#and to support the act they also start changing the genders they present as as holders. everyone is like “it's clearly multiple people”

There are a couple tropes I really love in the space of Miraculous Ladybug fan works, but quite possibly my favorite is when the miraculous holders just get creature from using their powers.
Like yeah, I would say that hosting the power of an abstract concept given sentience, that got shoved into the shape of an animal and bound to a piece of jewelry, would kinda mess with your body a bit.
The little bit of this we get in canon is basically that Adrien loves being a cat and the whole Tikki munches incident.
But I love it when people give them ears and wings and tails, give them eyes that aren't quite human anymore. Fuck with their gender and their sense of body. Sometimes it's body horror, sometimes it's just aesthetic. Love it either way.
I just think it's so fun, a lot of the time it's combined with the like "when a holder and the kawami really respect and bond with each other there's nothing that can be done except having magic bleed into the holder" I think that's fun, but also just making the animal of the kwami a bigger deal is fun. Like if you're going to make it a ladybug you might as well give her wings and antenna and mirrored eyes.
#yes I do like ml#there's just so many characters I like to mess with in my head#also sue me I'm trans and have a certain respect for body horror. for the forced change of your physical self especially when you chose it#anyway I alwasys ramble in the tags#I set up this side blog to hide random writing thoughts I had and oh boy do I have a lot and none of them are on here#and recenetly (and by recently I mean like the past year) I've been hit with so many ml thoughts)#they're all gay#and some of them are cohesive#actually a lot of them revolve around chloe and au's where she gets a meaningful improvement arc#give that gay girl intresting stuff#miraculous ladybug#ml#although one of my ideas is also my very fun very gender take of ml where to conceal their identities ladybug and chat start pretending#to be different people under the masks like they don't need to like explicitly say. they just#switch costumes a lot and they like slyly hint at maybe theres dozens of people who pass around the miraculous to make sure that their#Identities are always safe#and to support the act they also start changing the genders they present as as holders. everyone is like “it's clearly multiple people”#and during this process marinette and Adrien are both like slowly having personal gender revelations#and gabe is like tearing his hair out over having to fight this secret group of superheros that he can never find or catch#but he's still just getting his ass kicked by two kids who're doing the world's most successful costumes change bits#it's like those “fake dating” tropes where they're like “oh but we really do love each other” but with gender#“oh I've got a great idea lets pretend to be different genders sometimes”#cut to “hmh ok so I think I'm not pretending anymore”#oh I do always ramble in the tags

Propaganda
Greta Garbo (Camille, Anna Karenina, Queen Christina)—Enigmatic and alluring and made me bisexual. The perfect example of the eroticism in silent films that literally transcends text. Could literally not change anything about her expression but you knew by looking at her eyes what she was thinking. She’s so gorgeous.
Lilian Bond (The Old Dark House)—I owe whoever submitted her for the prelims a huge bouquet of roses bc WOW I'm in love?? The prelims grouped all the ladies by decade and the way she stood out against the beauty standards of the 30s immediately caught my eye (and also that unfairly sexy pic good GOD). There's something about her that feels so real, like you could just walk up to her and start chatting away. I wound up watching The Old Dark House for her and was so charmed. She's so fun to watch! Look at her eyes! Her eyebrows! Her Cupids bow! Her legs! She's both sexy and cute, silly and serious, and I find her absolutely enchanting.
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Garbo:
Tumblr media
A cold-ass Swedish WLW Sphinx. Had plans to murder Hitler that she never got around to. "She will remain always a child of vikings, moved about by a snowy dream."
First of all, she's on the money; that's how much of a treasure she is. She's beautiful in such a distinct way you need very few lines to draw her. (Drawing by Einar Nerman) She managed to be mesmerizing in both silent and sound films. She kissed a woman in Queen Christina (and probably several more in real life). She was super dry and really funny in Ninotchka. She got the hell out of Hollywood and stayed out, living for almost 50 years after her retirement.
Tumblr media
Garbo is one of the many reasons why I'm gay. If you haven't seen Queen Christina please do, She is so gender in that film. Also her accent makes it sound like she's always talking in cursive and it's so hypnotic (or at least I think so).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's a gay introvert, like all of us here on Tumblr.
Tumblr media
Mysterious and aloof, charismatic and enigmatic, with beautiful androgynous characteristics, Garbo is undoubtedly the most eccentric and unique Hollywood vintage star. Her aversion to fame and stardom makes her even more desirable to the audience, and her insane chemistry with the camera, an actress one of a kind! Her particularity and her oddity is what discerns her strongly from her hollywood co workers at the time, noone was like her and would never be like her. I think, to the utmost extent, that she deserves the title of the hottest vintage star, even though that would be an understatement of what she is!
Tumblr media
SO gorgeous, her thick Swedish accent makes will turn your brain into pudding
Tumblr media
Probabaly a lesbian, absolutely a mood when she retired
Tumblr media
Bond:
Tumblr media
I know you've said you prefer text to pics but I just love this first pic so so much - she just feels so present and I feel like it captures everything I love about her so well.
Tumblr media
you guys, she's literally sooooo cute! i had no idea before i saw her acting, but she has this lovely sort of lively, natural energy. she's really just a joy to watch! thanks to the person who submitted her for introducing me to her! ❤️

Anyone who's taken a look at my notes knows I Fucking Ramble, so don't look here unless you wanna see me share way too many thoughts about Our Life: Now and Forever (including way too much about my personal life)
youtube
Guys. Oh my god. Where do I even start. Maybe with just:
Little things I love about the demo
I am a sucker for character customization, and this game delivers that in spades. You can choose so many different things, from your appearance with a doll maker/picrew type thing, your gender and pronouns (with a BUNCH of customization), to what your bedroom looks like, to little stuff like what kind of drink you get at a restaurant. This was present in the first game too, Our Life: Beginnings and Always (OL:BA), but it's more in-depth here, and I love it. And I love that you can see your little avatar when your character speaks. I feel like it just flows so nicely, and it makes me wanna replay it with different characters. Of course, you also get many different dialogue choices, and there are so many choices to pick from. I LOVE it.
So, I absolutely adore OL:BA, and I love Cove with my whole entire heart. But man, inside of me there are two wolves: one of them is a Summer Disliker, and one of them is a rabid Autumn Pinterest Girlie. I ADORE fall, colourful leaves, mushrooms, rain, etc etc etc.
So seeing that Our Life: Now and Forever (OL:NF) takes place in a sleepy town in the AUTUMN?? With scenery like THIS???
Tumblr media
I want to live here in real life.
The art style in general is just so beautiful. The colours, the softness of it all, the spritework, the cg art: everything is so stunning. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On a different note, the extent to which you can customize your relationships with Qui and Tamarack is so cool. You can go through a slow-burn romance, as neighbours to childhood friends to crushes to partners. You can have a cute love-at-first-sight childhood crushes story. You can avoid romance altogether and have a chosen-family dynamic. You can have a poly relationship and date both of them. Not ONLY that, but even the way that they interact with you can be customized;
Tumblr media
That's so cool!! You can choose whether a character looks up to you or takes care of you, or whether they prefer to compliment you or tease you. And you can choose the same kind of thing when you interact with them in turn! A visual novel having this level of depth in a relationship is so awesome. The game will even remember things: like, if you react negatively to certain types of interactions, the characters can remember and act accordingly in the future. That's so cool!
I like that this story seems to be a little bit more serious than the last game. OL:BA has basically zero stakes, and very little serious conflict. That's not a bad thing at all, it's very much supposed to be a comfy, indulgent game. But OL:NF begins Step 2 by showing that the main characters have drifted apart as they've grown older. Not only is that nice realism, but it also adds both possible comfort potential (bringing your old friends back together and having good times) AND possible whump/angst potential (watching who used to be your best friends drift apart completely). The (optional) jealousy mechanic could also add to this. Obviously the game isn't finished yet and I could totally be off the mark, but even if this kind of thing doesn't end up happening, the fanfic potential is also there!
I really like how complex the characters are. Even as kids, they have wants and motivations and flaws, and they're so likeable. They change throughout the story, because not only are they growing up and older, but they have their own experiences and personal struggles. And speaking of characters:
Quick thoughts about Main Characters
> Tamarack Baumann
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh my goodness. Ohg. Tammy. She is so so important to me. She is so sweet and supportive, and she's so pretty. Look at her. Oh my god I love her.
I absolutely adore Tamarack, and part of it is that I relate to her in a couple ways. I grew up as the insecure fat girl. I love frogs and toads. The cello is my favourite instrument, and I would love to learn to play one day. When she first said that she lived with her Omi and Opa, I literally gasped in real life, because I lived with my Omi and Opi for about a year, when I was her age.
> Qui "Autumn" Lin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
QUI!!!!!! I love them so dearly, their mannerisms and the way they speak are so so endearing. They change a lot throughout the story, which is going to be so interesting to see. And they are ALSO so so pretty. Oh my god.
As a trans person myself who is definitely playing as a trans MC, I'm so curious to see the interactions with Qui, since they struggle with their own gender identity as well. Also, when they do figure out their identity in Step 3:
Tumblr media
What??? That's so cool!!!
In which I get a little bit too personal:
This is probably tmi but I don't care. To make a very long story short, I had a really shitty traumatic childhood. Especially around ages 10-15. Even disregarding that, I was always a 'mature for my age' child, who followed all the rules and was terrified of ever stepping out of line. I never got the chance to be a normal kid.
So, getting the chance to go through this game, being able to experience growing up in such a beautiful area, with a supportive family and no trauma and friends that care about you. It's just. So nice.
-
Anyways. I'm gonna go now and make a bunch of OCs to play through the demo with and make different choices, because the hyperfixation is truly all-consuming

If they allowed one TIM in because he had the surgery and legal documents changed then it would open the floodgates to other TIMs in various stages of transition.
Females-only app that banned trans woman says it was creating a 'safe space'
This is the first time a case alleging gender identity discrimination has been heard by the Federal Court.

KEY POINTS
Trans woman Roxanne Tickle was banned from female-only social media platform Giggle for Girls.
Her lawyers argue this is discrimination on the grounds of gender identity.
Giggle's barrister Bridie Nolan said the app was created to give women a safe space.
Lawyers for trans woman Roxanne Tickle have argued she is a woman and was discriminated against when she was banned from using a female-only app.
The question of whether someone is a woman is not just biological but also social and psychological, a court has heard on the first day of a landmark trans-rights lawsuit.
Trans woman Roxanne Tickle is suing female-only social media platform Giggle for Girls after having her access to the app revoked in September 2021.
The app and its founder, Sall Grover, illegally discriminated on the grounds of gender identity, Tickle's lawyer Georgina Costello told a Federal Court hearing in Sydney on Tuesday
"The evidence will show that Ms Tickle is a woman," Costello said.
"She perceives herself as a woman. She presents herself as a woman."
'An online refuge'
Giggle's barrister Bridie Nolan said the app was created to give women a safe space, free from "male online digital violence".
Grover experienced sexual abuse during her time working as a screenwriter in Hollywood and had undergone trauma therapy, the court was told.
The app offered a range of ways for users to connect, including finding roommates and engaging socially or romantically.
"The vision was to create an online refuge," Ms Nolan said.
"It would be a place without harassment, mansplaining, d*** pics, stalking, aggression."
Nolan argued the app was not in breach of sex discrimination laws, which allow for "special measures intended to achieve equality".
The app created greater "equality between men and women in public life" by creating a safe space for women online, she said.
Therefore, excluding Tickle, who Nolan argued was a man, would constitute a "special measure" under the laws, she said.

Costello labelled Giggle's arguments "artificial, after-the-fact justifications" for discrimination against transgender women.
Tickle was issued a birth certificate stating she was female a year after undergoing gender-affirming surgery in October 2019.
Costello told the court in her opening statement that "gender is not merely a biological question, it is partly social and partly psychological".
"Ms Tickle was assigned male gender at birth but she has changed to being a woman and that fact is clear in this case," she said.
Representatives from the Australian Human Rights Commission, including Sex Discrimination Commissioner Anna Cody are assisting the court by providing submissions about the "meaning, scope and validity of relevant provisions of the Sex Discrimination Act".
"The commissioner is not a party to the proceeding and has not made submissions about whether Ms Tickle was in fact discriminated against," the human rights commission said in a statement.
It is the first time a case alleging gender identity discrimination has been heard by the Federal Court.
'Unwilling to tolerate any view contrary to their own'
Supporters for both sides gathered outside the Federal Court for the start of the proceedings, protesting within metres of each other.
Justice Robert Bromwich said the court would not tolerate any "intimidation or harassment" either within the courtroom or outside it.

"I appreciate that the issues from this case give rise to strongly held views and emotions," he said.
Some members of the public had shown they were "unable or unwilling to tolerate the existence of any view contrary to their own", Bromwich added.

In a statement filed with the Australian Human Rights Commission in December 2021, before the Federal Court case was launched, Tickle outlined the alleged discrimination.
"I believe that I am being discriminated against by being provided with extremely limited functionality of a smartphone app by the app provider compared to that of other users because I am a transgender woman," Tickle wrote.
"I am legally permitted to identify as female."
The hearing continues.

Hi! I saw your requests for tf2 were open, so I was wondering if you could do something with spy or sniper and an insecure gn reader? Feel free to ignore this if your not feeling it^^ have a nice day!
Spy and Sniper Giving You Affirmations!
[GN!Reader]
[Warnings: I mention gender dysphoria a lot in here]
[AN: been in my inbox nearly 2 months im so sorry </3. Also my road w gender has been fascinating but the past few years I've identified as a ciswoman. So, if anything here reads as odd or uncomfortable, let me know and I'll change/edit as requested!]
Reblogs are appreciated!
Spy
Weirdly I think out of the two of them he's the most understanding about this. And I don't mean understanding he would hate you otherwise and be a dick (he's always a dick but not like that), he's just weirdly educated on the topic but refuses to outright admit it.
Anyways, yeah so you're going through one of those days where the dysphoria is getting especially bad. How can he help? He loves you, and I think one of his love languages is acts of service.
So, how can he help you feel less of that? He knows that there's societal expectations for you to look the way the sex that you were born as, would you like to go in another direction? Do you want to vent?
Just let him know and he'll do his best to accommodate. He's very affirming in your identity and will always perceive you as you wish to be perceived.
If your insecurities are in anything else, he's a big hype man without being a stereotypical hype man. He's very realistic and gives a sense of tough love when it comes to loving and trusting, even becoming neutral with yourself. He won't let you talk down about yourself. That's not good for you.
He will always uplift you. By no means is he super duper soft, but he will uplift you and remind you of your worth every single day.
Sniper
Doesn't understand this stuff at all. Very big "what other people do isn't my business" but you're his partner and this is really important to you so now he needs to brush up on what you're talking about.
He's always found the gender binary kind of silly. Understands the concept of being gender neutral, or fluid, but that's about it. Even then, his understanding is flawed. This does not mean he is totally inept though. He's your biggest supporter.
Much like Spy, what do you need? He's a man of action. He will listen to you, support you, and uplift you. You just need to tell him exactly what you want.
Though, he's very observant. If you're not able to say it, he's pretty much on it before you can even start to think of the words to ask. Whether that's breaking away from what other people think you are, or getting you things to feel more at home with who you want to present as, he's very thoughtful and introspective!
He also has a lot of affirmations for you. Has you repeat things like, "I am strong", what not because he read it in the back of a newspaper once while holed up in a sniper's nest for a job.
If it's not related to this, then he's also got a tough love approach but somehow a bit softer than Spy. I think he's more prone to listening, and then acting, whereas Spy manages them all together. Sometimes, you need to be angry and upset or sad, and that's okay. Mundy will support and love you through it all.

Hi! I saw your post about due South and gender, and I'm so interested in what you had to say, and it definitely got me thinking, and I'm so sorry for the wall of text.
I'm most interested in Fraser's experience of gender, because imo he's a character archetype that female characters aren't often portrayed as (knight errant, duty and responsibility as a mask for real feelings and decisions, etc). Like, Fraser's loneliness and sense of alienation even from other RCMP- Were there many other women in her trainee class? Did male colleagues feel threatened by a stubborn, intelligent, and near-supernaturally talented woman, and if so, how was that expressed? How would Thatcher and Fraser's relationship change? Would Bob Fraser have been supportive of his daughter being a Mountie, or would there always be a sense of comparing her to a son that didn't even exist, however unintentionally?
Even things like Fraser's apartment in seasons 1 and 2. How would Ray V (of any gender really), react to a single woman in a strange city (even a single woman with a half-wolf and enormous capacity to take care of herself) insisting on living in a terrible apartment in a bad part of town? Fraser would have bewildered, infuriated, and endeared herself to Ray V from day 1, and it could be interesting to see how Ray V's notions about women change when he's presented with Fraser's complete inability to be anyone but herself.
I already love the "Victoria's" secret arc, and I think it could be just as compelling with a queer element entangled with Fraser's loneliness, not to mention potentially having to hide the real nature of her relationship with Victoria for a number of reasons.
Again, I apologize for the rambling, and I would love to hear any other thoughts you have on the Rays and Fraser and gender.
Never apologize for rambling, this is fantastic!!!
I always pictured Fraser as a woman trying desperately to even be acknowledged by her father or her peers. You know, it's always brought up by Bob and everyone who knows him how she's just like her father - except she's a woman. Like her being a woman downplays all of her achievements (I recall Thatcher mentioning this in the show). Marginalized groups so often get thrust into a position where they can't be anything less than perfect, and I think in Fraser's case that would be taken to the max. Like, you want your dad to notice you because even if you did everything right he still won't take you camping since you're a girl. You go above and beyond expectations in your class, and no one takes you seriously because most people are objectifying you. (Oh, and don't get me started on how Fraser still faces sexual harassment but now it'd be from men. Oof.) I can see Fraser really upsetting the men at the police station/RCMP because of her solve-rate. Like, can you imagine a bunch of male cops, in the 90s, getting out shined by a lady? They'd have a fit over that. Dewey specifically comes to mind when he said he could beat Lady Shoes in poker because she's a woman. But I also think Fraser would keep that 'innocent mountie' shtick to protect herself, though she's not above using sexism to her advantage (I'm thinking Ms Fraser going 'you wouldn't hit a woman would you'). At the end of the day, Fraser is still very much JUSTICE and the COMMON GOOD above all else, even ignoring her inner yearning to have recognition for her achievements (and yes, love, Fraser would still be incredibly lonely). I think that gives the conversation in the Vault a different weight. And Fraser would absolutely do hair flips.
Okay, so I think if we go with Vecchio being a woman rather than a man, their relationship would have this envy about it. Since Fraser literally acts like she gives zero fucks about doing anything (she lives in an apartment in a sketchy place by herself, ignores the jabs of male coworkers, etc.), I feel like Vecchio would want what she has and be even more annoyed when Fraser gets all the attention in Red, White, or Blue since she'd be undermined and harassed as a female cop in Chicago. God, we all know that Vecchio isn't the best at his job, but instead of being seen as a buffoon can you imagine how they'd berate her as a woman? How she'd have to represent her entire gender, especially coming from a traditional Italian family? Not to mention if we switch it so she's the sole/eldest daughter in the Vecchio family, the societal pressure of that is immaculate. Though, I do imagine her to keep Vecchio being the most emotionally mature (or at least expressive) out of the three leads. She'd be wanting to talk about stuff and Fraser'd be throwing herself out windows more than ever.
Now, Kowalski, oh boy. In the my head she's not changing anything about her style - this woman is 100% butch. Personally, I read canon Kowalski as someone who got bullied in school (I mean, in the 70s he had glasses, had a best friend that was a girl, small, had less money than his peers, and has shit self-esteem. I can't see that he wasn't bullied) and he created this super tough 'loose cannon' persona to fight back (I also read Fraser and Kowalski as definitely queer, with Vecchio being a more grey area but anyways that would make sense for Kowalski's overly butch persona as well). Kowalski as a woman is no different, but now you got an extra layer to that because women aren't taken seriously in law enforcement. A guy calls her 'sweetheart', dude you better fucking run. Guys probably tell her to smile and she punches their teeth out. She's still a whirlwind of emotions but now she isn't seen as 'scary' because she's a woman. And as a butch woman, she's probably seen as a 'freak' and bullied at her job. Probably also a factor to why she goes undercover so much, at least she can get away from the people at the precinct more. And I would switch her name to Stella Rachel Kawolski and her husband Stanley Kowalski (because I think that'd be even weirder for a dad to name his daughter that???).
Now a f/f Victoria/Fraser has some terrible implications into stereotypes of lesbian relationships. You know, the 'Mean Lesbian' as it were, and maybe that would reinforce Fraser's not only fear of love, but her fear of queerness. So, I think Kowalski coming along and being openly gender nonconforming and developing a friendship/relationship with her would be incredibly healing for Fraser. I also feel like Fraser would still be drawn to Kowalski's vulnerability since she was taught never to show emotion other than happiness as a woman. And she's be drawn to Vecchio for not being afraid to complain constantly. When that woman is mildly inconvenienced, she'll let you know. And I think both Rays would really be enamoured by Fraser by all the same qualities in canon, but even more so as she demonstrates you can be badass and a kind person (something hollywood really needs to learn with their female characters already).
I see Fraser and Thatcher at first having a competitive relationship but one sided on Thatcher's part (internalized misogyny) but then in We are the Eggmen she realizes how stupid that is and they have a healthy working relationship :)
Thank you so much for this ask, I had so much fun writing it! Feel free to drop by any time!

The alarm bells have been ringing for some time, but now the entire narrative around adolescent gender dysphoria is breaking apart
I remember as a teenager reading about a strange disorder called anorexia. I had never heard of it – and then I noticed one of my best friends cleaning her teeth several times a day and exercising manically. And it wasn’t just her that was acting weirdly. Several girls I knew were clearly suffering. Then came bulimia, which turned the school loos into sad places in which certain girls spent worrying amounts of time.
Then, as a mother of daughters, I remember reading about an epidemic of cutting among teenagers. Surely this highly unusual behaviour was not rampant? Well, the internet told me it was and an NHS psychiatrist informed me about self-harm circles in certain schools.
These thoughts occur because I am trying to understand how we started talking of “trans children” and thought this was somehow some kind of “progress”. This, after all, is a new phenomenon. In 2010, for instance, with the Equality Act, which made gender reassignment a protected characteristic, the intention was surely to avoid discrimination against adult transsexuals. This is a laudable aim, but no one was talking about children then. The phrase “gender dysphoria” was not bandied about. It was rare to come across a child who had such severe gender issues they needed specialist services. Indeed, in that year, only 75 children were referred to Gids (the NHS’s Gender Identity Development Service, based at the Tavistock Centre in north-west London). By 2021 it was 5,000.
Now we are in a situation where celebrities wear T-shirts saying Protect Trans Kids and where schools, even primary schools, are colluding with the idea that children are whatever they say they are, that their bodies are somehow wrong and that they can change their names without parental consent.
The alarm bells have been ringing for some time about Gids. What was most alarming was this sudden spike in girls presenting with gender dysphoria and the increasing evidence of the harms of puberty blockers.
When Dr Hilary Cass was commissioned to report on standards of care within the NHS, it was as if finally an adult had stepped into the room. She and her team have looked at the evidence and practices that had recently evolved the affirmative model (designed to support and affirm an individual’s gender identity) and found much wanting. She also signalled the high levels of comorbidities with gender dysphoria. A high proportion of these girls who did not want to be girls were autistic. Many had troubled childhoods or had been in care. Many were gay. All of this resulted in the unravelling of Gids and a ban on puberty blockers.
In the full report, which is due to be published this week, Cass is not only concerned with medical intervention (puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, surgery) but is also expected to come out against “social transition”. Though this is not something that happens within the health service, it is, she says, an “active intervention because it may have significant effects on the child or young person in terms of psychological functioning. There are different views on the benefits versus the harms of early social transition… it is not a neutral act and better information is needed about outcomes.”
Some believe that socially transitioning kids will lock them into a gender identity and medical pathway that is detrimental. Cass emphasises that gender expression is indeed fluid and changeable for adolescents and that many may take till their mid-20s to settle. In other words, leave these kids alone.
Indeed, faced with this huge increase in kids saying they are trans, many schools have acquiesced. Yet teachers are not clinicians, nor are they there to diagnose children. Do they understand what they are doing? The entire narrative around trans children has been imported from America, but it is breaking apart.
Those who want to see themselves as compassionate and modern have embraced some seriously dodgy ideas. The evidence against puberty blockers, which were sold as “a pause” and reversible, mounts up. The Mayo Clinic has suggested that these drugs can lead to cancer. There is a court case coming up in Italy, and many predict that once the dam breaks, many who have been prescribed these drugs will sue their doctors.
This has all been allowed to happen because children have been lied to. They are told they can change sex; they are told that puberty will be awful; they are told they will feel suicidal. Anyone who challenges this has been deemed a pariah. So we end up with newly qualified English teachers now deciding that they are doing the right thing by keeping a child’s fantasy identity secret from their parents.
Many are terrified of this issue and go along with what they must know to be dubious. We have yet to see where the Labour Party will go on this, because it too quakes in front of its own activists. Yet any serious person must address the issues around safeguarding. The gender dysphoric child must be protected, of course, but so must the other kids in the class who have a right to single-sex changing rooms.
Now is the time to step back and ask ourselves how we got here. The trans child is a manifestation of a recent story that the culture has told itself. This is a story of social contagion combined with the genuine distress of mostly young girls.
Children cannot be blamed for acting out, but the adults who have encouraged this, while patting themselves on the back for their progressive views, still need to be challenged. Cass is but the start.

Panel Presentation: "Justify My Love" and "One of Your Girls"
youtube
"JUSTIFY MY LOVE" BY MADONNA
The No. 1 hit single “Justify My Love” by Madonna is a song that explores desire, love, sex, and choice. The music video shows Madonna as she kisses men and women, and it also features other queer couples. The music video was banned from MTV and created a scandal due to its sensual nature.
Judith Butler, “Gender is Burning: Questions of Appropriation and Subversion”
Butler’s essay explores the construction and representation of gender. Specifically, she claims that gender is just a performance reinforced by repeated acts [1]. At the start of the music video, there is an androgynous figure shown in the hallway. They appear to be a topless woman with pearls and gloves; however, they have short hair and a slightly more masculine face (00:00:22). At a glance, it is difficult to tell whether or not this is a man or woman–does it even matter?–but it shows that gender is a performance. You choose how to present yourself to the world and looking like a man/woman is based on societal norms. A similar argument can be made for the two women in drag with drawn on mustaches; at a glance it’s difficult to tell whether they are men or women, again, supporting the idea that gender is a performance (00:04:17). At this moment, they present as men, although they are women. There are also several other people, such as an androgynous women Madonna kisses (00:02:00-00:02:41), a man cross dressing (00:04:33), and two transgender women that appear in a mirror (00:02:50) that support this idea that gender isn’t necessarily a “natural” thing, we just associate certain traits with certain genders.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, Butler claims that “‘imitation’ is at the heart of the heterosexual project… [and that] hegemonic heterosexuality is itself a repeated effort to imitate its own idealizations” [2]. This statement can be applied to the heterosexual couples featured in the video. At the beginning of the video, there’s a man tightening a woman’s corset. The man is muscular, dressed in leather, and has a mustache. The woman has an hourglass body figure, prominent breasts, and makeup on (00:01:21-00:01:27). The way they look follows the heterosexual ideal. The couple clearly follows gender norms through body shape and dress. They imitate hypersexual heterosexual idealizations, whether consciously or subconsciously, furthering the heterosexual project. There are several other heterosexual couples too. For one, Madonna is seen with a man, and they are both clearly feminine/masculine (00:01:05-00:01:20). Madonna is also seen on the bed as he stands above her, until the man is swapped with a woman (00:01:44-00:01:54). Additionally, there’s a close up where a man forces a woman to look at the camera. She appears to be frightful (00:04:25-00:04:28). These two examples show the following of heterosexual norms because in both, the women seem to have less power. Because Madonna’s the one on the bed, she’s the one going to have things done to her, tying into our readings about the male gaze and how women are typically featured with less power. In the second example, the woman clearly is not in control; the man forces her to look at the camera by grabbing her face. In these scenes, the couples follow the heterosexual norm of the women being more submissive.
Tumblr media
Also, I’d like to mention the dancer in a black bodysuit. They may be a symbol of change/fluidity. When Madonna was on the bed, at first, she was with a man. Then the dancer in a black bodysuit appeared, and next there was a woman (00:01:55-00:01:57). Another time the dancer makes an appearance is before the audience sees the two transgender women in the mirror (00:02:43-00:02:46). The dancer appears again before Madonna is seen with the original man (00:03:37-00:03:40). The dancer is also seen in the shot with two men and a cross dressing man on the couch (00:04:29). In each instance, change is featured: the man is swapped for a woman, there has been a transition in gender, and there has been a transition in appearance. This ties into Butler’s essay because it shows how fluid gender is, showing how “‘being a man’ and ‘being a woman are internally unstable affairs” [3].
Tumblr media
Judith Halberstam, “Looking Butch”
Halberstam’s essay discusses the queer gaze, positive images, and butches. The queer gaze is getting around codes/barriers by identifying queer characteristics in the people on screen. It’s a way to identify with the characters on screen even if there aren’t queer characters [4]. In Madonna’s music video, there are many queer people. However, Madonna herself can be used as an avatar within the queer gaze. Specifically, in regard to this music video, through her lyrics and performance she’s able to express her sexuality. She got pushback for it but was still able to be herself. Closeted queer people want to openly express their sexuality, so they may make Madonna their icon/live through her.
Tumblr media
Halberstam also discusses a “positive image,” or rather, “the opposite of a stereotype” [5].   Positive images are when societally good images use marginalized peoples. Madonna’s music video has both positive and negative images, and also many neutral images. Madonna herself is a positive image. In the music video, she’s portrayed as bisexual. When she’s on the bed with the man about to have sex, she puts up her hands and says, “not like that” (00:01:50-00:01:55). This shows Madonna, the woman in the relationship, having power. It’s a positive image of women and bisexual women - they have the power to refuse what they don’t want. Furthermore, at the end of the video, there’s a black screen with a quote “poor is the man whose pleasures depend on the permission of another” (00:04:58). In this case, the man is the one presented as weaker, further supporting that women can control their situations. This is a negative image for men, though, because it promotes the stereotype that they’ll do anything for and are dependent on sex. An even more negative image would be when a man grabs a woman’s face, forcing her to look at the camera (00:04:25-00:04:28). This promotes the negative image that men have the power, and women can do nothing about it. Generally, though, there are happy, queer, couples in the video, pushing the positive image that queer couples are happy. Ultimately, there’s a blend of positive and negative in the music video.
Tumblr media
Halberstam also discusses butches, and some are featured within Madonna’s music video. One is a woman that wears suspenders and a cop hat (00:03:11). They do appear to be a bit androgynous, but Halberstam may claim that this is a transvestite butch. The transvestite butch may do “cross-dressing and [assume] female masculinity in relation to the notion of disguise” [6]. Although women can be cops and wear suspenders, these clothes are generally more associated with men. The outfit gives the butch a more masculine feel. Also, the butch grabs the man’s head and kisses him (00:03:12-00:03:23). So, Halberstam may also classify this person as a predatory butch, a butch that’s “the gunslinger, the prison warden, the gang member, the female pimp; in short, the bulldagger” [7]. Just by dress, this person fits the bill, but based on actions, the person seems to have power, seems to be a tough guy.

youtube
"ONE OF YOUR GIRLS" BY TROYE SIVAN
Troye Sivan’s “One of Your Girls” expresses frustration over loving a straight man while being a gay man. The music video presents Troye Sivan dressed in drag, as he’d like to be “one of [his] girls” so that he’d be loved back in the same way.
Judith Butler, “Gender is Burning: Questions of Appropriation and Subversion”
The start of the video features a mix of more masculine and feminine men, with Troye himself appearing more feminine (00:00:01-00:00:30). This goes to show how gender is not a “natural” concept, it’s human made and just a performance. People decided what features belong to which gender, determining which guys look more masculine or feminine.
Tumblr media
When Sivan is in drag, he’s very convincing as a woman; I didn’t realize it was him at first (00:00:53). This, again, goes to show that gender is just a performance. His makeup is done to look like a very feminine, pretty woman. Since anyone can adopt these features and pass as a woman, it suggests gender isn’t inherent as Butler claims. There are simply societal ideals of what’s feminine vs. masculine. If gender wasn’t just a performance, there would be more of a sign indicating that he wasn’t actually female.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, when Sivan was in drag giving a lap dance to another man (00:01:49-00:01:51), it showed how heterosexuality is an imitation of itself. If you didn’t know Sivan was in drag, you’d assume that this is a heterosexual couple expressing their attraction. However, because Sivan is in drag, that means this couple is not heterosexual. As Butler states, heterosexuality itself is a performance, like drag [8]. Furthermore, Sivan is literally performing; he’s dancing. He “performs” heterosexuality, or rather, imitates it at least, showing how heterosexuality is an imitation of itself.
Tumblr media
Judith Halberstam, “Looking Butch”
Although Sivan’s video doesn’t feature any butches, it does deal with queer gaze will apply. Sivan sings about being “one of your girls or homies,” showing how he'd like to be a girl just so that this guy will like him. It already has queerness infused; however, the line could be read in multiple ways. Transgender people could identify with it because it deals with wanting to be another gender. Nonbinary/gender fluid people may also be able to relate because of the line “girls or homies.” Sivan does not just say girls.
Tumblr media
Regarding positive/negative images, there aren’t many within the music video. Portions of the video are in black and white and other portions are in color. However, all parts of the video where Troye Sivan presents himself as male are in black and white. The first instance of color appearing is when he’s in drag (00:00:31). This could be read multiple ways. One is that he’s desperate for this guy to like him, and he’ll only be happy when this man likes him. This is definitely a more negative image - it portrays gays as people who base their happiness off of what others think. However, this could also be interpreted as a positive image. The image (not necessarily the lyrics) could show that Sivan was happy when he could present as a girl. Being himself and doing what he wished made him happy. This is a positive image for trans people - they are happier when they can present themselves as their gender. Otherwise, though, no one is portrayed in a particularly positive/negative light. The song revolves around unrequited love, and you feel bad for Sivan, but it doesn't use particularly strong positive/negative images.
Tumblr media
Discussion Questions
What are some other representations of people in drag in the media? Are these representations positive or negative? How do these representations compare to “One of your Girls”’s?
In the music video for “Justify My Love,” there is representation of different identities. However, they are all in a sexual context. What implications does this have? Is it harmful or harmless?
Madonna’s music video has a large array of queer people. However, she’s still the main focus and very feminine. Even when she kisses the girl, it seems more so for the male gaze. On the other hand, in Sivan’s video, he’s the one subverting gender norms. Sivan’s video doesn’t feature other outwardly queer people, though. Which video do you think is a better representation of queer people?
Halberstam states that “a cinema of positive images is simply not a very interesting cinema” [9]. Do you agree with this statement? Also, should we still use markers such as positive/negative to analyze representation?

Kaveh's s/o coming out to him as transgender
This one was originally meant to be for the enby folks but realized it pretty much works for trans people in general lol
Also godd I love this man so much? I'm obsessed with him? He's so sweet? Please send in requests for him?
Cw: slight accidental misgendering
Tumblr media
Oh my god he's honestly so good to you
He thinks about it so much in the start, wanting to understand as much as he can so he can be as respectful of your identity as possible
Though tbh he actually seems to grasp the situation way better than any other cis man typically would, being extremely good at putting himself in other's shoes
He doesn't doubt you. He understands that the only person who can know how you feel is you
And he never really gets into sensitive gender topics either unless you bring it up
If you ask him to use different pronouns then he might slip up a little bit in the start (got a lot on his mind and isn't very used to seeing you in this new light yet) but quickly gets ahold of it
It doesn't really cross his mind to do research on it, mainly because this is your experience of life. Words on a page written by someone else doesn't feel like the correct way of leaning about you
Though if you suggest it to him, or seem confused about it yourself, he'd gladly pick up a book
He doesn't really think much of what this will mean in terms of his sexuality. It's you. He's so smitten he knows he'd love you in whatever form you take
If you wish to change your gender presentation then ofc he will support you!
Sure he loves the way you look, but more than that he loves seeing you smile and be comfortable and confident in yourself. He honestly doubts any change to your appearance could stop him from loving you
If you'd like a new wardrobe then he'd love helping you pick out new clothes. His artistic eye would be excellent at finding clothes that suit you and the presentation you're going for
He thinks it's absolutely fascinating, no, mesmerizing to see you grow into yourself. Your appearance, and body language and... even the way you talk and act! You're being sculpted into an entirely new, happier person
It's almost like he's witnessing the most riveting art project's progression. He can't wait to see the end result!

I’m curious about your thoughts and maybe knowledge (since you seem more familiar with the BL industry than me, but that could be incorrect) on the change in how MA sort of publicly acknowledge/present themselves? I’m not sure how to word it properly but the basic gist of the whole “private, not secret” thing, and how it’s shifted from a few months ago when the show was airing. Not from a personal perspective, bc we’ll never know and it’s not our business, but from a public and business perspective. Is it because the show is over, and was so successful, or they’ve aligned themselves with some supportive seeming brands? Or are they really just pushing the boundaries of the industry? Or have they honestly been the same the whole time and we (me) just didn’t notice? I’m just curious as to why they might have started be more, I dunno how to put it but basically not subtle (#loud and proud era). Sorry this is so wordy. Ignore it if it’s not your jam.
Hi! Sure, I'll bite.
I'm flattered you think I'm knowledgeable about the [drama] BL industry specifically... but fundamentally the ent/film industry functions similarly between countries and genres in that it's about executives trying to maximize profits related to producing a piece of media while at the same time mitigating risk.
Fundamentally, having queer entertainers (whether it's actors, musicians, miscellanous category of media personalities that include even youtubers) presents a risk not only because of imbued societal homophobia/queerphobia, but because it presents a problem in the perception of availability.
What do I mean by perception of availability? Well, check out this hilariously unhinged open letter to Chris Evans that got ratio'd to death on twitter today (I'm embedding it in case twitter ever dies because it's hilarious..ly stupid).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So is there a category of fans who think they will actually get together with their idol? Sure. But a greater number of fans prefer the fantasy of the possibility that it may happen. That's why many kpop fans often demand their idols remain "single" literally up until they get married. (Also aside for kpoppies... Lee Sungmin literally got pushed out of Super Junior for getting married is how unhinged that level of entitlement is.)
This doesn't have to intersect with homophobia... both Chris Evans and Lee Sungmin's partners are female. But you can see why an entertainer being queer violates the perception of availability for a group of fans (even if their queerness is gender agnostic or inclusive in preferences...! but that circles back around to queerphobia), which for the executives introduces an "unnecessary" level of risk they usually do not want to take with their assets.
As for the change in how Mile and Apo's behavior towards each other publicly, I don't think it's a professional decision at all. Everyone is ultimately a whole person before they are a professional. The brands have to follow where they will go, or the brands can pull their sponsorship. I'm sure that affects about how they think about their decisions in the context of their career, but so does getting to live authentically and comfortably in the way you want.
First, we have to take into consideration that they are both of a rare class of people who prior to casting already understood that privacy is hard to to claw back once it's given away. Because they both had fans/fan clubs already. The level of interest and intense scrutiny upon them was just not on the scale it's at now. They posted stuff and were way more open before KPTS aired, but with the sudden massive influx of interest, of course they closed up.
Second, they're in another rare class of entertainers with contracts who basically have a lot autonomy over how they choose to act towards each other despite being in a BL, because of Filmania falling through on the original project. A lot of what we saw of them during the airing of KPTS was in a more formalized professional context for interviews, and they acted accordingly.
Mile and Apo have said they don't do "much" fan service. What does that little amount they do look like? Well, this. It's cute. I'm charmed! But not in the context of how they act towards each other anymore. It was clear after Filmania collapsed and BOC picked up the pieces that they were free to make the decision that they didn't want to do fan service in the context of their relationship.
Then, what inspired the change between during airing and now? -- Well, what's the difference between this video and this one...? Again it's about their level of comfort... and not getting to say goodbye the way you want to because fans are watching might be worse than the fact that you know fans are going to watch how you act when you say goodbye.
To be honest, it's pretty clear to me that "no fan service" meant not acting a certain way for the sake of pleasing the fans, but there's also a level of comfort that comes from not censoring how they want to act towards each other naturally. Homophobic comments about his body language and feeling pressured to change/subdue his natural instincts is what made Apo miserable enough to quit acting in the first place. So getting to act how you want authentically, regardless of what fans say/think is just as important. Including the class of fans who live in the fantasy of availability. Or the fantasy of their relationship, as entertainment.
It's a only professional decision because it affects how they act towards each other in a professional context, but it's a mutually made decision for their whole comfort as individuals, not for the sake of their moving their careers one way or another. And it's why they can look so joyful and carefree in their events together, with one less thing to worry about. (Though the fan support definitely helps them know they're loved because/regardless 😊)

‼️‼️TRANS STUDENTS IN THE UK‼️‼️
please share this as it is uncertain but likely and puts MANY students at risk
(this is likely to apply primarily to secondary school students but again we really dont know)
additionally just adding a preface i do not know all the information and have not fully read the paper however i do believe that these are firmly risks that people need to at least be aware of
tw: mention of detransition, suicide and endangering children
Following a centre-right paper about the threats of transgender students, sunak has announced there will be changes in advice/safeguarding laws concerning gender/transgenderism in schools.
this is the paper but i warn you it is incredibly disrespectful and dehumanising and hinestly terrifying so please have cautikn
https://policyexchange.org.uk/publication/asleep-at-the-wheel/
although we do not know what the update will be these are the suggestions from the paper which are likely to be highly consideredconsidering previous anti-trans sentiments:
1. any student questioning their gender to a teacher will be outed to their parents as a "safeguarding" measure
(this will remove safe spaces for students who cannot risk their family knowing thus increasing the suicide rates. they want us dead)
2. schools cannot let students socially transition in any way (name, pronouns, sports teams etc)
(again this removes safe spaces and any form of gender affirmation from those they meet the most, again suicide rates. this will likely also result in forcibly detransitioning many students such as myself)
3. schools must show all pshe/sex ed material to parents to ensure their approval
(likely forcing schools to remove lgbtq+ topics including risks such as AIDS or the mere existence of queerness)
4. schools must change their approach to stop encouraging "gender distressed" children
(they want to bury our existence even if it hurts people)
5. bathrooms, changing rooms and competitive sports must be single sex
(removing gender neutral facilities and also for some reason mixed gender teams pushing ideas of boys and girls needing to be separated)
6. LGBTQ topics are safeguarding issues (legally considered as hurting people)
(demonises queerness and removes awareness)
7. schools must be punished for not informing parents that a student has questioned their gender in any way
(means schools are forced to out students regardless of whether it actually benefitd them)
8. schools cannot mention gender critical beliefs or ideas of sex being different to gender
(trying to hide our existence to snuff us out despite going against science and medicine)
overall? THE GOVERNMENT WANT US GONE.
weve seen whats happening in america and as with many things its been likely to happen here for a while now. until the start of the summer term were waiting for the other shoe to drop as to how bad this may be but it doesnt look good.
This will endanger many students either due to the outing or not being able to voice trans issues/ be accepted by those who previously would have- i myself am preparing for a long and diffcult conversation with various teachers that have constantly supported me
Also be aware that whatever happens may set a precedent for the future. even if youre not trans if youre in any way queer this might effect you from holding back education on queer relationships to potentially finding a similar rule set for sexuality.
if you can talk to teachers NOW about your name/pronouns before the official changes are made and they can claim having never known. play it safe. do not put yourself at risk
additionally, you are valid no matter how you are percieved, how you present or how you must act to ensure your safety.
love you all <3

Kindred on Hulu
I’m watching the new television adaption of Kindred on Hulu and…I don’t hate but I don’t love it. Kindred is one of my all time favorite books and seeing certain scenes being adapted to TV is great, but most of the changes they made seem so unnecessary. Spoilers if you haven’t seen the show or read the book.
Kevin is now a Tinder date she barely knows instead of her husband. In an interview, the show’s creator said he wanted to adapt to “evolution of gender roles or gendered behaviors, expectations around courtship” since in the book Dana’s present is the 1970s while in the TV show it’s the mid 2010s.
And I can understand that to an extent, but it feels like they’ve just removed a layer of protection from Dana when she jumps back to the past. Because in the books there’s a certainty that Kevin will do whatever he can to protect Dana. They’re a team, and while Kevin doesn’t fully grasp the horror of how jumping back to slavery era is affecting Dana, he is effective as her main form of support. In the show, because they are not married and don’t have that established bond, it makes me wonder if he’ll go to the same lengths to protect her or if their barely-a-relationship can survive all the strain time travel will put on it.
SPOILER FOR THE BOOKS: Dana leaves Kevin in the past, for quite a few years (for him, not her) if I’m remembering correctly. Would their relationship survive that in the tv show like it did in the books? Could this version of Kevin, that can’t seem to function in the past without Dana survive the way Kevin did for years? I don’t think I’d buy it.
The Kevin in the show just seems kinda dumb to me. He can’t tell a convincing lie to save his life. He’s constantly bumbling and stumbling over his words. And he wasn’t as concerned about Dana being on a plantation during slavery as I thought he should be. And part of that can be attributed to the fact that he barely knows her but still. I just don’t like him as much here.
They also added Dana’s mother as a character, as well as other members of her family. The creator said that was to “give her familial relationships that are complicated and that might also get us closer to an answer about why this is happening to her and more fully complete this metaphor I think Octavia was working toward”
That’s a horrible reason to make such a huge change to the source material. Dana was a fleshed out character without those immediate familial relationships. And Dana starts putting the pieces together about her time traveling fairly quickly in the book. We don’t need another character to spoon feed information to us.
It just feels like the creator and the writers are cluttering up the book with unnecessary characters and changes to make the book more interesting to a modern audience and it’s making the show worse.
On top of that, the acting feels weak.
For example: there’s this scene in the books where Dana is reading to Rufus and his mother, Margaret, comes in and starts interrupting them. She’s hostile towards Dana and doting to the point of smothering towards her son. Rufus snaps at her and Dana notes that his expression, voice, mannerism, etc. reminds her of Tom, Rufus’ violent, abusive father. I remember it being the first inkling I got while reading that Rufus wasn’t going to stay the little boy who treated his slaves kindly and familiarly. I remember thinking ‘oh Rufus is going to grow up to be more like his father, oh no.’
I was excited to see that scene played out in the show but the acting was so lackluster it barely made an impact on me.
I have other problems with the show but those are my main ones. I’m gonna keep watching, and I do think it’s enjoyable, but it does not do Olivia’s book the justice it deserves. I’m disappointed but I also didn’t have my hopes up.

Part 9: Brazil and Venezuela
Is it truly part 9 already???? Gosh. Time flies so fast.
I am not able to do the other two essays tonight, so please take my messy notes and some links instead.
Anyway, next update will be Thursday! This project takes Wednesdays off.
Word count is like, 495-ish

Brazil
Brazil is largely progressive in its laws. Homosexuality has been legal since 1830, gay marriage since 2013. As of 2018, it is possible to legally change your gender without medical procedures. In addition, as of 2021, every state but two have recognized a third gender. All but six of them, however, only allow it for intersex people.
Pride celebrations have existed in Brazil since 1997, and São Paolo, the first and longest running of them, is the largest pride celebration in the world with over 3 million people. When it began, it only had 2000 people, but it steadily grew until it reached the 3 million mark. Each São Paolo event has a new slogan and theme. These themes are about current LGBT+ politics, rights, or discrimination. The Pride parade is the largest and last official event of São Paolo pride. That is not to say there aren't things to do afterwards. Many clubs do stay open after pride after all. Prior to the parade, there are events like the craft fair, and drag shows.
Even with all of this, their record breaking pride, the laws, trans people still face extreme violence in Brazil. In fact, Brazil has had the highest number of trans murders for fourteen years. While they have tried to stop this with laws and regulations, political speeches and more, 2022 had 131 trans people murdered. Of the victims in 2022, 76 percent were black, trans-women making up a large amount of that. On top of that, this is only reported murders.

Venezuela
When you research LGBT+ people in Venezuela, a thing you’re going to run into again and again is the illegality of being gay in the military. So let’s start with that.
In Venezuela, until March of this year, it was illegal to be gay in the armed forces. It was easy, in fact, to be thrown out or fired, even if you had previously been a model worker. The Venezuelan military justice code had banned “unnatural acts”, punishable by up to three years in prison. Formal armed service members spoke out about this, in an article you can find here. Good news for gays in Venezuela, however, as on March 16th of this year, the code was annulled. Former members removed because of that code have had messages sent to them letting them know they can be reinstated.
That does not mean things are great for queers in Venezuela, however. A trans-women in Caracas has talked about her experiences being out, and what it took to get there. She talked about how her family had been unsupportive of her transitioning, but reportedly are coming around to it. In the article she talks about how she is privileged to be able to walk around without suffering transphobia every day. She talks about her friends who have had to leave the country, or suffer abuse, or are unable to present properly. Venezuela also has a misogyny problem, and according to her, it affects her more than transphobia does.

Trans man/masc tips from your bro.
DO NOT- I REPEAT- DO BOT BIND W DUCK TAPE. First, it’s not safe- duh- but even if it is it’s not going to do much better than a double sports bra- which will be ten times more flexible, breathable, and comfortable. So try that instead.
ALTERNATIVELY- KT TAPE. It’s no trans tape, but this shit WORKS. If you think/know you’re parents won’t support you- just go to your local Drugstore (London drugs, pharmacy, shoppers, ect.) the next time you’re out and about and pick some KT tape up. Used that for weeks- just make sure to take it off with oil or else you could rip off skin. (I did that- can confirm it’s not fun.) if your parents see you with the tape- just say you borrowed it from a friend at school after you hurt your knee in gym class. It’s also good and safe to sleep in so if you want to sleep topless at night with a flat chest… 💁‍♂️
WORK OUT- dude: working out changed my life. I focus on my whole body when working out- and my muscle mass has increased making excess fat decrease- making me look more masc. I can wear skirts and show my stomach and still feel like a dude with how much I’ve worked. I struggle with motivation- so if you’re like that- earbuds go in distractions go out and you do your thing.
CONFIDENCE- okay- so as a trans non-conforming dude- I wear skirts and crop tops and occasionally make up if I’m really wanting to push my luck- confidence can make or break how I present. If I don’t rock that damn skirt as a guy I’ll look like a girl. If I am masculine, I act confident in my gender presentation, and I correct people on my pronouns (haha still working on that but HEY IT TAKES TIME) I’m a dude to most. Same goes for everyone else, don’t skimp in an attempt to hide your chest, just rock it. You’re still a dude and that’s not going to change.
GUA SHA OR WHATEVER ITS CALLED- call me feminine or whatever, but this is what all those tiktok girls use on their face to make it more angular. You know what that does… MAKE IT LOOK MORE MASCULINE. I started this when I still presented female, and now I’m going strong and do it to only my jaw and cheekbones. Not only does it make my face look sharper, it’s also really good for you. So like- try it. Trust.
HAIRCUTS- usually any hair that’s shoulder length or above can look masculine or had potential to look masc. I cut my hair just barely above my ears kinda in a bowl cut looking cut- then I fluff it up and style it to give it some spunk. It hides a lots of my face so I use that to my advantage and it helps me pass on public. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS THOUGH, don’t be a push over at the hairstylist/barber. They will try and convince you to do something you do not want- HOLD FIRM. You are a confident young dude and you need to tell them what you WANT not what they want to hear.
Kay I’ll do more later, bye for now my dudes.

People in Scotland who want to legally change their gender will be able to do so more easily and from an earlier age, after the plans were approved by MSPs despite an SNP rebellion.
The age at which people can apply to change their gender will be lowered from 18 to 16, with the length of time they must live in their new gender cut from two years to six months.
People who want to change gender will also no longer have to obtain a formal medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria in order to do so.
Seven SNP MSPs voted against the plan and two abstained, in what was the biggest rebellion since the party came to power at Holyrood more than 15 years ago.
The rebels included Ash Regan, who resigned as a Scottish Government minister hours before the debate began, saying her “conscience” would not allow her to support the reforms.
In doing so, she became the first SNP minister to resign over government policy since the party came to power in 2007.
Other SNP rebels included former minister Fergus Ewing as well as Ruth Maguire, Kenneth Gibson, Stephanie Callaghan, Michelle Thomson and John Mason.
Only two Conservatives backed the plans after being given a free vote, but Labour, the Greens and the Liberal Democrats all voted in favour. The general principles of the legislation were approved by 88 votes to 33.
By pushing ahead with the plans Scotland will become the first part of the UK to amend the Gender Recognition Act, which has been in place for almost 20 years.
The Bill will also require applicants to make a legally binding declaration that they intend to live permanently in their acquired gender, with the falsifying of this statement becoming a criminal offence punishable by up to two years in jail.
Some campaigners have raised fears that it could erode women’s rights and lead to some people changing gender and later regretting it.
Trans rights groups welcomed the outcome of the vote, saying the changes would improve the “difficult” and “demeaning” process of obtaining a gender recognition certificate.
Vic Valentine, the manager of Scottish Trans, said: “The process that trans men and women must currently use to update the sex recorded on their birth certificate has far too many barriers, meaning that at important moments in their lives when their birth certificate is needed, such as when registering to marry or starting college or a new job, they have to show a document that does not reflect who they are, how they live their life, or their other identity documents.”
Speaking during the debate, Mr Mason said the Bill risked blurring the distinction between men and women, adding that if this happened, “then almost inevitably it becomes more difficult to ensure that women are paid equally or equally represented in Parliament or elsewhere”.
“And it becomes more difficult to ensure that women have access to safe spaces, including prisons, where they can be reasonably certain that no man will be present.” 
