A message to all writers out there.

If this is something you want, go get it.

Writing is an amazing form of art. We are able to construct stories just by the words that appear in our brain. We create characters, who we desperately wish were real. We build enchanting worlds and write tear-jerking lines.

If writing is something you want to do, if you want to be an author and share your story - just do it! However, it won’t happen over night. You must work for it.

If writing/publishing is where you wanna go, then you must work for it. It will not be easy, not at all. It is about the same as any other job. If you want to be a star athlete, you have to work for it.

For myself, I don’t know exactly what I want. But, I’ve always dreamed and wondered if I could publish. If I could create a story that people would enjoy. Even if it was a book-club of five people. Even if it was one person. Could I do it?

The answer will always be yes. You can write a story for others to enjoy if that is something YOU desire. It will not come easy, but by the end of the day it will be worth it.

You will have your doubts, and struggles. Writing can be difficult, it is difficult. It’s time consuming, it’s exhausting. But, you must push through. If you want this, work for it.

Even when you don’t wish to publish, but you want to finish that draft. If you want to finish it, finish it. It will take time, but you most certainly can.

- You don’t have to write everyday, every hour, every minute

- You may write what you want

- Learn from your mistakes

- Take those big leaps and risks

- Take care of yourself, do not let stress overcome you

- Have fun and create

- You can do it. Go get that dream.

I believe in you, even when you will not believe in yourself.

You can do it. The only person saying no and can only say no, is you.

This is not only a message to you, but to myself as well. You are not alone.

You’re creative and talented. Someday you can get where you want to go. But you must work for it. I believe that you can. Go get that dream.

Set your sights where you want to be. I hit my word count goal this week! 🙌 I would say I finished the novel, but there’s still one chapter I’m thinking about adding in before it’s “done.” Yes, done belongs in quotes. Anyone who writes knows something is never really done. Anyone who has walked this path before, whether for yourself or with someone else, knows there will be many more rounds of editing. There will be adjustments made from critique groups, adjustments made from editors and publishers, and up until it is bound and printed and sitting in my hands, I don’t know if I will ever fully believe these books are done. But for now I’m going to continue on to the next step. I’m going to write the book proposal and then go back and maybe add in that chapter. And then, after all of that is done, I’ll probably take myself out for ice cream or a milkshake or something to celebrate. I want to be one of the greats. So I’m keeping my eyes up where they are. Maybe it’s too bold. Maybe it’s too ambitious. I don’t really care if it’s too anything, though.
