friendly reminder that the book did not end with azriel’s POV, azriel’s POV occurred in the MIDDLE of the book. so yes, as far as we’re aware, azriel did not interact with elain since the POV, and yes, he did spend more time with gwyn after the POV (and yes, the ribbon scene happened AFTER the pov). that’s all i have to say😌☝🏼

ELRIEL FORESHADOWING
!!!!Acosf SPOILERS!!!!
Tell me this statement by the sisters’ mother (I think) isn’t foreshadowing:
Tumblr media
“Elain shall wed for love and beauty”
What did Elain call Illyrians when Az told her about them hearing the song of the wind when they first met? “Beautiful”
And what did Elain called Az’s scarred hands when she saw them? “Beautiful”
Then read how Feyre and Nesta sees/describes Az:

.......ACOSF SPOILERS........
FOR REAL
As a Nesta stan, I officially hated this book. HATED.
- Nesta constantly thinking what a garbage person she is. Everyone agrees with her that she is trash. They stop thinking she is trash when she apologizes for being trash. She literally GETS DOWN ON ONE KNEE TO APOLOGIZE TO SOMEONE IN THE IC.
- Cassian did not like it that she had sex with randos, which was a big part of why the IC exiled her. But he totally lets nesta fuck his brains out for weeks, despite believing it’s just as meaningless to her as all the damaging sex she’d had before. So casual sex with others = bad. Casual sex with Cassian = good.
- Nesta’s redemption is to serve feysand and be accepted by them and literally she hears the words “WELCOME BACK TO THE NIGHT COURT.” LIKE SHE WAS EVER PART OF THE FUCKING NIGHT COURT. She’s thankful to not be exiled anymore by people who shamed and reviled her (ya know, bc she realizes they were right).
- Nesta’s friendships feel like fanfic to me but I can’t say why. They just didn’t land for me or feel believable. It was supposed to be soft but it was laughable that they could in WEEKS/MONTHS turn into seasoned warriors ready to defeat the Rite. And be doing friendship bracelet summer camp kumbaya stuff together. Sarah J Maas has NEVER MET SUBTLETY.
- Nesta turns into a different person by the end than anyone we’ve ever known. But not in a way that felt earned. She literally just got a couple friends, banged Cassian a bunch, did exercise, and had some over choreographed “fight” moments. That’s the plot of the book.
- The plot makes no sense, is full of magical macguffins and queen shit and underdeveloped bad guys. It’s genuinely dumb and meaningless. This book mostly exists to have nesta think about how garbage she is and to fuck Cassian over and over.
- The smut was worse than usual. I couldn’t even read it. They’re talking porn to each other within minutes of getting involved. Like, where did my prim, guarded girl go?? This girl and the OG nesta archeron have never met. I didn’t find the smut hot at all. And sjm was not kidding about it being a LOT about fluids.
- The feyre pregnancy is worse than dumb. It’s insulting to readers’ intelligence that c-sections wouldn’t have worked. It was saccharine after school special level shit and it existed to take nesta down below feysand. nO OnE must be more powerful than feysand!
- The book wastes NO opportunities to remind us how much worse Nesta is than feyre. Feyre was sooooooo giving and generous and brave and special, as the book reminds us OVER AND FUCKING OVER. But nesta literally is sooooo out of shape she can’t do anything when Cassian starts training her, and she actually PISSES HERSELF when she confronts a scary creature. The book is an exercise in humiliating her and confirming her worst fears about herself. She has accurate thoughts about the IC at first but by the end she’s blubbering about how much she loves Big Brother like some godawful dystopian novel.
- Rhys decides to keep literally life or death medical information from feyre but naturally tell EVERYONE ELSE. And then nesta tells feyre in a moment of anger and everyone hates her for it, and Rhys orders her out of velaris or else he’ll kill her. THAT IS IN THE BOOK.
I’m sure I’ll have more to say when I’ve processed more, but this was the exact opposite of the book I wanted for nesta. I waited years for this and the whole time I felt like I was either embarrassed for her, sorry for her, annoyed with her, or like I didn’t recognize her at all. Cassian went from one of my faves to a sad piece of shit who cares more about Rhys than his own beloved.
There’s not one thing I wouldn’t change about this book.

Okay. I’ve officially caved. I read the first four chapters of Silver Flames available on iBooks. I did it. And I want to talk about something that I have gotten wrong in a previous post of mine.
But I will not speak freely of it here in the open. Below there is a “Keep Reading” button where I will go more in depth, for sake of spoilers.
So, for those of you who don’t want spoilers. And have yet to filter the spoiler tags, this is your final warning for this post of mine.
I hope you come back when you’ve read the first three chapters at least.
SPOILER WARNING STARTING NOW
Okay, so first of all, oh my god. I am even more excited for this book to be in my hands so I can keep reading it. And I have felt everything Nesta is feeling at the moment, at some point in my life. So yeah, there’s that.
I just.. wow, I can tell this one book alone could end up being my favourite book, the number one. And I’ve just.. okay, okay. Time for the real reason of the post.
So the post I mentioned above that I got wrong is the one about Home. I’ll have it linked below incase you haven’t seen it.
For those who have not seen the post, let me show you a piece I wrote about eight years ago. Long before I ever knew of Sarah J Maas and by extension, the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.
Tumblr media
Ugh, I know, the writing isn’t the greatest. I wrote it years ago, but still. It’s relèvent, even more so upon reading the first four chapters, because I didn’t expect myself to be so very right in thinking the second half of this spoke about Nesta Archeron.
Oh, the green highlight is for Nesta. The purple could be for Feyre. In my original post about this I had it about Nesta and Cassian. But thinking more about it the first half speaks more to Feyre than Cassian.
In Chapter Three of A Court of Silver Flames, after Cassian and Nesta walk into the House of Wind Nesta has the following thought.
Tumblr media
A Court of Silver Flames, Page 52(iBook version)
Nesta feels as though she’s never had a home, says so right here in black and white. “Home is a foreign word.”
Right, so I have a win there! Knew this was how sue felt given how she carried herself during Frost and Starlight, and seeing myself in her to the point I knew this of her.
But I was also wrong. Below is a screenshot of the post where I first talked about. Highlighted is where I was wrong.
**SCREENSHOT**
Tumblr media
**END SCREENSHOT**
(Adding the parts saying it’s a screenshot cause it looks identical to this typing out sorry)
So, I had stated that Nesta had allowed herself to become the monster to avoid facing her pain and bettering herself. Had chosen to become the monster.
I don’t feel this is correct anymore after reading her point of view in Chapter One of Silver Flames, which, despite what people might say, is NOT the same as the Sneak Peak from the end of Frost and Starlight. Some things have changed, more was added. That Sneak Peak, the skeleton. The finished Chapter One, the full body.
I won’t go into detail about Chapter One here, if you want I can make a separate post about it, and it’s different points and additional information. Comparing the two.
But no, it’s revealed that Nesta has pushed so far away, because she’s scared deep down, that allowing herself to feel close with people like Elain, the Cauldron will tear to life again and take Elain away once again. Afraid it could happen to even Cassian or Feyre.
Nesta doesn’t out right say this, but she does imply to it. She feels responsible for Elain being kidnapped by the Cauldron. She feels responsible for the thousand Illyrians who died when she called to Cassian to save his life. She also feels responsible for her fathers death.
So by distancing herself, she feels that she is keeping those she cares about safe. Like if she doesn’t allow herself to care for them, the Cauldron won’t come for them.
That’s where I went wrong. Nesta did not allow herself to become the monster(from what I’ve read so far) but simply pushed away for the safety of those around her.
So yeah, I wanted to come here to celebrate that small victory, yet also correct my wrong.
The referenced post is linked below.
Also, please don’t take Home and share it. It is mine, I did write it, and I want to keep it in my hands best I can.
Thank you.

Rhys & Cassian: What did Elain make you?
Lucien: Roasted chicken, assorted vegetables, potatos, bread, three pies, one cake...
Rhys: wtf.
Lucien: Why? What did you guys get?
Rhys: A can of soup
Cassian *sighing romantically* : A stale biscuit. I keep it in my nightstand.
Rhys & Lucien: You what?

Any headcanon of Nyx with his aunts and unckles? 🥰
P.s how is our couple in IDBTWY?
Okay. This is so cute. And I’m going to share a screenshot of messages between @abraxos-is-toothless because I die of the cuteness and I don’t think this part has been shared yet. But as for headcanons, here’s what I’ve got:
Nyx is absolutely spoiled by his aunts and uncles.
When he’s two, Cassian gives him a dagger which earns a scolding from Rhys and Feyre. Eventually they allow Cassian to start training Nyx when they realized how their baby seemed to try and copy his uncles training routine when they visited the House of Wind.
Nesta will take him to the library and read stories to him until he falls asleep on her chest. Even after he falls asleep, she continues reading to him, rubbing soothing strokes down his back.
Elain loves taking him for walks in the garden. He’s very observant as she talks to him to tell him all the different plants and flowers there are. He squeals when butterfly lands in his chubby cheek.
Azriel is nervous to hold him for the first few months. He avoids getting asked to babysit because he has some deeply seated ideas that he’s not worthy to hold something as precious as a baby. Once Feyre left Nyx with him one afternoon to run to her studio, he seemed better about interacting with him. Now Azriel loves to twist his shadows around Nyx, making the child giggle and squeal. Nobody has ever seen the Shadowsinger’s face so soft as he is with Nyx.
And here’s the other part I wanted to share.
Tumblr media
I see your tiny little p.s. and I will say that our IDBTWY couple is definitely horny right now...and that’s all I’m going to say about that. 😘😈

People really be lowering their expectations after reading 6 chapters of an 80 chaptered book? Has the idea of a character arc suddenly disappeared?
Reminder that how we interpret things is all relative to what we know, and we’ve barely scratched the surface of what we know about ACOSF. I’m seeing so many people saying, “I had high expectations but after reading the first 6 chapters they’ve been lowered and this book is not going to be as good as I thought it was.” What?? Hun, we’ve barely read anything. We gotta start at rock bottom in order to climb to the top.
What happened to everyone saying, “I can’t wait to see how Nesta and Cassian grow as individuals and in their relationship.” Okay, so wait and watch them grow. Did people really think SJM was gonna come out the gate with a happy Nesta, an understanding Cassian, and a new and improved Inner Circle?
This book is 757 PAGES LONG! Don’t discount the rest of it when we’ve barely read 50 pages in. I’m just as annoyed as all of you guys are, but don’t drag this book through the dirt before we get the full story.
A healthy reminder, ever single review out there (that I’ve seen at least) talks about how beautiful Nesta and Nessian’s character arc is. The people who have actually read the entire book have stated that their expectations were either met or exceeded. Don’t give up, ya’ll.

ok, i think it’s time to address the gwyn is a child/teenager bullshit.
i never thought once in this fandom there was a time where i would have to explain this because it sounds SO stupid.
some of the things sjm wrote that contradicts that claim: (there could be more)
rhysand’s mother and rhysand’s father were 18 and 900 when they got together.
mor was 18/19 when she got betrothed to eris
rhysand led a LEGION when he was in his 30s
cassian and azriel fought in that war in their 30s
gwyn was going to participate in the great rite as her mother but then the attack happened so she couldn’t.
do people do that when they’re kids???
NO.
ALSO, sarah j maas made gwyn read about and talk to nesta and emerie about sex. gwyn was TAKING CARE of the children in sangravah. gwyn fought in the blood rite AND WON. SHE IS NOT A CHILD. sarah j maas treats her as an adult, and so should you. stop trying to find excuses to debunk a ship because you’re threatened. just let people ship whoever they want to ship and mind your own business.
