btd/tpof characters don't seem to have official birthdays so i wanna share my zodiac sign hcs
(i'm not an expert in astrology this is just for fun)
strade: sagittarius
this is a bit awkward to explain since i'm a sagittarius myself. i don't relate to him, but he definitely has to be a fire sign and this one seemed the most fitting out of the three. first of all sagittarians are considered lively, passionate, outgoing and charming - traits that i think fit strade's description. he's carefree and fun-loving i guess you could say, but also intelligent in a way, or at least has a good technical information. gato has mentioned that strade has a fear of being limited or locked up which goes well with the thing sagittarians have with their freedom.
lawrence: capricorn
now that is a capricorn man if i've ever seen one. they're described as critical, sensitive and cautious, struggling with letting people in. capricorns are happy being on their own and fall in love slowly, they have to take time to understand you at first. it's clear that lawrence doesn't trust people easily. to me it seems like he wants to be in control of things, too. on surface level, those antlers remind me of the symbolized mythological creature of capricornus and regardless of his love for plants, i associate lawrence with snowy forests instead of green. (capricorns are born december 22 - january 19)
ren: libra
i'm not only saying this because i tend to be head over heels for libras okay let me tell you something; libras are often extroverted and sweet. they avoid conflict which is why they tend to be people-pleasers and we know ren is one. even when he's older in tpof, you can kind of call him out for not making his own decisions, but instead relying on the chat's suggestions and opinions. maybe he struggles with making them himself... and what's the biggest libra stereotype again? yeah, exactly that. librans are ruled by venus, the goddess of love, so they adore beautiful things. of course he'd want to dress you up all pretty for the live streams <3
mason: taurus
i admit i haven't actually diven that deep into this character yet, but right off the bat he strikes me as an earth sign. taureans love to relax in serene, bucolic environments, which i guess you could call his cabin in the woods. they're also built for endurance and tasks requiring concentration and determination, traits that i assume must be helpful when hunting. mason comes off as resourceful and tough, just like taureans.
celia: virgo
my beloved celia... like virgos, she's hardworking and intelligent, but also uptight and easily frustrated. understandably so, imagine being married to a man when you could run away with me 🙄 anyway, they're also perfectionists at heart and she'd probably enjoy training you with diligent and consistent practice, you're her little mouse after all. oh, and virgo rules the digestive system. hand over those donuts, ma'am!
derek: leo
bet you thought i'd say scorpio because of his tattoo? nah, he has leo energy. he's confident - even arrogant - and fits the leo description of both luxury-loving and drama-loving. leos love to lead, be admired and receive praise and respect of others. i imagine derek's like that due to possible daddy issues. sorry to come for him like that. my opinion might be completely based due to growing up with a couple of brats from upper middle class families who happened to be leos.

BEHOLD! BOOKS I READ IN 2023!
A handful of rereads, a lot of new favorites, and I put a huge dent in my physical unread piles! I'm pretty happy with my reading year to be honest!
BEST OF 2023
Nettle and Bone by T Kingfisher - If I haven't talked about it enough please read this. An absolute DELIGHTFUL start to the year, which is odd to say of a book about abusive spouses and dead sisters. Like. I wanted to reread it right after finishing it, and will probably reread it this coming year, I loved it so much
The Untethered Sky by Fonda Lee - also heart wrenching but listen, there are BIRDS! Giant birds!!!! A strange pick me up during a bad time, but it WORKED!
To Shape A Dragon's Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose - Oh what a marvelous read, a delightful adventure, I look forward to book two!
Provenance by Ann Leckie - don't hate me, but I think I might enjoy this more than the Imperial Radch trilogy. It's really what I wanted from A Memory Called Empire, and it was so much fun to see the Radchaai from a different perspective!
The Liar's Knot by MA Carrick - DEROSSI VARGO, MY BELOVED! But also, this has such rich worldbuilding. Every time there's a Pattern reading in a scene, the authors did their own reading in real life and put the results in the book. They came up with multiple calendars for the world. And it never feels overwhelming, everything is integrated so naturally! Ren heists an entire family for her and her sister. A lovely brick of a book :)
Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire - I think this might be my favorite Wayward Children book so far, I'm glad these books are bite sized because I want to read them over and over <3
The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie - WHAT A FUNKY LITTLE BOOK!
WORST OF 2023
Black Wings Beating by Alex London - birds would not fucking do that. Why are we following the most insufferable of the characters. Why is everything about him, even the parts about his sister. Blegh.
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo - this canNOT be the same book tumblr couldn't stop talking about for months. I know I shouldn't judge a book by its sequel, but I know about the glowing demon dick. Come on. Also, like, the whole book was building up to rescuing someone and then THEY NEVER DID! wtf lol
Tress and the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson - Snooze. Yawn. Snore. One of the most boring books I've read. I was right to avoid Mr Sandwich and his books.
Whalefall by Daniel Kraus - I feel bad because someone hyped this a lot and was excited about it, and so I was excited about it, but it read like it was written specifically for a movie in mind. It's just Daddy Issues™️in the ocean.
This does not include rereads, of which Name of the Wind was one. Yes, I still loved that one. Still fun, still weird that it never felt long despite being a BRICK. Proof I don't hate long books because they're long, I hate long books that don't have to be long. Which is why the Dishonorable mention goes to Priory of the Orange Tree lol Get edited, beloathed.
Anyway! Onwards to 2024! :)

Underrated Reylo Moments
Kylo Ren
He had reacted poorly to what had happened earlier, and that had been reflected in the Supreme Leader’s judgment. To add to the discomfort, that slimy sycophant Hux always seemed to appear at the most awkward possible moment.
He gritted his teeth, angry at himself. It was a measure of his current weakness that something like jealousy toward an insignificant simpleton like Hux could even enter his mind. It was nothing but a waste of physical energy and mental concentration. Hux—Hux was not worthy of such attention.
The girl, on the other hand…
Rey
Even as [Kylo] callously rifled through her mind, he had somehow revealed his own. Rey found herself in his mind even as he invaded hers. She felt his rage...But she also felt his hurt, and his loneliness. And his fear...Kylo had retreated at finding Rey in his head - had practically fled from her. But that had not been the end of that strange, sudden connection. She had seen more - far more...It was as if his training had become hers, unlocking and flinging open door after door in her mind...Kylo had urged her to let him be her teacher - had pleaded with her, almost.”
Rian Johnson
 I don't think that he's playing chess there. I think that this is something that he genuinely saw, and genuinely believes that because of this connection [they share], basically. It's less like, 'I can use this on her.' It's more, 'Oh my god, we have this in common, this is more of a kindred spirit that even she realizes.'" [...]It's a very naked, open, emotional appeal. It's his version of, 'I'm just a girl standing in front of a guy'...
Tumblr media
Kevin Smith (Filmmaker/Actor):
 "You can tell, he genuinely cares about her."
This is just the truth
"His relationship with Rey is one of equals, a constant tug of war and peace.[...] As they battle for each other’s hearts and minds."
Leia/Rey
Standing at the foot of the ramp, an uncertain and uneasy Leia found herself fiddling with the seals on the front of the jacket Rey was wearing. Foolish nonsense, she told herself even as she continued. Unworthy of her status and position. But it felt so right, and so natural, to be doing so.
“I’m proud of what you’re about to do,” she told the girl.
Rey replied in all seriousness. “But you’re also afraid. In sending me away, you’re—reminded.”
Leia straightened. “You won’t share the fate of our son.”
Script
Trepidation flashes across Rey's eyes......Kylo Ren nearly touches her face........ They're both surprised: they react to a feeling that passes between them. -- An energy they recognize in each other.
And then it's gone. Adversaries again.
Tumblr media
Rey/Kylo Ren
Tumblr media
Rey
"Let him think she'd given up--he'd soon discover otherwise. Jakku had trained her to do two things better than anyone else could. The first was to salvage broken things. The second was to wait."
Leia
“Ben as a toddler, forever following Han. Carrying the dice from the Millennium Falcon - the ones his father had used to win the beloved, battered freighter - and promising anyone who’d listen that one day he would be a pilot, too, like his daddy."
Tumblr media
Rey
“She had felt so alone, all those nights. But never as alone as she did staring at her own reflection, beneath the island in the cold and the dark. When the tears finally ebbed, Rey lifted her head. She knew who she had to talk to about the cave, about what she had sought and what it had shown her - someone who would understand how solitude and loss could eat away at you until there was nothing left.”
Kylo Ren
“Kylo Ren knew who was in the escape pod even before it opened with a hiss of vapor - her presence had been a steady pulse from the Force...”
JJ Abrams ('The Force Awakens' Co-Writer/Director)
"So the idea here is that Kylo Ren’s gotten inside of Rey’s head, sees that she has seen the map and is now letting go of the droid as his goal, and focusing just on her. And clearly you think, well he must be able to just extract the information he wants now. But because he’s taken her, you get a sense that there might be something else going on here."
Tumblr media
Rachael (JournaloftheStarWars.com)
"There is no mention of Snoke or even the Dark side – Kylo is intent only on Rey, and the offer he makes is an offer made between the two of them [...] his regard for and fascination with Rey win out over his duty to Snoke. He selfishly wants her to himself"
Matt Martin (LucasFilm)
"He actually spent a lot of time shirtless, just hoping for that connection to kick in." - think this is a bit cheeky
Michael Semanick
"Rian wanted the rain and fire to peel away as their hands were getting closer. Having a big sound there just didn’t have the intimacy that the scene demanded. It can be so hard to get the balance right to where the audience is feeling the same thing as the characters. I wanted the audience to lean in and feel those hands about to connect. When you take the sound out and the music out, then it’s just two hands coming together slowly. It was about finding that balance to make the audience feel like they’re in that moment, in that little hut, and they’re about to touch and see into each other’s souls, so to speak. That was a challenge, but it was fun because when you get it, and you see the audience react, everyone feels good about that scene."
Joanna Robinson (Vanity Fair)
"I can say no moment draws more audible gasps and applause than when Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren and Daisy Ridley’s Rey whirl around in brief slow-motion, stand back-to-back, and take on a room of their shared enemies together.
Tumblr media
DAISY RIDLEY
"I think he is redeemable. He does the right thing, in order to help her.
William Shakespeare, Jedi the Last
"Two bodies in a swift, majestic dance, Made for this fight, this moment, and this chance."

„DILFs I fell for during my ♥️ teen and young adult years“
Daddy issues? Yes.
1. Alan Rickman (as Severus Snape)
Tumblr media
I was like 11 when I got into Harry Potter and my obsession about A.R. focused mainly on Severus Snape. I swear he formed my character during puberty and my entire taste in man. I basically made an Harry Potter OC out of myself and made my entire personality like that Slytherin girl that has a secret romance with her potions teacher… and I made it everyone’s problem. Damn I was annoying
2. Benedict Cumberbatch (as Sherlock Holmes)
Tumblr media
I think I joined the BBC Sherlock fandom around the time season 2 dropped and fell so hard for Sherlock. I even when to the first Sherlocked CON in London only to be madly disappointed when I actually met him. I can’t describe it but as I walked into the photo area and stood right next to him I instantly knew I don’t like Him. Like we didn’t even speak much it was just an instand bad feeling that I still have many years later. At the time it felt like a very bad breakup.
3. Mark Gatiss (as Mycroft Holmes)
Tumblr media
Always liked his character in BBC Sherlock but I honestly fell in love the same day I lost Benedict. Coping mechanisms? Maybe. Idk.
3. Tom Hiddleston (as Loki)
Tumblr media
Honestly what does it say about me that I always fall for the bad guys? It got as far as me cutting my hair short and getting a ridiculously expensive cosplay. Still I’m only here for the older version of Loki. Honestly after Ragnarök everything went to hell and I don’t really enjoy anything that came from the MCU after that. Not even from my beloved god of mischief.
4. Adam Driver (as Kylo Ren)
Tumblr media
Look at this face and tell me you’re not in love. Isn’t he just the cutest? And don’t we Love a man that destroyes things when he’s angry?
5. Jared Harris (as Valery Legasov)
Tumblr media
Chernobyl somehow triggered something in me that I thought was long dead. It may be because of my families history in the Soviet Union.. I don’t know. But lemme tell you I haven’t produced fanart that excessive in quite a while.
6. Jin-Yi Han (as TalTal)
Tumblr media
(I had to make this gif myself because the fandom is f*cking dead) I swear I always join the party years to late. But Jin-Yi Han awoke a new love for Asian culture in me. I never had much interest for KDramas but honestly this one spoke to me. He became a comfort character.
Tumblr media
7. Charlies Dance (as Sardo Numspa)
The first time I saw him as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones I thought Damn Daddy please beat my ass… and the rest is history.
We can kinda see a patern here. Don’t we? (Mostly)Mean dudes with longer (dark) hair and anger management issues. Also I’m a slut for authority.
I’ve alway been an artistic person so I flooded the internet with fan art and sometimes fanfiction for all of my beloved characters.

Thoughts on Hess’ Comments
So I just saw this quote by Hess from an interview:
Hess replied: “I agree with you. He’s become Internet Boyfriend in a way that baffles me. Not that Matt isn’t incredibly charismatic and wonderful, and he’s incredible in the role. But Daemon himself is … I don’t want him to be my boyfriend! I’m a little baffled how they’re all, ‘Oh, daddy!’ And I’m just like: ‘Really?’ How — in what way — was he a good partner, father or brother — to anybody? You got me. He ain’t Paul Rudd. What do you think, Clare?”
Well Hess you are not the only one baffled here because I am baffled by this statement. It just doesn’t seem like she understands Daemon’s character at all, the whole point of Daemon’s character is that he is in equal measures good and bad. Yet Hess seems to only see the bad. There is this quote, which I believe is from the novella The Rogue Prince, that describes Daemon:
Over the centuries, House Targaryen has produced both great men and monsters. Prince Daemon was both. In his day there was not a man so admired, so beloved, and so reviled in all Westeros. He was made of light and darkness in equal parts. To some he was a hero, to others the blackest of villains.
I haven’t even read that book and even I am aware of this quote its such an integral part of what makes Daemon, Daemon. Anyone who has been part of a tv/book fandom knows that there is a certain appeal to morally grey and complex characters, I mean Loki from Marvel, Klaus and Damon from vampire diaries, Kylo Ren from star wars, The Darkling from Shadow and Bone and countless others, have all been very popular characters because they are interesting and complicated and that makes them entertaining to watch. The dark/morally grey characters being the most popular character in a show/book is a tale as old as time so I don’t understand why she would be surprised that Daemon is popular, its hardly a new phenomenon.
Now skirting over the fact that when fans call him ‘daddy daemon’ they are so not talking about his skills as a father or brother etc, what about that question she asked? ‘How - in what way- was he a good partner, father or brother- to anybody really?’ Now I am not going to sit here and argue that Daemon Targaryen is the perfect husband, father or brother, he’s not, but there are times when he is shown to be a good husband/father/brother and it has been made clear throughout the series that he loves his family. The bad things he does doesn’t erase the good.
So let’s start with when was he ever a good brother?
In ep 1 despite his later comments about ‘heir for a day’ he does genuinely feel bad for his brothers loss and grieves for his brother, his love for his brother and niece can be seen in that funeral scene and he does try comforting his brother’s daughter.
In ep 2 when Corlys insults Viserys Daemon stands up for him even though at that time he and Viserys had fallen out themselves.
In ep 4 he gives up his crown to his brother and recognises him as the true king, we also see him laughing with his brother in the garden and you can see genuine affection between them.
In ep 8 you can see how difficult it is for Daemon to see his brother suffering and in pain, he can barely look at him. He helps him with his milk of the poppy, there is also that moment when Daemon helps his brother to the throne and puts his crown back on his head, because despite their differences over the years in the end they are still brothers.
Yes there have been times when Daemon has been a terrible brother to Viserys but that doesn’t mean there aren’t times when he has been a good one too. So what about a good partner?
We don’t know much about his marriage with Laena and what we do see they are at odds because Laena wants to go home and Daemon wants to stay in Pentos. But we still see little moments of affection between them in ep 6. When he sees Laena approaching he smiles at her and moves the cushion so she could sit beside him. There is also that scene between Laena and Rhaena where Laena says Daemon is trying his best, which suggests that he does put effort into being a good husband and father. Also in ep 7 when asked if he loved Laena he does say that they were happy enough which suggests that they had a good marriage, we also see Laena being affectionate, tactile and comforting to Daemon, I don’t think Laena would have done this if he was a bad husband.
Most of what we see of him as a husband is with Rhaenyra and with her so far we have only ever seen him be supportive and affectionate towards her. He supports her with her plan for Laenor, when she says she wants to go to kings landing in ep 8 he supports her in that too. Whilst at King’s landing when Rhaenyra is anxious and upset at her father’s condition he takes her hand to give her comfort, he stands with her when confronting Alicent about Viserys condition and the removal of Targaryen heraldry, when Vaemond insults Rhaenyra and her sons he stands up for her, true its by taking a guys head off, but its still in defence of his partner. We see him joking and laughing with her at the dinner table and holding her hand there too. In fact there is nothing in ep 8 to suggest that Daemon is anything but a good husband to Rhaenyra.
Obviously he was a terrible husband to Rhea but there was mutual hate on both sides in that relationship and it was obvious that neither of them wanted to be married to the other, doesn’t excuse him murdering her but him being a bad husband to one doesn’t mean he can’t be a good husband to another, Hess says when was he a good partner to anybody, well he was a good partner to Rhaenyra throughout the whole of episode 8.
What of the last one though, was he ever a good father to anyone? Again yes we see him being a good father.
In ep 6 we see him teaching his daughter high valyrian, we see her kiss him on the cheek as she leaves showing that there is affection between them. We also see him stroking and kissing Laena’s belly showing affection to their unborn child too.
In ep 7 he helps defend Rhaenyra's sons from Cole and Alicent, standing protectively over them along with Rhaenyra and this is before he is even their step father.
In ep 8 we again see him defend his step sons against Vaemond and also breaks up the fight between Jace, Luke, Aemond and Aegon and stands in front of all of their children protectively. We see him stroking Rhaenyra’s belly, just like he did with Laena’s, again showing affection to his unborn child, not to mention he scaled a mountain, risking life and limb to collect dragon eggs for his kids. We also see him stroking baby Viserys’ hair when introducing him to his grandfather again showing that affection he has for his children. Both Daemon and Rhaenyra seem to have a good relationship with all of the kids.
What is particularly irritating about her saying that he was never a good father to anyone is that there is another instance in ep 6, an episode that Hess wrote for, where he comforts and hugs his daughters after the death of their mother and they DELETED IT! But then they released images of the deleted scene so we all know that it was written and filmed and it just made the audience upset that it was cut because it was a good opportunity to show that other side of Daemon, the softer side. If they really wanted us to dislike Daemon then it was a bad move releasing those images.
So yeah at times Daemon has been a terrible husband, and a terrible brother. When it comes to him being a father the only indication we get of him not being a good father is a passing comment made by a child that her father ignores her because she doesn’t have a dragon. But there have been instances that show Daemon can also be a good husband, brother and father particularly in the latter half the season where he seems to have matured somewhat. What makes Hess’ comments more absurd to me is she also defends Aegon r*ping Dyana and essentially says he didn’t know any better because he wasn’t taught consent, but like any idiot knows that stop and no means stop. You don’t need to be taught that. Are you trying to tell me that Aegon, a grown man, doesn’t know what the word stop means? Dyana tells Alicent I told him to stop, there is no excuse for Aegon he knew she didn’t want to and he did it anyway.
I know that Hess is only one writer and that there is alot of other people involved in the show and in building these characters, and no matter what Hess has said I do think for the most part Daemon has been a complex and nuanced character, whilst there are some choices that were made that I didn’t agree with, like deleting that scene with his daughters, overall I think his character has been well written and Matt’s acting has been incredible and the proof of this is in how popular the character is. But I do think Hess making these comments was a mistake and could become a problem and that’s because the ending of GOT left alot of the audience wary of this spin off show. One of the complaints alot of the audience had about GOT was they felt their favourite characters suffered from poor writing choices and were mischaracterised in later seasons, Jon became this one tone character whose only lines were ‘I don’t want it’ and ‘my queen’, Dany’s descent into madness happens way too quickly and suddenly and so seeing a writer mischaracterise a character this early will naturally make viewers, and fans of that particular character wary of continuing with the show because they don’t want to see their favourite character get butchered by bad writing.
I mean at least Clare’s answer was more diplomatic and seemed like she understood the character and the appeal of the character, she said:
I just love the fact that people are so involved with these characters, and I think that’s part of the fun of it. One minute you like someone and the next minute you like someone else. But I am not surprised. Matt is such a risk taker in his performances and he’s got that little smile, and you know... you can’t help it! He is charismatic. People love a baddie. But I don’t think he’s particularly a good father or brother.
 I think the difference between what Hess says and what Clare does is that it seems like Hess is criticising the audience for liking the character whereas Clare understands that its more nuanced than that and she sees it as a positive thing that people are engaging with these characters.
The last thing I want to talk about is this part where Hess says:
Fan’s view of Daemon might be challenged again by Sunday’s finale, as well as in season two, which is expected sometime in 2024.
“We’ll see a different side of him.” Hess said of the finale. “And right now we are writing season two and figuring out, what is the nature of his relationship with Rhaenyra? There are many interpretations (in Fire and Blood) to that.”
Firstly the part about what is the nature of his relationship with Rhaenyra has me a bit like ??? I could understand if she was saying this about their earlier relationship in like eps 1-5 but by this point they have now been married for 6 years, clearly happily, and seem very in love plus between them are taking care of 7 kids, 2 of which they have together with a third on the way. Maybe its just me but I feel like they’ve made it clear at this point what the nature of their relationship is, I’m not really sure what is left for interpretation at this point. And yes I know relationships can change as things around a couple do but my worry here is that they’ve spent alot of time in season 1 building this couple up and they seem to be presented as the main romance of the show, if they change the dynamic too much in season 2 I think its going to give the audience a bit of a whiplash effect and I just don’t see it going down well. It all depends on how it is written I suppose but this statement, like most of what Hess said, well its left me baffled.
However the part about how Daemon will challenge fan’s view of him in the finale and season 2 I am not really upset about, actually good. I hope he does. In fact its what I am expecting of all of the characters going forward from here. Now that we’ve reached the dance itself I am expecting to see the characters making choices that I don’t agree with and that are dark, this character does something to this character and then that character seeks revenge by doing something to that character. I am expecting it to be a utter mess, a bloody, gruesome mess because at the end of the day war is ugly and few of these characters are saints. I didn’t come into this show expecting squeaky clean characters who have never done anything wrong in their lives. Anyway think I am done ranting for now. At the end of the day I don’t think anyone should be too worried about Hess’ comments as there are too many other people involved in the project for her to influence it alone and many of the other writers and producers seem to have a different view from her, its not great but I think ultimately only time is going to tell, Daemon could continue to be a fascinating and complex character that is neither good nor bad or they could totally butcher his character, but we won’t know until we see it. Also maybe in a way it was good that she made those comments now whilst they are still writing Season 2 because I would suspect that those involved with the show will see the negative response to her comments and one would hope do something about it and listen to its audience.

now see my problems with geats come from the fact that the writing is bad. it's trying to deconstruct rider tropes without actually deconstructing them; it's failing to make the characters sympathetic when by all means they should be (especially where buffa is concerned; i love that archetype in my rider boys — kumon kaito and hiiro and ren are some of my favorites for a reason — but not once had buffa made me feel like they do); it did a 180 as far as its treatment of female characters is concerned (neon's storyline and development coming because of kyuun; ace's mother basically being a macguffin, and then the fact that they cast an actress younger than hideyoshi kan to play her; pretty much everything regarding tsumuri re: becoming the next goddess of creation; perhaps most egregiously considering that it's 2023, sara getting fridged for the sake of keiwa's development — and by the way you can't portray a character who wants to fridge sara as evil, and then fridge her anyway). the character focus and balance is also messed up — even during the arc of drive that is literally just about shin's daddy issues, there's still plenty of excellent stuff for gou, chase, and kiriko. (of course now "why is geats so ace focused" has probably ruined that kind of criticism forever, unfortunately.)
what's more is that it feels like people who love geats (and you can if you want! all the better to you for still being able to enjoy it! i truly and sincerely wish that was me because i want to enjoy things) will not accept any criticism of the show. mad about how badly keiwa got sidelined? oh, you're just a sad shipper. upset about buffa's actions? you just can't handle moral ambiguity. not only are both of these things untrue (at least in my case — rider is not all about ships for me, and i love morally ambiguous characters when they're done right — kumon kaito! heart! gou is objectively heroic sure but as a black fan of kamen rider a lot of his actions make me uncomfortable so that also is an example!) but they're so obviously just excuses used to deflect, and it's frustrating. say what you want about my beloved revice, for example, and i'll... probably agree with you. revice is not a perfect series. neither is gaim and neither is ex-aid. i'm incredibly passionate about all three of these seasons, and if you come to me with criticisms of them i'll hear you out and listen, regardless of if i agree or disagree. most fans of these seasons are the same.
i'm tired of geats being a sacred cow. i'm tired of being told that i'm "treating the characters like they're real people" or "unable to watch anything but kid's shows" when i point out actually bad writing. and i'm sick of my friends getting criticized when they do the same. i don't know why geats has attracted this kind of fan but it's incredibly upsetting and i'm tired of it.

 "Mommy," Monika tugged on her mother's sleeve. "Let's go. I don't want to be here any'ore."
 She was so bored just standing there. For a five year old girl, it felt like an eternity as the two adults above her talked about.. well, whatever adults talked about.
 Her mother sighed, "you can go play, darling, but I need to speak with Sir Winston-"
 Monika pouted, fighting the urge to stomp her foot to voice her displeasure. "It's probably dangerous outside, 'nd I don't like this stupid, smelly-"
 "Monika!" Her mother gasped, "you know better than to be like that. We're guests, darling."
 Her beloved mother knelt down to her level, and said softly, "I promise nobody's gonna hurt you. Just go and play, I'll be right here."
 Monika stood there, mumbling to herself, before she huffed out, "I hate you, Mommy!" and left with her arms crossed.
 (In doing so, she missed the look of despair that crossed her mother's face when she heard those words.)
 There was nobody else there - just her, alone. Well, there was a pretty fountain. Monika gazed at herself in the waters, from her plump, pink cheeks to her newest sunset-colored gown, and finally, her round golden eyes.
 There was something in her reflection, though. It appeared to be a ball of blue light, of some sorts. Monika always liked shiny things like that, so she balled her hands into fists, and attempted to grab the light, but it only fizzled away, and reincarnated into another, except this time it was pink light, right over her head.
 Monika giggled, attempting to grab it again. This went on - the light always changing colors every time - for around twenty minutes, when she heard a small laugh.
 She whirled around, "who's there?!"
 Like magic, a tall, slender man who had the bluest eyes Monika's ever seen appeared. He was wearing a completely black cloak, which had emeralds - Monika's favorite gem - engraved on his left breast-pocket.
 "I am Lord Lurine," the man opened his arms dramatically, a sly smirk on his face.
 "Lord Urine?" Monika wondered out loud. He was so tall, she had to look up, but did not notice the way his eyes sharpened. "I've never heard of that before."
 "Luh-Ren, it's pronounced, but since you're young, I won't hold it against you, dear," he said, and Monika took a step back.
 "My mommy says not to talk to strangers," she remarked.
 "Well, I'm not a stranger, am I? We were having plenty fun earlier." He asked, before going on. "Do you want to know the reason I came, though I?"
 Monika shook her head. She didn't trust weird strangers, even if they had cool magic and…
 "Are you sure?" He made an expression that resembled her pouting earlier, "you might regret it if you don't listen now."
 Regret - Monika didn't like that emotion. It made her both angry, and sad. It made her wonder what could've happened if she did something else.
 Slowly, she brought her head into a steady up-down motion.
 "Your father is sick." He whispered, like it was a secret only for her ears. "I know how to make him better, and without my potion, he will die a painful, slow death."
 Hearing those words, Monika's heart fell down to the diamond-encrusted slip-ons she was wearing.
 He paused, "isn't that so very sad?"
 Monika felt a panic she'd never felt before. It was like she was dying, her breath raggad, her posture stiff and slow to move.
 She only experienced death once before; when her grandfather died, leaving the crown to her family.
 But it still wasn't happy in the slight, no, there were screams and sobs and it's all your fault's-
 "All you have to do is come with me, and your father will be just fine," his grip was tightening.
 "Ok-okay," she stuttered for the first time in her life. This was her father he was talking about; her daddy who she loved so, so, so much.
 "Great, dear, I knew you weren't the selfish type." He grinned from ear to ear, "now, let's get you out of this dangerous, smelly kingdom. I've got a much better place for you, Monnie."
 Monika tried to be brave, and she glared at his stupid, ugly face. "I'll come with you, but you better give 'm dad his potion."
 "Don't worry," he soothed, "I'm an honest man - sometimes."
 Monika did not say another word as she was pulled away from her mother, fighting the want to cry out for somebody to hear her.
 (He couldn't be that bad, could he? Maybe he'd be like Gus, the chef who still cut her sandwiches the way she liked them. Maybe he wouldn't hurt her.)
 "After all," Lord Lurine ran his fingers through his thinning blonde hair, a blue-lit portal in front of the both of them, "what's a wizard without his familiar?"

Yang looked back, raised an eyebrow, then rolled her eyes while smiling, cleared her throat and-
"Oh DADDY! PLEASE daddy FUCK this little cockslut BITCH until she SCREAMS for MERCY!" She pushed back, not enough to get Ren's dick in, that'd ruin the fun. "Just screw this little fucktoy until you fill my womb with kids! Fuck me raw Ren. Fuck me RAW RENATUS!"
-----
He wrapped her beloved blonde hair around his fist and roughly jerked her head back.
"I think you're just telling me what I want to hear." Renatus cooed, rubbing his dick back and forth. He was practically fucking her thighs. "So over the top... so perfectly tailored to me. Mmm, no, Yang. I want you to mean it. From deep in your heart... if you want me deep inside you."
To emphasize his point, he gave her ass a loud, echoing slap. The water on her skin rippled and bounced.
"Tell me what you want. And beg for it."

"Daddy daddy you're here!" the blonde kid says running towards her father, "Princess!" the bonten executive says kneeling down and taking her into his arms, "Let's go, the teacher wants to talk with you" the babbling child says pointing to young teacher, "This is Haruka Sensei" the child says, "Thanks for taking care of Ayame" Sanzu says seriously and shaking his hand with hers, languid eyes stare towards his scars and Sanzu suddenly shoves a menacing look towards her who's still keeping his hand "Mr Sanzu, your daughter is causing some troubles to her classmates, can we talk privately about this problem?" the teacher says trying to near him and make him uncomfortable, "Whatever you have to tell about my daughter's behaviour you fuckin tell it here in front of everyone, how long's it been? Did you talk with my wife?" the girl blushes and avoiding his gaze, she says "Well it's not that simple, people are afraid by your appearance and Ayame seem to get an aggressive attitude towards them, but we don't think it's your fault, I actually thought we could work on it together, after school" "We could work on it together" Sanzu mockingly repeats and continues "Do you fuckin think to get hit on m-?" "LANGUAGE DAD!" the little girl says interrupting her father "Speak properly unless you don't want mommy to discover that the teacher likes you!" wide eyes from the teacher and Sanzu smirks to his young carbon copy, "You're right princess, let's go mommy is waiting for us, movie night and candies for you!" he says turning back to the speechless teacher who can't even say goodbye.
"HARUKA SENSEI LIKES DADDY!" your daughter screams as soon she enters the house with Sanzu, a smirk on his face and looking at him you say "And what did daddy do?" "He said mean words, turned back and said that he wanted to come home and watch movie all together!" the girl says running around, "Haru you have to explain later!" you say while kissing one of his scar, "Don't worry babygirl, no problem in distance after tonight!" he says smiling and kissing your lips.

"It's true Keiko, we have lot of animals the cute ones but even the exotic ones, they come from afar!" he says tryin to give a kid explanation about the fauna of the shop, "I really need a cat in my life, perhaps you could help me choosin one" the teacher says caressing his arm, "Daddy manage orders and money! It's uncle Kazutora, that works with the clients!" Keiko shouts feeling endangered by sudden confidence from the teacher.
"DADDY LOVES MOMMY" Keiko cries as soon as your daughter sees you entering the car, "Eh?" you turn looking at Chifuyu, "Sensei has been mean touchin daddy, but he looked at the cat photos all the time so he has been good!" she says with a pout "Keiko dear, of course we love each other, don't worry about other people because as long as daddy cares of us, nothing is going to divide us!" you say while lookin to your husband who smiles and says an I love my princess while putting his hand on your swollen belly.
Tumblr media
"Goodmorning Ms. Kato, where's Ren?" Ran says looking towards the crowd of toddlers playing all together, pointing to her Ran eyes wide as soon as he sees a woman touchin and bothering his daughter, "What do you think you're doing with my daughter, miss?" Ran says adjusting his braids and looking to the woman with his mischevious smile "Mrs, not Miss" she corrects "Then I have to believe that your significant other is waiting at home, you and your kid" he replies, "We could organize a play date, my son seems to enjoy her company. She's beautiful, just like her father!" "DAADAA HAS MAMAA" Ren shouts clinging to her father, fat tears pouring down her smooth cheeks, "I know water lily don't worry, daddy loves mama" he emphasizes the last part looking to the woman who suddenly blush and leaves his daughter, to finally be held by her dear father, "Shhh shhh water lily calm down" he says bouncing her to alt her cries, the wails pursued until they got home and seeing her watery eyes, you look confused to Ran, it wasn't normal to see your daughter crying since she loves to be held by her father, "Shhh, water lily got worried cause a mean mama tried to hit on daddy" with a smile you kiss your daugther's crown and say "Awww, don't worry Ren mama loves daddy so so much" your daughter turns and says "W-weally?" she says with tender voice, "Of course lily don't worry! See daddy loves mama so so much and mama loves him even more" you say and Ran smiling give you a kiss on your lips and then snuggle his nose with his daughter who laughs and say "I love you and your mom more than your little brain could image, don't worry about it sweetheart" "Love you too dada".

Princess tutu fandom time
Always lol
Oh Princess Tutu my beloved...
The first character I first fell in love with:
Tumblr media
Look at her. Just. Look. At. HER. The perfect protagonist, a disaster child of therapy and chaos, a duck turned human. An angel. Ahiru.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
Rue. I didn't hate her or anything when I first watched the show, but i could have never predicted that I'd love her this much. She's so beautifully tragic, and despite the supernatural elements of the story, her abuse is so realistic in spirit! Rue is so complex and human, shaped by her environment, warped by outside influences, vulnerable. She makes mistakes, horrible mistakes, but not because she's evil, just because she's flawed, trapped, lost and alone. And she repents these mistakes, she's remorseful once her tiny horizon is finally made bigger, and once she realizes that there is a different world out there, a better and kinder one. I love Rue because she deserves to be loved, and I'm incredibly happy that Mytho chose to love her most. I hope one day they both can heal in each others arms.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t:
Tumblr media
Sue me.
The character I love that everyone else hates:
Tumblr media
Yeah-yeah, big shock XD sky is blue, grass is green, Ren likes Autor
The character I used to love but don’t any longer:
Again, Fakir. I was also once a Fakiru stan, but then my outlook on life changed. I may like fan versions on him in AUs, but as is? Nah.
The character I would totally smooch:
Tumblr media
Nuff said, too bad she is married XD
The character I’d want to be like:
Ahiru. I respect her inner strength and moral compass. I wish I was as firm in my beliefs as she is.
The character I’d slap:
Surprising to nobody, Drosselmeyer. Quack you Daddy D
A pairing that I love:
Freyalen 😍 at least my headcanons for them XD Also Ruetho
A pairing that I despise:
Uhhhh I don't think there is one tbh? I mean I'm not a big fan of Fakiru anymore, but "despise" is definitely too strong of a word.

Because I’ve been crazy happy over nu'dilfs comeback lately, I just wanted to create a lengthy nu'est as dilfs appreciation post bc I WUV them so much🥰🥰🥰 all of nu’est are such dilfs. They’re all dilfs in their own way. And I can’t believe I’m saying this but I must admit...as they get older, they get hotter too 😳🥶 lol....After all the adversities they’ve endured, the thick skin they’ve built, and the variety of sounds and aesthetics they’ve experimented with, and after the impact they’ve left, they’re really starting to achieve that ✨DILF GLOW✨ to them.
so to any novice loves out there, get to know nu'est!!!!! - ✨DILF EDITION✨ .... 3, 2, 1...:
 jr - dilf next door beauty. He’s so sweet...so charming...his smile is the sunshine and his laughter is contagious. Down to earth. He’s full of love and generosity to give 🥺 he’d spoil you with gifts and honor. Being his gf would be peak spoiled girlfriend culture!!! Being his wife would be peak trophy wife culture!! Spoiling you with lavish experiences because he believes you deserve royal treatment. He’s a selfless person who loves to take care of the ones he loves dearly. however, he does have a secret freaky side too 👀 And he’d look into your eyes with that intense, hypnotic gaze when making love with you. He’d shower you with pleasure until you explode, but would also take profound care of you afterwards because he always wants his pretty little sweetheart to feel okay. 🥰 he’d treat you like the love of his life. In his eyes, you’re a goddess. After all, he and dilf taeyong work hand in hand together to make sure their princess is always well-fed with their love for you 💅🏼
minhyun - the DILFIEST OF THE DILFS!!!! PERIOD! ugh he is such a sexy gentleman. He has this quiet, humble confidence to him. He’s a good caretaker and he’s well-mannered. He’s a very emotionally balanced person and rarely gets angry (the other members said this). He has a lot of dignity and class. He’s the prototypical dilf. Expensive sugar daddy energy. A traditional, chivalrous man who wins you over with his classy attitude and treats you with respect. He’d be such an amazing man to be a trophy wife to. Whenever he makes love with you, he would endlessly praise and worship you 🥰 oh AND he’s a MASSIVE clean freak oh my god....a living personification of danny tanner....he even once said “she can cook, I’ll clean” 🥺 His voice is so calm and relaxing to listen to. I just know he’d be such an amazing husband. Imagine him singing to you as you try to sleep 🥰 UUUWWUUU. even tho I’m jr biased, minhyun is my wrecker because of his excessive dilfiness
baekho - goofy and dorky dilf who throws you off guard with his HAWT BOD...he’s such a cutie pie. He’s so cheerful and full of joy. He’s so cuddly and protective of the ones he loves. SOFTEST DILF EVER!!!! He’d use those ripped muscles of his to always carry you around like a bride because he luvs to hold you 🥰 and after a rough night when you feel so sore that you can’t move, he’ll happily relish in taking care of you and making sure you feel safe. he’ll run a bubble bath for you, massage your body, bake brownies, and steep green tea for you the day after. He always loves to make you laugh and smile. He’s very extra too so you’d have lots of giggly moments with him. He looks tough and intimidating but is the softest and most sweetest man ever🥺😖💖 and his laughter is contagious
aron - the quirky dilf. He’s the one who will make the cheesiest and cringiest dad jokes EVER and listen to 80s music but he can get away with it anyways cuz he’s hot. 🤣 He’s such a weirdo...and that’s why he owns two pet doges (aka THE craziest dog breed ever). the shiba inu is reflective of his complex personality and eccentricity. IMAGINE SPENDING QUALITY TIME WITH HIM AND WALKING HIS SHIBES WITH HIM ON A BRIGHT SUNNY SPRING DAY🥺UWUUUU!!! as silly as he may seem, he is definitely a smart man and is the epitome of intellect. A prim, proper and polished gentleman while still maintaining his dorky personality. When he isn’t slaying the boardroom, he’s making immense love with you in the bedroom. He may be way older than you, but you have no shame in being called a gold digger/sexpot. Showers you with money and pretty gifts. And is very soft beneath the surface. You’re his beloved goddess and he finds your soul so precious 🥰
ren - A MILF/DILF CROSSOVER!!! Ugh where do I even start with him!?!?? Omg...he’d give you whiplash with his multifaceted nature. He can easily be the gentlemanly multimillionaire executive banker dilf....(COUGHS I’m in trouble era COUGHS) ........ but he can JUST as much pull off the “pretty & sparkly trophy wife of the dilf” aesthetic too!!!! He’ll have you wondering “is he the dilf or the trophy wife of the dilf?” He’ll happily be your hot sugar daddy dilf who showers you with his money, spoils you with his unmatched amount of love, and arouses you with his sandalwood and patchouli cologne.....But he can just as much be the sugar momma milf who entices you with his beautifully blown out curls, his red lipstick stains, and gorgeous outfits. He is a charming seducer and a beguiling seductress in one person. He blurs the lines between dilf and milf. 😳
AAAAAA I'M SO SOFT AFTER WRITING ALL THIS 🥺

Since today I'm revealing what I goddamn nerd I am I might as well do this
I'm rewatching Grian's VOD from last week's MCC and.... oh my god???
I knew that he ended up blowing up 4 people in Sky Battle but I did not know how much goddamn unbridled JOY would follow. Seriously, how could you possibly not just smile at the way he was laughing?? SO pure. And then when he placed number 1? I admittedly was not paying very much attention when it was live (I was watching Ren's POV), and the fact that GRIAN, of ALL PEOPLE, placed FIRST?? INCREDIBLE
And then. He called himself Sand Daddy in Sands of Time. I watched his perspective live last time and like.... Smajor my beloved...... The way Grian just did not bat an eye at using that name............ The way that MCC is Smajor's project and therefore by using that term he made it canon............... I'm in love with their friendship
I'm only on Sands of Time and I will get back to this by Dodgebolt but the moral of the story is I'm never gonna skip out on Grian's perspective again if he's playing

Congratulations, We Fell for Another Love Bombing or Thank You, Disney, You Did It Again
Sigh. Luke Skywalker is back. And Din Djarin and his child had to say goodbye. I never thought I would curse and say “Oh no!” when Luke appeared in that fateful corridor.
I wonder why the Disney studios are doing this - trying to "make up” for the oh-so criticized sequels, I suppose?
The Jedi have made their time. It was shown and proven over and over again that their attitude is wrong and needs to change, and Luke was the last of the old school Jedi. Again, a Force-sensitive child is all but kidnapped by a Jedi: he obviously did not like to go. Mando is no longer the hero of the story, he was stripped of his agency and all of his personal choices were questioned and valued for null and void. But the Dark Saber is in his hands now, so he’s the heir to the throne of Mandalore I guess. Like he ever wanted that.
This show, which grew to be so well-beloved in only a few episodes, now is not “The Mandalorian” any more. Its new title is “Luke’s Skywalker’s Comeback”. Hardcore fans may be out of their minds with joy, but for us, who admired Mando both as a badass hero and as a father figure and loved the dynamics between him and Grogu, the whole purpose of the show is destroyed. And here I naively had thought The Rise of Skywalker was bad enough to teach the studios not to repeat its mistakes.
~~~ more under the cut ~~~
Star Wars ought to be a fairy tale. It is and always was one. I can understand that the prequels had to end in a tragedy, we all knew that from the start, but why the sequels? And now, why must this generally acclaimed and beloved tv show again appease hardcore fans of old with Luke coming to save the day, cancelling in a matter of minutes what the story had built up within two entire seasons - the relationship of the two protagonists, heart and core of the narrative, as it had been with Rey and Ben Solo? And when both of them had their relationship just getting started - Rey and Ben kissing, Din calling Grogu by his name and the latter seeing him and touching his face? Why make Rey a queen without her king, and Din a father without a son?
Again, a Force-user is denied having a home: „Jedi training” matters more. By Luke of all people, the guy who never was trained in the first place (only very briefly), who except for a few lessons with Obi-Wan and Yoda was self-taught in the Force, and never understood that his strength lay with his compassion and his connection with other people, not with his alleged „superpowers”.
Think back to how Anakin, Luke and Rey were before they met the Jedi: unaware of their powers, compassionate, idealistic, brave. The Jedi mindset tainted their characters and lives, making them believing that they are (or have to be) untouchable and invincible, compelling them to live for duty instead of love, condemning them to a lifetime of loneliness. Will the Jedi never learn?
Though I practically grew up with the classic movies, I loved The Last Jedi; I can accept that Luke failed, and also that Han and Leia did. Nobody is perfect, and the Jedi mindset as well as the universally accepted idea that „Jedi” is a synonym for infallible saint-like hero was wrong in the first place, else the Empire never would have risen. Making Luke not the cavalry who came to save the day - until the battle on Crait, that is - but a man who failed and picked himself up again was much more meaningful, and I know not a few fans who felt inspired by this. Luke had saved his father choosing love over power, not the contrary. Some fans just never get it. To appease them, why not simply give him a new storyline of his own, instead of making him intrude in other Star Wars related shows? Why stop the new stories in their tracks just to bring him back?
Instead of seeing Luke as the grand kickass hero in a tv show that never had anything to do with him until now, it would have been more to the purpose to finally shed light on the thirty years between his father’s and his nephew’s death, to explain us where the Jedi and the Skywalker-Organa-Solo family failed to make such an outcome possible - the granddaughter of Palpatine taking over with their own blessing. There must have been a huge build-up between the end of the original saga and the fateful night at the temple when Luke briefly panicked looking into his nephew’s mind. Many fans still are convinced that „Kylo Ren just chose to be bad” because we hardly know how the relationship between these two was in the first place. (A very easy plot twist would e.g. have been Snoke warning Ben that his uncle sooner or later would turn on him, frightened by his power. The fulfilment of that prophecy would have made the night at the temple much more impactful.)
I understand that the studios want to tease us, to make us watch the other shows, too. But honestly, I’m getting tired of feeling duped. Tired of getting attached to new heroes to have their purpose smashed just so the Star Wars dudebro fans can sleep quietly at night because „some Jedi will take care of it”. First the characters from the sequels, now the ones from The Mandalorian. You get to love the new characters, you root for them to find happiness or at least some closure, and then, at the last moment, poof!, the hero of old comes back and the story development stops right there.
It is not right and it never was for the Jedi to take Force-sensitive children away from home, to enforce „you have to become a Jedi, like it or not” on them, to teach them not to have attachments, to make them focus on the Light Side thereby bringing the Force out of its much-needed balance. While Ahsoka saw that Grogu has formed a strong attachment to Din Djarin, Luke obviously did not, or he did not care. The irony is that he always wanted a father, and knows the pain of losing a father you’ve just found.
The Mandalorian felt like a consolation after Episode IX, a blessing for the fans for whom heart and soul are more interesting than nostalgia and „Jedi superheroes”. Now it’s just another kick in the guts. It’s painful and embarrassing to get to love characters so much, to get invested in their story so deeply, and then to realize again that they seem to mean nothing in the shade of the heroes of old. Ben Solo died young and miserable and Din Djarin and Grogu can now, I suppose, be miserable too. Can someone please explain to me why after the classics, no Star Wars film or show had an uplifting ending any more? With the possible exception of Solo, which was a nice filler but not a really important storyline. (I do not count Episodes I and II, they officially had a happy ending but it was tainted by the knowledge of what was to come.)
Fans are not blind. We saw the parallels between Darth Vader and Din Djarin as well as the differences - both being cool and tough but the latter not disdaining to be a caring father at the same time. The entire show lived from the dynamics between the gruff but kind bounty hunter and the innocent-looking powerful child, ever from the first episode. Two years of build-up for nothing, as it was with the four years of the sequels. Mando has to relinquish Grogu, Rey loses Ben. What was all that for? Both Mando and Rey are fighters, they have done nothing else their entire lives. What is to become of them now that they have nothing to fight for any more, nor anyone to live for? Except staying on a planet that is foreign to them and, for all they know, inhabitable or at least inhospitable?
With Rey and Ben Solo, the situation was different: she had proven good intentions but bad attitude (arrogance, violence, judgement) over and over, unable to deny her heritage, and even impaled her „antagonist” once while he was only defending himself. He had been the head of a criminal organization for years, and had committed patricide. Of course there are nuances to these characters and I still believe that they would have deserved another chance; I understand however that would have been unfitting to let the sequels end giving them a happy ending.
But in the case of Din Djarin, a man of honor, who has made friends and brought peace wherever he went throughout the galaxy? Grogu, the last surviving padawan of the old Jedi temple, who saved both his and Greef Karga’s life despite the danger for himself? What did they do to deserve being ripped apart like that?
So, all I can say: thank you, you did it again. And, once more, just before Christmas. I wish at least these depressing endings would be released at some other time.
I would dearly want to see a galaxy that finally learned from its faults, where family and attachments and Balance and free choice are not contrary to being a Jedi. I am in my late forties and I’m beginning to give up hope that I will live to see it. By now I am wondering whether George Lucas himself will live to see it.
I always loved Luke. He is one of my favorite heroes. But now he’s become an insensitive know-it-all who suffered from his own daddy issues to the point that he almost died crying out to his father for help, yet did not learn not to separate fathers from children and vice versa and, on the contrary, is doing it over and over again. He did not even tell Mando his name, or where he could reach him. We don’t have a clue as to if, when and how the Clan of Two will meet again.
I get it that since this show is set five years Return of the Jedi, it would have been difficult to ignore Luke’s existence altogether. And of course, we can rest assured that Luke will do his best for Grogu. But still: he has made his time. I wanted to see the new heroes going their own way, not hanging on the sleeves of the former generation. Mando is a man of honor, he had promised to bring Grogu to his own kind and he relinquished him despite his own wishes. (Not to mention that technically, since he identifies as a Mandalorian, by being a Jedi Luke is his enemy.) Why did Luke have to take the child away? His greatest strength always was that he was first and foremost himself and only in the second place a Jedi. What became of his trademark compassion?
Before The Mandalorian, we have never seen a healthy and working father-son relationship in the saga. It was incredibly refreshing and heart-warming to see these two traveling through the galaxy and living through adventures together; also, contrarily to Yoda, Grogu saw a lot of the bad things happening in the galaxy with his own eyes, which certainly was good for his character development.
But in the end, both he and his „father” did not go anywhere. Like Rey in Episode IX, they found a) power and b) a surrogate place, but neither got what was actually his heart’s wish - a home. I can’t understand why. Deliberate cruelty? We never knew whether Han and Leia and Ben felt how painful it was to break up their little family for the sake of „Jedi training”. You bet Din and Grogu did feel that pain and loss.
Tumblr media
Both as a person with a heart and a brain and an almost lifelong Star Wars fan I am sickened by the readiness of the studios to end all that this well-made show had built up, for the appeasement of Jedi worshippers who just don’t want to see that the Jedi mindset needs urgently to change. It can’t be that difficult to renew them for the better; there is no necessity to erase the Jedi completely and there is nothing bad with making them grow wiser and stronger by finally understanding and accepting the importance of attachments and family ties. Yes, I realize that being a father also means learning how to let go; but here we are speaking of a literal child, not of a young adult who chose his own way in life.
I thought that George Lucas knew why he sold his franchise to the Disney studios, given their tradition in telling stories about family and friendship. This development is not a triumph, it is unworthy both of the studios and of the entire Star Wars saga. I’m tired of producers bowing down before fans who see every shred of the saga through „Jedi are always right”-tinted glasses respectively who value coolness over compassion even though it always was the saga’s central message.
Whatever happens in Season 3, countless fans will only be watching it asking, „Where’s Luke?” If Grogu should choose to join Mando again, everybody will be like, „But how can he want to leave Luke Skywalker of all people?” Some already see Grogu die prematurely, killed by the oh-so-bad guy Kylo Ren, for no other reason than to just to further prove how evil he is. In which case both Ben Solo and Grogu will have lived and died for nothing except for leaving a lot of heartbreak behind.
There must be another and better way to honor the legacy of both Luke Skywalker and the original trilogy than to think up new heroes and then destroy their purpose for the sake of old times’ glory. Lucas himself had said that Star Wars is basically for twelve-year-olds. It seems not: it’s for the fans who were twelve years old forty years ago, when the first movies hit theatres.
There are enough voices crying out for the sequels to be erased from canon. Who knows? This may be the next step into the past instead of the future. The sequels were hinting at a better future (Balance), Grogu was, too (family). But the grand past is so reassuring. The sequels tried to tell the audience to grow up and learn to do without their heroes, to see that even they were flawed and that the new heroes could grow beyond them. Fie on them, said the hardcore fans. Now it’s the turn of the younger generation, who got to know and love the saga with the sequels or The Mandalorian, to be like „WTF”.
Rogue One also had been a huge disappointment to me. Not that I found it badly made, but I went into a depressive mood for three days for the same reason: I did not like that I had grown so attached to all of these characters only to see all of them die. The infamous Darth Vader scenes and the design with the huge hints at the classic movies were no consolation. Nostalgia does not make me happy. Heart does. Rogue One, the sequels and The Mandalorian were all, in the end, deprived of all human feeling except loss and regret and many, many thoughts about what might have been.
The Mandalorian was an excellent story on its own. It did not need Luke Skywalker. It is and ought to be Din Djarin’s story, who lost or gave up everything because he was afraid to lose the child: and now he did. It’s not comforting that he lost him to the alleged Good Guy. Luke of course won’t turn a hair on Grogu’s head, but he can’t offer him a home, we already know that. Ahsoka saw the attachment between the two and she knows the dangers of it; Luke does not know what drove his father to his terrible fate. If the sequels remain canon, then we already know that Luke will not allow his pupils having and keeping healthy attachments. And that does not promise well for the child’s future.
Unless the studios commit the madness of officially erasing the sequels and starting the saga anew, we can only hope that the child will not stay with Luke for long since it’s a good five years before he will start his own Jedi temple. Maybe he will die of a broken heart, poor little guy. And Din Djarin might become the new ruler of Mandalore, though sad and alone. But who cares: Luke is back. Please: I did not subscribe to Disney+ wanting to see Schwarzenegger movies. The lonesome hero can ride into the sunset for all I care, out of sight and of mind. Star Wars’ greatest strength always was its heart.
My own take was that Grogu is meant to be a healer, and since Luke is not, there is no way he can teach him this particular skill in the Force. Anakin was a pilot and a mechanic, Luke and Ben also were pilots. None of them were Jedi by choice. Grogu is older than Luke and he was already trained at the old Jedi temple: he’s more likely to be a teacher to Luke than the other way around. Grogu as the first Force-user who values attachment and family over power and Jedi training, that would indeed have been a new hope. This backpedaling is shallow and useless. Even if Luke sends Grogu back to Din Djarin, this won’t teach him not to take a child away from its home, since only a few years later he will do the same thing to his nephew. (Although it would admittedly be an interesting plot point to see a small Ben Solo interacting with Grogu for a while.)
Please give us back The Mandalorian the way it was, with its characters and dynamics. The themes and messages of The Last Jedi already were almost all aborted in The Rise of Skywalker; we didn’t sign up on Disney+ to see the exact same thing happen with The Mandalorian. I for my part am fed up with this kind of love bombing followed by a quick and coldblooded let-down. Star Wars may be a cult, but it need not be the kind of cult where you get hooked and then unwittingly follow a carrot hanging before your eyes. I thought the exaggerated Jedi cult was mostly made by the fans: the studios did not need to jump on this ship. This is not the Way.
Now everything I feared is flaring up again - fans jubilating because “the Jedi are taking matters in hand” instead of accepting the failure of the Jedi mindset at last; and even insisting that since things are going so well, all Disney needs to do is to cancel the sequels from canon and everybody can be happy again.
Please, please, give this tormented galaxy a chance to heal at last. We don’t need Luke Skywalker to save the day by killing all the bad guys. We don’t need the oh-so-powerful and perfect Jedi. We need faith in the Force. We need a home. Don’t take it away from us again. Thank you.
 P.S. If we see Luke again in Season 3, at least give the role to a live actor. That digital “rejuvenation” made him look wooden. Luke’s best trait, apart from his compassion, always was his smile.
P.P.S. What’s with Boba Fett claiming Jabba’s throne? I thought Jabba had a son. What in the galaxy happened to him?
P.P.P.S. I don’t mind kickass women, but honestly, I’m getting somehow tired of them. What became of the ladies of Star Wars, the diplomats, the good queens, the loving mothers, the accurate librarians, who contribute to the galaxy without killing (or hurting) anyone? I’m feeling kind of underrepresented here...
Part 2 of Yu Mei Ren's Interlude - Because I ran out of space for screen shots.
Part 1: https://unit-zero-two.tumblr.com/post/646580941235601408/after-some-grinding-to-get-her-to-like-me-enough
I forgot to mention it before, but this is the full title of the Interlude.
Tumblr media
Good pun. After losing to you, Yu is still annoyed. Mordred kicks down the door and enters with the other LB 3 Servants. My son is keen and knows that the annoyance Yu feels is due to the imbalance in sides. It can't be her as a Servant. If she wants to understand us, she needs to be in our shoes. She needs to fight us as a Master. So, the LB 3 Servants fight for her, and Lanling fights for us.
Mash gets dragged to the other side by Mordred, and the fight proceeds. The PC still wins and we find out that Yu is...kind of bad at tactics? Turns out that, "tactical genius” part of her files was also faked.
Lanling continues to be a fantastic friend to Yu. It's a sweet moment and I love their dynamic. Xiang Yu arrives and suggests he join in with Lanling on our side to do it properly this time.
Yu protests...by turn one using the Master Command "Eternal Shame" and draining all of her Servants to 1 HP, nerfing their defense and applying curse and burns. I had to put down my phone I was laughing so much. She gets curbed stomped and we get nine bells as material. Nice.
Yu then runs away in annoyance and Xiang Yu comments that he probably misjudged the situation and her feelings. He asks you to continue treating his Beloved well, she's "delicate" after all. (No one else buys this.) Speaking of buying...
Xiang Yu was paying us to put up with Yu and recompensing us for everything she wanted. Unfortunately, he doesn't know the fair market price of anything so we were scamming him. Mash and the other Servants are very disappointed in is. Bad Kohai Senpai. Bad.
Mordred ends by suggesting we show Yu how much her sugar daddy has been spending on her. Everyone else agrees that that is a terrible plan, but honestly I think it's worth a shot!
All in all, a fun little interlude. It's really an epilogue of sorts for LB 3 by showing the relationships of the LB antagonist crew in relation to each other and the rest of Chaldea. If you want a cool beauty Yu Mei Ren, you'll probably be disappointed, but there's a charm in her acting like a brat and getting to be so loved by those around her.
Also, some serious EMIYA and Lanling character moments hidden in here. So, bonus!
