Hyrule's Religiosity, the Hero of Time, and You

So, inspired by Ansem's post, & because I have Thoughts™, I wanted to type this up. While it isn't written in universe, I'm sure I'll end up doing footnotes anyway so I can get the main points across without going on aside after aside.(that's a lie I'm gonna anyway fair warning)

So this post is gonna be broken up into smaller parts about specific topics. I'm gonna be talking about religion, the intersection & mixing of religions, & the legend of the hero of time existing before Link goes on his quest. Buckle up because we're going deep. This is also a very long post; sitting at just under 2,400 words. Sorry not sorry.

Trianity

So, airlifted from Ansem's post linked above, the religion of Hyrule is Trianity. I'm going to expand that to most of the known world worships some kind of Trianity; at least as far as humans & Hylians are concerned*. I will also airlift the idea that it broadly resembles Christianity, but I would probably add in some Shinto practices & beliefs. Not because the games are made in Japan, but more to do with the storylines & themes found in each game ( restoring the balance of nature is a common one in most Zelda games ). This includes the various offshoots that have occured over the years, such as Golden Trianity ( with a focus on the Golden Goddesses above all ), Hyland Trianity ( with a focus on Hylia above all ), & Nohansen Trianity ( which places emphasis on the sages & oracles in a similar capacity to the saints in real world Catholicism )†. Again, a lot of this was covered in Ansem's post so read that goes into more details because the broad notes are the same here.

I do disagree with the take that the Goddess of Time is a lesser power in the Trianity pantheon††. It's more likely in my mind that ( insofar as OoT is concerned at least ) she is the goddess of travels as well; most real world gods represent more than one thing. I'll get into this more when talking about the 'mythical' Hero of Time, but in my mind the legend dealt with her giving that Hero of Time the powers to travel through time.

Trianity, like Christianity, would probably place a large emphasis on prayer instead of offerings like more ancient religions do.

While I believe the other species in Hyrule's world ( which should really have a name ) have their own religions, & I don't believe Trianity is actively denying those religions ( unlike Christianity but quite like older polytheistic religions that would apply their gods to those they encountered ), I do believe that religious officials pressure those species to change their ways & also for the Royal Family to do the same.

Older Religions ( for lack of a better term )

Another point I disagree with Ansem ( sorry babe ) is the idea that Lord Jabu-Jabu is a part of Nohansen Trianity. He is specifically referred to as the 'patron deity of the Zora', & also appears in Oracle of Ages, in Labrynna, in a similar role. While he could certainly be folded into Trianity, I don't think this is the case. I believe the guardian spirits ( Great Deku Tree, Lord Jabu-Jabu, Goddess of Sands, Fierce Deity, etc. ) are more representative of older religions or are otherwise outside Trianity.

Side note: it is stated by a gossip stone in Ocarina of Time that the Gerudo 'worship Ganondorf almost like a god'. I am unsure if I'd put this as an actual religious practice ( i.e. before Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time became The Big Bad™, if Gerudo actually worshipped their first male in a hundred years. Sidestepping how gross & weird this idea is) or if it was something instituted by either Twinrova or Ganondorf himself to ensure loyalty amongst his subjects. Ganondorf does go on to be worshipped by Zant in Twilight Princess, & by the Deku in Four Swords Adventures but that seems to be something Ganondorf convinced them of, not a statement to his actual divinity.

I'll probably make a more in-depth post about this later, but despite Termina being a land made by skull kid & Majora's Mask ( according to the Encyclopedia & this blog ), I think the Giants that are central to that game's story are actual primeval divinities worshipped by ancient hylians & / or humans. As the Encyclopedia & game contradict each other ( if the world was created by skull kid & Majora's Mask, how was he friends with the Giants? If he knew of them from Hyrule where are other references to them? ), I'm choosing to make up that, as the land of Termina has 'its own distinct culture, which is perhaps influenced by Majora's ancient tribe' ( Encyclopedia pg. 36 ), that the Giants were the gods of whatever land Majora came from ( presumably predating Hyrule as the mask was ancient by the time of the Era of Time ). I could see them being the protectors of those who were left behind by Hylia when she yeeted Skyloft into the air. Alternatively be the gods previously worshipped in some far flung land, where people had fled to escape the divine conflict. I need to sit on it more but I thought it bore mentioning here.¶

As evidenced in Ocarina of Time, these older religions place gods much closer to their worshippers. The Great Deku Tree is the father to the Kokiri, you can go & see him & Lord Jabu-Jabu, & both the Four Giants & Fierce Deity§ appear in their homeland's greatest hour of need. They are neither omnipotent nor are they silent like the Golden Goddesses, but they are implied to be impressively powerful.

Evil Divinities

Okay, last stop before we talk about the Hero of Time I promise. Ignoring the racism of Hylians in Ocarina of Time, there are several beings I'd classify as 'evil divinities'. Majora & Demise are obvious, but I'd also like to thrown in Bellum & Malladus in this section. Majora isn't directly called a god anywhere in the game or even the manga, only that a 'great power' lay in the mask. While we can assume Majora was a divinity in the ancient tribe's pantheon, it isn't expressed. I mean the same is with Demise & Malladus, though Zelda Wiki tells me that Bellum is referred to as an 'evil dream god'. That is without a citation & I don't feel like sitting through a playthrough of Phantom Hourglass to find it so take it with a grain of salt.

These examples almost all use the epithet of 'Demon King', so it's possible they are corruptions of other deities that either Trianity or the Royal Family desired to make look worse. Of course the idea is worth speculating on but outside the scope of this post. I think they do still have small followings sprinkled throughout the world ( with Majora cultists taking my Time's eye ), & these are usually the ones responsible for their return.

I should also note that I am hesitant to separate Ganon & Demise, as Ganon is simply the reincarnation of Demise's hatred, or a transformation of Ganondorf when he has the Triforce of Power. The idea is an interesting one but I'm unsure. Just wanted to note here that I can see Ganon as being a god of sorts to the various blin species in Hyrule, but am not 100% sold on it as from a timeline sense Ganon is named after Ganondorf, though from a developmental standpoint it's the other way around.

The Hero of Time Myth

Okay so! It's implied in Ocarina of Time as well as in the manga that by the events of the game, The Hero of Time is a legendary hero; a title of sorts to any hero of Hyrule who travels through time if I had to guess as the source material is frustratingly vague on this point. In the manga, the young Princess Zelda says the Hero of Time will save her, to which Ganondorf responds by thinking 'what a stale old superstition', meaning to me that it has to have been imbedded in Hyrulean folklore for a significant period of time. Whether this predated the founding of the actual kingdom of Hyrule following the Interloper War, or had arisen during the period of time when Hyrule was first colonized by Skyloftians, is the question. Both ideas interest me; if it was a story told by those Skyloftian colonists & their descendants, it could have arisen as an alternative name or some other kind of corruption for the Hero of the Skies as he travels through time in Skyward Sword. Alternatively it could be the name of a hero who traveled through time during the Interloper War, as that period seems ripe for an Incarnation of Demise, Spirit of the Hero, & the Bloodline of the Goddess to come into conflict. Perhaps that 'Ganon' was an Interloper? Could be an explanation for Zant accepting him as a god, millennia later.

In either case, I believe the myth would eventually incorporate this nameless Goddess of Time, if it didn't at the start||. Perhaps in the role of a guide for a wayward hero to travel through time with, perhaps simply as their patron, perhaps as the one who sends the Hero of Time through time. In any case, this would be why Zelda in the Era of Time, who is familiar with the myth of the Hero of Time, would know the Goddess of Time. This would especially be a good explanation if you follow the idea that the Goddess of Time is a lesser divinity in the Trianity pantheon. This hypothetical original Hero of Time would have been the one to place the Master Sword in its pedestal, cementing its connection with him.

Of course, this is assuming there is a historical figure who would become warped into a legend. It is just as possible that the Hero of Time was purely fictional before the events of Ocarina of Time. Both are possible, but a lot of legends in this series have some truth to them so I think it fits better if the Hero of Time myth was based in some historical event.

* There is a difference between humans & Hylians, however slight it might be. As far as I'm aware it's their pointed ears, which allows them to hear the voice of the goddesses, as it's implied that they have a similar lifespan to humans. Also for purposes of this blog, I'm going to work off the assumption that humans are the main population of Labrynna & Holodrum as the sprites seem to imply that the residents there have rounded ears.

†Not that I expect it to come up on the blog, but I'd like to state that I think Hyland Trianity is popular in Hyrule during the Era of the Wilds, with Golden Trianity being popular in New Hyrule ( from Spirit Tracks; I like to think it's a separate country by the time BotW rolls around ) & Nohansen Trianity coming to prominence in Labrynna & Holodrum. I'm sure there was some kind of religious schism to cause these distinctions but that's neither here nor there.

††I'm sure, like most pantheons, there's drift throughout the ages of who are the 'main' gods. Naturally the Golden Goddesses would remain prominent if not center stage, with Hylia drifting in & out of prominence. The Goddess of Time could be in a similar boat if we don't ascribe that title to another Goddess. Then, of course, you have the nature spirits that are separate from mortals yet still worshipped in some capacity ( think like naiads or fairies ); Volvagia is the spirit of Death Mountain, the Light Spirits in Twilight Princess are another example.

¶ Also, I'm currently undecided if I think the names of the bosses in Majora's Mask are the names of the Giants or if they're the name of the bosses. On one hand, they'd have names. On the other, Odolwa being the name of the god of Deku is interesting, if redundant; the Great Deku Tree would be a much better fit for good-aligned Deku. If I go with the later idea, I'd probably make the Four Giants be named after the four cardinal directions, as they hold up the sky ( moon but hush ) like the four dwarves in Norse Mythology who are also named after the four cardinal directions.

§Oh man do I have Thoughts™ on Fierce Deity. I'll probably make a post later, but while I will agree he represents the feelings of all the people of Termina, he is also said to be equally as dangerous as Majora himself. Yet how did Majora get a hold of him? If we accept the manga backstory to Majora as canon, the man who is implied to become the Fierce Deity Mask is a god with control over time. Hmm... many Thoughts™...

||Religious history, especially with a history as convoluted as the Zelda series', is hard. It's especially hard when you lack any primary sources to check yourself against. If Trianity did come from Skyloft originally, the original form would presumably be Hyland Trianity, due to the importance of Hylia in the religion. This doesn't sit right with me, as there's no reason that I can think of as to why Hyland Trianity would fall out of favor for Golden Trianity without just pulling something out my ass. However, if we assume that Rauru, in building the Temple of Time to protect the Sacred Realm, introduced a more structured religion based around the Golden Goddesses alone & either left out or downplayed Hylia until she was forgotten, then it would make more sense to me that Golden Trianity would fall out of favor by the time of the Era of the Wilds, as that Hyrule seems much more aware of its past. Archeological discoveries of shrines to Hylia could very well have shifted religious thought in Hyrule, whereas New Hyrule with its deeper connection to the foundations of Golden Trianity, would continue to follow that branch. As Nohansen Trianity involves the sages & oracles, it serves Holodrum & Labrynna, where the oracles of Din & Nayru are most heavily associated with, quite well.

Taliesin has watched many heroes grow and live their lives throughout history. But the ones he helped raise and so considers his children can be counted on one hand.

Branwen, daughter of Llyr and sister to Bran, and Yvain of the Lion, son of Uriens, are the two he thinks of the most fondly. His son and daughter. His little cub and dear songbird. Branwen’s death was what made him forego living among mortals for centuries until Uriens captured him. And Yvain’s death was what pushed him to leave the mortal realm entirely, though via death or simply finding a Gate is a mystery he won’t answer.

He helps you out of ur uniform, sweeping you up into his arms to be placed in the bath. The warm water, scented at your request, settles your nerves, the tension leaving your muscles as Jason starts washing down your shoulders and chest. He settles behind you, your body trapped against his. His legs on either side of you and his thick arms holding you tightly against his chest. His chin usually rests on the top of your head as you ramble about your evening. He'll press soft sweet kisses under your ear and along the curve of your neck, making you giggle. - He'll help you step out of the bath and wrap you tightly in a towel, giving you one of his shirts to change into as he finds his sweatpants. You fall asleep on top of him, nestling into the safety of his arms. Both of you are cozy and extremely sappy. But it's just a fraction of the love that he pours into you and your relationship. Jason falls asleep smiling, knowing that he has the most important person in his life wrapped up and safe tangled in his arms.

You don’t understand, this genuinely just made my whole day, week even!! Thank you!!! These are the sweetest headcanons ever, I would die for soft Jason.

I had the stupidest grin on my face reading the first one, he’s such a loser, but in the best way possible.

And because of that, I’d also like to add on to that one…!

You know when a song comes on that you know really well and you just can’t help but sing along? I think there would be a time in your relationship where he’d recite you a verse from his favourite poem, acting all high and mighty like this is his own work. You’ll look at him with a small smile on your face, trying to hold yourself back from reciting along with him, but you can’t help it!! Once you start, he’ll stop and get this really cute, sheepish smile, knowing that he’s been caught.

You’ll both let out a giggle and to tease him further, you’ll tell him he’s an amazing writer and that you’re a big fan of his works. This will end in one of two ways, he’ll tackle you and smother you with kisses or he’ll tickle you until you’re both a laughing mess. Either way, this doesn’t stop him from reading out his favourite lines to you and pretending like they’re his own.

The scheduled reading dates one also has me on such a chokehold. I want to be bundled up in a cosy sweater with big blanket and have him lay his head on my lap, while I play with his hair and read to him (I suck at reading out loud, he’d probably make fun of me LMAO).

I also want him to tell me about the books he’s reading, his eyes wide, full of life and beaming with passion.

This is when he looks the prettiest. He’s so excited, he’s waving his hands around gesturing to things, pacing around the room, trying to explain this crucial point in his story to you. You can’t help but stare at him in awe, he’s just so so pretty like this.

Yandere Sky Headcanons

Sky is, without a doubt, a hopeless romantic when he’s in love. We’ve seen him swoon and sigh dreamily when thinking about his loved one, he’s THAT kind of lover boy. Naturally, when adding a layer of insanity tinged love sickness to that adoration, he’s prone to becoming very affectionate.

Unless you are as dense as a rock, it will be no secret that the Hero of the Skies is head over heels in love with you. He basically has heart shaped pupils whenever he looks at you, cartoon heart bubbles magically appear around his head when in your vicinity and his face turns so red you’d think he had a high fever.

Sky is a devout yandere, obsessive in every way, shape and form, and protective to a fault. Even when not around you, you occupy his thoughts and daydreams to the point where it seems like he’s never not thinking about you.

He’s got a masters degree in yearning from Pining University.

And while he hasn’t lost that many people like some of the other mentally unstable chosen ones in the Chain(namely Wild and Legend), the fear of losing them is very real to him. He’s known the blood chilling terror of being a few steps too slow and a few minutes too late with the only thought in his head being “what did I do wrong?”

Following the conclusion of his first and only journey, Sky has come to accept that he made his mistakes and that he must move on in order to grow, but that doesn’t stop him from taking those lessons to heart when falling in love with you.

We’ve seen multiple times throughout the various installments that one of Sky’s favorite hobbies is playing his lyre. It’s a simple pleasure he indulges in whenever they have a moment of peace and the sound never fails to remind him of his home. But he’s found another reason to love it and that is the attention you end up giving him whenever he plays a song.

He isn’t the best musician in the group, but there’s no denying that the simple melodies he strings together are pleasing to the ears, so it’s no wonder you’d take the time to sit down, listen, and compliment him.

Sky doesn’t see it like that, though.

In his deluded, love hazy mind, all that registers is that you’re there giving him your attention and your praise; two things worth more than gold in his eyes. He’s like a drug addict who just got hit with another dosage. I mean, technically it isn’t for long, he won’t permanently take something that belongs to you without ever giving it back(in secret so you never find out it was him), but he WILL swipe something of yours from time to time. Most commonly he’ll take a tunic or shirt from you, something you won’t immediately notice is gone.

When he has a moment of privacy, he’ll take out his little treasure and press it against his face, taking in a deeeeeep breath, and sighing lovingly. He’s got it bad for you and he knows it. If he could he’d use your tunic as a pillowcase whenever he went to sleep, but there’s no way he wouldn’t get caught.

Despite all this sugary sweetness, Sky isn’t solely a soft and gentle boy. If he is provoked, or if you’re being bothered, Sky doesn’t hesitate to step up and glare down the nuisance, all the while keeping a calm smile stretched across his face. This is where his surprisingly deep voice comes in handy, people aren’t expecting a voice like his to come from such a soft face.

Out of all the members of the Chain, I actually think that Sky would be one of the most patient when it comes to people trying to mess with them or you respectively; he’s dealt with Groose’s bullying for a few years, I think he’s a natural at letting nasty comment slide right off him like water off a duck’s back.

However, even then his patience is dangerously thin regarding people. If provoked he won’t hesitate to begin plotting the fool’s demise, whether it be a swift cut to the jugular or a slow, agonizing demise is up to the person in question.

And finally, just a hint, do not try to run from him, it won’t work.

If Fi’s ability to dowse objects and seek them out is based on Sky’s own desire to find them, then if you were to try and run away, he’d be able to track you right down to the exact spot you’re standing in. Because there is nothing and no one alive that Sky wants and needs more than you.

Hide in the woods, in a cave, in a dungeon, in a mountain, it doesn’t matter. He will hunt you down, find you, and drag you back home in his loving, suffocating embrace.

Not a request this time, just a little fic based off the song 'Mrs Hollywood' by Go-Jo. Reader is Tav and they/them pronouns are used throughout.

Hopefully you guys enjoy, next one up will be a set of headcanons :)

The three times you leave Dammon, and the one time you stay

the first time

The excitement reaches its peak around the forge, tieflings bustling to and fro as they prepare. Dammon pauses at his forge, wiping the sweat on his forehead with the back of his hand before turning towards the familiar crunch of gravel.

"Hey stranger." He jokes, turning towards you. "Or maybe I should call you 'our hero' now." The correction comes as he turns fully, eyes taking in the figure before him.

God he wishes they could stay, that he and his forge could be enough. But they have their destiny ahead of them. Dammon is already sure he'll be but a small part.

"I heard you weren't coming to the party, I wanted to say goodbye to my favourite blacksmith." His chest tightens as you say the words, not wanting to let you leave, but Dammons knows this is how things need to be.

"It's hardly goodbye, you'll see us again soon, won't you?" The question is one neither can really know the answer to, but they smile and nod anyway and that's enough for Dammon.

The second time

They'd been lounging on the hay in his forge, two days of idle chatting as he worked and asking that ox with much to human eyes random questions.

The assault on Ketheric Thorm has kept them all busy, Dammon at his forge, them trying to form a plan. "What if I just have Gale disintegrate him, Dammon?" The question comes from the corner of the room, where they sit by the open arches.

"Can Gale disintegrate him?" Dammon asks, pulling back from his whetstone. "Maybe you should just use this." He gives the sword a little flourish, holding it out to them. Jumping from the mess of a hay bale, they reach for the sword.

"Oh, this is beautiful..." hands delicately take it, admiring it before stowing it away safe in it's sheath. Just as Dammon thinks nothing they do could surprise him, they're already pulling him into a hug.

Arms wrap tight around his chest as they press in close to him. "Thank you Dammon, I feel like my words just aren't enough." They murmur, Dammons own arms looping close around their waist.

"Just come back alive, that's enough, don't keep me here waiting."

The third time

Rolans words pause as the footfalls of boots echo up the stairs to Dammons new forge, and the blacksmiths attention turns towards the potential customer.

Excitement courses through Dammon as he sees them crest the top of the stairs, a bright smile adorning their face as they wave. "Hi Dammon! Oh, is Rolan here too?" They ask, looking between the two tieflings.

"A few things broke at his new tower during your fight, I'm just giving a quote at how much it'll be to fix." Dammon explains, seeing the way Rolan eyes how his tail sways as he focuses attention on them. It's hard to contain himself, but they'll never know or realise, the way his body reacts only obvious to other Tieflings.

"Well, I know you're busy, but I needed someone to look at my sword. It took a bit of a beating while we were, uh, doing an errand for Astarion." The end sounds more like question than fact, but Dammon hardly minds as he carefully takes the sword from their hands.

"No problem, I'll have it done by tomorrow. So long as the absolute don't invade the city by then." He winks at them, smiling as they laugh and turn away.

"I'll be back, then!" They throw up a hand as they start to walk away. "See you later Dammon, bye Rolan. As they leave a steady silence falls over the two men, Rolans eyebrow raising slightly.

"Still waiting in line for them, then, prince charming?"

Dammons only reply is to hang his head in his hands.

The time you stay

Parties rage through the streets, the celebration of the absolutes control finally being destroyed. Fireworks fizz and pop outside, children shout and squeal, men sing merry drinking songs.

It's no surprise Dammon stays inside. He's never been one for parties, that much is obvious. What is less obvious is why someone is knocking on his door so late.

Opening it with a stifled yawn, he soon sees the very object of his affections. Standing up straighter, opening the door wider to let them in, one question runs through his mind. "What could bring you here on a night like this?" He's in near disbelief, almost wondering if he nodded off as is dreaming.

"The parties are great and all but..." they trail off, looking down to their feel as they toe the wooden floor. Glancing up again, they finish their thought. "But they don't include you, Dammon."

He can't help the way he pulls them in by the arm, this time being the one to start the impromptu hug. Tail wrapping loosely around their leg as they sigh against his chest, Dammon feels the way their body sags against him.

"Stay." He tells them, face pressing into their hair, bodies curling around each other. "Stay with me this time, I've been waiting so long." The hands gripping his clothing hold him tighter, their face pulling from his chest to look him in the eye.

"Kiss me Dammon. I won't be leaving again." They barely get to finish their sentence, a hand finding the side of their face as Dammon does the very thing he's dreamt about for so long.

Even the fireworks outside can't compare to the ones when they finally kiss.

• Whenever Leo listens to music, he’ll always listen to at least one song related to fire. Ex) “This girl is on fire.” By Alisha Keys, just so he can set his hands on fire. He makes that joke every time.

•Whenever Hazel and Nico are alone together, they’ll listen to old songs from the forties, because no one can tell them otherwise.

•Whenever anyone on the Argo II was really sad or bummed out, Frank would literally give them a bear hug. And that’s how he became the designated hugger of the seven

•Every year on the anniversary of Jason’s death, Thalia leaves a stapler in front of his grave, and the seven leave a brick, along with a small note that says “We miss you Jase.”

• When Lester/Apollo came to camp, he sadly realized a lot of his older kids were taller than him, even if by only a few inches. Will would usually start with a “Oh my Gods guys, I think Dad grew an inch.” And Kayla would chime in with a (Sniffle) “He’s growing up so fast.” And it would continue for a good ten minutes.

•The one time the Stoll twins tried to prank the Hecate kids, they ended up only being able to sing for about a week straight.

a/n: @actuallyhiswife had a post about a Rammstein song fitting König and as a German metalhead who follows this band for a very long time I’m eager to share some of my culture with you guys. Tbh most of those songs are for a quite possessive and masochistic version of König, but tbh I can see that and I can’t wait to write some stalker!masochist!König inspired fics by those songs. This song is about the pleasure of pain mixed with degradation and manipulation. A line translates into: “Your body is already distorted, but it doesn’t matter because everything is permitted that pleases. I’m gonna hurt you.” And, how a person (reader) is obsessed and dependent from another (König) and this person literally doesn’t care about it. Another line translates into: “You’re completely devoted to me; You love me because I don’t love you. You gonna bleed for my salvation.”

This song is literally about submission and degradation. One line literally says: “I don’t care about the face, just bend over.”

Pussy

I have to add this one for obvious reasons. It’s just a song about having sex. I don’t think I need to really explain it, but I want to translate one of my favorite lines from that song that would fit König way too good. The line says: “Pretty Misses, do you desire more? Let’s have a blitzkrieg with my meaty rifle.”

Giftig

This song is literally about a toxic and dangerous relationship. A relationship that you can’t cut loose. So you rather destroy yourself with it than leave them. A line for example translates into: “The poison flows slowly into my blood, I start to see white lights and yes, somehow I do like it. There is simply no remedy.”

Originally this song was a statement to deny the accusations of the Band being part of the right scene in Germany. But the marching beat (added as irony back then) is something I just find fitting. A line translates into: “They want my heart on the right spot, but then I look below, it beats left there”

Rein Raus

This song is just about having sex and fitting a very huge dick into a tight cunt. Yeah, I don’t need to explain that further. A line to translate: “You moan, I predict you: An elephant into a bottleneck.”

Mein Teil

This is literal song about cannibalism. (Was inspired by the criminal case by the cannibal of Rothenburg.) Won’t go into any further details because the song speaks for itself. A line to translate: “Today I will meet a gentleman; he likes me so much he could eat me up. Soft parts and even hard ones are on the menu”

Waidmanns Heil

A song that totally holds hunter/prey vibes. It's about the thrill during a hunt. About the ecstasy the hunter feels while chasing his prey, and about the power balance/play. A transalate of the very first lines: "I've been in heat for days, so I'm going to hunt myself a doe and I'll sit there until morning, that I can give it a chest hit."

Du hast

It's, as I believe, one of the most known songs outside of Germany because of the simplicity of its text. But we have a big double meaning here, because "Du has(s)t mich" can be translated into "you have me" or into "you hate me". It explores the detriments of marriage, and the developing separation and resentment drawn from a long-term relationship.

Bonus:

Bismarck by Sabaton – Sorry but I won’t argue about it, he does love that one! So I just needed to put it onto the list. If you don't know Sabaton, they make really cool power metal inspired by actual historical war victories, heroes and soldiers.

@askganondorftobadragmire asked a question ... What do they commonly misinterpret because of their own upbringing / environment / biases? How do they respond when realizing the misunderstanding? ( still accepting ! )

*slaps the Hero of Time* this boy got so many misinterpretations but I'm gonna keep it brief here.

Probably the biggest one was the realization that no one outside the forest knew who the Great Deku Tree was. Not only was he Link's father, he was what Link would later describe as a god. ( Probably after he heard zoras calling Lord Jabu-Jabu, a similar being, their 'patron deity' ) Because of this he finds the worshipping aspect of most other species in Hyrule to be very strange. To him, god is simply your parent. This misunderstanding of godhood and parenthood changed when he himself became a father... a decade and a half later. He was never one to worship in a temple, and finds himself estranged from the seemingly all-powerful Golden Goddesses and Goddess of Time in a way he isn't with more nature-based gods.

There are also some cultural ones. Growing up in what was essentially a commune ( yeah they had a store but shush ) he had little idea about money being practically what ran the world. That was quite the shock when he tried to get food for the first time after leaving the forest... he was forced to quickly adjust to this new world he found himself in, otherwise he'd starve. He also found it odd initially that people didn't bathe together, but after returning from the future and especially after he returned from Termina, he found himself preferring privacy. There were often times he'd wish things would be simpler, like it was in Kokiri Forest, but those thoughts only lead to pain.

Finally for this post is his misinterpretation of the voice of the goddess. For those unaware, the Link to the Past manual claims that Hylians have pointed ears to hear the voice of the gods. ( It's on page 4 of the manual if you wanna check for yourself ) Since there aren't many omnipotent gods in the rest of Zelda lore, I change it to be the voice of the goddesses. Which goddess speaks to the Hero of Time? I unno I like it being mysterious. I could see it being either the Goddess of Time, Farore, or Hylia. During his adventures, it would steer him on the right path and keep his spirits up, but also give cryptic warnings about his fate. It spoke like a whisper on the wind, quiet yet loud enough to be heard. For a long time he thought it was either him going crazy or the spirit of the forest ( it couldn't be the Great Deku Tree, his voice was masculine and this was a feminine voice. ). Upon returning to Hyrule, he spoke to a priestess in the Temple of Time who told him that Hylians could hear the voice of the goddesses, but only if they were 'very good'. As Link grew older, he heard the voice less and less. He would often wonder if he was no longer 'good' enough to hear her voice.

Sword gays showdown preliminaries

Propaganda:

For Kazuma Asogi:

ok so he’s not CANONICALLY queer but it’s ace attorney. so… he does, however, canonically have a katana! a sword so integral to the plot it gives me shivers just thinking about it. the sword also has a name, it’s karuma (translates roughly to karma) and it gets passed onto the main character, ryunosuke naruhodo (who he calls partner), after kazuma (spoiler alert) dies in case 1-2. except (SUPER spoiler alert!) he isn’t dead! he comes back in case 2-3 and would you look at that he has ANOTHER SWORD, a more european sword (cause he ended up in england after his amnesia brain said he REALLY had to go to england). once he gets his memories back, ryunosuke gives karuma back to him and proceeds to use it to destroy the wax figure of his dead presumed serial killer dad (long story), and now he has, you guessed it, TWO SWORDS! for the next two cases he wears both swords at his sides, and also he broke the tip off of karuma attempting to murder someone (he didn’t actually murder anyone but still) and then turns out karuma’s hilt has the REAL serial killer’s will in it. very VERY important sword. in the end, kazuma gives karuma back to ryunosuke which is really symbolic but that’s besides the point, and they cross swords and it’s a whole big thing. 10/10 gay sword guy.

For Raiden:

Man catches knives with his heels and uses a sword to cut through robots 20 times his size

He's such a tragic character! Raised to be a super soldier from birth and is constantly being exploited by the government. As for the lgbt part him and his rival in the latest game he's in have so much tension it's unreal (gay). I headcanon him as trans too because he has a feminine figure, his voice gets more masculine as the series goes on (testosterone) and his entire body gets replaced with cybernetics (trans allegory...)

For Claudine Saijou:

Fights with a longsword! Should be number 1 for this line alone: “For heroes, there are trials. For saints, there are temptations. For me, there is you”, said to def not her girl crush but rival btw (stream Revue of Soul) Vote for my disaster theatre kid its what she deserves!

Her gay levels are off the charts. She has a homoerotic rivalry with another classmate (Maya Tendo/Tendou Maya) that is integral to her character, as she was always first until she met Maya. She’s also half-French, but that’ll be important later. When she’s looking at pictures of Maya stretching (to study her form of course) and another character asks her what she’s looking at, she panics, blushes, and says none of your business. Her and Maya have a heartfelt conversation while stretching with Claudine’s face pressed into Maya’s chest (between her stomach and breasts). Some art from a magazine has Maya pushing Claudine into a deep stretch, but it looks like something a lot different (Claudine blushing doesn’t help. Also I realized that there’s a lot of gay stuff related to stretching with these two).

During a two on two duel (I know it’s not a duel), they fight together. Not only that, but at one point they hold hands and take a pose typical of romantic partners in dancing. For no reason. They just pause and do it to show off. They aren’t even fighting. Anyways, when they lose, Claudine starts crying, not because she lost, but because Maya lost. So, of course, Maya starts speaking to her in French, with one of the things she says being “You’re cute even when you cry, my Claudine.” All of this is stuff that’s happened in the series (except the magazine thing).

Now for the gay stuff in the movie. Their duel with each other is so dense with sapphic undertones they can hardly be called undertones. For starters, the song that accompanies this revue is called “A Beautiful Person, or Perhaps it is.” While this title is incomplete, the director states that he wanted the watcher to fill it in and this removed the end of the original title. That title is “A Beautiful Person, or Perhaps it is a Love Song.” The duel is framed as a fight between a hero (Maya) and a devil (Claudine). Maya is in an outfit reminiscent of Renaissance Italy and Claudine is in a suit. Thus, Maya signs a contract giving her soul over to Claudine, as is the case with marriage. With her own blood, in the shape of Position Zero (an important symbol in the show), which happens to look like a T, for Tendou. After a few minutes of fighting, Maya disappears and monologues, appearing in a white dress. This means that Maya has signed her soul over to Claudine, and they are now both wearing a white dress and suit. Not beating the gay marriage allegations. Maya finished her monologue with “For heroes, there are trials. For saints, there are temptations. For me, there is a devil.” They continue to fight, Maya proclaiming herself emotionless and empty. Maya then cuts the medallion from Claudine’s chest (they wear medallions and you lose the duel if it gets cut off).

Claudine falls. Maya attempts to claim victory by stabbing her sword into Position Zero, which is then covered by steel doors. Claudine sits up and reveals she has another medallion in her mouth, which she does by sticking out her tongue in a uhhhh. Anyways, after a bit of back and forth, Claudine tells Maya that she’s full of arrogance and pride and envy and longing. She then says that “No matter how many times I die, I will revive! Tendou Maya! To beat you, my rival, into submission!” She then makes her stage entrance, taking Maya’s usual entrance speech and mocking it. She also says “I fill myself with exploding passion, now, and bash it into your heart!” After some talking, Maya makes her stage entrance, taking Claudine’s usual entrance speech and mocking it. Up until now, they have been playing characters, but still letting their own emotions shine through. Now, they are entirely themselves.

They begin to fight again, running downs white aisle before clashing swords, with Maya saying “Such an ugly, emotion drenched appearance-“ and is cut off by Claudine, who says “Show me more, Tendou Maya! Right now, you’re the cutest you’ve ever been!” To which Maya responds “I’m always cute!” The song starts up again (duels are accompanied by songs), with Maya singing “With a grin of deception I’ll tear this piece of cloth.” Deception in Japanese is mayakashi, a reference to Maya’s name. Maya then sings “I want to show you my feelings becoming dyed in black.” Black is Kuro in Japanese. Claudine, in Katakana, is Kurodine, with her nickname being Kuro, so that line could also be interpreted “I want to show you my feelings becoming dyed in you.” Claudine then sings “Only me, always, forever,” before they sing in unison “You only need to look at me,” as they lock blades. Some fighting happens and they’re falling through the sky, holding onto each others clothes and Claudine says “Only I can make you lay everything bare!” To which Maya responds “I’ll expose my everything, on the stage!” Claudine shoots back with “There’s a partner you can expose everything to, on the stage!” At this point, there’s a short time with independent vocals for Maya and Claudine in addition to their talking. Maya has been singing “If I’m on the stage, if I’m in front of you,” for the last two lines of dialogue. Claudine sings “Be it ugly or beautiful,” as Maya sings “I will expose, anything and everything, all of me, all of me.” As this happens, Maya is saying “We love the stage,” which is continued by Claudine saying “And we can’t part from the stage!” Maya calls them both “Pathetic clowns!” To which Claudine corrects “No, rivals!” Maya says “If you’re there, I have to strive higher!” Claudine says “You make me even more beautiful! Maya!” Maya then yells “Claudine!” Claudine yells “For heroes, there are trials!” Maya continues “For saints, there are temptations!” Then, as one, their swords crossed, faces inches from each other, yell “For me, there is you!” Over top of this, their voices sing a line in unison: “Forever and ever, I’d like to cross swords with you.”

Claudine’s sword stabs through the contract, through the Position Zero in blood, which may be Maya’s family name, and Maya says as an aside “Saijou Claudine… You are beautiful.” Claudine cuts the medallion from Maya’s chest, finally beating her rival.

- izuku is a really clumsy eater. he continuously drops soups on himself and chokes on his food. after noticing this about him you had to resort to helping him eat every so often. just to make sure he doesn't hurt himself too badly. also, he shoves too much food in his mouth at once, making his cheeks puff out as he struggles to chew.

- izuku is out of his head when you're not around. he needs to be beside you 24/7 or he begins to get paranoid. when you tell him you're not going anywhere, and that you're always nearby he will definitely cry a little. he just loves the idea of you both being inseparable.

- there are several times where izuku feels as if he isn't good enough to be at UA, or even to be a hero. so sometimes out of nowhere, you see him show up at your dorm with glossy eyes and tear stained cheeks asking you if you'd still love him if he didn't become a hero. you ended up holding him for the rest of the day and reassuring him you'll love him endlessly.

- he often goes on hour long rants about things that interest him, but after he notices how long hes been talking he'll profusely apologise. however, if you tell him to keep going and that you like listening to him talk, his eyes will just sparkle and he'll quickly nod and continue his rant.

- you both enjoy listening to music together so you proceed to play extremely loud music in his dorm all night. izuku loses himself to the music so if you play a song he really likes, you'll see him, eyes shut, giggling and jumping up and down, shaking his hair from side to side to the rhythm. when you cheer him on, he feels so confident he could cry.
