hi guys. i hate coming on here with bad news since tumblr is supposed to be my (and our) safe space. but for the past two hours, i have been emailing and messaging 20+ people rescheduling and canceling meetings because i recently received news of a family emergency. i have never been more shaken and terrified in my life, and i am skipping dozens of classes and meetings to fly back home to support my family early morning today. this means that there is no update this friday. i do not have the mental capacity to edit or write this week. i’m sorry. i know you guys have been waiting for this. once things settle down again, i’ll let you guys know and post ch. 30 of LOD.

Chana was the mother of the famous prophet Shmuel. She struggled with fertility, and was taunted by her husband's other wife for this. She went to pray to Hashem in the Mishkan, and composed a silent, pleading prayer. Eli the High Priest saw her, and at first thought she was drunk because she was praying without moving her lips, which wasn't the norm at the time. However, she wasn't drunk, and asserted this to Eli. He apologized and promised her that her requests would be answered, and within the next year she had a son, who she dedicated to Hashem by committing him to be a Nazir and serve in the Mishkan. He would become a great prophet who would anoint both King Shaul and King David.

It is because of Chana's original silent prayer that every day, at least three times a day, we have a silent prayer in the form of Sh'moneh Esrei.

We begin the Sh'moneh Esrei by asking Hashem for help to let our words flow, and it's something that's really meaningful to me for when I have trouble finding my own words.

If Chana is Shallan’s mother, there’s a good chance that her death is what brought Hoid to Roshar.

Hoid has made it clear that his primary objective on Roshar is keeping Rayse contained in the system, and with Taln on Braize he cannot escape - so it’s unlikely that Hoid would be particularly focused on the planet whilst it has reached an equilibrium.

But, if Shallan killed Chana, she would return to Braize, which would kickstart the Desolations again if she broke. (And, as we know, every Herald aside from Taln broke at some point.) Roshar is dangerous again - so Hoid ‘going where he is needed’ could lead him back to Roshar to prevent Odium from escaping.

This could also have something to do with Hoid being drawn to Shallan’s family and to Shallan herself by taking Helaran’s message to his father. He’s visibly shocked to see her (which is hinted to be a result of Shallan being a Radiant, but could also be a hint to her being unknowingly responsible for the precarious state of Odium’s captivity).

hi guys,

i’m so sorry for dropping off the face of the earth. lately, i haven’t had the time to write due to club recruitment and courses and internship recruitment as well. i am writing this as i am walking to class because i genuinely do not have time to even eat or sleep, let alone enjoy my hobbies :(

i can’t bring myself to write after sleeping 3 hours a day. technically, i do have the next chapter written, but it is a rough draft—and i mean a ROUGH draft. i never want to post something that would disappoint me or potentially you guys, so it’s going to be a few weeks before the next update. as in october. or later.

i don’t talk about my personal life much on here because i want people to read my work with as little bias about me as possible, but it’s been busy. like so busy that i am at home just for the 3 hours of sleep i get kind of busy 😭 i didn’t expect this at all, so i apologize for the oversight and keeping you all waiting. but i’ll see you again in a few months (or circas ❤️)! i promise :))

How many characters have you made simply because you watched a show or played a game and you latched onto it and made that character based off that specific piece of media you character hoarding dragon

you already know most the answers anyway bub HOWEVER i wil give a run down because jokes on yall, every character i have is a messed up amalgam of characters from other things. if i fuse enough and twist them around enough nobody will know (unless you do this, thus exposing yourself)

also nobody read into these too much, these were just starting points for these characters!

Tobii - toshiro hitsugaya (bleach) and hiei (yu yu hakusho) are his main inspirations, and its a joke (but real) that i split my boy Ryujin in 2 to make Tobii and Kyuugo

Karnchana - rangiku matsumoto (bleach), and im actually seeing pieces of riza hawkeye and winry rockbell (fma) in her now as well!

Asashi - zenitsu agatsuma (kny) and somehow kira izuru (bleach), if his general aura and design werent obvious lol

Kyuugo - kaigaku (kny) was his biggest influence, and ikkaku madarame (bleach) somehow got in there a bit? tho i see a lot of similarities with him and inuyasha (inuyasha) actually! also Ryu as said before

Grandmaster - DESIGN WISE hes a mesh of heihachi mishima (tekken), reinhardt (ovw), and ganondorf (tloz:tp), character wise its escaping me actually! i didnt have any conscious inspiration there that i can identify

misc ones that only half count are soona with some insp from sango (inuyasha), miyuki with some design elements from hiyori (bleach), and the white haired girls i wont name designs were inspired by the spider family (kny) and honestly i guess azula's trio (atla)

TOO MUCH BLEACH GOT IN HERE but its because i had the whole idea for my story BECAUSE of watching bleach, and then a resurgence when i watched kny shdjds, i cant help it

Chana locked in a room with herself would honest to god end up fighting with herself or the two of them would ignore each other’s presence. Both are too confused and weirded out by the situation. If it was a past version and herself, she’d probably offer questionable advice at some point between the arguing. For a future version and herself, she’d start asking questions about what’s going to happen. Honestly it’s just a shitshow overall.
