I know you’re not working on any askblog things but will the sparklecare askblog ever return?

i've thought about this a lot, semi-recently. sorry for long post, i had a lot to say

see, the issue with asksparklecare is the fact it's supposed to "go along with canon events" and a lot of the time, the arcs will just abruptly end or change with no real connection between them. haunted was sort of my first attempt at putting a "story" on there, then again with the kissmas comic from 2021.

when i started cometcare for example, i wanted to take the generic "ask blog" format and turn it into a coherent, cohesive connecting story that just had interactive elements to make it engaging with readers as opposed to just making people ask the characters questions aimlessly. the main ask blog never really had that entirely, it was just sort of the classic 2010s-style ask blog, this is apparent in basically every arc on there.

it's stumped me quite a bit because now that i have this very different style of ask blog storytelling, the original ask blog feels weird to go back to and i don't feel the same passion or connection with it that i once did. it's a little bit frustrating. i tried to do an arc about the side patients but as you guys saw, i never even did it because i felt so out of touch with that old format of ask blog posts and i couldn't bring myself to work on it at all.

cometcare and darkermatters both have Stories to them, and each arc has a plot that is moved on by readers- even if i already have it written out, there are little things people can influence through the asks and it's a good way for introducing new characters or expanding on characters who we've already met. several times cometcare will return to specific characters to relay information or new details or exposition or something that their initial introduction didn't have.

it's a much more fun process for me to write actual stories in my AU blogs, instead of just....making the characters talk. and another thing- going alongside the main comic has problems, because sometimes there's information i can only reveal in the comic itself, and it's hard to keep up with it in general.

i enjoyed doing the kissmas comic because i got to do a "story" even if it wasn't interactive. i had fun repeating the concept on cometcare last december with help of the crew.

i'm sort of at a loss of what to do with the main ask blog at this point. as much as i miss doing stuff like that for main comic, i just don't find it FUN to do it that way anymore, i've become too attached to the storytelling aspects of my other ask blogs and it just doesn't feel the same exciting experience of watching people react to events and such.

if anyone has suggestions about what i should do with the main ask blog to solve this problem i'm open to hearing them, it would be nice to have some ideas because i'm really not sure what i want to do with it.

there was a time i had the idea of doing a backstory ask blog as an alternate main canon interactive story that followed similar mechanics as cometcare and darkermatters, but idk if everyone would be interested in that. that would probably be a separate thing if i ever did it.

thoughts, opinions, suggestions and ideas are all welcome in the replies or my inbox, i would love to have your guys' input since im making content you all would be engaging with after all

jack/solar flare - two ai's who know nothing about the world, only built to protect one person, then freed from their chains to explore together? its perfect

solar/eclipse - i feel like they would pretend to hate each other in public but we all know that they make out when the doors r closed/silly

solar/eclipse/sun - is this bc of an au i made where i made their relationships into a polycule? yes. am i gonna enjoy it with any au possible? also yes.

solar/sun - just... so much potential here. they barely ever interacted in canon! i literally shipped them before sun/eclipse bc its just. ITD BE SO FLUFFY. ALSO REALLY PAINFUL BC TRAUMA AND SHIT BUT ITD BE SO SOFT

eclipse/solar/ruin (aka eclipse trio) - idk man itd either be fluffy and silly or itd just be them destroying the world while holding hands. u get to choose

i also choose to make quite a few of these into qprs bc my aro brain cant keep my grubby hands off these gays and make them all aspec in some way

that might be all of them? im not sure honestly- i just enjoy exploring characters relationships with each other in multiple contexts (familial, platonic, qp, romantic, etc.) cuz its just too much fun

Before performing he always has to do that 'looking in the mirror and reassuring yourself'

While signing autographs (a very rare occurrence) he tries to block out his side view with his hoodie so he isn't able to see others looking at him

That's the same reason he dances with his hoodie up

During times where there's way too many people he might lower down his cap too

His shoelaces aren't real shoelaces. It's those slip in type shoes LOL

He's also basically well trained in almost every dance style

He's often seen either performing alongside others (playing the keytar/dancing/singing), or being a backup dancer

It's very hard to catch him performing a solo

Initially he was actually pretty confident, never showing signs of embarrassment, never really easily flustered. (which is why he became an idol in the first place) But after something happened, it lead to his personality now

Backstage, he's actually pretty sociable when there's a small crowd of people

Outside of performing, he actually really enjoys going to karaokes and playing dance dance revolution

I got the idea for this when I accidentally stumbled across this song while searching for a different one.

This is a cute moment where Starline realizes the respect he’s held for Rivet runs much deeper than he thought, and he may actually see her as more than just a teammate.

During their time and interactions together throughout the completion, while they do clash a bit at first, as the story progresses and Starline begins to loosen up, they’re seen working well together and certainly have some chemistry. But neither seem to be publicly interested in pursuing a relationship with the other. Which leads to a running joke where no one can tell if they’re together or not.

This particular outing changes their dynamic a bit though. Up to this point, Rivet’s been no stranger to being the one to drag Starline out of the lab and encourage him to do things outside of his comfort zone. And despite his annoyance or reluctance, over time, she’s become the only one he allows to get away with it.

They both end up researching together for the team project in this library in a nearby town. A song Rivet loves happens to start playing on the radio. So naturally, she starts to dance, inviting Starline to join her. He refuses at first, but after watching her have fun for a little bit, he rolls his eyes when she beckons again, and lets her pull him out of his seat with a smile.

The two end up waltzing and twirling around the room, getting more and more into the moment and laughing as they get lost in the song. But it all comes to a sudden head when Starline spins and dips her bridal style.

The whole world shows to a stop, and they both slowly realize just how close they are. The weight of this position, how romantic it is for him to be holding her like this…

And just how beautiful the other person’s eyes look in the glowing light of the fireplace.

It’s the moment where he suddenly realizes, he’s grown quite attached to this cat…

And it’s a terrifying, beautiful, and confusing moment for him.

Rivet can sense his panic, and she doesn’t want to push him into something he’s not comfortable with. So they end the dance, and Rivet soothes over his frazzled nerves before they get back to what they were doing.

Sadly, neither of them get much more research done that day.

anyway, i think my hot take regarding the whole canon vs fanon thing for the dpxdc fandom is that fanon is fine but it also gets boring. there's a reason why 90% of the dpxdc creative content feels exactly the same. i'm not trying to like,, shit on anyone's work, but so many of these fics are very, very similar in plot and dynamics. and that's a product of the fact that most of the fandom doesn't actually know anything about dc.

if you're relying solely on fandom osmosis to learn about the characters and events, then you end up missing out on a lot. it's not Bad, but it's basically the footnotes. the sparknotes. the starred review compared to the actual book. you aren't getting a lot, is what i'm saying. and that's why so much of the content feels exactly the same! it's because everyone is getting their info from the same decade old jokes. so creative work ends up blending into each other because the creators don't actually have anything else to work with (because they don't Know anything else) so they rely on the same five fanon jokes and headcanons that they do know.

as a dc fan, i Do encourage dpxdc fans to look into dc and read the comics and be more active on the dc side of things, not because fanon is inherently Bad, but because it opens up so many more avenues for creativity. i'd love to see people talk about danny fighting evil vampire nightwing or going on missions with karen or having fun with kara. but most dp fans don't even know characters outside of the most popular 10 and know even less about any of the plots or universes. so like, it's not exactly a surprise that every fic sounds the same. and like. does that not get boring to you guys?

Harrymort AU Memory loss

Voldemort spent years looking for Harry Potter.

After the war was over and he won, crushing everyone in his way that didn't bow to his power and their Lord, he still didn't manage to find his sworn enemy. Since the boy end of fifth year, when say boy presented as a omega and he had scented his fresh smell of unbonded and pure virgin smell of omega, nothing could take it away from his head that maybe he could take advantage of that. Maybe sway him to his side or maybe just kill him after taking everything from him, which he could or not include making the omega give him a heir.

But Potter disappeared.

After Dumbledore's death, he expect something from him. A call for revenge, foolish attempts on his life, anything. But he just disappear and Voldemort could say he was a bit disappointed. And even after his victory, he still didn't showed his face and he became restless and decided to search for his Chosen One that decided to hide from him, just when things were starting to getting fun.

And then five years later, he found him.

Not a boy anymore, but a young adult. Still unbonded, still with the same fresh smell announcing how he was still untouched. He had grow in his looks and worked as a nurse.

He followed him, almost giddy. He couldn't believe that he was just there, like there was no one looking for him. No one had found him before Voldemort himself and when finds him he is oblivious to the danger clinging to him.

He was observing him, when he suddenly looked up and he was face to face to him. And then he smiled, friendly, with no a single sign of recognition.

Well that's just turned things even more interesting.

-sasha is the archivist now, tim and martin are still archival assistants

-no encounter with the spiral-> no one is replaced by the not-them. smth happens with the web instead (sasha's first mark alongside prentiss+the corruption) and is "resolved" by jon

-jon is antagonistic throughout the first 2 seasons and plays a role similarly to helen (friendly but should not be trusted. hes manipulating them all to do what he wants). he is not in cahoots with jonah (he quite dislikes the man, thinks he takes too much pleasure in ruining the lives of others. at least jon is a mostly neutral party) and does not help in getting sasha marked by the other fears. his involvement with introducing them all to the web is to establish more power for his fear in the archives

-in the third season, however, jon starts to turn his attitude around, esp after leitner's death. he uses his power of manipulation to keep sasha in hiding + help with the investigation. he does not stop puppeting them all in the background, but uses it more to keep them all safe, and less for his own gain

-specifically helps with preventing the unknowing, partially bc he doesnt want the spiral to take over and partitally bc he cares about his friends

-sasha goes through it like canon jon, has a similar relationship to tim as jon did to martin

-jon and martin are still involved, however their relationship prior to s3 is kind of manufactured. jon does and says exactly what they all want to hear to get in their good graces, and it works especially well on martin. s3 onwards features them getting to actually know each other as jon loosens up on messing with their personal lives and focuses on protecting the archives

-daisy and basira are unchanged, however daisy takes a dislike to jon as well as sasha (bloodlust in sasha's case and disgust in jon's. idk if she would want to kill jon too bc his fear manifests much more subtly than sasha's, but i think she would hate him more. maybe that would be reason enough at this point ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯) and basira is more willing to work with jon than she is of sasha. at this point, she is effectively being used by daisy and i dont think she would be able to notice the same behavior in jon

-melanie is unchanged, she still hates being there and gets marked by the slaughter

-tim hates jon even more than in canon-> thinks hes a little creep almost from the beginning and doesnt trust a word he says. finds him much too similar to the spiral and the distortion, 2 fears he has a particular hatred of

-the unknowing team is now comprised of: tim, sasha, melanie, basira and at home are: daisy, jon, and martin. jon weasles his way out of going bc he doesn't like to get directly involved in situations. staying home is much more appealing to him. also, he wants to fuck with elias just as much as martin does. daisy stays (despite wanting to go with basira) bc she wants to kill jon

-martin's confession is left out of this version bc jon is there. however, elias does get martin to stop- not with his insecurity regarding his mother, but with his insecurity regarding jon. he successfully plants a seed of doubt in martin about jon's true intentions, when he brings attention to all of his actions throughout the show (some of which, martin has witnessed and tried to ignore bc he didn't want to face them)

-sasha still goes into a coma, tim still dies (not without apologising to sasha, even if she never hears it bc the unknowing is happening), melanie gets thrown into the buried, basira returns home, daisy is stuggling with the hunt (much like melanie and the slaughter) martin retreats into the lonely, now convinced that all of his friends are dead and the rest cannot be trusted. they successfully get elias arrested and peter lukas takes over running the institute

-jon absolutely despises peter lukas bc of his isolation approach to running the institute; if everyone is seperated, there are no connections to manipulate. bc the web is manifested so strongly throughout the archives, he still has some control, but the ppl he genuinely had relationships with are gone and its much harder to handle

-daisy fights off the flesh, but it leaves her lost to the hunt (how to resolve? maybe she learns to keep it hidden from everyone until she snaps when those monster hunters come at the end of s4. maybe basira helps her through it. melanie still gets to heal, after they take out the bullet and get her out of the archives)

-when sasha comes back, jon clings to the last remaining thread in his web of the archives, becoming her new anchor after tim's death. when she goes into the coffin, he is the one who places all of the recorders on top it and wills her back home, melanie in tow

-at this point, jon has given up any malicious intent he had, as hes seen elias's plan unfurl and works to prevent it (like annabel cane, he knows smth is up). he wants to counter-manipulate everyone into not allowing the apocalypse to happen, basically

-which means he needs to get martin out of the lonely asap. martin joins peter now, not bc he does believe in the extinction, but bc there is nothing else for him in his life and he needs a way to detatch himself from jon, who he thinks has been lying to them all the whole time (finds out hes an avatar of the web some time during sasha's coma). jon manages to convince him their relationship is not entirely built on lies with sasha's help and prevents lukas from taking martin into the tunnels + to the panopticon. they leave just as the hunters arrive

-sasha still escapes into the tunnels (she Knows lukas is down there and potentially elias?) + eviserates peter lukas <3 finds elias

-daisy goes hunter mode and kills julia montauk, basira escapes into the tunnels, daisy hot on her heels after also killing trevor. she meets up with sasha and elias

-like in s5 w georgie + melanie, basira has been finding ways to get rid of the archives altogether, eventually stumbling upon whatever gas thing allows them to blow that shit up in the last episode. in her rage about daisy's decline (as well as her promise to daisy) and everything shes had to do for elias in the past season, she successfully blows up the building, trapping herself, elias, jonah (body), and daisy inside. idk whether sasha should bite the dust or not...... maybe it wouldn't be satisfying, but i think the nature of her character is to not survive and leave you mourning her lol
