There's a lot I wanna say about TCF but finals starting to choke me, so the whole infodump have to raincheck for another 2 weeks.
Except for this because dangggg. When I saw the meme about Cale playing Clopeh like a fiddle. They are not at all exaggerating. I thought it was just the usual priest-messenger-magical being scam but this is really taking it to a whole new level. 👀

Parents and informing dynamics
I've been seeing a few posts about how Enid's parents aren't great, and I just saw another piece about how Morticia tells Wednesday what Enid whats to hear from her own mother.
First of all, block me (may have to block my main blog, vynsvision, but fucking block me) if you think Enid's father isn't doing enough. He's doing the best he can. Enid's mom is pressuring, and I would say even verbally abusing Enid- and her father is very quiet during these moments. It is clear that he experiences the same verbal attacks as Enid does, although probably on a different subject. (Not sure what, as we don't see it. Maybe that hes not man enough? Clearly the mom is the leader of the pack here, not dad.) His encouragement to Enid is the best he can do safely.
Anyway, I think the parents of the students we see and their relationships and dynamics with their kids, and how their kids react, is SO fascinating.
Wednesday's parents love her and are so proud of her. They don't want her to be a new version of themselves- that's something Wednesday thought they wanted. Many parents do put expectations and hopes on their children to be better than themselves, but their kids fall short or reject those plans. Many children look at their parents and are afraid to become them. Morticia and Gomez just Wednesday to find her own way. They truly will be proud of her and accepting of her whatever she chooses. Once she realizes this, she settles more comfortably into Nevermore. After all, she's defending the school in a prophecy, and there's a serial-killing monster out and about. Morticia and Gomez didn't directly seem to deal with that. Shes well on her way to doing her own thing.
Enid, as mentioned, is not living up to her parent's expectations. Or rather, her mother's. She's 13 (or so?) and hasn't wolfed-out yet. Her mother wants to send her to a camp that will help the wolfing-out happen, no doubt by being put through scary events (kinda like She-Hulk's first episode in the show, but. With worse results.) and other motions and steps. Enid, from the start, tells her parents she doesn't desire this for herself, but her mother wants to send her anyway. Her father understands Enid's desires, but has no courage to stand up to her mother, or can't because (as mentioned) it wouldn't be safe for him to do so. His seeing her as she is and accepting her as she is is the best he can do. And I think its enough.
Xavier's dad being famous and then also not showing up on parent's day/weekend... oh honey. I dont know if a mom is mentioned, but I dont believe so. If no mom is present in his life, he actually seems to parallel Tyler pretty well. Both boys seemingly just have their fathers, and their fathers are much more interested in their jobs than talking about the elephants in the rooms- for Xavier, Mr. Thorpe doesn't seem to appreciate or approve of Xavier's inherent ability to make his art almost come to life. For Tyler, Sheriff Galpin is focused on the case and also refusing to talk about Tyler's mother. Tyler wants, I guess, to be left alone by his father, and Xavier is left alone.
Bianca Barclay, apparently the closest thing Nevermore has to royalty, and she ran away from home to be at the school. She changed her name and sirened her way into the school, hoping it to he a refuge. She pretends to know that her mother isn't coming, and that Bianca doesn't care her mom won't show, but then is shocked and uncomfortable seeing her mother there. Then we see that Bianca left because her now-step-father and mother made a wellness cult, basically. * Bianca doesn't want anything to do with her mother or step-father.
*[this wellness cult storyline seemed to not really go anywhere, but I think her mom said she had until the end of the school year to say her goodbyes, so maybe s2 (which would be the Spring semester?) well delve into this a little more and have Wednesday help Bianca prove that the cult is dangerous and just wants peoples money, resolves Bianca's relationship with her mom, and stays at school??? No idea. A pal can hope. I also hope that its not thrown to be convoluted, but that "wellness" influencers n shit is/can be genuinely dangerous in the real world.]
Eugene's moms aren't in the story a lot, but personally I just think it was really sweet that the were super loving and supportive of him. Of course, we only saw them like once and it was when their son was in a coma. But still very sweet.
Seeing the students' relationships with their parents really helps form and clear what we might expect from the cast. What forms their decisions, what formed them.

i'll start you off by saying the bec de corbin was picked up later in his demonhood. someone showed it to him and he thought it was cool as hell, and so a custom one was gifted to him that runs red in its veins with a hunger.
Nice. Maybe it was Aeron. Middle Eastern culture, blood, history, war. Artisan. Fits their vibe.
The blood thing actually gives me an idea which fits well with something I already had planned.
him being some sort of mercenary turned cult leader is actually really, really fun, and if i wasn't the person i am i would've stolen that. that's fucking brilliant.
It does work. Perhaps Dorian found himself short of cash or needing to escape an unsavory reputation, consequences, or just his miserable life. And he enlisted as soon as possible after his mother passed (I think the minimum was age 17). Perhaps as he grew in confidence he used his deployments as a way to spread the gospel and accumulate followers. Even just camp followers who began to encourage him until he believed his own hype.
There's actually some more interesting things when digging about Gilles de Rais, who comes to mind - being a knight and alleged to have been involved in cults. (Huge TW for child death and SA if googling him. Not a good dude.)
There are mentions of alleged witch-cults weirdly similar to Dorian's that were being stamped out as heretics. Dianic with an element of fertility, and a sun god that was becoming popular among Roman soldiers. Not related to each other but the Church was not happy and went after a number of the smaller religions including a sub-sect of Christianity. (I already knew about that one.)
in the reality of 10:16, the tattoo on his arm is of the player's name.
Ahhhh... of course. Because the player shares his mother's name. Why didn't I see that coming.
Rebecca is Hebrew so not a great fit. But perhaps she likes to go by her middle name, Agnes, so that's what bird Dorian was always hearing her called. I chose it because in Greek it means pure/chaste/holy and the Roman 'Agnus' means lamb.
Which is an animal motif - she has a trusting naive nature, is unknowingly a prey animal to those who shelter her, and there's the religious overtones. A sheep being protected by a shepherd and a sacrificial lamb to the slaughter. It also lets Dorian call her Lamb.
It doesn't really fit with Germanic roots... I think the closest there would be Inessa or Nessa.
But Rome did have a Saint Agnes. (Massive TWs there too.)
Ironically while she did get martyred eventually (for refusing a man and her Christianity being judged a cult), attempts to defile her purity failed and the wood at her stake refused to burn.
in ways i like to keep dorian's human life vague because that no longer matters to him. at this point, he's nearly forgotten his own name. people can fantasize about what they think, about what they want. what matters is that dorian sits in his cathedral, sorting through books, wishing he could leave. wishing he could take the muzzle off.
and perhaps he will, one day, but he has not been killed, and i don't think anyone has told him that this was an option.
it's not to say i don't love all of this, because i do! but it is a detail that i will give to the players and the readers to ponder about. what was he before? scary, of course. led the lambs astray, of course. but anything else? does there even need to be anything else?

Highlights from Robin 1993 #31-100, to provide a sampling of how this series's plotlines are all over the place:
Tim is concerned about his friend Ives keeping secrets and having mysterious bruises. I was expecting a counterpart to that issue of Impulse where Bart finds out that one of his friends is being abused at home. But no, it turns out Ives just has a job as the equivalent of a costumed Chuck E. Cheese, and working around kids and ball pits is rough.
The drama surrounding Tim's girlfriend Ariana. She invites him over one night when no one else is home and emerges from her room in lingerie, wanting to take their relationship to the "next level." He...is alarmed by this and declines. He argues that it's not that he isn't interested in her, but that's a big, irreversible step, and he doesn't want to go there until it can be "forever." She's initially hurt and admits that this proposition is her way of trying to take back control after an attempted sexual assault. But she finally agrees that he's right about holding off, and they share an innocent hug. Her uncle chooses that moment to come home, sees the two of them and how's she dressed, assumes the worst, and wants to kill Tim, who runs off. No one will believe Tim or Ariana about what happened, she gets sent to an all-girl school for a while, and they finally end up breaking up (because Tim is finding that he bonds more with Stephanie).
Shortly after Tim and Stephanie start dating, she admits she's pregnant, and the father is an ex-boyfriend who deserted her. She is adamant about going through with the pregnancy, despite some pressure not to. Tim does his best to be supportive, even going to birthing classes with her in his Alvin Draper persona (she still doesn't know his real name). She toys with the idea of keeping the baby but realizes that her connections to her father would endanger the child. The baby is placed for adoption, and Steph never gets to see her (I think it's a girl?).
And once again the narrative suffers from Written By A Man Syndrome by never really addressing the aftermath of the pregnancy. She goes back to business as usual without any exploration of how all this is affecting her physically and emotionally.
For a short while, the Drakes move to Keystone City, and Tim gets to work with Wally West a few times. They mostly get along--Wally treats Tim a bit like a little brother--but Tim struggles to work with a mentor whom he can't keep up with physically. And Wally isn't crazy about having a sidekick who wakes him up in the middle of the night wanting to go on patrol right now.
There's recurring drama of Tim's activities as Robin leading to his getting in trouble with his dad for unexplained disappearances etc., and finally his dad gets angry enough to send him to boarding school. That doesn't put a stop to his being Robin (Alfred accompanies him to school as his manservant), but it does make things more difficult.
All the boys at this boarding school have weird goings-on. Tim's first roommate is royalty under some kind of curse. His next roommate "collect mouthwash" as a means of disguising a drinking problem. One kids has connections to some weird cult, another has extreme rage issues, another gets himself in trouble doing online gambling etc. etc. Coincidences? Or is this school some kind of magnet for the troubled? It's never made clear.
There's a running theme of Tim's juggling his multiple lives/identities and coping by extreme compartmentalizing and then coming unglued when his lives collide. Steph breaks up with him over his refusal to be more open about his identity with her. She tries to find out his name and finds Batman instead. He takes her on and reveals Tim's name to her. She starts working with Barbara and Cassandra.
The next time Steph sees Tim, she drops his real name. He is furious with Bruce for violating his privacy, and they have a major disagreement. It's pretty dramatic. Tim sits out on the roof of his dorm brooding about how "Batman hates me. And I'm failing physics."
Tim's dad makes some poor business choices that result in the Drakes losing a lot of money and *gasp* having to move to a smaller house with only one car and be upper middle class instead of upper class! The horrors!
Tim tries to be resigned to this in front of his father but has a meltdown about it ("It's the end of the world!") to Steph, who is surprisingly patient with him. He's never had to think about money; she points out that she "fight[s] crime on a budget." It's a big eye-opener for him. But he has to consider how expensive being Robin is, and he's worried about how the change in his circumstances will affect this.
It hurts to have to sell his beloved Redbird, but Alfred contrives a reason to purchase it (in disguise), and Tim uses the money to give to the Drakes' housekeeper, whom they can't afford to pay anymore, so she can move back to Ireland.
Jack Drake isn't taking the loss of his money well, but Tim takes a walk around his new neighborhood, thinks things over, and reaches some clarity...and then the issue ends on a cliffhanger that leads into a tie-in with the "World Without Young Justice" storyline.

Name: Nalanthar Arabana (He/Him/They/Them)
Race: Drow Half-Elf
Class: Bard (College of Valour)
Background: Entertainer
WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD!
So after dealing with Karlachs whole deal (dealing with the "Paladin's of Tyr" and seeing Dammon again), we finally made it to the Goblin camp.
Tumblr media
Upon walking up, I've been utilizing the SHIT out of my deception checks, thanks to the fact that I gave Nalanthar the Actor feat. The Goblin guarding the entrance wouldn't let us pass unless we smeared ourselves with feces, so Nalanthar, appropriately, threw it back at him. This caused a fight, of course, but Nalanthar would be damned if he had to ruin his beautiful visage with more gunk out in these parts.
Upon entering the camp, Nalanthar and the group were struck by the disembodied voice who informed them of their three chosen and the prism artifact they want found. This would be the time Nalanthar would finally meet up with Shadowheart after avoiding her like the plauge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nalanthar would get up to speed about her deal, seeing her glowing wound and the fact that she possesses the very item everyone is looking for. Nalanthar asked about the artifact, only for Shadowheart to do her classic Shadowheart thing and refuse to tell him, but ask that he trust her. Regardless, Nalanthar allowed Shadowheart to join his camp, though he's a little suspicious of her because she failed the vibe check.
Apparently the Goblins are having a bit of a party because of a raid they did back at Waukeen's Rest. All Nalanthar knows of that is that they took any surviving prisoners to Moonrise up north. Later on, we'll see if that section of ACT 1 is still available after saving Halsin. Joining the party, the gang meets back up with Volo, who is now prisoner at the Goblin Camp and forced to sing. Nalanthar spat rhymes with him, but it caused the poor man to stumble in his wording and he was sent back into his cage deeper inside the camp. Nalanthar took this opportunity to show what a REAL performance looks like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As we entered the camp, Nalanthar immediately went about acquainting himself with the leaders, getting a grasp and scope on who they are and what they want. And this is where, roleplay-wise, the gang discovers Nalanthar's biggest secret. His mother is one of the leaders leading the Goblins!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yep, I decided that Minthara would be Nalanthar's mother. I'll explain when we get into the camp stuff. Right now, Minthara believes her own son to be part of the Absolute cult (doesn't make her respect him any more than she did before) and asks that he interrogates the prisoner (Liam) about the whereabouts of the weapon and Emerald Grove. Upon discovering this, Nalanthar went to the imprisoned Liam, mostly to get his side of the story about his quest here to get the Nightsong. Afterward, Nalanthar released him, allowing Liam to run to Emerald Grove to warn them of the attack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nalanthar also met Dror Ragzlin as he was trying to attempt to perform the Speak with Dead spell. Nalanthar played along and opt to perform the spell for Ragzlin in hopes of throwing the cult off further by asking questions that are seemingly useless. This put Nalanthar on near deep and dangerous waters as Ragzlin was going suspicious at the questions he was asking. Fortunately, Nalanthar's efforts paid off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The final person Nalanthar spoke with was Priestess Gut, who tried to brand him with the symbol of the Absolute, which Nalanthar promptly refused. Because any other dialogue option would land him getting a private chat with the Goblin, I decided to end the conversation there, not ready to kill anyone here yet. As for the side characters, such as Abdirak, Nalanthar decided to indulge in the priest to Loviatar and allow him to bonk him over the head (all for that Loviatar Love boon :D). Nalanthar was able able to free Volo and invited him to his camp. While Volo is quite knowledgeable about the Mindflayers and their parasite, his methods of extracting one was quite...Unprofessional to say the least.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now let's go into camp stuff. Starting with Nalanthar's whole deal. RP-wise, I like to think that Nalanthar refused to talk about himself throughout his journey until now. Not that Nalanthar had any secrets to hide. Hells, he didn't even know that his own mother was but a skip and a hop away from where they were stranded in; let alone that she joined the Absolute cult. For a long while, Nalanthar brushed off his own history, saying that his past is of little concern and prefer to talk about the exploits and adventures he went on when he surfaced from the Underdark. However, his friendship (and friends-with-benefits) with Wyll, Karlach, Astarion, and Lae'zel made Nalanthar comfortable to speak up about who he is.
Tumblr media
Nalanthar admits that though he calls Minthara his mother, she actually isn't since they look nothing alike. His father was a warrior in his Drow settlement back in the Underdark and he hit it off with a Human slave, thus Nalanthar was born. Whatever happened to his Human mother, Nalanthar doesn't know. And considering that he's nearly a century in age, he can safely presume that she's dead or was killed some time ago. Nalanthar was despised by Minthara, and no matter what he did to try and appease her, nothing was good enough. He was never her son, and she had no problem telling that to the young Half-Drow. His father was no better, but he was "nicer" in that he actually raised him (in his own fucked up Drow way, of course).
Nalanthar tried to win their approval by doing Drow shit. Murdering innocents, maiming said innocents, being wholly devoted in the worship of Lolth. Yet, no matter how much blood he shed in the name of his family, he was not accepted. He was the child they never wanted, the Half-Drow; not fully Human, not fully a Drow. Soon, Nalanthar grew tired of the thankless violence and ridicule he received and decided to leave. He never looked back since. And because I'm a sucker for some softness, this is the part where he receives the group-hug-after-telling-everyone-your-tragic-backstory hug (save for Lae'zel, Shadowheart, and Astarion. Astarion only does pats on the head).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moving on from that, Nalanthar spoke with Shadowheart to understand where and what she's been doing since they've been separated. Casual reminder that Nalanthar opted to rescue Shadowheart while on the Mindflayer ship and they've been separated since the crash. Nalanthar was surprised to see Shadowheart alive and well, having believed that she died after having not seen here for a long ass while. When Nalanthar tried to glean some information about her and the artifact, she decided to deflect. Having gotten this far and realizing that there are truly higer powers at play, Nalanthar was having none of it, so he persuaded her, with the help of the Friends cantrip, to have her spill out what was her deal. The most he got out of her was that she was a Shar worshipper and her memories are wiped; meaning that Nalanthar would have further difficulty getting any further information out of her. Nalanthar could care less about her religion, though he's more frustrated that she doesn't fully remember her mission and the purpose of the artifact.
Nalanthar also was able to score with Astarion, as they both agreed to get freaky at some point in time ;).
Tumblr media
I was able to get the dream sequence with Nalanthar's guardian! To explain who she is to Nalanthar, when he said that he escaped the Underdark, he failed to mention that he wasn't alone. While living back at his home Drow settlement, Nalanthar made a friend of another Drow. Her real name is Jhanel, but Nalanthar nicknamed her Purple Orchid because of her peculiar hair. While the surface world is what pushed Nalanthar to peruse the life of a Bard, Purple Orchid planted the seeds for him as she was a warrior Bard. He was able to convince her to leave with him, but as they were traveling the Underdark, she unfortunately fell to her death as they were escaping the monsters of that realm.
To see his dead crush speaking to him practically convinced Nalanthar to continue utilizing the tadpole in his head, as he firmly believes that this is Jhanel in the flesh, protecting him on high. Upon waking up, the first to know about this was everyone except for Shadowheart as she still has to earn her stay at the camp.

I am in love with you (/p) for using "A Sadness Runs Through Him" for Cadaver. I fucking LOVE that song and it usually fits clones like. So well.
My personal favorite line is "As he asks me to pray to a God he doesn't believe in" in regards to clones like. Viewing Jedi using the force but not actually understanding it or really believing in it. If that makes sense
Anyways 10/10 art and banger song taste
AHHH YES THANK YOU!!! i fully agree a sadness runs through him is SUCH a good clone sonf but to me it is SOOO cadaver like……
my favorite lines (that relate most strongly to cadaver specifically) are
but here was a man mourning tomorrow,
he drank but finally drowned in his sorrow
oh he could not break surface tension
like oh my GOD to me that is so. like cadaver specifically struggles sooo much with like processing and accepting his emotions. he’s struggled with depression his whole life (it’s chemical just as much as it is about his circumstances) but refuses to acknowledge or accept that for fear that it would make him defective, so he just ignores that and ignores his struggles and refuses to ask for help. he does everything he can to work through it and just takes on more and more responsibility and work to drown it all out but he ends up suffocating under the weight of his own self-doubt and the amount of responsibility placed on his shoulders. it’s a cycle of constantly seeking out the short-term relief only for the long-term burnout to come crashing down on him and send him three steps backwards. it’s very much a form of emotional self-harm in order to distract from the pain for him.
i figure i may as well take this chance to share some of my other cadaver songs!!
“who are you really” by mikky ekko is my second biggest cadaver song. it really encapsulates the reality that clones have very little choice in their lives and that cadaver is constantly scrabbling for a sense of control over what’s happening. it also displays cadaver’s unrest with his own identity as a clone; simultaneously feeling as though he is unworthy of the same name as his brothers while also wishing for something more to belong to than a race created for the use of others. it’s confusing and disorienting for him.
so you feel entitled to a sense of control,
and make decisions that you think are your own
[…]
who, who are you really?
and where are you going?
i have nothing left to lose
‘cause i have nothing left to prove
see me bare my teeth for you, who are you?
like ugh listening to that one makes me go fucking insane. it’s so good and it so perfectly captures that “struggling to find direction in chaos” vibe
“gilded lily” by cults is a more recent addition to my cadaver song repertoire. it very much suits cadaver later in and after the war as he becomes burnt out and exhausted and bereaved. it’s so beautifully haunting and i’m obsessed with it right now
i remember when you told me it’s an every day decision
but with my tunnel vision how was i supposed to see the way?
haven’t i given enough, haven’t i given enough?
haven’t i given enough, haven’t i given enough?
always the fool with the slowest heart
but i know you’ll take me with you,
we’ll live in spaces between walls
GOD it’s just so. really sends a chill down your spine. it just fits his chronic exhaustion at the end of the war so well.
last one for now is “never love an anchor” by the crane wives. this is actually something i was talking about with a friend the other day—that cadaver’s insecurity and trauma drive him away from making bonds or positive connections with anyone outside his immediate circle (Locks is the only one he’s fully connected to, but he’s also close with the senior officers of the 501st (Echo and Kix especially, less so but still with Rex and Fives) and Tup & Dogma) which leads to the most intimate moments he has with a lot of his brothers being when he tells them he failed to save their loved ones. he becomes a grim reaper figure, never really putting a smile on anyone’s face when he walks into a room, because he believes himself incapable of being a truly good person for others to enjoy. he will always long for more, for the easy connection that flows between his brothers, but he thinks that if he ever lost someone he loved again, he would not be able to pull himself back from that dark place—so he ensures that it will never happen.
on some level i think i always understood
that these hands of mine were clumsy, not clever
and i tried to do the best that i could
but try as i might i couldn’t bring myself to hold you
[…]
it’s a secret i keep tucked inside my chest
with this heart of mine that’s guilty, not remorseful
there is love that doesn’t have a place to rest
but it would have buried you if it had settled on your shoulder
[…]
i am selfish, i am broken, i am cruel
i am all the things they might have said to you
do you ever think of me and my two hands
and wonder why they never soothed your fever?
and wonder why they never tied your shoes?
and wonder why they never held you gently?
and wonder why they never had the chance to lose you?
that got so long i’m sorry!! but if you stuck around to read, thank you so much! and as always i love talking about my ocs so if you have any other questions or want to hear about any more cadaver songs or songs for any of my ocs please send me an ask!! <3

Fighting off a cold, with mucus that doesn't budge unless I walk around with a hot towel over my head like a bargain basement cult leader. I listen to almost every interview I can find with Yeonmi Park, a woman my age who perilously fled North Korea in her adolescence. A cosmetically altered face and chest makes her almost unbearably attractive, like a doll designed and marketed in the early 2000s. She describes some of the most violent acts humans can inflict on each other with a quiet intelligence. Park has gone from eating grasshoppers and flowers out of desperate state-sanctioned starvation, to being a cam girl in China, to trekking across the Gobi desert, to reading every book worth reading, to writing a memoir with a Jordan Peterson foreword, to raising a son in America. If anybody was going to make me feel unaccomplished at thirty years old, it's this bitch. People no longer escape North Korea successfully, making it harder and harder to know what is taking place there. And even when the West learns the details, we shut our traps when it comes to angering China, who sponsor the North Korean regime. Park is shocked, when studying at Columbia University in 2016, that her professors dream of communism as a solution to America's ills. She recalls a game she used to play with her sister while they were starving as children, where they'd out-eat one another in a fantasy meal. "I could eat 100 loaves of bread", "Well I could eat 500". She says she had no concept of what her stomach could handle as a child, never having experienced fullness. She arrives in America to an obesity crisis. North Koreans are distinct from South Koreans because of their 3-4 fewer inches of height, from malnutrition. At a restaurant she wants big portions. She struggles with freedom. She was not raised with any notion of romantic, since no such word existed in the North Korean language. None for "friend" either, only "comrade" I don't really believe in stories of extreme suffering being a viable tool for gratitude. The father who takes his anorexic daughter to Auschwitz for "perspective" is an idiot. And yet seeing or hearing someone who has experienced both sides of the privilege seesaw, both the abject survival mode and the option of going to Burning Man, it is a good reminder of what I have when I'm too busy having it to be thankful. It is also useful to know Park decided not to go to Burning Man when asked, proof that just because something is on offer does not mean you always have to seize it, especially if it's a music festival The half rain / half sleet doesn't stop for one second on Wednesday. I get a cab back to home turf and then a massage and almost refuse to leave the table when I've been towelled down by a Thai woman named Kim. I have even come to enjoy the fact that they only have one relaxing song on file, which plays on repeat and has done since I began patronising the joint 3 years ago. I walk myself home and have bone broth delivered, glad that it's not grasshoppers, and that I know romantic love, and that I don't starve because of the government but rather of my own volition which is how we do it in the West

Buying BSD Characters a Froggy Hat
Growing the froggy hat cult yall 😍 because Honey’s been carrying the cult on her back
Genre: Fluff, Crack
Cast: Osamu Dazai, Chuuya Nakahara, Doppo Kunikida, Atsushi Nakajima, and Ryunosuke Akutagawa x GN!Reader
Tumblr media
Osamu Dazai
He just loves it
The first time you gave it to him, he wouldn't stop wearing it
You had to pry it off his head
He shows it off to literally anybody and everybody who will listen
You bought a matching one for him and it just never really took it off
Dazai wears it out on dates and practically anywhere else
Honestly, he brags about it to Kunikida too
"Look! Look! They bought me a little frog hat!" (╯✧▽✧)╯
He lost it once by accident and would not leave the office until he found it
It's precious to him after all
Plus you have a matching one!!
If he doesn't have his then there's no point to life (ಥ﹏ಥ)
When you had to put it in the laundry to clean he practically sat next to the laundry machine the entire time and just watched over it
He is now sentimentally attached to it, hands down
Any gift is important to him, especially when you gave it to him
Chuuya Nakahara
Will not admit to liking it (ᓀ ᓀ)
I said it
The man thinks it's the cutest thing in the world (aside from you)
But you won't wear it out to work or anything
When you first gave it to him, he just stared at it then you then back at it for like five minutes
You offered to return it if he didn't like it
He instantly took it back and held it to his chest
"I didn't mean that!!" Σ(°ロ°)
But he didn't want to hurt you and plus... he did kinda maybe like it a little
The man is a hat enthusiast I have no doubt that he adored that hat
But he wears it around the apartment all the time
Mentally gave it a name
If he lost it, his world would end
He brings it to work with him just in case
At least all of the Port Mafia knows he has it anyways
He likes that there's finally a gift he owns that isn't a parting one so he loves it more than you know
Atsushi Nakajima
Doesn't understand why you seem to like it so much but if you like it then he does too
He probably doesn't think much of it in all honesty
He'll wear it when you ask and sometimes gets embarrassed if Dazai mentions it
But he looks freaking adorable with it
He does cherish it beyond words though ヽ(・∀・)ノ
Keeps it at home just in case he loses it while out on a job
Kyouka asked him if she could get one too after you told her
Not the center of his universe but the first time you got it for him he couldn't help but smile
Though he did ask if he should pay you back
"Oh, it's a gift? Then, thank you! I'll take good care of it!" ( ´ ▽ ` )
He wore it around the office once or twice but it's mostly for when the two of you go on dates
You just ask him to bring it and he will
You have tons of pictures of him eating ice cream with it, holding your hand with it, smiling at you with it
I mean, he didn't get a lot of presents as a child so let him be a little kid for a while
Ryunosuke Akutagawa
Lowkey wanted to trash it (¬_¬;)
He's like one of those cats when you put a slice of bread on their head
Probably even shakes his head to get rid of it too
He was just so surprised by it
It's not that he's prideful, he honestly doesn't give a shit
But it just didn't look like it fit his style at all
And it was just a little embarrassing (I mean, what would Dazai-san say??)
Well that was until you asked if you should just give it to Tachihara and he shut up real quick
"No, just... *sigh* just give it back to me." ( ̄ヘ ̄)
Gin lowkey loves it
Probably crocheted/knitted one for herself afterward
He never wears it
But you know he loves it anyways
He wore it once
ONCE
and then immediately took it off when you finished taking the picture
No one believes you when you say you have it tho
He won't let anyone see it either
Chuuya refuses to believe you managed to get him to put it on
But he learns to appreciate the gifts he has, after all, he didn't have much as a child either
Doppo Kunikida
Honestly was so confused the first time you got it for him (・_・;)
He tried to understand its purpose
Why would you spend money on such a strange... hat?
This was not in his ideals
What the hell does he do with it???
He accepts it anyway because he's a gentleman
But that night he just places it on his nightstand and looks into the frog's eyes for fifteen minutes ( ̄_ ̄)・・・
How does one pair clothing with such a thing?
He wants to understand
He really does
But does he just wear it out? Normally?
So he tries it anyways
The next day he just plops it on his head like it's a normal hat and leaves for work on the dot
Dazai teases him for it and Ranpo asks where he got it from
He just continues work whilst wearing it
I mean you gave it to him, so of course, he's gonna wear it
Plus the kids he once taught math to might have liked it too
So ideally he should take care of it

"To Kafe Tis Haras" (English translation; "Haras' Cafeteria")
Hello beautiful people of the internet. You might wondering what the hell this post is about. Well, it's a post explaining to non-greek people about a Greek series called "Haras' Cafeteria".
Warning: SPOILERS AHEAD!
Basic information;
Tumblr media
"Haras' Cafeteria" ran from 2003 to 2006 on Ant1 channel. It had 3 seasons and a total of 88 episodes. The series rerun immediately after the ending and for that reason, it has become one of the most famous Greek series and a cult classic among Greek people.
A fourth season was shown 13 years after the "final" ending, followed by a fifth and final season after.
The show stars Renia Louisizou as Hara Haska, Haris Romas as Periander Popotas, Joys Eveidi as Stavroula Popotas and Yerasimos Skiadaresis as Vaggelis Fatseas.
It was greatly inspired by French film "Chocolat".
Plot and Characters;
Tumblr media
The series focus on Hara Haska, a single mother who tries to raise her only daughter, Valia, after her husband refused to acknowledge her as his child.
Because things didn't go well, neither with her erotic life, nor with her job, she decides to move from Athens to Kolokotronitsi, a graphic fictional village in Arcadia.
Unfortunately for her, mayor of said village is Periander Popotas, an extremely sexist, misogynistic, xenophobic, racist (some characters have even called him "fascist") and conservative man who wants to keep the village "safe" from outside influences, which he sees as "evil" and "corrupted".
He shows great joy whenever Kolokotronitsi isolates itself from the outside world. His motto is "Taxis and Ethiki" ("Order and Ethics").
He has a son named Manolis, whom he raises alone after his wife, Penelope, abandoned them to persuade a career as an Opera singer. Because of this event, Periander has developed hostile feelings against women.
Periander also lives with his domestic assistant, Tasia, a middle-aged woman, who she didn't marry, so she could raise Periander and his sister, Stavroula.
Stavroula herself is married to Vaggelis Fatseas, a man who speaks his own language, Fatseika. Despite being married for quite many years, they still haven't got a kid. For that reason, Vaggelis tends to abuse, mistreat and cheat on his wife in hopes of getting a child with another woman.
In addition, we have the Poulopoulos and the Polymeneas, two families who are in a constant animosity because of a fig tree. The children of these two families, Gogo (of the Poulopoulos) and Billy (of the Polymeneas) are in love with each other, but they have to hide their feelings in a typical "Romeo and Juliet" way.
Other residents of Kolokotronitsi include Aglaia, a crazy teacher who is in love with Periander, but Periander doesn't return her feelings, priest Triantafillos, who gets drunk a lot, Marika, Triantafillos' wife who loves to gossip, Theodoros, Periander's leftist assistant and Crazy-Antonis, a friendly man who speaks with rhymes.
When Hara arrives to Kolokotronitsi, Periander tries his best to kick her out. Hara, however, fights back and manages to find her place in the village's small community by opening up a cafeteria, which becomes popular.
And as time passes, Hara and Periander starts to develop feelings for each other (a typical "enemies to lovers" story).
My thoughts;
Tumblr media
I think I failed feminists, because "Hara's Cafeteria" is one of my favourite greek series!
That doesn't make any sense, considering that the series provide a lot of values that I'm against. Periander, as I mentioned above, is pretty sexist and xenophobic, yet he's one of my favourite characters from the series. Part of it has to do with how well he was written and with Haris Romas' excellent acting skills and I admit that there were a lot of moments where I felt bad about him.
And Kolokotronitsi itself is an awful place to be if you're a woman, especially with a mayor like Periander, who believes that women should obey their husbands, wear modest clothes and stay inside the house, where they can't be seen. And yes, Kolokotronitsi is not a place that I would want to live, but that didn't stop me from loving each of its residents (except from Matoula 😡), their problems and their relationships and how they started to be open to Hara, a foreigner, when at the beginning, they didn't like her.
Tasia and Crazy-Antonis are personal favourites of mine, for always being kind and welcoming to our protagonist. I also liked Theodoros, even though he's not popular among fans, for being a genuinely nice guy. The only nice guy I'll ever respect!
As for Hara herself, she's one of my favourite female protagonists from a greek series! I love how confident and decisive she's and how she's not afraid to tell her opinion, especially against Periander, whose opinions are totally different and conservative as opposed to hers. And even though I'm not a fan of her fashion (fashion in the '00s wasn't great, mot gonna lie 🤣), I like that she wears short skirts that show off her legs 😏.
That's all I had to offer. Hoped you enjoy it and I'll see you soon. Bye!😘

( TO BEAT THE DEVIL ) An introduction.
FORMAT: teleplay / novel
GENRE: horror, coming of age
LOGLINE: An interning demon drives a pair of twins cursed with obedience and honesty to kill their cult leader.
THEMES: Trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, victim blaming (particularly self blame), peer pressure, redemption, internalized homophobia, and religion.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Sexual abuse, violence, domestic and otherwise, manipulation, and death
EXTENDED SUMMARY, CHARACTERS, EXCERPT AND NOTES:
Carmine can taste it. They're hiding something. Humans have such a silly smell about them, turns an overwhelming shade of sweet when they've made a demonic deal. All four of these children have. He just can't figure out what, and more importantly: why.
It keeps him on the surface longer than he should be. Long enough that Lilith sees it fit to send him a fucking trainee? And if that wasn't insult enough, the trainees one of the eternal teenage know-it-alls.
He's already got four annoying toddlers to trail, and now there's one tugging his hand in the new generation's approach to soul-catching like Carmine isn't one of the best employees they've had since the turn of the century.
And somehow, to make it all worse, the trainee is good at it. And if Carmine wants to keep his spot at the top of the food chain, he's going to have to get the soul of that dumb bitch who's running the joint.
But, of course, the kid gets him murdered??? And then has the nerve to figure out how what those toddlers managed to stick their syrupy, grubby little hands in. What gives?
But two can play at that game. If he can't get the dead guy's, then he can have the next best thing.
Jesse has lived just under seventeen years, but he's ready to check out. Or he was. But of course, some selfish bastard had to come along and say you can't ever act on those thoughts again! Don't think like that!
And then the hole kept getting deeper.
Six feet deep, to be exact. He's got blood on his hands and no matter how fucking good it felt to cut off the air supply to the God who stole his innocence, it's probably not going to feel very good to watch his mom suffer through a highly publicized trial with headlines like CHILD MURDERS HIGH PROFILE BENEFACTOR!!!
Oh. Well. Billy did say if he really got in that deep, he could always strike up a deal. His soul, everything wrapped up in a nice little bow, sweet as Easter Sunday. But until then? Yeah, he's content to live in a stupid fucking Sherlock Holmes novel.
CHARACTERS:
JESSE NIX: A soon-to-be seventeen-year-old saddled with the curse of obedience. Unlike miss-lucky-Ella-Enchanted, he wasn't told to give away his mommy's locket. No-siree. He was told to give away his virginity. In his opinion, the only appropriate payback is a life. Maybe, one day, if he really snaps, he'll dig up Pastor Dallin's corpse and chop his dick off. Really stick it to the man. If he doesn't go to prison first, anyway. (spotify playlist)
NANCY NIX: Also a soon-to-be-seventeen-year-old, though saddled with the curse of honesty. It's really not so bad. That is, until she stumbles across the sight of her dearest little brother covered in blood for no reason he can push through his metal braces. She refuses to believe he did it on purpose. If only she could convince the cops without sounding like a nutjob. (spotify playlist)
BEVERLY PINES: A seventeen-year-old cursed to feel the pain of those around her. It makes for some fun family dinners with a sadistic mom and a missing dad. Distance nulls pain, but she can't ever seem to make it past state lines before her mom gets wise and breaks one of her ribs. Oh, well. She's got a bone to pick with psychos like her mom. Apparently, Pastor Dallin was one of them. She doesn't think she could stomach the pain of killing someone, so next best thing, right? (spotify playlist)
CLARICE ANDERMANN: Also a seventeen-year-old cursed to be constantly in motion. It's honestly not that bad. She's Yale bound! Perks of having endless energy for everything to cheerleading to debate contests, though she can't imagine her heart's going to keep up like this. It's already hanging on by a thread. That thread is named Beverly Pines and like hell she's letting it go to prison for nothing. (spotify playlist)
BILLY: An annoying fuck trapped in a seventeen-year-old's body. No curses. The opposite, in fact - blessed with a silver tongue and a keen sense of deduction. It takes him all of two hours to put together (almost) everything about Jesse Nix. He just didn't think he could push the repressed little fuck to murder that quick. (All the more power to him, though. Prison always makes people desperate and paranoid, AKA: an easy mark.) (spotify playlist)
MAVIS EVANGELISTA: Former housewife turned grieving widow turned revered prophet. If she got a little help from someone downstairs, then who's to know? They love her all the same. Now, she really, really wants to see how far she can push them all. (spotify playlist)
CARMINE: Just a helpful guy, passing through. Really doesn't need anything, just a little pledge, is all! And then? Then, you can have everything you want, fame, money, power, love. The sky is your limit. The water's fine! (Ignore the piranhas, they'll wait till you're dead to eat your face, just a little bit.) (spotify playlist)
NOTES:
- all of these characters have equal importance within the story.
- personal tag system for story stuff is '#tbtd' and character tags are just first name (ex: '#jesse')
- this is kind of really fucked up. the only reason i wrote it was cause i was thinking damn ella enchanted really is NOT fucked up enough. like i don't think the author of ella enchanted went dark enough. a locket? that's it? a bitch move. i'm taking it to straight murder and sexual abuse
- jesse transgender, no character straight except evil people
- i'm not entirely sure how tag lists work but i think i get the gist of them?? idk if you want rb or ask or something </3
EXCERPT:
There were moments, where she was reminded just how different this voice was, how violent.
She had found Lynette, making off with her makeup that she’d spent her own allowance on. Mavis doted on her and, from what she’d seen of other families, everyone else looked upon their little siblings with contempt, despising the burden they dragged along with their existence.
But Mavis adored Lyn. When she'd been born, her mother had come home with a tiny thing bundled in pink fleece. Mavis had taken to Lyn on sight, thinking Lynette’s headband adorned with a baby blue bow was the universe’s way of telling her happy birthday! as reparations for the ones her mother had missed while she was enduring her week long stay at the hospital.
But that mindset was a disease, one that had finally caught up with her. Had Lynette not become her burden? She was nineteen, busting her back day and night so Lynette wouldn’t have to, that she might avoid the life that Mavis had lived in those blissful six years where it was her and her alone.
Had her mother not tampered down her birthday celebrations since Lynette’s was so very close and they couldn’t afford double anyway? Had Lynette not deprived her of the teenage experiences she heard her classmates speak of, going out and tasting alcohol for the first time while Mavis followed a ten year old Lynette house to house so she could complain of a stomach ache after she’d devoured all the candy on the walk back home?
And now this! Stealing her few precious items, the few things she bothered to save up for, few things she bothered to keep hidden. For what? It wasn’t as though she was ever going to have the courage to ask a peer of her’s out. She was a thief.
One Mavis had made the mistake of taking care of. She should’ve embraced those stirrings of resentment, should’ve left Lynette to her own devices since Lynette didn’t appreciate anything, or even half of what Mavis afforded her. She should’ve left her out in the cold that Christmas. How could anyone have known? It wasn’t as though corpses could talk--
She had let Lyn take off with the whole case, as if to remind herself when she woke up the next morning what she had considered, how vile the thought was.
Lyn had never done anything unforgivable to Mavis. Mavis didn’t suppose she ever could. It was no fault of Lyn’s she didn’t understand what it was like to live with their father. How could she? It was a topic off limits to Lyn by both Mavis and their mother. After all, a child born blind doesn’t know until it’s pointed out to them.
And yet, she found guilt hard to summon. She did, but the speed at which it came, the strength, made her uneasy. What had happened to the girl she was? Lyn had been her world. What had changed?
Then, dully, that other voice, entirely of its own volition, said You did.

Haikyuu boys / playing Among Us
☆ Karasuno ☆
Literally the loudest games you'll ever witness
You know that grainy, electronic crackle that happens when everybody yells on Discord at the same time? Yeah. That
Kageyama can't lie for shit. It's so obvious when he's lying that it's a genuine miracle if he doesn't immediately get ejected
And he stands in all the wrong places when he's faking doing his tasks 😭😭
But he sounds super suspicious when he's telling the truth, too 😅
Noya and Tanaka buddy up no matter what, and go around trying to clear or murder people together
They also end up fuelling each other's incorrect assumptions
Asahi is way too timid to murder anyone right away, so if nobody dies in the first two rounds, you know it's him or someone trying to frame him...
Daichi is the host and tries to keep order in the lobby...tries someone help him
Hinata: Guys, please stop swearing! Natsu is watching me play!! waahhh 🙈 so cute 😇
Hinata always has to be orange. Don't touch his orange
Ennoshita is the king of self-reporting and getting away with it it just be like that
Kageyama goes around called 'Milk' 🥛
Tsukki tries to big-brain the shit out of it 🤣
He's also hella manipulative as an imposter and refuses to kill Yamaguchi 😭
Suga likes to take out the oxygen/recator and lie in wait for the people who come to fix it he will giggle adorably when it ends up working, which sounds kinda pshyco, ngl 😂
But totally screams at his screen when someone he suspected sneaks up on him and kills him
Yamaguchi low-key prefers the mini games to the actual game 😭😭
And Yachi loves being pink and wearing the little flower in her hair ngl, she nearly fainted the first time she got killed
She doesn't play with them often because it's so loud 😬
Tumblr media
☆ Nekoma ☆
Kenma streams the gaming sessions on Twitch, and now they kind of have a cult following 🤷‍♀️
These fans be thirsting hard, too like us
Check out my smut headcanons, y'all 🙌
Kuroo is the closest to a genius player you're ever going to see
He does his tasks fairly efficiently, he's good at remembering layouts and people's movements, he calculates the timings of his kills with terrifying accuracy, defends himself pretty well, whether he's lying or not, can gaslight the entire lobby into sussing an innocent person, and pieces together other people's lies with surprising ease
Do not cross Kuroo. He's scary at this game. He's not the Scheming Captain for nothing, y'all
Lev is the kind of person to vent right in front of someone by accident, which is so awkward, but so funny 😂
The entire team must wear the bear ears hat. Yes, that is a rule
It's the closest to cat ears they have right now....
Kenma is pretty quiet when he's playing. He doesn't normally play online games, but his streams took off on Twitch, sooo~
Kenma also has radar ears and can somehow detect when people are lying, but waits until he has proof to accuse them he smart 🤓
Tumblr media
☆ Fukurodani ☆
'Whoever Talks the Loudest is Right' mentality 😂
And Bokuto will defend himself at the volume of an air raid siren
Akaashi stays as quiet as possible so he doesn't give anything away
When Bokuto starts sussing people, it turns into something out of Ace Attorney like, chill tf out, man 😂
But his guesses are normally completely wrong
Akaashi sets good parameters for the games, because he's sensible
If Bokuto is given the chance to host the lobby....he will set one task each, put everyone at 4x speed, give the imposter zero cooldown time, and sit back and watch the chaos
Whenever somebody doesn't have an absolutely airtight alibi–
Bokuto: That's hella sus, bro
Lots of childish nicknames, because...well, they're all mentally six years old
Except Akaashi, who has a higher mental age than all of them combined
Let me just say that when Bokuto and Kuroo play together, shit gets so funny
When one of them is an imposter, they will literally vent in front of the other one and trust them not to out them 😂😂
Tumblr media
☆ Aoba Johsai ☆
Iwa-chan can always tell when Oikawa is lying, and constantly calls him out on it
Iwa: That's his lying voice. Shitty-kawa is lying. He's the imposter. Vote him off
Oikawa: IWAAA-CHAAAN D:<
Because Iwa's right about Oikawa when he is the imposter, it makes it easy to frame him when it's actually Iwa who's the imposter
And no-one believes Tooru 😭😭
Kyoutani has no chill as an imposter
He just murders everyone on sight, right in front of people, too
Kindaichi tends to accuse people with very little evidence, but his instincts are weirdly accurate
Oikawa gets killed almost immediately every game, so if he isn't dead two emergency meetings in, he's 100% an imposter 😭😭
He then goes around as a salty ghost when he's killed off, mumbling to himself about injustice as he refuses to do his tasks and watches the people who voted him off get murdered one by one
Not that anyone's holding a grudge 🙄😂
Oikawa refuses to be purple and always kills whoever is purple first because it reminds him of Ushijima 😭😭
Tumblr media
☆ Shiratorizawa ☆
Ushijima refuses to play if he can't be purple give it back. N O W
And it takes him a long time to get used to the game and the rules
'Why are the lights off? What are these tasks? Why is that one flashing at me? Where is med bay? Why can I use this vent? What's this big, red button for?' etc.
You get the idea. Toshi = big noob
He doesn't really understand the concept of lying, either...
He keeps forgetting to mute himself and ends up saying some very incriminating stuff over the mic which has everyone in literal tears from laughter
Tendou is a sneaky S.O.B, using those vents like a pro and gaslighting perfectly innocent people he's a little bloodthirsty, too 🤫
And his initial guesses about who's the imposter are almost always 100% correct Guess Monster, y'all
Goshiki goes around trying to clear people by watching them doing their tasks, especially Ushijima
But then he gets called suspicious for hanging around people too much
The first time an emergency meeting was ever called, Ushijima literally asked "Why is my name in red?" much to everyone's amusement
Everyone's scared of Ushijima when he follows them, but it normally turns out that he just doesn't know where he's going
Shirabu tends to lose his shit when people start accusing him and he's innocent, and will never EVER trust a word that comes out of Goshiki's mouth
Speaking of, Goshiki and Shirabu – boy, do they bicker like eight year-olds, wasting entire voting rounds just arguing with each other 🙄😭
So everyone else decides to vote off one, and then the other at the next meeting 😭😭
Tumblr media
Misc.
☆ The Miya twins ☆
Atsumu puts 100% trust in Osamu not to kill him, even if he is the imposter
How could he? He's his brother. His twin. His other half. They share a unique bond–
And then he screams in betrayal when Osamu slaughters him mercilessly 😂😂
Osamu is unaffected by the sudden outburst from his brother's room
Put them together as an imposter duo, though, and you're in for some trouble
They often win by executing a perfect double kill
And they're both pretty good at lying, but Osamu will not hesitate to throw Atsumu under the bus and vote him off if he's being too suspicious or the lobby has turned against him 😂
Ah, the bond of brotherhood 😂
☆ Aone Takanobu ☆
Aone doesn't talk very much
But when he does, his voice is so low and even that nobody ever suspects he's the imposter
I'm thinking like Corpse Husband, if you've seen him playing with Pewds and the gang
It doesn't really occur to people that he could be lying. He seems so trustworthy and honest
Finds it very hard to blame anyone else, though
Is fairly decent as doing his tasks as a crewmate, but it takes him a long time to remember the layouts of the ships
Almost never gets voted off the ship

Santa Claus and the Nature of Belief
Tumblr media
I doubt anyone will read this thing, but here's my not-so-little essay: God is as real as Santa, and Santa is as real as God, and I don't say this in a negative way.
Every holiday season I end up reflecting about Santa and the nature of belief as a whole.
We tell our kids to believe in Santa, and generally we try to protect that belief for as long as we can. A frequent theme in Christmas movies is the kid or adult that don't believe in Santa Claus, but by the end of the movie their faith is restored and magic can be sensed everywhere.
Tumblr media
And I wonder, what was all that truly about.
Yes, Virginia. There's a Santa Claus
Tumblr media
This is the most reprinted newspaper editorial in the English language, and one of the most important pieces of Holiday lore in North America.
Virginia O'Hanlon was the daughter of a coroner's assistant, Dr. Philip O'Hanlon. In 1897, at eight years old, she asked her father if Santa Claus existed. Her father recommended that she send her question to "The Sun", a very important newspaper from New York City, which ran from 1833 until 1950. This was her original letter.
Tumblr media
For the surprise of everyone involved The Sun responded the question of the little girl. As far as I can see there was no utterior motive. The paper ran the editorial in the seventh place on the page, below even one on the "chainless bicycle". But it was noticed by the readers. It became almost a legend.
What is important about the story is that the author of the editorial was Francis Pharcellus Church. This man was a war correspondent during the American Civil War. He saw pain, death, misery and despair.
Tumblr media
"The Rest of the Story", a radio program that presented little-known or forgotten facts of History, described Church as a hardened cynic and an atheist who had little patience for superstitious beliefs. Initially, he didn't wanted to write the editorial. He even refused to allow his name to be attached to it.
His other writings typically espoused hardened cynicism, skepticism toward religion and superstition. Yet, his most memorable work celebrates faith.
Was he forced to write this thing? Why someone so contrary to blind faith and superstitious beliefs would try so hard to protect and legitimate the beliefs of a young girl? We will never know the answer.
Santa as a metaphor for God.
Mr. Kringle is not concerned for himself, if he was he wouldn't be here. He is in this regrettable position because he is willing to sacrifice himself for children. To create in their minds a world far better than the one we've made for them. If this is, as Mr. Collins suggests, a masquerade then Mr. Kringle is eager to forfeit his freedom to preserve that masquerade. To subject himself to prosecution to protect the children's right to believe. If this court finds that Mr. Kringle is not who he says he is, that there is no Santa, I ask the court to judge which is worse: A lie that draws a smile or a truth that draws a tear.
Miracle on 34th Street
To believe in something even when it doesn't make sense or when you don't have proof. This is a frequent theme in Santa movies. Many use Santa as a commentary on the nature of faith and use him as metaphor to the Christian god. No one took it so far as the 1998 remake of Miracle on 34th street.
The final proof on court that Kris Kringle may not be crazy is that since the US Department of Treasury can put "In God We Trust" on US currency with no hard evidence, then the people of New York can believe in Santa Claus in the same way.
Tumblr media
The "Hogfather" and Terry Pratchett
Tumblr media
I wrote this essay because I recently read the "Hogfather" by Terry Pratchett, and he basically wrote the best argument for faith and belief that I've ever seen.
First, there's this dialogue exchange:
"There are many who say this... person does not exist," he said.
He must exist. How else could you so readily recognize his picture. And many are in correspondence with him.
Well, yes, of course, in a sense he exists..."
In a sense everything exists
But this one takes the cake. This dialogue is between Susan Sto Helit and her grandfather Death, the best character in the book mind you. This is after they save the Hogfather, the Discworld version of Santa.
Susan: Thank you. Now...tell me...
Death: WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF YOU HADN'T SAVE HIM?
Susan: Yes! The sun would have risen just the same, yes?
Death: NO
Susan: Oh, come on. You can't expect me to believe that. It's an astronomical fact."
Death: THE SUN WOULD NOT HAVE RISEN
Susan: It's been a long night, Grandfather. I'm tired and I need a bath! I don't need silliness!
Death: THE SUN WOULD NOT HAVE RISEN
Susan: Really? Then what would have happened, pray?
Death: A MERE BALL OF FLAMING GAS WOULD HAVE ILLUMINATED THE WORLD.
Susan: All right, I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need...fantasies to make life bearable.
Death: REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.
Susan: Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—
Death: YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.
Susan: So we can believe the big ones?
Death: YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.
Susan: They're not the same at all!
Death: YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.
Susan: Yes. But people have got to believe that, or what's the point—
Death: MY POINT EXACTLY.
And it continues...
Death: THERE IS A PLACE WHERE TWO GALAXIES HAVE BEEN COLLIDING FOR A MILLION YEARS. DON'T TRY TO TELL ME THAT'S RIGHT.
Susan: Yes, but people don't think about that. Somewhere there was a bad...
Death: CORRECT. STARS EXPLODE, WORLDS COLLIDE, THERE'S HARDLY ANYWHERE IN THE UNIVERSE WHERE HUMANS CAN LIVE WITHOUT BEING FROZEN OR FRIED, AND YET YOU BELIEVE A BED. IT IS THE MOST TALENT."
Susan: Talent?
Death: OH, YES. A VERY SPECIAL KIND OF STUPIDITY. YOU THINK THE UNIVERSE IS INSIDE YOUR HEADS.
Susan: You make us sound mad. A nice warm bed...
Death: NO. YOU NEED TO BELIEVE IN THINGS THAT AREN'T TRUE. HOW ELSE CAN THEY BECOME?
Belief makes us human
It doesn't matter which religion is the true one because no one is. At the same time, all of them are.
Religion is about humans in the past finding patterns in the chaotic world, and trying to survive through it. By believing there's a order in the world, they were able to bring order to their communities and to their personal lives.
Belief is part of our nature. It's our way of understanding the world, of making sense of it all.
These characters and stories in a sense are very much real. They are metaphors for the forces we struggle with in our daily lives, the eternal hardship that is to be human
They don't have to be absolutely real to mean something. Think about your favorite character. They aren't real, but what they represent, best, what they represent to you, this is very real.
Listen, I not advocating for complete abandonment of logic and reality. Today we have a very serious problem with people who completely disregard facts and cults. They consume fake news, they believe in stupid pseudo-science and by refusing critical thinking they put others into danger.
And then there are the Christian fundamentalists, that by all talk about "Religious Freedoms", they really meat forcing their belief system in others and control what people can or cannot believe.
Facts and logic are very important. Always believe in the Science. And, I can stress this enough, Critical Thinking is ESSENTIAL to escape con artists and charismatic cult leaders.
But you can force people to live by only what it can be proved. We aren't robots. There will always be a hole that rationality alone won't be able fill. A deep existential hole that If left unchecked will destroy you bit by bit.
I'm not saying "You need to convert" or "You need religion". But there's clearly something way deep and transcendental in these rituals and stories.
I don't really believe in God and the supernatural. I say that as a gay men who had a lot issues with my overly religious parents. But the gods and these rituals and stories clearly mean something, and I think we shouldn't dismiss the living experiences of these people as just mere superstitions, be then christians, muslins, jews, Wiccans, neopagans, hindus, etc.
Belief certainly brought something to their lives, and certainly they know something we don't.
If your faith makes you happy, if it helps you bring order to your life, if helps you appreciate the world better, if it doesn't force you to discriminate, your faith is completely and integrally valid, and you don't have to prove it to anyone

Entry #2
A/N: Heya! Entry #2 is here ^^ I’m really excited t oget the story going but I need to keep it slow for now, which is frustrating as hell. I’m considering writing an actual fic for Samael following the journal, or maybe I’ll switch to a fic towards the end. Idk yet. Hope you’ll like it!
17th April 2018
08h12
I thought I'd start adding time stamps. Maybe it'll help keep things organized, you know?
It takes me around 20 minutes to go from my house (the one I'm 'borrowing') to the center of the village. It might be 20 minutes too much if I have a problem one day. But it's the best I'll find for now.
17th April 2018
My arm is taking it's sweet ass time to heal. I'm also getting short on Lei, so I should either find a way to get more or hunt my own food. I need to keep some for when I'm out of here and on my way home. I'll make an exception for medical stuff (and food for now, at least until I get my hands on a fishing rod or something).
I don't know how to fish, though. Or hunt. Or what toxic plants grow around here.
How did I even survive a week?

The Duke isn't there yet, so I'm trying to get info; chat up the villagers and all.
Problem #1: people here don't like me and aren't talkative.
Problem #2: I'm socially incompetent.
These two things really don't mix well. I’m not a people person, and my lack of social skills is embarrassing.
Example numero uno: I legit asked a baker "So, you like bread, huh?"
He gave me a weird look (as you do) and I ran away before I could melt with shame. I hate myself. I'm a fucking clown. No wonder they're not found of outsiders, what the fuck was I thinking. My entire bloodline, back to my prehistoric ancestors, is most likely cringing right now.
At least my mom didn't see me.
Alright, enough socializing for today.
__________________________________________
09h12
Apparently the Duke opens up at 09h in the morning. He's still setting up his shop, so I'll give him a moment before going to him.
This man has a lot in store. I  have no idea how he gets all this stuff, and I'm tempted to ask him to let me go with him next time he goes out of town. I don't want to sound innapropriate, though. And, as nice as he is, I have a feeling he wouldn't do such a huge favor without asking for something in return (let's be honest, I can't blame him). I don't know what he would ask me for, and I doubt I'd be able to grant it.
Let's try it out on my own first. I'll ask him for help if I'm desperate.
__________________________________________
10h03
So, I took my time with the Duke today. He refused to say more about the four doors and why I can't cross them, but I guess I should go into a little more details about them?
Okay. The Duke's shop is somewhat in the center of the village. There are five big paths, four which are blocked by huge wooden doors. The only one that doesn't have a door is the one to the village. There's an atlar at the crossroad between the paths. They all have a detailed crest on them. One of the paths lead to the castle towering over the village. I'm almost sure that the castle itslef is as big as the village. I think there's a way to access it from the church (thing the Duke told me would be dumb as all hell). The second path seems to lead into the forest, a little higher up the mountain. I can see a river from here, and I think there's a house all the way up, but I can't really see it. The third path leads straight down to a submerged part of the village. No idea who would want to live in the most inhospitable part of this dumpster, but okay. The last door seems to lead to a large road cut by the river, up a hill. I can see smoke from here, and according to the Duke, it's a factory of some sort.
He still won't tell me about the people owning these pieces of land, but I'm sure at least one of the villagers will tell me something. I don't even need details yet, I just want generic informations.
Oh, and I got a fishing rod and a hunting knife.

Finally! I met someone willing to talk!
Her name is Louisa. Or is it Luiza? I don't know how to spell it, I'll ask her later.
She's a middle aged woman, and when I asked her if she could tell me litterally anything about this place, she invited me for lunch. She's a sweetheart.
The whole 'pray for Mother Miranda's good graces' bit was uncomfortable to say the least, but she's nice, generous and welcoming, so I'm not going to complain. I think I should write the prayer down, just in case.
She helped me identify the crests on the doors. Apparently, four Lords live here and rule over the region. They're all dangerous, feared, and never show up. They all answer to Mother Miranda. So, not trustworthy. I'll give them each an entry. Luiza didn't want to tell me too much about them, and she looked really uncomfortable with my questions, so I didn't push it. I only have their names and house crests, but I'll figure out the rest later. I should also make an entry for Mother Miranda. Always nice to record infos about a cult leader.
She told me the monsters never set foot inside the village, because Miranda keeps them away. Not so sure about that last part, ma'am, but okay. And to be honest, I don't think everyone is a believer because I've seen big metal doors clolsed with chains more than I've seen birds here. And there are a lot of birds. So that says a lot.
__________________________________________
18h10
I almost arrived too late. But the night isn't completely settled yet, so I'm good. I'll go back to the doors tomorrow to draw the crests on the Lords' entries.
People here have electricity and guns, but no running water? Who's in charge of the logistic here?
In any case, I hope the gash on my arm won't get infected because I don't have antibiotics with me. And I'm almost out of disinfectant. At least I didn't have to redo the stitches. I should ask the Duke if he can find me some meds, just in case. Anyway, I'll start the entries, and tomorrow, I'll add their crests. Also, I need to update the bestiary.

About Duke Cadash, part 2
okay so I know that this is supposed to be like an ask thing from here! butI only have like 3 followers on here, I just finished my second playthrough of Inquisition and I really really wanna talk about my Inquisitor :’)) so we’re doing this
what is your inquisitor’s name & race? - Duke Cadash, surface dwarf
what is their sexual orientation? - bisexual <3
what do they look like? (add screenshots, drawings, descriptions!) - he's a freckly ginger and has bright blue eyes, a very well groomed beard (he at least tries to redo the braids every morning), undercut on on the left side of his head but otherwise longish hair, scarring underneath his right eye and between his brows; he's like muscular and thick at the same time, I don't know a good word for it? but yea :) he's prettyy
Tumblr media
how did they feel about being called “the herald of andraste”? - he uses it to his advantage. he doesn't outright deny it to people he doesn't really trust, only those closest to him know his real stance on it. he just takes being called the Herald in stride, doesn't hate it but isn't the biggest fan either
what are their religious beliefs, if they have any? - believes in the Stone because his parents had been cast out from Orzammar and they passed on their beliefs to him as well. he's not super into it though, more like a casual believer.
what is their opinion on the mage/templar war? - supports the mages and even though he can get along with templars if necessary, he often calls them out for their prejudices and bullshit. he believes that the war was inevitable and kind of necessary as well because in his eyes big change usually comes by, sadly, using harsher tactics.
who is your inquisitor’s best friend? - he was suuper close with Blackwall in the beginning because their humor was pretty similar, he was one of the first people he recruited on his own, and they're both pretty close in terms of age as well. however, as Duke grew closer to Dorian, they became best friends instead (and then eventually lovers). I'd say his real best friend is either Cassandra or Solas? because even though he disagrees with both of them quite a lot, they still somehow manage to get on pretty well <33 and they both have been there from the very beginning of this entire journey!! so it makes sense :) also, Duke is suuuuuper loyal, so when he found out about Blackwall :)) he fucking flipped and completely shunned him and never again took him into his party.
who is their rival? - uhhh among the companions? I don't think he really has one...
who is their love interest, if they chose one? do you ship them with anyone else/non-romanceable options? - DORIAN!! <333
Tumblr media
warrior, rogue, or mage? - rogue, archer
how do they feel about the dalish? - he feels for them and wants to support them and work together as much as possible. he can see that a lot of them seem arrogant and standoffish on the outside, but he gets why that is, so he just lets them be and tries to work with it.
how do they feel about the qun? - he does not like the qun, to him it seems like a cult. he can also see many similarities between it and the chantry so.
how do they feel about the chantry? - he doesn't like the chantry BUT he does not shun them out loud because he knows that having them support him makes him look good to those who believe in Andraste and such, but also he doesn't wanna take away hope from those who find it in him during such a difficult time (even though he doesn't believe he's chosen in any way)
which demon is most frightening to them? - definitely the nightmare. Duke doesn’t get rattled very easily but that whole thing managed to get underneath his skin. plus! he’s incredibly scared of spiders and the nightmare created to many of them to freak him out, so the entire fade thingy was very hard on my poor Master Cadash :((
did they choose the qun or the chargers in iron bull’s personal quest? why? - the chargers. he didn’t trust the whole thing from the beginning and basically went along with it because he wanted to support the Iron Bull and because he could feel that something fishy was going on. also, even before the whole thing Duke got along with Krem really well, because he has this habit of taking younger people under his wing (exhibit A: Cole) so that’s also what kinda happened with Krem. ALSO! another thing is that Duke id very much against sacrificing lives in order to get something, so even if he hadn’t cared about any of the chargers personally, it would’ve just went against everything he stood for.
when are they the happiest? - when he's exploring the wilderness with his party, probably picking elfroot or iron lol
how do they feel about the mark/the anchor? - it doesn’t really cause him very much pain so he sees it mostly as something  that’s just there and helps him deal with this whole mess.
upon first meeting cole, were they afraid of him? - not really? he could tell that he was different but Thedas is full of so much surreal and nonsensical shit that this kid who acts a bit outside of the established rules of the society didn't really faze him. when he first met Cole during the attack on Haven, his first reaction was that “why is this young kid out here??? get him to safety!!!!” but yknow in a way where he could still see that Cole was perfectly capable of pulling his own weight, Duke just worries.
Tumblr media
did they use the templars or the mages to close the breach? - mages
what was their court approval like at the winter palace? did they have any fun at all? - the only things that Duke liked during the whole charade was seeing Josephine and Leliana enjoying the whole thing AND getting to dance with Dorian. he got 100 court approval but he hated that everybody kept shitting on him for being a dwarf etc. also dealing with Gaspard, Celene, and Breala was frecking frustrating.
someone is encroaching on their love interest. how do they respond? - idk how to answer this. he knows that Dorian can handle himself but if the situation requires his help then he will get supper angry and protective
what is their favourite weapon? - Duke’s Bayard!! :D this really great bow that he got made
are there any creatures in the wild that they refuse to/are reluctant to kill? why? - nugs because to him they look like a rabbit and an old wrinkly man merged into one. so yea, no. he also doesn’t like killing dragons. the only proper dragon he and his party ever killed was the big one in the hinterlands but Duke didn't feel right about it afterwards so he never went after another again
what is their opinion on blood magic? would they ever use it, if given the chance? - to him blood magic is just a type of magic really but I don't think he'd use it if he were able to
what is their favourite place within playable regions? - interestingly, the hinterlands. it's because he grew up in fereldan is used to that kind of nature
did they feel suspicious of dorian upon first meeting him, because of his tevinter heritage? - a bit, yes, but it quickly faded
as a whole, how do they feel about tevinter + the imperium? - he hates the whole slavery business that they've got going on over there but Dorian manages to convince him that the imperium could be changed so he has hope for it. he doesn't blindly hate every vint he meets.
did they encourage cullen to continue taking lyrium, or to stop? for what reasons? - to stop because even though he’s not very close to Cullen and he has his issues with him, he didn't want him to be dependent of lyrium in order to work to the best of his abilities. because Cullen is in charge of such a huge part of the Inquisition, he needs him to be dependable
does it bother them to sleep in tents when on the road with the inquisition? - nope! Duke loves tracking and yknow finding and looking for stuff out in the wilds so he’s used to that sort of thing since he grew up in a naturey place. he had to spend a lot of nights in similar situations while he was part of the Carta too
are they an optimist, a pessimist, or neutral? - i guess something between an optimist and a neutral? I guess you could call him an optimistic realist. he rarely veers towards pessimism
if varric wrote a book about your inquisitor, how would they feel about that? - he would actively encourage it because it would be fucking hilarious to read
do they get along with vivienne? - nope, he doesn’t even recruit her.
are they afraid of anything specifically? - spiders
what was their reaction to the destruction of haven?
how do they feel about “the game”? - a bunch of nugcrap
are they especially protective of certain inquisition members, even those capable of defending themselves? - even though he knows that all three of them can take care of themselves and he trusts them to do so, he still worries about them the most. Cole, Krem , and scout Harding.
do they like their skyhold pajamas? - he hates the pajamas. but the outfits that he usually wears look superrr fly so he doesn’t mind those one bit
are there any insults they find to be especially offensive? (i.e. “knife ear”/”rabbit” for elves, “oxmen” for qunari, ect.) - I am not sure what insults a dwarf would get in terms of specific words. the fact that people keep making comments about the Inquisitor surprisingly being a dwarf does annoy him though
if varric gave them a nickname, what would it be? - either cherry because of his red hair OR the Archduke :P
do they enjoy being the inquisitor? - yes!! at the beginning, he's more wary of it, which of course makes sense, but even then he's just ready to take on the role of the leader because no one else will do it and he does have the mark so it makes sense for him to do it. as time moves on he grows to really like it! he makes a great leader and he knows it.

Eventually Velma Starts Reminiscing About The Past Which Leads To A Flashback About The Old Days Where We See Everyone And I Do Mean...Everyone...
Ok, I've Dreaded Coming To This Moment, But Obviously I Have No Choice Especially Since Since Some People Tend To Complain About This Character, Let's Talk About Scrappy Doo...
First Off, I Would Like To State That I Love The Character Of Scrappy Doo, I Think He Is Very Cute, Is One Of The More Memorable Hanna-Barbera Characters And Sidekicks And Is Not As Annoying As Everyone I've Heard Talk About This Character Believes Him To Be...
The Sad Thing However Is That This Movie Does Not Play To Those Good Traits...
They Make Scrappy An Asshole And A Complete Egomaniac
And I'm Sorry But I'm On The Side Of Mystery Inc, That Brat Needs To Be Taught A Lesson! Maybe Not As Extreme As Leaving Him On The Side Of The Road But Still..
Anyway, As Velma And Her Possible Love Interest With No Name Laugh At Scrappy's Expense...
Scooby Sees One Of The Monsters And Starts Panicking, This Leads Fred To Berate Him Before Telling Everyone That There's No Such Things As Ghosts Before Being Proven Wrong, 2 Seconds After Saying That..
youtube
Monsters Scour The Entire Hotel Kidnapping Nearly Half Of The People There, Including Fred, Velma, Her Unnamed Love Interest And Mr. Mondavarious, With Shaggy, Scooby,Daphne And Mary Jane Escaping Before The Monsters Got Them...
They Follow Them To The Area Where N'Goo Tauna Had His Show But Their Path Ends Up Blocked By A Stone Slab, This Leads Mary Jane To Call The Coast Guard But They're No Help As 2 Of Them Are Monsters...
This Movie Is Quickly Becoming Body Snatchers 2...
The Next Morning Everything Seems Back To Normal With The Hotel Repaired And Nearly Everyone Completely Back (Though Not As They Once Were)
Deciding To Split Up, Mary Jane Goes To Find Her Friends While Daphne, Shaggy And Scooby Look Around...
As Daphne Has An Encounter With Sugar Ray...
Tumblr media
Not The Boxer, The Band!
Shaggy And Scooby Find Fred Only To Discover That Everyone On The Island Has Been Possessed By The Monsters As Daphne Gets Kidnapped By Zarkos...
youtube
(Start At 0:46, End At 2:12)
But As They're Driving, Scooby Discovers That Mary Jane Is A Monster As Well...
He Tries To Explain This To Shaggy, But He's Too Blinded To Even See It Leading The 2 Friends To Fight, But When Scooby Is Captured, Shaggy... Doesn't Figure Out That Mary Jane's A Monster But Decides To Put His Friendship First Before His Relationship...
Dropping Into The Same Hole That Scooby Fell Into, Shaggy Finds A Vat Filled With The Spirits Of Everyone Who Arrives On Spooky Island...
Hearing Velma's Voice, Shaggy Saves Her So She Can Go Back To Her Body So She Can Discover That The Creatures Are Weakened By Sunlight...
Shaggy Also Manages To Save Fred And Daphne Too (Whether Daphne Likes It Or Not) But There's A Little Mix-Up...
youtube
(Start At 0:46, End At 1:33)
Ok 1st, If I Were In Sarah Michele Gellar's Body, I'd Do The Exact Same Thing And 2nd, You're Married To Her, Freddie, See Her Naked On Your Own Time...
When The Gang Reunites, Daphne Gets Mad Over Fred Touching Her Body, But The Problem Is Soon Remedied By The Daemon Ritus Which Switches The Team's Bodies Until They're Back To Normal...
Seeing An Explosion Afterwards, It Leads Them To The Voodoo Man Who Was Doing A Sacrifice In An Effort To Protect Himself From The Creatures Darkopolips Ritual, Which Will Allow Them To Rule Earth For 10,000 Years...
Or In Other Words...
youtube
However, In Order To Pull It Off, The Leader Must Absorb A Pure Soul In Order To Do So, Thus...Scooby...
But The Question Lies Who Is Behind All This? And Unfortunately, It's The One That Brought Scooby There....Mondavarious, Who Convinces Scooby To Be His Sacrifice...
With Fred Still Wondering If Mondavarious Wanted Scooby Why Did He Bring All Of Them, Shaggy Tells Fred That It Doesn't Matter And That They Have To Save Scooby...
This Leads To Fred, Daphne And Velma Finally Reconciling So They Can Come Up With A Plan To Save Scooby...
With The Plan Set, Everyone Arrives For The Ritual Including Mondavarious And N'Goo Tauna, But As They Prepare To Start, Fred And Velma Are Discovered As Shaggy Joins A Bunch Of Henchmen In Bringing Out Scooby Which Leads The 2 Buddies To Reconcile...
But They Don't Run Off In Time And The Ritual Begins As Scooby's Spirit Is Taken From Him. Luckily, Shaggy Frees Scooby From The Spirit Pincher And Back To His Body While Hitting Mondavarious With The Pincer In The Process...
Going To Check On Mondavarious, Fred And Velma Discover A Possible Mask But Actually Mondavarious Is A Robot Who Is Piloted By...(Sighs) Scrappy...
First, Let Me Say That While This Is Defiantly A Disservice To The Character, This Was A Good Twist Despite Some People Thinking That It Was Too Obvious...

Meanwhile On The Roof, Daphne Tries To Open The Vent So Light Can Enter The Cave As They Release A Skull Disco Ball Which Will Destroy The Creatures But Unfortunately, She's Confronted By Zarkos Which Leads The 2 To Fight...
youtube
(End At 2:46)
With The Souls Released From The Vat, The Creatures Are Ejected By Their Host Bodies As Scrappy Reverts Back To Normal And The Disco Skull Is Released Causing The Creatures To Go Boom...

Tumblr media
Announcements
The next episode of Between the Sheets is Monday, September 26 with Felisha Day. The VOD is available the following Wednesday.
There is NO episode of Critical Role this week. There will also be no episode of Talks Machina the following week (because no episode), but the Tavern Keeper Builder livestream will take up that timeslot.
Critrole Stats
Bread was mentioned 52 times in episode 76.
Jester's 100th message spell was cast during episode 77.
Ten days passed between Caleb's first and last conversation with the scourger.
Episode 76 and 77 tie for most dm face palms with 14 each.
Questions
Laura took the longest to come up with Jester's new character art. She drew out the outfit (somewhat poorly) and the artist took it from there. Laura wanted her to look more and more like the Traveler and dress a little more like an adult
Liam wanted Caleb to look less frazzled and more grim/determined in his new character art.
Jester is not aware that sharing your problems is not something to be ashamed of despite helping the other members of the M9 do exactly that. She doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that she has problems in the first place.
Caleb isn't sure that Essek trusts him, and he doesn't really trust Essek either. He thinks Essek has his own reasons for helping Caleb. Essek could be trying to stack up favors, get him under his thumb, acting as a mole, etc.
Jester's perspective on the Traveler has not changed despite her hearing the Traveler's following referred to as a cult.
Caleb feels like the group is clever enough to meet the needs of everyone that they're dealing with (despite the fact that they've been calling in several favors, particularly from Essek). It's a longshot, but he's trying to broker some kind of peace and needs to stay in everyone's good graces in order to do so.
Essek hurt Jester's feelings when he said he had nothing to learn from her. She tried to hide it from the others. Jester doesn't know who she is right now and that's starting to register with her for the first time.
Caleb has been thinking about the Scourgers for years. He wondered what state somebody would be in after years as a Scourger since he escaped that life early. He also wanted to know if anyone who had gone through that was a lost cause (Astrid and Eowulf in particular). There's still a lot of self-loathing, but Caleb understands that he was manipulated. The Scourger he interrogated was younger than him, so if he was any hope for himself he had to offer that to her as well. He also thinks about Yasha and would be quicker to make excuses for her than he would for himself.
Jester fully believes the Gentleman is her father. She thinks he doesn't care about her, but thinks she can convince him that he is her father eventually. She has no plans to tell the others about his refusal to acknowledge her.
Liam mimes using a shake weight. I expect the gifs to be entertaining.
Caleb has a newfound confidence in facing his past now that he has powerful friends, lots of assets, are in the pocket of a queen, etc. Liam wasn't sure where Caleb would be at this point in the campaign. The group is too persuasive as a family for him to walk away and cause Caleb to go down the other paths Liam thought were a possibility.
Jester thinks it's weird that no one else can see the Traveler, but she chalks it up to him being awesome and powerful.
Caleb made himself look like Trent to avoid looking at him and because Trent is enemy #1, so it made sense to Caleb to put that on hinself.
Jester's main example of people helping others is her mom, so she tries to emulate that: hence the motherly behavior towards her friends in the more recent episodes.
There was a question about Caleb's use of the transmuter's stone that I totally missed, whoops!
Jester expects the Traveler Con to be a really awesome celebration where she will be asked to host a few panels. Although, she obviously doesn't know all the details yet.
Liam pulled that line about the porcelain cats out of his ass. Now it's cannon that Caleb has 9 of them.
Jester finds it hard to be the messenger that everyone relies on. Scrying on Yasha was particularly difficult for her (considering the recent... incident). Laura is thankful Matt will repeat information instead of only relying solely on Jester's ability to convey it.
Caleb wants dunamancy knowledge for the sake of knowledge and also because he wants to manipulate time.
Jester feels like she's doing a pretty lousy job of getting more followers for the Traveler, especially since Fjord was actively looking for a god to follow.
Dalen's Closet Stats/Questions
Vex is the only member of vox machina to get hdywtdt on both Sylas an Delilah Briarwood.
Grog called Derrig four names other than his actual name during the course of the episode.
Liam did know that Sam intended to make Vax the wedding gift. Sam texted Matt and Liam to be sure they were okay with it first. Liam felt like he was playing Vax as an NPC at this point. Matt has told him a little bit about where Vax is at, but it was up to Liam to decide exactly what Vax was at this point.
Laura says it feels "fucking awesome" to be responsible for the deaths of both Briarwoods. Laura thinks of Vex/Percy and Delilah/Sylas as two side of the same coin since she would "pull a Delilah" if something happened to Percy.
The bone on Vax's shoulder was a physical manifestation of his tattoo of Keyleth's antlers. It was the one part of his humanity the Raven Queen couldn't control.
Liam was inspired by the short story "The Jaunt" when deciding how Vax was going to appear at the wedding. Vax has been gone for a year, but that doesn't mean he's experiencing time the same way as the rest of Vox Machina.
Laura fully thought Vax would come back exactly the same as he was when he died. Liam thought that all of Vax's decisions needed to have consequences.
Laura and Liam both feel like this one shot was the end of Vox Machina's story.
It felt good for Laura and Liam to be "twinsies" again.
Vex would have reacted differently if Vesper was at the wedding instead of alseep. She didn't bring it up to avoid giving Sylas another weakness to exploit.
Liam could accept every other member of Vox Machina dying except for Vex because "he made a deal."
Names of Derrig's family members (please note that I totally guessed on spelling): his wife is Nell; his three girls are Baroni(?), Litan, and Maeve; and his son is named Will.
Sam and Marisha both thought they were Taliesin's/Percy's best man. They told Sam he was next to Vex and he had to rewrite his speech (he had one prepared Percy). Laura didn't write down the wedding vows ahead of time, but did prepare them beforehand .
