If I were a cartoon review youtuber, some of my videos would definitely be:
Underrated Animated films you should see vol. 1 - ongoing
Complete look at Skunk Fu! and all it's episodes
What's ACTUALLY wrong with Illumination films (spoiler: it's not the designs). And that video would probably have a sequel ironically unironically accusing Chris Meladandri of being a White Walker who rips out movies' souls.
Disturbing Animated Film Iceberg.
A calming, sweet short retrospective on The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends.
Killing off the idea of "endgame". Tho, tbf, I'm definitely going to be writing that thesis statement down someday. I guess in video format it'd be a big "did this series REALLY fall off cuz the creator catered to fans?" breakdown of a few shows.
A video about 9. Because of course I'd make something about 9.
Politically heavy (but not horror) animated films.
An essay explaining the difference between what I want to see in a story vs what's actually good in a story; and likewise the difference between what I personally do/don't find offensive and what's objectively offensive as a viewer.
The dichotomy and standards between different talking animal films.
A review about Mary and Max and why I like it but it's okay if other autists don't. which would be a broader video about how to listen to the opinions of demographics and minorities and not to treat any one as a hivemind.
Movies that I dislike but aren't actually bad.
Movies I love that aren't really all that good.
A deeper dive on my take that Steven Universe was always deeply flawed but having an otherwise working ending; where Star vs was a well-written show that utterly biffed it on the ending.
The Swan Princess is secret conservative propaganda.
The 31 dumbest things in Oogies Revenge.
Zero's Journey is the only good TNBC continuation.
13 Horror animated Feature Films. For Halloween, of course...
My issue with Dreamworks' stans and why I dislike How to Train You Dragon 2.
My issues with Anti v Proshipping. Def would be a multi part series explaining why I think most of the problem is just people really aggresively bulling one another -AND THEN, getting into heinous fandom shit that no one talks about and the ethics of children online and freedom of expression.
Prolly then would make an exclusive (cuz it's dirty) review abt the rights of r34 and adult artists and what they had to/have to put up with both from peers and websites banning explicit material.
What absolutely doesn't work about Pocahontas and Anastasia.
I'd do a series called "Spitball Re-haul" wherein I go through a revisioned show's premise and then explain all the reasons for the changes. I'd make:
How I'd rewrite The Owl House season 3.
How I'd rewrite Star vs the Forces of Evil "Cleaved".
How I'd rewrite Strange Magic.
How I'd rewrite Raya and the Last Dragon.
How I'd rewrite Seasons 4-8 of Friendship is Magic.
My tinfoil hat video on Disney trying to profit so much off of fans is hurting their bases.
Mapping out and analyzing different types of crossover fiction, their merits and their issues with story-keeping.
Mythological and cultural animated films.
and finally, for when I'd muster up the strength:
an HBomberGuy-type callout/deepdive into MysteriousMrEnter and Lily Orchard and how they've made cartoon reviews worse.

yeah im watching the fancy new Puss In The Boot movie and here's a hot take for ya: its real good
dreamworks saw sony try one thing when they added 2d textures and immediately learned how to do it better, bad guys had a really cool style even if it was a little bit inconsistent with its blatant sexy furry design but in comparison to mitchells vs the machines it's clear they understand HOW to use it effectively when it's not as obvious of a change to make as adding comic book style to spider-man (NOT to imply that spider-man is not a masterpiece, because it is, but the way the 2d-3d hybrid animation is used in MvtM has me convinced sony thinks it can be used as an oscar delivery service rather than an artistic or even like, thematically consistent design choice)
ALL THAT TO SAY the last wish is easily the best non-spider-man application of this technology, or design choice, or whatever you wanna call it, hands down. it's transformative in that it's not ABOUT the 2d texturing, and it shouldn't be in this context. it uses it to add style and distinction to an already incredibly boarded and directed movie. it doesn't draw attention to itself in any way other than obviously looking way way the fuck better than anything disney studios has even gotten close to since the transition to 3d.
i really can't overstate how fun and dynamic and perfect the boarding is, and how incredible the visuals are in general, but on top of everything it's such a sweet and wonderful movie. it has a really touching, relatable and super candid message about anxiety, it's funny as fuck like for real (i can appreciate jokes in most kids media but they dont make me laugh, this movie made me lol) and it's also like a really fun and riveting fantasy adventure about cute kitty cats.
fully recommend the puss movie, probably like a 9/10 or something, maybe higher i have no notes

CD's Movie Poll #1 Winner
The Road to El Dorado
* fair warning: spoilers ahead *
Kicking off the start of my movie poll/movie watching series is Dreamworks’ The Road to El Dorado!
Tumblr media
ngl this film has been on my watchlist for quite a while, and yet I never got around to actually watching it until now! (or rather, not until the other night lol) I’d heard so many great things about it before like the memorable characters, the kind of 2D animation that you really don’t see in Dreamworks films these days, and of course, the music!
I will say that I really enjoyed all three of those things in some ways and others 🤩
Right off the bat, Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh have really great chemistry! In fact, I loved their chemistry so much that I wanted to see footage of them recording their lines. so I legit looked up something like “road to el dorado behind the scenes” on youtube as soon as I finished watching the film and found that not only did they do ALL their voice recording sessions together in the same room but they also used plastic swords and playfully had it at each other!! AHHHHHH! so good!! 😂 ⚔️
but yeah they're hilarious! both on screen and behind it. I also just love the fact that both Kevin and Kenneth come from theater backgrounds cause I think that definitely added to how well they portrayed being con men 🎭
Ofc actors aside, some of you probably know this about me already, but I’m a BIG fan of dynamic duos when it comes to media...
Tumblr media
I loved the straight man-ness that was Tulio, and he was probably my favorite of the two. I tend to like characters that find comfort in strategy, cause I tend to be that kinda person too. I know sometimes the logical and level-headed ones aren't always funny, entertaining, or the people to root for in the slightest. But Tulio definitely isn't one of them. I found myself chuckling at a good number of things he said and did like not believing in fate simply cause he relies on loaded dice for example, plus his sarcasm, and how much he tried to compose his patience as well
Miguel was great too! It was fun how much he loved the city of El Dorado and just wanted to take it all in, and his endless optimism of course! But he definitely needed more guitar playing scenes! idk there’s something about those characters who just have an instrument to play at the ready for dramatics that’s really humorous for me, it’s almost, if not totally, breaking the fourth wall in a way 😆
I also really enjoyed the Chief, I love how it’s implied that he knew all along Miguel and Tulio were humans and not gods and yet he still liked them and let them stay anyway. that said, it's kind of a shame that the pair didn't stay in el dorado cause there genuinely were people there who adored them when clearly the people of Spain didn’t…heck they didn't seem to have a problem that they weren't actually gods!
and you have to admit, Miguel and Tulio did match the stone art of the gods quite nicely, like the resemblance there was freaky 😳
Chel was great as well, her cleverness and way of sweet talking definitely stood out to me the most about her character, and I also really loved her voice! 😌
and Altivo the horse? I wanna say he was truly Miguel’s companion when compared to Tulio earning the heart of Chel. after all, Miguel was the one who wanted to rescue him and bring him along, and I was genuinely happy when they decided to bring him on their journey cause the horse wasn’t a bad guy, like he not only gave Tulio and Miguel the keys to escape the ship, but he wasn’t spiteful to them or anything. basically what I’m trying to say is he isn’t how Maximus treated Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert initially, horse to con man
As for the villain? well…this is the first of three times I’m gonna be saying, “I got some Aladdin vibes from this movie" 😅 👉👈 which isn’t completely a bad thing by any means!
But yeah…I immediately got Jafar vibes the minute Tzekel-Kan came on screen (also I had to look up this name cause I didn’t catch it very well while I was watching this film, I just kept calling him “Priest Guy”)
I mean…the fact that he can do sorcery, on top of serving a sweet kind-hearted ruler, tangling with not just one but two thieves, anybody picking up what I’m putting down? Yeah that’s really all I gotta say about that guy 🤷🏻‍♀️
also I swear to god that Jim Cummings is in literally everything that was 2D-animated in the 1990s-2000s! and he's always gotta play that big tough guy. Again, that also reminded me of Aladdin. but then again the conquistador didn’t really have that big of a role in this, at the very least I just hope he gave T-K what he got coming to him
I guess just to get it out of the way, I was admittedly humming "One Jump Ahead" in the beginning when Tulio and Miguel are getting chased through the city, but that’s all there is in terms of Aladdin similarities the way i see it
lastly in terms of the characters and cast, I gotta give credit to Elton John for being part of it too! I mean who doesn't love a singing narrator? and he and Tim Rice did an awesome job crafting the soundtrack for this film. every song was absolutely BEAUTIFUL 🎶 ✨
Needless to say, the animation was 👌 and the opening sequence was definitely one of my favorites throughout the whole film as well as the expressions and the solid movements of the characters, very well done no question there. oh! and how there were just gold objects of anything from butterflies to apples in el dorado! they didn’t call it the city of gold for nothing! ✨✨✨
but in the end, did it really have go the route of the overall goal is get all the gold by the end only to actually lose most, if not all, of it by the end? I just feel like that plot line is done a lot in movies. tho to be fair, this was made in the 2000s so heck, it probably began that trend. But I’ve found in recent years that when it comes to treasure hunting movies, this exact scenario happens just repeatedly and it’s nothing new. I’d say movies like The Goonies and Uncharted are two that come to mind for me that have this happen...
Tumblr media
Now there’s no way I can conclude my thoughts here without saying how AMAZING the “It’s Tough to Be a God” sequence was! I LOVED the “It's Tough to Be a God" sequence from the singing of the two leads to the colors to the everything about it, it was all magnificent! I'd arguably say it was my favorite scene in the whole film! And I'd be lying if I said that Miguel and Tulio’s version hasn't been stuck in my head ever since I watched it, because so help me it HAS and STILL IS and why that version is not on Spotify, I have no clue, but it SHOULD be. Again, props to Elton and Tim for writing this song and the others!!
Tumblr media
So overall, I thought El Dorado was a great movie! It was definitely worth the watch! It's not perfect by any means, I'm not even sure it's my favorite Dreamworks film, but it was still very fun and entertaining all the same and I'm really glad that I finally got to see it after all these years! 🤗

LACKADAISY (Pilot) Review
youtube
I know im probobly late to the party and this isnt realy going to get seen but by anyone who hasnt seen it yet. but if you havet go watch it. I will give a review but it may be long and have disconected points. To preface this, I have only read snipits of the comic, and even I was exited for this. however I am compleatly new to the actual story so I am esentaly going into this. I am also not a profesional reviewer, its mostly just me expressing what I like about the Pilot. I am also not a good writer, I have an understanding of what makes a character or story good but understanding is differnt from expireance. even than its more a basic understanding.
Spoilers.
This is one of the best pieces of media I have watched in probably a long time. I love the details in the animation. For example, when Ivy offers Freckle the "sunset rose cocktail" his expression was very entertaining. I caught myself smiling throughout throughout the whole pilot.
In terms of characters, when Rocky hands Freckle the gun he is clearly hesitant and while we may not know why entirely yet, we can clearly see part of why when he gets trigger happy (tbh, I'd be the same probably), even when he isn't talking you can often tell what he is thinking because the animators did such a good job with his body language that even someone like me who finds that stuff difficult can even get an idea.
Rocky, is very confident to the point that it makes him a really fun character but it can also act as a character flaw. but I don't think anyone will consider Rocky getting his hands on explosives a bad thing. If I had his confidence (and I wish I did) and I was in that scenario I would do what he did too, besides explosives are fun.
Ivy, is childish (in a good way) and very honest. While the focus is not necessarily on her as much as Rocky or Freckle she still feels like a fun character.
The 2 "goons" as I shall call them, feel like individual characters with their own personality and are fun characters, and they feel like real people (cats?). They have some fun banter and attempt to rescue the other if they are in danger.
Mordecai, I love him as a villain, he may report to someone higher up but he is definitely set up as the main villain. for most of the pilot he is show as a cold and calculated but we get a point where he show weakness in a fear of water, now a cat afraid of water may not seem to original but every other character in the scene is unphased (well as unphased as someone can be with a rush of water flowing at then.) making this a unique character flaw to Mordecai.
I don't have much to say about the sound design and sound track other than it was good. I especially liked the music from the chase sequence (which I believe was also used in the trailer). I would love to hear it on its own and would happily add to my playlist.
Overall it felt like a nice middle ground for people like me who like animation but don't want to watch stuff that is targeted with primarily kids in mind but feel uncomfortable stuff that is filled with adult references.
I'd say on a scale from 1-10 it's a 10 would definitely love to see a whole series, since I can't support financially I may as well support with this review.

Hey again!
I was just wondering since I started thinking my plan on making reviews of various media of my interests (like animated media, movies, TV, music, games, etc)!
What would you guys want my first review to be about whenever I do make it and release it on YouTube
Future plans for when I'm bigger and more experience are reviews of magical girl media, Calvin and Hobbes, and the Chucky franchise (positive reviews), analysis videos like sharing my theories and thoughts on characters (for example sharing why I think a certain character is autistic or just straight up analyzing a character like Gonzo from The Muppets), and a review of the Speed Racer movie (negative review) if you guys need a examples for what you guys can suggest!

Catching up on "My Adventures With Superman"
I've been watching this one but doing it in the stints thing where I take a break for a couple weeks and then binge a few episodes at once. Just did one of those to catch up to the present and thought I'd share my reactions to the latest episode... seeing as it features my favorite of all of Superman's villains: the illustrious Mr. Mxyzptlk.
I know I'm Super late on this (ha), given that this is six episodes in, but I think I'll just give my thoughts on the two-parters coming up as they come/conclude and then my final thoughts on the show as a whole when its over. You can already get a bit of that towards the end of this, though. Episode 6: "Kiss, Kiss, Fall in Portal." So, this one reminded me of Spider-Verse. Not the movie. The original comic. And not in a good way. It has that same "we'll introduce the multiverse to give every bit of continuity ever made an established place so that we can homage everything... but actually devalue everything by forcing it to fit into a very rigid and contrived paradigm" feel.
For a while I've been starting to think the people who make this show don't actually see Superman's world and characters as especially interesting, which is why they've mostly been turning them into imitations of other things. The Legion of Lois'es, especially, really brought that feeling out: so the ultimate evolution of every prominent Lois Lane in every previous Superman property we've ever seen is... to cease to be Lois Lane and become Flash Gordon instead? It's such a jarring contrast for the primary Lois in this series to be someone whose main motivation is to become a reporter and help people by getting answers, only for the show to say "once you become the best you can be you won't even need to be a reporter anymore - then you'll be a cool sci-fi hero and do cool sci-fi hero stuff!" - and it then feels like Lois feeling insecure falls flat because none of these characters even do the things she or any other Lois we've ever seen cares about. I think it mostly hit me this way because this doesn't really get a resolution. The characters give the Multiverse Police the slip (which I do love, see below), but there isn't really a "I'm going to be the best I am because that's who I am, not what you think I'm worth" moment from Lois. She (and thus, the show) just kind of internalizes it.
I might be being harsh on it, I think. But it's comes off an idea that was intended as a homage on paper but ceased to work as one in execution - and instead maybe felt a bit like the opposite. On top of that "we love these characters and put them on a pedestal through nostalgia, so what if characters in-universe actually had the same reactions to those same characters and treated them the same way" is pretty much an idea I've never seen work out - it always just ends up turning characters into reflections of fan reactions, instead of allowing them to be... well... characters.
I'm explicitly not getting into the Clark implications, firstly because everyone overreacts the hell out any time an evil Clark or Clark-like character shows up in anything these days, second because the issues with the concept are evident even before Clark comes into it, and third because - due to the first - I think people are focusing too much on Clark specifically and not enough on how the concept as a whole wasn't great to characters involved (except Jimmy / Jalana because this show's versions of any Olsen continue to be a treasure).
And fourth because the "the characters discover some versions of their friend went bad" does actually line perfectly well up with the season's overall plot about Lois' dad being a paranoid nutter, but the Kryptonians maybe being evil and Clark being an unclear cog in the gears of this strange mystery. It's a plot decision I really liked in this show: I'm suspecting we might end up with something Iron Giant-esque, where all evidence points to the hero being a monster, but the hero refuses to fall into expectation as their friends refuse to fall victim to the fearmongering.
But... overall, all that is why I really liked how the main characters' ultimate response to the judgmental multiversal police squad was a "screw you guys, we're going home" without even a goodbye. Screw that noise. Presumably the Lois'es from other continuities who pointedly aren't among the Lois'es actually in the judgmental multiverse police squad did something similar. Live your life as yourself. Good message, though I think show could've been more overt about delivering it.
On the flipside, Mxy was fun. He was a tread to Lois & Clark's "more malevolent Mxy who wants to be a god" idea, which is... hate to repeat myself... fun. But being fun it what's most important where Mxy is concerned. It's a little less interesting to have a Mxy who needs power because he wants to be a god vs a Mxy who already has power and finds concepts like godhood boring, but I don't think traditional Mxy is in line with how this show envisions threats, and regardless he was delightfully tricky and - let's face it - is one of the two big things absolutely carrying the episode (the other being Clark and Lois' relationship, as usual).
All in all, the show continues to hit me two ways at once: I really love the way it's interpreting the characters and their relationships - again, Jimmy is fantastic and Lois and Clark's relationship is nuanced, adorable and continually keeps me invested - but the plot decisions that surround those great characterizations keep missing, often feeling like they're wasting good concepts.
I hope I'm wrong about the feeling I'm getting that the writers maybe have some overall apathy for Superman's world and characters, but bit by bit the show keeps making me wonder - I just wish the show would start feeling excited to reinterpret these characters rather than flippant.
Either way, though, fun episode. More Mxy is always a treasure.

Just finished watching Across the Spiderverse.
I truly do not understand people saying it's better than the first one. It's very much not. BUT is it an absolute achievement that's probably better than most of the mainstream movies you'll watch this year?
Yes. It's amazing
Huge fan of how perfectly the music and atmosphere matches each character and I think it's an absolute marvel (no pun intended) in how beautifully it executed everything it tried to achieve. My main criticism is that it's a bit too busy and distracted both visually and plotwise.
Strong recommend still ;)

Dreamworks' Monsters Vs Aliens The Series Episode 2 Part 2 Review
Dreamworks’ Monsters Vs Aliens The Series Episode 2 Part 2 Review
The Review Wants You To Take This Killer Plushie Bear To Russian Premier Vladimir Putin… No reason. Mind the death lasers… So this is in essence a comedic chase episode, and it’s kinda ok that way. It’s funny, it’s laser focused on the story and the humor, and we find out something new about our alien guest on Earth… but we probably already figured that part out so it’s not much of an actual…

I watched Gay Purr-ee, the UPA movie from 1962
What a treat of a movie it was, the art direction in special was so beautiful
The animation is very simple but the backgrounds and the direction and storyboarding, specially on the musical sequences, are pretty good to look at
The story is very reminiscent of the musicals from that era of Hollywood. The character are straight forward but like-able enough.
The music( and the audio in general) has that charm that i found on pre- Disney renascense that i love. People just don't speak and sing like that anymore
For such an influential Studio more people should talk about UPA's work, 😮‍💨 wished they could've done more stuff

Watched some of House Broken on Hulu and it wasn't that bad??
It's a pretty standard "adult animated series" with poop and vomit jokes. But surprisingly downplayed sex jokes. The story of Honey and the coyote was actually kind of funny and engaging. And the payoff to it is pretty hilarious. Really erratic back and forth with a/b/c plots. Characters ranged in likeability. Some jokes actually made me laugh out loud instead of snort through my nose so there's that lol
Not great, just watchable enough.
5/10 ☆

“i’ll be so lucky to have you” is such a beautiful line. himi knowingly returns to a world that is destined to consume her in the fires she holds dear, all because they’re also the very doors that’ll bring mahito into existence.
and that’s the enduring essence of miyazaki’s works: life, through all its suffering and misery, is still worth living. through the people we love and the memories we cherish, we search for and find our reasons to live.

Just started watching the Netflix ATLA live action (currently on the third ep!) and I especially love the lil hat Iroh got to wear, decided to draw them with the og art designs :]]
Also really loved the scene with the woman who defends Aang by scolding Zuko mid-fight 😭 She’s the realest auntie
I just try to imagine the whole live action as a super high budget ATLA au. My sister does a better job at it though lmao. BUT it is entertaining! The dialogue is so funny sometimes with how odd it sounds, and Aang’s actor is so adorable.
My thoughts are blasting at random so do bear with me. While watching I was telling my sister that it’s a fun live action but as much as I try not to compare it too much to the og show, I just don’t enjoy live actions very much in general. I will admit that “real gritty dark” live actions do tend to attract more people, so if anything I’m glad that at least it will invite people to the wonderful story that is ATLA, and maybe even get them to watch the original :]
Would love to hear your thoughts though because from what I’m seeing its a very defined 50-50 split between people who loved and it people who absolutely despise it 💀

Lightyear is intensely EPIC! Absolutely amazing! 🤩
a definite must-see! and a definite must-see on the big screen!
it seriously felt so great to see a Pixar film in the theater again and you know what’s funny? I actually saw it in the very same theater I saw Onward for the first time in two years ago…I literally didn’t realize until I stepped out onto the parking lot! 😧
I know I saw NWH and Uncharted in the theater too but I actually saw those at the movie theater near my college
so that definitely felt special for sure
but yeah go see it as soon as you can! To infinity and beyond! 😄 🚀

⚔ An immortal is dead and you're holding the murder weapon. ⚔
Sunset Phoenix is an action/mystery comic about an immortal kingpin and her criminal spy who were framed for the murder of a rival, and are trying to find the real killer before time runs out and the city succumbs to war.
Also I made it and worked hard on it and I think you should check it out because it's cool :)
