"something wrong?"

"yes," you hesitate, answering almost bluntly in a way that would make you regret your decision, but it's satoru, and this wouldn't be the worst thing he's heard from you. so you tell him how your financial aid won't work by the time you're 24 and you'll need to do something by 26 for your healthcare. your PhD program would take you 5 years, so affording tuition would be nearly impossible unless...

"just marry me," satoru says, words enough to make your eyes pop out as the man shrugs, leaning against your counter. "you want the benefits and my family's rich so you can continue school without a problem." this felt too good to be true.

"and what about you?" you ask, wanting to know what satoru could possibly get out of this. he grins, resting the popcorn bowl against his abdomen before placing it on the counter.

"the old man's been nagging me to find a wife. can't really find someone to just randomly marry, and you seem to fit the description. we're already friends, you need the financial benefit, and I get my dad's ass off my back. what could possibly go wrong with 5 years of marriage?"
