It’s not long before Mary finds herself wandering the house whilst Remus sleeps.

She doesn’t know how she has the strength to suddenly do this considering she’s done nothing but sleep for the last week, but maybe the trip to see Remus has fixed her up a bit. Maybe she just wants to take a moment to breathe and get herself together.

Either way, she finds herself standing in Remus and Sirius’ room, and it’s like being transported back in time.

Because it’s clear Remus hasn’t been sleeping in here since he heard the news. For fucks sake, Sirius’ jacket is still laying on the bed. There’s pieces of both of them scattered everywhere; a book resting on the bed side table, one of Remus’ sweaters thrown over a desk chair, magazines and photos and glasses of water and a box of cigarettes and bars of chocolate and a single sock lying on the edge of the bed. The sheets haven’t even been made and if Mary concentrates hard enough she can smell Sirius’ perfume.

To some this may be considered an invasion of privacy, and Mary herself doesn’t even know what she’s doing here. She’s only been in their room a handful of times and it’s usually because one of them wants to show her a book they’re reading or a photo they took.

Maybe it’s because this room, completely untouched by the outside air, is living proof that they were happy once. Maybe not Mary to be exact, but Remus and Sirius were. They were here together and alive at a time where everything was ok. This room is evidence to Mary that they existed before this tragedy.

And maybe that thought makes it worse, but it also brings her a little bit of comfort.

Like they’re not just what happened to them. They’re so much more than that.

Currently Watching: rewatching Young Royals bc season 3, rewatching criminal minds again. Also just watched Femme (2023) and Ella Enchanted (2004) today. I still don’t know how I feel about Femme but the surface emotions are not positive
