New Directions

Minneapolis-based Owen Brown holds degrees from Yale College and the University of Chicago. He has participated in exhibitions throughout the USA and his work has been covered in numerous publications. The artist’s paintings are known for their luminosity, colour range and ebullient geometries. He notes: “outrage can guide my brush towards the figurative; at other times I am captured by the language and longing of abstraction. Regardless the treatment, art’s goal should be to awaken others, to uncover something new – something that we can then have within the shared range of our humanity.” Brown is represented by Grand Hand and Veronique Wantz.

It sounds like literally thousands of many straight A+ students with perfect scores and after school activities apply to these colleges every year. Most don’t get in.

Honestly, unless, you are a star athlete, a legacy or have a parent with the means to donate millions and millions (looking at you, Jared Kushner), it is incredibly tough and competitive.

The real problem is legacies and wealthy donors. But since no one wants to go after rich people, let’s just blame black people.

recently i’m thinking about how both of rory’s lovers left her on her graduation day. first it was jess who literally went without saying goodbye, end up not taking her to prom and didn’t showed up for her graduation. but he was 17 and he didn’t know better. and later it was logan, who proposed and when rory had told him “i love you, i love the idea of being married to you but i can’t do it right now at this moment” literally gave her an ultimatum - marry me or else. he was 25 but acted like a literal child at this moment. and i hate it because rory worked so hard for both of these moments, especially for the second one, after having a meltdown and taken a time off and yet, her boyfriend, the person who told her “you base your decision based on what you want for you” left her because she didn’t wanna marry him right at 22 when she graduates, and it sucks.
