Flufftober 21 - Baby Michael
Baby Michael Langdon x reader (none romantic)
"Mommy. Mommy ! Mooooooooooommy !"
"Baby... Please, it's still very early, get some more sleep."
"But mommy !!! You promised, you promised !"
"I promised... Oh. Yes, that's true."
They had a week left to prepare, and Y/N was sure that Michael was going to choose the exact same costume as in previous years, the little ghost.
He liked that no one could really see him, not judging his age and telling him how adorable he was with his blond curls and blue eyes. He also found it amusing to add an accessory, a witch hat, blood, demon horns, to say that he was not just a ghost.
They never passed in front the Murder House when they were candy hunting. Even though Michael had a few friends in the house and he missed them a bit, he had promised Ben not to come near anymore, because it wasn't good for him. But he liked to be able to say that he was a bit like them for one night, a friendly ghost.
Although it seemed obvious that there would be no changes this year, Y/N had promised to take him to a costume shop so that he could do a parade and choose what wanted to be.
It could have been quick, but Michael considered this choice to be of the utmost importance, he knew he sometimes took a little time to make decisions, so he calculated that he would need at least a day to try on all the costumes he liked and find the one he liked the best.
"Mommy, mommy, mommy !" he repeated, jumping on the bed until Y/N finally got up. "The store is already open ! The best costumes are going to be bought ! Quick, quick !"
"I'm coming, I'm coming. Just let me have a coffee and get dressed."
"Quiiiiiiick !"
"You haven't even had breakfast, Mikey. I promise you the best costumes will still be here."
"Mummy !"
After successfully putting some bread with jam and a glass of milk in Michael's mouth, and convincing him that going out in his pajamas wasn't a good idea if he didn't want them to get sick, they took the car towards the store.
Totally excited, he continued to jump in his seat, smiling broadly and chanting 'Halloween, Halloween !'. It was truly one of his favourite holidays.
In truth, he loved all the holidays where he received gifts, hugs and food. So every holidays, really.
But being able to dress up added a certain magic.
"Mikey, don't run. Give me your hand, the parking lot can be dangerous."
"Yes, mommy, sorry."
When they entered the store, everything was just like the last time they had been there, which seemed to reassure and annoy Michael. He wasn't going to get lost, but he wouldn't find anything new.
As Y/N greeted the salesman, he began to observe the costumes, but unlike the last times, he completely ignored the ghost costume, to focus on less conventional characters, like the Joker, Gomez Addams, Mario or Woody.
It wasn't a bad idea, but Y/N was still surprised.
"Do you want to have the best suit on the whole street ?" she asked teasingly, knowing he really didn't like strangers staring at him.
"No. I want us to have matching costumes."
"Matching costumes ? Oh. Mikey, you know that I don't dress up. I'm going with you, but..."
"Mommy !" he begged her with his big eyes. "Please ! This will be fun ! Please !"
Although she considered it mostly something couples did, there were also times when parents would dress up to match their children.
If some people had the wrong idea about them, it didn't bother her at all. Y/N didn't care what people thought. Michael was her baby, she loved him more than anything and she just wanted him to be happy.
So, even if she didn't like attracting attention either, and she was a little afraid of being cold outside, she sighed before accepting.
First she had to calm Michael who was jumping and shouting with joy in the store, then they searched for the perfect costumes.
"It has to be a little scary, but above all it has to represent us well !"
"Because we're a little scary ?"
"No, mommy, you're silly. Although you're a little scary sometimes when I do something bad and you punish me. But it's not often, and I know I deserve it if I'm naughty."
"You're adorable, darling. Well, do you have any ideas ?"
Michael had lots of ideas, way too many ideas, and in the end he really didn't know what to choose. He turned to his mommy to silently ask for help, being unable to choose.
"Hmm. I could be Darth Vader and you would be Luke. Pfff, I'm your father."
"That's wrong, you're my mommy."
"Pfff, I'm your mom."
"I don't want you to be Darth Vader. Luke kills him at the end, I don't like it !" Michael pouted.
He turned down The Incredibles (he hadn't seen the movie yet), Finding Nemo (he didn't want to get lost), Pokemon ('Mommy, I'm not a Pikachu !'), Peter Pan (he didn't like Peter, whom he thought was a bit naughty), as well as all the other proposals.
They had been looking for several hours now and Y/N was beginning to despair when she found two costumes that seemed perfect to her.
"I'm Batman !" she said proudly with a big voice. "Where is my dear trusty Robin ? I can't fight crime without my Robin ! He's my only family, we do everything together !"
"... I'm here, Batmommy ! Ready to fight the bad guys !"
"Perfect ! And when they're in prison, we'll go back to Bathouse to eat Batcandies in front of Batelevision !"
"Yeah ! You're the best, Batmommy !"
When the salesman suggested they could get a Batgirl costume for Y/N, Michael stuck his tongue out at him.
Batgirl was cool, but she didn't have the same relationship with Robin. And if Michael had been Batman, it wouldn't have made sense.
It was Y/N who was Batman!
She laughed, apologizing to the salesman for her little Mikey's childish attitude, and they went home to get the Halloween decorations ready, getting everything but the basket of candy they would leave outside the door for the big one. evening, because Y/N had not bought them in advance, knowing that Michael would have eaten them all.
