Hey friends, it’s been a while...
Lots of progress has been made on the comic wip, and wouldn’t you know it, I changed Juno’s costume design again. As much as I miss the Pierrot outfit, I think this actually suits the version of her I originally had in my head a lot better. I feel like I know her again, which is really nice (I may just have to develop a side clown oc to fill in the void...)
It still needs a few tweaks here and there, but in the meantime I wanted to just give an update and show the internet what I have so far :)
Have a good day!

Another colour experiment, in which Ezra encounters some sheepies!! Here I included both the full colour drawing, and the page out of my sketchbook. Been trying to do some more “finished pieces”, as experiments :)

Started out by drawing a bathroom I saw on Pinterest, ended up with a little skeleton character from a comic that now has a total of one (1) page completed.

Finally did a full-blown character sheet for one of my comic characters. Sabrina probably has the most concrete character design as of right now so I figured I’d start with her ^_^
Hope you enjoy!

A rare colour drawing! Now we can finally appreciate Sabrina in all of her glory :)
I haven’t done digital art in a long time, and with this drawing I used traditional lineart and then coloured it digitally. I still have a lot to learn, but I enjoyed making this one and I hope you enjoy looking at it.

Here’s a more fleshed-out version of some of Sabrina’s outfit designs
Some costume design notes for one of my characters, Sabrina. The story she’s in takes place in a sort of dystopian city with a wide mix of cultures influencing the architecture and style of dress. For Sabrina, a lot of the inspiration is taken from Ottoman/Turkish styles.

This is the main character of my comic, Ezra. He’s popped up in a couple of my other posts, but I figured now was as good a time as any to give him a full sketchbook spread :)

Hello again! This is not an art piece related to my comic, but it’s one I did a couple of years ago for a high school art project, and I wanted to share it with you :)
In this piece, I wanted to express my love for chamber music, both listening to it and playing it. I’ve been involved in many string chamber groups since I was in 8th grade, and it’s seriously one of my favourite things. I’ve developed so many friendships with people in my music community because of it, and I LOVE the repertoire. The picture I chose as a reference was a picture I got off of the first violinist’s (pictured far left) Instagram, of our string quintet performing at a music competition. The caption of the picture is “photographic proof that we do look at each other when we play.” I just thought it was a really beautiful illustration of the sense of ensemble and attention to detail required when playing chamber music.
We played the fourth movement of Mozart’s string quintet in c minor, so I decided to use that piece to determine the colour scheme of the base:
Dark Blue - c minor
Yellow - C Major (parallel major)
Maroon/magenta - E flat major (relative major of C minor)
Orange - G Major (dominant chord)
White - for contrast
I wanted to start in bottom left corner with almost pure dark blue, and end in the top right corner is almost pure yellow. These indicate the beginning and end of the piece,as it begins in c minor and ends in c major. I listened to the piece as I painted, and put down colours wherever I thought they fit in relation to the music (I’m sure I looked a bit manic in the process lol) I then represented each of the musicians (two violins, two violas and a cello) in a sort of sketchy looking cubist style, using white for the main lines and black accents. As per the style I tried to represent multiple perspectives and actions with each figure, a common one being cueing the other musicians by looking up and lifting the bow, followed by looking down and laying the bow onto the string, as if concentrating on the music in front of them.
Sorry for the long post lol. Hope you enjoy!

Some more costume concepts for another character in my comic. This one’s name is Juno, and I’d been struggling with the sort of aesthetic I wanted to give her that fit this world (originally the story was set in our current modern universe and therefore she had a very modern wardrobe that proved itself difficult to transition her out of). So I tried giving her these little Pierrot-esque clown costumes, and I think she looks rather cute ^_^
