down, “perhaps....a bribe?”
The cop straightened up and looked both ways down the road before leaning down again, “That’ll be 10,000 yen.”
“yo, Ushijima, how much yen you got on you right now?”
Ushijima reached into his pockets to reveal nothing, “I spent it all at the last town we were at.”
“WHAT COULD YOU HAVE POSSIBLY SPENT IT ON?” Tsuki yelled.
“The town. I bought the entire town. Its name is “Welcome to Shiratorizawa, you can never leave.”
The cop watched the exchange and raised an eyebrow. “If you can’t come up with the money, I’ll take something more....personal.” and licked his lips. “I’ll take him.” and pointed to Oikawa.
Iwaizumi cursed, “I wish it didn’t have to come to this.”
“Akaashi, Kuroo. Grab Oikawa.”
“WAIT WH-” but before Oikawa could fight them off the boys had pushed him out the door to the waiting car before driving off.
“And then there were 6.” Bokuto sighed
At the destination:
The boy’s stumbled out of the car all hyped up on red bull and trail mix. At one point Bokuto had shaved an “avatar the last airbender” arrow into Hinata’s hair and Oikawa was muttering “license and registration please.” over and over again under his breath. They had picked up Oikawa the next town over where he had been seen trying to hitch hike
Ushijima and Tsuki were currently fighting on what was the great dinosaur to ever live. T-rex for Tsuki, and a seagull for Ushijima.
Kuroo and Akaashi had come out of the trip relatively unscathed besides Kuroo speaking nothing but french.
And Iwaizumi now had a warrant out for his arrest in 7 provinces. Slowly, they all made their way to the gym the training camp was supposed to be held only to freeze in their tracks at the sign hanging on the door.
“reporté à la semaine prochaine?” Kuroo asked
“Postponed to next week.” Akaashi translated.
“oh....no...”

The Fifth Night
Mulder’s feeling better after his stomach bug. Scully starts to panic about the relationship.
Mulder wasn’t quite sure when Scully left the night before; all he knew was that he was disappointed that she didn’t stay. Part of him wanted to look around for a note, but he knew there wouldn’t be one. They weren’t there, yet.
Everything was still new despite knowing each other for years. New and uncertain. One wrong move could send the entire thing spiraling and he couldn’t risk that. So, he played it safe.
Which bought him last night, he assumed. He was sick as all hell and she took care of him. It was very… domestic.
Not that he had any issues with domesticity. In fact, in the past, he’d pictured having a family and living a simple life. That picture, however, was meant to take place after he found Samantha.
Yet, the more he thought about last night, the more he wondered if this was his simple life. In some twisted way, that was. It was simple because he realized that he didn’t need much. Just her.
Mulder wasn’t sure when, exactly, he’d fallen in love with Scully. Literally, he woke up one day, faced himself in the mirror, and admitted it. He had to admit it. He watched his own face light up when he heard her voice on the other end of the phone as he tried to brush his teeth.
Since then, he couldn’t erase it. He couldn’t hide it nor pretend. And, some days, that was torture.
But, then, things started shifting. She indulged him a little more; flirted back. She started falling for him, too.
For awhile, Mulder was okay with how things had been going. Better that than nothing all, he’d often rationalized. He took it on her terms. Not because he was raised an eastern gentleman, but because the risk was too high.
Out of the blue, she’d invited him over for dinner and a Christmas movie. In that same conversation, it became a week-long event.
Until last night. Until he’d spent the day puking up, very literally, anything he put in his body. But, she was there.
Whether as his doctor, his partner, his friend, his girlfriend—.
Whoa.
His girlfriend.
Mulder liked the sound of that.
But, Scully wasn’t his girlfriend. Not in any official capacity, anyway. They hadn’t had that conversation.
He told himself that they would one of these days but he couldn’t honestly say that he believed it.
The past week, though… God, it felt like it. And, it felt good. It was nice knowing there was someone who genuinely cared about him. It was nice to have someone cuddle close to him while watching TV. It was nice holding her in his arms. It was nice to fall asleep with her running her fingers through his hair.
He didn’t want it to end at the end of the seven day period. He didn’t want it to end a month from now. He didn’t want it to end at all.
That was the scary part: Mulder couldn’t see the end. It was exhilarating as it was terrifying. Like, skydiving. Or, so he imagined.
Even though he still wasn’t feeling a hundred percent, Mulder made his way to the bathroom to go through his morning routine: shower, shave; forego the coffee because he wasn’t completely sure his stomach could handle it, yet.
He didn’t feel like he was feverish so he was going to work. He needed to see her.
When he got there, however, he found out that she was assisting in Quantico for the day, leaving him alone in the office. If he’d known he wouldn’t see her at all, he would’ve just stayed home.
Around lunch, his phone rang.
“Mulder,” he answered.
“Mulder? Hey, it’s me.”
He smiled. “Hey, Scully.”
“You sound better.”
“I feel better.”
“Good. Good. I tried calling your home phone…”
“I’m not at home.”
“Mulder…” He smirked at the disapproval in her voice. Really, he expected nothing less.
“I’m actually at the office. And, you’re not.”
“Sorry, I’m stuck doing autopsies today,” she replied, sighing. If he didn’t know better, he’d think she was disappointed. And, not just in him for going to work.
“So, I heard,” Mulder replied. “Are we still on to watch a movie later?” Scully didn’t answer for a moment and he got nervous. “Scully?”
“I’m here. Are you feeling up to it?”
He smiled at that, resisting the urge to tell her that nothing could keep him from coming over except her word.
“I feel fine. No fever. I’ve been able to keep down food today.”
She didn’t say anything again. Mulder couldn’t help but to wonder if his illness was the excuse she needed to stop with these nights. Was she running away? Or, what if he got her sick? He smirked at the thought. He’d just have to take care of her the way she did him.
“You’re welcome to come over and watch a movie with me,” Scully finally responded. “Only if you feel up to it.”
“I wouldn’t miss it,” Mulder replied with a smile.
“Okay.” He could hear the smile in her voice and it gave him butterflies. She wanted to see him. “What have you been able to keep down? I don’t want to make something that you can’t eat.”
It was his turn to grin.
“I kept down a sandwich earlier,” he offered. “I probably could’ve eaten two, but I didn’t want to push it.”
“Okay. Well—.” He heard the muffled voice of another man and fought the urge to get jealous as Mulder told himself that it was probably just some poor lab geek returning from doing Scully’s bidding. Like any man would. “Mulder, I have to go. I’ll see you tonight.”
“It’s a—.” He heard the click on the other end of the phone as she disconnected the call. “Date,” Mulder finished to himself.
He exhaled deeply through the mouth.
It was going to be a long rest of the day.
At six o’clock that evening, Mulder stood outside of Scully’s apartment, waiting for her to answer the door, poinsettias in hand. He was early and hoped she didn’t mind.
“Muuulllldeeeer…” she said in that sheepish yet grateful way that she did whenever he did something particularly sweet. She gave him a peck on the cheek and thanked him for going to find a place for it. Mulder couldn’t help but chuckle at the sounds of Alvin and the Chipmunks singing about the holiday.
He’d give her crap about that later.
He noticed the Christmas tree in the corner when he took his coat off and hung it on the coat rack. He’d wondered when she’d finally put one up.
“Scully, you know I would’ve brought this up for you,” he said with a slight hint of admonishment.
Scully waved him off. “I paid the teenager next door twenty bucks to do it.” He must’ve made a face because she stiffened awkwardly and added, “You can put the lights on it while I make dinner, if you want. They’re already out.”
He nodded, forcing himself to contain his happiness at being able to share in that. Scully loved Christmas. She had since he’s known her.
“They’re in that tub over there,” she said, pointing to one of three tubs labeled ‘Christmas’. With that, she went to the kitchen and Mulder went to work.
By six thirty, Mulder found himself tangled in Christmas lights and Scully laughing at him but doing nothing to help free him of his multi-colored bondage.
“A little help?” He asked and she finally made her way over to unwrap him.
There was a euphemism in there somewhere, he thought but chose not to say that aloud.
When he was free of the cords, Scully went back to the kitchen to check on dinner and came back, declaring that it would be ready in a few minutes.
He got the lights on the tree in time for the oven’s timer to go off.
Scully loaded the last of the dishes into the dishwasher and made her way back to the living room to help Mulder decorate the tree. When she got into the living room, she caught sight of the poinsettias on the table behind the couch. It was thoughtful of him and she appreciated the gesture, but the look on his face when he gave them to her gave her butterflies.
Even now, when she saw them in passing.
“So, what first?” He asked.
She pointed to the tub containing ornaments and told him they’d start there.
As they decorated the tree, Scully stole glances at him. This particular step of their relationship, while still undefinable, was exciting and nerve-racking at the same time. On the one hand, it was just Mulder. Her best friend. Her partner. On the other hand, it was Mulder. Her best friend and partner.
She’d been in love with him for longer than she cared to admit and knew he felt the same. So, why was this so hard; so… Scary?
“The Grinch,” she smiled. “Followed by Holiday Inn, if you want to stick around for that.”
“No White Christmas? No Charlie Brown? I’m disappointed.”
Scully smirked in response, desperately trying not to give him the satisfaction of a laugh. “Those are Christmas Eve movies.”
“Ah,” he replied with a self-satisfied smirk. They stared at each other for a moment and she thought he was going to kiss her. Instead, he cleared his throat and said, “I’ll get the fire started.”
He was already in the living room before she could process what he’d said.
Mulder sat anxiously through most of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Scully was acting differently than she had all week. She was… hesitant. Part of him wondered if he’d done something wrong. Another part of him wondered if he’d gotten her sick.
He glanced at her, sitting on the opposite side of the couch. They should’ve been cuddled together by now. But, they weren’t.
“Scully?” He blurted. She looked at him. “Is everything okay?”
“Yes.” Mulder nodded his response. “Why?” She added.
“You just seem… I don’t know. I didn’t give you that bug I had, did I?”
She chuffed a laugh. “No, I’m fine.”
“Famous last words.” Mulder tried to sound playful, but the look she gave him said he’d failed. Miserably. He winced at returned his gaze to the TV.
A solid while went by before the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes, causing Mulder to blurt, “Wouldn’t he die if that happened?”
He glanced to Scully who was shooting him the most adorably confused expression he’d ever seen on her perfect face.
“It’s a cardiomyopathy, right?” He continued. It took a moment, but a grin formed on her face. “See, I pay attention when you say words I don’t quite understand.”
“Oh, Mulder,” she said in that way that made his insides knot up.
“I’m just saying,” he continued playfully, “it’s not natural. It’s bound to lead to heart failure.”
She laughed at that and he felt like he could breathe again.
There was a moment of silence, as the credits rolled, before Mulder asked, “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Mm,” she replied. “I’m just tired. Long day.”
“Oh, okay.” Try as he might, he couldn’t hide his disappointment. “I’ll get out of your hair, then. Let you get some sleep.”
She looked at him curiously before getting up to rewind the tape.
“I’m still going to watch Holiday Inn,” she announced quietly. “You don’t have to leave if you don’t want to.”
Mulder’s gaze jerked to Scully, whose back was still to him and a small smile quirked on his lips.
“Only if you’re sure…”
“Mulder, it’s totally up to you,” she said, pausing briefly before adding, “I’d like to watch it with you, but I’m not going to be offended if you don’t want to stay.”
As a response, he settled back into the couch, hoping desperately that she’d sit closer for this movie.
To his delight, she did.

The Masked Singer Season 3 Episode 16: The Finale/The Winner is Announced (Commentary & Reveals)
Hello fellow lovers of the Masked Singer. Welcome to the last Ana’s Masked Recap of Season 3 (don’t worry I will be back for season 4 in the fall... hopefully, depending on how busy I am). In the meantime, I am probably going to do more recaps of other shows (maybe AGT or World of Dance since they are starting up next week, let me know if you want to see that, I have no idea how I will do it but I will give it a shot) Anyways, for the last time *sheds a tear*, let’s freaking do this: (P.S. they are spoilers just a warning for y’all & I will be revealing them as I go similarly to the format of when eliminated contestants are revealed episode by episode, oh & we are still doing PANEL SPOTLIGHTS woohoo but this time we are gonna give all the judges’ guesses & reward them with a 🏆 or give them the 💩 emoji)
Alright, first & foremost, we have the mask that came in 3rd place, who was:

THE FROG
Performance: To be honest, his performance of “Bad Boy For Life” by P. Diddy was probably the worst performance of the night, only because there wasn’t any improvement. It was the same kind of performances that he has been doing, which makes sense why he got 3rd place. However, I do gotta give him credit because rapping ain’t easy & he is a great dancer so congrats to him on being in the finals.
Having said that, the frog was revealed to be:

BOW WOW (AKA SHAD MOSS)
Yup, guessed it since his first performance! It was pretty obvious due to the clues & here are the latest set of clues:

Nicole: Bow Wow 🏆 (she just rode Robin’s coat tails but whatever I'll still give it to her... even though she at first said MC Hammer which was a terrible guess)
Alright, now onto our runner-up who was:

THE TURTLE 🥺😢
Performance: OK I am so upset about this one, because I feel (and a lot of people I saw on social media felt the same way as me so I don’t feel as dumb for feeling this) that he had the best performance of the night with Before You Go by Lewis Capaldi and he should’ve won honestly. He was the most vocally diverse on the show, he legit gave me chills & if it were based on talent, he would’ve won. This is genuinely the first season in which I don’t agree with who the winner is. In my heart, Turtle won but he didn’t get the trophy. Actually never mind let me give him a trophy: 🏆, here ya go, you deserve all the love in the world & I genuinely am a big fan of you with or without the mask.
Having said that, let’s get into who he was unmasked (someone who I am still a huge fan of... the same feeling I have towards Astronaut I have towards him):

JESSE FREAKING MCCARTNEY
(Yes I said freaking because I am hyping him up, btw he came out with a new single, it’s called Friends & it slaps, I 100% recommend it if you are a fan of the Turtle like myself)
Ok, again, I saw this coming, I’ve listened to his music since the Disney Channel days (around like his Beautiful Soul days... 2004-2006 or so) so I recognized his voice immediately & I did some clue digging... and here are the latest set of clues:

THE NIGHT ANGEL
Performance: Ok, yes, she’s the first female to ever win The Masked Singer & congrats to her for that, that’s amazing, girl power (I am a girl myself so I love that). However, her performance of River Deep, Mountain High by Tina Turner wasn’t anything groundbreaking nor was it enough to beat the Turtle. I can say that about her performances in general. They are great, but they aren’t anything spectacular. Not saying that she sucks by any means, she is a great singer, I just don’t think she won based on talent alone, but probably because she is a female & they wanted a woman to win the show this season since men have won twice before. I am a bit disappointed, this is the first time I don’t agree with the winner of the show & it makes me sad because I am the first person to want a woman to win, but this time I don’t feel like it was deserved. It is what it is though, no hate towards her by any means.
Having said that, the winner of the Golden Mask trophy was revealed to be:

KANDI BURRUSS
Again, this was not surprising at all! It was pretty obvious due to the clues & here are the latest set of clues:
