Surprise, Surprise
A/N- Please keep in mind, this is my first time writing a Reader Insert. So, I'm sorry in advance if this isn't that good.
Loki x Fem!Reader
F/F= Favorite Food
Imagine on the elevator, Thor talks to Loki about a girl he met while on Midgard, having no idea that girl happened to be Loki girlfriend of 6 years, you.
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry, my lady." Thor's voice booms throughout the kitchen after having bumped into you after turning away from the fridge. You smiled softly and nodded your head in thanks. "It's no problem Thor." you said. "Would you like to have lunch with me, my lady? Everyone seems to be out of the Compound at the moment." Thor asks in a surprisingly soft voice. "Why the hell not? My name is Y/N L/N, by the way." You smiled widely. "It is nice to meet you, lady Y/N. What would you like to eat?" Thor grins, gesturing to open-planned kitchen in the Avengers Compound. "I'll just take a plate of F/F from the fridge, Thor. Thank you." You spoke before sitting at the dinning room table, as Thor plated both you and him some F/F. After heating both plates up, Thor flopped into the chair next to the one you were sitting in, after putting both plates on the table. You and Thor got to know one another as you both ate. Loki had told you about Thor and stories about when they were little, but you didn't think Thor would have such Golden Retriever energy based off of what Loki had said. You guys eventually went separate ways as Thor said he was off to the gym. You bid goodbyes as you went back to Loki's room. As you arrived at Loki's room, you could see him walking down the hall towards the Elevator. "I'm going to get a new book, my Queen." Loki spoke softly but loud enough for you to hear, without turning around, as if sensing your confusion. "Ok, I'll be in your bedroom, my King." You spoke before heading into Loki's room and closing the door.
Loki got to the elevator the same time as Thor, and coincidentally the Library and gym are one floor apart. Going the same way, down. Thor held the elevator doors open for his brother which had Loki nodding his thanks. "I met such a wonderful maiden today, brother." Thor announced as the elevator doors closed. Loki raised an eyebrow in question, which Thor noticed. "Why yes, she was the upmost kind and sweet woman I've ever met. I think you would love her. She has a mischievous side but also has a kind and caring nurture to her. I think you and her would get along great after some of the pranks she told me she's pulled on her older brother." Thor explained with a bright smile. "Who is this, you speak of Thor?" Loki questioned with genuine curiosity. "Her name was Y/N L/N. She was brilliant, she was." Thor spoke, with wild gestures of his hands, before smiling at his brother. "I think you and her would get along great." He added quickly, noticing Loki's amusement to the situation. Loki nodded with a mischievous sparkle to his eyes. "I'll keep that in mind, brother. Thank you." He spoke with a hint of a smile pulling at his lips. "No problem, brother." Thor grinned while giving Loki a pat on the back.
As Thor and Loki went their separate ways once arriving to the destined floor, Loki smiled to himself, a genuine smile, just thinking about you and thinking he's ready to tell the team about you. He knows you're the one for him. You complete him. You make him feel things he's never felt before. You are the love of his life. He doesn't know what he would do without you. You make him a better person. Loki is happy for the first time in what feels like forever because of you. He is beyond grateful he met you. He would go to the end of the Nine Realms for you. He would kill for you. He would do anything you asked of him. You have him wrapped around your finger like there is no tomorrow.

“Are you sure that’s how you should be sending those?”. His nosy ass telling you how to do your job in your midgardian electronics was just amazing, truly. “It would be faster for them if you send it with that link instead of…”.
“Listen, Mischief”, you interrupted his unnecessary corrections “I don’t tell you how to levitate, what about you don’t tell me how to do this?”.
“I don’t levitate”.
“Not the point. This is my deal. Besides, since when and how do you know how to handle midgardian tech?”.
“I… I’m bored”.
“Do I look like an entertainment to you right now?”.
“What do you mean right now? Are you planning on entertaining me later?”.
“I will choke you if you keep doing that”.
“Do you promise?”.
"Yes, my dear".
"Can't wait, then", he smirked. You rolled your eyes, about to answer something snappy, but the work was more important at the moment.
Your phone beeped, pulling you out of the very one sided discussion. You went back to your work in silence, getting your full focus and concentration on it. If it weren’t for Loki, you would’ve already done a thousand more other things. But, as a bug on the lenses, he was stuck to your side. It seemed like you were babysitting him.
Peter was staring at the roof from the couch. A pile of homework laid by his side, untouched, and his unlocked phone seemed to be waiting for him to make a call he didn’t want to. Loki observed him, unsure if it was a good idea to ask. You looked at his uncertainty from over your shoulder, and watched him finally give up on the idea of socially interacting with the kid, sitting down by your side on the big, big (and, exaggeratingly pointing out, big; yet he sat in the nearest chair from you) table.
The compound certainly was a boring place when uninhabited, and the sun was already teasing with coming down, making the common room’s lights turn brighter and warmer. Maybe it was automatic, maybe it was Friday. You couldn’t care less, for you were too distracted by Loki’s gaze on your work.
“Loki, for fuck’s sake, would you stop staring, my dearest?”, you asked, imitating his tone of voice, hoping it’d make it less aggressive and a bit more fun. He rolled his eyes and smirked, understanding your intentions. You sounded as tired of him as you were.
“I’m...”.
“Bored, I know. What about you go entertain Pete? He looks equally, if not more, bored as you. And you’re interfering with my work, which I do not appreciate very much”.
“How am I supposed to entertain him? I’m not a clown”, he argued, slightly offended but just wanting to make time and conversation. You sighed.
“Then why do you act like one?”.
“What is that supposed to mean? Is that a midgardian insult I’m not aware of, pancake?”.
“Stop calling me that, it’s not derogative”.
“It wasn’t intended to be deroga…”.
“I’d kill for some pancakes”, interrupted Peter, trying to pull you two out of your quarrels. “Or something sweet”.
“Oh, the kid got peckish. This is perfect; you can go get him something sweet and leave my workspace alone”, you said, patting his back with an exhausted grin.
He rolled his eyes, but walked down to the kitchen looking for whatever could satiate Peter. There wasn’t anything. One would think that a billionaire would have the fridge full of chocolates, wouldn’t you?, he thought, exhausted by the idea of having to actually leave the compound to get him something. Last time he tried to buy something in Midgard, he accidentally paid three salaries to the workers in the name of Stark. He was so embarrassed, he said it was on purpose and called it an act of mischief. But it was, in fact, pure and raw unawareness of midgardian’s use of money.
“What about we bake something, Mr. Loki?”, proposed Peter, with a flaming interest in seeing what those magic hands could do with food. You chuckled, pretty sure they could do nothing; he had been a prince for over a thousand years, when could he have learnt to bake by himself?
Loki lowered his gaze, confronted with both thoughts of his companions, and their respective expectations. Truth was, you were right. But he couldn't disappoint the kid like that, he had to at least try. Peter's eyes shone brighter than ever, and you wondered if Loki was actually enjoying his company. They looked fine. And, finally, you had some space to work without distractions.
“In normal circumstances I’d reject you, spider boy, but since y/n seems to be about to hang me by the neck on the tip of the tower, might as well do this”, he said, stealing a glance at you and smirking.
“It’s an honor you decide to spend your last moments baking with me, Mr. Loki”.
“Sure, let’s go, child”.
“I’m not a child”.
“Alright”.
And just like that, they left the working area and moved to the kitchen. Both rooms were connected by a huge glassless window and a counter, so you were able to peep in and make sure they didn’t actually burn down the compound (which was the only rule Tony had) and work peacefully at the same time.
After what seemed like an eternity, they still couldn’t accept they were failing miserably, and kept stirring the mix in a bowl. Flour formed clouds around them as Peter sneezed it away, and Loki’s hair had some cream on his (now not so) impeccable hair. Peter laughed at Loki’s commentary and poor baking skills, and Loki playfully mocked how his stickiness wasn’t helpful at all.
“Have you ever baked before, Mr. Loki?”.
“I haven’t but I’ve seen people bake, I figured I could imitate them”.
“Your mum, right? I used to bake with my aunt May a lot, but just now I realize maybe she was doing everything and I was eating the dough by her side”.
“That sounds more like it”, he chuckled. The mixing bowl trembled in his hand as he got distracted by the flying eggs coming at him, and it slipped out of him, smashing near half the mix onto the floor. “Oh, fuck”.
“It’s fine, we can use the one that’s left!”.
“Your positiveness astonishes me, spider boy”.
“Spider man”.
“Right, apologies”.
“We have already put in the flour, the sugar, the eggs, the milk… What else is in the recipe?”.
“I’m trying to remember, let me see”, he closed his eyes and muttered to himself “they used cinnamon, I think. And maybe butter? Yes, and chocolate chips”.
“Who?”.
“Ah, this recipe isn’t my mum’s. She didn’t bake either, you know, Queens don’t get their hands dirty” he laughed. “It was my companion’s”, he spat and suddenly realized what he had said. He lowered his head and sighed.
“Your companion?”, asked Peter. “As in partner? A spouse?”.
“Not spouse, just… you know, I’m just realizing I shouldn’t be talking to you about it”, he brushed it off, absolutely regretting it. Because Peter, unlike any other person, lacked filters.
So he would ask and ask and not realize where to stop. And at that point you could say Peter had become some sort of a weakness in Loki’s roughness. Peter was the softest, purest and better intentioned person he had ever met (or at least that’s how he saw him; of course, Loki had never seen him in action, fighting crime), and Loki was incapable of actually denying things to him. It didn’t matter how much Peter insisted on not being seen as a child, Loki was a thousand years older.
“No, please do. Now you’ve caught my attention”, he insisted, trying to clean some of the dough from the floor. Loki sighed, watching how the kid begged him to tell him more from his feet. “Please, Mr. Loki, I swear I won’t tell”.
“Well, my lover was the one who used to cook for us”, he explained as if he was telling someone else’s story. He clearly was trying to disengage his own emotions in order to tell them out loud. “And they’d usually bake some kick-ass cinnamon cookies”.
Peter had to grab the counter to steady himself from laughter, and you couldn’t help to snort at the conversation you were indiscreetly eavesdropping. Loki smiled.
“Then we have to replicate them, if they’re so kick-ass to make you say a midgardian expression”.
“We must, but I can’t remember quite well the next steps. It’s all sort of a blur now”.
“Can’t we ask them?”.
“No”, he said quickly. The air tensed, and untensed as fast as he realized. He especified again, trying to sound less affected by it “we can’t”.
“Oh”, Peter sounded so disappointed, Loki’s heart broke a little. “Are they dead?”.
“Oh my God, Pete, you can’t just ask…”, you intervened, trying to save Loki from further discomfort.
“It’s okay, they’re… well, they’re gone”, he said with a soft voice, raising his eyebrows as who tries to explain to a little kid why their fish is upside down, leaving to the imagination the typical trace of sadness that would follow. His eyes focused on the mixing bowl, reminiscing another time, another way. Eyes of someone who tries his best to never forget the little details from someone who’s not here anymore, because memories are all he has left. He immediately snapped out of his thoughts and tried to play it cool. “But guess who’s not gone? This dough on the floor. Let’s clean it up, kid”.
“Gone as in dead?”, insisted Peter, who had a very poor self control. You would’ve grabbed your face with eight hands if you could.
“Peter, don’t…”.
“Yes, they’re dead. Inside a coffin, rotting, getting eaten by worms. You know”, said Loki, this time jokingly, trying to scare off Peter. But it didn’t work, since Peter just kept asking about it. Loki was already too tired of having to take his brain yet again to places he didn’t want them to be.
“I’m really sorry, Mr. Loki. Must be very painful”. The empathy in his eyes gave Loki the hint that he was not only being sincere, but curious about Loki's life. Interested, engaged. Not just morbidly curious, but wanting to get to know him better. Unfortunately, Loki couldn’t allow that. He would have to get the mission done, not make any friends, and go back to Asgard as alone as he came. It was the deal, the price he had to pay, the invisible handcuffs, the imaginary rope tying around his neck. Tightly, tightly, tighter.
“It’s alright, it was long ago”.
“Was they Asgardian, like you?”.
“I’m not actually Asgardian. I was raised there, but I’m from Jotunheim”.
Loki managed to move the conversation further than his lover (which he regretted highly to have brought the subject in the first place), and Peter got more and more interested in confirming how many of his mythology stories were true or not. The kitchen was the warmest place in the whole compound, and something started to smell like burnt sugar.
“So you did actually make Sif, Thor’s wife, bald? And did he make you go get her a wig in Svárthelfeim?”, he asked at the speed of light, and Loki laughed.
“Lady Sif’s not actually Thor’s betrothed. And no, I didn’t make her bald”, he said, and then muttered “she just happened to have a very low quality shampoo”.
“Ah, the cookies!”, Peter turned off the stove and took them out carefully, as to not get burned (again).
Loki peeped through the window to check on you. Your head, laying tiredly over your hands, seemed to be about to give up on you out of exhaustion. You haven’t slept properly since the mission started, and you couldn’t get your head off work for a moment. He approached you from behind and left a fresh cup of coffee and a couple of warm cookies by your side. You smiled at him gently and thanked him. If it wasn’t him you were talking about, you could’ve swore he blushed.
You have gotten so tranquil after one simple gesture, you hoped to get all your nerves down before going to sleep. Maybe it wasn’t that bad to have been stuck with them in the compound. They seemed to be having a good time, and Loki had nothing on his mind more than to have a rest after such hectic days.
“How long until you finish there?”, he asked with a low voice, a raspy, almost groany voice, that made you want to shut your computer down and throw it out of the window. You didn’t, instead, you checked your clock.
“Very soon, I’ll join you guys in a bit”.

The Girl Out of Time
Pairing: Bucky X Reader and Sam X Reader
Background: Willow Roffe was born and raised in Brooklyn. She lived her life as happily as she could with her two childhood best friends Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers. When they both left her to join the military she tried to continue with life but that didn't get to happen for her for the simple fact that she meant something to James Buchanan Barnes.
Rating: Story will be overall MATURE but not every chapter. There will be strong language, talk of both mental and physical abuse, some good ole angst, and smut. There will be a warning at the beginning of the chapter when it includes smut.
Chapter 17
Tumblr media
A few weeks after everything had happened with Shield, Hydra, and Bucky I found myself back at Gracie's. She had excitedly let me in. Turns out her children and grandchildren were there. She had introduced me to everyone then sent the kids upstairs to play while Gracie, Greg, Lucas, Anna, and I sat together in the living room.
"What have you been up to since returning?" Anna asked me.
"A lot of things. I use to work for Shield with my friend Steve but then I helped him take that down. Now I've been helping him search for a friend we thought was dead." I told them.
"James?" Gracie asked.
"Yea, turns out he's still alive. It's been an insane past few months." I told her.
"Sounds like it." Greg chuckled.
After the kids and grandkids left I sat alone on the couch with Grace.
"I've been seeing someone." I told her softly.
"Really?" She asked excitedly.
"Yea, his name is Sam. He's been in the middle of all this with me. It's rough sometimes though because I know we are eventually going to find James. What happens if I remember him and all those old feelings everyone says I had come back? I really do like Sam and I don't want to loose him or hurt him." I confided.
Grace chuckled softly then turn in her seat to face me. She grabbed my hand holding it gently between both of her's.
"Does Sam know about James?" She asked.
I nodded.
"Is he aware of your memory loss and your history with James?" She asked.
I nodded again.
"He still chooses to he with you even though he knows all this. I'm sure he knows there's a possibility of loosing you to James. The thing is, even if you won't be together forever, the time you have with Sam now is precious and full of memories you will cherish forever. I can't tell you what to decide when the time comes. All I can say is follow your heart. The right choice is not always the easiet." She spoke softly.
I just stared at her for a minute.
"How did you get to be the wise one?" I asked her quietly.
Grace chuckled then patted my leg.
"It comes with years and years of mistakes." She smiled at me.
"I hate that I didn't get to experience life with you. To be there for you when you needed me." I told her feeling the sudden need to apologize.
"Things were hard after you disappeared. Mom was an absolute mess and dad seemed to get even worse than he was before. I hadn't realized how much you had protected me and Amy from him. Things were rough but Amy and I kept pushing on because we knew that's what you would have done." Grace's voice was shaky.
I hugged her feeling even more sorry that I had been taken away from her and Amelia. I never wanted them to suffer at our father's hand. That's why I always took the beatings. I wanted them to be free and happy. I could handle the pain plus I had Steve to get me threw. I had James too but I couldn't remeber what impact he had made on me.
A few months later I woke up in bed cuddled next to Sam. I had ended up staying with him in his apartment in DC. He was already awake typing away on his phone. I wrapped my arm around his torso then moved closer to him. He chuckled then started running his fingers threw my hair.
"Steve sent me another lead for us to follow. Said he and the others are going after another Hydra base." Sam said quietly.
I groaned then rolled over on my back. Ever since we found out Bucky was still alive we've been chasing down leads. It's been months with no result. Each time the trail ends cold.
"Where to this time?" I asked him as I sat up.
"Looks like Mexico" Sam said.
I got out of bed wrapping my arms around myself from the sudden cold that hit my naked body. Sam whistled at me as he usually did. I hurried to the dresser and closet to get my clothes. Sam was quick to do the same. When we were both dressed we each packed a bag that would last us a few days.
"Let's grab some breakfast before we head out." Sam said as he walked out of the bedroom.
I pulled on the dark brown leather jacket that Steve had given me then followed Sam down the hall. When I got to the kitchen I gave Sam a quick kiss then started to pull out everything we needed. Sam did most of the cooking as usual while I helped here and there.
"How are we getting there?" I asked Sam as we ate.
"Flying" he said simply.
It took us a few days to come to the conclusion that this lead was just like the others. It's possible Bucky was there at one point but he was long gone by the time we got there. Once we were back in the states Steve called to invite us to New York for a party.
I showed Sam where the Avengers tower was in the city then we made our way all the way to the top. By the time we got there the party was in full swing.
"Sam! Willow!" Someone shouted from a small group.
Steve appeared out of the people then walked over to us quickly. He hugged me tightly to him.
"How'd it go?" He asked us.
"Cold" I told him.
He nodded with a look of disappointment clear on his face.
"I want to introduce you to some people." Steve said pulling me by my hand.
Sam followed behind us threw the crowd. Steve stopped in front of a tall, extremely muscular man with long blonde hair.
"Will this is Thor. Thor this is Willow the girl I told you about." Steve said with a smile.
Thor smiled then extended his large hand out to me. I made it a point to shake his hand using my super soldier strength. He laughed then shook his hand.
"She is mighty" his voice boomed in a foreign accent I didn't recognize.
"He's the God of Thunder and king of Asgard." Steve said to me.
"God?" I questioned in surprise.
"You've heard of the Norse god Thor right?" Steve asked clearly amused.
"Well yea" I answered.
Steve pointed to Thor. I looked up to the man who wasn't a man at all. He was a mythical god.
"You mean to tell me you're casually friends with a god?" I asked Steve.
"He's apart of the Avengers." Steve shrugged.
I just looked at him like he was crazy. He had to be joking. Steve laughed as he pulled me behind him again. This time we stopped at the bar where Tony, Hill, and another man were standing.
"Willow, nice to see you again." Tony said raising his glass to me.
"You too Stark" I smiled at him.
"This is Rhodey. He's an old friend of Stark's. He's also known as the War Machine which is one of Tony's suits." Steve explained.
"Pleasure" I said as I shook his hand.
He pulled his hand away then slowly stretched his fingers.
"Quite a grip you got there." He said in surprise.
Hill, Stark, Steve, and Sam all laughed. Apparently he hadn't been told about me yet.
"Sorry about that sometimes I forget no one other than Steve can handle my normal hand shakes." I chuckled.
"Why's that?" Rhodey asked curiously.
"She's a super soldier like Capsicle." Tony said.
"Capsicle?" I questioned him with a brow raised.
Steve sighed and shook his head while Tony laughed. Steve continued to pull me around the room to introduce me to a few people he had met. Eventually the three of us decided to go off on our own.
Steve started quietly explaining what had happened at the Hydra base. Turns out it wasn't very stealthy. They had two "enhanced" as Steve called them that really did a number on them. In the end they did end up with the septor.
"Sounds like a hell of a fight. Sorry I missed it." Sam said as we started up a set of stairs.
"If I had known it would be a fire fight I absolutely would have called you two." Steve chuckled.
"No, no, I'm not actually sorry. I'm just trying to sound tough. I'm very happy chasing cold leads with Willow on our missing person case. Avenging is your world. Your world is crazy." Sam explained as we came to a stop on a balcony overlooking the room.
"I'm kinda upset I missed it." I shrugged.
"Of course you are." Sam chuckled.
"Be it ever so humble." Steve laughed.
"You find a place in Brooklyn yet?" Sam asked Steve.
Steve sighed.
"I don't think I can afford a place in Brooklyn." He said softly.
"Well, home is home, ya know?" Sam said.
I can imagine all the reasons Steve would want a place in Brooklyn. Sam was right. Home is home. I would give anything to be able to go home. There were even days I wished I could go back to 1946. Then I had the days I was so happy to be where I was. It was a rough rollercoaster ride. Each day was different but I pushed threw and made the best of it.
"Come on we should join the others." Steve said moving to go back downstairs.
Steve left Sam and I alone to go talk to Bruce. Sam and I found a seat on a couch. Hill, Tony, Rhodey, and Clint were already sitting in the same area as us. Nat was quick to join us. The party dwindled quickly until it was only the avengers and their close personal friends.

I'm still breathing, Chapter 35
TITLE: I’m still breathing CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 35 AUTHOR: fanficshiddles ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine a mutant has been living on the streets for years, until she is picked up by the Avengers. She’s taken to live with them so they can help her to discover what her powers are. Loki especially, takes an interest in her. The two become very fond of one another as they discover what her power is. RATING: M
When Sophie woke up, she was a bit disorientated at first because of being in a deep sleep. But then her eyes focused on Loki, who was sat at the side of the bed on a chair, watching her intently.
‘Loki?’ She said sleepily, rubbing her eyes. ‘What time is it?’
‘It’s 8am, darling. Loki is in the common area with everyone else.’
‘Loki… Ohh, ok.’ Sophie clicked that it was one of his clones. Though part of her was surprised that he didn’t try to trick her first, that was the normal thing for him to do, just to mess with her mind a bit.
Sophie rolled out of bed and grabbed her dressing gown. The clone helped her get it on, like a gentleman. She turned around to face him. ‘You’re exactly the same as the real Loki, right? As in, think the same and feel the same?’
‘That is what clone means, love.’ He chuckled mischievously, the usual twinkle in his eyes there.
‘Interesting…’ She trailed off with a slight grin.
Loki cocked an eyebrow at her but followed her anyway, not saying anything.
The team were all in the living area, discussing about what to do next now they had found Owen’s location. He was undercover, staying in a hotel. But they had a feeling he was plotting something, it was just going to be a matter of time before something happened.
‘We need to act now. We can’t wait any longer!’ Loki snarled, pacing back and fore.
‘We can’t just go storming in. We need to come up with a plan first. One that will work. We need to speak to Alexa to find out if she knows a weakness of his, a way we can take him down. Because if he’s immune to all powers, we don’t have much hope.’ Steve said.
‘If we get him into the cage he had me in, his powers will be rendered useless.’ Sophie said, walking in. Everyone stopped talking and turned to face her, surprised to see her appearance since she hadn’t really ventured out of Loki’s room.
Loki’s clone was right behind her, making sure she was safe. The real Loki waved his hand and the clone disappeared in a light cloud of green smoke. Loki got up and walked over to her.
‘Aww, I quite liked him.’ Sophie teased, grinning up at him.
‘Don’t get too attached.’ Loki chuckled, circling his arm around her. ‘I wonder if the cage that was used is still there…’
‘The only trouble with that is, if we go in too then our powers will be useless. Won’t they?’ Bruce asked.
‘No, I think it’s just mutants. You guys aren’t mutants so should still be able to take him down… I hope anyway.’ Sophie said quietly, looking anxiously at Loki.
He slid his hand down her arm and laced his fingers with hers. ‘It’s worth a try. We will need to go back to the Hydra base to check if it’s still there.’ He looked from Sophie over to the rest of the team.
‘I’ll go get the twin jet ready.’ Clint said and he headed off to do so.
Loki turned to face Sophie, with his other hand he gently cupped her cheek and rubbed his thumb softly across her skin. She still had a slight red mark on her skin from where Owen had hit her.
‘I will leave a few of my clones with you. If there is anything you need, I will come straight back.’
Sophie frowned up at the God. ‘I’m coming with you.’ She said determinedly.
Loki frowned back at her. ‘No, you are to stay here, love.’
‘Loki. I want to come, I can help. Owen isn’t even in this country.’ She argued back.
But they were interrupted when Fury walked in, Clint behind him not looking happy. ‘Sorry to interrupt. But it seems that Owen may well be in this country. We had agents following who we thought was Owen, but it turns out it was a decoy. It’s not actually him. We still don’t know where he is.’ Fury said sadly, he could see how torn up Sophie was.
Loki felt Sophie’s body language change instantly. He slid his hand around the back of her neck, holding her gently.
‘What do we do now?’ Sophie looked between Fury and everyone else.
Fury looked around the team. ‘We close the place down, no one comes or goes without clearance. And Sophie does not leave the compound. Not until we find this bastard.’ Fury said.
‘I may have a better idea.’ Loki announced.
‘What?’ Sophie asked.
He leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. ‘I take you to Asgard. You can stay there until Owen is found and dealt with.’
Sophie’s eyes widened. ‘Back to Asgard?’
Thor beamed as he stood up. ‘That is an excellent idea! You will be safe there.’
‘Will you come with me?’ Sophie asked Loki.
Loki looked between everyone, unsure. He wanted to go with Sophie, obviously. But he also wanted to find Owen… For obvious reasons.
‘We can locate Owen. There’s no point you staying here in the meantime.’ Fury said. ‘Then when we find him, you can come back and help us take him in.’
Loki nodded and smiled down at Sophie. ‘I’d say that’s a good plan, wouldn’t you?’
Sophie nodded eagerly and wrapped her arms around Loki tightly, happy when he did the same and pressed his cheek to the top of her head.
Loki walked into Sophie’s room to find her packing a small bag to take to Asgard. Though she knew she would have clothing there still, and considering Frigga did say she was going to get more made for her, she probably wouldn’t need much at all.
But Loki noticed she was sad, troubled. More so than she should be considering the situation.
‘Love, what’s the matter?’ He moved behind her and rubbed her upper arms.
Sophie sighed, folding a top and putting it down on the bed on front of her. ‘I feel like I’m running away… like a coward.’ She said sadly, trying to hold it together.
‘Hey.’ Loki spun her around, his hands gripping her arms firmly yet still with the gentleness that he possessed only for her. ‘You are anything but a coward, Sophie. You are the bravest woman I have ever met.’ He moved his hands up to cup her face.
‘You survived for years on the streets. Then you were tossed into this base with strangers, terrifying strangers at that. There are some right oddballs here.’ He winked at her, making her laugh a little even through the tears that started to fall.
‘You are no coward for putting your safety first. And you are not running away. You’ve been through serious trauma, you need time to recover properly and relax knowing you are entirely safe.’ His thumbs wiped away her tears from her cheeks.
‘Trust me, poppet. You are brave and strong. And you are loved.’ He pressed a kiss to her forehead.
‘Thank you, Loki.’ She cried softly, covering his left hand with hers she leaned more into his touch. ‘I’d be so lost without you.’
‘And I’d be lost without you.’ He pressed his forehead to hers and smiled. ‘Now, we better get going. You know how impatient Thor is.’
‘Yeah. I’d rather he didn’t start a storm.’ She smiled.
The couple went to meet everyone outside on the green. Sophie was confused when she saw Natasha with a bag too.
‘Are you coming with us?’
‘I sure am. You’ll need someone with you when Loki has to return. And besides, I’ve always wanted to see how the Gods live.’ She grinned.
Sophie’s face lit up and that made Loki smile even more.
‘It’s not fair. I should get to go!’ Tony grumbled, he had his arms folded over his chest in a huff.
‘Stark, I do not think you going to Asgard to meet my parents would be a good idea.’ Thor laughed and gave him a pat on the shoulder.
Tony just grumbled under his breath at him.
Sophie laughed and nudged Loki playfully. ‘I think he would give Odin a run for his money.’ She whispered, making Loki laugh too.
‘Come on then, let’s go.’ Loki slipped an arm around Sophie’s waist and they moved over next to Natasha and Thor.
Thor looked up to the sky. ‘Heimdall, open the Bifrost.’
