Heat haze ft Morax + fem!bunny adeptus!reader
cw/tags: heat/mating cycles, marathon sex, overstimulation, dirty talk, breeding kink, praise kink, creampie, sex toy, improper use of geo (lmao), Morax has a dragon penis, pet names, fucked stupid, reader calls Morax "My Lord" and Morax calls her "my child", power play??
notes: Pure self-indulgent filth <3 I love the concept of heats in general and though on applying that to adepti, then I remembered it's bunny year so why not... apparently there is a bunny in chinese mythology called the "Jade Rabbit" who serves the Moon Goddess soooo. Anyway. Breeding kink goes brrrrrr.
Tumblr media
“M-my lord... I’m sorry I’m ah-” You gulp and try to breathe through your mouth, fingers clenching and unclenching trying to regain some semblance of stability. “I’m not feeling very… well”
Shameful. Lord Morax came to see you, probably talk about important matters regarding this year’s crops and yet-
“Is this your first heat alone?”
Your eyes widen and your cheeks burn, on instinct you look up panicked as your long ears stiffen in shock but just as quickly you avert your gaze, unable to look at him in the face at the revelation, and to avoid staring at his regal visage, fearful of your own reactions if you were to do so.
Oh he knows. He knows. Of course he knows. As much as you tried to suppress it your scent is probably dripping with want, especially when your thoughts were spiraling out of control mere minutes ago. Being an adeptus in heat is hard enough, but as a Jade Rabbit… it was especially hard on you.
You blink heavily, dumbly, your brain can’t keep up with all the emotions right now. You feel lightheaded but still manage to force out an answer. “N-No… no, I’m… used to it.”
Morax tilts his head and the light catches on his majestic antlers making them glow, and you find it impossible not to look “Of course.” He nods, still keeping immaculate composure. “But haven’t you found a mate yet?”
A mate. Your rabbit ears droop. Ever since you vowed to serve Lord Morax you never had time for such things, with the on-going war and protecting the humans, even as a non-combatant adeptus your duties were many. Agricultural care and development, medical support, logistics… you never had it in you to find a mate. You were devoted to your contract, and, to Lord Morax himself.
“I’m… I haven’t found the r-right one yet…” You mumble, hugging yourself and rubbing at your arm nervously in an attempt to mimic something.
“Oh my child, I’m sorry.” Morax approaches you and tentatively cups your cheek, fingers barely caressing your jaw, the touch is fleeting yet electric.
His hand is warm.
You unconsciously lean into the touch.
And he smells so good, so good.
“I could assist you, if you would allow it.”
You immediately flinch back at the words.
“W-what?!”
Morax simply blinks at you and crosses his arms, putting some distance between you two again. “I apologize if my advances are unwelcome.”
“No my lord it’s n-not that.” You can’t help but stare at his strong biceps, blackened skin accented by fine gold linings…
You try to control your breathing and think! Rationally!!
But still, you’re curious. What would it be like? To feel your God’s scent, your God’s touch, your God’s co-
You quickly shake your head. No, no! That’s indecent, scandalous! You’re not worthy, that’s…
“It’s okay, my child.”
The warm touch is back, hands placed at your shoulders, grounding you, stabilizing you. A shiver runs down your spine yet it doesn’t freeze you on the spot, rather it feels…
Tender.
You stare up at him and this time hold your gaze. He’s handsome and his eyes are the purest brightest molten gold you've ever seen, the bright diamond pupils mesmerizing.
You whine and rub your thighs together on instinct.
“My Lord… p-please…”
-----------------------------------------------------------
“Ha-aahh… f-faster, please my Lord please- Ah-! Faster!”
You’re reduced to a babbling, moaning, drooling mess as you lay on golden silk sheets. Head down ass up, your arms have long since given up supporting you and your thighs tremble as Morax rams into your dripping wet pussy over and over and over again.
He lets out a low chuckle “So tight…” He whispers, voice deep and raspy with sex haze, the scent of your heat spurring him on and causing his own illuminated beast features to manifest, such as his powerful tail undulating behind him. “You’re practically dripping all over the place, and yet you take me so well…” his breath stutters with another snap of his hips and all you can do is moan loudly, mind foggy with need.
“Oh…” You gasp. “Oh.”
Without pause, he’s slamming into you repeatedly, pulling you down on his perfect thick cock and fucking fast methodical thrusts into you wet hole, aiming for a certain spot that has you seeing stars once he finds it.
“Ah! Ah… Ah!” Your voice barely registers through your own lust-hazed mind. Tears prickling at the corner of your eyes from the rapid buildup in your lower abdomen. You’ve lost count of how many times you’ve already came, your juices coating your inner thighs and soiling the precious silken sheets. Not that he seems to mind. “O-Oh… Ohhhh. My Lord… M-Morax…”
You’re pretty sure your God has ruined you for anyone else. No mortal or immortal would ever be able to compare to his divine cock, deliciously thick and filling, the dragon shaft lined with small ridges that rub just right against your insides and so utterly big you swear you can feel a slight bump on your navel every time he bottoms out.
You keen and whine when his strong clawed hands pull at your hips. Seems like your legs are also giving up on you so he holds you in place instead. And you love it. His musky scent. His smooth deep voice. His unfaltering stamina.
The Prime of the Adepti. A strong and virile dragon.
And he chose to mate you.
Suddenly you feel him drape over your back, his larger frame practically caging you, pressing against you until his chest meets your sweaty back and you feel his ragged breath against your neck, scenting you and your heat pheromones before sharp fangs graze your tender skin.
You moan and your pussy clamps down on him. You are so close….
“You feel amazing.” He growls. “So good... s-so good for me.”
You buck your hips up to him, clumsily meeting his thrusts as your small fluffy tail twitches. “Nnngh!”
You feel him bite at your shoulder and the sharp jolt of pain is enough to send you spiraling into another climax, moaning high-pitched and gripping him tighter inside you even as he fucked into your slick warmth. Despite the orgasm he shows no signs of slowing down, so neither do you, as the unbearable heat continues to burn inside you, an itch you can’t quite scratch. His hands reach out for your skin, caressing your soft breasts and marveling at how beautifully they fit into his hands. He rubs circles into one of your nipples before pinching it lightly and is rewarded with another high keen and a spasm around his cock.
“P-Please… please… I need it. Please-” You pant, voice laced with desperation, your nails digging into the bedsheets.
“What do you want?” Morax asks, nosing at your neck and lapping at the reddened bite mark he branded into your skin. “Tell me what you need, little one.”
“Breed me!” You choke out “F-Fill me up Lord Morax, I need you to… fuck m-me full, pleasepleaseplease-”
And how could he deny such a sweet plea? Morax redoubles his efforts, panting with exertion and pushing harder, faster, deeper. Shrill little gasps escaping you as your mind goes blank from the pleasure.
“Hah- I’ll breed you properly… mhh… fill you up.” He pants, his pace getting sloppier, his tail trashing wildly, you feel him twitch inside you. “You’re all mine. Mine to take… to fuck, to own, to breed-”
Morax’s breath hitches and he lets out a choked groan, spilling his load inside you in thick creamy spurts as you keen and squirm under him, too fucked stupid for words. You coo happily as the heat under your skin finally abates and you feel full, so full of his seed.
His grip loosens as his hips gradually slow down, head hung low as he catches his breath, his cock occasionally twitching inside you until it eventually softens. He gently pulls out admiring the way your pussy clenches on him, the way your legs shake, weakly trying to lock him there, keep him inside you. The drag and pull of his thick cockhead over your sensitive insides making you keen and whimper from its abuse until your pliant body falls onto the sheets, whining pitifully when you feel his slick seed dribble out of your swollen pussy. You try to close your legs and weakly paw at your core.
No, no, no… it’s supposed to stay inside. Lord Morax’s precious cum-
You squeak as you feel something smooth and solid press against your pussy lips.
“Shhh my dear, shhh.” He coos at you, deep voice soothing your frazzled nerves. “This is just a little something to keep it in, to keep you full.” He pushes gently, working what you now realize was a cor lapis plug into your body. You made another whimpering noise as your lips parted for the toy he’d created for you. Red, puffy pussy folds spread open as they did for his cock, taking the tip before he worked the rest until it finally sunk in, lewdly resting against your opening, a glittering orange gemstone keeping you full. “There, nice and snug, do you like it?”
Your only answer is a little chirp, your eyes half-lidded as your body relaxes.
“Such a good little bunny. You were so good to me my child, so good.” You smile drowsily at the praise, cooing at him as his hand pets your hair and scratches your fuzzy ear. He kisses at your shoulder and starts softly massaging your aching limbs “You were beautiful. You did so well, you took me so perfectly…”
You lean into his touch, curling up to his body, both of you still damp with sweat and other fluids. Resting for now until another wave of neediness hits you.
You both knew your heat would last at least other 4 days…
You idly wonder if by the end of the week you would be honored with carrying his offspring.

The skies of Chenyu Vale had always possessed an almost otherworldly quality to them. Mortals who reside in the Liyue subregion pay it no mind as it has been a natural phenomenon for as long as they can remember.
However, those who have immortal souls and wield adeptal powers know of the true origin behind the ethereal skies in Chenyu Vale.
A tale long forgotten by the mortal world and kept close by those who lived it.
The Forgotten Tale of Sky Weaver.

"Claim me."
feral xiao x fem!reader spicy fic. triggers for xiao basically being in heat and needing to just fuck his friend.
Note: Trying something new with formatting for my fics to make them look more appealing to the eye. Lemme know how you feel about this.
.·:*¨¨* ≈☆≈ *¨¨*:·.
There is something to be said about the mighty power of the Yaksha. They were nearly gods of power, for all that any mortal cared.
For the half-Adeptus, Y/N, the Yaksha was an Adeptus she greatly cared for. And he was currently staring her down with his pupils near pinpoints as he gripped the rail behind her back.
She had come to check on him, worried for her dear friend. Earlier in the day, he'd been acting more twitchy than usual. The battle with the hilichurl was nothing strange.
Y/N scolded herself for clumsily catching the swinging club in the gut and getting sent to the ground. Xiao of course quickly eliminated the threat.
But he'd let out something of a pained grunt when he approached, brought to his knees. When she reached for him, he had crawled over her, staring at her hungrily.
She'd never seen him like that before. He looked almost like he was on the edge of losing his mind. He stayed still, forcing himself to breathe slowly. "Don't follow me," He had ordered before vanishing.
Y/N never listens. It's the one thing that worried the Yaksha about her. She never listened to warnings of danger from him. Their bonds were too great to be severed now.
"I told you." His voice was low and desperate.
There was something unhinged about him as he loomed over her on the balcony of Wangshu Inn. Something about the way he stared at her, trapping her between his body and the rail. His muscles were strained, taught, and ready to snap into battle.
He was fighting everything in him not to attack her. To not make her sob his name and claim what his body rightfully desires.
"Why don't you ever listen?" He questioned.
She gulped. "I couldn't just leave you be after vanishing like that. Talk to me–"
"Don't touch me!" He growled. Her flinch made his face soften. "I–" He tried again, softer this time. "Something is wrong with me."
"Don't shut me out then, Xiao," She said gently as she let her hand fall. "Tell me. What is it you need?"
"Claim you," He growled, eyes flicking up at hers. He watched her face flush as he kept his distance. "Everything in me is driving me to make you cry. Make you scream."
Xiao let out a shuddering breath. "Your scent is driving me to want to mark you. I want to sink my teeth into you."
Y/N was holding her breath at this point as he spoke, body trembling as he continued to restrain himself.
"I think it's finally happening. I'm finally starting to lose my mind. I'm going to hurt you. You need to leave, Y/N."
She blinked at that and smiled gently. "Xiao, you're not losing your mind. Not in that sense anyway."
Xiao blinked, listening to her words. She was so calm; gentle. Damn her.
"What do you mean?" He huffed.
"You're in a rut, Xiao. Has no one ever taught you about your Adeptus needs?" She asked gently, smiling up at him. "It's likely because my heat is nearing."
Xiao's face bloomed with heat as he eyed her, scanning her body as his nose twitched. There was something so sweet in her scent as she squirmed by him.
"I know what a rut is."
"But have you ever experienced one?" She asked softly as her heart hammered. "Because…we could…together, I mean."
"I'm going to hurt you."
"Good," She said, cupping his face.
With that, he snapped and lunged forward, kissing her heatedly as his arms caged her against his body. Her moan sent a shudder through his body.
His growl of need echoed in her ears as he suddenly lifted her. His movements were fast, turning her and pinning her against the wall. In the shadows of the inn they went, hidden from the moonlight on the balcony as his mouth consumed hers.
Y/N writhed and tugged her hands. His hand tightened on her wrists, keeping them over her head as she writhed against the wood. His free hand found her face as he pressed himself against her.
Friction, he realized. He needed to press against her. He needed to feel her touch. He needed anything.
Xiao groaned as he grinded against her hip. His hand slid down her face a slight as he broke the kiss to let her breathe. He didn't realize how heated he'd gotten as he held her to the wall. His fingers trailed over her jaw to her lips.
What she did next left the Adeptus whining with need.
Y/N, not daring to look away from his eyes, gently bit the fingertip of his glove and tugged until it'd fallen off. Tenderly, her tongue reached out.
She slowly rubbed her tongue against his index finger and pulled it into her mouth. Her eyes were dark with desire.
"Y/N," He whined as he rutted more against her. His body was trembling.
She blushed as he pressed a second finger into her mouth, bobbing her head as she lavished his fingers. She could feel his hard cock pressing against her hip as she adjusted, hooking her leg around his waist.
They both gasped as he began to hump against her core, stimulating both of them as he released her wrists to grab at her ass. His lips quickly found her neck.
Y/N whined happily. Her mouth being fingered. Her neck being bitten. His hard cock teased her clit through the clothing.
Her body ached and heated quickly in reaction to him as he lifted her. Their hips rolled, both refusing to be disconnected as her drool began to slip past her lips as his fingers began to thrust gently.
"You're…so warm," He groaned, biting against her pulse point. "I need…fuck–I need you."
"Please, Xiao," She whined with his fingers still pumping into her mouth.
He snarled against her skin before dropping her to her feet. She gasped as she was turned and pressed against the wall, her pants and undergarments ripped down as he frantically shoved down his own trousers.
"Xiao, please," She whined as his soaked fingers found her folds. His fingers buried into her cunt and made her whine softly. "Fuck, yes."
He bit his lip as he pumped his fingers quickly. "Is this correct?" He asked softly, lips against her ear. "I've seen…some couples out in the fields doing this. Am I doing this correctly?"
"Yes!" She whimpered, blushing darker as her hips rocked back.
She didn't focus on how he must've watched quietly from a distance. Did he touch himself to the sight maybe in secret?
Her walls clenched tight at the thought of him being a voyeur.
"You're soaked," He groaned as he pressed against her.
Xiao groaned as he used his fingers to spread her open as he pressed his tip.
Y/N whined as his fingers were quickly replaced by his cock, spreading and filling her as he slammed into her. Her body pressed into the wall left her unable to do much else but grip at the wall as his hands gripped her hips hard.
The Yaksha snarled and thrust hard, making her keen under him. His teeth found her ear, growling softly as he whined. "Fuck, so wet. Need, need this. Need you. Need you under me," He groaned.
His arms circled her waist and pulled her up as he straightened. Y/N yelped as she was pulled up until her toes barely touched the ground.
"Xiao! Ah!" She moaned lowly as she shyly began to reach between her legs.
Xiao bit his lip when her fingers rubbed her clit, making her walls squeeze him. Her legs trembled as he pumped his hips faster. The sound of his hips slamming into her ass echoed around them in the night.
His breaths came in soft pants as he held her tight to him.
His foot slipped and they dropped to the ground. He quickly caught her, protecting her as his hips kept moving.
"Fuck," He grunted when she huffed in surprise before mounting her more aggressively. "Mine!"
Y/N whined, back bowing to his thrusts. Her moans became muffled by her arm as she stayed prostrate before him, vulnerable to his onslaught. "Yours! Yours, Xiao! Oh gods…"
He snarled and snapped his hand around her throat as he stilled, grinding deep into her. "No god will answer your prayers," He whispered into her ear. "You only call my name. I will always come to claim you."
That did it for her, her body tightening and releasing like a spring. Her orgasm came in full force as he kept thrusting, riding her through her pleasure.
He whined, thrusting harder. "Y/N, Y/N, something…something is happening," He groaned. "I can't stop it! It feels–I need to keep moving!"
Her face flushed as he kept his hand tight around her neck, squeezing possessively. "Claim me," She rasped out.
Xiao's instincts moved before his mind registered a thing. His teeth snapped against the crook of her neck, digging as his hips moved.
Y/N whined as she felt his orgasm, biting her lip as he kept thrusting and whining against her flesh.
"That-That's it, Xiao," She whimpered. "Keep going. Keep cha-chasing that." She was panting as she spoke to him, leaving him weak. "You can k-keep going as long as you need."
With those words, his hands moved. One arm pinned her down by her shoulders as his free hand pulled her hips up more, allowing him to shove himself deeper as his seed sloppily began to leak out onto the terrace.
Y/N grunted and moaned, his cock still throbbing with need. "Feels…You feel too good," He whimpered. "It's too much. I can feel it happening again already!"
"Breed me, Xiao," She whined and he snapped.
His hips slammed into her, making her shudder and moan as they orgasmed together, panting and shaking against one another before he straightened.
Xiao caught his breath and looked down at her. Her shoulder was red from his harsh bite. Her folds were leaking from his essence and her fluids. Her body had a sheen layer of sweat on her skin as she gasped for air. The way she even slumped into the ground, exhausted, had him gulping as his cock twitched again, eager for more.
"Fuck," She whimpered, rocking her hips. "You–Bed. We…please," She whined.
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
She hummed as he carefully rubbed her thighs. "Better?" He asked timidly.
"You really didn't have to," Y/N hummed tiredly.
Xiao's eyes flickered down her body. She was covered in his bites and his seed flooded from her abused hole. The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon outside and her body was battered from the battle with him.
It's all he could think to describe what he'd done to her. "I wanted to," He hummed. He slowly moved over her and nuzzled her chest before kissing her. "My mate. You're mine."
"You're definitely not getting rid of me after all that," She chuckled tiredly, cupping his face. "Yours, Xiao."

little habits
zhongli x adeptus!reader
context: after his retirement as the geo archon, zhongli set up on normal human life with his lover, you. however, the two of you are still learning about humans and their habits.
content: so so much fluff, kissing, tea date yay! it's basically just fluffines, first kiss.
notes: reader is an adeptus (duh), two old dummies in love, zhongli is really silly here, it might have some grammatical mistakes since english is not my first language.
since rex lapis retired from his position as the geo archon and changed his name to zhongli, he had to adapt to the mortal life. this adaptation wasn't a hard task, since he was a quick learner.
you, on the other hand, always found it difficult to mingle with mortals. was it because of their totally different matters or because of their hard-to-understand feelings, you always fought hard to fit in among them. however, with zhongli by your side, you always tried your best.
with this always on his mind, zhongli developed a curious habit of observing the variety of humans around liyue. his golden and wise eyes were always concentrated on learning the various customs and manners of his people, be it a simple clap of hands when watching a play of opera or a handshake when meeting with an acquaintance.
everything new that he learned, he would, excitedly, tell you, while drinking a warm cup of jasmine tea. you would try your best to understand all of the information he transmitted to you and sometimes you would take a laughter out of his lips when you, unsuccessfully, tried to copy his gestures.
even with your slow pace at learning, he would be patient and teach you as many times as necessary for you to learn. it was the relationship that you two had grown during these many years together. one totally built of love and trust.
one day, when the sun was already setting leaving a beautiful orangish paint in the sky, zhongli was peacefully walking by the calm streets of his beloved city. his work was done for the day, and knowing that he would meet with you soon made all of his stress disappear.
you two had planned to drink tea together at your favorite place, in the mountains. though it was a long way walking, zhongli didn't mind, he would happily walk thousands of miles to see you, if needed.
while passing by a jewelry store, he stopped, always dragged to shiny things, one of the habits that his dragon form had left on him. his eyes lingered on a specific necklace, adorned with a beautiful golden cor lapis - his personal favorite. even though that necklace wouldn't quite suit him, he knew exactly who would adore that shiny piece.
that's why he spent all of his mora on it, carefully putting it on a ornamented little box, but he didn't mind, it was for you after all.
while leaving the store, he saw a couple within a small distance. his curious eyes immediately were drawn to them. the woman was hugging her lover by his waist, with a sincere smile on her lips, while the man left kisses all over her face.
kisses. it wasn't the first time that zhongli witnessed that. it was a common gesture among mortals, being it among friends, relatives or lovers. always brought lots of happiness to the humans, he wondered why they felt so happy over such a simple thing.
but then, his heart skipped a beat when he imagined his lips brushing against his beloved's beautiful face. his mind was quick to create the image of you in his arms, with your cheeks flushed while his lips tickled your nose, cheeks and forehead, slowly coming closer to your lips and-
that was it. he needed to try it. he needed to kiss you.
he instantly felt determined to his goal, resuming his quiet walk towards your meeting spot.
you brushed your hand on the white towel, that you were using as a sit, for the tenth time, straighten it up, even if it wasn't wrinkled.
you were starting to feel impatient, zhongli was taking too long. you knew very well that time was a sensitive matter about zhongli. after living so many years, he got used to being patient. too patient. every little thing he did took a long time to be made, since he always said that "you should savor every little moment and not rush time".
you felt a presence, your senses telling you that you weren't alone anymore. your head quickly turned around to see zhongli walking on a certain distance, seeming distracted with a geo crystal fly. he acted like a child sometimes, but not in the imature kind of way, but in the innocent and sweet little gestures and habits that he made. that was a relief for you, after seeing him suffer so much during his archon time.
you got up from your seat, wrinkling the towel that you were trying so hard to fix. he noticed you and his eyes locked with yours. his smile gentle as always made the well known butterflies in your stomach start dancing. but even though, you frowned.
"you're late." you tried your best to sound stern - after all, zhongli should know when he was wrong - but your heart started to beat faster and stupidly. he chuckled at your words, walking towards you with a sly cat smile.
"my sincere apologies, my dearest." he stood in front of you, with a gentle yet playful smile. "you are very aware of how an old man like me can get distracted easily."
you raised an eyebrow and he smiled even more, with that cat-like attitude of him. finally, you sighed, dropping your stern act and smiling softly at him.
"i am afraid that if i keep forgiving you so easily, you'll get spoiled, my lord." you smiled playfully when he grimaced at the way you called him.
"oh, please. i already asked you a million times to stop calling me that." you could hear the pouty tone in his voice and it was unbelievable adorable. you couldn't hold your chuckle.
"alright, i'm sorry." you shook your head, holding your laughter in your throat. "should we take a seat, my 'love'?" you corrected yourself, feeling the slight blush in your cheeks already taking place.
he sighed with relief, putting a hand on his chest. "ah, much better." he sat down on the towel and you quickly sat next to him, your knees touching.
"i made tea, but i think it's already cold." you said, so distracted with the teapot in front of you that you didn't notice the small box in zhongli's hand.
"i brought you a gift." he said, the soft smile never leaving his lips. you turned your head towards him, your eyes widening slightly when they met the little box on his hands.
"oh, zhongli... you didn't have to." you were genuinely surprised. you knew that after he decided to set on his human life, his savings were short, but even though, he insisted in buying gifts for you.
his slender fingers hurry to open the little box, revealing the cor lapis necklace inside it. your eyes shined together with the gem.
"it's beautiful." your words came out as a whisper when you reached your hands to take the object. zhongli's smile was soft as ever, glad that you liked your gift.
"allow me to assist you." he said, slowly taking the necklace from your hands while you turned your back to him. his hands were gentle as they guided the necklace around your neck, carefully putting it on you.
your hands reached to touch the golden gem, admiring it. zhongli finished his part, his fingers pulling away from your skin.
"there it is. how do you like it?" his face was so close to your ears that you could feel his warm breath on your skin, making you hold a shiver.
"it's beautiful. i loved it." you turned your face to him, locking your eyes with his golden and gentle ones. years passed and his look hasn't changed when directed at you.
looking at your smile and at your blushing cheeks, zhongli felt his heart skipping a beat. if he wanted to do it, he had to do it now.
without a warning, he leaned in, his face millimeters far from yours, his eyes closing almost automatically. you were far too surprised to react, so you just stayed still, watching him with wide eyes as he got even closer.
soon, his lips met yours, for the first time in your life. for the first time in thousands of years. your blush was so strong that it forced your eyes to shut. you could feel his long eyelashes brushing against your cheeks.
his touch was soft and gentle, almost shy. his lips brushed against yours slowly, savoring the moment as he always did. a few seconds passed before he pulled away from you. his lips curling up into a little smile.
your eyes took a moment to open, and when they did, they met his soft and loving eyes staring directly at you. you could see a slight blush on his ears.
as you realized what had just happened, your entire face turned into a deep shade of red. rex lapis- no, zhongli had just kissed you.
"what... what was that?" you asked, hiding your face between your hands, sighing heavily in embarrassment. it's not that you didn't like it, but it was so sudden and so surprising that got your heart beating like crazy.
"that was a kiss, my dear. it is very common among the mortals." his deep voice sounded so loving that got your heart melting. his hands carefully held your wrists, pulling your hands away from your face. you looked up at him, face blushed and eyes dizzy.
"i know what a kiss is." you said simply, your voice shaking with palpable embarrassment. zhongli chuckled softly, brushing his thumb agaisnt your wrist.
"you did not like it?" he asked in genuine concern, his smile slightly getting weaker. you shook your head almost immediately.
"that's not it. i... i liked it." you forced yourself to look up at him. "it was just surprising." you said in a whisper, getting embarrassed again from your silly reaction. zhongli smiled again, relieved.
"i am glad that you liked it, my dear. perhaps we should try it again." he said in a low and caring voice, touching your knuckles with his lips. you got enough courage to push his shoulder, in a playful way.
"you'll have the death of me." a slight chuckle left from your throat.
"that can't happen, dearest." his voice sounded caring again. "i will not allow you to die on my watch." and with that, he leaned in to place a kiss on your cheek.
that day he understood why humans were so fond of kisses.

“When Y/N was still very young,” the bird adepti said, leading the boy to the so-called lair. “–they would like to play around here with Ganyu. The two of them would play a few roles similar to… Mermaids. If one can still remember.”
     —   Dear lord. It took a short time for Cloud Retainer to spill all the little secrets you’ve had during your childhood. Her beak just can't be kept shut. She’s very noisy, often putting more emphasis on the embarrassing moments. Though she claims that she’s just sharing your childhood with your boyfriend–is that so bad?
     —   You were too late. Ga ming was already smiling along with Cloud Retainer, sitting comfortably on the stone chair and chatting away. Your cheeks flush as the adepti greets you, telling you to drink some tea as she recounts your failure of a camping trip where you woke up and saw a hilichurl sitting by your campfire.
     —   Honestly? Ga ming doesn't find it embarrassing at all. His family would’ve done the same, always showing baby pictures, his achievements as a kid, even the moments where he first saw the dance that inspired him. There he was, just a little kid smiling wide.
     —   The embarrassment didn’t last too long. Your curiosity about things you forgot in your childhood was stronger, you found out a few things that happened before that you don’t recall at all.
“I can get used to this.” He says, laughing. You’re still a little mad at Cloud Retainer for sharing those things, but it doesn’t matter if he feels a little closer to you.
“I can’t. Please don’t ever do that again–” Your voice is a little quiet. Ga ming smiles at you, gives you a playful punch and tells you its fine, because Cloud Retainer looks like she had the time of her life.
You’ll let this go in the future, this whole situation healed your inner child anyway.

Adepti sibling to Xiao? YES PLEASE! Oh I can imagine it! A dendro adeptus making flower crowns or trying to and Xiao accidentally blowing them away resulting in a huffy sibling. Or a cryo sibling sticking their hands imbued with cryo to Xiao’s back. Hehe shenanigans
— DENDRO / CRYO YAKSHA READER
dendro yaksha who makes flower crowns for all their siblings. xiao gets the prettiest because he's your favorite (dont tell the others!).
dendro yaksha who, like their siblings, hopes to live the mortal life after the war! they dream of sharing flowers with everyone, maybe even opening a shop!
cryo yaksha who adores making it snow in sunny liyue! who was the very reason xiao tends to eat snow (add a little sweet syrup, and it becomes a great treat!).
cryo yaksha who especially loves cuddling up to their siblings! being able to embrace them, cool skin on warm skin. the sensation makes the moment feel real, a reminder that you're not alone in the war.
dendro yaksha whose karmic debt overtakes them. they wilt like the flowers on their head. it's slow, almost unnoticeable, but the other siblings start noticing the way you slowly fall apart. you once reassured them that death wouldn't be so terrible if you could live through the nature you so love using the remnants of your power— but even that was taken away from you the day your karmic debt left nothing but a withered corpse, one that couldn't even be used for fertilizer.
cryo yaksha who started freezing everything uncontrollably. whose karmic debt turned their fingertips numb, and eventually everything else. you feared touch, you feared yourself and the eternal ice you created. you couldn't –wouldn't– let your siblings hold you for comfort even when they wanted to (and xiao really really wanted to. indarias especially argued her being pyro could take it). in the end, you froze even yourself. whether it was intentional or uncontrolled, they would never know.

content: Angst(?), noctilucous jade!adeptus!reader, amnesia, mentions of broken body part(s), gender-neutral reader. Zhongli x reader.
a/n: Noctilucous Jade!reader is here again. They're so easy to write angst for, lol. I might do another part with different characters later, but no promise.
Tumblr media
Their memories (and presumably their personalities) are stored within the gemstone that makes up their bodies. As such, losing any part of their body will result in some memory loss. Their lost body parts can be replaced with other materials as long as they are compatible.
"I'm sorry, do I know you?"
Zhongli was stunned by your response. Briefly, he wonders if this was one of your jokes, since you seems to be fond of playing pranks and jokes lately.
"Well, I didn't think you would forget about me in a span of a week, lustrous one." Zhongli said, searching for a hint of laughter you usually can't quite hide from him. You were rather an expressive person for a living gem, after all.
This time though, instead of smiling cheekily like he expected you to do, a look of frustration crossed your face instead. Your eyebrows were drawing closer to each other, as if trying so hard to think about something.
"Oh… You're one of those people that I forgot, huh?"
Zhongli could feel his heart drops to his stomach as you said those words. You must've got into a terrible fight sometime after meeting him last week. A fight where you lost so much of your pieces that you even forgot about him. That would explain Shitou's frantic nature when he passed by his stall a few days ago.
While this wasn't the first time it happened, it saddens him that these bouts of forgetfulness would occur more and more. Between losing parts of yourself in battle and battling the Erosion, Zhongli feared the day that you wouldn't even remember yourself anymore.
'Well, no matter.' Zhongli thought as he smiled and reintroduced himself.
Zhongli can just accompany you a bit more often this time. To make sure you wouldn't encounter any more fights that made you lose yourself even more.
And even if you forget about himself again, he can reintroduce himself to you, over and over.

zhongli x adeptus!reader
cw: fem!reader, hu tao knows zhongli is rex lapis, very self-indulgent, inspired by me standing on the statue and thinking 'hey that looks kinda cool', not proofread, written while watching markiplier
word count: 472
Tumblr media
in liyue, it wasn't as uncommon as one might think to find a statue of rex lapis that seemed a bit... off. if one wasn't paying attention, one might not notice at all. it was a small difference, yet it was one that had huge implications.
on statues of rex lapis in both dihua marsh and mingyun village, there can be a feminine figure found on the deity's side. other notable differences with these statues, is rex lapis' posture. the cube he once held in his right hand now rests in his left. his once occupied right hand now resides on the woman's waist, an extremely important detail for historians.
the widely believed theory among the citizens of liyue was that they were lovers, much to historians' dismay. they were appalled at the sheer lack of reasoning people put to their decisions. when asked why they jumped to such conclusions, one girl had the audacity to giggle, "i just think its a cute idea!" she said. the two akadeymia researchers surveying her practically had their jaws to the floor.
the rather tall man next to her looked just as shocked. "...cute? director-"
hu tao continued, ignoring the looks, "imagine the ever stoic and knowledgeable rex lapis with someone who cares for him. not because he's an archon, but because they truly love him. seems like a story worth telling, no?"
the researchers mumbled to each other, "too bad our essay isn't on baseless tales..." unseen by the students, the tips of zhongli's ears reddened a bit at the funeral parlor director's words. "mr zhongli! you seem to be a knowledgeable and reasonable man. what is your take on the special statues?"
the man coughed, slightly off guard, "well," his long pause caused a slight anxiety to wash through the air, "i, too, think that they were lovers. not for the reasons the director did, mind you, but for... ah, for personal reasons." the researchers gave him a quizzical look, one that made the redness of his ears creep slowly towards his face.
"personal... reasons? i- i shan't press you about the matter since you seem to not want to share. if that's all the two of you have to say, we will take our leave. thank you for the opportunity."
as the researchers left, a woman ran past them, "zhongli! li!" and when reaching the man whom she was calling out to, she casually linked arms with him and waved at hu tao.
"dear, you really needn't be so loud." he continued talking after y/n mumbled a quick 'sorry', "no need to be sorry, y/n. by the way, those akadeymia students were inquiring about you."
she sighed, "the statues? i knew those weren't a good idea, they cause so much debate among humans."
"debate is healthy!" hu tao chimed in.

Tumblr media
“Hmph!” The cluttering of old metal crashed onto the ground, swirls of anemo slowly disappearing into wind that sung in the night. The bright light of a yaksha masked shimmered against a slender figure, the light vanishing before it even came. The sounds of hushed pants and silent suffering were swallowed by the calm stillness that now surrounded deceased monsters. A weapon of Jade lowered its way to rest securely on the ground, the wielder raising a gloved hand to gaze upon the rough edges of his work. “It’s… becoming too much.” The figure called, hand finding its way onto their forehead as they struggled to contain the negative energy that coursed through their veins. The figure was weak and let itself succumb to the blinding rage and sorrowful emotions that plagued its soul for thousands of years, begging to be saved from its suffering.
And that silent call for help was answered.
Tumblr media
“Hah!” The man jerked away, chest heaving heavily, shaky hands coming to rest against his head. It was at this moment he realized his gloves were no longer on, revealing the subtle black claws he had. There was also the fact that he was shirtless, his wounds covered pristinely with white covering and padding. “Where… Where am I?” He rose himself up on the bed and took a moment to collect his surroundings. The jade spear he wielded sat perfectly against the wall, gloves and top neatly folded on the nightstand next to the spear. A noise alerted him from outside of the room he was in. He was quick to begin moving, too exhausted to use the energy to teleport.
“Are you awake, sir?” The sound of a woman put his worries at ease a bit, but he remained vigilant and on guard. He was in the confides of a stranger’s house, most likely somewhere in Liyue, with no memories of what had happened before he blacked out. You were the one that entered his room. A small plate of Almond Tofu was in your hands along with some iced water. A smile carved onto your face seeing the individual sitting up and awake. “Ah good, I’m glad to see you’re doing better. I brought you some food and water.” The man did not sense hostility from you and lowered his guard as you approached him with the meal. He had the most gorgeous honey-amber eyes, clearly of an illuminated beast, suspected of avian characteristics due to his sharp eyes and tattoo gracing his right arm. His pale lips turned into a frown at the way you approached him so calmly and carelessly. “What’s your name? My name is (Y/N), and you’re in my hut on Mt. Hulao.”
“…you carried me all the way here?” The man disregarded your question and instead decided to question how in the world a mortal carried an adeptus all the way from Guili Plains all the way to Mt. Hulao, not to mention traveling at night when monsters were around every corner. You only smiled at his question, setting down the almond tofu on the nightstand, “I did indeed, sir. Now, answer my question-” Your voice dropped slightly as you lowered your head and gazed at him through thick lashes. “-What is your name?” The adeptus rose his guard once more hearing the tone of your voice morph into one of slight hostility. You couldn’t merely be a mortal, you had to be some sort of adeptus as well in order to carry him all the way here without help. “I was kind enough to welcome you in my home, tend to your injuries, and carry you all the way across Liyue. I think it’s courteous to at least address yourself as I am helping you.”
“I did not need help from a mortal.” He was testing your answer, studying the way your body moved as you inched closer towards him. He shifted his hand quickly, trying to reach for his polearm in his weakened state. Alas he wasn’t fast enough in this state and you grabbed it before he could. Your fingers twirled the polearm around your figure before slamming the butt into the floor. The sudden movements caused the adeptus’ eyes to widen in surprise, his body stiffening. “You sure are arrogant for a yaksha plagued by immense amounts of karmic debt built up. Don’t be a fool, Xiao.” How the hell did you know his name? Who exactly are you and how were you even able to lift his jaded spear? His senses were on high alert now. “Cloud Retainer warned me you could be a bit... rash. I was right to take precautions when bringing you here.”
“Who are you? And how do you know my name and that of the other Adepti?” Xiao questioned, frustration and irritation obvious in the way his tone and expression changed. You smiled and handed him his spear back before picking up the almond tofu and setting it on his lap. “As I said, my name is (Y/N). You’re in my hut in the mountains. I apologize for my hostility earlier; monsters have been increasingly becoming smarter in their trickery. I needed to confirm your identity, which you failed.” The adeptus’ honey-amber eyes gazed down at the plate of almond tofu in his lap now, his tongue eager to taste and feel the squishy goodness now. His hands hesitated before picking up the spoon and taking a mouthful. He needn’t worry about poison due to his adepti blood. “I’m an adeptus healer. I’ve resided here for hundreds of years in the mountains perfecting my technique. Cloud Retainer has also taught me much about medicine for adepti and proper care. I only know of you through conversation with her and Rex Lapis. Oh, and that you like Almond Tofu.”
“You… know Rex Lapis? How is it I do not know of you? You look more like a mortal than an adepti…” You laughed at his question, his eyes never once coming to meet yours. This must all be very surprising to him. You rose from the bed to sit in a chair beside the bed, easing your back against the cushioned chair and recalling your story. “That’s because I’m only half adepti, just like Ms. Ganyu… however…” Your tone softened, causing the full-blooded adeptus to stop in his tracts and place the spoon down before looking over at you. He watched carefully as your hand rose, studying the contexts of your skin and muscle. “I did not obtain immortality; I only received a prolonged life with the inevitable promise of demise.”
“A blessing and a curse, it seems.” The room fell silent after Xiao had said those words. The gentle pitter patter of rain hit the roof of your small hut, causing your figure to rise out of the chair and excuse yourself. The air seemed oddly tense and uncomfortable now, making the adeptus reflect over his words. “I-I’m sorry…” The words that fell from his lips were swallowed by the rain, never to your reach your deafened ears to his apology. The lone yaksha was now left alone once more. His ears filled with the sound of rain and the distant sound of your faint cries. The almond tofu had lost its once sweet and savory taste, not that he focused on the flavor anyways. The bitterness began to invade his mouth from his heart. He knew all too well the blessing and the curse laid upon him of being an immortal being. Death was something he dealt with daily, never having a means of escape. Despite the downsides… he got to watch how the world grew and see the benefits of his hard work. The world would forever be changing and prosperous, but what was that world without those you love to share it with you?
The karmic debt that plagued his soul was more bearable that night, his silent call for help answered by someone who also needed their own kind of saving. A mortal being with a prolonged lifespan would see many people they care for die, many live on prosperous, and some immortal, bearing the sorrow of your passing. It was the reason you distanced yourself so much from any other interaction. Any relationship you had with the adepti or Rex Lapis was strictly professional, choosing to lock yourself in your hut, fend off any monsters that dared to tread on your home. It made your mind easier to accept your fate to die one day, but it did not cure any loneliness that bubbled from your chest despite the anxious thoughts of losing those close to you and fearing the future. No one would remember your life or mourn your death as if you had been friends for centuries. You were no one special.
You quietly sat crying, wishing to be normal, wishing someone was there to comfort you.
Tumblr media
The adeptus had rested for the night, amber eyes slowly opening to find himself still in the warm and safe confides of your home. He rose carefully, observing his wounds and his surroundings once more in the light of morning. Two pills and a plate of berries sat on the nightstand next to him, along with a vase of freshly picked Qingxin flowers. His clothes once traumatized by battle were stitch fixed and cleaned, a symbol of newfound purity. There was no sign of you anywhere in his room, and he couldn’t sense your presence anywhere close by. Xiao recalled the way you removed yourself from his presence to silently cry amongst the dead of night, hushed by the beating rain. He rose and hesitantly took the medicine, ate a few of the berries, and ran his now gloved hands over the soft and delicate petals of the flowers.
“…” He remained quiet while observing the flowers. They always appreciated solitude in the mountains or upon high cliffs, gazing at the beauty of the world and reaching for the sky, comforted by warmth or cool winds of the night. His gaze moved to his jaded spear, sparkling and clean, polished with the purest material to cleanse the evil that lingered amongst the blade. A sigh slipped past his lips, touching the spear as it vanished before his eyes, ready to summon at any moment. His eyelids slowly began to lower to black his vision, focusing hard, before vanishing into a cloud of teal and blackened mist before he finally found you again outside, silently teleporting behind you to observe your actions.
You were quietly picking at your garden for ingredients to use in your medicine. Xiao was thankful for the quiet atmosphere, his mind at ease and not troubled with having to make small talk with anyone. “Good morning, Xiao. How do you feel this morning?” Ah, unfortunately he failed to consider the fact that you were half-human, a more sociable species. He let out a soft grunt in response to your question, looking away from your frame before laying his eyes on the outlook that you had from the mountains. He could even see Wangshu Inn from up here, a perfect view of Liyue and all its many beauties. “I guess I’ll take that as a good. I know Adepti don’t need sleep, but they do need rest. Fatigue is unavoidable no matter the species.”
“…I… want to apologize for what I said last night. I admit, I was ignorant of your feelings.” Xiao’s gaze returned to your figure, honing in on the way your body tensed in remembrance. Your body slumped slightly, sighing heavily before standing up to turn to him. It was now he could see how wounded you were. There is a limp in the way you walked, a large gash along your arm that had been expertly sewn up. Bruises littered your arms, rough scrapes to your hands. Did he do that to you when he lost control? How did he not notice these wounds last night? “Was I… the cause of your injuries?” You shook your head slightly, not wanting him to worry about your battle you had with him when he lost control. He could see through your lie easily, throwing a tense glare and showing off a disappointed frown. “It’s pointless to lie, there is nothing for you to gain or lose in a situation like this.”
“I was trying to spare your emotions any turmoil over causing harm to the innocent. You Yakshas already have dealt with enough in this world, revenge and anger is not something I plan to enact upon you.” Why? Why were you being so kind to him after he had harmed you so badly? You could’ve suffered death at his hands. “I am a full-blooded adeptus, my feelings are not an important matter to worry about. I swore to Rex Lapis to protect Liyue from the monsters and demons that inhabit the land. I am no more than a weapon. That is my contract. This includes you. Inflicting harm on you is-“ Your hand rose to stop him from finishing his sentence, which he reluctantly obliged to. You adjusted the contents of your basket to organize the ingredients before turning back to him. “I am the one who engaged in combat with you. I attacked you first. I… had to break the mask off to save you. I don’t regret that decision if it meant helping you.”
“…I…” Words fell short in his throat, not knowing what to say in response to your proclamation of assault. You willingly went out of your way to save someone you did not know, suffering grave injuries as a result of your efforts. “Xiao.” The way his name rolled off your tongue in such a delicate voice, talking to him as if he was the most fragile thing in the world. That tone you held made his body shiver, it was such an unfamiliar feeling, yet it was strangely comforting. “Your life… is treasured and valued each day, whether you know it or not. The people… need you. They need your protection and kindness.” You approached him, his body oddly relaxed feeling you come closer towards him. He did not have the urge to push you away like others. He instead sat still, watching closely as your hands lowered to set the basket of ingredients down.
“Immortality is a blessing and a curse, as you mentioned yesterday.” Your warmth invaded his personal space, your soft hands raising near his face. He flinched away slightly, not being used to someone wanting to physically touch him. It was dangerous. His karmic debt could invade your soul if you got too close. His worries were vanquished by your hands slowly moving the long strand of dark green hair from his face. “I wish for you to keep living Xiao. I want you… to rid yourself one day of the debt that builds in your soul-“ That was impossible. This karmic debt inside of him would always continue to grow every time he vanquished an enemy. But he could only hope. He continued to listen to your soft voice, his hand slowly raising near yours, unsure why his body was reacting this way. “-and live your life… for yourself, and not the will of others.”
The yaksha’s eyes widened as he gently grasps your hand, slowly pulling it away from his face. He lowered it down as he continued to stare at you. It was then and there he realized how much of his life he had lived serving other people. He was conditioned by an unnamed god to kill and devour dreams; he served Rex Lapis due to his undying loyalty and dedication to him after he was saved. The decisions in his life were his and his alone, what exactly did you mean by that? He wanted to ask so badly. It was as if you read his mind, sensing the confusion in his expression. “What I mean is… don’t be afraid of the world, or the changes that start to come. Embrace and cherish those you have… and live on for the ones you mourn. Trust me, I know from experience. Don’t live with regrets or doubts.”
“…you don’t know anything about me. You are merely a mortal.” Yet you knew him so well. You saw through and crushed every single wall he had built over the years he’d been serving as protector of the land. You were just an adepti hybrid, lonely and sorrowful here in the mountains by yourself, only ever being called upon when your services were needed. He was the same way. When his name was called, he was at the beck and call to serve. “But…” He stepped one step closer, closer than you were previously, pulling one of the Qingxin flowers from his belt that he took from the room he was staying in. He gave it to you as a parting gift. “I know the troubles of being alone without someone… to be beside. Call out my name when you feel this way. I’ll be there. I will… return when I am in need of rest or healing too. You… make the pain go away. Let me ease your pain too. A-And indulge in some almond tofu…”
Your laugh made his face become oddly warm, making his heart thump against his chest. “I’ll make you as much almond tofu as you want then… as payment… for being with me.”
“Hmm, goodbye… (Y/N).”
He vanished, leaving you in your lonesome again, but it different this time. It was comfortable, and serine. You could feel your heart thumping against your chest as your cheeks rose in color at his call of your name. Over the past 600 years… you’d lived alone in your home in the mountains, making herbs for the adepti, submitting research to Baizhu, and occasionally selling your mountain-grown ingredients for medicine. You barely interacted with anyone, no one to comfort you. Yes, you distanced yourself on purpose, but when you met Xiao, all of that changed. You saw yourself in him and realized just how important it was to live every day to the fullest as if it’s your last. The wind combed its chilly fingers along your hair, causing your eyes to instinctively shift up towards the beautiful pure clouds that hang over Liyue. You would no longer fear the unknown, and no longer be confined to your doubts or regrets. Your silent call for a savior, came in the form of a quiet and cautious yaksha.
“Thank you… for saving me… Xiao.”

WITH ONE FINAL STATEMENT, YOU WERE HIS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zhongli x Fem!Reader 4.7K words Content Warning: Implied Smut, Fluff, Friends to Lovers, Platonic!Guizhong & Morax, Xiao lmao, Mentions of the Archon war, Mute Traveler, Reader has an Adeptus name, My horrible gramma
Summary(?): So, I decided to make an alt genshin account and through inspiration of the Liyue archon quest- this takes place during the rite of parting, in which Zhongli sends the traveler to collect the Cleansing Bell from an old friend. And Soon relives his memory with said old friend.
Further: I gave more lore to the cleansing bell, I couldn't find much information about it in game but if anything is wrong or not culturally correct, let me know and Im more then happy to change it.
Update: This was written well before the current lantern rite. The lore of the cleansing bell has been expanded upon in game and doesn’t completely align with the story anymore so keep that in mind. For purposes I'll be using Aether as a placeholder for the traveler.
Tumblr media
Zhongli, up until this point, had been quite hands on with the ongoing preparation of the upcoming Rite of Parting, its the reason why both Aether and Paimon had been so taken aback by the mans sudden hesitance to continue with the proceedings.
Instead of approaching head on and indulging a bargain before realizing he'd forgotten his mora once again- as he'd done before, this time, Zhongli had sent the two on their way to meet with what he'd proclaimed to be 'an old friend', alone.
A Bell, he'd mentioned- they were meant to be collecting a bell, a bell that for some reason required a trip all the way to the Wangshu inn.
Paimon had been quick to mention her suspicions to Aether on their travels there, that she really thought Mr. Zhongli just wasn't willing to make the trip.
But on arrival at the inn, and in meeting with said person, that suspicion was quickly thrown out the window, in which a new theory was set in place. Zhongli was undoubtedly terrified of this woman.
A beaming yet soothing laugh sounded the balcony of the inn as the information was relayed to the unknown woman, your eyes alight with mischief at the duos words and it was slowly becoming clearer why Zhongli was so weary to meet with you.
“Oh so it was Zhongli who sent you, hm? He’s quite the bossy one isn't he.” Your expression fluttered with a glint of something quite fond, and then to one of humor. You were definitely someone to be reckoned with, that was clear from your embellished outfit to your stunning features and well tended hair. It wasn't until Aether had glanced down to the vision attached to your clothes that he found himself ogling a little.
"Well, by the mention of his name, I'd guess it was about time I was to give up my possession of the cleansing bell." Your expression seemed to drop just slightly, a saddened yet longingly content gaze capturing your face. "I assume thats what you're here for?"
Aether's head nodded as the words left your mouth, to which you found yourself sighing. The sound was bittersweet but quickly swept away by the soft wind that brushed against the 3rd floor of the inn. It seemed the wind mourned with you too.
"This bell hold's great significance to the development of Liyue. I think more importantly It holds great significance to me." You seemed to suddenly be lost in the memory of your experiences, eyes boring straight through the traveller and his companion as you spoke. "Were you aware that this bell has been through countless generations? No? This little piece of metal has seen the prospects of war and felt the elation of peace more then any other person in Liyue has. Its older then the building we stand on."
"Wow, is everyone in Liyue as oddly knowledgeable as Zhongli and yourself? You both seem to love talking about the history of Liyue.” Paimon suddenly interjected.
“Knowledgeable is one way of putting it. I guess i just take interest in the historical arts.” Your tone had once again shifted, this time taking on the mischievous ring it held before. Aether once again shifted his eyes to his traveling companion, who seemed as equally taken aback by the lady before them. You were a roller coaster of topics and Paimon was beginning to become overwhelmed by the atmosphere. Zhongli was odd enough but you were making it a lot harder to keep up.
“Can we just get the Bell already! What are you even doing at the Wangshu inn anyways?! You knew the bell was needed for the Rite yet here you are, chatting away!”
The way Paimon had quickly become overwhelmed had humored you, and you found yourself chuckling at her nature. "My reason for being here is quite simple- I'm here visiting a friend. The rite is precisely why I chose to be here in the first place. Lets just say, this friend isn't taking too kindly to the news of our late archons passing."
"Fine." Paimon huffed, "Fair enough." and with an extended hand she grunted, "The bell."
Your eyes dropped to the little fairy's extended hand for a moment, a smile gracing your features at her attitude. “How about this," You bid. "I give you the Bell and in exchange you deliver a message to Zhongli for me. Tell him to put his pride aside and visit an old friend would he?”
Paimons face was practically red at this point, stomping childishly at the demand. She was quickly become fed up with your roundabout attitude. “You're seriously gonna make us set up a date for you and Zhongli to hang out in exchange for the Bell!? We’re not match makers you know!”
To which your laugh sounded loud over the balcony, her words amusing you as the realization dawned on you. This little thing is a little slow isn't she. “Oh sweet thing believe me, I wouldn’t need to set up a meeting with Zhongli through mutuals. Lets just say, Zhongli and I meet quite frequently. No, this friend is someone far more special then I, and unfortunately someone that’s quite hard to get through to. I tried to calm him today but it seems like the only person who can truly set his mind at ease is Zhongli himself.”
“You meet with Zhongli quite… frequently? Then deliver the message yourself!" Paimons anger was finally getting to her, a feat which Aether had picked up. You'd noticed that throughout the conversation the boy had been silently laughing to himself, finally taking a step in with a chuckle to lay a deterrent hand on Paimon's back, to which she sighed "Fine. we’ll deliver the message.”
“Exceptional." You declared. The two watched as you wandered off for a moment before returning with a well ornamented bell, shaded a black and golden ombre. It was a beautiful peace of art that was carefully handed off to Aether with a gentle hand. "Then you best be on your way. Be sure to send off my message and do take care of the bell. Like I mentioned, it holds great significance to me.”
The few days following the encounter with the strange woman, the traveller and his companion had experienced what could only be described as true chaos, but after a long and tiresome battle, and the astonishing news that the man they'd been helping was the Geo Archon himself, the two finally found themselves reveling in the settling peace of the city.
The current ambience was that of content, and the people seemed to be a little less tense now that the Rite of Parting had came and passed. The city had found its most still moment in weeks and the traveller found that atmosphere to be something to soak in. That was until a high pitched screech disturbed said serenity.
Aether's eyes widened as he turned to glance at his companion, who was suddenly seething through her teeth at something in front of her.
"That-! That-! Oooh!" Glancing off towards where Paimon was looking, it was then Aether noticed two distinguishable figures walking side by side through the undisturbed harbor- the man they now recognized as the former Geo Archon, and the strange but pretty woman in which they'd briefly encountered at Wangshu inn.
The boys mind couldn't help but wander to a state of intrigue, curious as to how the two knew each other, let alone enough to be enjoying a quite personal stroll around the harbor, but ultimately decided to let the curiosity fizzle and allow the two peace away from disturbance. All until Paimon's seething little figure dashed straight past him and towards the two conversing figures.
At this, Aether was quick on his feet, following his little friend with wide eyes.
“‘The friend I refer to is not myself,’ Paimon's ass! You did just want us to set up a date for Zhongli and yourself!”
Paimon came to a stop in front of the two, Zhongli's eyes darting towards the two with his usual carefree pleased smile, while you, on the other hand, seemed a little more peeved by the interruption.
“Oh Traveller, Paimon, a pleasant surprise indeed.” Zhongli's voice was as smooth as silk, no different from his usual charms. Notably, Zhongli had purposefully disregarded Paimons anger, probably aware that she was less then happy with the both of them at the moment.
"First, you," She pointed an accusatory finger towards Zhongli, "Make us run all over Liyue for your own funeral. Not even dead may Paimon add. And then you-!" This time her finger was directed towards you. "You lied to us! You really were making us play matchmaker!"
Paimon ended her statement with crossed arms and creased brows, to which Aether stood close behind rubbing the back of his head with an apologetic smile towards the two.
At this, you laugh, smiling towards Paimon with what she regarded to be a usual charm for you. “No little one, I really did mean it when I said that Zhongli and I met quite often. The message truly was for the benefit of a friend.”
“Correct," Zhongli interjected with a smile. "I visited Xiao at the request of Y/n here, It seemed she was right, he really did need the company. This current walk is unrelated to your previous conversation.”
“What, so you two are just taking a 'friendly walk’ around Liyue for the hell of it?”
At this, the two smiled at each other with glinting eyes.
It was silent for a moment as Paimon digested the information presented to her and it was then she finally came to her conclusion. These two truly were odd. But on further thought, Paimon thought about how odd you seemed. You were friends with an Adeptus, nae- a Yaksha for that, close enough to be contacting him without issue at Wangshu Inn, now walking around Liyue with the former Geo Archon, and more importantly- you were the one in possession of the Cleansing Bell- an extremely ancient and sacred piece of Liyue's history. Who were you?
“Okay, but by ‘meeting’ Paimon hadn't imagined you meant nice little evening strolls! She thought you meant business meetings! For work! If Paimon wern't mistaken paimon would think you two were dating!”
“Dating?" Zhonglis voice was humorous as he chuckled towards the girl. "Well I sure’d hope so, considering we’re married and all.”
A silence befell the four, both Zhongli and yourself smiling with content and mischief, and the latter two both staring along with wide eyes and dropped jaws.
“Married!?….” Paimons gaze towards Zhongli was as sharp as knives. "So you're telling me you both are married?! And neither of you thought to tell either of us?!" Paimon thought about it for a moment before her eyes went wide at a thought that graced her, and with a small voice she whispered to Zhongli. "D-Does she know?!"
Zhonglis eyes glanced down, a knowing look plastered his face and a smile gracing his soft features. “Paimon, Traveller, I'd told you the cleansing bell was an important part of Liyues Adepti parting traditions but had I ever told you the story and the significance of the Cleansing Bell?”
At this, the two shake their heads.
“Well, the bell is quite a special sentiment in the history of Liyue.
In ancient times, specifically times of the Archon war, the bell was notoriously known to only be given to those in which Rex Lapis himself held a great amount of trust in. It was used as a means to cleanse the mortal realm, and with such power, came the need for a trusted individual to guard it.
"You can't hold possession of that thing forever." Ghuizhong's voice was light against the still air of Guili Plains, the two walking side by side on their way towards a town not too far from the main city. There was a war coming, and in turn business to be done.
"It can't be trusted on anyone else. It's too important. It holds the power to cleanse the mortal realm, and in the wrong hands... well."
"The wrong hands?" Guizhong chuckled in dismay. "You have people you can trust with your life, but no one you can trust with that little bell?"
"It's... significant to me."
Morax's tone was final and at this Guizhong looked sideways, eyeing the expression of the man beside her as they walked. He seemed tense, jaw clenched and eyes glowing a slight golden color. She realized that maybe he'd had an experience before hand, a negative one that lead to the betrayal of trust and maybe even the loss of a life.
That was the moment Guizhong realized that the bell truly wasn't just a bell, at least not to Rex Lapis, and maybe pressing on it wasn't intelligent. She was Rex Lapis' advisor, which meant she knew his temperament and his boundaries. This definitely seemed like one.
Though what wasn't a boundary...
"Alright... But who's to say you can't find someone. You and Acestia seem close."
"Guizhong, stop that." For the first time on this short trip, Guizhong truly laughed.
"What? Just pointing out a fact."
"I don't want to hear this again. You're delusional and quite annoying."
Once again she laughed.
"Guizhong please, I won't hesitate to leave you here."
Rex lapis held the bell in his position for hundreds of years, never trusting anyone enough to hand off the possession to guard. Sure he had people he loved- trusted in battle- trusted with his life. But the bell wasn't just a matter of spears and willpower. It was a matter of serenity and eternal peace. Morax's polearm clashed against that of your own, grunts sounding as you spun around, gliding your weapon against the handle of his own until it fell free from his lock and ready for you to charge again. Morax grinned at your efforts, proud of the way you'd freed yourself from a dire situation without hesitation.
"Good job, smart and quick, don't let yourself be cornered." He commented.
Finally he let off, letting his pole arm hang low as indication that he was pleased with your work for today. "This is a war Acestia, you may be a Yaksha so you may be one of the strongest, but anything goes in war. You must be ready."
With a swift nod, you bowed your head low in respect and smiled. "I understand, and I appreciate the sentiment Lord Geo."
Morax stood for a second, arms low by his side, pole arm firmly between his hand, upper body on full display as he stared down at your bowing form. His hood had fallen during the sparring match you both had indulged in and sweat gleamed his body as a result. You stood quietly, awaiting a dismissal but it never came.
It took a moment, but finally he spoke. "Acestia. What is it you're fighting for?"
Without a moment between, you spoke firmly. "You, Rex Lapis."
"No." His voice was firm, purposeful. And for that your head snapped up, polearm drooping besides you as you glanced on in confusion. Morax looked upon your furrowed eyebrows and noticed how innocently pretty you looked in that moment. Hm. Then he clarified. "What is it you're fighting for."
You let the question digest for a moment, blinking up at the archon with doe eyes as you thought about the answer. What were you fighting for? It took a moment to find your voice, but soon you'd straitened, your illustrious outfit shifting with your bold movements.
"Me? Well, I guess I'm fighting for peace- fighting for an era of serenity. For prosperity and safety to all whom inhabit this land.” Morax observed the sudden glint in your eye as the words escaped your mouth, a response he’d noticed had been pondered upon for quite some time. “I don't want the people I protect to suffer anymore. When I made a contract with you, I made a contract with Liyue- No, a promise. To protect this land and bring tranquillity to this generation, and every generation to come. I do fight for you Rex Lapis, because I fight for Liyue."
Rex Lapis seemed surprised… yet content at your words. It was a response he hadn’t been expecting, but a response he was satisfied with nonetheless. It was the moment he’d realised you’d truely come a long way from the cowering soul he’d found, to one of his most prized Yaksha.
The moment of stillness kept you on your toes, ciphering his expression with a clouded mind, pondering the idea that maybe you’d been just a little bit too passionate in your response. But he finally nodded in approval, and turned his head to the side, indicating that you were dismissed and free to leave as you pleased. Taking the signal, with a shallow bow and your polearm firmly between your fingers, you turned in your spot and made your way over towards Alatus, who had been waiting silently for the sparring match between you and your god to end.
Morax’s eyes followed you as you approached your fellow Yaksha, observing as you smiled wide towards him and initiated a cheerful conversation, in which Alatus had nodded and sent an attentive smile as indication that he acknowledged your words, before bowing in respect towards Rex Lapis, a bow in which Morax swiftly returned. Finally you two both pivoted, Alatus leading the both of you towards the rest of the Yaksha all conversing just a lengths away.
Morax watched as you approached the group, slowly descending to sit on the grass besides Alatus and Bonanus, being swayed into a laugh by something Bosacius had boast about. It was in that moment Morax’s morale felt almost swayed for just a moment. There you were, spouting all the exact words he’d been waiting to hear for decades, slowly tempting him to trust you through your inspiring willpower and heartening morality.
Suddenly, his mind had come to from his thoughts for a moment, and it was only then he’d realised his hand had seemingly subconsciously made its way towards the bell, caressing the material as he watched you interact with your friends. You were starting to become a reoccurring theme in his life- and with this, he turned from his position and made his way off the grass field -And he wasn’t sure if he was too apposed to the idea either.
It was to be guarded by someone Rex Lapis trusted not with his life but with his nation, and that a person he'd never found. That was until an old comrade of his suddenly wasn’t much of a comrade anymore. The war had been raging for so long, he'd hardly remembered the date anymore. A sea of red mirages the landscape of Liyue, rocks carved by his own fingers stained with the blood of his enemies. Rex Lapis heaves a breath as he finds the strength to pull his polearm out of the chest of whichever poor soul had challenged him with intent, finally finding a moment to take a look at his fellow comrades- his Yaksha's fighting beside him.
There he'd find his people, eyes glancing over each one of his 6 Yaksha's- first was Bosacius, releasing an array of attacks upon enemy immortals. Then he'd noticed Bonanus and Indaris fighting side by side, soon was Menogias swiftly dodging a sharp attack and then Alatus plowing though enemies with his jade spear gleaming.
Finally his eyes glanced towards her. You. Vision gleaming and skin coated with a layer of sweat as you swung your spear out of one enemy and straight into another, finally clearing the last of them in your immediate surrounding area. At the moment of calm, you found a second to collect yourself, wiping the splatter of blood that had landed upon your face. It was a deep blue color, unlike the blood you'd been expecting to see and it took a moment to remember that these enemies weren't human. They were just like you.
It was almost as if, the madness of it all had fully consumed you for just a moment, the madness of the war, the fighting, the idea of killing adepti just like yourself. that was until you felt the gleaming gaze boring into the side of your body. In a split moment your eyes had snapped up, making direct eye contact with the man you were here to protect, your god, your diety, your purpose. And everything seemed to snap into place all of a sudden.
Rex Lapis' eyes found yours, and he'd almost let the shock he felt at how tormented your face looked for a moment consume him, if he hadn't taken complete notice of the way his heart fluttered when you looked at him instead. It was as if he was enraptured by you, in that moment all he could see was you.
The screaming of adepti, the weight of his pole arm, the blood on your face, on your clothes, on your hands - he was blind to it all, all except you. Archons, how hadn't he noticed you before, you were absolutely breathtaking and he was stupid for not seeing it before. For the first time he supposed, Guizhong was right.
In that moment, he'd realized that he might have found something he'd finally want to pursue that wasn't bloodshed, maybe he'd play his cards right and try his luck with you. You who's eyes were gleaming at him with wonder. You, who stood drenched in the blood of his enemies, protecting him and his nation. You, who suddenly raised your spear above your shoulder with murderous intent and launched it forward with as much force pummeling straight towards him.
What?!
Morax's eyes finally fleet from your glowing form and followed as the spear suddenly blew straight past and into the chest of a man beside him, watching as he dropped to the ground along with a sword that clattered before him. He stared for a moment before glancing back up to you suddenly before him, hands running down his shirtless figure and along his golden arms searching for any wounds.
The other yaksha's had taken note of the situation and were currently making their way towards the two of you in extreme worry for their god. In the meantime you were doting over him with an extremely worried expression yourself, sputtering words of fear for his health and berating him for not being more aware of his surroundings, yet all he could focus on was the lingering touch of your hands against his body and how amazing the reaction his body gave felt. Oh yeah, Guizhong was definitely right. And he was gonna be trying his luck with you.
Someone he'd fought alongside, someone he'd christened a warrior - a yaksha - with his own two hands, someone he'd renamed and given a new life to suddenly wasn't just a loyal worshipper anymore.
"No longer are you to be commanded by demons, from now on you are a vigilant Yaksha fighting for the protection of Liyue. You are, Acestia."
As the man bestowed your new name upon you, you couldn't help but gaze up into his breathtaking features with wonder, eyes gleaming in wander as your body knelt before your new god, the man that had saved you from your nightmare, pulled you from the grasps of demons who'd had a rule over you for years.
And with one final statement, you were his. "Yes Rex Lapis."
He'd seen her for more then what she was with hands stained of blood.
You eyes opened in a start, breath heaving and head spinning at the sudden awareness. You honestly hadn't a clue how you'd gotten here.
Though you'd noticed you weren't in any immediate danger - being nestled comfortably in the hideout Liyues warriors were using as shelter for the time being, something within you told you to panic.
Breathing was becoming harder a task, more a chore, and your eyes were welling with unwilling tears that began to leak down your face. Your hands lifted earnestly to swipe the rogue tears away all until your pupils made contact with the thick golden liquid staining your hands from your palms to the tips of your fingers.
In a moment of hysteria, a morbid shriek escaped your mouth, thrashing your hands away at your sides in a dire attempt to wipe the adepti blood from your hands. To no avail. Each time you brought your hands back up to your eyeline it seemed like there was more blood then the last. Your crying was becoming heavier, cries for help becoming louder and it wasn't until an arm grabbed your own that you realized there was someone besides you.
Turning to look at the culprit, Rex Lapis stood besides you in a worried daze, eyes searching every inch of your body as you cried in hysterics, begging for relief from the bloodied mess before you.
"Acestia! Acestia! Are you okay?! Please Acestia talk to me."
It seemed he'd been screaming at you for quite some time- if the slight fade in of his voice was any indication to you. Slowly blinking up at him, your tears began to slow. "M-My hands.... What have I done."
Looking down upon your trembling hands held up to your face, Rex Lapis furrowed his brows in confusion. "Acestia, I-... I don't understand."
"They're stained with blood. Who've I hurt this time?"
"Acestia, dear- your hands are..." It took a moment for Morax to find his words. "Your hands are clean. You haven't hurt anyone."
But his words were of no comfort to you, instead you looked down, head hanging as your tears fell to the floor instead. "I'm a murderer. My own people. Slaughtered by my own hands."
"Acestia this is war, I don't know what outcome you expect-"
"No!" You'd never raised your voice like that to your god, yet in your hysterics you didn't seem to care. Neither did he. He just wanted you safe and calm again.
"Not the war! Before... I- I hurt people. I hurt Adepti. I-I'm a monster."
Finally it had dawned on him. The hysterics, the 'blood', the duty you felt to him and this nation. You were haunted by a past that was never yours to decide on. A pawn you were to demons, and in turn those demons haunt you as a knight.
"Never." He'd whispered, suddenly your hands, your bloodied and stained hands had been clenched between two, much bigger. But unlike you'd expected, the blood didn't smear, the blood hadn't transferred onto Morax's hands and stained his as well. No, instead  they'd stayed dry and as he leant back to expose your hands to you once more, the blood on your own had dissipated too. Like it was never there- because it was never there.
"You can never be a monster for something you didn't choose. You survived a previous life and you've repented for your sins a million times over with every slash of your polearm you've sent to protect this nation."
The words that escaped the Archons mouth had your own hanging wide open. This man, your god was vouching for you - too you. He was singing your praise and holding your hands as he'd done it.
Your god was worshipping you.
It was almost too good to be true, almost a dream come to life and you would have believed it was if it wasn't for the sudden proximity Morax had gained on you. He was so close all of a sudden, hood down leaving nothing on his upper body but the connecting cloth over his shoulders leading into his long robe behind him.
"I know you don't believe me. But what better forgiveness then the forgiveness of your god?" And with not a moment to spare he'd leant forward to catch your lips in what would be the first kiss of millions to come.
She wasn't just his yaksha anymore but was soon becoming his angel. Only then, when the tides had changed, when the war stopped and harmony soon fall upon Liyue, only when his Yaksha had become his lover, for the first time had he entrusted the bell to someone else.
"I-... I want you to be the new keepsake of the Cleansing Bell."
Suddenly his hands which lay upon your body felt like ice as he spoke. The man lay besides you, lips pressed against the top of your head as he spoke his words quietly and meekly- very unlike Morax indeed.
"What was that?"
"Dont pretend you didn't hear me..." His eyes finally glanced down, your own head creasing up to look at him besides you, his bare body against your own bare body. "I meant it. I trust you with it."
"But Morax, you haven't trusted a soul with it in over 1000 years, why m-"
"Don't you dare question why it would be you while I lay naked besides you." His words were light hearted and humorous, a tone which you couldn't help but smile at. He truly was the most perfect person to you. "This bell isn't just a keepsake. Its a promise- I... I want to be besides you for the rest of your life, and I truly do mean that. You've been with me through hundreds of years of turmoil and war and now my nation has finally found the peace It was seeking. And I... Ive found it too."
You were silent listening to the Archon speak. Through years of trust building, comradeship, friendship and now relationship, he'd always managed to flip the tables and worship you with his words instead. Though this seemed different, this seemed... Life long... Eternal.
"Please say you'll take it. Please say you'll take me too."
And with one final statement, you were his. "Yes, Rex Lapis."
Someone who had still held that bell up until the… passing of said archon.”
“So, the bell was like… a symbol of unity?” Paimons eyes gazed upon Zhongli in wonder, seemingly entranced by the long lineage of love between the former Archon and the former Yaksha.
Finally, Zhongli smiled widely, “In the same way mortals exchange vows and rings, Rex Lapis passed off the Cleansing Bell to her all those years ago. Though as times changed and Rex Lapis... I, made the decision to denounce my archon title, I also thought it fitting to instead follow mortal traditions as well- so, now we pass off the cleansing bell to the Exuvia - Rex Lapis’ old form. And in this new mortal one we exchange rings instead.” And as the story came to a close, the couple extended their hands forward to showcase two equally shiny Cor Lapis ring upon each ring finger.

Missing Your Warmth Already-Xiao Fic
Tumblr media
Characters: Xiao x Dead gn Reader
Summary: you died in a war against a god, right in front of him.
Warnings: angst/no comfort, reader could be an adeptus(but not one of the yakshas), if you´d like then xiao dies too(i could make that a part two??), very short
Note: its my first time writing smt like this, pls dont tell me how bad it is(i already know it). hope you´ll "enjoy" reading this, love you.
He was looking at your lifeless body, his legs almost couldn´t hold him up anymore. if only you were still here to comfort him and hug him, so he could lay on your chest and feel the warmth of your body. Instead, when he gave in and fell down on his knees wanting to hear your voice again, just one last time. In the feeling of the emptiness take over him, he doesn´t notice his fellow yaksha asking if he's ok. Instead pulls your body, which was once so warm and full of life, now cold and lifeless in his arms. he eventually gave in and cried, he wanted to scream his lungs out, and to destroy the world for taking you away from him. Yet he could only sit with your dead body on his lap, stroking your hair like you once did to his. It felt calming, but that was quickly taken away when he touched your skin, the feeling of your ice-cold skin on his, he couldn´t bear it.
he tried to calm himself down, like you said he should when he was stressed or felt down. but it wasn't the same, you weren't there to help him, instead right there in his arms lying dead, not being able to help him be calm and collected as before. He didn't think life would ever get better after your passing but still hoped he could get over it, even if it sounded impossible. But it certainly couldn't get any worse, right?
If only he knew what was coming for him and the rest of the yaksha.

The day Rex lapis took you under his care was the day you found the true meaning of peace. After years of enslavement by your old master, you were his mindless puppet to control, a puppet killing machine to slay innocent beings and being forced to devour their souls, being a weak beast didn't do you good and just kept suffering under his will.
Tumblr media
You revered the prime adepti so much that you were willing to fight for him during the archon war, when you signed a contract to protect liyue at all costs, that's when you meet the shy antisocial Alatus, you understood him because of his past and you were able to sympathize with his guilt, he didn't mind your presence much as he thought you're just one of those chatty extroverts like Bosacius, though he admitted that he felt the most authentic with you than the others, the both of you have shared trauma and feelings, he was a bit relieved that he has someone like you who could understand him and his karmic debt.
The other yakshas take note of his demeanor when he's with you, Xiao appears more relaxed with your presence around, you as well going to him first when something happens, Bosacius took this as an opportunity to tease Xiao about his feelings for you “What do you think of Y/n?”
Alatus seemed stunned when hearing the electro yaksha’s question, the fact his heart starts doing funny things whenever he hears your pretty name “They are just my friend… nothing else..”
Bosacius knew something of course, who stares at a friend for too long anyway? “Is that so?” he showed a teasing smile that seemed to get the anemo yaksha off guard “Fine… I guess they are a bit different than anyone..” when he means by bit, he means ‘very’. You on the other side isn't a stranger to these feelings also, the moment you laid eyes on Alatus a funny feeling wrapped around your heart, a little saddened that you thought he doesn't reciprocate your feelings, well you thought.
“I feel the same way too…” Xiao averted his gaze with rosy pink tint on his cheeks, a warm smile grew on you as you took his hand “So we're official?” your eyes gleamed like the pale moonlight he watches on every night when he couldn't sleep “If you’re fine with it..”
After announcing the news to the rest of adepti, they weren't quite surprised as they already pick out the obvious signs between the two of you, Bosacious being the supportive older brother you have set up a date for you in the qingyun peak where moon carver resides, he was kind enough to give you two alone time. The scenery below painted the perfect windy atmosphere as skies were a shade of sunset, you held Xiao close as the two of you gaze at the sunset, he was a little shy of course it was your first date with him so you had to initiate the affection every time, Xiao can't lie but he loves it, he hasn't felt this way with anyone before.
“Where would you like to go next?” The two of you sat down while still holding hands “Uh..” The anemo adeptus rubbed his temple in return, a tint of blush spreaded in his cheeks “I need to show you something..” You cocked an eyebrow but went closer to him as he teleported somewhere.
What you saw was endearing, he carved your initial along with his on a local cuihua tree, you touched the initials written with a smile on your face “You're a sweetheart.” You pulled him into a warm hug as he melts into your touch, only you can hug him close like this, he pressed a soft kiss on your forehead “I love you, I'll always do..”
The karmic debt was strong enough to pull you into the darkness, you tried to battle it eventually getting weaker as a result, Xiao couldn't do anything but just stare at you, he did try to come to your aid but a different you tried to fight him. A agonizing scream escaped you as Alatus’ jaw dropped with remorseful eyes. He ran then caught you in his arms, at this point you were getting weaker and there's nothing you can do, you wanted to give up on the spot, seeing Xiao’s teary eyes one last time made your heart twinge, you still wanted to be with him, to travel and fight the world with him, you swore you loved him till your last breath. Gathering all the strength to cup his cheek with your one hand, you wiped a tear that escaped his other eye “Stay with me, let's get you somewhere-” the amount of karmic debt that surrounded your consciousness and body, it's impossible to be saved at this point. You always hated leaving after promising to stay, but you had no choice as you got weaker and frail “Live…for me…okay?” You send him a pained smile, a smile he wants to see everyday even on his last breath, but not a bittersweet one, he squeezed your hand while rubbing your knuckles soothingly, he leaned close to your forehead while shedding tears for the first time “I don't…wanna die…” you mumbled.
“I know. So please…” Xiao cupped your cheek with his hand kissing your forehead, it's just like the first time beside the cuihua tree, at least you won't perish in vain with him by your side.
*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚
It was like any other normal day in wangshu inn, a tranquil atmosphere with leaves accompanying Xiao on his birdwatching, his life may have been saved by a certain bard but the loneliness he felt lingered with him for Morax knows how long, he genuinely loved them a lot that he felt like a part of him died with them that day, Alatus still inculpates himself after what happened, he couldn't do anything to save your precious life nor ask for help, Zhongli reassured him that he still did his best nonetheless but Xiao couldn't help but still loathe himself, how many years has it been without your touch? Consecutively thousands of years without your soft kiss and warmth.
Amidst the trees in guili plains, a certain tree that has both of your initials carved into the wood made historians to a thought that it existed thousand years ago, they researched more about the 6 yaksha adepti through history books, the historians and adventurers together came to a conclusion that you and Xiao were a thing considering the letters you wrote to each other in qinqyun peak and the initials Xiao carved in stones. Hu tao had teased him once about getting with the traveler but he couldn't see what's in Lumine the way he sees something in you.
You yourself holds a dear place into his heart that no one can compare to, he still longs for your touch and voice even if you're in your peaceful eternal slumber, Alatus still visits the places the both of you went to but there was one place he couldn't bring himself to go to.
The place where you died, his guilt that day was stronger than his karmic debt, the image of you slowly perishing in his arms couldn't get off his mind, if Xiao only could he would turn back time to just be in your loving arms again, gradually his worries being at ease when he's with you.
“Who's Y/n?” Ever since traveler step foot in liyue, she had heard from historians and Zhongli about Xiao having a thing with another yaksha, Paimon too was curious about you this inquiring the yaksha adeptus after meeting him “Y/n…” he averted his gaze to the ground “They were my greatest love…”
Lumine and Paimon took time to listen about his story of you, he seemed to venerate you talking about your travels with another and dates you go to, Paimon agreed with Xiao’s opinion hearing about your good deed “Then… their karmic debt also got to them like the others..” he let out a quiet sigh leaning on the railings of wangshu inn, Lumine symphatized with the adeptus “Oh! Paimon is sorry about that…” Paimon scratch her head, he held your favorite flower with wistfulness “I'm sure Y/n is proud that you survived!” Paimon tried to lit the gloomy atmosphere up, Xiao could only seal his eyes shut “Then, what am I supposed to do without them?..” he gaze at the moonlit sky ahead, the clouds where you reside silently watching over him “All I want is to be with them again, to be in their arms, like how things should be.” Lumine could sense the dejection on his tone, she offered him her comfort.
Xiao tries to find you in every person he met, but eventually no one can replace you and he still finds himself standing in front of the cuihua tree hoping to at least feel your presence, seasons and days may change but his undying love for you will never change.

“Now that we've helped Fujin tend to the soil, Paimon has noticed that it's a lot prettier in Chenyu Vale.”
The floating fairy-like creature chirps as she hovers along the dirt path by her blonde companion's side.
“Speaking of prettier things. Traveler, did you notice that the sky here in Chenyu Vale is much different from the skies in the rest of Liyue?”
The golden blonde next to her stops and turns his gaze onto her, raising a brow of skepticism. His eyes then raise to the darkened sky that hangs above them and take in the sight.
What Paimon said was true. The sky truly was different from the rest of Liyue and any other region that the two had visited so far. As it was night, the sky was a deep midnight blue with swirls of violet and turquoise that seemed to glow from within the cotton-like clouds that partially obscured and circled the shining white moon. Stars speckle the suspended landscape of night haphazardly, their droplets of white add an almost otherworldly quality to the already ethereal scene. And, of course, the faded silhouette of Celestia looms ominously in the distance, creeping north ever so slowly. It truly was unlike anything that Aether had ever seen before.
“That's–… how did I never notice it.”
The golden blonde mumbles as he looks up in wonder and amazement, but also confusion.
Why was the sky in Chenyu Vale so drastically different from anywhere else? What was so different about this place? How was the sky this way in the first place? It was strange; like the sky was altered by something to be this way, and although Aether wanted to think that something like that was impossible, his expectations have been demolished and rebuilt countless times since he descended into Teyvat.
The small bob-haired fairy floated in front of his face and waved her arms about to attract his attention.
“Hey, if you're curious about the sky, why don't we head back to Yilong Wharf and ask the locals about it? Maybe if we're lucky we'll run into Cloud Retai– uhm… Xianyun again; she might know too!”
Paimon suggests before turning and floating further down the dirt road toward their new destination.
“Hm.”
Aether hums, giving a curt nod as he follows his guide back to the wharf.
Tumblr media
“Uuugh! Paimon is so tired! Why is Chiwang Terrace so far from here anyway!? It's already daytime!”
Paimon whines as she slowly floats along with her blonde companion at a snail's pace in a slumped-over position.
“How about we head over to Jiulue Teahouse? We can sit down and eat some of the local dishes then we can start asking around.”
The outlander chuckles softly as he reaches over and pats the floating girl on the head in sympathy before grabbing her and carefully holding her under his arm. Paimon only sighs and gives her friend a nod as she's carried off in the direction of the teahouse.
On their way over to one of the nearby stalls, Aether spots a storyteller on the outside stage; maybe this storyteller has a few tales about the skies here. Though, after a short deliberation, he lets his floating companion go and buy food for the two of them while he goes and speaks to the storyteller; with a reasonable allowance, lest the girl buy out the stall's entire stock and empty his mora pouch.
Once the two part ways, the golden blonde sees the older man leaving off the stage, seemingly emptied of his arsenal of tall tales. So he waves the man, who he learns is named Jiewu going by the nearby chatter of patrons, down.
“Excuse me! I know that you just got off the stage, but I was wondering if you had any stories about the skies of Chenyu Vale?”
He asked straightforwardly; getting a comical sweat drop from the older man at his bluntness.
Jiewu mutters a bit as he pinches his chin between his thumb and forefinger; his crow's feet becoming more pronounced as he squints his eyes in thought. The older man takes a glance up at the magnificent sky with a bland expression, as if it were the most mundane thing that he'd ever seen before. It was almost as if he didn't notice anything significant at all. Strange.
“I can't say I have any stories about the sky, young man. I've no clue why you're interested in something like that, there's nothing very spectacular about the sky.”
Jiewu confusedly drones out; raising a thick brow at the blonde and taking another glance at the sky above.
“Was there anything else you needed, young man? If I'm not home soon, my wife will have a fit”
The older man asks in a still polite but slightly rushed tone, making it clear that he wanted the conversation to end quickly.
Aether only shakes his head and allows the man to take his leave. Turning around, he sees Paimon floating toward him with bagged food in hand and an annoyed expression on her face. He raises a brow at her, silently asking what was wrong.
“Paimon asked the stall owner about the sky while waiting for the food, but he only looked at Paimon with a weird face and said ‘there's nothing really special about the sky, is there?’. And the other people Paimon asked said something similar!”
The floating girl loudly complains before digging her hands into the bag, pulling out a skewer of food and angrily chomping on it; letting out muffled mumbles about giving the stall owner an ugly nickname.
Aether only sighs as he motions for his fairy-like companion to follow him.
Their next stop: Mt. Mingyuan!
Tumblr media
As the traveler scaled the cliffs of Mt. Mingyuan, he kept hearing the sound of a paper bag rustling and the unmistakable munching of food. A metaphorical vein bulged out on his temple as he whipped his head around to look at his floating guide.
“You— Paimon, give me the bag! If you eat everything again, I swear I'll feed you to a cryo slime!”
Aether growled as he recklessly took one hand off the cliffside to swipe at the bag in Paimon's hands, the girl dodging every time.
Unfortunately, all the wild movements made him lose his foothold in the cliffside and sent him plummeting towards the ground below. In too much shock to deploy his wind glider, all the golden blonde could do was stare upwards at the screaming Paimon who too was frozen in fear.
But then… on the wind, he heard a faint whisper of droplets landing on the surface of water…
From beneath him, Aether felt a soft embrace pushing him upwards; the quiet sounds of shifting waters made him look back. What he could only describe was a small cloud of heavy mist with a ring of water swirling around it. The strange cloud lifted him, and Paimon when it reached the height she was at, up and over the cliffside, where it then came to a stop and seemingly patiently waited for him to get off.
The golden blonde shakily stumbled off of the helpful cloud and fell on his bottom on the grassy cliff top. His heart beat erratically and his whole body trembled as the adrenaline finally caught up with him. He didn't even register the tearful apologies of his floating friend as she hugged him and sobbed into his chest.
“...One did not think that mortals had become so foolish over such a short time…”
A gentle voice softly whispered from a place that Aether couldn't locate.
“...You shall consider yourself lucky that one was present to witness your fall, lest you no longer be among the living…”
The voice spoke familiarly; it reminded Aether of how Xianyun and the other adeptus spoke. Surely this voice must belong to another adeptus that he just hadn't met yet.
“...Descend the mountain and return to a safer location, the cliffs of Mt. Mingyuan are no place for young mortals like yourself…”
The voice spoke again, this time though, it seemed to be coming from the cloud that saved him from his fall. With every syllable pronounced, the cloud of mist gave off a faint but ethereal glow in a medley of colors. Colors that were reminiscent of the night sky that he had seen just yesterday.
Breaking from his adrenaline-fueled trance, Aether shakily gets to his feet and takes the still-sobbing Paimon into his arms. He spared a glance back at the cloud, tempted to stay and ask it about its possible connection to the mysterious skies that he had been wondering about, but one look at the disheveled companion in his arms and he knew his answer. He'd have to worry about that later, his dear friend needs him right now.
“Can… Can I ask you for your name?”
The golden blonde asked, almost sounding as if he was begging with how his voice trembled.
“...One's name should be of no concern to you at this time; you must go now…”
The ‘cloud’ softly answered back, as if it were trying to coax a sleepy child back into a dream.
With that answer, Aether nodded and headed down the mountain with careful and measured steps, occasionally giving quick glances down at the sleeping Paimon's tear-stained face. He sighs, perhaps he can just ask about this mysterious adeptus another time, he has much more important things to worry about now.

↬ Lover's Oath xiao x M!Reader
Contains spoilers of the 2.7 Archon Quest
Has a mildly spicy scene. Will be written in third person point of view.
Tumblr media
"The Chasm?" Shocked and worry evident on [y/n]'s voice as he looked at the amber eyed adeptus male infront of him. He got a nagging feeling in his stomach once he heard what the vigilant yaksha had just said. They were at the highest floor in Wangshu Inn, admiring the view in their shared bedroom's balcony, a plate of almond tofu in each of their hands. This was supposed to be a relaxing evening for the both of them, finally getting the chance of spending time together despite their busy schedules.
Both adepti have full schedules, [y/n] working for the Qixing much like Ganyu while Xiao still has his duty to protect the people of Liyue.
"Mhm..." Xiao hummed as he gently brought the spoon of almond tofu to his mouth. Seemingly not bothered of what he just said.
[Y/n] sighed as he placed down his spoon unto the now empty plate infront of him, he looked at Xiao, admiring how rays of the sunset framed the Yaksha's face perfectly, Xiao looked so angelic.
Xiao just subtly admired his significant other infront of him, the way [y/n]'s eyebrows are furrowed and his eyes closed while he's in deep thoughts. How the winds swayed the small baby hairs of the [h/c] haired male, the galaxies now visible behind him. Xiao thought that [y/n] looked so ethereal. Xiao still doesn't know how and why their relationship happened but he is forever grateful for being blessed with such an amazing significant other.
[Y/n] slowly opened his eyes, revealing his [e/c] irises that Xiao thinks he could just get lost into.
[Y/n] looked at Xiao with seriousness, a sigh escaping his lips. Xiao just stared at the other male curiously. No words shared to each other.
Xiao watched as [y/n] gently clasped his hand with their own. Despite them doing this a lot before, Xiao can't get enough of how warm and gentle [y/n] held him. [Y/n] never fails to make his heart flutter.
"Xiao..." [Y/n] softly says before pausing to take a deep breath and let their irises meet.
[E/c] to Amber.
"You keep on telling me to call out your name whenever I'm in danger right?" [Y/n] asked, voice almost a whisper but Xiao heard him. He always does.
Xiao nodded, noticing how [y/n]'s grip on his hand has tightened, not enough to hurt but enough for him to know that [y/n] is afraid, not because of him but for him.
A sighed escape [y/n]'s lips as he continued, "I hope that you know that you too can also call for mine when you're in need of my assistance, I guarantee to drop everything of what I'm doing to aid you as best as I can..." He says, voice firm but Xiao noticed the small stutters. Xiao can only mentally scoff at how weak he has become, how weak he is when it comes to man infront of him.
"So please don't hesitate to call out my name when you're in need alright?" [Y/n] says, voice shaking. Xiao can swear he can almost see the tears starts to form on the male's [e/c] eyes, guilt starting to form in his conscience.
Xiao gently stood up from where he sat, unlacing his hands from the other male, slowly walked beside [y/n] and the said male can only look at the Yaksha in confusion.
Xiao leans his body down, enough for their faces to be right in front of each other, [y/n] can feel heat crawl up into his cheeks before feeling something soft against his lips.
Archons, Xiao can't get enough of how [y/n]'s lips perfectly molded to his.
[Y/n] slowly wrapped his arms around the Yaksha's neck, he felt Xiao's hands firmly holding his waist.
Their chest pressed against one another and so do their lips. Soft moans and groans can be heard from the two.
Xiao slowly trailing down, leaving kisses towards [y/n]'s neck, before sucking on a patch of skin, enough to form a bruise.
[Y/n] felt embarrassed and incredibly shy, not used to Xiao being like this.
Xiao cupped the other male's face, their eyes staring at each other, their foreheads touching.
"I promise I'll call for you then..." Xiao said, voice merely a whisper enough for [y/n] to hear.
"A promise isn't enough, let's make an oath to each other."

Oh, it's dark...
Looking over Liyue never failed to bring a smile to your face. It was a nation built by an archon that had been known as the Warrior God. He fought his battles and built the very terrain you walk on now. The God of Contracts built a strong nation that continues to thrive even after his supposed death.
And the reason for this still blooming future, had been due to the Liyue Qixing. Tianquan Ningguang, and Yuheng Keqing had diligently prepared Liyue and defended it with their bare hands. Of course, the rest of the Qixing also fulfilled their duties and brought prosperity to the Harbor.
And... Here you are, leaning on a railing of a balcony, overlooking the many successes of your ancestors. Not even contributing to the economy of Liyue. You weren't an artisan or a business man.
Yes, you worked two jobs, both of which were administration and accounting duties. You worked at Bubu Pharmacy on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. And then worked at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
But... You weren't doing anything.
You didn't defeat an ancient God with a certain traveler, you had to overlook a business exchange due to the fact of being the witness to an ancient contract signing.
You didn't ready your gifts for the Rite of Descension to ask Rex Lapis for his blessing, you were organizing the methods and mechanics of the Prime of the Adepti's corpse and how to make it seem like it had walked on into the afterlife.
You... don't do anything.
"Love? Why are you up this late?" a familiar baritone asked from behind you.
You couldn't bear looking at him. His piercing golden eyes would look straight through you. He'd see all the nasty voices screaming hatred. He'd see your pathetic fears clawing at you from within. He'd see everything you'd bottled up for thousands of years. The regret. The self-loathing. The ever present helplessness.
You only realize now that you were shaking when his hands rested on yours. Still avoiding his gaze, you glanced at your feet. A hand found its way on your cheek, the thumb wiping the tears away. You collapsed then, allowing him to turn your head to look up.
You almost laughed at his bed head, his hair pointing in different directions and his ponytail that had loosened into a bubble. He was dressed in his silk shirt and cotton pants, both of which had been hanging off and twisted around him.
But you only cried more.
You let him pull you into his chest, grabbing onto his shirt as you let go. You were vaguely aware that you were saying something, lamenting and sobbing over how you don't do anything for anyone and that you're useless. Trying to materialize everything that hurt you and angered you.
He held you tighter, rubbing circles into your back and kissing your hair. He listened to all your woes without judgement. He swayed you a little to calm you down.
Your grip loosened and the tears gradually stopped. After a bit, you looked up at him with red eyes and a small frown. His eyes held the patience of the world and all the love in the universe. Zhongli, the former Geo Archon, was your lover who will never judge you for your problems.
Why didn't you come to him in the first place? He may have been your employer in an ancient contract but after he gave away his Gnosis to live a mortal life, just as you have given your duties to others, you knew that you had peace. You should have come to him.
"Are you feeling better, my Lapis?" he asked as he cupped your cheeks and thumbed away the drying tears.
"Yes, much better. Thank you, my love," you sigh, resting your head on his chest.
"Shall we head to bed?"
"Yes, I tuckered myself out."
With that you turned to head back inside the house, holding your lover's hand and dragging him along.

(A/N: This is my comfort story and no I will not apologize for it. I've been in a bad headspace recently and I just needed to write some fluff. Technically this isn't reader x zhongli but more of a OC x zhongli. Or an adeptus!reader. But interpret it how you wish ;p.)
