La semaine dernière j'ai jeté mon feutre fétiche. Je l'avais acheté pendant des vacances à Séville en 2013 et depuis il a été mon feutre favori. Cette jolie couleur menthe m'a énormément inspirée et m'a aidée à trouver mon style (rien que ça !) Prévoyant le jour où mon feutre serait vide, j'en ai cherché un deuxième pendant des années, en boutique et sur internet, mais personne n'avait entendu parler de cette couleur. Le Posca mystère, probablement une série limitée. Je redoutais le jour où mon joli feutre serait vide. Par bonheur, cette couleur a été rééditée il y a quelques mois. Le timing était parfait puisque mon premier feutre vient de rendre l'âme ! New supplies have arrived and y’all, I am so excited about these vintage embroidery and macrame hoops I got off of Etsy. A huge motivator behind my DoilyHoop witch wreath pieces is taking something old, forgotten, unused and making it into art. A few of the hoops I’ve used so far I have managed to source secondhand locally, but I bought some new because I wasn’t finding them/couldn’t really go looking because of covid. Plus I was impatient and just wanted to make the things. So this shipment is a game changer for me. This allows me to more closely align with my vision and the vibe I want my pieces to resonate with. I love making unique, one of a kind pieces and using secondhand/vintage materials just makes that vision feel more genuine. I have so many thoughts about consumption, aspirational purchases and impulse buys, sustainability, upcycling, and being a more conscientious inhabitant of Earth. I have been trying to write them up for posts and there’s just so much to say and I haven’t gotten it all out yet. So this is an interlude and a little peek at what’s coming. I bought a lot of art materials a couple if days ago! Got some soli and grass effect texture paints that I look forward to test out when I make landscapes, a paint mixing glass, some scotch tape for armatures, a new super sculpey that was cheaper than the ones I've bought so far, that also had 3/4ths more clay, a new moleskin sketchbook, and a moleskin watercolour sketchbook! Looking forward to get to test all these out! Recently I've gone back and re-sketched or finished drawings from up to two years ago, and it's fun. But I needed a new moleskin to do new sketches. If you're a young/new artist looking for alternatives to loose paper or cheap sketchbooks, I'd strongly suggest you try a moleskin sketchbook! They don't have to be expensive, most have nice quality paper.
