“I’m just gonna shower quickly and get this alien gunk out of my hair.” Alex smiled warmly, kissing your forehead before making her way into your bathroom.
Tonight, was game night which meant a night full of laughter, jokes and fun. It was your turn to host this time and in true Danvers fashion, Alex had set out a pretty awesome snack board filled with plenty of treats, and you’d put some beer and wine on ice too.
You just wished you’d be able to enjoy it a little more. Normally you’d be super excited and bursting with energy but honestly you just felt drained. Your throat had been sore all day and now it on the verge of hurting, that in combination with frequent headaches, chills and seeming endless sniffles it was safe to say you weren’t exactly bubbly for tonight. For now, though, you were enjoying the silence, well near silence - Alex was humming a tune in the other room as the shower came to temperature.
A friendly knock the door came soon enough, and you pulled yourself from the sofa, grimacing a little at the surge of dizziness it sent through your body. You made sure to put on a smile as you opened the door.
“Y/N! Hi!” Kara beamed, pulling you into a hug before you could object - it’s fine. It’s not like you could get her sick anyway. Lena smiled beside her, and you offered her a hug too, albeit very brief.
“Hey you two.” You welcomed, your voice coming our raspier then intended, “Alex is here too, she’s just showering.” You added seeing Kara’s eyes looking around for her.
You stepped aside to let the two of them in, Kara bounced in, instantly sneaking over to eat an Oreo from the snacks. Lena also came in, but she hesitated a little, her eyes seemed to be looking over you, her face unreadable. Maybe if you’d had a chance to think you could’ve realised what she was thinking but-
“Hh’itshu!” You quickly ducked down into your elbow with a sudden sneeze and when you’d pulled your head back up, Lena’s expression had changed again but she said nothing, only reaching over to gently rub your shoulder.
“Bless you.”
“Thanks, Lena," you replied with a grateful smile, touched by her caring gesture. You led her into the living room where Kara was already helping herself to some more snacks, her eyes shining with excitement. You couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt knowing you wouldn't be able to match her enthusiasm tonight.
You coughed a little as you sat back down, quickly masking it by clearing your throat, “So, what did you two bring to play this time?”
“Well, we didn’t know exactly what to bring, Kara wanted to do Twister but considering how that ended last time.” She trailed off with a laugh as the Kyrptonian giggled, “So we went with the classics: monopoly, pictonary and such.” She explained, taking off her bag and bringing out numerous board games.
You couldn't help but chuckle at the memory of the Twister mishap from the last game night. It had been hilarious to watch Kara accidentally bend the Twister mat into a pretzel shape with her super strength.
As you all settled around the coffee table, the board games spread out before you, the three of you fell into friendly conversation as you waited for Alex. The water had stopped a few minutes ago so she was probably just changing.
“So, anything exciting out there today Supergirl?” You asked Kara, prompting her to go into a spiel about some bad guys she’d taken care of. About half-way through Lena went to go get everyone a drink and whilst you tried to pay attention to the happily babbling blonde, you couldn’t help but get distracted by an insistent itching in your sinuses.
It was hard to ignore and you’d honestly tried to hold it back as to not interrupt her but it had gotten the better of you as you weakly threw up your hand to tell her to pause before bending to the side as you muffled two quick sneezes into your arm, “Hh’itshoo! Hh-Hh’tshiew! Ugh, sorry Kara, excuse me.”
“Oh, bless you! Someone’s certainly sneezy today.” She smiled, hopefully oblivious as she rubbed your back before continuing her story. Lena quickly returned with your drinks, and it was impossible to miss the look of sympathy in her eyes as she handed yours to you. Shit. She knew. She was always the more perceptive one out of the two.
As if on cue, Alex had wandering in just as Kara finished her story. Her hair was still a little damp, but she was dressed in fresh comfy clothes, and she offered both women a warm embrace as she came to join everyone.
“Kara, Lena, it’s so good to see you.” She said as she eyed the games already set out, “So I see we’re going with the classics?”
“How was your shower sweetheart?” You coughed a little, trying to clear the frog in your throat as Alex came to sit by your side.
As Alex settled down beside you, she wrapped her arm around your shoulders, giving you a comforting squeeze. "The shower was nice, finally got all that alien goo out of my hair," she chuckled, leaning in to give you a gentle kiss on the cheek. "You okay though? Your voice sounds worse than earlier, I was meaning to say something.”
You paused for a second before waving off her concern, “It’s fine, don’t worry. Just a passing thing.” You excused, pretending to miss the way Lena was subtly raising her eyebrow at you.
The evening continued with the four of you playing board games, laughing, and having a good time despite your declining energy. Alex seemed to be enjoying herself, and you were grateful for her presence, knowing she could always lift your spirits.
As the night wore on, you couldn't ignore the increasing discomfort in your throat and the persistent sneezing and sniffles. You tried to downplay it, not wanting to ruin the fun for everyone else, but it was becoming more challenging to hide.
During a one of the breaks between games, Lena excused herself to the restroom and Alex left to pour herself another drink. Kara took the opportunity to lean in, her super hearing having caught your last 3 stifled sneezes you’d managed to hide from the rest of the group. "Y/N, are you sure you're feeling alright? You sound really congested to me and I was blaming that on my hearing, but you've been sneezing a lot too.”
Double Shit. You knew Lena wouldn’t say anything about it, she was one to stay back and silently offer comfort when needed. But Kara was different, she’d actively want to help, and attention was the last thing you wanted right now.
Tonight, was about having fun together, not a group nursing session. Not only that, but you also wanted tonight to be a break for Alex too, becoming Director of the DEO was taking a lot out of her and you wanted her to be able to relax and not have to worry about her girlfriend’s silly cold.
“Kara, it’s fine.” You tried to give her a genuine smile, “I’m a little congested but it's just the weather changing, that’s all. Please don’t worry about it.”
Despite your insistence that you were just dealing with seasonal changes, Kara didn't look entirely convinced. Her brow furrowed with concern as she studied you closely, her super senses probably giving her a clear indication that something was off. You knew it was futile to hide anything from her, but you didn't want to disrupt the fun-filled evening.
Kara opened her mouth to say something, but just then, Alex returned with her drink in hand, and Lena followed suit, returning from the restroom. The momentary distraction gave you a chance to change the subject, and you steered the conversation toward another board game, hoping to divert Kara's attention.
"Hey, let's play Uno next! That's always a blast," you suggested with a smile, grabbing the box and setting it up. Everyone agreed, and soon you were all immersed in the hilarity of how awful Lena was at Uno, the laughter filling the room once again.
As the game progressed, you couldn't help but sneeze a couple more times, despite trying to stifle them. Kara glanced at you each time, her worry evident, but she respected your wish not to make a fuss. The evening went on with games and snacks, and you kept pushing through, even as your symptoms seemed to worsen.
At one point, you excused yourself to blow your nose in the bathroom, and when you returned, you found Alex talking quietly to Kara and Lena, her expression a mix of concern and determination. They all fell silent when you re-entered the room, but you pretended not to notice.
The four of you continued playing for a few minutes before Alex offered to refill everyone's drinks. She quickly brought Kara and Lena another wine and went over to grab a beer for the two of you.
It was when she went to pour yours into a glass that she had an idea. She reached into the cupboard and took out a labelled bottle and took a moment to slip some cold medicine into your glass. It wasn’t a lot by any means, just enough to take the edge off. It was something you’d done for her in the past. Alex wasn't the type to confront you in front of others, but she wanted to make sure you had some relief.
When she returned, she handed you the drink with a loving smile, "Here you go, love. Stay hydrated." She said warmly, brushing her fingers softly against yours briefly as you accepted the glass gratefully. You couldn't help but smile at Alex's thoughtfulness, appreciating her discreet gesture to help ease your discomfort. Taking a sip from the glass, you subtly noticed the slight taste of the medicine, and you felt a glimmer of relief already.
You reached out and squeezed her hand, letting her know that you knew about what she’d done, and she leant over to kiss your forehead in reply.
It was a small, private moment of connection between you and Alex, and it brought you comfort knowing that she cared for you and wanted to help in her own way. With the cold medicine starting to take effect, you began to feel a bit more relieved, and you were able to enjoy the rest of the evening without feeling as drained.
As the night continued, you all played more games, laughed, and shared stories. Kara and Lena, though concerned, respected your desire to not make a big deal out of your illness and kept the mood light and enjoyable. Alex stayed by your side, offering her silent support.
Eventually, it was time for Kara and Lena to head back home, “You need to learn to look after yourself properly.” Lena had whispered quietly as Kara and Alex were saying goodbye, “Tonight was fun though, I hope you feel better, if you need anything don’t hesitate to call.”
“Thanks Lena, I will.” You smiled as she pulled you into a hug before going to take Kara’s hand. With a final round of hugs and goodbyes, Kara and Lena left for the night. After bidding them goodbye, you and Alex cleaned up the game boards and snacks. As you both settled into bed, Alex wrapped her arms around you, pulling you close.
"You're so stubborn, you know," Alex teased gently, kissing the top of your head. "You should've told me earlier that you weren't feeling well."
You let out a soft chuckle, burying your face in the crook of her neck. "I didn't want to spoil the night for everyone. Besides, I had you taking care of me anyway."
Alex chuckled, pressing a tender kiss to your cheek. "You don't always have to be the strong one, I'm here for you, no matter what. Next time, just let me know, okay?"
You nodded as she pulled the back of your neck towards her, her soft lips came to meet yours as she kissed you. You wished that moment could’ve lasted forever but you had to pull away to duck away as you sneezed, “You better not complain when you catch this.” You laughed as she pulled you closer again.
“I would never.”

When the Sun Sets on Us
Pairing: Lena Luthor x fem!reader
Summary: Lena meets Y/N a very successful but cutthroat lawyer and media mogul she’s smart, funny with a fiery side, witty and of course drop dead gorgeous her outfits are always on point and she never misses a beat(imagine younger and nicer Cat Grant x Diana Prince) after working a couple contracts with her, Lena starts to fall for this mysterious woman and before she knows it she’s head over heels in love.
***************************************************************
You were in an important meeting with a new high profile client and felt your phone buzz in your blazer pocket, at first you ignored it until you felt it again, you turned your wrist up to read the message on your watch. The green bubble flashed revealing a text from none other than the Lena Luthor:
Hey not sure what your up to but can you call me when you get the chance?
and then another
I'm sorry I called your secretary and she said you were in an important meeting, we can talk later when you're free.
You two had worked on several lawsuits together when her brother ran Lexcorp, so you were on a first-name cell phone number basis, but she never texted or called when you were at work. Someting must be up you said to yourself.
You looked down the table at one of your coworkers who gave you a questioning look, motioning to your watch, they gave you a nod and you excused yourself to your office. You nodded to your secreatary and she knew not to interrupt. You picked up your phone dialing Lenas number it rang twice before she picked up.
"Hello?"
"Y/N?"
"Yea, Lena what's up?
"Nothing it can wait you are supposed to be in an important meeting."
"Well, the upside of being one of the best lawyers in the country and having my name on the firm is that I have some very competent lawyers to run these meetings."
"Okay, I think I need your help."
"You think? What's going on Lena?"
"It's my mom, now that Lex is locked away she wants to take over the company, she against the rebranding, she's also in league with Morgan Edge."
"So..."
"So I'm trying to fight her but they got some of the best lawyers and I can't compete, I need some help."
"Well the good news is she has good but you have the best, I'll be right over."
"Thank you Y/N."
This was your job, you typically dealt with criminal court cases but sometimes you got high-profile clients that, that included CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, sometimes it was big or sometimes it was just the media causing stink and then you would come in and clear everything up, you've helped build reputations and also destroy some. you quickly grabbed your purse and left your office, meeting your secretary.
"Ms. Romero please redirect everyone to my cell if they need anything dyer otherwise tell them I'm dealing with an impportant client."
"Yes Ms. Steele, may I ask who?"
"Ms. Lena Luthor."
"Yes Ma'am I'll put it down, do you need meetings covered?"
"Yes, Mr. Leone is with Mrs. Valentino is with in the meeting now, if you could have them both take my meetings that would be great."
"Sounds good." You turned to walk away but then turned back and fished through your purse.
"Oh and Alexia thank you...." You continued to fish through your ourse grabbing your wallet and pulling out a card. "Here love, it's my card, go get dinner for the three of you it's going to be some long nights, and you all deserve a treat. I'll be sure to come back and check in on everyone though."
"Thank you Ms. Steele!" She said almost stunned.
"Call me if you need anything, and also it's Y/N." she nodded nd you left.
--- time jump ---
You pulled up outside of Lexcorp and quickly parked looking in the irror to make sure you looked good, making your way inside. After the first couple of doors you were met with guards, one held his hand out stopping you.
"I'm sorry Ms. we need to see ID unless you have an appointment."
"Yes, I am here to meet with Ms. Luthor I'm her lawyer, Y/N Steele." before the guard could say anything her secretary came running around the corner apologizing and quickly pulling you towards the elevator, she hopped on and took you upstairs to Lena's office. She handed you a badge and told you to scan at the door as she quickly retreated back to her vast desk. you scanned and heard the lock click quickly opening the door.
When you entered you saw her, Lena Luthor, with long and silky raven hair tied back in a ponytail, her maroon suit hugging her perfectly in all the right areas, she was absolutely gorgeous, but you could see the stress plaguing her features as she paced back and forth behind her desk.
"Lena?" you called pulling her out of her thoughts.
"Oh thank God you're here," she said a sigh of relief coming from her. You walked over set your purse down and laid your coat over the chair.
"So tell me whats up,"
"It's my mom, she wants Lexcorp now and she's sided with Morgan Edge to get her hands on it, promising shares for some dirty work."
"First that's illegal, and I can nail them for insider trading if we can prove it..."
"Well she's been running an... well... no never mind," she said with a shake of her head, little did she know that you knew about CADMUS and the underground lab and experiments, you were secretly DEO for crying out loud.
"You can tell me anything."
he looked at you like she was going to tell you but then you saw that she quickly covered, "She's been spinning the media hoping that they run me out of the company."
"Well, it's good you called because this is my forte straightening out the media and winning these cases."
"I didn't know who else to call," you saw a thin water line come to her eyes, "you're the only one I can trust right now."
You smiled gently at her, "Lena Luthor I promise not to break that trust."
---time jump---
Here you sat in a big corporate office with you and Lena, the other side of the table was full of corporate lawyers, Morgan Edge with his minions, and of course Lillian Luthor.
"Lena this is childish, why don't you just hand over the company rights it's not even yours to begin with."
"Because mother, I was meant to take over Lexcorp and my first step will be rebranding, it's now going to be Luthorcorp so I can bring some respect back to the name.
"Oh foolish girl, you were never a Luthor, you were just another charity case for my husband, you might as well just give me the company, so Morgan here can expand Edge industries.”
“Mother…” Lena tried to reason but her mother knew exactly what to say slowly chipping away at her.
“Mrs. Luthor I would choose your next words very wisely.” You said your cold demeanor seeping through the professionalism, no one deserves to be treated like that.
“Oh and who might you be?”she asked rhetorically, “Lena’s glorified guard dog? Hmm or just the eye candy she keeps around the office, I’ve crushed many careers and aspirations under my boots and you would be no exception.”
“Well I guess it’s good I wear stilettos then,” you smirked a fire in your eyes tempting her. “And I would also like you to know that I’ve never lost a case, and I won’t start today.”
“Well Lena you know how to pick them, where’d you find her acting in broadway or in a back alley.”
“Actually mother she’s from Steele and St. James, I hire only the best not these cheap side hustlers.” She sat back crossing one leg over the other.
“Yes did I forget to mention my name, I’m Y/N Steele,” Lillian eyes stayed on you but you could feel them losing their electricity. “I have a proposition, you allow Lena to keep the company and I allow you to keep these.” You slid a file across to each of them, Morgan squirmed in his seat and Lillian looked up at you mouth agape.
“I believe that can be arranged.” Lillian croaked.
“Good because I would really hate to use that.” You stared back unwavering. Lillian reached over and grabbed the documents signing the company over to her daughter, and quickly leaving. But not before ripping Lena apart.
“I’m not sure what dirty games you’ve played but after this you’re no longer my daughter, you were fine as another charity case but from this day forward your not apart of the Luthor family.” She shot at her and then exited.
Lena quickly retreated to her office and you gathered everything and followed, as you stepped in you saw her staring out the window. You set eveythung down on the table and walked towards her rubbing her back in soothing circles, tears rolled down her cheeks.
“You know I never wanted this I always wanted to help people, save lives with science. I never saw myself running something like this.”
“I’m sure you’re going to do great.” She turned and looked into genuine eyes and a gentle smile.
“Y/N, Thank you.”
“no need to thank me this is what I do.”
“I…well… you’re amazing at it.”
“I try my best.” You stood turning to walk away but she grabbed your arm turning you towards her.
“C… can I…I need to tell you something.”
“Anything you know you can tell me anything.”
“I, well, god Y/N.” She reached up pulling you into a kiss, holding your face, she turned to pull away and you pulled her hips in closer.
“I’ve been waiting to do that for so long.” she said leaning her forehead on yours. You chuckled softly, “why didn’t you?”
“Because you’re Y/N Steele, one of the most successful lawyers in the country, you never miss a beat, never lose a case, your style is impeccable, and you just have this power over people.”
“especially you?”
“Especially me, I vowed to never trust people because again I was so hurt and you showed me I can love and trust again. At first I wasn’t sure but after a few months I tried finding every reason to see you but I always served so determined I didn’t want to distract you.”
“Oh love you’re the prefect kind of distraction.” You placed a kiss to her forehead.
“I love you Y/N.”
“I love you to Lena Luthor.”

The gentle vibration of Lena's watch acted as her personal alarm, rousing her from the realm of dreams into a reality more blissful than she could have ever imagined. She blinked away sleep, her eyes adjusting to the soft light filtering through the curtains. Lena's arms instinctively tightened around the warm, naked form of Kara, who remained sound asleep, blissfully unaware of the early hour.
A smile tugged at Lena's lips as she looked upon Kara's adorable slumbering face. Her tousled hair cascaded around her, an unruly halo that only added to her enchanting allure. Lena's gaze traced the delicate lines of Kara's features—the gentle curve of her cheek, the slight pout of her lips, and the serene expression that painted her face.
In the tranquility of the moment, Lena's heart swelled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. She was captivated by the sight of Kara, at peace in her arms. It was in these moments, where the outside world was hushed and time seemed to stand still, that Lena truly appreciated what the universe had given her.
With great care, Lena extricated herself from Kara's embrace, untangling their limbs one by one. As she moved, Kara stirred, letting out a soft grumble and instinctively pulling Lena closer. Lena's smile widened, her heart fluttering with warmth at Kara's unconscious desire to keep her close.
Unable to resist the temptation, Lena leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on Kara's forehead, her lips lingering for a brief moment. She whispered softly, as if the words were meant for Kara's dreams alone, "I'll be back, my love."
Treading lightly, Lena tip-toed around the room, careful not to disturb Kara's peaceful slumber. Her movements were slow and deliberate, in an effort to not disturb Kara. She reached for her clothes, pausing occasionally to steal glances at Kara, unable to resist the allure of her presence.
She marveled at the way the soft morning light played upon Kara's features, enhancing her natural radiance. Lena's heart ached with a sense of wonder, knowing that she had found her forever in Kara.
As Lena finished dressing, she stood at the threshold of the room, her eyes once again drawn to the slumbering form on the bed before moving towards the kitchen, busying herself with making her morning coffee. As the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, Lena made her way to her home office, barefoot and focused. She settled into her chair, surrounded by the familiar comforts of her workspace. Today, she had an important project to tackle, something that required her undivided attention for the upcoming week.
She delved into her work but her thoughts occasionally drifted to Kara. She couldn't help but wonder when her girlfriend would finally awaken from her peaceful slumber. But she knew that Kara deserved the rest that weekends offered. While Lena admired Kara's unwavering commitment and selflessness, she couldn't help but feel a surge of protectiveness. She wanted nothing more than for Kara to experience rest, relaxation, and the freedom from the burdens she carried. Lena recognized the toll that Kara's superhero duties and long work hours took on her, and she made it her mission to make Kara's weekends as relaxing as possible.
Hours passed, and the clock struck 9 am. With a contented smile, Lena closed her laptop and rose from her desk. It was time to fulfill one of her favourite weekend rituals—one that never failed to make her happy. Lena made her way to the kitchen, her steps light.
In the kitchen, Lena set to work, preparing a delicious breakfast for Kara. She cracked eggs into a bowl, expertly whisking them before pouring them onto the sizzling pan. The aroma of bacon filled the room, mingling with the scent of freshly flipped pancakes. She carefully brewed Kara's coffee just the way she liked it, knowing that the aroma would soon entice her from her slumber.
As Lena cooked, a sense of contentment enveloped her. This simple act of making breakfast for Kara had become something special, something she looked forward to. A testament to the love she felt for Kara. Each time, Kara's surprise and excitement for the meal only deepened Lena's appreciation for the woman in her life.
It hadn't always been this way. Lena recalled the years they had spent hiding behind fears and uncertainties, denying the undeniable connection that had always simmered beneath the surface. The tension between them had been palpable, but it took time and circumstance to bring them together, and she was grateful for every turn that brought them to this moment.
Now, as she stood in the kitchen, filling plates with eggs, bacon, and fluffy pancakes, Lena couldn't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude. Kara's presence in her life had transformed everything, turning the mundane into the extraordinary. She marveled at how a simple act of making breakfast for her girlfriend could make her so happy.
Lena carefully arranged the tray, placing the freshly cooked breakfast and steaming coffee upon it. With the tray in her hands, Lena made her way back to the bedroom.
Pushing open the door, she entered the room to find Kara still nestled in the bed, sound asleep. The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow upon her peaceful form. Lena's heart fluttered as she approached the bed, captivated by the sight of her beautiful partner, a vision of serenity.
With a smile playing on her lips, Lena set the tray on the night stand and leaned down, placing a tender kiss on Kara's soft lips. "Good morning, darling," she whispered, her voice carrying a mixture of affection and warmth.
Kara stirred, her sleepy smile breaking through as her eyes slowly fluttered open, adjusting to the gentle light. She wrapped the sheets around her naked body as she sat up, the morning air giving a slight chill to the room. As her gaze met Lena's, a spark ignited within her, and a smile that could melt hearts spread across her face. "Morning, beautiful," Kara greeted, her voice filled with love and adoration.
Lena's heart skipped a beat, as it did every morning when Kara greeted her with such genuine affection. The way Kara looked at her, as if she held the entire world in her eyes, made Lena feel so special. It was a feeling she could never tire of.
Lena's smiled as Kara's sleepy eyes widened in excitement at the sight of the carefully prepared breakfast tray. She brought it to the bed, placing it between them, creating a cozy space for breakfast in bed with her girlfriend.
Lena found herself entranced by Kara's presence as they ate. Her gaze wandered, admiring the way Kara's hair fell in tousled waves, framing her face with an ethereal beauty. The intimacy of sharing breakfast in bed, the simple act of spending a Sunday morning together, held a significance that transcended the ordinary.
As they finished their breakfast, Kara leaned in, capturing Lena's lips in a sweet morning kiss, filled with tenderness and affection. Lena could tase the bitterness of the coffee and the sweetness of the pancakes on Kara's lips.
Kara stood up, allowing the sheet to gracefully fall from her body, and Lena's eyes traced every curve, every line that made up Kara's exquisite form. The morning light danced upon her skin, accentuating her beauty in a way that took Lena's breath away.
Kara turned to Lena, her eyes sparkling with playful mischief, and issued an invitation that sent a shiver of anticipation down Lena's spine. "Join me for a shower, Miss Luthor?" she asked, her voice laced with both innocence and seduction.
A surge of heat flushed through Lena's body. She nodded, her voice husky with desire, "Certainly, Miss Danvers."
As Lena followed Kara into the bathroom, she couldn't help but notice the perfection of the moment.
--
Lena stepped out of the shower, wrapping her towel around her, the steam from the bathroom still clinging to her skin. She followed Kara into the room, the echoes of Kara's touch, which had brought her to the peak of pleasure mere moments ago, still reverberating within her and the taste of Kara lingering on her lips.
Before getting dressed, Lena pressed a soft kiss to Kara's lips and Kara smiled, lighting up the overcast day.
As Lena dressed, she couldn't help but steal glances at Kara, who mirrored her actions. The sight of Kara slipping on Lena's old MIT sweatshirt tugged at her heartstrings. It was a seemingly insignificant gesture, but one that held profound meaning. Lena knew it was cheesy, but the sight of Kara in her clothes always made her happy. She thought back to the night she had first lent Kara the sweatshirt. It had been a casual movie night at Lena's penthouse, back when they were still just friends and hiding behind their fears, when Kara, in her adorably clumsy manner, had accidentally spilled wine on her shirt, leaving an indelible stain. Lena had offered her the sweatshirt to change into.
The following morning, Lena had walked past the guest bedroom and caught a glimpse of Kara peacefully asleep, her face nestled against the fabric of the sweatshirt. Lena had felt a surge of happiness, a glimpse into a potential future with Kara, even though fear held her back from pursuing it fully. In that moment, she had wished that she was waking up next to Kara, instead of in a different bed. She never asked for the sweatshirt back, thinking that it had never looked as good as it did on Kara. And now, she watched as her girlfriend slipped into that same sweater, and marvelled at how their relationship had shifted into something greater than she could have ever dared to wish for.
Lena, now clad in a cozy sweater, observed Kara's struggle with her tousled hair, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips. She knew all too well that the disarray was a result of her desperate fingers that had been tangled in Kara's hair just a few minutes ago. Unable to resist, Lena stepped forward, positioning herself behind Kara, their bodies lightly brushing against each other.
Gently, Lena gathered Kara's hair, skillfully pulling it up into a neat ponytail. Lena couldn't help but press a tender kiss to Kara's neck, feeling the delightful hitch in Kara's breath. Sensing Kara's reaction, Lena's heart skipped a beat.
Kara turned around, her lips meeting Lena's in a kiss that immediately reignited Lena's desire. They reluctantly broke the kiss, their panting breaths mingling in the air.
"Darling, if we continue like this, we'll never leave this room," Lena whispered, her voice laced with a mix of playfulness and longing.
Kara's lips curved into a mischievous smile. "Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing," she teased.
Lena chuckled, her fingers tenderly brushing against Kara's cheek. "As tempting as that sounds, my love, I do have some work to finish," she admitted reluctantly.
Kara pouted adorably, her brows furrowing in a mock plea. "Can't you take a break? We could watch a movie together," she suggested.
Lena's resistance wavered and she smiled, giving in to Kara.
"Alright, I'll join you on the couch," she agreed, her voice tinged with amusement. "But I'm bringing my laptop so I can work while we watch," she added, a hint of doubt creeping into her words. She knew deep down that productivity would be a distant memory in Kara's presence.
A gentle rain began to fall outside as they snuggled up on the couch, a soft blanket enveloping them and Kara leaned comfortably against Lena. Lena immediately abandoned any thought of work, completely captivated by the presence of Kara beside her. Instead of opening her laptop, she wrapped her arms lovingly around Kara, pulling her closer.
With a bowl of popcorn nestled between them, Kara took charge of the movie selection, choosing a ridiculously scary film that promised thrills and chills. As the tension built on the screen, Kara couldn't help but react to every jump scare, her startled jumps accompanied by infectious laughter from Lena. With each suspenseful twist and unexpected scare, Kara's body jolted, eliciting genuine jumps and yelps. The contrast between Kara's invincible nature and her vulnerability to cinematic frights amused Lena to no end.
As Kara absentmindedly fed Lena popcorn, Lena's fingers playfully grazed Kara's cheek, tenderly brushing stray strands of hair behind her ear. She pressed a gentle kiss to Kara's head, and in that moment, the world outside seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them enveloped in their own little universe.
--
Later that evening, Lena stood by the kitchen counter, a warm smile gracing her lips as she watched Kara expertly mix cookie batter. They were eagerly preparing a batch of cookies in anticipation of a visit from Alex, Kelly, and Lena's adorable goddaughter, Esme.
As Lena's gaze traveled up Kara's face, she noticed a dusting of flour on Kara's cheek. Lena's smiled, finding the sight irresistibly adorable. With a soft chuckle, she leaned in, her thumb gently wiping away the flour as she pressed a kiss to Kara's lips.
"Seems like you've got a little something right here," Lena murmured. "You know, you're incredibly adorable like this," she continued, capturing Kara's lips in another sweet kiss. Lena's hands instinctively found their place on Kara's waist, pulling her closer as the kiss deepened. She could taste the sweetness of the batter that Kara had tried as she mixed. The bowl of cookie batter slipped out of Kara's hands, and landed on the counter with a loud clatter, causing them to break apart laughing. Thankfully, it landed the right way, and the batter was safe.
Kara glanced up, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "If you keep distracting me like that, there will be no cookies and you'll have to explain that to Esme."
Lena laughed, holding her hands up.
"Okay, okay. No more distractions. I don't want to suffer Esme's wrath."
Kara grinned at Lena as she picked up the cookie batter again. They resumed their baking duties, their movements synchronized as they mixed, scooped, and placed cookie dough on the baking sheet.
"Esme is growing up so fast," Kara said with a fond smile, leaning against the counter as Lena carefully placed the final tray of cookies in the oven, "I can't believe it'll be her birthday soon. We need to find her the perfect birthday gift."
Lena nodded as she picked up the bowl of leftover batter, scooping some out with her fingers to taste, her mind already spinning with ideas. "I was thinking something cool, like a drone or a mini electric car."
Kara chuckled. "Maybe for this birthday we could think a bit smaller. Something cute and small that won't cause absolute destruction to their house?"
Lena always wanted to spoil Esme, because what was the point of being a billionaire if she couldn't spend a lot of money on the people she loved? And she loved that little girl so much. But she knew that Kara was right. Esme could be a handful and putting a drone control, or the steering wheel of a little car in those little hands could only lead to disaster.
"Okay," Lena relented, "We'll go shopping next weekend. To find something small," She jokingly rolled her eyes as she said the last part and Kara stuck her tongue out at Lena.
Just then, the elevator's cheerful ding announced the arrival of their guests. Kara's face lit up with a wide grin, knowing that Alex, Kelly, and Esme had finally arrived. But as they left the kitchen, a whirlwind of energy collided with Lena, catching her off guard and sending her tumbling to the floor. It was Esme, the little bundle of joy, who had thrown herself into Lena's arms with uncontainable excitement.
But the excitement didn't stop there. As Lena tried to stand up, Kara, unable to resist the playfulness, launched herself on top of the hugging duo. Esme's giggles filled the air as she squirmed and wriggled, thoroughly tickled by the combined efforts of Lena and Kara. The sound of their laughter mixed with Esme's infectious joy, creating a harmonious melody of purehappiness.
Alex and Kelly entered, witnessing the scene with fond exasperation. Looking at Kelly, Alex playfully muttered, "They're all children," shaking her head at the sight before them.
Eventually, they managed to regain their breath and composure, standing up from the laughter-filled heap. Esme's eyes widened as the delightful aroma of freshly baked cookies reached her senses, and with a burst of anticipation, she sprinted towards the kitchen, enthusiastically chanting, "Cookies!"
Lena's laughter accompanied her as she watched Esme's infectious excitement. Meanwhile, Kara hurriedly followed Esme into the kitchen. Lena warmly greeted Alex and Kelly, enveloping them in affectionate hugs and taking their coats.
Alex teasingly remarked, "You guys spoil her."
Lena grinned, "That's our job."
They entered the kitchen to the sight of Kara kneeling in front of Esme, breaking a cookie in half and offering one piece to the delighted little girl, and placing a piece in her own mouth. Kara's eyes sparkled with joy, her radiance captivating Lena in that very moment. It was a glimpse of perfection, a snapshot of happiness that Lena wished she could freeze in time. The soft glow of the kitchen lights danced in Kara's eyes, and Lena couldn't help but get lost in them.
In that moment, Lena's gaze lingered on Kara, captivated by her warmth and the way she effortlessly embraced the role of nurturing aunt. It was in these simple acts of love that Lena's heart expanded with a longing for a forever with Kara.
As Kara's eyes met Lena's, a knowing smile graced her lips.
--
As the evening drew to a close, Lena and Kara found themselves in the cozy confines of their kitchen, the remnants of a delightful evening with Alex, Kelly, and Esme still lingering in the air. Lena stood by the sink, her hands submerged in warm, soapy water, washing the dishes with a contented smile. Kara, her ever-enthusiastic self, stood by her side, ready to assist by drying and putting away the dishes.
Lena glanced at Kara, her heart swelling with affection as she handed over another plate for her to dry and put away. "You know, I really enjoyed tonight," Lena murmured softly, her voice carrying a tinge of happiness.
Kara beamed, reaching out to take the dish from Lena's hands.
As they focused on the domestic task at hand, their conversation shifted towards their plans for the upcoming day.
"So, Super Reporter, what exciting adventures await you tomorrow?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Kara had been making waves with her articles recently, and Lena couldn't be prouder.
Kara's eyes sparkled with excitement as she spoke. "I have an exclusive interview with the CEO of ZinTech for their new tech unveiling. He never speaks to anyone!"
Lena's lips curled into a proud smile as she admired Kara's passion. "Well, you're not just anyone, are you?"
Kara blushed adorably, and immediately turned her attention to Lena. "And what about you, my brilliant CEO? Any big plans for tomorrow?"
Lena's expression softened, her gaze locking with Kara's. "I have a crucial meeting with the board of a company I hope to acquire. I need to convince them that our visions align. It's a bit nerve-wracking."
Lena had been stressed. This board was notoriously difficult to deal with, and the company was in demand. So they were being extra picky, knowing that they had every option available. Lena had to present herself as the best option.
Kara reached out, her hand gently caressing Lena's cheek. "Lena, you'll do amazing. They'll be lucky to have you. And besides, who could resist Lena Luthor?"
Lena couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth in her chest. Kara had an uncanny ability to make her feel like she could conquer the world. She leaned into the touch, reveling in Kara's affectionate reassurance. Before she knew it, Kara leaned in and pressed a tender kiss against Lena's cheek, filling her with a sense of comfort.
"Thank you, Kara," Lena whispered, her voice tinged with adoration.
As Lena and Kara finished the last of the dishes, Lena turned to survey the kitchen. A sense of warmth and homeliness enveloped the space, replacing the once stark and empty atmosphere. Before Kara moved in, the kitchen had been a utilitarian area, devoid of personal touches. It had been a place where Lena stored her takeout containers in the fridge and occasionally paused for a glass of wine. But now, it was so much more.
Lena's eyes scanned the room, taking note of the subtle signs that marked their life together. A plant they both took turns watering stood in the corner, it's leaves vibrant and beautiful. On the shelves, colourful mugs that Kara liked to collect were lined up, each more ridiculous than the next. A cookie jar sat on the counter and Kara ensured that it was always stocked with Lena's favourites. Lena couldn't help but smile at that.
Kara's coat hung on the back of a chair, and Lena's heels were tucked under the table, exactly where they had left them on Friday night when they sat at this table to eat the pizza Kara had flown to Central City for.
Lena didn't even realise when her stark penthouse had turned into a home.
--
Lena climbed into bed, snuggling against the soft pillows, book in hand. Meanwhile, Kara moved around adjoining closet, carefully packing away her notebooks and laptop for the next day, fidgeting with her recorder.
The bedroom was filled with the soft glow of the bedside lamp, casting a warm ambiance that invited relaxation. Lena was immersed in her book, allowing herself to be transported to another world.
However, her blissful reading was interrupted by the sound of Kara's footsteps approaching the bedroom. Lena couldn't help but feel a mixture of amusement and anticipation. She knew all too well that Kara had a knack for playfully distracting her.
As Kara climbed into bed beside her, Lena pretended not to notice, determined to maintain her focus on the book. But Kara had other plans. With a mischievous smile dancing on her lips, she leaned in and planted a series of gentle kisses along Lena's neck and behind her ear.
Lena's breath hitched, a jolt of pleasure coursing through her veins. She fought to keep her attention on the words before her, but Kara's touch was a tantalizing distraction. Her fingertips traced a path of light feathery strokes along Lena's arms, her waist, and gradually ventured to her thighs.
Sensations swirled within Lena, her heart quickening its pace. The words on the pages became blurry, as Kara's playful exploration ignited a fierce desire within her. Lena could feel the intensity building, the craving for Kara's touch growing stronger with each passing moment.
Unable to resist any longer, Kara slowly pulled Lena's book away, her eyes darkening with a hunger that mirrored Lena's own longing. The room seemed to hum with a charged energy as their gazes locked.
In that exhilarating instant, Lena surrendered to the magnetic pull between them. With a surge of passion, she reached out and pulled Kara closer, their lips meeting in a fiery, passionate kiss. Their mouths melded together, igniting a blaze that consumed them both.
Kara's hands instinctively found their way to Lena's waist, pulling her in closer, intensifying the connection between them. The world around them faded into insignificance as they lost themselves in each other.
--
As Lena drifted off to sleep, her arms wrapped tightly around Kara, she couldn't help but utter a silent wish to spend every Sunday for the rest of her life like this- with Kara.
The End

Training Day
Tumblr media
〖Summary: Alex takes care of Lena while Kara is away.〗
〖Word Count: 1k〗
〖Pairing: Alex x sick Lena (platonic)〗
〖Notes: Please forgive me for my very little knowledge of military training. I've been trying to write this for a very long time so I also apologize if it's a bit iffy in places but I do really hope you enjoy it. Also were not discussing the title, I don't have anything better in me today.〗
Lena huffed and crossed her arms, glaring down the short-haired DEO agent in front of her. She had been forced to wake up at the ungodly hour of five am to beat Alex in a fight. For some reason, the DEO decided that even a scientist would need to go through the same extensive training as the field agents.
It had started a few days ago and mirrored what she imagined Navy Seal training would be like plus a few extras directly on how to fight aliens. That included assembling special guns, a written test about which alien had which fighting styles as well as a basic course in how to treat different poisons the aliens might possess and which would kill you in an instant. These weren’t the only things but they were the ones she cared enough to remember.
The thing that had really gotten Lena was the mile swim. In what world would she need to swim a mile she had no idea but apparently, it was a requirement. She wasn’t a bad swimmer but she wasn’t fantastic either. She’d managed to complete the mile swim in just under the allotted time. The salt in the icy ocean clung to her clothes and hair making the experience all that much worse.
That was thankfully the only test of the day but it left Lena freezing, unable to warm up no matter what she did. The cold also reminded her of the scratchy throat she’d had for a few days and brought more attention to other symptoms that had remained milder. The barely sore throat quickly turned to something much more painful and it was like over the span of a few hours she had developed what she was sure would be an awful cold.
Her nose was running nonstop to the point where she had just decided to hold a tissue against it so that she didn’t have to keep throwing them away. Her head throbbed with every beat of her heart and she’d wrapped herself tightly in a soft blanket before falling asleep on the couch, her hair still wet.
None of that mattered. She couldn’t let it matter, there was just no time for that. She wasn’t sure when they would let her go through this training again. No matter how much she argued about her close combat skills she was still told that she needed to fight the second in command that of course being Alex.
It had been a long time since she’d squared up against such a well-trained opponent and knew that in her current state, there was simply no way that she’d win. Her goal was just to go for as long as she could before either her body gave out or Alex got bored. She was hoping for the latter which would save her some embarrassment.
So far that plan wasn’t working. Alex had pinned her four times, the rounds lasting only a few minutes each. The longest she’d managed to hold her own was five minutes and she knew that she’d need to prove she could last longer if she ever wanted to be officially allowed in the field. The field being her lab in the DEO.
“C’mon Luthor, let's go. One more then we break.” Alex ordered, raising her fists. Lena did the same, assuming a fighting stance. The world was swimming around her, making it difficult to keep her eyes focused on the brunette in front of her. She was trying to track Alex’s movements but the woman kept doubling and shifting, her movements glitching in and out of Lena’s view.
When the kick swept her legs she didn’t put her arms out to stop herself much to Alex’s surprise. The young CEO began to fall, her eyes wide and bewildered. Alex reached out quickly and grabbed Lena’s wrist, managing to catch the bit of skin that wasn’t covered by her sleeve.
Just by touching her wrist, she could tell that the heat was more than a normal higher temperature caused by exercise. Lena's skin was clammy and slick with sweat. As Alex examined her closer she noticed the red nose and hair stuck to her forehead with more sweat. Her friend was shivering hard, curling in on herself.
“Geez, you’re burning up.” Alex moved the back of her hand from Lena’s cheek and laid her palm against the shivering woman's forehead. The sleepy woman sniffled quietly and shrugged, not speaking. She was too tired to talk, there was just not enough energy in her body to pretend anymore.
“Alright. I’m going to take you home, did you bring a change of clothes?” She asked, wrapping an arm around Lena’s waist to take most of her weight. The younger Luthor sagged heavily against the agent, barely able to stand on trembling legs.
“No,” Lena answered, offering no further explanation. Alex rolled her eyes, smiling fondly down at the woman she assumed would be her future sister-in-law. She’d seen the box in the drawer of Kara’s bedside table and her sister had sworn her to secrecy.
“Okay. I’ll get you home soon, you won’t have to be in these clothes for very long. And, you’re showering as soon as we get back. You smell.” She teased, getting a little whimper from the woman leaning against her. With another eye-roll, Alex scooped Lena up so that she was carrying her bridal style.
“Why?” Her charge asked, not hesitating to rest her head on Alex’s shoulder. She was pretty sure that she had no other choice, her body was utterly devoid of strength.
“This is just easier Little Luthor. As soon as we get you settled I’m going to call Kara, alright?” Lena nodded, closing her eyes as she was carried out of the training room. She’d fought hard against this virus but for now, she was down for the count. At least she would have Alex there to look after her until the woman she loved got home.

A Pleasant Ruse
Fandom: Supergirl
Characters: Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, Andrea Rojas, Alex Danvers, Winn Schott
Summary: Lena runs into her ex-Andrea who wants her back. Lena panics and tells her that Kara is her girlfriend. Will Kara be willing to help Lena keep up the ruse?
Lena looked at her phone and sighed as she walked down the street. L-Corp stock was down again after Lex’s latest stunt against Superman. The Board was at each other’s throats about what to do. Normally, these things didn’t get to her, but today she just felt like curling into a little ball and hiding in the middle of nowhere.
“Sometimes I wish I could go somewhere where no one knew my name,” muttered Lena.
Normally, she would wallow in her apartment and drink the night away, but she knew she didn’t have to do that anymore, especially with Kara and her friends. She blushed when she thought of Kara. Every time she smiled, it would light up the room. She was hoping a little of that light would rub off on her today. When she called Kara an hour ago, she was happy that she was available to talk but was wondering if Lena would be able to do so at Noonan’s. She was saving seats for some of the others in their friend group. Lena would rather they be alone, but she realized that she did call Kara out of the blue without necessarily considering her current plans. Also, her curiosity was piqued. Noonan’s wasn’t normally opened passed 10 p.m. during the week. However, it was currently 10:39 p.m.
After five more minutes, she began to see the outline of Noonan’s but was surprised to see not only was the place lit up, but there were multiple cars parked down the block. As she got closer, she noticed that the place was packed. It was more crowded than the morning rush. When she got inside, Lena looked around the crowded room and smiled when she saw Kara hopping up and down waving at her from the back. She shook her head and tried to maneuver her way towards Kara.
As she got closer, she nearly stopped and blushed. Lena didn’t notice before because she could only see Kara’s face and arms when she was at the front of the restaurant, but now that she was in front of the blonde, she was surprised at what she was wearing. She had on a green short-sleeved crop top, black short shorts, and brown hiking shoes. Her hair was flowing down her back. The entire outfit highlighted Kara’s muscular form. Kara usually wore things that covered her fully. She didn’t realize that Kara had a hardcore twelve-pack abs, and toned legs and arms. She gulped when Kara hugged her tightly. She could feel the heat in her face growing. Lena had to fight to keep her arms next to her instead of caressing her abs.
“Lena, I am glad that you were able to come out!” exclaimed Kara excitedly.
“Me too,” squeaked Lena.
As they went to sit down, Kara stared at her with a frown.
“Are you ok? Your face looks a little flushed and you are panting.”
Lena tried to seem unfazed but felt like her brain was in overdrive.
She started fanning herself and shakily said, “I’m, um, fine. Yes, I am fine.”
Kara stared at her hesitantly and said, “You don’t seem so sure.”
Lena let out a nervous laugh and said, “Don’t worry. I just got winded trying to get back here. I don’t think I have ever seen this place so packed before, even during their morning rushes.”
“Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention that they are having an event here tonight. You know the author Helena Bromfield?”
Lena nodded and said, “Ah, yes! She has a bunch of popular action books.”
“Yup! That is the one. Well, she is having a book reading for her latest novel: Alana and the Lost Civilization of Atlantis at midnight tonight. She will then host a Q&A followed by a book signing. That is why a lot of the people here are in costume.”
Lena looked around and felt a little foolish. She had been so focused on seeing Kara that she didn’t notice the outfits everyone was wearing. They all looked like they were out of some archeological action movie. Lena shook her head and stared back at Kara.
“I never took you as one that was into cosplaying. You look very good as Alana.”
Lena felt her face flushed again and looked down.
Good doesn’t begin to describe it. She looks sexy as hell.
Lena had to slowly breathe in and out to try to control her racing heart. Lena had secretly been a fan of Bromfield’s work. Her mother always disapproved of sci-fi and fantasy. Her thoughts were living in reality was more important than make-believe. However, the books offered her a brief escape from all the trauma of that household, mostly done by Lex. She would imagine going on an adventure with the Great Alana as she explored distant worlds and planets. She recently had been fantasizing about Kara as Alana and whisking her off on an amazing adventure. The thought caused her to blush harder.
Can’t believe I get to live out part of my fantasy!
Kara chuckled while rubbing the back of her neck and said, “Thanks! I wasn’t sure if I could pull this off.”
Lena stared at her dumbfounded.
She thinks she couldn’t pull it off! She looks ten times better than the initial character description for Alana. I am surprised that guys and girls aren’t flocking to her now!
Lena cleared her throat and said, “You pull off the look amazingly. I’m surprised the other people cosplaying as Alana don’t look at you with envy.”
Kara blushed while laughing.
“You are too kind.”
They looked at each other shyly for a moment before Lena asked, “If the book reading doesn’t start until midnight, why are people here so early?”
“Good seating. Alex made me promise to get here at 9 to save seating for her and Winn since they wouldn’t be able to get here until after 11. I got here at 10, and I had to fight people in order to get this booth since it was so packed.”
Lena chuckled which caused Kara to frown.
“What’s so funny?” pouted Kara.
“I didn’t mean to laugh. It is just that I wished I had gotten here sooner to see you try to defend your territory.”
Kara chuckled and said, “It didn’t get nearly as dramatic as that. I just gave a very stern look until they backed off.”
Lena raised an eyebrow and said coyly, “Really? A stern look?”

Old Friends
Paring: Alex Danvers/Kelly Olsen, Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor, Samantha Arias/Andrea Rojas, mentioned Alex Danvers/Samantha Arias
Words count: 3,748
Read on AO3
It has been a long time since Alex last saw Samantha Arias.
That any of the Super Friends - she already told Kara this was a stupid name - saw her, really.
Right after Sam moved to Metropolis, Alex and her would still talk, send texts to check on each other, until they naturally subsided to the point where they were now. They hadn’t talked for years, although Alex liked Sam’s Instagram posts when she saw them. In all honesty, Alex talked more with Ruby than with her mother because the girl posted funny things in her stories and Alex replied to them often. She also congratulated Ruby every time the teenager posted about her soccer games, but that was it.
That’s why Alex was sitting at the kitchen table looking over at the envelope in her hands with a frown clear on her face. And that’s how Kelly found her when she walked out of their room wearing her gym clothes and aiming for the fridge so she could grab her water bottle. She took a second glance at her fiancée, though, and changed her path.
Kelly stopped behind Alex and gently put her hands on her shoulders, soothing her hands down to her elbows and back up again. Alex sighed at the touch and raised her fingers to touch the back of one of Kelly’s hands, smiling gladly to herself when her skin alight with the simple touch. Kelly smiled too when she felt the older woman relaxing against the chair, then she kissed the top of Alex’s head and asked quietly: “Will you tell me about her?”
Alex threw her head back to look up at Kelly, her eyes wide and mouth slightly agape in surprise, but she was only met with soft eyes and a soft smile. “What?”
“Her,” Kelly pointed at the envelope in Alex’s hand and the other woman followed her finger, reading the name written there for the hundredth time since she sat there to start sending their wedding invitations. Samantha Arias and family, written in the fancy cursive they had chosen. “You’ve been changing your mind about inviting her. I got curious, I’m not going to lie.” Alex bit her bottom lip, unsure how she was supposed to answer that, but Kelly kept touching her and then rested her chin on Alex’s head. “Our guest list was in a shared document, you know? I saw her name appear and disappear a couple of times,” she explained.
“I don’t think there’s much to say,” Alex ended up mumbling after thinking about it for a second. “I don’t know if I should invite her. I don’t even know if she would attend it.”
“Well, that’s why it’s called an invitation,” Kelly teased her lightly. “We sent them the invitation and they tell us if they can attend our wedding or not.”
“Wait, what? No way,” Alex joked along, pretending to be shocked at the revelation. “I kinda told everyone Viola Davis would attend our wedding.”
Kelly laughed and jokingly slapped the redhead's arm before taking a step back to pull the chair beside Alex to sit down. “Come on, tell me.”
“Weren’t you supposed to be somewhere else?” Alex arched one eyebrow at her fiancée, looking her outfit up and down to make her meaning clear.
The woman waved a hand to dismiss the comment, but replied anyway: “I said Nia I would meet her at the gym for a workout before the pilates class, but she won’t mind.”
“Is Lena attending the pilates class as well? She keeps saying she doesn’t do exercises, but I don’t believe that.”
“Hey,” Kelly pointed her index finger at Alex, “I won’t share any juice if you don’t do it first,” she teased.
Alex laughed lowly and shook her head in that lovingly way she did to her family. She put the envelope down and crossed her arms when she turned her chair a bit to face Kelly completely, taking some precious seconds to decide if she should tell the whole story or not. It was Kelly, though, her fiancée, future wife, the mother of her children, and she trusted Kelly without an ounce of doubt - and maybe she should apologize to Kara one day for being so exasperated every time her sister said they could trust Lena.
“Sam is an old friend,” she started, choosing the easiest path to start with. “She’s a friend of Lena, actually. She moved to National City a few years ago and she was working with Lena, so we all met her. I had just broken up with Maggie when we met and Sam had a lot on her plate at the time. She has a daughter that was a pre-teen then, and there were some other weird things also that I wish I could tell you more about, but it’s not actually my story to tell.”
Kelly nodded along her explanation, understanding more and more why Samantha Arias’ name kept coming up on her wedding guest list and disappearing again. She also understood why Alex didn’t want to tell her what the “weird things” were and respected her fiancée for her loyalty to her friends. It did make her a bit more sure that she was doing the right thing when she asked Alex to marry her.
“Okay, so you two were that couple that could’ve been if you two weren’t in a strange place?” She asked just to be sure, although she was pretty certain that she read it right. Especially when Alex’s face turned a deep shade of red that made her bit her lip to hold back a laugh.
“Maybe?” Alex replied, but it sounded more like a question than an answer. She noticed it and sighed. “I suppose. I mean, we never talked about it, but we were really close before she moved back to Metropolis, and I really liked her daughter.”
“Is that the girl that commented on one of our photos?” Kelly wondered, thinking back to a time when Alex posted a photo of both of them early when they started dating - and before her fiancée decided to disappear from social media. “Something about ‘you go, Alex’?”
The redhead groaned and hid her face behind her palms for a second, but she was smiling widely when she looked back at Kelly. “Yeah, that’s Ruby.”
Kelly laughed then. “Well, I like her already,” she declared simply. “So, why are you debating with yourself if you should or should not invite them to the wedding?”
Alex gulped, definitely avoiding her eyes when she spoke again. “I thought it might be a bit weird?”
“Weird?” The psychologist repeated the word, raising her brows.
“I thought so,” Alex said almost in a defensive tone. “I thought you might be upset.”
“And instead of asking me if it was okay, you debated it with yourself for weeks, basically making yourself miserable and anxious for nothing?”
“Hey,” Alex joked, pointing a finger at the woman, “don’t analyze me.”
Kelly rolled her eyes fondly as she got up from her chair. “If they’re important to you, they should be invited to the wedding. Of course, I wouldn’t mind.” She leaned down to give Alex a quick peck on the lips.
“We haven’t spoken in a while,” Alex clarified. “But I think I would like to see them there.”
“Then sent the invitation, silly,” Kelly gently spoke, then she gave Alex another quick kiss. “I have to go now or Nia will ditch me saying I took too long to show up.”
“Okay. I will start dinner while you’re out.” Her fiancée was already halfway through the door when Alex called her again. “So, does Lena attend the pilates class or not?”
Kelly laughed when she saw the mischievous look on Alex’s face. “Yes, she does.”
“Knew it.” The other woman snapped her fingers once in front of her face before turning back her attention to the envelopes she still needed to send.
“She says she needs to work on her flexibility and stamina to keep up with Kara,” Kelly added as an afterthought while walking through the door with a loud laugh when she heard Alex groaning.
“I didn’t need to know that!” The agent shouted to her back, but Kelly was walking away already and Alex was left alone shaking her head.
[...]
“Hey, kiddo!” Alex greeted when she saw Ruby approaching her.
The girl was wearing a beautiful dress and sneakers instead of heels, but the outfit suited her so well that Alex could only smile at that. When she got closer, Alex noticed that she was also taller than she remembered the girl being and it was easy to see she got her mother’s genetics on that. She also looked older, definitely a teenager now, but her dimpled smile was still the same and Alex felt her chest warmer with the sight of her.
“Wow, there, kiddo,” Alex said when she pulled the girl into a hug. “Who told you you could outgrow me?” She joked.
Ruby laughed, but it wasn’t her who answered. “I already forbid her to get any taller than that or she will officially be taller than me and we can’t have that.”
Alex pulled away from Ruby to see that Sam had walked over behind her daughter with one of her signature soft smiles. Ruby took a step to the side to give them some space to hug as well and Alex couldn’t help but feel she did the right choice by inviting them for her wedding. She had missed them, and having them there was helping her remember how much that small little family meant to her. Even if Sam and her never got any further than a thought, she still cared about them and she was glad they could both be present at the most important day of her life.
“Is she listening to you, though?” Alex asked when she pulled away.
Mother and daughter stood side by side after that and it was shocking to see that Sam didn’t have to look down at Ruby anymore. The teen actually laughed again when she shrugged and Sam glanced at Alex again. “Oh, you try to make a teenage girl listen to you,” she replied with humor.
“Oh, don’t tell me,” Alex groaned, jumping into the joke as if they had just seen each other a week ago. “I’m trying not to get worried about it already.”
“Told you to wait a few more years to start freaking out over this.”
Alex’s entire body lighted when she felt Kelly’s hand on her small back, joining their conversation with her bright smile that never failed to make Alex a bit weak on the knees. The redhead's response was to roll her eyes good-naturedly and wrap her arm around her wife’s waist. “Kelly, those are Sam and Ruby,” she introduced them, not shocked at all when Kelly’s smile widened. “This is Kelly, who turns out became my wife like half and hour ago,” the agent joked.
They all shared a laugh while Sam reached out her hand to shake Kelly’s, all politely as a good CEO always was. “It’s nice to meet you, Kelly.”
“Same goes to you. Alex said great things about you and your daughter.”
Ruby chose to only wave at Kelly’s direction, not wanting to be as formal as her mother but also not wanting to step over by hugging the woman. “Did she tell you I’m the most amazing soccer player she ever saw?”
Alex groaned while Kelly and Sam laughed. “Okay, kiddo, I see you don’t have that teenage low self-esteem going on.”
Ruby shrugged all while smiling at them, but she suddenly turned her head and gasped when she saw something. “Mom, I see aunt Lena!”
“Go talk to her then,” Sam pointed in the direction she saw her old friend walking by talking with a girl she didn’t know. “Sorry, we got here this afternoon and didn’t have time to catch up with Lena before,” she explained as her daughter wandered off.
“That’s fine,” Alex assured her. “No one takes space in her heart like aunt Lena does.”
Sam nodded in agreement, looking back at them, but her eyes quickly glanced down when she saw a little girl running at them. She only stopped after hugging Alex’s leg and the woman’s hand immediately found its way to the girl’s golden locks as she smiled down at her.
“Esme, honey, say hi to Sam,” Kelly asked gently, earning a confused look from the girl before she understood who her mother was talking about.
“Hi,” she whispered when she noticed Sam for the first time, quickly hiding behind Alex’s legs after that, and Sam was suddenly reminded of a much younger Ruby doing the same thing with her.
Sam crouched down in front of her after picking up the body of her dress with one hand. “Hello there, sweetie. It’s nice to meet you.” Esme seemed less ashamed when the tall woman in front of her became more eyed level with her, although she still kept a safe distance that Sam respected without question. “She’s a sweet girl,” she commented while raising herself from the floor, a smile always in place.
“She is,” Alex agreed easily with that motherly smile that Sam had seen on herself many times before.
“Why don’t you two catch up a little bit while I take this little bean to dance, huh?” Kelly asked, already bending down to pick Esme up in her arms. “I will see you around,” Kelly said as a departure towards Sam before she walked away with Esme hugging her neck happily.
After she left, Alex still watched both of them for a while, until a small chuckle left her lips. “She makes it really impossible for me not to think I’m the luckiest woman alive.”
Sam noticed the loving smile, the glint in her eyes, the way the redhead seemed to shine brightly with happiness, and was instantly glad to see that Alex had achieved her dreams. She knew Alex, though, and she knew that the woman wouldn’t keep that romantic façade for long, even on her wedding day, because Alex wasn’t one to use her emotions on her sleeve. “Think I heard something similar from Lena a few weeks ago,” she joked then.
Alex scoffed and turned her head to look back at Samantha with a knowing look that made the taller woman laugh. “Seriously, I was about to lock them inside a room and throw the key away. Would have, if Kara wouldn’t easily open it.” She rolled her eyes. “Your friend took long enough to grow a pair and tell my sister how she feels.”
“I could advocate for Lena here and say that Kara could also have done that, but I’m not a lawyer, so who cares?” Sam joked with a shrug. “They’re together now, we should take that as a win.”
Alex laughed at the lame joke and shook her head. “Yeah, you say that because they didn’t kiss for the first time in front of you.”
“She doesn’t mean it,” Kara’s voice sounded right behind Alex before she stopped beside her sister with a large grin. “But I would like to argue that I had every right to do that after everything that happened.” Sam was still chuckling when the tall blonde pulled her for a hug. “Hi, Sam! Long time no see.”
“Yes, life has been keeping me busy down at Metropolis,” Sam agreed with a smile as she pulled away. “You survived the first weeks dating Lena, so I will assume you’re okay.”
Kara laughed happily at that. “More than okay, actually. But I did hear you confirmed a plus one on the invitation,” she prodded, earning an eye roll from her sister.
“Really, Kara? Be a little more subtle the next time.”
“What?” The blonde asked in an attempt to defend herself. “It was just a comment!”
Sam smiled at them both. “That’s okay. I did bring someone with me, but she saw the bar and I’m pretty sure I lost her for the night,” she laughed while looking around as if she was searching for someone.
“You have to introduce us later,” Kara said. “I’m going to find Lena, excuse me.”
“I should also try to find Lena, actually. It’s been a while since we last saw each other,” Sam declared gently. “And I don’t want to hold you here when you have so many guests to talk to.”
“I will find you and Ruby again later on,” Alex promised. “I missed the sweetest teenager I ever saw.”
Sam smiled proud of her own daughter and nodded. They parted ways shortly after, with Alex moving on to talk to another of her guests while Sam started looking into the crowd to find her daughter and friend. It didn’t take that long to do so as she saw Ruby first, then Lena standing in front of her with Kara by her side, an arm around her waist, and the same woman Sam had seen before. They were all close to the bar and she started approaching the small group with no hurry at all. She was just a few feet from them when she saw that there was someone basically hidden by Ruby’s height that she hadn’t seen before, but it made her smile widely.
“Whatever Lena tells you, do not believe what she says about the summer in junior year,” Sam made her presence known as she got close enough to be heard over the music playing in the background, making all heads turn towards her.
Her long-time friend rolled her eyes and huffed, pretending to fix her tie. “Samantha also lies about that, don’t rely on her narrative either.”
The teasing between the two made some laughs echo around the group and they shared a smile before pulling each other into a tight hug. It took them a few seconds to pull away from each other, but they did eventually and Sam found a spot beside Ruby to stand. She saw, with a knowing smirk, when Kara curled her arm around Lena again and the way her friend leaned against the blonde’s side without hesitating. She was happy Lena finally found her place.
“Sam, this is Nia,” her friend introduced the other brunette that Sam didn’t know. “Nia, this is Samantha Arias.”
“So formal,” Sam grumbled as she shook the girl’s hand. “Don’t mind her. Please, call me Sam.” After she let go of Nia’s hand, Sam placed her hand on the back of the shorter woman’s shoulders by her side. The gesture took the attention of everyone else, of course, but only Kara seemed surprised by that. “It didn’t take too long for me to introduce you two,” Sam said as she winked at Kara, who looked like a fish out of water for a moment.
“I, uh,” she stuttered as she blinked in surprise. “I know her. She’s… She’s my boss.”
Andrea scoffed from where she was sitting on the bar stool, quietly drinking her wine, and Sam looked down at her with a small smile that made her angry reply die on her lips. She rolled her eyes, mostly to herself, and looked down at her glass to keep herself from doing her usual jab, which made Sam chuckle softly at her. “Yes, I had a feeling that you two already knew each other. I mean, with CatCo and all.”
“Yeah,” Kara murmured. “And… all.”
Lena gently nudged the blonde’s side with her elbow, although she was the one that made a grimace since it felt like poking a brick wall. “I knew I was forgetting to tell you something.”
“You knew?” Kara asked.
Lena rolled her eyes lovingly at her, one of her hands raising to rest on Kara’s chest as she leaned on her side. “We can gossip later,” she teased, kissing the corner of Kara’s mouth and they all saw the hero’s entire body relax with the gesture.
“I wish that worked on you,” Sam commented in a light tone as she turned her head to look at Andrea, who just glared at her for long enough to make her laugh. She used both hands to run down the lapel of Andrea’s dark red suit and winked at her girlfriend. “But you bark and bite.”
“Oh, I don’t know, Sam,” Lena quickly joined the teasing against her longest-time friend. “She looked pretty tamed right now.”
“Shut up,” Andrea grumbled.
“She bought mom flowers once,” Ruby declared, earning a gasp from Andrea, that looked at her like she was just betrayed by the teen. “And she does travel to see mom, like, every week.”
“Okay, are you done putting your knife in my back?” Andrea scoffed.
Sam laughed at their antics and leaned down to kiss the side of Andrea’s head, before doing the same with Ruby. Andrea’s face turned a deep shade of red, which made Nia and Kara exchange a very, very, surprised look, but no one said a thing. After the initial shock, Nia cleared her throat.
“Well, Ruby, why don’t you come with me so these drunk ladies can drink alone? Alex and Kelly put a trampoline outside for Esme, but I know they were also thinking of me when they made that decision.”
Ruby giggled at the girl she met minutes ago and quickly looked at her mom to confirm it was fine to walk away. With Sam’s nod, Ruby let Nia grab her hand and easily followed her around the other guests.
“She did say we could drink now,” Lena commented with a smile before turning around to the bar to make their order.
“Drink?” They all turned in time to see Alex approaching them. “I got here at the right time, then.”
“So did I,” Kelly said as she walked over them just a second after her wife. “I need to keep an eye on you when you and Lena are drinking together, it’s a good thing Nia took Esme to the trampoline” she declared before hugging Alex’s side with a fake angry expression.
“So…” Lena called from the bar. “Wine, Kelly?”
“Of course,” the woman answered immediately, earning some laughs.
Soon the small group of women was toasting their drinks as the party around them kept going, clearly with every intention to celebrate Alex and Kelly’s love until the sun would rise again on the horizon.

Alex x niece & Eliza x granddaughter
Tumblr media
“Mom, I threw up.” You stand in front of her, the bathroom, lighting up your silhouette. “Mom?” Nudging her a bit, she fluttered her eyes open and asked what happened. “I threw up.” Your voice was raspy, the both of you could hear the sickness in it. Moving out of your moms way, she got up and left into the light of the blaring bathroom. Taking the opportunity to get into her bed, she came back out with a wash cloth,
“Do you feel hot?” Kara asked, thinking back to all the nights her older sister was sick and Eliza would be there to comfort her, not just that but make her feel better. She was almost always awake when this would happen, as she wanted to make sure her sister wasn’t in need of her own help. Now that the superhero had her own daughter, this information came in handy, but the kid hadn’t been so seriously sick since the adoption and moving in. You nodded your head, mumbling in agreement.
“My tummy hurts, too.” Kara wasn’t sure how to respond with something would psyhically help, “I’m sorry, honey, I know sleep will help.” You groan at her and turn over in her mother’s covers.
“No,” You whined, “it really hurts, mom.” Kara’s heart skipped a beat, from worry but also from guilt. She was always worried for her daughter, but Kara had never been sick here on Earth, she didn’t know how to specifically comfort her daughter, or even make her feel better like Eliza always had.
“You stay right here,” Kara laid the wash cloth on her daughter's forehead and moved out to her dark kitchen, ringing her sister.
“Alex, Y/n isn’t feeling well at all. She threw up, and I just don’t know how to make the sickness stop. You know I’ve never been sick. I need some help. Call me back, thanks.” Stopping the voice message, she took a second thinking about who could help her at a time like this.
“Kara, what are you doing calling me at this time of night?”
“Y/n’s sick and I don’t know what else to do to help her. I don’t want to give her some medicine and it kill her, she’s so fragile.”
“Your not gonna kill her, Kara-” Kara cut her adoptive mom off.
“I might,” Eliza could tell she was stressed.
“You won’t. She’s human Kara, she’ll be alright for the night.”
“Are you sure? She said her stomach hurts? How do I help with that? She threw up too.”
“You can make sure she doesn’t need to throw-”
“Y/n?” Kara blurted out, watching you run back into the bathroom and let the rest of your stomach go.
“Pull her hair back,” Kara pulls back your hair, wincing at the smell and tucked her phone between her shoulder and ear. “Make sure she doesn’t drink anything for a little while after throwing up, she might throw it all up again.”
“She's not a little baby.” Kara began to stroke your hair gently.
“But she will need fluids, just not right after. Make a washcloth for her, oh, hun, don’t forget to check her temperature. You guys try to get some sleep for the night and I’ll be over in the morning. Goodnight, Kara.”
“Eliza, I don't-” She hung up. Kara slumped over, catching her phone, holding most of your hair with the other hand, whilst setting her phone aside. Turning her focus back to you, she saw you were just hovering over the toilet. “Feeling better?” Her only answer was more chunks of last night's dinner flying into the toilet. After finally getting you clean of sickness from changing your clothes, wiping your face and doing the same to the bathroom, you and Kara got cozy in her bed.
“Sleep, baby. Tomorrow we’ll go to Alex and make sure you get better.”
“Mommy?”
“Yes…?”
“I want you to make me better, I’m not a patient.”
“Go to sleep, we’ll talk in the morning.” She kissed your red cheek.
The next morning…
You fluttered your eyes open to the noise of a voice coming from the kitchen. Your head ached, throat was dry and you were cold, so cold, even in your mom's thick covers. Again hearing someone in the kitchen. Kara was either trying to learn how to cook again, Alex was here or you were being robbed which didn't have much of a chance of being true.
“Moooom…” You groaned, the other voice abruptly stopping and she came into view from around the corner, immediately smiling when she saw you.
“How's my girl? Feeling better?” Before you could respond she continued almost excitedly. “I have some medicine, you said your stomach hurt? Does anything else hurt? Your head, do you have a runny nose, what about your throat, honey?” She was leaning over you, in an overbearing type of way.
You groaned again, “Everything.”
“Everything…?” Kara was confused and didn't understand how everything could be wrong, but tried to process it. “Okay… I’ll be right back…” She ran back to her computer when there was a knock on the door, and you called out for her again.
“Just a minute, Y/n/n,” She opened the door, “Eliza…!” She wasn't sure if she should be happy or overwhelmed.
“Kara! How is she feeling?” Kara took a deep breath.
“She told me everything hurts,” Right on cue you groaned out for her again. She walked back in and sat on the bed next to you.
“What's up?” Tucking the hair behind your ear, you sniffled.
“Am I sick?” Kara rests her face.
“I’m afraid so. Let's take your temperature.” When she moved to get up you pulled on her arm as she tried to get away. “Y/n, I’ll be right back.” She walked back to Eliza, as you move around trying to find a comfy position on the bed. Back in the kitchen Eliza had set her things down and was looking at the pile on the island table.
“Do you see the thermometer in there?” Eliza shook her head, moving back to her purse. “Damn,” Kara whispered to herself and started to look around for her coat.
“I brought one, Kara.” Eliza handed a thermometer out to her.
“No, I can go buy one, really, I need one anyway.” She chuckles lightly, gesturing to you in her bed. She could hear you groaning quietly from pain.
“Take it, make sure she’s not too hot.”
“Mommy come back now!” You yelled for her.
“Coming, sweetheart,” She took the thermometer and nodded in agreement, “Thank you.” Eliza smiled and as Kara raced over to you, Eliza came into view and saw how her daughter took care of you. She had no knowledge of sickness. Turning back towards the kitchen, wanting to make you something to eat Eliza saw the computer. It was open to a tab about how to care for a sick kid. Under the website ‘Wiki How’
“104.2? Is that bad?”
“What! 104? I’m calling Alex.”
“What? Is 104 a high temp?” Kara questioned unsure. You, on the verge of going back to sleep, your mom came and woke you up.
“Stooop! I was almost asleep.” You harshly move away from her, annoyed people were waking you up.
“I’m sorry, we have to go. Y/n,” She tried to pick you up, but your squirming was not helping. “Y/n, this is not the time.” She warned and you whined. “What's wrong? What's wrong?” She asked, starting to sound exhausted.
“I don't want to go.”
“I wish I didn't have to take you there, baby, but it'll make you feel better.” She tried again and you accepted her, dangling your arms around her neck loosely.
“Promise?”
“Promise.” Kara leaped out the window, Eliza on the phone with Alex who was getting you a bed made in MedBay.

You’d just came back from school a few minutes ago. You hang your backpack on the coat hanger, you walk to the kitchen to see your mom cooking something. “Mom? What are you doing.” you knew your mom wasn't a good cook at all. “Hi Honey! What does it look like I'm doing? I'm cooking dinner.” She said, leaving what she was doing to give you a hug. “ Where's Alex?” You ask, hugging her back. “What do you mean, where's Alex, she's in her home. Why would you even ask that?” She chuckled. “Mom, You know you can't cook anything. Except pancakes, your pancakes are delicious.” You said.
“Thank you, I guess. And you should know that I can follow instructions in a book.” You scoff, “No, you can't. Remember the mac and cheese.” You said, eyebrows raised. “ Ok first of all, the mac and cheese wasn't that messed up.” She said defending herself. “Mom you are in denial it tasted like burnt fish.” Kara faint, hurt by putting her hand on her heart and gasping. “ I am deeply hurt by your words, young lady.” You laughed and moved over to the stove. "So, what are you attempting to make?” “I am making spaghetti.” She said stirring the content of the pot.
You change out of your school clothes. You came back in the kitchen to see your mom placing the table. “ Come sit. Dinner's ready.” You sat down at the table and Kara places a plate in front of you. “That looks…good. Are you sure Alex is not hiding somewhere.” You asked.
“Stop doubting my cooking skills and eat. ”She said, sitting down in front of you. You took a bite of the food and was extremely surprised at the taste. It was surprisingly amazing. “So is it good.” Kara asked. “ Its incredible. Really, I love it.” You said taking another bite. “Told you.” She said, taking a bite herself.
“So, how was your day.” She asked. “It was good, boring as usual but good.” You replied. “Great. How's your boyfriend?” You froze at her question. 'How did she know.' you thought. Yes she was Supergirl but as far as you knew she couldn’t read mind.
“What do you mean, I don't have a boyfriend.” You said nervously, “Come on, you don't have to hide it from me. I know about Ben.” She said, looking you straight in the eyes. You looked down at your plate, knowing full well you could never lie looking her in the eye, each time you did you felt like she could Just look right through you, and you hated it.
“How would you know anything, since I don't have a boyfriend.” “ You know you always do the samething when you lie to me.” she said smirking. “ What thing?” “ You can't look me in the eyes.” “That's not true.” You denied. “ Ok then look me straight in the eyes and tell me you don't have a boyfriend.” She says. You raise your head up and look in her direction. “ I don't have a boyfriend.” You said, doing your best not to look away.
“I don't believe you.” She says taking a bite. “I'm telling the truth!” She shook her head. Letting you know she doesn't believe your lies even for a second.

Paying The Price
〚 Day 5 - Preventative Measures (Not Taken)  〛
〚 Pairing - Sanvers 〛
〚 Summary - Alex ends up paying the price when she doesn't take preventative measures at work. At least she'll have maggie to look after her. 〛

“Do you not think you should take a coat love?  It’s meant to get a little chilly later on according to the weather.” Maggie called out as Alex finished making her to-go cup of coffee into her flask, “Pretty sure its gonna rain too by the look of those clouds.”
The agent shook her head and waved her off with a reassuring smile, “It’ll be fine, I’m on roll to do a clinic shift anyway so it’s not like I’m gonna be out in the field or anything like that. I’ll just end up carrying it if I take it.
That was true. The DEO had recently got wind of a small clinic on the east side of the city which was specially made to treat aliens and offer things like vaccines and just provide general care to those individuals which didn’t feel comfortable in a regular clinic. As such, when the DEO found out, J’onn offered to provide agents as a form of security there as well as to keep things in order. Alex liked her shifts at the clinic, after all, the waiting room chitchat often inadvertently provided inside knowledge to help with ongoing issues, not only that but the environment itself was warm and friendly and the people there seemed to trust her too – she’d even made some friends.
“Alright then, have a good day at work darling.” Her girlfriend smiled, giving Alex a small kiss before she left, “Don’t forget you’re on food pickup duty tonight too.” She added playfully before beginning to make her own coffee, “I’m thinking pizza?”
Alex smiled as she picked up her bag and turned to leave, “I won’t forget, don’t worry! Pizza sounds good, alright I’m gonna head off, see you later, have a good day at work babe.” She said before leaving the apartment and making her way out to her car.
It wasn’t a long drive, about 40 minutes or so. When she arrived, Alex stepped out of the car and involuntarily shivered at the icy chill of the air nipping at her arms, maybe she should’ve brought a coat after all she thought, shaking her head with an eye roll knowing her girlfriend was right. At least she’d be inside for her shift though. As Alex walked through the clinic doors, she immediately noticed the bustling atmosphere. Aliens of various shapes and sizes filled the waiting area, patiently waiting for their turn to be seen by the doctors. It was definitely a lot busier than usual.
As the agent made her way to the small security desk to clock in, she couldn’t help but inwardly groan at the sight of the other agent on shift. Agent Wilson was one of those guys who never failed to get on her nerves. Something about his cocky, nonchalant attitude always seemed to rub her the wrong way.
“Agent Danvers it’s always nice of you to show.” He turned around upon hearing her footsteps approach, “I suppose you’ve got the delight of my company, how lucky.” The agent smirked before rooting around in his side pocket before pulling out black surgical mask and putting it on.
"I'm here to do my job, just like you," Alex replied, choosing to ignore his sarcastic remark, "What’s with the mask?” Wearing a mask wasn’t required or was it advertised so she couldn’t help but question it especially considering no other agents had chosen to wear them in the past.
Agent Wilson chuckled condescendingly. "Precautions, Danvers," he said with a hint of mockery in his voice. "You know, to protect myself from any alien bugs. I don’t want my immune system being invaded by foreign bodies."
She raised an eyebrow, feeling a sense of annoyance creep up within her. She was well aware of the potential risks of working in close proximity to sick aliens, but she had always trusted her strong immune system to keep her healthy. She prided herself on being cautious and responsible when it came to her work, but in this instance, she had overlooked the possibility of catching something.
"Well, that's your choice," Alex finally replied, her voice laced with a hint of annoyance. "But I'm not here to alienate anyone or treat them like threats. These beings are just seeking medical help, same as any human. And besides, I've been doing shifts here for months without any issues."
Shaking off her annoyance, Alex walked past him and made her way to the clinic's staff room to change into her uniform, the clinic preferred them to wear their own brand of gear, just as an extra precaution which was understandable.
As she made her way to one of the smaller lockers, she put down her bag and began changing. It was only then she noticed the slump attitudes of the attending staff. The ambiance of sniffles and coughing, like that of the reception, seemed to fill this room too and spotting one of the Doctors she was familiar with Alex decided to ask what was wrong.
"Morning," Alex greeted with a friendly smile. "Is everything alright? I couldn't help but notice that a lot of people seem to be under the weather today."
The doctor sighed tiredly and nodded, confirming Alex's observations. "Yes, unfortunately, it seems that there's a flu-like bug going around. We've been seeing an increase in patients with respiratory symptoms over the past couple of days. We're doing our best to provide care, but it's definitely keeping us busy."
Alex's concern grew as she processed the information. "Is it affecting the staff too? You don’t look too good yourself Doc.” While most of the staff were aliens themselves and did have a little bit more protective, there was still a good number of human employees.
Dr. Ramirez nodded again, a hint of weariness in their eyes. "Yeah, a few of our staff members have fallen ill as well. It's a bit of a challenge, this strain is appearing to be highly contagious, but we’ll get through it. We have some people on stand-by to cover if need be.”
Alex's eyes widened a little. The flu was bad news, especially in a clinic where a diverse range of alien species sought treatment. She couldn't help but wonder if Agent Wilson's decision to wear a mask was more justified than she had initially thought.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Alex asked, her determination to assist in any way she could shining through.
Dr. Ramirez's weary expression brightened a little at her offer. "Actually, there is something you could do," they replied gratefully. "Since we're short-staffed due to many doctors and nurses falling ill. If you could lend a hand with triaging patients and assisting in basic medical procedures, it would be a tremendous help."
Without hesitation, Alex nodded, her sense of duty and compassion driving her forward. "Of course, I'll do whatever I can. Just tell me what needs to be done."
For the remainder of the morning, she continued to help out where necessary, leaving security down to the other agent. It was definitely a lot faster paced but with her background in biochemistry she was well within her depth. By lunchtime it seems her efforts were paying off as the clinic seemed to slow down a little and she was given the go ahead to return back to her position.
As Alex made her way back to the security desk, she couldn't help but feel a wave of exhaustion wash over her. The adrenaline and determination that had fuelled her earlier were slowly waning, replaced by a growing fatigue. She attributed it to the increased workload and the emotional toll of seeing so many sick patients.
Agent Wilson looked up from his desk as Alex approached, his expression filled with surprise. "You're back already? I thought you'd be stuck over there forever, playing doctor."
Ignoring his snide remark, Alex mustered a weak smile. "It was a bit chaotic, but we managed to get things under control. The staff appreciated the help."
Wilson raised an eyebrow, a hint of grudging admiration in his voice. "Well, I guess you're not completely useless after all."
She huffed, shooting the agent a dirty look, “Look if you’ve got a problem with me, leave it at the door. Don’t bring that attitude into- wor- Hh'iishoo! Huh’tshoo!” She quickly bent to the side to catch her sneezes into cupped hands, sniffling at the feeling of subtle pressure rising in her sinuses.
“I don’t think that’s hygienic Danvers.” He shook his head, as the agent went to go grab some tissues from a nearby box.
She sighed, realising that Agent Wilson was somewhat right. Sneezing into her hands wasn't the best practice, especially considering the contagious nature of the flu-like bug going around. She quickly discarded the used tissues into a nearby bin and reached for a hand sanitiser bottle on the security desk, squeezing some onto her palms and rubbing them together.
"You're right, my bad," Alex admitted, her voice slightly muffled by her stuffed nose.
Agent Wilson's mocking wavered slightly as he observed Alex's tired appearance or maybe it was the fact that Alex Danvers actually apologised to him, "Wow, an apology from Danvers. You have a fever or something?”
“Just leave it.” Alex's voice was tinged with exhaustion and frustration. She didn't feel like entertaining Agent Wilson's sudden concern. The fatigue that had settled over her earlier was now accompanied by body aches and a growing headache. She had been so focused on helping at the clinic that she hadn't noticed her own symptoms creeping in.
As the day progressed, her energy waned, and she found herself struggling to focus. Her body felt heavy, and she was occasionally having to turn away to muffle raspy coughs into her elbow which only led to her throat becoming sore. But she tried to ignore it. She had blamed the AC at first, it was just turned up too high... yeah. That was it.
But with each passing hour, her condition deteriorated further. The fatigue intensified, making it difficult for her to stand upright. Her head throbbed with every movement, and the touch of a fever began to set in, leaving her feeling alternately hot and cold, as beads of sweat lined her brow all-while chills ran up her arms.
“Don’t you look healthy.” The male agent had commented snidely the next time Alex had learnt her head back against the wall.
Alex's patience was wearing thin, and she shot him a glare. "I'm not feeling well, okay? So can you please just lay off with the comments?" Her voice was tinged with irritation and exhaustion before giving in to the burning at the back of her throat as she gave a few chesty sounding coughs into her elbow.
Agent Wilson seemed taken aback by her response, his mocking demeanour fading momentarily. "Oh... I didn't realise you were actually not feeling good." he mumbled, his tone softening, “Sorry.”
Unbeknownst to her, a kind-hearted doctor, Dr. K'ora, had been in earshot and had noticed the agents declining condition. She approached her with a warm smile, "Excuse me, Agent Danvers, may I borrow you for a moment?”
Alex nodded, looking over her shoulder to confirm it was okay with Wilson and he waved her off. She felt a sudden tickle in her nose, a telltale sign that a sneeze was imminent. She quickly turned away, covering her face with her elbow, and let out a series of forceful sneezes. "Huh'kshhoo! Huh-choo! Huh'tshoo!" she sneezed, her body shaking with the force of each.
Dr. K'ora  gestured towards a nearby tissue box, concern evident in her eyes. "Goodness, bless you. I think it’d be a good idea to let me take a look at you, Agent Danvers. You don't look well at all." The doctor commented as she escorted the agent towards a small side room.
"Thank you," Alex said weakly, her voice hoarse and barely audible. "I didn't realise I was feeling this bad until now." She reached up to rub her temples, trying to alleviate the pounding headache that had settled in.
Dr. K'ora placed a gentle hand on Alex's shoulder, her touch comforting. "It's not uncommon for people to push through and ignore their own health when they're focused on helping others," she said kindly. "But it's important to take care of yourself too. Let me check your symptoms and see what's going on."
Alex nodded, grateful for the doctor's understanding. She sat back in the chair, allowing Dr. K'ora to examine her. The doctor felt her forehead, noting the warmth radiating from her skin, and listened to her lungs with a stethoscope. After a thorough examination, Dr. K'ora stepped back, a concerned expression on her face.
"I'm sorry to say, Agent Danvers, but it seems you've caught the flu that's been going around," Dr. K'ora explained gently. "Your symptoms—fatigue, headache, body aches, coughing, and sneezing—are all indicative of the flu. It's important that you take some time off and rest."
Alex's heart sank. She had hoped it was just a passing illness, but it seemed she was in for a rough few days. "I’m sorry, is this going to cause a problem with staffing? My shift isn’t due for end for a few hours yet.”
Dr. K'ora smiled kindly. "It happens to the best of us. I will inform your superiors and arrange for someone to pick you up. In the meantime, please make yourself comfortable here."
As the doctor left to inform the necessary personnel, Alex settled into the small room, grateful for the opportunity to rest. She curled up on the examination table, wrapping herself in a blanket provided by the clinic. The fatigue weighed heavily on her, and her body felt achy and weak.
Time passed slowly as she lay there, her mind wandering through a haze of fever and discomfort. She thought about Maggie and how she would react when she found out. She hoped her girlfriend wouldn't worry too much, knowing that she had a habit of being overprotective.
As if on cue, a soft knock on the door interrupted Alex's thoughts. She weakly called out, giving permission for the person to enter. To her relief, it was a familiar face—Maggie. Alex's heart skipped a beat at the sight of her girlfriend, a mix of worry and tenderness evident on her face.
“I heard you weren’t feeling well, poor thing.” She soothed, letting her hand come to rest over the warm forehead of the agent as she came to sit beside her.
Alex leaned into Maggie's touch, finding solace in her presence. "Hey," she whispered hoarsely, a weak smile gracing her lips. "I didn't expect you to come all the way here."
Maggie brushed a strand of hair away from Alex's forehead gently. "Of course I would come," she replied softly. "You're not feeling well, and I wanted to be here for you. How are you holding up?"
Alex let out a weak chuckle, followed by a cough. "I've been better," she admitted.
"You always put others first, Alex. It's time to let someone take care of you now." Maggie’s voice was filled with concern and affection as she offered her arms out to her girlfriend, pulling her into a warm hug.
In that moment, Alex realised how lucky she was to have Maggie by her side. She buried her face in Maggie's shoulder, feeling a mix of gratitude and vulnerability wash over her. Maggie's presence provided comfort and reassurance, reminding Alex that she didn't have to face this illness alone.
As they sat there, wrapped in each other's embrace, Alex's fatigue started to catch up with her. The weight of her eyelids became heavier, and her body begged for rest. Maggie sensed her exhaustion and gently guided Alex to lie down on the examination table, adjusting the blanket to keep her warm.
"Should we get you home, hm?" Maggie whispered, her voice filled with tenderness. "We can stop on the way and pick up some soup from that takeout you like, that might help you feel better. Whatever you need I’m sure we can get it.”
Alex nodded weakly, her eyes fluttering closed. "That sounds... nice, but what about your pizza?" she murmured, already feeling the pull of sleep tugging at her, “’Mm tired Maggs.”
“Pizza can wait, what you need is something easy right now. I know you’re tired baby, you can go to sleep in the car alright?”
“Thanks.”
Maggie sat by her side, gently stroking Alex's hair, a soft smile on her face. "Always, love. Now, let’s get you home.”

Bond of Steel
Pairing: Reader x Super friends, Alex Danvers x fem!reader (just some "more than friends" tension)
Summary: After Kara has a bad run-in with a super villain, it pulls you off of medical leave to go kick some villain butt, but you both end up learning a valuable lesson.
***************************************************************
"Well if we approach from..." you stood around the table with Alex, Wyn, and Jon talking strategy for how to take down the latest threat to national city, with you still recovering from an injury Kara is by herself.
"Alex?... Y/N?..." you heard a breathy and tired voice call out to you, you could hear the heavy shuffling of feet. Turning you were met with a very beaten and battered Kara, your stomach flipped as you looked her over, she was barely standing in front of you cape torn, suit covered in slashes and blood, dirt covering every inch of her.
"Someone get me a gurney over here... NOW!" you commanded, of course staff scurried at the sound of your voice. You trotted over to Kara, turning into a sprint and dive as she started to fall and you caught her, Alex was on your heels tears threatening to fill her eyes as she overlooked her sister, scratches, cuts, and bruises covered her features. You looked down at her torso pressing your hand over hers to hold pressure on the large gash covering her side, blood seeping through her fingers into your hand, you pulled her closer to your body. Two agents rushed over with a gurney and you picked her up placing her on it, she let out a small groan of pain turning towards Alex as you started to rush her to the med bay.
"Someone page Superman!" you called out before leaving the room, you saw all devices coming into hands as everyone jumped at your command.
"She won, she almost killed me..." she whimpered out, you heard her and you could feel your powers going dark, you could feel it flooding back to you, all the memories of when you were an assassin before they rescued you.
"Hold on Kara just hold on..." you whispered to her.
15 minutes later and she was hooked up to every monitor and had special sun lamps on her allowing her to heal, you stood in the hallway looking through the glass doors. Alex walked up next to you, "Is she going to be okay?"
"She's definitely a fighter, we got a transfusion from her cousin and that should help. I should've been there..." you turned to look into her eyes and she saw the green in your eyes deepen.
"Y/N you just got back from a bad injury, I thought I was going to lose you, and you're almost unbreakable... there was no way for us to know that was going to happen."
"I could've helped, pulled her out early, then she wouldn't be laying here like this." you turned back towards her, watching as her chest rise and fell, it killed you to know that one of the Danvers family was hurting like that.
"Y/N..." Alex said softly, stepping forward to wrap an arm around you, leaning her head into your shoulder.
"Here." you said opening your arms to her, she hugged you tears falling as she hid in your neck, you rubbed a hand on her back soothing her until she pulled away eyes red.
"Let me take you back."
"I don't wanna leave her, and I can't go home..."
"You're no good to her here, let me take you to my place." she looked into your eyes and slowly agreed. the car ride back was fairly quiet, even as you pulled up and went into the house, she went right into your bedroom, you put your jackets away and threw your keys into the bowl on your kitchen island grabbing a bottle of water and making your way upstairs. You found a very tired Alex passed out in your bed, lights still on, she had found pajama pants and one of your old college hoodies in your closet and fallen asleep in them. Little did you know that your scent and the warmth was comforting for her, she felt safe, protected. you crawled in next to her after turning the lights out and felt as she gradually moved closer to you.
In the morning you were up before her and down in your kitchen making coffee, she rounded the corner, hair disheveled and plopped herself at your breakfast bar. there wasn't much talking before you changed, grabbing her a change of clothes, it wasn't the first time she had stayed so you made sure to keep so DEO basic uniform items at your place for emergencies.
When you got to work her first instinct was to be by her sisters side after hearing that she was awake and asking for her, Jon took you aside to give you updates, by the time Alex returned she found that you were suited up and in the field.
"Y-Y/N you idiot get back here..." Alex said over your intercoms.
"Alex, stay out of it."
"No Y/N don't do this she almost killed Kara."
"and that was her one chance she won't get another." you said before gently landing on the top of the building. You saw the other woman across the roof from you her royal purple suit a stark contrast to the grey industrial buildings surrounding you, "Eclipse."
"Ahh there she is Apex the infamous hero that fights side by side with Supergirl, do tell is she still breathing?" She said looking over your form, "she's fine" you growled
"Protective... I'm really gonna hate to do this then." you watched her, pace in front of you, your facial expression serious and unchanging, "you know you're too pretty to die, but doesn't mean I can't damage the great and mighty hero."
"I would like to see you try..."
"Try... darling I keep my word."
"That's what the last one said." you smirked seeing the flame light behind her eyes, "Ugh I hate arrogant heroes, but I can fix that..." she said rushing towards you, you let her hit you at the waist and pushed you off the building, you free fell, you quickly flipped and landed on your feet as she tumbled on the ground next to you, you walked over picking her up, but she landed a punch, causing you to stumble back, that when the fist fight started, punch for punch, catching them but the occasional catching you off guard. You both landed punches threw things, ran up sides of buildings, causing mass destruction, after one particular dodge you pivoted back, hearing the screeching of brakes as cars tried to stop, landing one last hard hit you knocked her back, speeding over to stop a large black SUV that wasn't going to stop in time, you ran around helping out a young expectant mother and walking her out of the way.
"Here, stay here you'll be safe."
"Thank yo-watch out." Before you could turn around to react, you turned enough and suddenly she had her hand around your neck picking you up and flying towards a tall glass building she dropped you sending you sliding through the glass and into the offices.
"Ugh..." you tried moving feeling pain start to set in. Before you could move she came flying back through the building picking you up and flying you through more walls, making back into open sky she started dropping throwing you right through a solid status in the city center, you laid there the dust settling around you, feeling the cuts and bruises on your body, she stood over top you in the broken rubble.
"See I told you, I break heroes like you." she laughed before turning around to walk away, instead of accepting defeat you stood.
"who said you broke me?" you shot back in a whisper, she whipped around seeing you standing there dust still celaring.
"whatever doesn't kill you, eventually will...isn't that how that quote goes." she said teasing you.
"Whatever doesn't kill me better run, cause now I'm pissed." you said flying like a bullet towards her, landing hit after hit not giving her time to react, that was until she laid motionless before you, she was still breathing but you stood up walking over to the DEO team and laying her down, you quickly flew off. You landed on the verge of the DEO compound, stumbling through as the glass closed behind you, Alex rushed to your side as you collapsed.
Next time you opened your eyes, you were met by dimmed hospital lights, you stood and looked around, pulling out your IV and getting dressed. a nurse walked in quickly dropping the ipad she was holding before running back out of the room, moments later you heard rushed footsteps as Alex rushed into the room, "Y/N!" she said wrapping her arms around your neck.
"Hey," you said softly.
"I thought I lost you..."
"you can-..." before you could finish she pulled you into a kiss, at first surprising you but then you leaned into it.
"Alex?" you said sort of confused.
"I'm sorry, just don't ever do that to me again, you might be an idiot and think you're invincible but that just makes you my idiot and I can't lose you." she said not sure about making eye contact.
"Don't apologize, it's about time... sleeping at my house, your own drawer I mean come on, I'm not going anywhere." you said with a chuckle.
“shut up” she said tears filling her eyes, she jabbed softly at your side knowing you still felt some pain.
“hey..” you protested, leaning down to nip softly at her neck.
“hey whoa…” you heard Kara’s voice filling the room, “my sister and best friend, no… no ma’am please…”
“hey Kara.” Alex said laughing, before moving aside so she could hug you.
“hey.” You whispered as she squeezed you tight.
“You’re an idiot.”
“Me? For what?!”
“for going alone…”
“nothing i haven’t told her.” Said Alex.
“yea well u think there was a little more heat when you did it…” Kara poked, “you didn’t have to, you could’ve waited.”
“waited for her to come after you again, no chance in hell… I would give my life for this family, no way anyone will ever break that bond and it’s gonna take a lot more than that to kill me… just next time know that no matter what we fight together.”
“Bond of Steel, unbroken.” She said before hugging you again, “now I wanna know what I interrupted earlier and if it’s gonna result in a wedding and maybe some nieces and nephews?”
“oh God Kara…” Alex started blushing hard.
“haha how about in time…” you said laughing as you corralled them out of the room, “all in time.” You smiled down at Alex who was tucked under your strong arm.

Lena has her theories. Like a good scientist, she devises “scientific” experiments to collect data…it’s just convenient this is more exhilarating than outright asking the question to the appropriate person: is Kara Danvers a boob or an ass girl?
Let it be known, this popped into my mind because of your reblog of Supergirl daydreaming about Lena in the throes of passion (likely by Kara’s own doing 😉💋)
okay first, we have to admit that the creator of that post blessed us all. second, this was hilarious to write. I had so much fun. here you go:
It's for Science (Supercorp)
by marinawolf
Tumblr media
Lena Luthor, the scientific genius and CEO of L-Corp and Catco, found herself embroiled in a daring experiment. The subject? Her best friend and secret crush, Kara Danvers. Lena was determined to discover one crucial piece of information: was Kara a boob or an ass girl?
Of course, Lena couldn't just outright ask Kara about her preferences. No, that would be far too direct and potentially awkward. Instead, she decided to employ her scientific mind to devise a series of "experiments" to collect data and draw her conclusions.
It all started innocently enough. Lena strategically chose her outfits, opting for outfits that accentuated her assets. She made sure to occasionally drop something in front of Kara, bending down slowly to retrieve the item. Lena even went so far as to discreetly unbutton the top of her shirt, providing a subtle glimpse of cleavage whenever she was around Kara. For science, of course.
But Kara, being Kara, was oblivious to Lena's attempts. Lena had, however, garnered the attention of many others in her office, who were captivated by her attempts, much to her dismay. However, Lena was determined to provoke a reaction from her friend, and she wasn't about to give up.
One day, during a lunch break at CatCo, Lena brought in an array of donuts. She strategically placed a tray of donuts right in front of Kara, leaning over Kara's desk, giving her a full view down her unbuttoned shirt. Lena's heart raced as she watched Kara's eyes widen with delight at the sight of the delicious treats.
Lena waited with bated breath, hoping for a telling reaction.
To Lena's dismay, Kara simply reached for a chocolate-covered donut without a second thought. Lena tried to hide her disappointment.
Later, at the DEO, after Lena had "dropped" her pen in front of Kara, Alex sidled up to her, sipping a coffee.
"Why are you bending down like a stripper in front of my sister? That's like the third time tonight."
Lena flushed her mind suddenly unable to formulate an explanation.
"Don't worry," Alex continued, laughing, "She notices. The first time, she actually walked into a glass wall. Luckily it was reinforced, so it didn't shatter"
Lena's heart leapt but still, she wasn't convinced. She hadn't seen Kara react at all, and as a scientist, she needed to see her results first hand to believe it.
But she refused to give up. She couldn't let a few failed experiments deter her from her quest for knowledge. It was for science, and she was committed to science.
It was during a cozy movie night at Lena's penthouse that she decided to execute her most daring experiment yet. As they settled onto the couch, Lena discreetly unbuttoned her shirt, exposing a tantalizing hint of cleavage. She observed Kara out of the corner of her eye, trying to gauge her reaction without being too obvious.
To her delight, Lena noticed Kara stealing glances her way throughout the movie. The sight of Kara's eyes lingering on her filled Lena's heart with a mixture of excitement and nervous anticipation. Perhaps her experiment was indeed yielding results.
As the movie progressed, Lena's heart raced, waiting for the perfect opportunity to reveal itself. She couldn't concentrate on the film, her mind consumed by the thrilling prospect of finally getting an answer to her burning question.
Just when Lena thought she couldn't wait any longer, Kara's hand brushed against hers in the darkness of the room. The touch sent a jolt of electricity through Lena's veins, and she turned to look at Kara, their eyes locking in an intense gaze.
Without a moment's hesitation, Kara leaned in and pressed her lips against Lena's, kissing her with a desperate longing that took Lena by surprise. The intensity of the moment left them breathless as they finally broke apart, their foreheads resting against each other.
"I've been dying to do that all week," Kara admitted, her voice filled with a mix of desire and relief.
Lena's heart fluttered, her experiment having unexpectedly led her to this extraordinary outcome.
But still, she didn't know: Was Kara a boob or an ass girl?
--
Months later, as Lena lay in bed, her arms wrapped around a sleepy Kara, she finally asked the question.
And Kara's response made her heart flutter.
"I'm a you girl."

How About, No
Alex dragges Lena to Urgent Care, which goes as well as expected.
Word Count: 1435
-----
A half hour of intense negotiation later and Lena was too tired to continue to fight. She was tired, and felt gross. All she really wanted was Kara. She wanted her stupid girlfriend to come and stupid hug her. She was at the point of her illness that she was ready to give up on pretending to be okay and just curl herself up in Alex’s arms. She was nearly 97% sure that the other woman would hold her.
“Okay. The drive to Urgent Care is only five minutes, are you going to be okay in a car for that long, kiddo?” Lena shrugged, not really wanting to answer that question. She was in no way “okay”. There was nothing okay about how she felt. Her brain was melting, her throat hurt, and she wanted a hug. She really, really wanted a hug.
“Hey, Leenaaa, can you hear me?” Alex asked, earning a nod from the young witch. She knelt beside her, and placed a hand on her burning cheek. The poor thing felt like an oven.
“I’m sorry you don’t feel well sweetheart. I know you don’t want to go, but the doctor is going to give us some antibiotics and you’ll feel better soon. Once we get home, I’ll make some tea and we can watch Titanic. Does that sound okay?”
A single tear traced its way down Lena’s jaw line, dripping harmlessly onto her shirt. She didn’t respond, which only made Alex more nervous. Her basically little sister always had an opinion, and was never one to keep quiet about it.
“Oh, love,” Alex leaned forward a bit, and wrapped the sick girl in her arms. Lena resisted the touch for only a second, before melting into Alex’s comforting embrace. She finally got her hug.
A small sob escaped Lena’s lips and she tried to curl up further against Alex. She couldn’t do it anymore. The fever felt like it was boiling her brain, which was oozing her stupid emotions all over the place.
“Oh, love.” She said again, smoothing back sweaty hair and rocking the brunette the way she would if Esme started to cry. After Kara came to live with her family, Alex had figured out that rocking generally calmed everybody down. For some reason, it just worked. Lena was no exception to Alex’s golden rule.
“I-I’m s’ry,” She sobbed, still holding on to the former agent for dear life. Alex rubbed her back and pressed her lips against Lena’s scalding temple.
“Shh, it's okay. We’re gonna stay here until you’re ready, okay? We’re not going to leave until you’re ready, and I swear, I am not going anywhere.” She promised, resting her chin on Lena’s head. The pair sat this way for nearly fifteen minutes, before Lena’s breathing had evened out, and she was ready to re-enter the normal, much less comfortable, world.
“Ready to do this?” Alex asked, pushing a strand of hair out of her eyes. Her shirt was wet with Lena’s tears, but she really didn’t care. All that mattered to her was that her charge was okay.
“I guess…” She mumbled, her voice wavering slightly with her anxiety. Maybe her fear was stupid. Maybe she shouldn’t be terrified of the doctors in white coats and the terrible antiseptic smell. Maybe the pristine cleanliness that disguised death and disease shouldn’t frighten her. But it did. It probably always would. Phobias were like that, especially when linked to the inevitable PTSD that came with being a Luthor.
– The waiting room was the worst part. There were people vomiting into bags, sneezing into the open air and coughing loudly enough to make Lena jump. It wasn’t well known, but Lena was a germaphobe. She hated sick people, but generally put up with them. Whenever she had to have a meeting with someone who had even the smallest case of the sniffles, she would drown herself in hand sanitizer after the person left. Despite her deep seeded terror, she was mostly able to hide the phobia. She could usually control it, but her head was spinning, her fever was increasing her nerves, and she really didn’t want to be at the doctors.
“Deep breath kid.” Alex said, pulling the ill woman out of her thoughts. She did as instructed and pulled a big breath of air into her lungs. Her lungs did not like that. A wet, painful cough racked her body, bringing up a small glob of phlegm which was quickly spit into a hastily grabbed tissue. It was gross.
“I don't want to be here.” She grumbled, unable to take her eyes off a man who was coughing blood into a cloth. He should probably be in a more hospital-ish place, rather than Urgent Care. It was useful when you had some sort of small problem, but blood coming out of your lungs seemed pretty bad.
“I know. We should be up next. Stop staring at him. Focus on me instead. You know, Kara said she might get you a kitten for your birthday.” She said, earning a little smile from the brunette. Lena loved cats, but she knew that her girlfriend was more of a dog person. Kara, of course, loved all animals, but it wasn’t quite the same for her affection towards dogs.
“She wants a dog.”
“Yes, but you want a cat. She loves you more than anything you know. She’d do anything for you.” Lena smiled again, and leaned over to rest her head on Alex’s shoulder. She was too tired to hold her head up on her own. The older woman made a small sad sound, and wrapped her arm around Lena’s shoulders, rubbing her upper arm gently.
Lena must have fallen asleep, because when she opened her eyes again an unfamiliar man with a clipboard was standing over her. She jumped a little, startled by the stranger, but Alex’s reassuring hand on hers was quick to calm her down again.
“C’mon honey.” She called, helping the brunette stand. She helped the ill woman into the small exam room, where the man -who turned out to be a nurse- took her weight, height, and general vitals. He promised that a doctor would be in with them soon, and left after having barely spoken to them. Lena was happy that she didn’t actually have to have very much human interaction. On the other hand, she was also frustrated that the nurse hadn’t told her what he was doing before he started touching her. She nearly punched him when he grabbed her arm to put the blood-pressure cuff on.
“Almost done sweetheart.” Alex pressed a kiss against her temple, trying not to wince at the heat that radiated off of Lena’s skin. The poor girl was shivering aggressively, and trying to curl up in on herself to get a little warmer. Clearly, the tactic was not working. It was, however, slightly adorable. As much as Lena was clearly suffering, she was cute when she was sick. Something about the innocence brought on by her brain melting fever. Her walls had come crumbling down, and she was forced to accept help.
“I want to leave.” She practically growled, trying to sound more in control than she really was. Alex just pulled her close and rubbed her back in an attempt to soothe her.
“The doctor will be here soon, love. Just try to relax. When we get home, we can try to call Kara, okay?” She murmured, pressing a small kiss against the woman’s sweaty forehead. Lena just sniffled in response, and laid her head on Alex’s forehead. If she were strong enough, she would have left long ago. Of course, if she were strong enough she wouldn’t need to be there.
About fifteen agonizing minutes later a small woman with short red hair walked in holding a chart. She smiled gently at the women sitting on the bed and started asking questions that Lena had already answered. The brunette was getting too tired to talk, so Alex translated the mumbled responses, often before Lena had said anything.
After the brief conversation, another exam that involved the doctor -who's name turned out to be Maria- having to poke Lena's lymph nodes (which hurt) shoving a swab into the back of her burning throat (which also hurt) and having to get a blood draw (which almost didn’t work because of how much the woman was squirming) they were sent on their way with a diagnosis of strep mixed with a nasty case of the flu, and a prescription for penicillin. This week just kept getting longer.

Supergirl: Kara’s nightmare
Tumblr media
Her eyes open. Her head whips around fearfully as a pair of arms wrap around her shoulders. “Kara, it’s okay! You’re awake now.”
“Y/N?” The way she says your name with such anguish causes you to pull her closer. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to.”
“Shh, you’re okay, everything’s okay,” you soothe. “It was just a dream. It’s over.”
With a series of sobs your older sister tightens her hold on you. Kara places her hand on your chest so she can feel your heart beat. It’s still there, plain as day.
“Is it really you?” Kara gasps.
“It’s me Kara. I’m right here.”
Kara continues to sob still not able to form coherent sentences, only able to say the occasional ‘I’m sorry.’ She makes sure she’s extremely close to you, so she can feel your warmth, your life energy.
“Shh,” you coo as you run her back. “I’ve got you Kara.”
It felt so real, Kara thinks. The terrified look on your face, the feeling of her crushing your larynx under her hand, and then throwing your lifeless body under the control of red kryptonite.
You almost died that day. By some miracle and Alex getting to you on time your saving grace. She’s not sure how you were able to so easily forgive and trust her, but she was so thankful you did, yet felt so undeserving at the same time.
“Let it out, Kara.”
So she does. she lets her tears flow freely, while you held her. Her face hurt, her stomach hurt, it’s been weeks since the incident, but her heart still hurts. She barely registers you kissing the top of her head.
After a while Kara lifts her damp face from your soaked shirt. Tears have made tracks down her face and clung to her eyelashes. Her eyes are bloodshot and her nose is running
You give a smile, then reach over to your nightstand for some tissues. You wipe your sisters face, under her eyes before handing her another tissue and telling Kara to blow. She does, without second thought, Kara tosses both tissues in the trash can. You continue to hold your trembling sister, and kiss her red cheeks.
“I’ve got you,” you repeatedly whisper.
“I’m sorry, you should change your shirt so your not uncomfortable.”
“In a minute,” you promise. “Please don’t be sorry Kara, I’m glad I could be here.”
Kara sits up and rubs her eyes. You gently press your forehead against Kara’s, taking both her hands. It’s amazing how easily she trusts them after the damage they had done to you.
“I can’t take your nightmares away, but I’ll be her when you wake up. I promise”
Kara finally manages a soft smile. “Thanks baby girl, I’ll be here for you too.”
Y/N excuses herself to quickly change into a dry shirt, than settles back besides Kara.
Your both than able to fall back into a restful dreamless sleep.

I have a new fic out! Good Vibrations
This one is a lot spicier than what I normally write. I needed to blow of some steam between heavy chapters of Nothing to Fear and I had a silly idea that started with the image of a sleepy Kara purring in Lena's lap, and it went from there.
An update on Nothing to Fear is coming soon; I'm writing out the bulk of the rest of the story right now and I'll need to move things around and edit a lot to make sure it's all wrapped up nicely. I want to make sure it flows right and tells the story I want to tell, which takes a little work because it started as a one shot and I didn't have a clear plan when I expanded it, other than putting Lena and Kara through hell, lol.
